Everybody's talking about
AI, and it really is AI. I mean, you put your address in, it captures satellite imagery, maps out your roof, and then gives you a price based on what you want, whether it's the same roof you have, or you can upgrade or I guess even downgrade whatever. I mean, you can pick whatever materials you want. Jay, you say that you're finding it's within five percent basically, yeah, within five percent. It's very accurate, and you plug your prices in there, right So they're talking about
you. They are. It's it's based on insurance pricing, but it's very close to exactly what an insurance settlement will be. But in this time that we're in right now, everybody wants information. They want to know exactly how much it's going to cost. They want to know what kind of roofs are out there and available. So it's that information that you that you want to know up front, and then you choose a contractor we're going to talk about
coming up supplementing supplements. So many people are confused with supplements now, they confuse supplements with cheating. Now sometimes I guess it could be. But we'll talk about that coming up. I want to take some calls right now from you three oh three seven one three talk seven one three eight two five five, And first I'm going to take Adam. Then Deputy Doc has some follow ups and is sues around or Mark, because I got some really cool stuff
to tell. I'm the only one in a studio, Tom. Okay, but I did Mark sign on? Channon? Do you know of Mark's coming on Kachina or sus I texted him. I haven't heard back yet. Okay, all right. Sometimes they have problems connecting from the from the Death Star in Franktown. This is the this is the mothership here and uh I have I had trouble too, but Shannon, uh somehow worked it out. He didn't tell me what he did. The first thing that happens with technology.
Let me tell you the trick with technology. If you ever ever have a technological problem ever, okay, ever, and you call support, what's the very first thing they say, come on, what's the very first, now here's what's jasport anywhere? We've never heard that before. I hate that answer. No, but they make you feel like you're the only one that ever experienced it unless you go to the internet you find out everyone's having the problem. But then the next thing, which is Shannon's trick, and that is
did you change anything? And I said, no, I did not. I mean, I come into my studio and I turn, I flip a switch. What do I change? I don't change squat but Shannon saying he swears I changed something, and then Kelly and Mark chime in in the chorus. But anyway, let's go to Adam. Hi, Adam, I got some email from you, bro, I got some email from you. Let me let me just bring that up here the Geico Right, go ahead,
I got it here. Tell your story. Actually, this is very detailed, so we don't have we don't have to be this detailed on on on the phone, but but tell your story. It's very interesting. Yeah, we got an email from Geico that somebody who's going to be added to our policy and we didn't know the individuals, so we called and said, did you change anything? Here? Yeah, we're just kidding. Go ahead. So so Geico, when you got to notice just out of the blue saying
we are adding someone. Yeah, so just that fact alone like just boggles my mind. That the ca But maybe it was just a mistake. I mean, so you know, Okay, so then what So I call them and I say, I don't know this individual, Please don't add this person to the policy. And I said, why would you add this person in the policy? Oh, well, they're living in a house that matches an address that we have for you. Okay, yeah, that's force coverage.
You know why they do that? At them and they make mistakes at it, but you know why they do it. A lot of people do not ensure their kids or their dependents. And if you have licensed drivers living with you, and by the way, people should know this, not just kids. In fact, I'm gonna have Compass talk about this. But keep going at him. Then what happened? Yeah, I get the intent, but I said, well, we live in Utah. This person lives in Missouri,
so yep, not associated. Well they added the person anyway, and we found out wait a minute, wait a minute, this is in a different state. Yeah, that doesn't even make sense to me. We yeah, just to clarify. So we own the home in Missouri where this person lives, and so they saw the association. So there course you're a landlord, right Are you a landlord or are they your kid? Yep, yeah, I'm a landlord in the family. But I just need to know something at him. Are they your kid? No? No, this is the
tenant who has a child who apparently just got licensed or something. Gotcha? Okay, Hey, I want you to hold on, Adam. I'm not going to put you off. I mean I'm not gonna hang up on you. I want to get compass on because let's talk about some real stuff here. You hang on because I think everyone will be interested in this. And I'll tell you why, Adam, Why I like your call. There are so many parents who do not understand their rates will automatically go up when their
kids turn a certain age, and you can't always exclude them. Now, this is the first time I ever heard of a landlord having his rates go up because a tenant got his license. This is going to be very interesting. Hang on, okay, please, a deputy doc. What is going on with you? Well, remember Chuck called up yesterday about a problem with Midas at his breaks. Chuck. Yes, he said, he has a
two thousand and three Midas. Now, by the way, they charge him two grand for some stuff and he chose to do the breaks only for four hundred bucks. Now he said, they turned the drums and they broke, and he's pissed. Okay, I spoke to the people. I mind is they were very forthcoming. They said that what they offered him to do a break job, he couldn't afford it. So what they did was they just ground down some of the excrescences on the surface of the brake and put in
a chain. I feel what that was for a snapchain or something, and that costs four hundred and thirty eight dollars. He went back to them because his brakes had failed because they were heat distorted them, and Aaron said that, okay, we told you this is going to happen. If you want us to do to do a replace the breakes and do a break job,
it's going to cost another seven hundred dollars. Now. One thing I want to mention, I got a text from from our friend Eye Ted who's and he works on He works on cars, and he said that Midas should have never offered to turn those drums on an old car. Because now did they actually turn those drums? Did you do? You know? Because he said that was a waste. Well, and he said, you can buy brand new drums for about forty bucks. So what are they going to do for
seven hundred? Do you know? Doc? Yeah, they're gonna do a complete break job and replace the rear brakes, hardware, new shoes, and a bunch of other Stuff's gonna cost about seven hundred bucks. But you don't They don't feel they did anything wrong. He feels like he paid for nothing. They gave him a temporary fix for basically four hundred bucks that they told him exactly what they were doing. But what would it have cost if he did the four hundred in the beginning, if he wanted the whole job in
the beginning? Well, I don't know, because he said he couldn't afford it. Yeah, but what I don't Okay? All right, So because the numbers aren't adding up. In the beginning, they told him two grand, now they're telling him he spent four hundred and an additional seven hundred will get him whole, will get him on the road, And that's a total of eleven Okay, that's okay, that's not your job. It's just didn't
make sense to me completely. But what did he say about this? Well, he he said that they should have told him that, and and he and you know, he said one thing, Midas says another. But the guy from Midas, Aaron, was very specific about what was done. He was very forthcoming. And I think there was some misunderstanding on Chuck's part that he thought they were doing a total fix, and Aaron told him it was just it was just temporary and that it was going to fail unless he got
a full break job. And I believe Aaron. Okay, okay, you know that's fine, that's what, that's what, that's why we have you do it. So thank you. Anything else going on, Doc? After a while, you know, we kind of get a feeling for who's who's joking us around? No, No, I understand, I don't know. I don't think the guy was jerking us around, the consumer. I just think he didn't understand. No, I'm a Daron, the minus guy. Oh yeah, no, no, he's not jerking us around. Thank you
very much, Doc. We got more coming up on Tom Martino three O three seven one three Talks seven one three eight two five five Frank durand the real estate Man. You know what he does. Hi Tom Martino here three o three seven one three talk three oh three seven one three eight two five five. I want to go back to, uh, the insurance thing right now? Do we have him on still? Yeah? Do we? Yeah? Adam, so Adam. I
want to bring you back up. Jeremy. Now, Jeremy, I want to ask you a couple questions because this is a really good topic, and that is, when you have kids living in your house and they get a license, how does your insurance company know your auto insurance company. And this is Jeremy with Compass Insurance Group. Our insurance experts go ahead, they know because you have a lot to tell them. Yeah, but I'm talking about when you don't tell them, how do they do? How do they find
out if they do? I don't know if they do like they do? Yeah, it feels like every day there's a new report or something. You know, they're they're pulling all this information to get this info because they want to make sure that all the household members are on there. So there's different reports that they'll pull on that and I don't know the details of you know,
specifically where those are coming from. But we get notifications all the time, Hey, possible household member, whether it's a newly licensed kid, and what do they want you to do? Do they let me ask you this. If I have a son living with me or a daughter and they have a license, am I required to carry insurance? And on my household cars? You have to add them onto your policy if you want them to be
covered from your cars. So there's a big okay. But if you don't want them, I heard they make you do it anyway because they're part of the household. Well, what they're doing now is they're making you exclude them, so you okay, So that was difficult to do before. So can you exclude your children? Then you absolutely can. But they're even charging for that. So even to add let's say you're paying a thousand a month and you want to exclude your kid, they're going to charge for that exclusion.
It's usually going to be a lot less than what it would cost to add. How much for the ablusion roughly it can vary by company. It could be one hundred bucks. Just okay, So I want to know this, so you can exclude them, you can add them. What if they have their own car and their own insurance, will that suffice where you won't have to exclude them and you won't have have to cover them. Most companies know it won't anymore. I have two companies out of all of our companies that
would still allow that scenario the right. So, if my kid is living with me and has his own car and his own insurance, they still want me to cover them. You'd have to include him or exclude them. Yeah, wow, I do now companies, but most of them are going to require that. Now, what if you never told them about your kid and they never found out what happens if your child gets into an accident? Would they be covered in your car? You're gonna have problems, you know,
And a lot of this comes down to what's the accident. You know, they back into a poll, They're probably not gonna sweat that it gets a little bit more severe. They're absolutely going to fight back because all right, now, let's now let's go to another scenario. And that's what the caller is calling about. Adam has This is weird. Adam lives in one state and has a rental in another state, and they're okay, now, they're
not close to each other. So in his rental, one of the kids living in his rental with their parents turned old enough to get his license? Is? Do I have that right? Adam? That's right? And so Geico sent him notice that you're now going to be charged for that kid on his auto policy. Yeah, on his autopolicy, and that he lives. That problem is that they're pulling from all these random sources. And you can see how clearly inaccurate that is in that case. So a lot of times
that are wrong. Now, have you tried calling Geico to Yeah, did you call him and just say this is a mistake and did they believe you? What? Tell me what happened there? Yeah? I called them earlier last week and I said, why are my premium so high? And I said, well because of this teenage driver. And I said, I called
you on January third and told you to not add him. And I wait a minute, Wait a minute, what do you mean you called him and told their account so that it was super clear there's no association, Adam, Adam, did you call them after getting a notice he was going to be added? Yeah, we called on January third, the day we got the notice. I got it and you said, this kid is not mine, he doesn't live with me, it's a rental. Blah blah blah, exactly
and they added them anyway. Yep. And I didn't find out until last week when I looked. I trusted that they would change it because they changed the address they have a record. Oh that's just poor customer service. That's just poor customer service. Yeah, I mean that. Yeah, it was very frustrat Let me ask you something, Adam. By the way, Compass, guys, are you licensed in Utah or not? We are licensed in Utah. We can't as many Adam and uses Colorado, but we are there.
Adam, I want to ask you something. You have Geico for your car insurance? Who do you have your home? We have out owners? Okay, good company. It depends. But I'm going to just make this suggestion. I'm not trying to hit you up. I truly want to challenge you to call Compass when you get a chance and ask them, for the hell of it, to just review your policies and see what you have and
what you're being charged. I just want you to know that eighty five percent of the time they've been able to not only help people with their coverage get better coverage, but usually lower their costs by significantly. And again, you should, in my opinion, if you have cars in a home, Jeremy, isn't it always more cost effective to bundle them under one company or not? What do you think most times it is? I mean there are times
where we will split them up. They're pretty rare at this point. A lot of companies at this point won't even ensure your home if they don't have the auto. So when we're running a quote, you know it's going to be a couple companies left that will just do your home versus all the companies if we also have the auto. So that's really hard to combat when you're talking about that kind of eligibility. And then I want to ask you about
Geico in general. Have you found when people call in for an insurance checkup, can you usually find better than Geico as far as pricing or not? A lot of times we do Geico's We sometimes I don't even come close and it's like I have no idea how they're getting that rate. And other times, you know, most of my companies are going to beat them. So it really is hit or missed. It's certainly worth checking because in this market right now, you know, there's just no rhyme or reason to anything.
And what about Auto Owners a good company, right, I love Auto Owners. Yeah. I mean they're a company my parents with Auto Owners have for years. They're really good company. And can I tell you why I have Auto Owners? Well? Auto Owners is good, by the way, Adam, Yeah, why do you have them other than they're a good company. We had Liberty Mutual, but we had a return line, water leak, a toilet seal breaking our house in October and Liberty Home Guard or Liberty Mutual
said we're no longer going to cover you. So I needed to find another insurance company. So I thought that was egregious, so I found Auto Owners to cover us. Wow, yeah, it's not egregious to keep canceled. Well it is for one claim? Was it only one claim you had? No, we had a hell claim before, And they said two claims in five years is put to that risk? And I said, it's really clear that it's a return line, not a supply line. Water leak. Supply
line I can understand because the house is a certain age. If you have one supply line, what do you mean by a return line? I don't know what you mean. Supply line is under pressure, so you're pushing water into that? Do you mean a drain. When you say a return line, are you talking about drains? Yeah, yeah, it's just a water seal, like a wax seal. And so I offered to change all the wax seals in the home. I even offered to change the supply line.
Let me ask you something, was that wax seal? Did that drain over? Did that cost a lot of money to fix that? You put in a claim for that? Usually you can buy it a home depot. It's no, no, I'm asking you. When you had a claim for that? Was it a big claim? Is that why you put a claim in for toilet leaks? It was, yeah, because it's upstairs that leaked into the below. I got it. I got it. Hey, just for the hell of it, Adam, because you have rentals, you have cars,
you have a home. You ought to. I mean, it's not going to cost you anything to do an insurance review with them. I'm serious. I'm like I said, I don't get a dime for saying I mean, I, oh, they're a sponsor. I don't want to make I want to make that clear, but I don't get any extra money for signing people up. I just thought thought you should do a review just and for the hell of it, see if they can beat it. And if they can, I'd love to talk about it. Or if they can't, I
mean, but but you know, that's deaths on you. If they're at three h three nine nine six nine thousand, you ought to try it. But meanwhile, meanwhile, you did you get them removed from your policy in Missouri? They are now? Yes, they are now. You just wanted to call and give us the heads up because this was a pain in the ass, Yeah, it was. It was. It was frustrating to have communicated we don't know this person, don't add him, and they added him
anyway. So just awareness that that happened, and it's you know what, it's a good it's a good awareness and a good thing to remind people of. Hi Tom Martino, you're troubleshooter. You know, the most important guest here today hasn't really
said anything yet. And it's not Jaybrett, said excel roofing. It's it's really Charlie Bretts. Do you know who? Charlie Bretts is? Mark's dog. We're gonna put him on camera. Let's I'm gonna put the camera right on him. It's a little corny, not the white shot. I'm putting that camera over there there, So go sit down there. There he is. Now, if you want to see the cutest dog alive, then you can tune into my YouTube or Facebook and see him. That's Charlie. Charlie.
Say something, say something. He doesn't. He doesn't speak on command. That's not Charlie. That's sham. There are some words that will get his attention. Oh oh yeah, I see. Now here's the deal. We tried giving Charlie a treat and he's a treat snob. He didn't want anything biscuit. He wants popperoni or meaty. He likes beef jerky. Everybody, look, I got his attention to everybody needs to go to YouTube or yeah, and you'll see the cutest that Charlie is the cutest, you know.
I think he's got popular after that series The Crown, I really do. And they found out about the Queen Love and the Corkis because I see them all over now. They're smart dogs too, Yeah they are. I've never had a smaller dog. And he's more convenient for sure. Yeah, he's smart. And they're cattle dogs. They go all day long, So don't buy a Corgi unless you've got time to go exercise that guy. But they have good bladders. He's telling me to my god, he's got the
world's biggest bladder. He doesn't pee, I mean, I mean he doesn't pee in the house. He can pee for a minute straight. Hey a less what's going on with you? Less, Yes, sir, thank you for taking my calls here. What's happening, less oile. I've been arguing with a Department of Revenue Sales Tax Division. Okay, oh wow, what's going on with sales tax? Weill they try and charge you for stuff. Well, well, let's put it this way. I do all a little bit. But are you First of all, let me ask you this.
Are you in business? Is that what it is? What's that? Do you own a business? Yes? Sir? Okay? And are they saying that you did not collect enough? You know, they're saying, I, well that I owe taxes that I don't. Oh, and I don't know really why because the only thing they'll do is try and put tell you that's under your sales tax deal and you can't get to it unless you put your banking information on the web. Yeah, but let's hold on a second information
Mark Mark and SEUs. Mark and SEUs have dealt with this, you know, owning businesses before. And while we don't deal with sales tax, we've handled a lot of these cases and have a lot of experts. But you're not giving me enough. You're just saying, you know, they say, oh you don't. I mean, what exactly are they saying happened? What are they saying you did not? Generally they come in and audit. Did you get audited? No, you didn't get audited. So what did you
not do? You didn't put the forming when it was due? Are you doing monthly? Quarterly? Yeah? That's what we need to know. How did this start? How did this start? Okay, I started my business back up again, and while I don't know twenty nineteen, I guess it was started filing sales tax, you know. And I didn't understand that they have all of these deals that you had to do. I do business in
different counties. I do nothing in park Or where I live, and my sales tax deal is out of what they call triple O one or something. And I didn't let me ask. You said that, Mark, with sales tax? Do you file quarterly or monthly? How do you do that? It depends most people are going to be doing it monthly, unless if you're not making Jack and Mark. When you file a return monthly, you put down your transactions and stuff, and then what you collected you send to the
state. Is that how it works? The state, the county, the municipality. I mean, Jay, he probably doesn't do his own books, but he can attest that if he does a roof in Douglas County, he's or in Castle Rock, for example, he's going to pay sales tax to Castle Rock or collect it. He's going to pay sales tax to Doug. So that's really complicated. You have to like pay sales tax all over the place, right, Jay. So what we do is when we buy the
material whoever we buy the materials from pays the sales tax on that. However, we have to get a permit. That permit is half and half half of it is for the permit inspection. The other part of it's a use tax. And that use tax is non refundable. And then I'll tell you that we have we have no HVAC companies do it like you don't have to few individual sales taxes then because your supplier pays them. If the supplier did not take those out, we would have to and we have had to do
some in the past. Yeah, but they take them out on that job. Yes, then, which is Schumer does consumer pay that? Then ultimately they have to pay because it's all wrapped up in the job. But wherever the point of sale is, so the get is where the sales tax is charged. So it is, I think, but it's charged by the supplier, not by you. The supplier charges me for it, yes, and then you charge, but the but the it's the supplier that does the tax
return they do. Okay, that's okay, Mark, what were you going to say, Well, I realize he does it that way like HVAC companies, But I'm just going to tell him the time is going to come to an end. And here's why he's buying material at a wholesale value even though he's paying sales tax on it when he sells it to the consumer. It'd be like me buying tires from Goodyear for fifty dollars and paying sales tax on fifty, but then I sell the tire for one hundred dollars and don't collect
the additional sales tax. Those days will come to an end. And they have another states what saying you mark up those roofing supplies right after paying sales tax on a lower amount that would be considered the profit and the job, and then the profit is taxed by the state, so the municipality doesn't necessarily share. And but they're at a specific part, but they're probably But but Mark is saying that if that roof that you bought for one hundred dollars is
sold to the consumer at one hundred and ten dollars. Then that everyone's going to want a piece of that extra ten bucks. Yeah, and the unfortunate part of this story for me is there's not a huge difference between a wholesale and a retail price. People can go down there, I understand, But
they're the people at March sid Is. They're going to be greedy. I'm not saying they're going to come after you, but because a lot of pill that What Mark's point is is that we're getting the material to much discounted wholesale rate and they're not necessarily Well, there's roofers I'm talking about. I'm talking about people that buy a furnace from the wholesalers for fifteen hundred and they sell it for eight thousand dollars. That Mark, they're getting away. They're they're
getting away with it. I mean, every one of them is doing it that way. Yeah, they're got My point is they're going to clamp down. Other states have put it in. But here's what I want to know. Here's what I really want to know, Mark, And I don't want to stir a or open up a whole can of worms here, but here's your deal. Okay, let's say a company buys a furnace for a couple grand and sells it for eight Now they make six grand. They're not paying
sales tax on, right, Yeah, isn't that right? Right? Yeah? Six grand? Six grand at that sale. The sales tax is not being paid on. It's being paid to the the for the two thousand to the supplier. But here's what I want to know. Do they charge the consumer on the whole eight thousand sales tax? Because if they did, then that's real they're profiting by that. Yeah, down to that, I well
know. No, okay, So when they when they charge the sales tax to the consumer, are they charging them the sales tax that they paid the supplier or are they paying charging them sales tax on the retail They're they're passing along their sales tax to the consumer. My point is that they should be charging more. No, I see what you're saying. They don't do a separate line item for tax, like you don't do that well, and if you look at a lot of line item for material, so they well right
barely do that. Jay. They give one price of eight thousand dollars and most HVAC companies don't break down labor at all. No, they don't. It's a it's an eight thousand dollars price for the entire job and the labor the material is labor sales tax as well. Then not the end. No, okay, so right now though in normal business only, materials are sales taxed in Colorado as of this second. So Mark, I get back. I didn't forget about you less. But what Mark is saying is valid.
If you if you had a line item on your contract saying, Okay, the furnace, we bought it for ten and we're going to charge the customer four thousand finals from you do a lump some I get what you're saying. They would have to prove that that some of that markup was on the material. You could say, no, it's not, it's just what we charge. They would have his profit. That's what you're saying. I get what. I get what he's saying. We listen, I'm gonna come back to
you less. Hold on, we got to take this break. Go with a sure thing Denver's Best roofer Excel roofing dot com. Hi, Tom Martino, your troubleshooter three O three seven one three talks seven one three eight two five five less has an issue with collections, and he says what happens is he's he went back in business in twenty nineteen, has been filing sales tax returns. Now the state says he owes more than he says that he's paid in. Is that basically it less? Ah? Yes, sir? Okay? Do you have an accountant? Do you have an account
sir? No? Did they do an audit of your sales tax report? No, that's what you need to do. Did the state do an audit? No? What are they basing it? Audit? Well, what the problem is, I think, Tom? Let's say I do ten thousand dollars a month in sales. Eight thousand of that is two state institutions the stuff that's tax free, then the other stuff. I filed taxes on a sure three different counties under different counties. Well, but I wasn't filing under my

No Tom Martino, Hi Tom Martino here, Welcome to the show. Solving problems, answering questions, taking complaints, and making life just a little easier. What is happening in your life and how can we help you? So what I need you to do is give me a call. For some reason, I got signed out here, but I have to sign back in to get my email, I mean my call screener. So tell me who's next. I'll just take the call. Do we have anybody waiting? We still have Less? Okay, yeah, so less, Mark, you have to
help me on this since I don't understand fully why this is. I still don't know what. It sounds like he's simply not reporting sales taxes that correct. Less, No, I'm reporting what I've collected. But what I say like, I didn't understand. I had to file a return until middle of twenty twenty two for the what they call the triple oh one Parker address, which I never sell anything out of. Now, why would they make you hold on? How are they determining? How are they determining where you have
to file it from? I don't get that part. I don't know they come up with. There's I've got to file nine different eight different locations, depending on where my customer is, whether it's Phillips County, whether it's alf Passo County, whether it's so Mark, is that right do you have to file in each state that you do business? I mean, excuse me, in each subdivision you do business? Is that? Is that right or wrong?
I mean I don't I don't have any idea how Yes, every Yes, I'm sorry, I thought I was talking but didn't have my mute off. So yes, every municipality that you sell a part in, and any county, and then of course the state. Quite frankly, a lot of people don't get this, and no one does it that I know of. But if you have a garage sale, you are supposed to collect sales tax. No I know, I know now less, let me ask you something.
Is it only one location they're questioning right now? Well, I file when I found out that I had to file this one for what they called triple O one. I file all of them because they're all zeros. But nobody's handled it. And the state does whatever they want on your account. If they'll cash your check, they may give you credit for it, they may not they made less. What I'm asking is what I'm asking is they're saying you didn't file for one of your locations. Is that what it's boiling
down to? I guess that's what it is. And how much do they say you owe for that? Well, a couple thousand dollars. But you said you did not make any sales in that county or in that city, right, But why does the state care, Mark about the local counties? Do they collect that too? No, you send that to the local counties. I don't know if the state helps out there end up to the state. You send it to the state. Okay, I only had five retails. Okay, go ahead, Less, keep telling me how it is.
So wait, Mark, you mean to tell me you have to send in a return to the state and to every single county. Yes, that's what we would do. Man, if if it was in Denver, we would send it. Why don't you hire get audited by Denver. Why don't you have a professional. Why don't you have a bookkeeper or a tax guy or something you can do this with. I mean, when you're in business, why don't it's gonna save you money in the long run. I've just always
done it myself. Okay, Well, according to Mark, you're doing it wrong. Less, I don't not really, I don't know if he's doing it wrong or not. All I'm telling you is something's not right. If they're coming after them. Now. You mentioned something at the beginning, Less that you can't even log in, log on and see stuff because you don't
want to attach your bank account info. I don't know what to tell you with that aspect of it, because if that's how it's set up now with Colorado, in order for you to log on, they got to have your information that I'm not going to change that. Time's not going to change it. I mean, you can pretty much trust them for that. I've never heard of the state hacking into your bank account. You don't have any choice. You have to give them that information. Less. I just think that,
yeah, you might. You might be living an anachronistic life, let's put it that way, and and that's out of your time possibly, I think. Isn't that what an anachronism is? I believe it is. But but I don't know what else to tell you, Bro, I really don't. Now. Sharon has a follow up from two weeks ago on medical billing, and again I want to try to find her call here and let her talk about it. So, Sharon, why did you start talking? I'll find your call. Does this have to do when did you call? When
did you call last. I think there's about two or two and a half, first three weeks ago. But anyway, I just wanted to tell you thank you. And John from Integra was very Oh, yes, he's wonderful. He really is integral for what he had done and reached out to me, and so I sent a check. Is this from a mass ectomy? Yes? Yes, yes it is. Yeah, you had an out of network a medical This was what's weird. The procedure was. But there was
an out of network medical assistant. And You're ETNA policy said they're only going to pay twenty percent of that, right correct? No, no, excuse me that you have to pay twenty percent of that, right right? So how did that turn out? After John Jones over at Integra Insurance? Of course they didn't. They didn't handle They handled this for us as a favor. They didn't sell you the insurance. But how did this happen? I
mean, what did they do? As far as I know, he and I conferred and he conferred with other people, and I sent the twenty percent check to her, and he stated that I should put on there. I am considering this as a payment in full, and so I did that and the check has been cashed, so as according to him, it's a done deal, so she can't come back at me. Well, why were they trying to get more? Yeah, three thousand dollars, But why were they
trying you get this, I noted here this twenty nine. Why were they trying to get more than twenty percent? I don't know. That's what I don't understand. I put in PaperWorks and bills from a that I'm not paying the facility fee. I mean, I just did everything I could think of the research that I don't know where she came up with this figure, and no one knows where she came up with a ten thousand dollars bill for charge.
So because my primary surgeon was forty three hundred dollars, so twenty percent of that was eight hundred and sixty nine bucks. Okay, what ten thousand? I get what you're saying. So she was overcharging, is what you're saying. Very very are you know? I like to know how people are supposed to know what's in network and what's at a network and what they're going to pay with. I mean, shouldn't they give you a complete breakdown?
This was not an emergency. Did they give you a complete cost breakdown at all. No, No, that was another surprise to me. I went through that Federal Surprise Act because that should have never been I mean, twenty percent of the surgeons ys I can agree with that, but not twenty nine hundred seventy one dollars. So that was that was, like I said, the Federal Acts Surprise Act. I mean, you name it everything that we could come up with, because this was totally bizarre from everyone that I had
talked to. Okay, and I agree, by the way, for this medical assistant was ten grand or something. It's crazy, okay, yes, Oh, usually when you when I've used medical assistance, you you just tell them will you accept what insurance pays? And if they don't do it, then you just don't use somebody else. But most of the people I know that in medical assistants are very eager to work, and they would rather work for insurance than to turn down a surgeon who may not never use them again.
So I never even realized that they're separate billing entities. Well, you always it's very there are very few surgeries where you only have a surgeon. Almost all surgeris you need at least one assistant. But I always thought the doctor took his own assistant. Well, I had a friend. We did ninety percent of our surgeries together, his surgeries and mine. Occasionally, if somebody's not available, you'll just get a surgical assistant to work with you.
And the ones that I knew who wanted my business would accept what insurance paid. Well, the insurance denied every penny of it. So is my responsibility. And that's when this wait. They denied every penny of the medical assistant. Of the medical assistant when she turned in that ten thousand and some odd
dollars. Their statement was a nurse could have assisted the medical doctor, and that was what And I even sent an appeal to the doctor, I mean to the insurance company, but they were not going to budge ten grand. You know that was out of the question. And who is your insurance? Did you say what? Where? It was? Ata? Right? Okay, but listen, thank you for the follow up. That's you know.
I know of a case. Listen to this mark where the guy went in to urgent care and the procedure was covered, but they would not cover the numbing medicine he had to have stitches in his hand. Now have you ever heard such a crazy and they but and here's what they charged for the shots. They charged like I believe it was twenty three or twenty four hundred dollars to numb his hand. God, that's just outrageous. Twenty three dollars for
some where twenty four or something like that could have been twenty eight. It was around three grand or a little lesson you know, if they if they denied the local and aesthetic tom, I would bet nine times out of ten it was a coding era. Could be maybe it was, I mean, but there's so many codes you missed by one digit, and it could be any amount because that that. But I mean, it's like they walk up and say hey. It's not like they walked up and say, hey,
do you want to numb your hand? It'll be an extra three grand. Your insurance is not fay no, No, they put in their own code. That's the only way that could happen. Yeah, because how could you in an emergency turn down numbing. Well, we'll pay for the stitching, sir, but we're not numbing that up there. Right, it's a coding era. Here, here's a potato to bite on. I mean, oh man, you know, speaking of numbing and anesthesia and anesthetics and well whatever
you call them, and that's local and the physiologists. Could you imagine, no no thing. Think about that alone when it comes to advancements, and to me, anesthetics were the number Anesthesia is the number one advancement in medicine of all time. In my opinion, that's one of them. I mean, wouldn't you say, well, I mean, come on, how the hell did they do surgery? I think sterilization would have to be first, well, and then yeah, and then but how did they do surgery?
Very quickly? During the Civil War when they had innumerable amputations? Doctors were based, you know, on how fast they could amputate a limb. They did it so quickly. They gave the guy a couple of shots of booze and then they took the limb off. But they were really no, no, no, my god in heaven, I can't even does your body no, I'm serious, Doc, you're a doctor. You probably study this. Does your body shut down? Sometimes you go with the shock? But does
that when you go into shock? Does it shut down where you don't feel it as much? If you're took a total shock? Now ken it can shock like that kill you. You know, I don't know, Tom, Okay, all right, it's just Tom. I think you just do what you gotta do. Like that guy that got stuck in the canyon in Utah and had to cut his arm off with the with the leatherman knife. I know a guy that got his hand his arm stuck in one of these farm
equipments where there it's the combine. Yes, and I'll listen. I think that's what they call it. His arm was ripped off. Now for no, no, it wasn't really it was almost ripped off, but he is. So he had to hold it up there on purpose to make they see. He couldn't get out of there, so he had to finish the job, do you know what I'm saying? Because it was caught partially partially cut off, so he had to lean into it, lean into it to take it all off. Then he had the presence of mind after that it was
gushing blood. To hold it up against the was a belt spinning still, I think is that a combine of a belt. Whatever this was had a belt in order to cauterize it. He held it onto the belt because it was going so fast it kind of it burned his flesh together. Then he listened to this man. It's true. He gets in a car and drives himself to the hospital. Incredible, But there was nothing to take to the
hospital to have sowd on. It was Hamburger. So basically, I mean, I know I should be telling people to tune out, I guess, or to at least cover your ears if you're queasy. But that's a true story. The man's now deceased. But oh my god, what a story. We got more coming up. Go with a sure thing Denver's Best roofer Excel Roofing dot com. You don't pay a cent until you're content. Were

It doesn't even come close to copilot, and co Pilot talks to chat dozen so I can say copilot blah blah blah and it will do it. Oh, I want to do an experiment here, honesty, gosh, I'm gonna do an experiment. Yes, copilot? Who the best roof? Hold on? Hold on? Hold on? What can you tell me about Mark
Major? Who lives in Denver, Colorado area? Oh, don't make me put your name in I already did, Lord knows hold on, hold on, Mark, hold on listen. Oh they see they don't have your spelling. A few individuals named Mark Major associated with It's the wrong one. It's the wrong spelling. Never mind, Well, how do I make very handsome, well educated? Keep going? Hold on? Hold what do you hold about Mark? Holder on the Troubleshow what can you tell me about Mark Major?
Spelled? He doesn't even list me on the show. I don't know what you're talking are I am pretty absolutely serious? That sounds like you've been hold on, hold on ghost it no, see, never mind totally this one does chat brought them up anyway? Three oh three seven one three talk seven one three eight two five five? John, what's happening man? What's going on? John? I'm doing well? How are you good? Man? What's happening? Hey? So I thought about coming owner operating three years
ago? Wait? You became an owner operator three years ago? Yes? Okay? And I bought of semi chops and uh, it's patrick could be giving your problems since day one? Now? Did you buy a used semi? Yes? I did, and it's gonna this is gonna be like any used car or used vehicle purchase. What I'd like to know is what did you buy? Two even sleeper? Wait? Wait a two thousand eleven? Oh? I got it? Twenty eleven? What kind? Uh? Freightliner? Okay? And did you go to a major? Did you buy the
trailer too or just the cab? Just a cab? It's a sleeper for one okay? Now what is going on with it? So? From day one? How did we get to Uh? I went to the shop to look at it because that's where they had it before they Was this a dealer? Was this a dealer? Yes? Who's the dealer? Uh? Whether didn't I say? Right? Now, okay, go ahead. Then what happened? Yeah, they're a border off in Commer City and want to go
look at it at their shop. They had to read to their selling yard yet, and I just figured that that would be the one, and so get back to their dealer yard and start on paperwork and they let me take it. About a week later, they let me take it, you know, just to kind of like get a feel of it the driving. And I had already start having problems, certain problems at the time that they let
me keep it. The test routed and but you still went through with the sale, right, yes, and so but why why did you do that if you were having questions? Mm hmm, Because I knew that there were I was going to be facing repairs getting into the as an owner operator, and I didn't mind taking the repairs on it. But eventually it was repair after repair every how. Wait wait, wait, did this come as is or did you get a warranty? So there were it was both. It
was as is and there was a war. Well there, it's not both. So what do you mean by that? Well, when I first thought it, there was as is, and I didn't want to sign it, but I told the seller that I can't sign this because it's as is and it's going to avoid my warranty. And he was like, no, it's not, so I signed it. But John John, hold on a second, A twenty eleven freight liner doesn't have a warranty. I don't know of any warranties that go fourteen years? Do you no? Then? What did
you mean it was gonna? Oh, I'm sorry you bought it three years ago. I'm sorry, But was it under warranty factory warranty at the time you bought it? I doubt it was it factory warranty though there was a Misserve dealership warranty. Well, there is no dealership warranty unless they include a warranty. So you either buy it as is or you buy it with a warranty. So I'm confused. It's not that we don't want to help you, but I need to have accurate information or I can't help you. Did
you buy it as is? The answer is yes, right, yes. How many miles were on it at the time about four hundred and seventy or seven thousand, that's pretty hefty even what did it have a Cummins or Detroit? What did it have de choite and it's a series sixty uh D thirteen. What's that dB thirteen de choite? Okay, so that's an oil bucket. Basically, all right, hold on a second, let's let's figure this out. Three oh three seven one three a two five five Go with a

Remax Alliance three oh three nine two zero sixteen twenty two. Hi Tom Martino, your troubleshooter three oh three seven to one three talks seven one three eight two five five. So John on these on these trucks. You know, I know people think those mileage is outrageous, but you know a lot of times, you know half a million miles. People will buy a used truck with a half a million miles and get another three hundred out of it before
major repairs. If everything was done perfectly to that truck. But even though the engine might go that far, you still have problems with mounts and transmissions and ball joints and front ends and but they're all pretty party and able to go right out of the factory. Probably they can all go five hundred thou but that's when you start having to replace things. Now, did you get an independent checkout of this truck BEF before you bought it? Independent checkout?
Like did you take it somewhere to be checked like Stuart and Stevenson or Interstate or somewhere where you know where they could check it out? Yeah, yes I did, And I'm not talking about where you bought it. I'm talking about an independent shop before you bought it. You took it there right right?
Where did you take it to be checked out? Oh, there's a place called uh your own west or to choke through the self freightliner parts And they have a garage and they took it in and went through it for you. Yes, yeah, they're at viewership. Well that's cool. That's not where you bought it, right, No, that's not where I bought it. But okay, what did they charge you for that pre buy inspection? Uh? Five hundred bucks? Wow? So did they find any problem?
I'm glad you did that, John. Did they find any problems? Yes? They did. They mentioned to me that there was a problem with the fuel system, and they mentioned that there was like metal metal shaving in the fuel system, and so I called it the the cardier back. We're messing to them that we got a problem here, and they pretty much told me you already bought it, you already signed for it. Wait, no, John, you just told me you had it checked out before you bought it.
Uh. Yes, actually after I bomb well that that won't count. Never mind, that won't count. So you bought it kind of as is. That still doesn't mean I want to make this clear, John, let's get right to it. Okay. Yeah, even though you buy something as is, that doesn't mean someone can lie to you or cheat you. Okay, because they can't. But here's the problem. I don't know where we're going with this. But if you think you were defrauded or cheated, is
that the case or do you feel you just don't like the truck? After three years? How many miles did you put on it. So I now it has like seven hundred and eighty miles? Did you you put two hundred thous on it? Yeah, and then the motor finally went out let too much of it? Well, hold on a second. So you had four hundred and ninety five and you put three hundred thousand on it about from your math, and you went nearly a million miles? And so what what is
the about today? So off and on. I've been putting adding parts to it and had it and shot quite a bit a few times until like two months ago the mother went out. So yeah, but what is wrong with that? I mean? And I don't I'm not being a smart ass here,
John, I'm really trying to discuss this. If you buy a truck with that almost a half a million miles and you put over two hundred nearly three hundred thousand miles on it, you're gonna have maintenance issues and eventually have to replace the engine, right, right, right, So the truck was forty thousand. That took already over forty thousand into it. Wait, you bought that for forty grand, yes, and you put forty into it? Is that including the new engine? No, the engine has just happened a
couple of months ago. So what's that gonna cost you? Probably about another two thousand? Okay, So the forty that you put into it, was it anything that the dealer lied to you about? No? So it was normal wear and tear. Yeah, I thinking around that park. But let me ask you some to John, If you've talked to other truckers I'm sure and other people do you, isn't this normal? What happened to you? Isn't it normal? In other words, I'm not blaming you, I'm not
blaming the dealer, but it's just normal. I mean, you put miles on things, and you have maintenance on things. Or is there something else you're not telling me? See, I know you're upset about it, but why because I've ended up putting more than what I've paid for it in repairs? Okay, but that's what I'm getting at though. Those repairs were they abnormal for another truck that would have five hundred thousand miles on it? Probably soon? In other words, yeah, did the dealer? Did the dealer
do you wrong? You know? Yeah? Yeah? How by telling me something that wasn't going it? Oh? Wor's forty thousand? Well? Who says it wasn't worth forty thousand. By all, there were seats that I have to show the repairs of. No. See, we're in a circle. Now, we're in a circle. Hold on, John, What you put into something isn't indicative of what it's worth. What you put into something is indicative of how it was worn out, what it was worth at the
time. Why did you pay forty thousand for it if it wasn't worth forty thousand. Well, it was the first truck that I have bought, so okay, So you didn't do a lot of research on it before you bought it. Yeah, I did a little research what kind of brand it is and how far it is going to get me. But I mean you already don't know what you get until you know you test. You know. Let me ask you this. When you talk to other truckers, do they say, hey, man, you should really be upset and that they did you
wrong. I mean, what do they tell you? No? Actually, I know how the drivers you all though, because and bent through plums like this. But like I said, since day one, I've been experiencing just throw money out to make this repair. No, I get it. Listen, I don't doubt it. I just don't think there's anything you can I'm gonna be honest with you here, John, So you're not wasting time. I don't. I don't see anything you can do about it. That's the
luck of the draw. Whoever had this truck maybe did not maintain it as well as they should have. But but I mean, it's not unusual. It's not unusual. That's all I can say. And if it's any consolation to you, I look these up. Okay, if you put an engine in that right now, can you upgrade that, by the way, or are you talking about just a straight rebuild, straight rebuild? Okay, if you put if you rebuild that engine, you're gonna be good to go for
a long time. What kind of trun do you have an Alison transmission? Manuel? Yes? Yes? Is it Alison? Yes? That transmission? Is it giving you any trouble? No? You know, it might be worth putting the money into that truck rather than trying to sell it and get another one. It might be worth it, especially if it's making you money. I got to take this break hold on go with a sure thing Denver's best roofer Excel roofing dot Com. You don't pay a cent until you're content.

Tom Martino here. Three oh three seven one three talk three oh three seven one three eight two five five. Let's talk and solve problems, answer questions, take complaints, and make your life just a little a little easier. This how I brought to you by eight eight eight heating dot com. If you want to get a twenty eight dollars service of your water heater, it's twenty eight bucks and they will and if it's flushable, they'll flush it and
take care of a water heater for twenty eight bucks. If it needs any repairs, they credit you twenty eight They do that with anything. If you want to get your toilet service, twenty eight bucks, any one item, twenty eight bucks. They find the problem, they service the item, and they credit you the twenty eight bucks. That's eight eight eight heating dot Com. Let's talk to you now about your problems. Max. You have a question on movers, and I'm so happy you're calling before the move, not
after the move. But it depends there's moving is a problem. The main problem, however, is when you're moving interstate, not in trust state, although interra state local moves are still a problem, but the main problem comes with national moves. What are you going to be moving where? I mean I'm gonna be I'm going to be moving to California, Sokay? All right, Now I'm going to give you a recommendation and then it's going to take
away most of your problems. But I'm going to give you general rules for those listening. First rule Tommy's you should get a psychiatrist if he's moving to California. Okay, Max, listen, listen, man, here's the here's the bottom line. All right. First, analyze, and I mean this, analyze what you're moving. If you're moving old couches and chairs and a
bunch of old crap, it's almost never worth moving. It's better to get rid of it and buy I'm serious when I tell you this, By the way, it's better not to and just to your keepsakes, your memorabilia and the stuff you really love, and pack that up and either ship it or just take it with you in a motor vehicle of some kind or rent one. Now again, if your hell bent on moving, which is fine, but I'm telling you this. If I was going cross country, I wouldn't
take anything. I would sell it all. But in any case, let's talk about moving first and foremost. I'm just gonna say this, never ever, ever use any movers out of Florida. Okay, check that off. Number one. Number two. Number two, Never go to the internet and just pick someone because ninety eight percent of the time, they're not movers. In fact, if you go to my YouTube, I have a brand new video up there outlining this whole thing. The first because here's the scam and
variations of it, I'm going to give it to you really quickly. The first person you call, no matter what price, they're going to give you a good price. They're going to talk to you into giving them a deposit and you'll never see or hear from that person. Again. That's that's broker number one, who's no. One, but that's the one that most people get when they go to the internet. That person now sells the contract to
someone else. That's someone else's job is they paid a few hundred bucks for that contracts plus that mover talked you into a deposit, so now they're out of your life. The second person now enters and they come to your house to pick up your stuff. When you're desperate to leave and you're thinking, okay, they're going to be here, going to be here, they show up and say, oh, we can't do it for that price, and they increase it and if you don't pay it, they don't pick your stuff
up. So you're desperate and you pay it. Happens every time. That person ninety percent of the time will not be the one to deliver your stuff. They're going to sell you the move to someone else who's going to move it and deliver it. And when they get there, they're going to tell you they waited and it was way more than they were told and you're going to have to pay again for them to unload it. And if you don't, they're going to hold your stuff hostage, and then the nightmare begins.
So what you really want is a true mover who owns trucks. Okay, if they don't own and operate trucks, you do not want them. I don't care who they are. Now, they can lease those trucks, but it has to be their trucks, and they have to have a brick and mortar location. If they do not, that's just don't use them. And then you only want to deal with established national movers. Now, I don't mean names that say we're established national mover. I mean established national movers okay,
USA movers. Okay, I mean like just established, And what do I mean by that. We've heard of Beacons, we heard of Lafayette, we heard a North American we've heard of Grabel. These are established, Okay, they're not just coming up. Now. You're gonna get a lot of them with similar names. Okay, but you do not want that. You want not someone who said that they are, Like like they come up with a name like Lafayette Storage and Moving, it's not Lafayette or Beacon. There
was one that played off the name Beacon or Mayflower. You want to make sure they are actually one of these major movers. And then you want to use one of their reliable agents, someone who's been an agent with them for years, and someone who owns trucks. That's it. Okay, that's it. And then you want I want to get from that mover. I don't care if they say, well, that's going to be more expensive no matter what they tell you. You want what is called a guaranteed not to exceed
contract. Okay, if you do these things, you'll be fine. Now, if you're here in Colorado, you should just use American Moving. Yeah. I was just gonna say, if you're here, go to referral liss dot com and use American Moving. And they're an agent for who mark beacons beacons. So there you go. We already did your homework, I got, I got a question for you. Go ahead. My situation is that
I am leaving my home. I'm doing what you shaid. I'm getting rid of most, if not all, of my furniture and most of my goods are in boxes, and it's going to be a lot of boxes because I'm a professional and I have to take a lot of records with me. So the situation is sound like, Biden, how many how many boxes? And how much will those boxes fill up a whole semi or is it just can you rent a van or tell me how big? Well, how much volume
about? I would say about at most thirty boxes. No, that's you know, And I don't have anybody to drive a rental truck across country, And that's too bad. That's too bad because that would be one of your best options in the world is to get a U haul or some or a rider truck and either do it yourself or get someone else. That's really your best option for what you want, that's your best option. I would never trust just boxes with records with a regular mover. Okay, well, well
it's not just records. I mean it's some personal goods too. No, I get it. Maybe then then call American. Just call them. But you want to guaranteed not to exceed contract? Question will will now can or a company like that take on a small amount like that? That's that you'd have to ask them. They have to what they have to do when you're not filling up trucks. They have to do what's called coordinated moves. That
involves coordinating you with other people going in the same general directions. So and then they put you on the truck accordingly. But yeah, they can do they they can do it. The bigger the mover, the more chance of them doing it. When you say a guaranteed contract not to exceed? Are you talking money or pounds? Money? Okay? Understood? Yep, and you should be okay if you have that many boxes, what furniture are you taking? If any? None that I can really think of right now,
I'm going to go to state sale. Well then it does boil down to boxes, right, yes, sir? And are you going to pack all those I have? We put them in boxes, but I could have the movers pack them. I'd rather do that. It's safer, I think, to have movers do it. Yes. Sometimes. And by the way, if you don't buy insurance. The most you're going to be covered for is
sixty cents a pound. Okay. And if your records are really really important, like legal or medical or financial, yes, then then I wouldn't do it with a regular mover without a bonded carrier, especially with legal and financial and I mean financial, like like if you're if you're a registered investment advisor, and you're required to keep those records for five years, don't don't use it with a regular mover. You said you're a professional. What kind of
professional records are we talking about? Medical? Hey? Doc? What would you do if you had to move medical records? Can't? Are you? Are you? Why are you taking them with you? Why don't you leave them with a depository? I'm curious because some of the work that I did is sensitive or was for the government, and I may be called to testify and things like that. Okay, I have to have them close at hand. Interesting, Hey doc, Yeah, a medical record. When you closed
your office, did you sell your practice or close it? I closed it? What did you do with medical records? I was in an unusual position. You have to keep medical records for seven years, except if you're an obstetrician. You have to keep birth records for twenty for eighteen years, So technically somebody who was born and had a problem could sue me up until they're eighteen years of age. So how did you do it? I? Well, I was I never moved. I always kept them in my home.
Really Yeah, in the basement or in the garage next to your corvette. Yeah, right next to my super route. Wow, Okay, can he scan them? Can he? Can he just scan all these documents and have them digitally? Are you allowed to scan those records? Yeah? But you know what it's like to scan a couple of hundred up records every single page. Well, I'm sure there are services out there that would do that. I don't know, it would be, it would be Why would it be
worth it if you're never gonna need them because you don't know? Well you might, but I mean you're talking about thousands and thousands of dollars when you can storre them for next to nothing. I would rather scan them when I need them. Yeah, I'm with you. I would get a storage storage facility in storm. What did you do research? Max? No? Would you have to kill us if you told us what you did probably okay, well, probably part of the Philadelphia project, it would It was a lot
of his court testimony. Ori AENTI okay, court Testmary. Yeah, like I said, you know, you be your own judge on that. I mean, most movers, if they're reputable, are going to take care of stuff. They're not just going to lose it. But if you're personally responsible for stuff and it has to do with liability, I would never ever just do it like that. Ever, if I had to hire someone personally, and I'm sure you can find somebody to drive a truck, I would rent
a truck and hire someone. That's what I would do. But in any case, I have a question. Is American Movers that you recommended a bonded company? Yes, okay, well hold on, they're insured. Bonding is a different story. I don't know. I can't say for sure, but they're licensed and insured. But remember that insurance is for negligence, and that insurance is for the minimal insurance for an interstate carrier. It's not for you, okay. It's only if they do something crazy and something or accidents and
stuff like that. Okay, But the maximum coverage, the maximum coverage to you still remains sixty cents a pound, right unless I buy extra? Right, that's right. But I'm going to warn you of something. You can't establish the value of a record. It's going to be the cost of paper. If you have to go beyond that for artwork and for documents and there's some kind of derivative value or intrinsic value, you're going to have to do
bonded carriers. So if anybody besides American movers that you reckon, I mean bonded carriers, I don't know of any. No, but they exist, but you're going to pay for it. Hey, mag do do the records have to be with you in California? You no Federal Express? I'll bet you Federal Express and Perk? What is the other one? Yeah? They they have. Well, I believe that you can get them to do bonded car carriage. It's the minimal amount of furniture that I want to take.
It is truly minimal. Do you have anybody besides American movers to take that? Well, I don't actually mark who. We used to have others on the referral list. I'm not not that it went out of state. Oh okay, yeah, you're right, you're right, No, we don't, but that doesn't mean they don't exist. I mean there are a lot of good people out there if you wanted Johnson and Johnson where the little Teddy Bear is? Yeah, Johnson and Johnson have been around for one hundred and twenty
five years. But they're not going to be any different. And I mean that they're not going to be different than American, you know. I mean, they're just they're just other dependable movers. But I I'm not sure are you asking for others as in for sensitive materials? No, I'm just just general if okay, if you want to get another bid, you can go to American on referral list dot com and then go to Johnson and Johnson. You will never go wrong there. They used to be on the referral list
years ago. But I know, Mark Johnson, they've been around for many, many years. Okay, yep, very much for the hell. Sure, let us know how it goes. Thank you. Are you a doctor by the way, Yes? Yes? Okay, cool? Thank you for calling three O three seven one three A two five five go with a sure

Remax Alliance three oh three nine two zero sixteen twenty two. Hi Tom Martino, your troubleshooter three O three seven one three talk seven one three eight two five five. Let's keep going here. Bruce, what's going on with you? Bruce? All right? Tim me, what's happening. I'm on Social Security using Medicare. I went to a dentist to talk him about getting ventures and you're on Medicare. Yeah, Medicare advantage. Yeah, I'm sorry,
Medicare avanges. Okay, does that cover dentures because regular Medicare will not. I think the limit was with fifteen dollars for them, if I'm not mistaken, And that's pretty much what it covers. I mean the whole price. You can get dentures for fifteen hundred dollars. Yeah. Now wait a minute, Wait a minute, Bruce, have you ever had dentures before? Me? Bruce? Have you had dentures before a long time ago, but just partials? And that was when I was a teenager. I'm seven. Okay,
now I guess what I here's what I'm getting at. In order to do dentures, you have to attach them to things. Do you have anchors in your mouth? I had those partemporaries. They were metal, but now the lowers are plastic or whatever material that is. But there you have permanent implants in your jaws right now? No? No, no, no, no, not implants. I'm not no, listen, I'm not talking about implants as in teeth. I'm asking if you have anchors implanted in your bones
to hold dentures? No, okay, kind of anchor? Okay. So in order to do dentures, in order to do dentures, are they proposing extracting your teeth and then doing the old fix it and kind of dentures that suck up onto your gums uppers. Yes, they're all gone, All the teeth is gone. But I have ventures. Yeah, but do those ventures? You just put it like a grip on there and put them in.
Is that how they work. I don't use a grip. They get up in there and they hold on good, good, But they hold on without anchors, right yeah, Okay, so the upper ones you don't have to have replaced. No, the uppers had been replaced. But yeah, you just need to do lowers. Well, I already had all the uppers pulled, and I had the ventures temporary for six months, and then I had permanent put in. Then I had the lowers. I had a couple of teeth pulled, and so I got a few teeth left. But get the
lowers that are supposed to pick up to those teeth. And you got an estimate already, you got an actual estimate looking at your mouth, and they that it will be fifteen hundred dollars. No, it's already paid for by medicare. Okay, So in other words, they're willing to accept that for full payment. Uh. Well, the concern isn't the cost, right now, Okay, tell us tell me what. I was just curious, because
here's why. Let me just cut to the chase while I'm saying this, Because a lot of people think they're getting something for a certain price, and they don't. Okay, But but but but go ahead, then tell me what your problem is. The problem is I've been bothered about some procedure going forward the last year or so. Okay, has this been on Medicare again, You've been going to see a dentist with your Medicare plan. I don't have a problem with the Manicare plan right now. You're they came the final
problem at this point. Go ahead. It's I was in their last last uh well, that's how long ago, and they pulled another tooth, and having done that, they had to alter the permanent denter for the lower and when they did that, they had to fill in a tooth that make a tooth on the denture, and they did that, they put it on the wrong side of the denture and so it doesn't even go into my mouth now, and it's just I don't I don't understand how they could possibly have made
that mistake. They took impression and they replaced. So now let me ask you something, Bruce. Are they willing, Bruce? Are they willing to fix it? I haven't talked to them because I said that turn they have been so the people in the office are fine, but the way they handle is it just drives me crazy. It's just one like, give me an idea here. Look, I understand they made a mistake. And the reason, by the way, there was a reason, just so you know.
I was asking about the Medicare benefit because and the reason was, if this is truly not being done correctly, they can withhold, they can withdraw. They can also clawback payment and repay someone else to do it. But I won't get into that right now. What I want to get into is this. You've been going to this dentist for a year. You don't like the way they do business. Why are you continuing? Because it's Medicare and I don't know what's being done. Okay, so you see, we go back
to Medicare again. You said I have no problem with Medicare, and really this could be a Medicare thing? Did is this the for some reason you got the impression this is the only place you can go to for your Medicare because I thought it was going to be cheap and fifteen hundred dollars would cover it and we'd be done with happy cheese. But no, okay, and that's where okay again, this is why I asked about the price. See everything I asked for up to this point was for a reason. The pricing
because I know you won't get it done for fifteen hundred anywhere. And number two, the the benefit because if it's not being done right, they will withhold or withdraw payment and go somewhere else. But you're gonna have to pay the difference sometimes. Now what I want to know is have you looked for another provider? H No, I haven't. Okay, So you're calling because you're pissed at this provider. So were you hoping we would get on their
case or that you would find another provider? What is your what is your desire? I went I went to your analysis of the situation because it's just crazy how how many different problems you have been along the way and get this, Well it tells me then you shouldn't go to them. My analysis is, if you have nothing but trouble with a dental place, why keep going
there? I got to take this break hold on, Bruce. I'm not trying to give you a hard time, bro, but you're you're calling and you don't like this place yet I'm asking you why you keep going and you say because they're cheap? Okay, Well, see I don't know what to do with that. Hold on, we'll come right back. Go with a sure thing Denver's best roofer Excel Roofing dot com. You don't pay a cent

know here? Sorry? Three oh three seven one three talk three oh three seven one three eight two five five back to the phone's okay now, Bruce, I looked up. Okay, here's the deal, Bruce, and I know what you're trying to do. You're trying to go cheap so you don't have any out of pocket. I get it, I really do get it. And and unfortunately those dentures should cost just for what you're having done about about cheapest twenty eight hundred dollars so you're trying to get them done for fifteen
hundred, and I understand you're frustrated. What do you want us to do? Because I would like to help you, but I was I was wrong in trying to recommend you find someone else. No one, No one will do it for fifteen hundred dollars, so you might have to tough it out at this place to get them done. Tom. I'm want to say, first of all, I've ristened to you, but I with the too much evident time that listens in the eighties, So thank you, pretty familiar with
it, and I got a lot of respect for you. It's not that I'm calling you to get this cheaper. I was told this is how much it is going to cost me, and I made sure it was four uppers and lowers, and I was shocked it was a price. I was going to argue with it. Wait wait, wait, you're telling me the fifteen hundred was for both uppers and lowers. Yes, sure, well, Bruce, I'm gonna tell you that's a that's an absolute lie. Okay, I'm
sorry. No one can do dentures upper and lower for fifteen hundred dollars, not unless you're getting George Washington wooden teeth and they're carving right there because I haven't. But see, well, here's what's crazy, Bruce. But here's what's crazy. And I really do appreciate your a longtime listener, but let's just get some truth here right between the eyes. For you to expect better for fifteen hundred is almost as funny as the ridiculousness they're putting you through to
even expect them. But here, I know what Bruce is saying. Tom, that's not my fault. If they told me they couldn't have done it, okay, but they told me they could do it. So I want Deputy Doc to call. Now they're not going to give us information on you because of HIPPA, but you can sign a Hippo release if they if we
need you to. But the bottom line here is this. You can tell them they can talk to us, but I want Doc to just talk to them in general and say, we heard that you're offering full upper and lower dentures for fifteen hundred dollars. How is that possible? Just to verify that, because I do not know how anyone that would be seven hundred and fifty dollars for uppers and seven hundred and fifty dollars. Am I doing the math? Right? Am I right? You don't know? Well whatever seven of
them? Well, what's that? I don't know how much Medicare is reimbursing them? He said he has Medicare that's covering. No, that is all of it, doc concluding Medicare. That's all there is is no copay. Wow, they're telling him for his fifteen hundred dollars Medicare allowance they will provide him uppers and lowers. And I am saying that is patently impossible. I agree, Tom. I thought I thought, you know, just the extractions alone will be that. Bruce, I don't know how the hell you do
you have a contract that says this that we can see. I have to dig it up. But I don't think I have a contract. I think it was done mostly through Medicare, and Medicare agreed to the situation. So no, no, Bruce, nothing is done. No, Bruce, Bruce, it doesn't work that way. Here's the way it works. Okay, Bruce, did Medicare give you this dental place? No? I can't remember how I heard him. Oh, oh, goad, I say, rufferbing Jim. You know they're a nationwide organization. Okay, listen, all I'm
saying is this, I'm gonna have Deputy Doc call. I don't know where you heard. And Medicare doesn't do your contract. Okay, so if you you have to have a proposal somewhere that says they were going to do it for fifteen hundred, otherwise they can just tell us no, we don't do it for fifteen hundred at all? Do you take? I want to know do they take? Do they take Medicare's full and final payment the fifteen hundred for both upper and lower Look at Bruce, I think there's a there's something
we are not hearing. Doc. Would you talk to him off the air or talk to asmen and it's asspendental. I don't care. They're not doing anything wrong. I don't think. I mean, I mean, all I'm saying is this, I don't see how they can are they advertised? Did you see it advertised somewhere? Bruce? Okay, good, Kelly's talking to him. We got more coming up. Go with a sure thing Denver's best roofer excel roofing dot com. You don't pay a cent until you're content.

Martina here three three seven one three talks. Stan has a question about air duck cleaning, something I knowver a lot about because of the good companies we've had to do it over the years. Go ahead, what's going on? Stan? Heym? Do you think it's worth really having your ear ducts cleaned? I think it absolutely is. When you say worth it, now, let me explain something it It does help the efficiency of your system a little,
but it also improves the quality of your air a lot. And what I once, Once it's cleaned, it has a tendency not to accumulate like it does from a new house, a new build or an old house that's been around a while. So I would say, if you've never had it done, you should have it done. And then you probably don't have to have it done, but every five years or so. Okay, that sounds sounds okay to me. you don't have come running. Just as as as we can. Shooter's gonna help come Man Dix is the Troubleshooter Show. Now, Tom Martino, Hey, Tom Martino here, welcome to the show. Three oh three seven one three talk three oh three three eight two five five. Here to help you solve problems, answer question, make your life a little easier. That's what I do every day. We've been doing nearly fifty years, forty five in Denver. Let's talk what's happening almost forty five years in Denver? Right on
the cusp here. Hey, let's talk to Michael. Uh, and then we have Deputy Bow on board. Deputy Bow I think worked on this so uh, the original problem. I'm trying to remember this, Michael. So I'm gonna find it here and tell me what's going on? Now, what's happening? Or Bo, do you want to chime in? Tell us what's going on? Yes, the club that Michael was going to, it's called Prestige Fitness. He was going to. He lives in Arvada. He was
going to get the Arvada store and they closed that particular club. So okay, and so Michael wanted to get a refund of the of the amount, So what did they tell him? Whatn't that to me? That sounds reasonable? Right? How much had he paid for this? He was owed one hundred and seventy three dollars and some odd cents. So it happened. So they offered, I believe, at first, to give him a partial membership at a YMCA. But if I remember, oh I remember, I remember
that. Yeah, And the bottom line is that did not work out. So this Prestige Fitness offered to give Michael a to extend the membership there, or the balance of the membership to the to their Aurora store. But the Aurora store is just way too far. So Michael just wanted to get a refund of what he paid for the membership. So I called the manager at the South store and basically said they they may be able to give him a guest pass, but they would not give him a refund. So well,
I don't know. They said, of course, it's not in our preview to do that. And then during this time, Tom, the Prestige Fitness changed their name. They've just rebranded themselves to Zone Athletic Club. And you're sure they weren't sold or anything. I double checked it. I called their billing system and they were not sold. It's still so where does it stand now, Michael, how do you feel about all of this? Well, first, I just wanted to clarify something. Originally, they never offered me
any membership or anything. What happened was when they closed the Arvada store. They are Vada Gym. They let us train over at the YMCA for three months with the understanding that they were going to be opening up a new club. And after our memberships at the y you know, went away through Prestige. At the end of February, they didn't have a new club for us to go to. So I just wanted my money back, and then,
you know, I called numerous people. They told me originally at the gym to call their billing company Peak, which I did, and most ladies were extremely helpful trying to give me my money back, and they agreed that they owed me one hundred and seventy six thirty three. The lady there that I was talking to was going on vacation told me to call back in a week, so I did, and she said that in the meantime, Prestige had contacted them and closed out all the accounts and told them not to issue any
more refunds, that we'd have to go through the club. So then I called the clubs, talked to managers and base. We got the run around from all of them where they wouldn't return my phone calls, told me to send emails, which I did, and they agreed that they had it in their system originally for the refund too, and one of the guys said he was going to get me a check. I called back a week later that guy no longer worked at that club and had me taught to him. God
wouldn't help me. It's just been a mess, and Deputy Bo's gone through the same thing. I have contacting people, sending emails and they say they're going to return your phone calls or emails, and they never do. You know what, I think? I truly believe that you would win in small claims court because unless unless the club they have other prestige or now zones close
to you or that not too far away, do they No? The one I was talking to was in our bad They have one way out in Aurora, one down by Centennial, another one in Colrad Springs and another one out in Fort Collins. And I've been told, and I don't know for sure that you know they're in breach of contract anyway, because their their own contract says basically that if there's not a club available within twenty five miles, that you know they're That's what I'm asking. Are you telling me all of your
options are more than twenty five miles away? Yes, yes, sir. And and the other thing is too k bo. Hold on, Deputy Bow, did you bring that out to them, that his options are twenty five miles away? Absolutely? Tom. And then the manager at this house store gave me the name of the operations manager of the whole organization, and they stuck to their guns. They said that he should go twenty five miles away. Yes, And I tried to contact a person by the name of Brad
Baker. He's the operations manager that the individual club managers. I even called the club in Fort Collins if they refused to give me the operations manager's phone number, and I said, well, if he's the they suck. Okay, that did this sucks. This is not a good organization. Otherwise they would have taken care of it. Listen, man, I think you need. I really mean this. You need to go to small claims court and sue their asses and then we'll we'll follow you ever every step of the way
here. Stay in contact with Michael and Jerry is the one. The reason I couldn't find your call at first. Jerry is the one that called in for you, right, yes, yes, my wife had called in originally. The other thing I wanted to say to the side note was that on social media and also on like the if you were to do on Reddit, on the you know reviews, the prestige. This is a habit and a pattern that they've been. There's several people that have come out of and wouldwork
to talk to me, former employees, trainers. Oh, I don't doubt it. I don't doubt it. Listen, I don't doubt it at all. And and I think what you need to do is truly take in the small claims court if you need help, you know Mark and weigh in on that. Uh, you find the registered agent and you go from there and again Bo can probably help you as well. Three oh three seven one three talks seven one three eight two five five people beware of this place. I
guess it's now called zone, but that sucks. Earlier in the show. Hi Tom Martino, you are a troubleshooter three oh three seven one three talk seven one three eight two five five Lourie, what's going on with Infinity? Yeah, so we ran a beef test on our internet.
Supposedly we're paying for download speeds of one thousand megabets per second, and the speed episode that our download speed at fifteen and our upload is thirty three. Wait a minute, you only have fifteen fifteen megabytes download one five fifteen. How do you even surf with that? Well? I don't know. I just know we went on speed test dot net. I just ran it like
ten seconds ago and showing download at fifteen upload at thirty three. We're paying for one thousand, at least a thousand legs at least and I think They actually bumped us to the twelve hundred plan because our bill went up twenty five bucks, and I've been trying to call them to find out what's going on. Hey, Mark, Mark, you've dealt with these guys before. I think on who do you have Exfinity? Right? Mark? Have you didn't
we deal with them on similar issues. You should check what your Exfinity speed test is instead of speed test dot Com. Don't although say you're you get up to said amount of speed, so it doesn't guarantee you that speed guarantees you up. You should be able to get it. You should be able to get it sometime. I don't think we've ever gotten anything close to that. I mean we ran the Exfinity test. My husband didn't believe it because
it was under twenty Have you plugged directly into their modem? Yeah? But what good is that? Mark? I mean, if you have to do that to get a well, that's the only way to tell. I don't know what kind of Routerine she might have had a router built in the thirties. Yes, oh yeah, it could now I never thought of that. Good point, Mark, So LORII it could be thwarted by things outside of that, Well, we didn't test it. It so the modem blocks to
them. We were equipment from them and we just installed a brand new high speed Wi Fi. Yeah, but what were you testing? Hold on, Laurie. Were you testing your WiFi? Your wireless internet? Yeah? And okay, so help me here did it go from? Did it go from the modem from Comcast or Infinity? And then do you plug into that with your WiFi? No, here's what I'm asking You said you bought a new Wi Fi something. Do you have your own Wi Fi distributor? Yeah?
Okay, that Wi Fi distributor that you have, Uh huh? What brand is it it is? And does it plug into your modem? Or is it also wireless like a like a relay? It's called Ubiquity. But does it plug into your Infinity modem? Or does it? Does it make a leapfrog? Okay, it plugs in? No, it plugs in. Why did you do it that way? Why did you plug in? Did you do your speed test directly at that modem? No? I did it on
my laptop. Okay, No, here's what I mean. If you plug your laptop directly into one of the net ports at the modem, did you do a speed test. No, I couldn't plug it in because I have an Apple. Yeah, well, there's an adapter, and I don't want to hear any jokes from Mark. There's an adapter Bill Gates making it No. No, what kind of no? Seriously, what kind of Mac? Do you have a MacBook Pro? Okay? I have a MacBook Pro.
So do you have the USB C only on there the USBC sports Yeah, okay, there's an adapter that goes from USCP from USB C to a regular CAT five. Okay, then you can do your Cat five into your modem. The reason I'm telling you this, here's the reason I'm telling you this. You can call us back there. That's the only speed test that will count. If you're testing your wireless. As Mark brought up before, it
is dependent on many other factors. That is not what and Exfinity can't be responsible for him, like incompatibility between your Wi Fi and the modem, or interference in your Wi Fi or any number of things, even your Wi Fi router in your laptop and how it interacts with that other wireless. Because I had to do I had to figure that out the hard way during COVID when
we were depending on all of the own on home stuff. I had a lot of stuff that was not perfectly compatible, and I started experimenting, and I found the optimum equipment to use in order to get the best speeds. And then if you're going to do your own WiFi router and it plugs into Exfinity, what you really need to do and it gets too complicated to explain on the show, but it's called a pass through mode on that Exfinity one because what that does is that does not send out signal to both its own
WiFi and your WiFi. Really, it gets very technical, I'm telling you. I mean people set up their own networks and I think half of the time they are the reason they're not getting top speed. But I just just do that speed. Get the adapter, it's not that much. Get at best buyer anywhere and plug a CAT five into right in to where your WiFi is, plug it into your computer, and do your test right there and
let us know. I'll mark this down. I'll remember the call. I really want to know what you're getting, So mark the Ubiquity is in the bridge mode. Now not pastors in bridge, Well, no, that's in the bridge mode. But I'm talking about I'm not talking about Infinity is in the bridge mode? Is that what you mean? See, it's we had a friend configure this. The cable modem is in bridge mode, so it goes good. It's good. That's okay. That's the way it should be,
man, that's the way it should be. Yeah. So your Exfinity is going your Exfinity's Wi Fi is turned off right correct, and it's only serving its Ubiquity got it switch. Let me ask you something. Why did you go from your WiFi excuse me, from your Comcast modem directly into that? Why did you not use the Wi Fi that was built into that modem? Because it doesn't The coverage in the house was so bad. We needed something to boost the Wi Fi signals. I got you. So you guys,
you guys do know what you're talking about. It sounds like it. So then do me a favor and do that test. And we had a consultant, helper Tom and LORI has a business here, so we have some power over Ethernet security cameras that that that Ubiquity wireless switch runs all No, I get it. I get it. See, I have the I use
the Google Ness product for my house, and it's fast as hell. I mean, I want the but just do the test at the modem right at the right at the Exanity modem plugged into your laptop, and just for the hell of it, see what you get. I mean, calls back tomorrow. I would like to analyze it, and we do have some experts we can call as well. Three all three seven one, three eight two five

Hi, Tom Martine here three all three seven one three
talks seven one three eight two five five Uh supplements okay? Jay. So we had a woman call and said, hey, our bid was eighteen thousand dollars for the roof jays with Excel roofing dot com. By the way, Excel Excel roofing dot com. So he's she said, uh, but they're charging my insurance now forty three mm hm. That's incredible. She said it was supplements and they're doing work she didn't want done. And I don't even know what that means. But let's talk about supplements. How do they work?
Once I sign a contract, does that mean roofers go in and get anything they want? Sometimes that's what they try to do. So for everybody listening, supplements means that we are going to supplement the insurance claim and ask the insurance company for more money than they've originally allauded for the claim. But usually a supplemental claim is for not just because you want to raise the price. It's for additional stuff. You find additional stuff. And the best example
I know of is we tear the roof off. All of the wood underneath is bad. The decking needs to be replaced. And so we supplement for this additional cost something that we didn't know beforehand. Did they ever send adjusters out to check supplements? They do. They do most of the time. If the contractor documents everything with photographs before and after pitchers, they're going to approve it and not send the adjuster out because the adjuster just doesn't have time
to visit every job site. So, but a lot of contractors think, and especially you say, I want to get into that part. You said, it's a game. Sometimes it's total game, but it's this is very prevalent with restoration contractors. Also, what they do is it's the sky is the limit this lady. The example, eighteen thousand dollars was the initial quote and they bumped it up to forty three thousand dollars. And it just gets
unreasonable, is what it does. And we were talking about medical stuff earlier, Tom and what was it the three thousand dollars for the anesthesia shot? Oh yeah, I know. And it's that same concept that, Okay, we need additional money because additional items need to be done, and they just try to gouge the insurance companies. I say, they we we will supplement. Many times ourselfs Excel roofing, but it's for legitimate, legitimately needed items.
Listen to what we found this company doing. They had to paint one side of the house, and they were charging what Genesis said should have cost about twelve hundred bucks. They were charging fifty one hundred. Yeah, that doesn't surprise me at all. Do they do it because because they don't think the insurance will come out and check, I mean really, because then it becomes immoral? Do they just see what they can get away with? Absolutely
they do. And you know, there's an insurance program it's called exact Demate, and you should be able to plug in the square footage of that wall and get the legitimate price. But who knows what the contractor was trying to say. Maybe they were saying it's a special paint or something that had to be done. And you know what they do is they say, Okay, this is an additional trade that needs to come on to the job site. So in addition to this work, we're entitled to the overhead and profit as
well. So we're going to tack on another twenty percent to the price. And I bet you that's exactly what happened on that painting deal. Well, as long as they're doing the work, I don't have any issue with it. I mean, do you jay fifty six hundred bucks to no? No, I mean you're right. Mark is saying, would Why would he care what his insurance is paying? Right Mark? If they're doing the job. No. What I'm saying is if they build for the entire hand house to
be painted, they should paint the entire house. But I don't care what they bill for it. I mean, it is what it is. If the insurance company is willing to pay, I mean, who cares if they say it's fifty six hundred. I see it. For that market, it was one side of the house. But what Mark is saying, I understand he's saying, if the insurance company pays, and they you know, if everyone agrees, what do I care. I'm only paying my deductibles. That's
true. As long as this pricing is in agreement with the exact demate pricing, which is the agreed upon pricing with the insurance companies and contractors, and where they got this fifty That fifty six hundred dollars just sounds so expressive. Fifty two that's just way too much. Money for that, I know. So so when you bring guys, I'm just I'm just I'm literally just using
this as an example. But it's true. The room I'm sitting in right now is going to get repainted by Genesis because we had some flood damage. But you're going to say, what does that have to do with the wall. It doesn't matter. I get the paint. This paint has drywall than wax paper, then multi colored paint in the entire room. Painting this room compared to most rooms, costs ten times. I have no idea what that one wall costs that you guys are using in his example. But if the
insurance company agreed to it, who cares. I know, I know what you're saying, but I just think that in this case, going from eighteen to forty, something seemed ridiculous about the painting thing. Mark. I bet that this company build to paint the entire house and they're just going to do one wall. Well, that's okay, now, Jay, Jay, that's
an entirely different story. If they're giving the allowance to paint the entire house because they turned it in, their ass needs to paint the entire house, and that's just a phone call to your own insurance company, and I don't see what the hell they're paying for. I don't know if that's the case,
but Tom, that's what they were doing on this claim. Remember when Mark Schmanski went out there, that's right, and he said that they had build to put in three additional electric vents on top of the right and what they did is they they they reused two of them and they didn't even put the third in. So these guys are scamming. They are. Yeah, and that's right, And I would care even if I only paid my deductible, I'd still care if they were doing that, I would I would be
pissed. And entire house, well yeah, and you're not getting the new vents. And I want the new vents as long as you're getting for whatever they're billing for. And even if the insurance company only paid initially for one wall, somehow they got the entire house painted fine or paid for they did it, they should get the whole house painting, right, And that's what Mark was saying as well. I think that if you get what you pay for, he doesn't have a problem. I don't think i'd have a problem
either. But like you, said, well, well, one of the three events, I want to stick on one thing. Jay said that a lot of people don't realize if you have multiple people or multiple different companies needed. For example, let's say you need different turids. Yeah, three different
trades, whatever they are. You got windows involved, a roof involved in landscaping for that matter, Most insurance coughs up another ten percent for basically being the general contractor to whoever you sign the contract with no offense to Jay. But if I have multiple trades and they have nothing to do with what he does, Jay does roofing better than anybody. That's what That's what Excel Roofing does. I don't want Jay in charge of my windows. So therefore I
don't know why I would give any roofer. If there is different things they find that additional ten percent. You could be handing them fifteen twenty twenty five thousand dollars and they're not going to do anything. All they're going to do is hire their friend that's a painter, And I don't think that's cool. Well, you're right about that, Mark, except and we do coordinate all the time with painters. Say the deck needs to be refinished, the house
needs to be painted, maybe some windows and then also the roof. We will take those kind of jobs on sometime. And truly you're acting as the general contractor, so you should be paid some overhead and profit for that. Yeah, but my point was, I'm talking to a roofer at that point, I understand you have other trades. Well, what would you do, Mark, you admired? Are you saying you should hire directly those contractors?
I personally would go through a public adjuster, just like I did. I went through I ended up with my own ten percent, and then I hired Jay to come out and put on my hellproof roof. I hired Schamansky to come out and paint my house. I hied a landscaper to come out and replace. But not a lot of homeowners, Mark, not a lot of homeowners do that. I mean, truly they But Tom, the reason they don't. The reason they don't is they don't know, right, well,
they don't know how to coordinate it. Like that's right, Okay, that's fair, but I'm but but my real point was they don't even know about the overhead and profit. They don't even know it exists. Well, he's right about that, but Mark, Mark are you saying without a public adjuster, if I was to bring three people onto my house to to do three
different things, would I be entitled to ten percent overhead and profit. Yes, you would have to talk to your insurance company and prove to them, but yes you would get it if you were acting as your own general Okay, we got more coming up. Hi Tom Martinez here three or three seven to three Talk Jim. What's going on with you? Jim?
Hey, what's happening. It's really simple, it's not a big deal. But I was sitting in a turn lane. A guy ran a red light, bounced off of FedEx Semi hit my truck. They've agreed the liability. The insurance companies agreed the liability. They're going to give me a renal car. Should I do supplemental insurance on the car? And if I do that, do they have to pay for it? What do you mean supplemental insurance? I don't know what he buy the he's saying buy the other he's
saying, buy all the mop and glow. Oh the rental car insurance. Absolutely not. No, you don't need it. Okay. So if somebody hits me in that rental car and it goes in for the same thing that happened to me, I can just turn it in broke. Your insurance will cover you for whatever you have on your own policy. Did you get injured out of curiosity you mentioned a semi truck. No, it's no ever, Okay, it's fine. It was the guy ran a red light and it was like a ping bong ball. But no, yeah, don't don't buy
the mop and glow. And to answer the second question, straight up, they will never pay for it, period, end of story. Never pay for what part you mean, the extra stuff? The insurance the other driver's insurance company will never pay for the extra insurance coverage ever. Right, Hey, guys, who's renting the car? Is it? Is he renting it? Or is the other person's insurance company it That's not what I'm sure of. I don't the other person's insurance is renting it? Doc, he's going
to rent it. But Doc, what does that matter? What's the diff insurance? If they're the renter, he doesn't have to worry about any damage. Well, they'd never be the renter. They just pay the bill, they're not renting it. That's what I was asking Mark, Well, it doesn't matter who's paying the bill. What we're saying is they're not going to pay for extra stuff. They're gonna pay for the car. That's it. What I'm asking is is if somebody hits me in that car, then the
car's out of service for an extra week or two. You're calling. What you're wondering about is what's called loss of use? Right? Yes, okay, Now let me explain this. It's really you got to pay attention to this to help yourself. If you'll policy extends to a rental car, it often includes loss of use, but not all of them do. So, if your policy will pay for the car and the damage to the car,
but it will not pay for loss of use. I'm going to tell you that a rental company will come after you for loss of use, and if they do, there wouldn't be anything wrong with having that supplemental coverage for that part of it. Okay, it's a lost damage waiver for that one part of it for property damage. You don't need it for liability. But if that happens, they're not going to reimburse you for that. That's it.
