Prime Minister Mark Carney hopes to approve a new bitumen pipeline this year, running from Alberta's oilsands through to B.C.'s west coast. There are just a few problems.
B.C. Premier David Eby, who has previously opposed the project, has criticized the May 15 pipeline deal Carney signed with Alberta Premier Danielle Smith — saying that Ottawa was rewarding "bad behaviour" and that B.C. has other major projects that could have used support instead. Eby and Carney have now entered negotiations about the potential pipeline and major projects development.
Other sticking points for Carney's pipeline include the various First Nations and environmental rights groups that have promised opposition to the project and the moratorium on oil tanker traffic on B.C.'s north coast.
With this in mind, we want to ask:
