Ripped us, so you don't have Just as fast as we can show Shooter's gonna help come Man Dix is the Troubleshooter Show. No Tom Martino, Hi Tom Martino here, Welcome to the show. And I once talked about Today's Car Day. By the way, this is a consumer show. We'll take any call, any problem, any question, any complaint, Today's Car Day. I got a bunch of UH degenerates in the studio. Actually their car professionals, I should say, what am I talking about? Their auto mechanics,

extraordinaries. They own their own shops. Jesse Schillinger drove up from Colorado Springs. He's on at Accurate Auto. Jeff Vick Kimmera Transmission, Kevin Colkin,

Sheridan Auto Tech. Now listen. So I bitched a lot about six months ago about my two thousand dollars flat and people thought I was exaggerating, and I'm going to tell you something I'm not exaggerating, and Kachina colorI found that out that I'm not exaggerating, and I'm going to tell you the story and I'll take your calls, I promise you, But I want to tell

you. I want to tell you about the two thousand dollars flat. If you have run flats on your car and your tires are not within five or six thousand miles from new, and you get a flat in any one of those tires, they will not fix a run flat. A run flat, now you can probably get someone to fix it, and if that's the case, then you're lucky. But in most cases, run flats are not to be fixed. To be fixed, your insurance company would would nix you they

found out you tried to fix one. So what does that mean? That means Let's say you have ten thousand miles on a car fifteen to twenty, it doesn't matter. He got run flats and you get a flat, and you figure, oh, I got a run flat. There's the nail. I'm going to drive it to the place. And you drive it to the place, and they're gonna say, okay, mister Martino, we can't fix that run flat, but we'll sell you a new one. I'll say,

oh, well, okay, what the hell? Crap? Now, I got to spend two hundred and fifty dollars on what two hundred and fifty what? No, you got to buy more than the valve? Stem I said wait a minute, it's a run flat. How much are they? Well? Six seven? I said, what, so okay, then I'll I okay, I learned my lesson, get me a new run flat six fifty. Well, mister Martino, we can't. We can't replace one run flat. And I said, what, well, you see your tires are worn

and we can't replace it. You got to buy all four And I went say what, well, you know, with these new drive trains, you can't just do that. You got to have them all. And I said, so now I'm looking at seven seven seven seven, I'm looking at twenty eight hundred dollars, oh plus installation and all of that. So I'm looking at three grand for the flat. But I wanted to get it down to a bargain at two thousand dollars a flat, So I said, I never

want this to happen again. And he said, well, we have our best Michelin tires right here, beautiful tires, and you can get those for fully installed everything out the door two grand. That's with your road hazards. And I said, so what does the road hazard mean? And the fine people at discount said, if anything goes wrong, we can't fix it. You get an a tire, and if you need all the tires, you

get a discount on all of them. And now, by the way they mean it, my wife has gone in there and gotten tires all the way around for nails, all all the way around on sidewalls, and they didn't even baden. Not of course, the best insurance I've ever had. And you know, I say, I don't buy that crap. I buy that when it comes to discount and tire, I'll buy their RoadHead company. But

let me explain this. So I bought brand new Michelans. Not only do I no longer have run flats, I will never have a run flat again in my life. They're the worst deal you can ever have. And not only that, you get a better ride with regular tires. So what is all this crap about run flat? What the hell? I do you realize you'd be better off having a regular tire and paying a company, not triple

A. If your triple A you get it free. It's better to pay a company five hundred if you had to to come out to the scene and help you, then it would be for your two thousand dollars flat or twenty eight hundred dollars flat. And that's the story about run flats. I say they suck and I would never do It's the worst thing that ever happened, in my opinion, the worst thing that ever happened. But then you have

to have a spare tire in your car. Well, no, you wouldn't eat Okay, technically okay, you could still have the doughnut spare and drive its. All you save is the room for the spare time. Okay, okay, so you have the donut spare or if not that, don't have any spare, you call somebody out to fix it. And nowadays you have cell phones, you have everything. I mean, there might be a rare occasion you're out in the country and you're alone and there's no cell saying come

on, come on, really give me a break. Anyway, run flats. When you buy a new car, you don't have a choice anymore. Actually, I don't think you have a choice. And do we guys have a choice. I think you could make them take them off. You can tell him to swap them out, but they'll probably charge for it. But I'll never do it again. People, it's the two thousand dollars flat. And I'm not kidding it sucks. So now I have all michelins, love the tires, love the ride, love everything, and if I need to

repair one, I can actually repair it. Now. People say, well, Tom, you could have bought a new one and had it shaved to match. That. I found out that you could possibly do. But a lot of people do not like doing that. But there are places, have you, guys heard of the ones that shave them down to match. I don't know anybody in the Springs, but I've heard of it. I've heard of it, but I've never actually, I don't know anybody. Same thing. Yeah, I've heard of it. That's all. That's it. So

look at all these wonderful tires. They're removing those run flats I had. Those other ones were perfect shape, perfect, the three. What do they do with them? They just they're done? Right. We have tire places in the Springs that sell use tires, So they go around and pick these up, take them to their place and sell use tires to you. But with matching the problem with drive trains today, how close do tires have to be? Guys? Really? How close do they have to be? About

a quarter inch three thirty seconds? Yep, that's not a lot, is it, guys? No, it's not. You can make the entire You can actually destroy a drive frame by having mismatched tires. We were just talking about that this because we sent a report to somebody six months ago. They didn't fix the tire. The transfer case went out. Haley put one new tire, one new tire at ten, the other ones were at three and four. Oh my god, Raymond, what's going on in your life?

Raymond? It's your turn? What's happening? So we're we're moving to Poland where my wife is from. Really how exciting? I guess is it exciting for you? It was Harriet and I don't know. So what's going on? No? No, no, So you're moving to Poland and your wife's Polish? Are you Polish? No? No, I was actually born and wheatrige? And do you speak? What's the language? I mean? I don't want to sound stupid, but it's big Polish. They speak polsh shut up, they speak Polish. I know, but I'm all right, go

enough said. Do you know how to speak Spolish? Sir? I know how to speak some Polish. Why are you moving? By the way, let me ask you why you're moving it's really complicated. My son. Is this because you have car accident? He has TBI. I don't have any family left here that you know? Yeahs. And is it going to be easier to take care of your son in Poland? Yeah? And the big concern is so I'll be sixty two in September. Oh wow, god, you're you're ancient? Yeah, I know, isn't it? So the big

problem is that something happens to us. Who's going to take out of my son? How old is your son? By the way, he's twenty seven? Now. How bad is his brain injury? He's fairly articulate, but he he goes off on weird tangents and his mobility is very impaired. Okay, well listen. Weird tangents, impaired mobility sounds like deputy doc, but it sounds like me actually, raymon, listen, listen. I'm going to tell you something seriously. What do you need to know now about moving?

So we hire company Transparent International out of New York to do our move for us. How did you find them? Oh? I found them on internet search and I got how Oh my god? You know you will never find a legit mover by just doing a search like that. Most of the time you find a broker and they have nothing to do with your move. It's the same whether you're here in the States or moving internationally. The first person

you get simply collects money and does absolutely nothing. They sell your contract to someone else. Yeah, so this company, because I did the net reviews and all of this stuff before I hired them. So the big difference between this company and the others was that this company is proposed to do everything, including you know, professional loading and all of this stuff. And that's our problem because they did do the loading, but they sent five guys out here.

As let me ask you, is what stage are in right now? The actual move? Let's just talk about that. What stage are we in right now? So my wife and kids are in Poland right now? The where's your stuff? It was loaded last Wednesday? I don't know. I don't know where it is. And so what's the problem right now? So they didn't load what we told them to load. They loaded a bunch of crap that wasn't supposed to be loaded, and they didn't do a professional job.

So did they ruin anything? I mean, you say, it's in a container, So what happened. Did anything get damaged? I suspect so, but I don't know until we opened box. Well, so are you calling that you anticipate it's going to be bad? No, No, My concern is because I'm willing to take the risk on stuff being damaged. I mean, so, what is your concern right now? They they left my garage full of crop that was supposed to go, and they took a bunch

of stuff that wasn't supposed to go. Oh man, and they didn't load away. Their representative in England said they could do so, like we have furniture that went in there. And so you have stuff in the container, some stuff you don't want, and then the other stuff you do wants back in your garage. Hold on a second, let's figure out what to do. Go with a sure thing Denver's Best roofer Excel roofing dot com. You don't pay a cent until you're content. Time for an insurance check up free,

Hi Tom Martino here, Welcome to the show. Three O three seven one three talk seven one three eight

two five five Ryan, where's the mover headquartered that you're dealing with? Moving to Poland? Long Island, New York? Okay, Long Island, New York. And they say, what when you complain, We're going to do something like a concession or maybe a partial refound or something. Well, you still need that is the stuff they left behind, stuff you really need. No, you know, honestly, most of the stuff ninety percent of the stuff that went we don't need it. But my wife is so attached.

No, I know it. Most of the time, people when they move, would be better off not moving most of the stuff, shipping a few boxes. And that means no matter where you move, moving usually, I mean really it across country never pays. People don't have good stuff like that. I mean, it's not like we have vintage stuff that needs to be packed and moved. It's usually it's the biggest scam on earth. Even when it's done legitimately, So, Raymond, what do you want right now?

Do you want us to call them? What do you want if you could and just say, look, we got this complaint, we're looking into it. We want to know what you're going to do. Blah blah blah. Okay, do they have well, they wouldn't have an Interstate Commerce Commission number, would they do? They do moves both internationally and inside the country. Yes, what's their name? Did you say? It's Transparent International. I've never heard of them. Okay, okay, let's do this, doc.

Let's just give them a call. They're in Long Island, they speak your language. Hold on, man, we're gonna let's give this to deputy doc. Now, I'm going to talk to jess Array. I believe is how you pronounced this? Jesiray? What's happening? Do I have the Do I have the right pronunciation there? Yes, Jessaray, Yeah, Jessarray, what's happening? Hi? So I was calling because the storage that had burned down? Who was one of my storages? Wait a minute, you had a

storage unit burned down? Yes, and your stuff was in it? Everything? Now do they have was it in your unit only or the whole facility. No, there was like seventy eight units that got burned down, and one of them was mine. And okay, now you're going to tell me that you had two hundred thousand dollars worth of precious stuff in there? Right? Maybe? No, maybe more. I have a lot of collectibulls, and like my parents had a lot of collectibulls and my mom and my dad.

Okay, before you keep going, how can you prove what was in there? I have receipts and stuff for a lot of things that I had. You have you had stuff in there worth more than three hundred thousand dollars. Why didn't you have insurance on it? I did have insurance that all they want to give me is just two nine dollars for it. Wait a minute, you have insurance on that stuff from a company? What's it your own insurance or did you buy it through the storage facility? No, through

the storage You bought insurance through the storage facility. And at the time you bought the insurance, did you write down a value? No, I just I've been there for like five years and I've just been paying insurance and everything on it. I understand that, But how do they insure it without you putting a value on it. Well, I don't know, but I have like receipts and stuff for a lot of the things you have. I know it doesn't matter if you have receipt Let me let me explain somebody to you.

What matters is this If the agreement disclaims damages and says that you have to get your own insurance, and you got insurance, you need to pull out that original policy to see what you were insured for. And if you were not insured for three or four hundred thousand, you're not going to get it. And I suspect you were not paying the premium for three or four

hundred thousand dollars worth of stuff. Your premium on three or four hundred thousand dollars worth of stuff on a storage unit would be probably four hundred bucks a month. How much were you paying for insurance it was with the st How much were you paying chissarray how much? Listen? I how did the let's ask you this was the fire intentional or negligent? Well? How did the fire start? Do you know? They said that they don't know that.

They think because they had an outage the day before that they think that that might have spark. Okay, okay, jesuray. Let me tell you in general what's going on? Okay, okay. Just because the fire starts somewhere and destroys your stuff, there's all kinds of variables we don't For example, if the place did this intentionally, let's say that was total extreme criminal or negligent, and they did it, they would be liable to you, but

you would have to prove what was inside there. And and when you say three hundred thousand dollars worth of stuff, what size was your unit? It was? Uh? Oh, I don't I think it. I want to say ten by twenty, But I'm not fortunate, okay, And how are you putting a three hundred thousand dollars of it? Give me an example of the most what's the most expensive thing there? My father in law he was in there, you know, in a little urn and then we had collectibles

on comic books that we had in a metal box. And then are coins, and then like we had just bought a bunch of furniture, because okay, do you have the policy that you bought? I don't even know. I don't I could probably get one of the receipts or whatever, because just sorry, just sorry, listen, let me explain something. Okay, I am positive. I want you to take this and do some homework and call us back. I do want to help you, but I think you're going

to be shocked at what you signed. What you signed and when you got this storage unit pretty much said that you're not going to hold them responsible for anything except if it's intentional or something like that, but you're going to hold them harmless, and that you will take responsibility to ensure your stuff. Okay,

I'm positive ninety nine Well, no, not ninety nine percent. Every storage agreement I have ever read, they make the person take responsibility for their stuff and they must ensure it. Now, now you said, I understand that, Tom. We did ensure it. But here's the next step. It's up to you to make sure there's enough insurance. If the storage facility says to you, Jezirae, we have insurance. It starts at eight dollars a month, and you say, oh, i'll take it right, but

you don't know what that covers. That's your responsibility. If you were paying for coverage for ten grand, going to get ten grand. If you're paying for coverage for two hundred grand. You may get two hundred grand if you can prove what was in there, but you're gonna have the worst time in the world trying to put together receipts that will prove you had three hundred thousand

dollars worth of stuff. Now, you said your father in law or father, and I don't want to make light of this, but those ashes are only worth something to you, and they don't ensure pain and suffering. So you're not gonna get paid for that. You're only gonna get paid for the actual cash value of what was destroyed. Okay, but what about like just for the payments alone that we've been there for five years and you know, Okay, what you're saying is what you're saying is you are making payments for

nothing. But here's the thing, here's what's important. That's what insurance is supposed to do. It's supposed to make you whole, but it will only make you hold to the extent you bought it. I don't know what kind of insurance you bought, but it was your responsibility to make sure you had enough insurance. Now, maybe they're underpaying you. I don't know the policy until I know what you were paying and what the company and the policy was.

I don't know what to tell you. You need to have some evidence of insurance. You need to have a policy we can look at, and you need to have the original documents you signed. Otherwise than that, maybe you hire an attorney and have them sue the place for three hundred thousand. I mean, take your chances, but I don't think you're going to win. Do you have homeowners or renter's insurance for where you're living, because you

may have coverage from off premises. Premises is usually a small percentage, that's usually ten percent. Yeah, but do you have are you living in a home where you have insurance? Well, we're like, that's the whole thing is because we were moving and so that's why we put all the stuff up in there again because we were planning on this. So okay, so you

didn't have homeowners insurance? How much we did. We did have homeowners insurance, but our policy ended because then you did not have homeowners insurance up. Man, you did not have homeowners insurance when the fire started, right, No, because our thing was up in Maine. Okay, I get it, jesuree. I don't care why. I mean, I'm just asking so we can find out where we go. So this coverage that you had with the storage facility, you have no idea how much coverage you had? Do

you do? It? Says it was three thousand dollars that we paid. I guess twelve dollars a month, So that's what and that's what they gave you. Three grand they gave us, Yeah, twenty nine hundred. Okay, there's your answer. Jesuree. You're gonna have to get an attorney to sue them. You're not gonna win, by the way, but if it makes you feel better, I feel really bad for you. But it was your responsibility to say, oh, no, I need way more insurance than

that. I need three hundred thousand dollars worth of insurance. But would you have paid for three hundred thousand dollars worth of insurance? Well, I've been paying it for five years, So what were you paying? How much were you paying for your storage? One hundred and eighty six? Okay? Would you have paid four to five hundred a month that includes storage and insurance to keep that stuff protected? Well? I probably would have because I've been there.

But you did I thought it would be, but you did, jesiree. So if a judge or some of their attorney says, jeesire if you had three hundred thousand dollars worth of stuff, why did you only insure it for three thousand? What would your answer be? Because I didn't think anything of it, because I've been that effort, jezzirey, That's not an answer. I'm asking you. If you have three hundred thousand dollars in a storage unit, why did you not have it insured? Your least agreement says you

are responsible for the insurance on your stuff. So why did you only have three thousand dollars? And if so, why do you believe the storage facility should pay you three hundred thousand. That's what you're going to run up against. I'm not trying to argue with you, but you're going to run up against that. You have to have answers for that. Did she have a homeowner's policy somewhere? What's that? Does she have a homeowner's policy? No, we already talked about that. She has none. Nope, she moved

and she loves a question. How does she prove that the stuff she says is valuable was in the swords units. Well, okay, it's still irrelevant if she doesn't have coverage. But even if she did, okay, she would have to sum at some point have a witness or have people or have something saying what was in there? She is having? This is an impossible

situation. You should never have storage of three hundred thousand dollars worth of stuff in a storage facility, ever, unless it's bonded, ensured coverage, and jesire, I'm sorry that you did. I mean, I can't believe you would have three hundred thousand dollars worth of stuff in a ten x twenty unit. I mean, I can't even think of three hundred thousand dollars worth of stuff I could put in a unit. I can't even think of it. I mean, not furniture or not. Did you have precious metals in there?

Jesuite? Coin collection? Your coin? Okay, your coin collection could be worth something. How much was your coin collection worth? I don't even know, because well, okay, hold on your honor. She doesn't know how much or coining, but she wants us to give her hundreds of thousands of dollars. This is what you're going to come up again, you have to know what it's worth. You can't just ask for money. You have to know what you lost, So you have to make an itemized list of

everything you lost. Oh, we do have an itemized list of everything we have, because we have. Like, then, why did you only ensure it for three thousand dollars? Why are we going in this circle? If why would you if you have an itemized list of everything, why would you only buy ten or twelve dollars a month of insurance? Why? Because we didn't know that? Because we you didn't know what You didn't know what I'm trying to understand you. You didn't know what your stuff was worth. No,

we didn't. Okay, well, whose fault is that? I mean, how are they supposed to be responsible for the three hundred thousand dollars storage unit at least start payments that we've made there in the last five years. Okay, you know what, Jesree, Apparently you need to listen to what we talked about because we covered all of that. Okay, you're insured for what's in there, not for your payments. You got three thousand dollars worth of insurance and they paid. I'm sorry, I'm sorry this is a great

lesson in what not to do when you're storing stuff. It's not that I don't feel bad for you, of course I do. You lost stuff, and maybe it was very, very very valuable stuff. You even said you had a complete list of it, but you did not realize what it was worth. But you expect them to pay you for it. It's not going to work. Are we on because I can't? Oh, I'm not on program? Okay, ty, Tom Martino, I just pulled the bid in there. Hold on, Hell am I am?

I at the G seven summit three oh three seven one three talk seven one three eight two five five all right, By the way, the other people that were on I guess got discussed waiting because I was trying to tell that lady how she's not going to get three hundred thousand dollars of coverage in a ten by twenty storage unit when you were paying nine bucks a month for insurance, okay, and you knew you were under insured, but you didn't have any idea what a worth. I mean, it just doesn't work that way.

There's something called responsibility that we have for to protect ourselves. It's really sad sometimes when people don't understand that. Man, I don't have close to that in my entire house, and we're talking TV's, my studio, equipment, printers. I know now, I know, I know think about that.

I mean, I really I don't think the contents. I mean, stuff's not that expensive anymore, and people don't have that much vintage stuff, for God's sakes, and a coin collection at best, even if it was what fifty grand if it was, why would you have it in a storage unit anyway? John H wants to sing a song. Here's let me let me tell you what we're doing. We're giving away tickets. Now here's how it's gonna work. I want you to pay attention. This is Father's Day

weekend and on Saturday tomorrow the Colorado National Speedway. You got to go there regular, right, But if you win this contest, when you go there, you go to the Rock and Roll Beer ten. That's our friend Steve Moss. And when you go there and he has your name and number because you were in this contest, he'll give you VIP tickets for another event. That's how it's going to work. But he did ask me to do one thing and he said he can only he can't give away these tickets to minors.

So we had a young kid called the other day, So your parents have to get those tickets. So John's on the phone and John wants to sing the song in order to qualify for the ticket. And again there is no qualification if you sing the song. Steve says, put their name down, they'll get tickets. But I think we limited it in too. Ten, right, didn't he say ten? How many? Did we? How

many do we have on the list? Ten? And the one guy called in and got the words wrong and I said no, but you said yes, yes, I know, Kachina. How many do we have so far? We have two so far. Okay, so we can only take eight for this show, right, and then, of course for those who called in and you got tired of waiting because I was talking to that lady about her storage facility and how three thousand does an equal three hundred thousand? Could

you call back three oh three, seven to one three talk. I promise I'll get right to you, Susan, and I might be going out too. Seven. Oh really, you're gonna go to the speedway. He's he's dying for us to tell. Yeah, I hear he's got some really good news. He's luring me with a beer and a beautiful shirt. He desarm. Okay, now let's talk to John. Now, John, you want to sing this song? Let's hear it. Hey, guys, twenty five exit two thirty five, five miles west to the tree Farm. He's got

he's got a cross between Bob Dylan and Johnny Katy kiss. Okay, John, thank you get his name in number. It passed it alongsty. Then we have seven left. We got more coming up. You know something I find interesting because we talk about dollars and cents a lot here on this show and the economy itself. You know what I find very interesting is that whenever a company has expressed their concern and their political ideologies which bend

toward being woke. Now now I'm not telling you what I think. I'm telling you what's a fact. Whenever a company has done this, there was a study done. They have suffered in sales, their products and services have suffered. Now I'm not sure why, because we're led to believe, really well, we're led to believe. Mark, if I swear to God, if you look at the majority, you're led to believe keep going that the

majority of the country is swinging woke. I think that's what they say in public, but around the table because there's no one really really willing to be canceled over it. So everyone goes along with it. Everyone goes along with it. I mean the luna woke say, well, you know, nothing wrong with the none wrong with that. I mean they they don't want to piss them off. They're afraid of you. How do you find swinging the other way? Tom? What's I think the pendulum is signed to swing the

other way. I don't know if it is or not. What I'm saying is economically only marketing only. When it comes to marketing, companies who have done, who have ventured out to let their wokeness be known, have suffered in sales. That's is a good. So that would mean what Mark is alluding to that it's an illusion that the majority of the country is that way, because they're not. If they're voting with their dollars, they're not voting

for that. You'll find out in November. By the way, we got our car experts here at three oh three seven to one three talk three oh three seven one three eight two five five. Friday, as every Friday is car Day, but we don't confine ourselves to just car problems. But we do talk about car problems, and it's a great day to do it

because we have our experts here today. We have honest, accurate auto we have that's from the Spring shared to Auto Tech and then from Denby and then Kimera Transmission from the Denver area. By the way, people have been taking matters into their own hands when it comes to parking. They actually can buy boots online and they have been immobilizing cars who block their driveways or park in their spaces. The City and County of Denver says against the law. Can't

do it. You cannot immobilize a car, and in fact, in most cases you are not. You do not own the parking spaces on the curb in front of your house. You might think you do, but you don't. If you don't have if you don't have a driveway or garage, you can't just expect the space in front of your house to be yours. People have gone so far as to put signs up in front of their homes, and the signs say, you know, no parking, private parking, No,

sorry, can't do it. It's city streets. In some neighborhoods, I don't know they still do it. They did have parking passes. If you live in the neighborhood by the stadium, but not for a particular space. You don't understand the boots anyway. If somebody's blocking my driveway, I want it moved. I don't know what I'm disabled. Well, I know that's weird. Call it, tobe. I guess it's just they want to finally get this person's attention. Maybe, But in any case, I think

that's a pretty dangerous thing to do. Now, booting a car. Booting your car is not It's just not legal, that's what they're saying. Not legal at all. Three h three seven to one three talks seven one three eight two five five. Let's go to the phones. Don go ahead, Don, what's going on with you? Don? Hi? Is a brand new vehicle? Yeah? What year? Brand? Like twenty four? Okay, let's say twenty twenty three by the purchased at new last last August.

Gotcha? So I paid approximately seventy five thousand dollars for this vehicle. Yeah no, wow, I'm in I'm in the car business. My vehicles last me three or four hundred thousand miles. It was time for me to buy a car. I went to go look for used ones just a year old. My CPA said, you want to buy a new one because you're gonna want to lower percentage. Interest is only where you're going get it to say two GM or one of the manufacturers. Yeah, Janale's are really nice big

vehicles. Holy crap. Yeah, well so, and I bought the you know, it's a it's a small diesel. I'm a mechanic by trade. I own a shop here in town. I bought this vehicle. I loved it. Anyway, I got an accident. Sami came over into my lane hit me on the on the right side, which puts me in the guardrail on the left side. Obviously, they think my vehicle's totaled, even though the adjuster's really never physically been out to look at it. Well, hold

on, but the adjuster is taking the body shop word. It's what's wrong with it or what? I don't know if you could be I mean, well, is it out? A body shop doesn't need to be nowadays. Wait a minute, what do you mean, Wait, Jess, what do you mean it doesn't need to be so the way the insurance companies are doing it nowadays, Like we'll get cars at the shop and we'll call the insurance company and they'll go, oh, so total loss on that's three grand.

We're going to assume the damage is already three grand. We're sending Copart to come pack that three just that they're not even looking at with these CAI adjusters never come out. Ye wait a minute, So John, where is your car? My car is at Town Center Auto Repair. Did the auto repair center talk to your insurance. They haven't talked to my insurance. We talked to the at fault insurance. Oh oh, the app fault insurance. And those are the ones that want to total it right. So here's let me

do something here real quick. So I think what I about the vehicle. I know, I know they'd appreciate, so I went ahead and put some money down. I also got gap insurance, which I know doesn't help me in this situation a year, but the insurance company offered me sixty three thousand dollars. The gap insurance will help you in this situation, not if you're overpaid for the car out of stupidity, but they'll go one hundred and twenty

five percent of value and you use your own collision. I wouldn't even mess with the other party because you're I know what you're running into the other party is going to try to undervalue it as much as possible. But keep going, let me hear the story. Go ahead, So here, here's the deal. All I want to be done is for me to have what I had before I got in the accent. I just want pre loss. I

want I don't want anything more. Right, But also when they after me sixty three thousand dollars, there's also taxes to be paid on that deal, yes, right, and that that has to be included in on top of that. Okay, yeah, they have to do that. That's that's part of your damage. Okay, Well, I kind of want to know it before I call this and shat. Okay, here's what you're entitled to John, Here's what Because I have this, I have this discussion with people a

lot. Some people hate it, some people understand it. First and foremost, it doesn't matter what you paid for it. Okay, that you got to get that out of your head, because we don't know if you paid a good price or a bad price. We don't know if you're a good negotiator or a bad negotiator, or if you had negative equity going in. We don't know any of that. All we know is what was destroyed. So you take a twenty twenty three GMC tonalely with that mileage. It doesn't

matter what your basis is. It's a twenty twenty three GMC to nale with similar mileage a second before it was hit. And that's it, with the same options, the same everything. But that's what I'm go ahead. So that's what I'm running into. So I went to two dealers. I went to a mid bed GMC and they don't have anything used comparable to what I have, yeah, even close to the price if they have one. And then I went to one hundred and fourth, which is omeara GMC the same

thing. So the only ones I found here in town would be car Gurus or a CarMax. They have Rodney identical to mine. It's the same exact one that I have, same miles Jennerting, except for they want you know, of course, they want to send me some one thousand dollars for it. Okay, so you have comparables, or you go on cars dot com, or you talk to people about buying another one and then they price it

for you. But which I've done. I reached out to H and Brown for a broker that can find me one of the same back of health yep, and they come back of a price right around seventy to seventy five if that's truly, If that's truly the replacement cost, that's what they owe you, and you know they're not gonna want to pay it. But here's the problem. The reason they lowball you the other party is because they don't have what's called bad faith to worry about. Bad faith is when an insurance company

screws their own insured because they have a contract with them. So they don't fear bad faith because they don't have any obligation to you whatsoever. Okay, so they're going to low ball you every time. What you need to try to do because you're convincing me you got a pretty good comparable. Now I would go to petty details on my referral list. And these guys do this professionally. They that's what they do. They value cars and they do it

for court. But I'm assuming you reject with enough people that you know seventy grand is a pretty good number. I mean, okay, give or take. But they're offering you how much sixty three thousand? Okay? Now is that seventy counting sales tax. That's counting. No, that's the asking Bryce. So Okay, what you need to do is get some solid quotes like that, and then you either do one of two things. There's only two solutions here. Okay. First, you never never even don't even bother with

the insurance company. It's not your insurance company. You're simply going to go after the other driver for damages. Period. You have a right to do that. Nobody says you have to go through his insurance. No one. That driver is responsible to you for damages, whether or not the insurance company wants to pay them or not. But the easiest way, the easiest way, is to go to your own collision coverage and your gap insurance. Why don't you do that? I think I will after talking here? Do you

have to do that? That's why you have insurance. Now, if you're worried about your deductibles, you can go after that other driver in small claims court for your deductible. Gotcha, Bye? As you everything I need to know. But really I think you're what is your deductible on your collision? It's probably a thousand? I mean this is going to be the same. It's probably a thousand if I had to think of it, call your insurance. If they give you a hard time, your insurance company. We can

tell you the story. I never had to do this, but Mark argued with insurance companies when they offered him a low ball. I think it was his own insurance company. I'm not sure, but and there are ways, it was, there are ways to do it successfully. What did you do, Mark, Well, I just figured out what the value was. I used petty Details as the bottom line. But mine was so far off it was crazy. Man. They were like offering me fifteen and it was twenty

four. Yeah. Well, his force to be exactly where I was at before I got in an axfs all and I'm not asking for a dying more. Yeah. Well again, when you say before the accident, it's not what you paid, you pay you pay petty Details five hundred bucks, they'll invoke the appraisal clause in the contract and get you what it's worth. Man, I mean, you're not gonna get any more any less. I'm gonna I'm gonna call those people. That's what I'm gonna do. All right,

Now let's talk about your problem, Benjamin. What's going on? What's going on with your apartment? What's happening, sir? Well? I my plumber came yesterday and he tore up the wall and there's black mold, the pipes are corroded. I report, But first of all,

my son's optick. My daughter has chronic asma. I'm real sick with my kidneys, blood pressure, pills, and delay in the office that she can move. Lord have mercy. That's a lot of issues. Yeah, there's a lot of going on. So anyway, the black howl, though, hold on the black mold. How extensive is it? Very severe? Who says the plumber? The plumber said, the pipes of Corona. You can see the black mold all over the freaking well, there's two different problems that

pipe corrosions. The pipe corrosion is not going to be the health issue black mold would be if it got into your air. Do you know what your air quality is? No? I do. I know. My throat's been hurting, my chest has been hurting. My daughter has chronic asthma. And like I said, I'm on section eight. My little boy thoughts to okay, okay, Benjamin, you don't have to go through that again. We heard that the first time. Now here's what you need to do. You

need to figure out what will the landlord do voluntarily? Anything. She told me she could put me in a hotel, for two days and that's it. But during the hold on But during the two days, is that to fix it? To fix the pipes? Well, what's wrong with that? If they're going to fix everything in two days and you come back in, what's the problem. She said, she can't do that thing about the black mold? Oh oh oh, she said, okay, she may not have

to. It depends on what your air quality is. See black Not all black mold is toxic. Not all black mold is in the air. I mean, I don't know your situation. I don't know. I mean there are some cases where black mold is really dangerous, in some cases where it's not. Yes, so, but the landlord won't even investigate, is what you're saying. Well, she investigated, and she should. All I could do is put you in a hotel for two days and that's it. She

But what did she say about the mold? When she said there's nothing we can do about the mold, what does she mean She said, we can just cover up the smell, cover up? What does she mean by that? Do you know? I have no idea? I have no idea. Well, once they fix the pipes, the mold will no longer have food. But you have to then destroy the mold that's there. Now, that's not hard to do, Just so you know, Benjamin, I know there's a lot of hype about mold. It doesn't take that much to kill mold.

The main problem with mold is you got to kill it and then make sure it doesn't get into the air, and then also cut off its food supply, which is water. Right. So the other thing is when he cut into the wall, the wall just started crumbling. Well, that that means you got a bad place to live. It doesn't mean a health problem, you know what I mean. I mean that it sounds like it's kind of like geesh, you know this has been leaking a while, right,

and the wall is all soggy. Well, I assume they're going to replace that wall, right or part of it that they obviously they're going to fix, fix the pipe, and put the dry wall back where it's not rotten. Right. Well, the plumber told me has to go all the way to the third floor, and then the people behind me and fix all their stuff too. Okay, Well, that means it's leaking all over the place. And did your landlord say they will do that? She says, She

will do that. But like I said, she wants to put me and my kids in a hotel. My son's autistic and he gets really crazy. And let me ask you something, Benjamin, Okay, let me just put it there. What do you want? Then tell me if you don't want to go in a hotel. While she attempts to fix it, what do you want? She gave me two options, either get out of my lease. I can't afford to get out of my lease. And a second option was to put me in a different unit. So you still didn't answer my

question, what do you want? I want to go to a different unit? Well, she said, didn't she offer that? Yeah, she offered it. Now she's declining it. Okay, all right, let's give her a call for you. And how long you been there. I've been here since October and you haven't missed rent or anything? Right? Nope, I've never missed nothing. Okay, and you're on section eight? Yes? Did

you bother to call them at all? I talked to my technician. She said that she could get me an emergency expection to go to a different unit, but she has to speak to them, and she goes, I'm not a lawyer. She goes. I could get you out of your leave, but like I said, I'm on housing, I'm on a fixed income. I'm on so security. I just can't get up and just for to move. I got a little boy and a little girl that I'm raising by myself. By yourself, buy myself. I'm a single father. How that happened?

Worthless mothers? Wow, my son's mom's a drugging and my daughter's mom she just doesn't. Really what's your disability? I yeh, I got lake problems. I can't lift over five pounds and I currently is under blood pressure and my kidneys are really bad. Okay, well your danger's not that's for sure, because you got two kids. So what you need to do is control that thing. And then and then, Benjamin, we're going to call this landlord. No, no, it sounds like you got to struggle there.

Let's try to help you. Doctor. You're not doing I mean, what do you got going on? I mean I want to make sure we don't load up doctors calls and and you call this landlord. I will we need to call this landlord and just say, look, you know, put them in another unit for God's sake. That's two cuts. It's been hang on all right, bro, let's see what we can do for you. just incredible women in our community that don't really have the time too. Yes, hello, did we get disconnected? Jenow Okay, she got disconnected. Can you reconnect with her please? I'm sorry about that. We got disconnected. I knew something was up anyway. It's an organization that really does a lot good and I wanted to help them out because they have an event coming

up on the first of September and it's called an All White Affair. Now, what they do is they are a group of women who promotes awareness of all kinds of good causes and they help support it. They want you to donate gently used dresses and I'm going to tell you how you do that, and then they sell those to raise money for these charities. So it's a really good it's a really good system. and more. Plus we're going to see what's happening with Benjamin's landlord. And then we have some car issues coming in by text. Hi Tom Martine here. Now we're gonna go back to that charity

event I want to tell you about. But I need to take Brian, who has this urgent issue with Frontier. What's going on, Brian? Yeah, So here's my trouples with Frontier. So I originally booked a flight and the flight was supposed to be a one way. Not well, not one way, it was a NonStop from Denver to Minneapolis. Okay. Then they were like, they changed it, Okay, no big deal. They changed it to a different time on the same day I did. So they changed

it again a different time on the same day. Okay, fine, I'll go with that. God did wait did they keep canceling? So they keep giving weird reasons. So now we're up to another change. And here's this change. This is the part that I'm trying to fix. So now they want me to leave at instead of being a NonStop, they will meet to take a flight that leaves Denver, goes to Phoenix, sits in Phoenix for five hours, and then flies to Minneapolis. So here's the really funny part

about it. So why can I ask you something? Why are they doing this? Well? Do they give you a reason that they keep changing the schedules? No, So this is why Frontier is evil. Frontier literally you can't talk to it here. No, my wife will not let us make a reservation on Frontier. She said that you will not have any guarantees you'll even get off the ground. Go ahead. That is correct. And my wife is also wise and told me that I was an idiot for booking it.

But the reason I booked it, of course is it was dirt cheap, like silly cheap, and so I booked some dirt cheap thing. And now they're playing games with me, missus twice they want you to go and leave at an awkward hour and spend five wait wait, wait, wait, you guys are talking like they're they're like singling him out, like, oh, we're going to go ahead and move everything because Bill bought a ticket. This is insane. They move stuff around all the time. It's not like

they're doing it just to you. No, I believe that this is I actually believe this, and unfortunately not wait a minute, wait a minute, you think they're doing it just to you? Oh no, not at all. I think that this is there. I think that this is actually how they do business. No, it is. Tell us about your experience. I'll keep going. So my experience is. So, here's what I'd like to say. If they move it more than one hour, they'll give you a refund. Man, Oh, they just trying to hold on. Wait

a minute, wait a minute, let them finish. Did they offer you a refund, Brian, Of course they do, and there's the comedy of it all. No, no, but I mean along with the flight plus a refund. Don't give me a refund. I haven't clicked the refund. You're not answering my question. Can you take the delayed flight with the five hour layover and still get the flight and a refund? No? No, okay, Well then what good is a refund? For God's sake, do

you make an appointment to go somewhere? What good is a refund? On the last minute. Go ahead, Brian, go ahead. Yeah. So this is what I'm asking, and I wish I could just talk to a human there, because if I could talk to a human, they have another flight that they're still selling that would actually get me to Minneapolis sooner without the layover, But you can't talk to anyone because they don't have phone service. Well wait a minute, wait stop, why wouldn't you just get the refund

and then buy that hold on? Yeah, Brian, duh, thanks Mark. So here's where things that's where things get interesting. Are you ready got everything you say is interesting? Why won't you do that? No? But go ahead, let him explain it. Because it's a round trip. So if you canceled that one, it cancels the other and the price to come back is astronomical. So you can cancel, but you don't get the same price that you are committed to your original I get, but you're the price

you were committed to. Please listen, man, the price you were committed to on the first one is not the it's not the same thing. It's not the same flights. They're different flights, so there's different prices. No, but he's saying, why should he have to. What he's saying is why should he have to suffer because they changed his flight? And here is my position, And I hope you hear this, and I hope other people who use from Tier hear this. This is twice in my life this has

happened. I actually believe it's their business model. I believe that they're actively engaged in a bait and switch tactic. I'm going to send you a twenty nine dollars ticket, and I'm going to move it three or four times, and I'm going to tell you that you have to cancel it. Then you're going to be committed to essentially buying additional tickets at a higher rate. How much hire is it? How much higher is it for the other ones? A couple a little roy Look look, man, that's just simply not true.

And you're talking to someone that is literally sued Frontier multiple times. But what you just said is one hundred percent fault. Wait, you don't they're doing on purpose. You're saying they're not doing it on purpose? Right, of course not. I mean that's the think an airlines business model is to offer twenty nine dollars tickets and then get you into something else. So everybody

in the world is pissed at them. They offer you twenty nine dollars tickets, so when you buy that ticket, then you realize, I got to buy luggage, I got to pick a seat that twenty nine dollars tickets, not twenty nine. That's their model. Their model's got nothing to do with what this guy's talking about. And well, don't you think what it is is that the thief the original flight to Minneapolis, who's probably three quarters empty, and the fly from Phoenix to Minneapolis is now going to be full.

Well, yeah, exactly, that's what happened. For whatever reason, that plane's got to go somewhere else. Doc You're probably right. It was pretty empty, and they're not gonna fly one guy for twenty nine dollars. Why do they do it more than any other apps? But they mention all this and when you go to buy a Frontier ticket, they lay all this out. No I'm not saying people read it, No one reads it, but

it's all there. Why do I have flown Frontier. I'm gonna be honest once again, I've sued these people numerous times every time, so but here's the deal. I've never sued them over what this guy's talking about. But I have flown Frontier in the past four years, no less than fifty times, and when it comes to stuff like this, maybe one time I had to wait two hours in airport and these are twenty dollars tickets to Vegas or whatever. Man, you don't fly Frontier to place is where they only fly

once or twice a week. And if you do, if they cancel the flight, understand there's not another flight for four or five days. You fly Frontier to places like Las Vegas or Orlando, or places in Texas like Austin, where there's ten flights a day every day, then when something happens, you can still get there. I think that we can agree that they have a crazy business model. Here's what I'm saying is this is all I'm atting. I don't know much think it's great. Here's what I think. They're

a terrible airline. I'll go with you on that they're terrible. So but here's what I'm asking. Because I'm not a crazy person, I'm being willing to be so go ahead. I'm willing for them to move my flight. I'm just asking, why can't you move it to the flight where I don't have to go because they have to do. We have anyone we can talk to there at all. No, no, no, And can you believe this? And that's just it. So I assure you that if I were to talk to it here Mark, what if he shows them, if he

sues him where but he's gonna get what twenty nine bucks? I mean, they would show up on this one. I mean, listen, they're offering them a full refund. I just can't go down to the tunnel. You guys are going down. They're offering him twenty nine dollars at the last minute. Now he has to make new reservations. I get why he's pissed off. It's kind of an ingenious I'm not saying he shouldn't be pissed off. I am saying right now, in the United States, if you fly any

airline, you're going with their terms. There is nothing in legislation right now like there is in Europe where the airline would have to take care of it. Blame a Buddha jeed, Blame whoever's in charge of the rules here and again again, they're playing by the rules. That's all I'm saying. Listen to me again. They're playing by the rules, right, right, right, I agree. But I'm saying is that his life would be much better if there was. Well, of course, what are you going to do

about it? Though you've learned a lesson, don't ever booked them again ever. I think you know. The first part is that this is the second time that they've done this to me. Never do you know that we've never made a reservation ever, once, not once on Frontier that has ever gone through like it was promised ever, not one time, not one time. I can't see that. Cole? Hey, Tom's let the show. So anyway, my mother in law discovered some cracks in her basement. Yeah,

and she got two estimates. Now where are the cracks? Where are the cracks? Man, They're in the garage and utility room. So now you say in the basement. Then you said the garage, So they're they're in the garage end the basement. So yeah, the garage is part of the

basement basically. Okay, gotcha, gotcha, gotcha. So on these cracks, do you know they go all the way through the wall or they hairline tracks their hairline cracks At the moment I've been told to go through the wall, I think an estimate for a posey filler one was just the inside for around two thousand dollars, and one was to do inside and outside for around nine thousand dollars. Yeah. Well, I wouldn't go with either of them

right now. Were these were these firms engineers. I can't answer that. The o't listen. This could be nothing. That's why. That's why I'm calling. How old is the house right now? Cole? It's probably about twenty five years old, and nothing else has happened like this. This this is new correct? Yeah, within the last year, Okay, with a twenty five year old house. Whatever was going to happen happened, and it doesn't sound like it can be serious. However, was there any new construc

diruction or anything going on in the meat in the immediate area. No, then I don't know why twenty five years it would all of a sudden. She's sure they were never there before. You give me just a second. Also, are the cracks such that she can put a piece of paper in them? Or can she put a dime in them? Or what? Sorry? She does say it's been several years for the cracks, I've got a picture. Why is she even worried about it? Then? If they've been

there for several years, is she getting moisture through it? No, there's no standing water or anything. She just didn't know what to do five years old. Well, okay, she should do nothing. She should if there's nothing. If there's no cracking in her walls upstairs, if there's no cracking on windowsills and door jams, no cracking anywhere, go over and look for her. Call you'll you'll see if there's nothing spreading or getting worse. And

this is a twenty five year old house, she should do nothing. If she's getting moisture, she might want to seal it, and the only way to really seal it is from outside. But you don't do it for nine grand. They're full of crap. How far down is it like underground? How far down are those cracks underground? Three feet? Four feet? Do you know? So it's the whole length of the basement wall. Wait a minute, the crack goes the whole length of the wall, just from the

top of the bottom. So the whole height of the wall, is that right? Yeah? Maybe about eight feet? Okay. I wouldn't worry about it. If she's not getting any moisture, it's not getting bigger, it's just maintaining. It's twenty five years old. There's not much to do, man, Really, I wouldn't spend any money on it right now, I'm Tom Martine. We have more come up. You might want an engineer. I don't even think you need that. The only show of is can. We're here to solve problems, answer questions. Take your complaint. By the way, Hey, it's car Friday. Did I just hear Tommy? Yeah? Go ahead, Mark, keep going. Oh it's all good man, Go ahead. You interrupted the best entry ever done in the

show's history. That's right, it was. I got to admit it three oh three seven one three talk is the number here or you can call three oh three Martino twenty four seven three oh three sixty two seven eight four sixty six. I want to start out just real quick here. I want to get Jen on because Jen has a charity. I want to plug and I often talk about good things going on because this show is all about problems,

be course, solving problems, but in a nutshelling. What she has done is remarkable with this organization, and I thank her for it, and I want to get people involved to help out. So let's talk about it, Jennifer. Let's talk about Your organization is called Wine and Dresses dot org and

you sell donated clothes to raise money for charities, is that right? That is our main event, Wining Dresses, And what we do is that we actually ask all of the women in our community to donate their lightly use and new dresses that we all have in the closet, yeah, and donated to us, and we actually sell them and the most expensive one we auction them to raise money for the cost of the year. Now that's what I want

to know about because I want people. I'm going to promote your event for September first, they can go from four to seven and it and as you said, you're raising money by selling these just gently used and new dresses and it's fun. And in a little while I'm going to be telling people how they can donate their stuff. But right now, though you sell the stuff and you say you give to your cause. Now, do you have a different cause each year? Yeah, So every year we change it. We

try to focus on what's happening in our community. So before we have help organizations such as Warren Village Castal Desas. During the COVID crisis, we help Latina Safe House and there were the domestic domestic violence increase. And this year we actually want to focus on attainable home ownership. So we actually want to raise twenty thousand dollars to help two single women, two single mothers, attain

home ownership. They want that for their life and we just want to That's where wine and justice come in, getting, you know, being together with our communities, just raising funds in order to make that happen for them. And how will you select them? That is a great question. So what we're doing is we're partnering up with another grade of our organization, That's what

we love is that we collaborate a lot with many different organizations. But the twenty thousand dollars select those two single mothers will be another awesome organization called Project I See You, and that is their focus. They do help a lot of people, a lot of women, basically help them with grants and with

their needs, you know, with their home ownership goals and drinks. You know, one thing I wanted to say, Jennifer, I really appreciate when people try to help, you know, I really do, Because no matter what, we can have all of our favorites or all of our favorite stuff. We can have all of our favorite events at activities that we do with our sales and our families, and we can have you know, we can

also get involved in social activism and all that craft. But one thing I think everyone can agree on, I hope everyone agree on, and that is there are just some people that need a helping hand, and once you give it to them, it can make an incredible difference. Absolutely, I agree with it one hundred percent. I think I feel like even with this woman at that they want it for themselves and their families. All they need is a little help. That's what we can do as a community, because God

knows we all have been there. Yeah, now, do you have one event a year to sell these dresses or more? Great question, it's only one even a year. You can go ahead and go to winandresses dot com and actually it's winandresses dot org. By the way, sorry, yes, Wineanddressice dot organ purchased a ticket last year. We sold out. We want to sell out again. One hundred percent of what we raise, the tickets that you purchased, the dresses that you don't everything that we raise, go

one hundred percent of our cost. And I know that that's wonderful. One hundred percent. They don't have any administration, they don't have any paid people. They just do this out of love. No, we are just a dedicated group of women here in the Colorado community that focus in in local social issues. Great sharing a wareness of a nonprofit doing something about that issue, and also at the same time ins fire women and girls to get back to

the community. And this is September first, from four to seven to find out more. And by the way, is this event open to both men and women? I'm just curious, absolutely so. It first started as an all women event, and now everybody's just bringing their boyfriends and husbands, right, and so men are absolutely welcomed. Where does the wine action, Oh yeah, where does the wine come in? Yeah, that's a really good question. So as the day they went the day day event, we have

a lot of wine and a lot of dresses. So last year we were able to raise like one thousand dresses. It was amazing, wow wow, yes, and so we're trying to raise two thousand dresses this year. And of course wine just you know, makes everybody just happy and celebrate and it just becomes a very very funnyvent. Like I said, we sold that last year. We want to sell out again. One hundred percent of everything that we collect, it goes straight to the cost and what I'm asking I would

love for your audience, thank you so much for listening. If everybody can, just Tony ten dollars go to wine addresses dot org and Tony yeah yeah, or address or whatever, and I'm gonna tell them a little later where they can donate their they're gently used clothing. And by the way, that's wine and roses dot org rg wine end and it's the word end, wine end, roses or just me I'm sorry. What am I saying? I'm such an idiot. I'm sorry. I was thinking of the movie. Never

mind. Wine and Dresses dot org. Wine and Dresses dot org. And this event is going to be in Golden By the way, you can find out more on the website Wine and Dresses dot org. A boy, I hope I didn't screw that. Okay, Wine Addresses dot org. Thanks, thanks very much. Go to Tom Tom, Go to Tom Tom. I'll go to Tom Mark. Okay, Tom, Hey Tom, what's going on? Yes? Tom? I called mostly to pretty vehemently disagree with mars response

the other day. What was Mark's response, Well, the ninety thousand dollars pickup that the the engine went bad in twenty thousand miles or so, and they said, well, they never got thee let me recapture the calls, so they know what we're talking about. Yeah, trure, all right. So here's the bottom line. This guy, and I'm working with him right now. This guy calls up. He had an oil change. It's a

big diesel truck, takes twelve courts of oil. It's a brand new or close to twenty twenty three Dodge thirty five hundred fully under warranty six seven months ago, he goes to Big O'd tire. He gets an oil change done nine thousand miles down the road, and six months later, engine starts knocking. He brings it to the dealership because it's knocking. The dealership says, you have no warranty on your engine because there was only three courts oil in

it. He says, now, wait a second, on my dashboard right now, on my app as well as literally on my dashboard, it says I don't have to do an oil change for another thirty percent. There's thirty percent left in it. It also says on the app everything is correct. It's green, lights, engines, green everything. So, in other words, there's no problem of anything on the dashboard oil pressure, lights, check

engine anything. The app says everything's good. The dealer says that Big O when they did the oil change, only put three courts in although it was nine thousand miles ago in six months, it must have taken this long to break down. So that's how the call came in. I'll give an update on it after I let Tom, you know, try to do whatever the hell he's doing. Wow. So so hold on a second, where does this stand right now, Mark, all right, I'll do the updates.

So I've been in contact with someone behind the scenes. I will not say who it is, sure enough, I have pictures of the app. I have pictures of the app currently, which is even crazier saying that, yes, there's thirty percent life left. And I'll let either Kevin or Jeff talk about it. I have never owned a vehicle to where it's not intervals like every three, five, ten, thousand. Ye what this is? It tells you when to change the oil. I never heard of anything like it.

I guess it's pretty new. But on top of that, we have all the evidence that the app said the vehicles in perfect shape, that the check engine light was never on, the oil stuff was not on, and we have documentation from Big O that they put twelve courts in. I've been in contact with the GM at the dealership it's at. He's getting everything in the next day or two, and then he's gonna get this figured out, and we're going to get this guy an engine if it's a last damn thing

we do. But what Tom's issue has nothing to do with any of that. I really want to know what you think of what Tom's going to say, I went around the room last week and asked everybody in the room a particular question, and I'll just let Tom take it from there. It's only fair for him. Okay, go ahead, go ahead, Tom. Now

what part of this do you disagree with? Go ahead? Okay. It's not so much a disagreement as what I think is a mistake they, I would think, all during the conversation, why aren't they asking the obvious question, which to me is, during those several months after the oil changed, how many times did you check the oil with the dipstick, which is a simple, low tech nothing, doesn't depend on the computer screen and all that.

If he had checked it just one time, and assuming that they had the twelve courts of oil and it was using oil somehow or other, they would have found out, oh look, it's two quarts low, it's four quarts low, whatever it is, by the simple method of checking the dipstick. And yet the people in the room with Mark pretty much just made fun of checking the dipstick. One lady said, I don't even know what the dipstick. Well, I don't wait, wait, wait, wait, I

want to correct one thing. Tom. When you called in, you're you're not being honest right now. When you called in, you were saying it was the caller's fault for not checking the dipstick. That's what you were actually saying. Though now you're sugar coating it. Is there anything wrong with me? Hold on, though, is there anything wrong with that? I mean, shouldn't people still check dipsticks or not? A lot of cars don't have dips? Oh my god, really, they don't even have them. It's

electronic. Now, that's an electronic sensor that will tell you the level of the oil in the car. You don't have to use the dip Same with the he's talking about percentage on the cars Honda TOYL They've been using this for years. Yep. Oil goes by percentage. You go by the percentage. Absolutely not. I tell my customers all the time, don't go over five thousand miles period, like, don't that thing will let you go ten, twelve thousand miles, no problem. Yep. The percentage is not right.

But as far as the dipstick and the levels, some cars don't even have tom are you aware some don't even have them. There are a few, and that's a horrible mistake. Because agreed simplest, quickest BMW don't have guys. This is why I went around the room. You can have one hundred people call in and one person has checked the gosh dang dipstick in the last four or five months. It's unreasonable to think people do that anymore. It's stupid. It's right, and you know what, that's true. True.

Who the hell drops? Who the hell drops one hundred thousand dollars on a bm what's the last time you check your dear Right? All right, Tom, Tom, What he's saying is is what he's saying, whether you like it or not, is right. Most people don't check their dipsticks. That's true. That's the problem. I've used to I taught people to drive for a few years, and still occasionally to teach somebody that I've been. One of the things I always say is make sure that you check the oil of

the engine before you have a problem, especially on a long trip. You go on a long trip with several hundred miles, you should be checking the oil first thing in the morning, every morning, and anytime you get here. Yeah, no one does that, Tom, Yeah, we hardly do classes and they don't. Your own your own program is a testament to how

often that happens. Every week or so, somebody's calling in, oh caror get the oil changed, and a week later or two days later or a half hour later, it sees the engine and I don't know what happened, And yeah I know, no, I hear about it. Check that dipstick and know what the oil level is without all the g whizs. Okay, So let's get right down to this. How many cars still have of the new cars coming out, let's say twenty three on how many have dipsticks?

Must still do seventy percent? They still have dipsticks? Okay, Yeah, there's that percentage thing. Is the big Earth concerns miss, Yes, as long as when it comes to warranty though, guys, that's fine, Jesse. When it comes to warranty with Dodge, they don't care if the engine goes out and it still says here's thirty percent life on the oil you're in. If it says you've been driving and the life has been dead for eight

thousand miles, you have no warranty. I agree. I agree. And that's the same thing that we had customers arguing with Honda because they have camshafts that are having here. Here's what I'd like to do. Let's call up Stephanie, Let's call up Susanne. Let's call up any woman out there and ask them the last time they checked a dipstick on their brand new car. I find it absolutely ridiculous that we would even be telling people to do it. It's stupid. Oh for p No, it's I don't think Mark,

I don't think it's stupid. I just think that you're right. People don't do it. I don't think there's anything stupid about it. I mean if you could do it, I mean it would tell you something that I don't know what. There's alarms for. When's the last time someone out and checked their septic tanks? See how full it was. There's alarm set for when it gets full. We rely on this stuff every day. Cars pretty reliable guys. Yeah, when that oil light goes on, it's not too late,

right. That means you wouldn't be a check angel. You get a separate message, not a check. And I'm talking about the oil oil level. You just get a message or a level low. Yeah, it wouldn't even be just a light or a red little Thank you, Tom, appreciated. Three oh three seven to one, three talk seven one three two, five to five. I'm in a minute, go ahead. We're not talking Model T's doc. No, No, I just want If Benjamin is listening, I would love to help him with his landlook problem, but he hold

Yeah, yeah, yeah, you hung up before we get your number, bro Okay, and we do want to help you. Jerry. I think Jerry's next. Jerry. What's going on? Erry? What's happening. Now let's talk to Eric, who has a comment on on oil changes. Go ahead, what is your comment on oil changes? So this whole discussion on, you know, on checking the oil. My wife's twenty thirteen Buick has one of those monitors that tells you the percentage of life left, and her car currently only has fifty five thousand mile line. It's

not driven very much. And I've done two oil analysis on it, and both oil analysis have come back the results that do not follow the oil life monitor stick to a five thousand mile change. Really, yeah, thank you. Why do they have those and why do they have those? Lada wants you to keep the car for How do they know what percentage is left? How do they know? It's a timer? It's an electronic timer. It's not actually it's not an actually, it's not measuring particular No, it's not

doing any of that. It's system mile. It's time, right, oh it is. Here's the other thing on this too, is I checked. I checked that oil on the car once a month. I generally check it, and about usually about twenty five hundred miles, I have to add a quart of oil. I have a twenty fifteen pickup that currently has two hundred and ten thousand miles on it and it hardly uses any oil at all, and I check check it every Friday. So do both those cars have joil

every five thousand miles? Are they both changing like a five to twenty or oh twenty or do they do use different oils? Well? The car I believe is a zero twenty and my pickup I think it's a five. Eric. Thank you, thank you very much. Now ed wants a comment on oil changes, go ahead, ed, Okay, So there's a twelve court oil change and the inner bowl was nine months and there's three courts left where the truck broke down. That oil that the man said there was no leaks.

That oil had to go somewhere. It has to be in the exhaust system. And I couldn't imagine that catalytic converter consuming that much oil and not being able to it wouldn't function. Well, you're right, oil goes somewhere. It either burns or at leaks. But it's also a deel. I was gonna say, it's in the exhaust system, different than the diesel. Yeah, so diesels don't have cattle. That's my comma. Thank you very much, sir. So the whole idea this guy, the whole point was

this that he marked. The whole point was his engine is going and he wants to know why. And they said he didn't check the oil. Isn't that it? They said the oil change done nine months ago was not done properly and he never checked right and he never noticed possible. Yeah, I still think that the customers right here, he should they should be taking care

of his engine. It sounds like he did all the proper steps. We all know those monitors aren't correct, but the consumer doesn't know that he's just following what you gave him. Then they really shouldn't put those monitors in there because they do give you the impression you got a lot of life left. Yeah, but then when they sell you the car, they can't say that it's you know, less maintenance, right they John, what's going on with you? Hello? John? How are you doing? Good Man? What's

happening? I have a simple quick question. Sure, this is a totally different subject. Sure in a civil court environment, is there a standard statute of limitations that I would need to follow on something? Well, there's no standard. It depends on what it is. What is like For example, let me breach of contract would have one, fraud would have another. The breach of contract, it's just a standard breach of contract. Yes, so

you're saying they they absolutely breach the contract from the time of breach. I believe there's a statut you there's there's two statues. Well, no, no, the statue would be from the breach and I think I think it's either two or three years. So, but it's easily found out. I mean, but but to give me the situation, what kind of contract is it? Because insurance contracts spoke to you. What's that. I actually spoke to you about this a year ago. Go ahead, I've been busy. But

what is it? What's that? What is it? My insurance? My health insurance. I went to the doctor, Yeah, went to a standard provider. This is a Medicare insurance. Uh. And they paid the bill and I paid my toepay and everything was fine. A year later they came back and said, no, you had different coverage. We're taking back this money. And they did, and I put all the complaints in, all

the way up the line. And the problem was is that I had ninety days from the event from the doctor's appointment to make a claim or or you know, to protest anything about it. It took the money back because they said you had other coverage. They said I had other coverage, which was not the case, and I proved it to him. But every time I put in a complaint, nobody read the details of what I was trying to

say. You had three years in Colorado for breach of contract. Three years okay, okay, because what happened was you suggested I go to small claims. I went to small claims. They said, no, you can't do that. Here, you have to go to district court. Wait a minute, why, wait, wait, wait? What were you looking for? I was looking to have to get back the money? Did I how much? Doctor? How much? A couple hundred bucks? Well that you don't need to go to district court for that. What are you talking about?

But this is a medicase case, so it will be game state? Wait? Wait wait, wait, wait heaven were you suing the state? No? I was suing a national insurance company. You can sue them in small claims court for a few hundred bucks. I don't even know what you're talking about. At what point were you turned away? I went to file the claim and the clerk at court said, no, you can't do it because they don't have an office in this Now you didn't tell us that. Okay,

that part you left out. It's not because they're a national they have to have an agent in the state. They do have an agent in the state, but they don't have one in the county that I was trying to file in Mark. What would you do in a case like that? Okay, he's gone because he has done enough small claims court following a councula. I thought, first of all, I didn't think you had to go to the county. I mean, you're suing them, right, so why can't

you sue them? Do you say they have a registered agent? Is that right? Yes? That is correct? Who is the registered agent? Is it a corporation? It's it's some conglomerate, right, it's a professional. Okay? You them? And they said, because the registered agent isn't in their county, correct, Well that's not true at all. I mean, I don't know what to tell you, man, But they said, well, you know what you have to do. You have to go online and

fill out the damn form and have them served. But I can't even spile the suit because the clerk of court would not allow me to do it. They said, it has to go to district court. That just if they have an agent. Look at if they have a registered agent in the state of Colorado, you can go to small claims court? And what was the reason they gave you? So? In other words, unless they have an office in the county, you can't sue them. That was what's small?

Come on, man, then how did Mark sue all of these people, Frontier Airlines? How did he sue Uber? How did he sue Lift? How did he sue? Cell phone company? Tell me how they don't have offices in the That was exactly what I tried to do. Well, then you know what, you got a stupid clerk. What else can I tell you? You got a stupid clerk. I don't look at it. I can't fight stupidity. I can't fight it. But but all you have to do, and I thought you could do, you have to literally hand it

to her. No, I can have an agent serve them. I mean, I don't want to know. I'm asking you, why is this woman a roadblock? Can't you electronically file it? They would not. I went to the I wasn't sure what needed to be done, so I filled out the paperwork and I brought it down to the clerk and they said, you cannot. Okay, did you hear me? Don't bring it to the clerk. Okay, just file it. You don't have to go and get the clerk's blessing for it. All of this stuff can be done electronically. For

God's sakes, why would you bother? And so look these people all I can say is we have more and more and more and more and more and more morons working. All you have to do is you got to work around them. Do I owe you? I'm sorry, I gotta teach this. Go with a sure thing Denver's best roofer Excel Roofing dot com. You don't

Go ahead and rant away,

Mike. Thanks Tom. I drive around all the city and I am so tired of seeing the trash left behind by people that hand out food drinks to people on the corners. Nine out of ten times those people just leave it there and walk away. We have got to solve this homeless problem of blight by finding these people that are on public roads giving people money, food,

or drinks on public property. You can do whatever you want on your private property, but I feel like they should be given a fifty seventy five dollars ticket so that that money can go help the homeless problem and get these people to stop giving free money, free food. These people won't leave into the suburbs and into our neighborhood if there's no opportunity to get free money, free food, free drinks on the street corner, because that's what they're doing.

They go out there only to do it because people continue to feed them and support them in the most wrong way. Please, people stop handing food and money and drinks out of your windows. It's making a mess of our city everywhere, So you feel it's the people doing the helping and the feeding and not the people who leave the junk. Well if if they the homeless people are not taking their trash with them, they're leaving it right there at

the intersections. It's everywhere. I see it everywhere. Why can't we put on the back of buses? Would you like to help the homeless? Here's a here's a nine to one one number or eight one one number. Call this and make a charitable donation. And please don't hand out food out money out your window. You're killing the homeless. I mean, we got to have a program that will dry up this, this whole rampant blight, because it's only getting worse. They just keep spreading and living in areas that.

Oh man, this intersection is really good. I'm going to pitch a tent in this field over here and dedicate over here, and I'm just going to go to that intersection because I get like fifty dollars every day and I don't care about the trash I leave behind, you know, I mean, it's it's just wrong. Have you, man, have you been You're talking about corners and stuff and intersections. Have you been to the concentrated areas downtown and

stuff. Yeah. Yeah, And if we would just stop giving them stuff, I mean, if we had food kitchens where they went in, they ate, they threw the trash in the trash can, but they can't walk out and leave it all over the city. I mean, but you know what, here's the point. Here's the point, Mike, Honest to God, even if you did that, there would be people that still want to

be out on the corner. I'm not saying that they can't sit out on the corner, but when we give them the food and the drinks, I know what you're saying, because they just trash it, they just leave it there. That's that's one of many many. I mean, God, o, we have so many problems. You're right. I mean, in a perfect world, we shouldn't do that. But man, I had to tell you, I just don't. I don't know what's going on. I just don't know. I want to know this. If is it us making?

Is it us society? I mean making life more cushy for druggies, drunks, homeless and outlaws that proliferate the problem. I would like to quickly add that there are signs at intersections State signs that say, you know, handouts, don't help, call blankety blank. Really, So there are at intersections at the turn signals saying now it's don't help. And I've seen people under those with help that the science right now give me money. Look, I

here's the thing. I don't think people mind helping people. I think people like helping people. I think the problem comes in, for example, where the mayor takes money away from the police or away from parks, away from this and said this is what we're doing. I think people would gladly. I swear to you. I think there are people and don't think I'm crazy, that would pay as much as of a thousand dollars a year if it went toward truly helping people. It's not the money they're worried about. What

they're worried about is how it's spent. And that's the big that's always been a problem. We don't trust the government to spend it properly. Shooter's gonna help. Come Man six is the Troubleshooter Show. No Tom Martino, Hi, I'm Tom Martino. Welcome. It's card day today. Man. We've been talking about a whole bunch of stuff. We have people with

us from Colorado Springs. I have Honest, Accurate Auto Jesse here and Kevin at sharedan Utitech Jeff from camera transmission and listen. Whatever you want to talk about, we'll talk about solving problems, answering questions, taking your complaints in this car day, of course, and we're talking a little bit about the homeless situation, and people wanted to finish up with that and Josh, Josh wants a comment on that. Go ahead, Josh. You started commenting,

and we were getting towards the end. So go ahead, you have more time now, Yeah? Yeah, tom So. I was saying that in the Supreme Court case of City of Lakewood versus Willis, they affirmed that charitable appeal for needs or for alms is protected under the First Amendment. It absolutely is. You're right, begging is protected. That's right in traditional public forums, especially within traditional public forums. I don't think that guy was complaining about

them asking for stuff. I think he was complaining about the mess they make. Yah, fair enough, which I fully agree with. That you know, you need to clean up after yourself, you know, Listen, I just want to say something about that. I mean, it's you know, I have no idea what it's like to be homeless. But I'm wondering if you are homeless, and is this crazy and stupid? I don't even know. I don't know if it is. But could you be a homeless good

neighbor? Could you be a homeless person but not be a pig? No? I'm serious now? Or are you riddled? Are Do we assume that people are riddled with drug addictions and alcoholism or mental illness and therefore they don't know any better? I wonder about that because I wonder if I became homeless, you know, I don't think I'd be instantly a different person. I would be down and out. But would I all of a sudden just be throwing crap all over them? I don't know, everything you have is with

you, so that may seem messy. Yeah, that's true, So that that could be the correlation that but I'm talking about when they leave, Yeah, I don't know. I mean I hate to be on a lofty throne and say, oh, well like this and they should do better and pull themselves up either bootstrap look at I'll say this again. I love charity. I love helping people, but my god, I will not help anyone if

they don't want to help themselves along with it. And the other thing is this, I think the problem with charity, and we were talking off the air, when the many try to help the few, the money is not accountable. You don't. You just give and it quells your guilt. You give money, or you pass laws, or you say you want to pass laws. You know you're you're you're a person who says you want to do things. You give money and you go to a city council meeting saying they

should have the right to do this, and we should do it. But when the many helped the few, there's no individual accountability. But when you have the few helping the few, when you have families helping families and people helping people and you have a relationship, it's a whole different ballgame because you are saying, hey, man, how about this. Do you need this? I'll help you with this, and you help, and then they become

they become a friend. And I think if we all did a tiny piece, then we had the few helping the few, or the person on person or families with families, it would be way better than the many trying to help the few. We've always done that many helping the few, and we waste money. It just goes out down the drain. Our mayor might have good intentions, but he is an imbecul when it comes to spending money. Not one thing, not one thing is changing. Nothing, nothing is changing.

Do people ever look at that saying, well, wait a minute, we pass all these laws, we take all this money, and nothing ever changes. So Josh, what were you going to say about tires, tires, any recommendations on low rolling resistance tires for electric vehicles? What does that mean, what does that mean? Low resistance tires? What do you mean? Yeah, they're built definitely for electronics. Wait wait, wait, they're built differently for electric cars. Come on, yep, very heavy, very

heavy. Why are they heavy? The electronic vehicles run different. You don't have gas and brake. It's electronic based, right, So the tires go about ten thousand miles typically on an electric vehicle, and they're totally different, totally different setup. I thought they did less wear on tires because the resistance, I know, slows you down. Like my son never uses his brakes ever, he lets off on the gas, never uses brakes. Now,

the brakes last forever. But you're saying tires don't torque too and when you're accelerating. Oh so I never haven't thought of that, so damn it. Every time you think you got an advantage, they take it right away. Hey, the I will say, go ahead, Josh, I'm sorry, Wait, Josh, go ahead. No. I was gonna say, I'm on a pair of Continental Control contacts right now. I got them put on at nine thousand, I'm at forty five thousand now and they're now hitting that.

What car do you have? What car do you have? Twenty twenty leaf. Oh really is it? Is it cool? Oh? Yeah, I like it. I'm you know, I'm almost convinced my next car is going to be electric because I just love the concept of this. There's so many fewer parts and and and things to worry about. There really are. The maintenance on it has been practically nothing. I know, you know, they're minimal, There is no there's virtually no maintenance. I mean, they're

really isn't much maintenance at all. I mean, I think, you know, and I'm not I'm not talking about this for the Church of climate change or all of the other reasons, because I don't believe it reduces a carbon footprint by a lick. But I do believe, I do believe it's better for other reasons. And but I'm not sure what it's going to do to

our labor market. I don't know what it's going to do. Because really, if truly people go to electric and we can find a way to sustain it through solar and other means, I wonder what will happen to like like transmission shops and just people gener just maintenance, peple, I mean, eventually, guys, I mean you're at an age now where you don't care that much, but uh, the industry has to be worried about it a little or these mechanics shops. All industries change. I mean, it's just all

part. I wonder if ass are now learning electric vehicles evs. Oh yeah, we do classes and my guys go to different classes. Okay, we're trying to stay up to be with now, Josh is far tires. Guys, you don't know anything what your complain about the tires you have on there. If there's no complaints, I'd go back to those. Well, you know, I have to see if you guys any recommendations for anything else.

I mean, these tires have been amazing. They're going to start coming out with tires, tires, They're going to start coming out with EV tires or do they have they do? And that's why I was asking if they think if he's happy with those, I literally have tires just for electric cars. Okah see I didn't know that. I hope they're not run flats, because damn, Josh, if you're happy with those tires, go back to them. They're great tires. Are they more expensive than regular tires would be?

I was quoted one fifty yeah. I don't want to say that they're more expensive. They're probably less expensive, to be honest with you, just sound less expensive if it's one fifty per tire. Anyway, thank you. Let's go to Ken, Ken. What's going on with you? Hello? Ken? Yeah? Hi. The first thing I'll say is my problem was caused

by my own mistakes. Uh oh, So what happened was I moved from Delta too for two years ago, okay, and I've ordered stuff online before, and I made the changes I needed to make, and I placed an order with b n H Photo on May twenty. I love that place in New York. I love that place. Yeah. I purchased six hundred and fifty dollars Phonology navs and I didn't notice till after it had shipped. It shipped over to Delta. Now, but why did you have an old address

on file? Yeah? I had moved and I changed it everywhere I ordered. I get it. Yeah, yeah, it was a default address right right? Yeah, so I got it. I got an online it was fat X and had it delivered to a FedEx store over a Delta wouldn't go to the old address. I talked to fat X twice. I talked to be an h photo twice. That says they can't make any changes. And what does that mean that they can't make changes? They won't reroute it to my addressure? No, of course, no they won't. They won't because

they're contract is for that, and you can't. You'd have to do a new You have to have someone go in. You can have a friend or a neighbor or someone go in and just do it. But they won't do it. They told me I had to be over there. Well, no they you can. You can designate someone to pick up your package. Yeah, I don't know anybody over there at this point in time, So that's kind of mute. How expensive is this item? You ordered? Six hundred and fifty dollars? What did you order? By the way, and with

the phonology navs so that storage. So I went back to being a phutto because Satax said only they can make the changes. I don't know if they can once it's once it's delivered, I don't think even they can do it. Well, you know they told me they couldn't do it. Well they can't. It's a very simple system, bro. They deliver where you tell

them to deliver. And then it's over. And the only way you reroute something that has been delivered is if now, if you got to the shipper beforehand, that would have been different, or got before it was delivered. The shipper can then designate a new delivery. If you're notified as coming, you can notify, you can have it rerouted, but once it's delivered, you can't do that. My question is, why didn't you get tracking on this package where you would have seen where it was going and you could have

diverted it. I did, but I didn't notice it was too late. See. So you're right, Ken when you said in the beginning, this is all your problem. So if you're looking for a solution, I'm serious, Ken, you got to find somebody over there to pick it up or drive over. I mean, I don't know what else did tell you. How long of a drive is it? By the way to Delta, it's about five hours? Oh my gosh. Oh man, if you can find somebody to pick it up, if you're from Delta, I've got a place

over an Arrowhead. We might be able to actually meet up and I can bring it back here. Huh. Yeah, I don't know at this point in time. I don't know anybody over in Delta. None. You don't have a friend over there. That's why you left, right. I moved to Delta to get away from Denver. I lived out in the rural area and neighbors around me change pretty often. Yeah, and that's the time that

I moved. I didn't know any either my neighbors. Yeah, I know nothing about Delta actually, so listen, I don't know what I'm trying to think of a solution. I can't think of any I mean, I literally would call and make a friend and let me let me explain that, so you know, I don't sound weird. If you're a member of a church somewhere and they have a branch over there, or or if you have or a civic organization boy scouts, say, look, I know this sounds unusual,

but maybe someone can help me. I don't know. I'm just thinking out of the box because it's a unique problem. Oh yeah, so well, I'm kind of figure I'm going to end up having to drive over there anyway. But so I thought i'd give you a call. Yeah, but man, do you ever get over there anyway? I haven't been since I've moved. I've got a friend that's moving over there, but she's not over there. Yes, oh well, I wish listen what you ought to do

though? Can Katschina get his number in case somebody's in Delta right now listening? I mean, once in a while we get some stragglers to say, wait a minute, I know someone in Delta who knows or outliers three h three seven one three talk A'm way off base today on breaks. Hey, Mark, you have a question about electric cars. You know, I am fascinated with electric cars right now. What about you? Well, I'm not really fascinated. I'm fifty eight.

I'm gonna be retiring in about ten years, so I'm I've gotten with Brooke over their red rocks, and I'm going to have the the solar system, and I'm thinking I can I can live pretty much free, and you can if I had an electric car. Now, I hear the market on them is falling out the bottom. It is kind of wondering it is. Is there going to be a certain time when it's going to be better to buy and also do that? Will the tax credits always be there? You

know? I think that once it becomes you bick and everyone's doing it. The tax credits are going to go away, but I don't think that's going to be for a long time. And as far as the price is, I don't think you can time it because okay, they're all coming down in price in general, and they have a terrible resale, so they're about getting them used. Well, you know what, actually that's a really big point. You probably could get one hell of a deal. You really can.

And it's a good idea, you know, because usually who you're buying from. I looked into why there are so many evs for sale, and this is who you're buying from, people who just didn't get what they thought they were getting. And some people, actually believe it or not, don't like the total silence or the acceleration. No, it bugs them. I'm serious,

I've read. I looked into this specifically because I was thinking about a slight use one because you're talking about saving in some cases for the higher ends thirty grand Okay, so I thought, wait a minute, why are they doing it. I have found the demographic that is most trading them in are the older people. They get them and then they think, then they don't like them. In fact, some of them don't know when it's running.

And what they do is they press on the accelerator thinking they were turned off, and they it just scares them. They don't get a handle. And that's just a fact. I mean, it's something that they're completely not used to. So they're not all being traded in because or sold early because they're junk. They're not. There's nothing, nothing wrong with these cars. And the batteries have plenty of life left. I think you hit on something, you know. You buy a slightly used Tesla, you're gonna save such a

crapload of money. I mean, are there credit? No, you don't get them. No, that's the one thing you won't get on a used one. I can tell you. I got a great deal online. By the way, Deputy Doc bought an electric car. Did you know, Deputy Doc bought one? New Doc? You love your car? Right? Well, you're an old guy, and I don't mean as in assault, but you're an older guy. Did it? Did it? Was it kind of weird for you because you've been driving cars your whole life. The silence,

the acceleration, though, you loved it. But I got to tell you what you drive golf car? So I got a great I got a great deal on it. Talking about you know, it was a twenty seven dollars for a brand new electric car. You can't beat that. And that car he got a deal on. But and it's a beautiful car. Are those cars selling cheaper now? About the same? I don't just got it right. I only bought it two weeks ago. Okay, So what kind of car? Or was it? Again? It was a Hyundai Kona. He

bought the electric ConA. But it was twenty seven. I mean, you can't get anything for that money anymore. No, I know, I know, under thirty grand for a complete new car, all electric. He loves it. And he happened to buy a new place that had his UH charger built in. Yeah, I think I looked up them cars. I think I kind of thought they were ugly or something. Hey, you don't call you don't call up an insult a man's car. Oh, thank you, my super. I'll tell you what though I would go I don't know.

I would go electric. I'm going to go electric. Have electric? What's that does a super making electric? No? Actually they don't, which is really fun? What superc oh? He said that he must have been shopping for it so well, I got another question for your car, guys, said, or there. You know I am fascinated with electric cars right now. What about you?

Well, I'm not really fascinated. I'm gonna be retiring in about ten years, so I've gotten with Brooke over their red rocks, and I'm going to have the the solar system and I'm thinking I can. I can live pretty much free, and you can if I had an electric current. Now I hear the market on them is falling out the bottom. It is kind of wondering it is. Is there gonna be a certain time when it's going to be better to buy and also do that with a tax credits always be there,

you know. I think that once it becomes ubiquitous and everyone's doing it, the tax credits are going to go away. But I don't think that's going to be for a long time. And as far as the price is, I don't think you can time it because okay, they're all coming down in price in general, and they have a terrible resale. So there about getting them used, well, you know what, actually that's a really big point. You probably could get one hell of a deal. You really can.

And it's a good idea, you know, because usually who you're buying from. I looked into why there are so many evs for sale, and this is who you're buying from. People who just didn't get what they thought they were getting. And some people, actually believe it or not, don't like the total silence or the acceleration. No, it bugs them I'm serious.

I've read. I looked into this specifically because I was thinking about a slightly used one, because you're talking about saving in some cases for the higher ends thirty grand Okay, so I thought, wait a minute, why are they doing it. I have found the demographic that is most trading them in are the older people. They get them and then they think, then they

don't like them. In fact, some of them don't know when it's running, and what they do is they press on the accelerator thinking they were turned off, and they it just scares them. They don't get a handle. And and that's just a fact. I mean, it's something that they're completely not used to. So they're not all being traded in because or or sold early because they're junk. They're not. There's nothing nothing wrong with these cars,

and the batteries have plenty of life left. I think you hit on something, you know, you buy a slightly used Tesla, you're gonna save such a crapload of money. I mean credit. No, you don't get them. That's the one thing you won't get on a used one. I can tell you I've got a great deal online. By the way, Deputy Dock bought an electric car. Did you know, Deputy Doc bought one? New Doc? You love your car? Right, Well, you're an old guy, and I don't mean that assult, but you're an older guy.

Did it? Did it? Was it kind of weird for you because you've been driving cars your whole life? The silence, the acceleration. You loved it. But I got to tell you what you drive off cars. I got a great I got a great deal on it. Talking about you know, it was a twenty seven thousand dollars for a brand new electric car. You can't beat that. And that car he got a deal on. But and it's a beautiful car. Are those cars selling cheaper now? About the

same? I don't you just got it right? I only bought it two weeks ago. Okay, So what kind of car was it? Again? It was a Hyundai Kona. He bought the electric ConA. But it was twenty seven I mean, you can't get anything for that money anymore, No, I know, I know, under thirty grand for a complete new car, all electric. He loves it. And he happened to buy a new place that had his UH charger built in. Yeah, I think I looked up them cars. I think I kind of thought they were ugly or something.

Hey, you don't call you don't call up an insult a man's car. Oh, thank you? Now, my super Bowl that was. I'll tell you what though I would go, I don't know. I go electric. I'm going to go electric electric. What's that does a super making electric? No? Actually they don't, which is really fun. What super makes electric? Oh? He said that he must have been shopping for it so well. I got another question for your car, guys, said, are there? I heard a report the other day that Toyota has has go with

Hi Tom Martino, You're a troubleshooter three all three seven one three talk seven one three eight two five five Denverregen dot com is doing hair restoration. Do you know that I might think I might take them up on that anyway, They really are, along with of course some a glue tide for weight loss at only two hundred and fifty a month, and they're doing hair restoration that you have to hear about through stem cells Denverregen dot com. Now let's

talk about electric cars. You have a comment, Keith, what is it so? Two things about electric vehicles? Before somebody buys one, make sure they understand the cost of running the new circuit for the two forty volt because it could be very expensive. Okay, Like, give me an i Keith, Are you an electrician, Yeah, I'm a residential service electrician. Give me an idea, sir, give me an idea, uh, fifteen to three thousand just to run the line from your box to a charger. Yep,

that's about average. Sometimes it's a lot cheaper because it's the panels inside the garage right the time you got to run pipe and it's big wire, big breaker. Yeah, it's a lot of power. Yeah. And and what is it by the foot that wire? You charge it? Typically? Yes, It really depends whether it's going to be in pipe or if it's just in the walls. It really depends, Okay, and what else? What else should they look out for? Do not get an electric car unless

you have a surge protector on your main panel. Now why is that? Why is that every time you get a surge, it's going into your car when you're charging it. So every time your AC turns on, if you have an electric water heater, anything from the grid, it goes right into your electric car. And what does it do to it? So surges basically it's a spike and electricity and it damages all the electrical components. Like it's basically like have you ever but do you know this to be so that it's

actually happened to people? Oh? Yeah, So that's that's why the electric car chargers are the little block that comes with them. Those have a search protector in it, but it's tiny. So if you get one on your main panel, it's way way better. Plus it protects your entire house. And how much are they running nowadays surge protectors depending on which one you get, like six hundred and twelve hundred is that is it kind of like a

conditioner too, Is that what it does? Or just surge searge and they make surge and conditioner combos, but those are like two or three thousand dollars. Those are pretty pricey. What do the conditioners do? So the conditioners, they basically they take out the frequencies that mess up computers. It just okay, gotcha one twenty or one nineteen, whatever the voltage is. Yeah, you don't get the fluctuations. Thank you, Keith. I love my listeners. They're so smart. Really a mike, go ahead, Yeah,

let's call it brought. The new thing I hadn't thought of before the week of Lincoln EV's is still the olithian ion batteries. Imagine running two twenty volts from an older electrical system to power you, Eric Nisher, and also two twenty bolt home charger. Yeah, yeah, it's gonna it's gonna cost you way more than that. I'll bet you way more than what than three thousand? He said, Max? Uh, but what if your lifestyle doesn't is part of that? If you live in an apartment? No, you're right.

A lot of these apartment houses now though, are not apartments but condos. I noticed are putting these EV chargers in their garages, you know, where you get parking with your condo. But you're right, it's we have to work that out. It's it's not it's not something I think that's automatic right now. You do have to consider that. Yeah, another body's going to be able to do it. No, that's for sure. I mean, you're right, it's not going to be for everyone. And I hope

people take that into consideration. I mean especially a lot of people, a lot of younger people who want these cars. They live in these these neighborhoods where they don't even have a garage. I mean, how do you what do you run an extension court out to your house? Or I would hate to have to go to a charging station every few days. So all of that. Now, Larry wants to talk about road noise. Larry, go ahead, what's happening? Hey, Tom? I have a twenty nineteen Sort

Escape. It's the top of the line, it's a platinum edition. Yeah, and it's got eighty thousand miles on it and I can't tell I'm going down the road. We sort of get a lot of road noise coming from the rear of the car. And what is it? A twenty sixteen, Florida Escape No. Twenty nineteen nineteen Ford Escape. Okay, well the Ford Escape as a vehicle in itself, I mean, is it a noisy vehicle compared to a Cadillac? Yes, yeah, I mean was it always noisy

or did it increase? It increased? Now that's weird. Now that's really weird. Yeah, And it's sort of like I thought that they maybe it had thrown a weight on one of the tires, so we had it rebalanced and it's still there. Guys, Why would noise now? Is it a road noise or is it outside? I mean, is it the car generating noise or the road or the or what? Is it more like a wheelbaring or something. You get a humming kind of a noise or a little grinder

like grinding noise. Humming is a good description of it. Does it change pitch when you you know, faster slving, well, faster slow, but more so when you're turning und for right, because you'll load the bearings, it'll change the noise. Oh I never at about that. Will go out and do that, and and take note when you're driving forward at the sound or even you can have your cell phone on and recording it and then go left and go right, and go fast and go slow and see what happens.

Just just kind of swerve along the road like you're like you're drunk, and just pay attention if it gets if it gets louder uh or goes away? Yeah, exactly. And so who can who can I bring it to other than a Ford Dealer ship? Well, guys, what would you do it? You do it all the time. What do you go out and test drive it and figure it out? Let's try to figure it out. Put up in the area. Actually do temperatures too. You could do a

temperature picture. See the overheating bearing. And who's this that speaks okay, we got we got uh? Jeff Fike Kimera Transmissions. He does a lot of drive training and transmission work. And then we have Kevin Caulkin at Sheridan Auto Tech and that's general automotive repairs and maintenance as well as electrical and he's at on Cold Facts west of Wadsworth. I think Jeff worked on my F three fifty transmission and did a great job. So I think where are you

located now, Jeff? I'm blocking a half south of a Rappa hole. On Jordan at sixty eight thirty South Jordan Road. Yep, yeah, you worked on my f three fifty, so I will call up and make an appointment to see if we can get this taken care of. Sounds great, well, thank you? Hi Tom Martino here three oh three seven on three talks seven one three

eight two five five. Do we have a chance to get that woman on real quick? Is she answering her phone? I actually loved her a message. Oh she didn't call, okay, I just wanted to get her on real quickly that's okay, we can rebook it for Monday. I just want to warn people of these scams Medicare. You'll get a call and they're going to tell you they're sending you a new card. Okay. No, if you want a Medicare card, you go on Medicare and get your card you

printed out. If someone calls you they say they need to verify your Medicare information, it's a scam. Please. No one from the government, not the irs, not Medicare, not Medicaid, not anywhere, will ever call you and ask for information over the phone, ever, ever, ever, ever, right, doc yes, and they will only contact you by mail on stationary that has their official logo on that. That's exactly right. We get these calls all the time. Please be aware of that. That is

like ultimately. Now again, here's something else, just to say, it goes to any police organization. Also, cops don't call you on the statute limitation when I said breach of contract was three years. There is something I want to mention. When it comes to a debt being owed and someone breaches the contract to pay you, you have six years to collect it from the time it's due or from the time they stop payments. Okay, so that's six years for that, and that's different than it's kind of a breach,

right because they breached and didn't pay you, But it's a collection. Once it goes after six years, no one can get a judgment. So when you have these collectors coming after you and their old, old old debts and they try to sneak you into paying just one small payment, do you know why they're doing that. It's called novation. It creates a new obligation and then it starts all over again. So please never ever do anything like that.

You should always get verification of debt. They can never come after you for a judgment after six years, just like you can't go after anyone else for a judgment. That doesn't mean they can't try to collect. They can, but they just can't use the courts to do it. And that's really important to know. So you have to just know your rights when it comes to that. Hey, Tom, of course, when talking about the breach of contract, is it three years from the contract or three years from when

you first discover it. Nope, it's three years from the breach or when you discover the breach. So let's say it's a it's four years after the contract was instituted. But you notice they're not doing this right now? You give them notice that's the breach point, and then it goes forward. Yeah, that's very important to know. Otherwise a lot of people would have a contract and then after three years just screw around thinking you can't come after him

because it's done. Now, guys in the autobi is there anything people have to watch out for? Anything? New? Parts are still available? Things? Cats? What anything new? Well, parts are all over the board, they have been. It depends what's the hardest thing to get right now. We have the hardest time with Toyota is what we're having difficult parts? All transmission parts? Transmissions? What about Kevin? The electronic parts modules or

back ordered months at a time, different things. Yeah, so electronics are hard. That sends back to the chip problem we have for almost two years of not being produced right. Okay, what are easy to get breaks? Breaks and stuff? Tires? Yeah, tires are the lubricants, all the filters, all that kind of thing. Okay, and then as far as as far as electrical problems, okay, parasitic drag. If somebody wanted to know, is that only on newer cars. No, no, it could

be on thirties cars. What a parasitic drag? Something in a system is not either not shutting itself down like your computer. Cars always have one though, like every car has a drive some Yes that even if it sits there, Yes, to keep things active. Eventually it will eat the battery down. You know, how long does your car have to sit before you worry about a tender a battery? I would say anything more than a week?

Is so you're going to keep your car in storage for the winter or the summer you do a tender, yes, I would, And it's just a little maintainer. You don't need a charger. No, no, no, right by the way, sardan auto tech dot com. That's Kevin Colkin and Jeff Vic at Kimera Transmission. Is that Transmissions Denver dot com And we are at three h three Martino, Save all your problems for me.
