Yeah, ripped off. You need advice so you don't have come Runing's just as fast as we can. Shoot's gonna help coming man. This is the Troubleshooter Show. No Tom Martino, Hi, Tom Martino here, Welcome to the show. Three all three seven one three talk three all three seven one three eight two five five. What's happening in your life? What can we do for you? I asked this every day, well every weekday,

so thanks for joining me. This is the show where we try to find common ground, which is we don't want to be lied to, cheated, or ripped off. We try to stay out of the bull crap, but get into the everyday aches and pains, the things that make us tick, the things that tick us off. I think we can all agree, no one wants to get ripped off. Right now, since we last talked to this man, Paul, the water Man, I will say that, uh Paul had some uh some issues with the bottled water, but he never knew

it was as bad as he thought it was. I mean, excuse me, worse than he thought it was. We just talked about it since he's been here last Paul, real quick, we'll go over this. We'll take other calls about anything, but Paul's with waterpros dot net. Paul. They found microplastics in basically all bottled water, microplastics, nanoplastics, and all major brands of bottle water. Absolutely, so can we not have plastic containers? I mean what does that say for our foods and stuff? Like? What

tell me what does plastic leach into everything? Everything? It's also they also have the chemical that's in plastic coating and wrapping are produced and vegetables that we get at the supermarket. Uh, that that's also contaminating our food. This is that what I call an environmental it's all over everything. And so these nanoplastics are getting into plants and vegetation, you know, the animals that we eat and consume. It's in our bottle water. Microplastics showed up in every

major you know bottle excuse me water bodying in the state of Colorado. It's microplastics are in our snow. And so this is this is something really serious and in the La Times did an article back in the eighth of January, and then if you google this, you'll see other scientists are concerned that these plastics can penetrate the body at a cell of your level. Well, this is this is crazy. Three oh three seven one three talk three oh three

seven one three eight two five. Okay, this is something. If you're concerned about give us a call. But the only thing you can do is filtration. That's really all you can do. And we have people, uh well, we had people online. If you want to give us a call, the number is three oh three seven one three talk three oh three seven one three eight two five five. Mark. I understand you just got a water system. I did. We finally bit the bullet and got a softener

from Paul. Sus loves it, she said, he absolutely does. I'm starting to like it too. You know what it does that You got to get used to it, don't you. Yeah, it kind of at first I think it's kind of slimy, and I know that's what people say. It's that softness. But then you get used to it and it's great for

the skin. It's unbelievable for the skin. You need less soap. And really now I wish I wish Paul told me to run it for a little bit though, because when I first used it after at first I wasn't here when they installed it. So I got home and I turned it on and my glass of water looked foggy, and I was lolling, what the hell's this? So I called up Paul and he's like, oh, just run it for two minutes. But it's been great. I mean, I wish we did it a long time ago, it really is. Anyway, Frank

has a debt collection issue. High Frank, Hi, how are you good? What's going on? Frank? Well, I was a Thursday. Last Thursday, at seven twenty eight in the morning, I get a call ask me with some money for my debt, and I said, well, first of all, I sent them a letter asking them to explain the ridiculous accounting procedures. Okay, first and foremost, let's take it one sip at a time. The debt they're talking about. Is it something you recall? Yes?

What is it? It's it's payment for physical therapy Okay, okay, And this is self pay physical therapy or copay. It was copay with my insurance. That at least that's what I thought. And you actually actually let me put it this way. The insurance can be paid for the first six sessions. That's always been my understanding. I've had this done several times over the years, and it's never been a problem. But it actually it's turning into a long story. Well okay, but when you when you did you

take more than six sessions? In other words, you're not disputing the bill, are you? Or are you? Well, I don't know what the bill is. They've never given me a bill, and I mean, just wait, they just say you directly. They just sent you directly. Okay, collections. No, I don't Yes, I don't know. And you caught me at a wrong time. Well, Frank, you called me, So let me get it this way. When you had when you had this physical therapy, when was this physical therapy done? And during the last summer?

Okay, now, now, when you had it done, did you know there would be a bill or there would be a charge of any kind? No, how many sessions? Did you have? Six? But you thought the insurance would pay for those? Yes, okay, I got it. So you had six six pt sessions and then you never got a bill and the first you heard about it was this collection. No, I've gotten

bills, but without any nothing is on the bill that makes sense. I gotten bills just with a payment, just like just what did it say like six PT sessions and a lump sum or what that's a lump sum and alump sum et sessions? Either I have the bills? How much? Well, how much is the bill? It's two hundred and ten dollars. Then that's pretty chap. That's pretty cheap. I guess that's the code payments. But I didn't know I had cod payments and I didn't know anything about it till

the sixth session when the therapist told me I owed six sessions. And I said, well, wait a minute, I'm not I didn't know that that was That's up to you to know, Frank, that's the unfortunate park. You're responsible for it, Okay, I said, well send me the bill. Yes, I said, I would take it to my insurance company. But there's co pays. Don't go through your insurance company. That's what you pay. No, I had a copay. It doesn't matter if you knew or not. If you do have one, you owe it. That's what

I'm trying to tell you. It's easiest to just pay it. You owe the copay. And that sounds about right. Six sessions, two hundred and ten dollars. What is your resistance to paying it because I asked so bill and they sent me a bill and it's got double days on all the bills, and they don't It doesn't add up to that. Ellly adds up to one hundred and ten. Okay, So you think they overbilled you, Yes, but that's not even the problem. The problem is they called me at

seven twenty eight in the morning. Okay. Collectors end the problem. Collectors. The fair deck collection practice allows them to call during certain hours and if you tell them to no longer contact you phone if you if you make that explicit, then they will do it by mail and serve you for court. But Frank, here's what I'm going to tell you. Okay, if they are misbilling you and over billing you, you shouldn't have to pay those.

But you're definitely going to have to pay a copay for whatever ones that were accurate. How you think they overestimated what you owe by one hundred dollars. So they're claiming you had sessions when you did not. They have sessions double billing me on the same day. I get it. I get it. Is it possible that you had two different kinds of therapy that day? Because what they do is under it. Go ahead. It's always been the same thing. It's like a routine. Okay. Now, did you ask the

clinic why there were double billings on certain days? No, well don't. I stopped going after that. After when I got that last bill, okay, Frank, after time I talked to the guy there. Okay, so I stopped going. I got a new I've gotten oop places and it's been fine. Okay, got it, Frank. Now back on that old one, okay. To keep it from getting complicated. What you should? And I know you didn't like them calling. Did you tell them not to no

longer call you and to take you to court? Not at seven twenty eight in the morning. I know I was hardly awake. I'm still hardly awake. Now. Well, when they call you next time, tell them you no longer want to be contacted by phone. But it's it's like I looked it up and they're not supposed to call until eight o'clock at the at the best, okay, at the earliest. Frank. All I'm saying is you

can tell them not to call you at all. The fact that they called you at seven twenty and not eight o'clock I'm going to give you some truth right now. No one cares and no one will do anything about it. That's just life, Okay, no one will. So you're wasting your time because they killed early. Now I think it sucks. Yes, I do. Collectors break the law all the time unless it's egregious and it keeps happening. What I would do if ira you is simply tell them to no longer

call you to deal with it in the courts. That's it. You're that's your right now. As far as the double billing, I would call the billing department at the physical therapy place and I would tell them to look at the double billing dates and adjust them and you'll gladly pay it. Hi Tom Martino here three oh three seven one three talk three oh three seven one three eight two five five. I want to mention something about health insurance. We are responsible to know what we're responsible for. It's that simple. There is no ignorance of our plan nor the provider not

telling you. Pre authorizations are different. If you can prove you got a pre off and they didn't stick by it, that's a breach. But I'm going to tell you something else. If you have a problem with the provider and it's billing, then you have to talk to them before it goes to collection. And if it goes to collection and you still have a problem, offer to pay at least some of it. Michael has a comment on plastics.

Go ahead, Michael, what is your comment? Yeah? Hi, First of all, I'm not associated with a company I'm going to talk about at all. I have a friend that does consulting with them on the investment side. But they're called RWDC Industries and they're US based, and they are they're coming out with products. I just don't know if they're doing plastic bodels, but cavalry things like that for the food service industry, fabric or well, what does rw DC do that I should have said that first. I

apologize. They are making a fully biodegradable product that will replace single use plastic and it's quite incredible from everything I've read about them, and they put out a little three and a half minute video that was really the reason I was calling was to get that to you, and I just didn't want to waste your time when I don't have much more knowledge than that. Okay, now,

how did you find out about it? Well, my friend that does the consulting work with them on the investment side has kept me abreast of materials that they put out as far as marketing not marketing materials, and then came out within the last couple of weeks that again, I'm fascinated by it as a non technical person, but someone that wants to see something like this come

out that we'll get rid of all this plastic. It's called Solon s O L Yes, Solon Solon supposedly s O L O N is the trademarked environmentally safe product. They say, and is it is? It's It's in Georgia, right, I'm looking it up. It's in Georgia. Yeah, they're outside of Atlanta. It may be Athens, I can't remember, but it's in it is it is Athens, Georgia. So were you interested in it from an environmental standpoint or an investment standpoint? Environmental? Totally. I'm not

one that would be in stig into anything. I know that they're in their second or third round of raising. I think there it'll be nice when companies like that actually get their costs down and can produce a product that works. He ever had a fake straw? My god, man, if they sit in something hot for two minutes, they melt. You say fake, You mean like a recycled attempt marker at the paper. It's not recycled plastic. It's like what you find it as Starbucks. I mean it's like they melt.

I don't know how else to put it. They only work here's the thing, Melt, I'm the uh. It is difficult. It really is difficult to to to to make something that is both environmentally safe and efficient to produce. That's why we've gotten these shortcuts that have gotten us into trouble. I mean that's why because they were cheaper and fast, just like asbestos was just like everything everything. It's almost like everything that's bad is easy to produce,

and and that's why they do it. And it's easier and cheaper anyway. So so thank you though for telling us about it. We'll look into it. One of the things that it's really important to talk about too. He was just talking about this investing. Let me just explain something to you since I've really gotten involved in the investment world over the last two years,

for five years basically, but gradually, this is something mark. This is something that I found, especially when it comes to medical research, especially in cancer, but it happens in all sectors of stocks. And this is scary these initial rounds of raising money. Like let's say, let's say this company.

I'm not saying it's happening with this company, but let's say a company develops something really revolutionary and they'll form an entity to raise funds, and this entity, let's say, is licensed by this company that's making the plastic, let's say, but that entity has no long term agreement. A lot of people get excited about concepts and invest in entities that are initially involved, and

they do that almost to have risk free money. They don't ever have to pay back because they simply dissolve that company and the original company with the product license licenses a new company, or they sell to a new company. It's really weird, how IPOs or not necessarily even IPOs, but capital raising can screw the hell out of people in the initial stages. That's just, you know, something as an aside three oh three seven to one three eight two

five five, just beware of that when it comes to startups. Especially Frank Duran, the real estate man, does market analysis of your home to let you know what it will sell for. Do you know how important that is now? Because there are so many different factors involved. You want to know what your house will sell for. You don't have to list it to find

Hi Tom Martino, your troubleshooter three O three seven one three talks seven one three eight five to five. Okay. So, really, when it comes to when it comes to these kinds of issues that we've been talking about with debt collection, I just want to make another

statement because it's really important never ignore them. Okay, Dylan, what's going on with you? Hello Dylan? I'm Tom Martine. Hi, Hi Tom, this is done. Hey Tom, because I've been having some plumbing issues at my house ever since I moved in two years ago. Now, is this the home that you own, it's a condo and I'm in the basement. Okay, Now what kind of plumbing issues? Like I'm constantly having backup

issues to where I have. Now, when you say it's a condo in the basement, do you mean the basement of your condo or the condo is on the garden level. Yeah, I mean that it's a three story condo or two story condo. There's two units above me and I'm in the basement. Okay, So this building has three condos in it. It's got actually, uh, those are the two above me, and then I have two to the side that go up the garden level and one above it. And

then so you are literally it's not a walkout or anything. Are you totally subterranean? Yes? Okay, So anyway, how do you get your light from window wells? Yes? Okay, So continue, I'm sorry, thank you, No, No, that's okay. So the last two years, I've just like it's like every three months or so, I will have backup issues and it's always getting put on me. And I'm wondering if there's you're

talking about sewer backup issues? Yes, do well, it depends does this building in this one building how many total units are there in this one building? Just three or more in this building. In this building there are I'm trying to count in my head, there's about eight. Do you all have the same service line? According to my HOA president, the only ones that are on my service line are the two above me. Okay, okay. So now what that means is it's not your problem alone, and the HOA

should have regulations or rules dealing with it. They should help you with this. This is not a your problem unless they traced it to you. See, now, let me explain something. Each of those condos would have a service line, okay, And the service line in a house is easy to demark because it goes from the tap from the sewer tap into the house.

That's your service line. Now your condo is weird. You have a service line for the building, okay, that goes out to the main but then when it gets to the building, then you have sub service lines for each condo. Usually it depends on how it's plumbed. But if it was traced to write at your toilet or something or something you did, that's different. But usually that's not the case. But you're gonna have to do some some

exploring, some investigation to find out is the HA denying any responsibility? Uh yeah for the most part. So and do the other two condos just turn their you know, just hide their heads, yes, basically, like because you know they're not the ones having to pay for it. So this is terrible. I mean, you have to tell you're gonna have to build the caser. You have to you have to discern why it's happening, and if it's in the building's service line and you're getting a backup simply because us you're

on the lower floor, you have to do something about it. But you're going to have to do this work, this leg work. I mean, I'd love to help you, but I can't help you because they're gonna say you're clogging your drains until you tell them you're not. Where do you think the clogs are coming from? Have you ever had a camera, camera camera inspection. That's a weird word camera, But I have had a scope. Yes, I've had a better word. And what did they tell you?

They went out and there's there's a belly that's town in the line. That doesn't help much at all, Like I said, well, then that's not your problem. That you just happen to be getting backed up because you're at the bottom floor. If listen, man, you have to get that proof and you have to sue that other two people on your line for the OR and the h AA that you got to start doing taking some action, man. Or you have to address the KOA, just the HOA and have them

fix it. Okay, because after the belly too, when it comes back up like there's obviously like a discrepancy in the line where it looks like it's breaking it looking you better take care of this, bro or it's going to keep haunting you. But you have to do this. You understand that, I mean, we can't do this for you. You have Now you have a scope showing there's a belly causing the backup. Now you have to get a written opinion there. Then what you need to do is submit it to

the HOA and request that they fix it. And if not, you're gonna have to get a lawyer to write them a letter, okay, or or your your your homeowner's insurance saying look, you know you've paid for this a few times. Here's the problem. Go subrogate against the HOA and maybe they'll take it on. But either way, that's what you have to do. Three oh three seven, Thank you, Dylan. I want you to call me back. Don't stay in touch. This is not the schluffy off,

bro, This is to give you some direction. Three oh three seven one three eight two five five Bob as a mechanic. Okay, baba, what's your what's your issue? Well, back on January fifteenth, when it was real cold out, you know, like ten below in the mornings, Yeah, my wife and I were real sick with COVID and we were driving to

get our prescriptions and I blew with power steering hose. So, you know, both of us feeling like crap, and we didn't want to wait on a toe, and so I decided to drive my car home from Walmart knowing you know, IU damnage the power steering pump. Well, so we got to fill in better on the How did you know that your hose brookbusted? Could you see it? Yeah? And plus the steering got hard, got it? So you drove home? Did you ruin your pump? Well? Yeah, I ended up ruining my pump, but I took it to the

shop called MUDs Tires. He deals with tires. But supposedly he's got certified mechanics, and so the mechanic calls me up. I had it towed there on the seventeenth of January. And what's the name of the place again, MUDs Tires? MUDs, Okay, it's on fifty six ninety Logan Street. Is that a double D? No? It's well, okay, like mud

got it MUD's Tires. So what happened? Yeah, So I wait for a call from his mechanic that's supposedly certified, and he tells me, which I knew was going to be what I was going to damage the pump. He says, yeah, you blew a pressure line and the pump is junk. I says, okay, can you get it fixed for me? And he says yeah, we'll get right on it. All right now, Bubba, what I'd like you to do? I appreciate the step by step, but can you tell me speed forward? What's the problem. Well, anyway,

I went to pick up the car like four times. I wasn't see that's not speeding up. That's not speeding speeding up? Is tell me what's wrong? Drove it home on the last day. Tell me what the problem is? Right now? Today? I'm trying to get Larry to give me some money back because I had to take it to another shop to be fixed. Correct. Okay, what was wrong with it? What was wrong? That's good? What's wrong? I mean not good, but I mean at

least we're getting somewhere. What's wrong with the pump he did? What did he do wrong? They put a remanufactured pump on it and lets junk. And he claims they changed it twice, but the shop I took it to they talked to O'Reilly's instead. They only changed it once. Okay, hold on, this is good. I'll come. I got some suggestions three h three seven one three eight two five five. Go with a sure thing Denver's best roofer Excel Roofing dot com. You don't pay a cent until you're content.

Tom Martino, you're troubleshoot. Welcome to the show. Paul the Waterman's with us.

By the way, we have some texts for him. I'm going to get too right after the break on water systems. Now this issue with a mechanic Bubba. I mean, I don't blame you for being upset. If this guy installed, if this place MUDs Tires installed a bad remanufactured pump and you had to pay for it to get your money back, there's no if sends or butts because you had to take it somewhere else to be fixed. I mean, what is Mud? Is the guy's name Mud? By the way,

Now his name is Larry V. Hill. Okay, because I could make his name Mud. Okay, Larry V. Now let's talk about Larry. What does he say he'll do for you? He says he's done with me. He says they kept claiming my rack and pinion was bad and it wasn't. And the first thing, when I drove the car off his lot we got on a highway, the hupcap went flying off. So he owes me a hubcap. Well, the guys in the yeah, I mean, okay, I'll go along with that. But what do we do about it?

Small claims? How much did you pay for that re manufacturer pumping? Did you get it back from the second place you took it to the second place actually had to turn it in for a core. Now, how are we going to prove it was bad? Oh? I got it all documented from the shop. Good. How much did you pay MUDs? I paid him five hundred and well it ended up being four hundred and ten dollars he took it down to because I had so many problems with him. How much?

But four hundred and ten dollars? Well, why should you even pay that? I know exactly, and I think nicely if he could work with me to get my money back. And yesterday he says, no, we changed that pump twice and I don't owe you nothing, But well he does, he does owe you. He does. Oh he's been I'm not talking all. I'm not finding this be hill guy? Is this spelled V I G? I L Yes, sir, Okay, I'm not finding him. Okay, So here's the deal, man, Uh, Small claims court would

probably get you the best results. We'll call over there. Okay, we don't mind deputy. Doc, let's give a call. But I'm still thinking that you want to do a small claims court. But Doc, let's just see what the guy says to us and how what your feel is on that. But man, I'm with you, okay? Oh is he not there in Japan? Well he's got it still phone, he still answers it. All right, we'll call here, hold on and give that number to Kachina.

Susan, what's your tax question? Hi, Susan. By the way, we'll have lines open and we have three hours ago three oh three seven one three talks seven one three eight two five five Susan, what's going on? Tom? I'm trying to find out under what circumstance a Form fifty three twenty nine would be generated. I've got a ten ninety nine R inputed into turbo taps the individual that's sixty two years old the distribution, So hold on. You have a ten ninety nine R right correct okay for ode okay?

And that is for a pension? Right ethops under that's for a pension or a four K correct yump okay? And how much is that for? That's ten ninety nine? Are fifty three twenty nine and in line two it's got a code twelve, which, according to the ridiculous question, says distribution incorrectly. Yeah, I understand. Yeah, Rift of New need advice so you don't have run in sustass as we can. Shooter's gonna help

come. This is the Troubleshooter Show. Now Tom Martino, Hi, Tom Martino here three oh three seven one three talk three oh three seven one three eight two five five. Welcome to the show. We are here with uh Paul the Waterman waterpros dot net. We'll be talking about water coming up. I also want to remind you that Denver Regen dot com does stem Cell therapy. In addition to the new weight loss they've added for semiglue tide at two

hundred and fifty a month. They also do regular stem cell therapy, which is very important. I had that done and had great results Denverregen dot com. So Susan had a question. She said she was doing her taxes and TurboTax generated a form fifty three twenty nine and she thinks it's an error and she did it in conjunction with a ten ninety nine R. Now, let's

talk about this because I'll tell you. I don't want to get real technical, but i'll tell you in simple terms, what happened that when you entered the ten ninety nine are okay? That is a distribution from a qualified plan. Okay, Susan, Yes, and the ten ninety nine R is correct to enter it. What TurboTax is now doing is doing a calculation. This form is to see if you took the required minimum distribution? How old is

this taxpayer? Sixty two? Oh that's really young. Okay, yeah, okay, because this form somewhere along did you put in the date of birth and all that on the form? Yeah? Yeah, okay, cause jowning the fifty three twenty nine is additional tax on your qualified retirement plan. That's basically what it is. So they're seeing if you have to if you have to take more, if you took it at sixty two, they're saying it was an early withdrawal, possibly and it wasn't. Well. The catch is

that basically for the last umpteen years you've been getting this dividend. But I looked at the last three years and the ten ninety nine is identical. Always has that you for the distribution code for Bob Reevens, right, and this form has never been generated. It's fifty three nine right. So that's why I'm trying. Okay. All I can tell you is something you answered triggered something you answered triggered TurboTax into thinking additional tax is owed. It could be

a penalty because it was too young. It could be HSA, it could be something I'm not I don't know what it is, but I doubt if TurboTax is wrong if you filled out everything correctly, TurboTax does that automatically, So it could be early distributions, excess contributions. It could be failing to take minimum distributions. There are a number of reasons additional tax would be owed in any one year. Did you go through and fill out the questions on

form fifty three to twenty nine? Yeah? So online too is where they enter it accepts in a code for an exception, and they picked twelve. Quick. Yeah. But what I'm asking is, did you just go through Here's all I need to know, because we can't go through that form right now. I'm asking a simple question. After you did the form, did it require additional tax? No? Okay, then what's the harm of that form? I'm just well, the code that there's one, why it got

generated into why they picked a code of twelve? It doesn't even apply. But if it doesn't apply, it won't have any tax ramifications. You see, just because something is triggered, like an alternative minimum tax, if something is triggered, doesn't mean it's due. It simply wants you to fill it out and do the work and then it comes up with your tax obligation. Does that make sense? Yeah, I'm just but like I said, it's you know, happened last year or the year? And by the way,

what was that code twelve that it said? What was the one that doesn't apply. What what is twelve? Okay, this is from the book with that companies. What does it say? Basically, distributions incorrectly indicated as early distributions by code one j or s In, Bob Kevin A form. Hold on, hold on, Susan, Susan, you understand that that this form. Now I understand what you're saying. It doesn't apply, But it it. It did it correctly. It did not trigger additional tax. You simply

did the form and it did not trigger. You know, many times you get a form for like if you get a form for capital gains, it doesn't mean you owe capital gains. It's it's a it's a form you fill out because of it. Okay, But I wouldn't worry unless the only time I I'd worry about this is if that form resulted in more tax because it mistakingly thought there was an excess contribution or an early contribution excuse me, an early distribution or whatever. But I wouldn't worry about it. Of course,

you can always call your tax expert as well. But everything I'm seeing, that's why I wanted to talk to tax Yeah, and we do have tax experts. We tried to get a hold of them. But the answer was so obvious on all of the sites we went to. It said, this form does not necessarily mean additional taxes. Oh we have Larsen. Oh good, Okay, Okay, I think I just answered it. But we'll see.

Maybe I'm wrong. Steve Sazek, Steve, this person was doing tax and they entered information from a ten ninety nine R. Okay, And as a result, tax triggered Form fifty three twenty nine and she and it did and she filled it out and it did not result in additional tax but she wants to know. And again I don't know why she wants to, but she wants to know why it was triggered. Do you are you aware of

Form fifty three to twenty nine? I mean, it's really nuanced. It's with respect as far as I know, let's respect to like qualified irase. Yeah. So she had some form of retirement plans that she needed a report some additional taxes on and that was how you would use that particular form. Yeah. So what I've got is a ten ninety nine R that has a distribution code in box seven of you, which is a dividend distribution from AESOP under sec right. The person it's four is sixty two years old. Right,

it's not an early distribution. And we've had this form the same distribution, you know, like for the last three plus years and all the prior years formed to see through well. By the way, by the way, do you understand something? Maybe you don't. But when you take a distribution, even if you are qualified age, there is still tax on distributions of retirement plans. I mean they're not tax free, understand. On the first page of the ten forty that's included in right, that's right. However,

there are some cases where additional taxes may I'm saying may be required. What turbo tax did was generated that form to see if additional taxes were required, not to levy additional taxes, but to querry about it. I mean, look, I think the answer is Steve, well can You don't have to

agree with me. But the mere presence of that form is not saying she owes additional tax It does it well, and it gets kind of nuanced because the way that TurboTax and some of these reporting softwares operated is that yes, they'll they'll have you fill it out and then they'll calculate whether that's something that they would want to report. The form FI FI nine is designed to report

additional taxes ODE, and so you fill it out. I was just caution her to make sure if you fill it out, to review that return or have a prepare to take a look at it and say, hey, is this correct or not? Because Turbo Tax had me do this, and I can't determine whether I need to or not based upon how the software is. But here's the deal. After filling it out, it did not result in more tax. Yeah. If you fill it out and you look at that

TurboTax FORMA, say I filled it out, there's no additional sustment. Then therefore it's just the software doing this job exactly. That's the point I was trying to make, Susan. I don't know why it did this, and it didn't in the past. But by the way, Larson, while I have you on the phone, Steve, I was told by our accountants and I'm hearing that audits are very very light because the irs is so overworked. I mean, is that true. It depends on what you're getting audited for.

Right now. They're focusing right now on those erc the employment credit audits and a PPP fraud. All the people that took all of those credits are going to be haunted by it, yes, because they were. I think these people doing the commercials saying you're entitled to this, and you're entitled to this, and the company took twenty percent of what they collected, and you thought, well that I can't go wrong. Now what happens if you're assessed

that back again? What do you do with the twenty percent you already paid out? You know, this is the problem, Steve. I believe a lot of these r C credits were fraudulently obtained. Yeah, and people who are getting people who already paid those guys for their work from the refunds that they got from the IRS are now having to pay that refunded back to the IRS because it was not correct. Right. Not only the money that you

got, you have the money that you paid the other guys. So you're net negative and you have to now listen, I should say something on this ERC thing. What sometimes it wasn't that the credits were fraudulently gotten, but after receiving the credits, I think what people failed to do they had to

go back and amend previous years where they wrote off those expenses exactly. Yeah, so so many times when people got a credit for employee expenses that they had previously written off if they went back and amended the previous years, it was all almost damn wash after you consider the twenty percent commission they gave to these companies. Right, absolutely, any so, so many reasons why you need to vet. I'm not honest to god, it was like it was

one of the biggest scams. Now are you saying they're also auditing the the p PPP loans. Yeah, the three things that they're doing right now is PvP or C and then high net worth individual and that's I mean, most of the world doesn't qualify for that. It's twenty five million a year essentially. If you're making that, then you're going to be you're going to get

auditor this year and next. So so most of your listening audience, including myself, and I'm not pointing at you what your networth is, but I think we're probably okay as far as aus the ARA is trying to go out with the big fish right now, thank you very much. Hi Tom Martino, your troubleshooter three oh

three seven one three talks seven one three eight two five five. All right, we have Paul the Waterman with us as well as uh your calls, problems, questions, complains, so give us a call. We've had some very interesting calls today and again that one with the one with the forms and all of that. It gets really really difficult to discuss. It's very technical when it comes to doing your own taxes and all of that. But again, I think TurboTax does a pretty good job. I really do. So

what's on your mind today? Three oh three seven one three talks seven one three eight two five five now on someone's mind today? And of course you probably oh, though you don't haven't heard about it, but my colleagues have heard about it. This proposed HB twenty four eleven sixty three, which means nothing to you. But what do you think it is? It's called a pet bill, and it would require pet owners to register their animals. Now, when it says pets, what is it dogs? Cats? Or just

dog? What about you know, snakes, gerbils? I don't know. So in any case, this would require a registration. And really, when you think about it, it's more or less another tax. That's exactly what it is. It's just another tax. It has a Pet Animal Registration department

for pet owners to pay a registration fee every single year. And I don't know, but I'm looking here on the bill, Oh, a dog and a cat it says, so it's dogs and cats, not horses anyway, and you pay more to register if they're not neutered or Spade, well, i'd like you know, the incentive to get pets neutered. In Spade, we have way too many abandoned pets. It's going to be twenty five dollars a year for each animal without a designated caregiver. But if you designate a

caregiver, it will be uh only eight point fifty. That goes to sixteen if it's not neutered or spade, and it goes to twenty five dollars without a designated The whole thing stupid. I don't see it passing. I don't understand what it means. Why do they care about what's a designated caregiver? I'm with Governor mcpheebey. Everything is a fee because they're trying to raise money by going around the tax issue. Of course they are. It says here

first responders will use the system to identify the caregiver of an animal. Who might you know? So So anyway, in the event that the caregiver the pet of the incapacityation of the pet owner, so they're not talking about the pet owner. The pet owner is a given, but they want also a designated caregiver. So Mark, you're not in is this just oh, this is Colorado, so you'd have to do it too, Mark, So you have nothing to do with anything but money. It's another money, you can

designates. You can designate me as the caregiver for Nico and Dima, and there then you got a caregiver. How about that? Yeah, but for a buck and a half, you can get a thing on the dog's neck, on his collar that will give you the caregiver. You know what, this is truly ridiculous. It truly is a tax. I don't care how you look at it. I heard that you had a if you had an aquarium, you had to pay a tax for your fishing the aquariums. Come on, yeah, read it. I heard it was a post on next

door. Now paula waterman, Speaking of which, let's talk about if you had to do one thing to your water. I know what I would do. I would do the drinking water. If you had only one thing, what would you do the drinking water? Drinking water? For sure? At the fountain, right, I gotta jump in here. Yeah I disagree. I disagree now maybe because it's on well water. But that softener Paul put in this house has just changed my life for the good. And have you

have? You have better drinking water than most. But truly, if you're if you're anywhere, you need to get rid of chemicals and crap from your water, forever chemicals and plastics and all of that. You need to do a water system for filtration now softening. Can I jump in there for a second, Yeah, Paul, am I not am I not correct saying it doesn't matter if you drink out of a plastic bottle. For this reason, the steak you're eating has plastic in it. There is nothing we don't consume

that doesn't have plastic. Yes, a point of use might help out and cut back a little, but the bottom line is plastic is everywhere. Unfortune, it is everyone. Yeah, it's a it's a total environmental contaminating case. So then you think organic organic foods have I think it's all. It's all contaminating my personal and everywhere. Our rain comes from the earth that already has a plan. It's a big cycle. It's absolutely He's marked absolutely correct.

For example, and I shoulder you this morning time the PI files. When we started this, there were four chemicals in the forever chemical issue. Now there's a total of one hundred and ninety three that make up in the PI fos family, and that's basically total environmental contamination. But Mark, I don't think When I talk about drinking water, it's almost like surrendering, saying, well, it's in everything, I may as well just not care about

the water. I understand that that I understand that sentiment, but I would rather say, really, if you're going to hydrate properly, it's not just to keep chemicals out, but you get better hydration with the balanced water. You really do we? Truly do? You truly do the problem with municipal water supplies is eventually they're all going to be reusable source. California just came out with their game plan to go sixty percent in Los Angeles from the toilet

to the tap. Douglas tay and that Castle Rock. Aren't we talking about castle He was just saying this, Douglas County. Douglas County, Yeah, Castle Rock, I think is at seventy three percent from the toilet. So the crap, literally, the crap you flush down the toilet is coming out of your tap after it gets a little bit of a you know, they sprinkle some faery dust down there and tell you it's great, right, And so the chemicals that they use after you remove the poop, right, is

cancer causing. And the bigger issue I feel and they're going to start releasing it's pretty soon, is the pharmaceutical contamination. That's why the point of use for versosmosis, because the majority folks are on tapwater. There's a lot of tapwater that's that's growing in the rural areas. I mean there's communities you know, out east that I thought would be in wild water, but they're on

you know, a city water supply. And so when we come to that point, that's when I feel the point of use is more important because of all the other containments that you don't have mark because you're on a well and so the earth when water goes through to your aquafer, the earth can has a chance act like a natural filter and start grabbing some of that. Where in the municipal apply municipal supply you don't have that. By the way,

Glenn, what's your comment on taxes? Oh? I just you know, it seems like these guys in Colorado, on top of trying to grab every dollar they can, it's like they want you to get used to registering everything. I think eventually they're going to have a registration fee for your air conditioning, and our registration for your weapons and our registration. And who do you think it's modeling? What state do you think we're modeling? I would say

the Chinese state? Okay, but but now you're a hell of a good way to put it. We are California. I swear to god. It's almost like our legislators and our governor they so much want to be California. Well of course, I mean, why though there's the romantic crap show out there. I can't wait for that. What's that? I can't wait for the mass exodus like in California where all the high net worth people that are paying the majority of these taxes. I'll tell you what pisses me off more

than anything. If you paid zero income tax and last year you got the same amount as someone that spent three hundred thousand in income tax, you get the same amount through tabor. That was the biggest money transfer I have seen in a long time. Well, you know what I've said this before. I think mixed government and philosophy and discussion and debate is a good thing. I think a lopsided government is bad thing, no matter who's on the lopsided

side. And we're seeing this in Colorado. I mean, this state is going to hell. How can anyone say that our state is better off with Polis? How can anyone say that? How can anyone say that our city is better off with it? You use some math for me, real quick time. Forty eight point six million dollars to house one thousand people for a year. How many people is that? How much per person is it? Did you say forty eight thousand, forty eight point six million, oh,

forty eight point hous a thousand people experiencing homelessness? How much is that per person? Okay, I'm going to tell you right now. It is forty eight thousand. Okay, isn't that insane? Forty eight thousand? Why not give them forty eight thousand and tell them to move to Hawaii? For the life of me, why would you spend that kind of money. I just don't even understand it. And then half of them are going to stay there, if not three quarters of them, because guess what they want to be

homeless? Now, hold on a second, not everyone, But but I do want to say this. I did tell people they can get their problems solved, questions answered, all of that, and we're not, you know, we try to stay away from the fray. Now, let me explain this. We do have problems though that are affecting us on an everyday level. I mean, honest to God. But here's the deal. I don't think it's all one person's problem, or one party's problem or one I mean,

it's just here's what's going on. Here's the real problem. You know what it is where they're running from. I mean, obviously we have to control our border to an extent and have some kind of a systematic way of accepting people if we do want to help people. But isn't the real problem why they're running to begin with? And what is the most ironic thing in the world. They are running from governments that, in many respects we're trying

to mirror. Think about that. I mean, that is the most unbelievable thing in the world. That's what they're running from, a failed demonstration of governments we are, in essence, trying to mimic. Hi Tom Martino here three O three seven one three talk

seven one three eight two five five. So when we're talking about water systems, plumbing and all of that, here's the bottom line is that you need to get what you need to get you don't There's no reason to get things you don't need. That's why waterpros dot net does that free water test. Not everyone needs to soften water. When do you need to soften water? How would you know? What does the test show? Anything that seven grains

are above is considered really hard water. So hardness is measured by grain grains pergalan. This is what does that mean? This is solely for the purpose of water treatment, And so they give you a scale of zero, which is soft water, and then ten grains per galan, which is considered extremely hard water. I recommend water softening when you're ingrained into pergalen because at that point that's when the hard water is going to harm harm for other filtration,

I mean water. Water filters do not operate in hard water. That's why you know it's refrigerator. If you have a water spout and you see a bunch of you know, build crud crut, that's right, hard water's penetrated. That filters not doing anything for you. Now on the so on the grains. When you find hard water and make it so, that's called softening

or conditioning, that's softening. What is conditioning. Conditioning is when you do multi so you go soften the water and then take over chemicals, right, total cluing correct or you can do simply filtration and purification, or you can do softening correct And today's today's water supply with microplastics, the forever chemicals, pharmaceuticals, we know pharmaceuticals are there. What the water soft does is that's

what reverse osmosis is designed to operate is in soft water. The bottle water problem is because they misused the technology of you know, commercial reverse osmosis, and so now they have the contamination issue. And I wish the IBWA, which is Independent Bottlewater Association, would have come out and said, hey, we're going to look at our manufacturing practices and do a better job. Instead, they came out and said, hey, you know, don't believe the

science and just drink more water. Now that's Paul the waterman. If you have any questions three oh three seven one three talk three oh three seven one three eight two five five. Of course we're going to take more calls as well. So you know how people hide things from burglars? Do you know? Burglaries are up all over the country and especially in Colorado. I remember moving. I don't want to get into that. I sound like a crotchy old man, but we had a pristine state. People, So where do you think the first place the first place crooks look? Now I want to uh talk to Doc because I heard him talking to Bobba and off the air, and I was trying to get his attention because it sounded like he was arguing with Bubba, and I think Bubba was in the right. Well he had hold on. Let me first, let me lay it out. He said, on January fifteenth, he builtd power steering hose, so he drove home without power steering and it ruined us pump. It was towed to MUD's tires and they charged him four hundred bucks

for a remanufactured pump. Bubba said that remanufactured pump never did work and he had to go somewhere else to get it replaced. Now, all I said was this, if he paid four hundred dollars for a remanufactured pump that did not work, he should get his four hundred back. Period he got no value. But if that four hundred resulted in a core credit of some kind,

well then maybe just made be that core credit should be adjusted. But anyway, what did you find out when you called over and talked to Larry V. Hill at MUDs Well. He said that they put the pump in it was working, and that they did it twice, and that Bubba is saying he paid for a brand new power steering pump, and Larry is saying, well, no, it was a refurbished one. Well, hold on, no, no, Bubba told me he paid for a refurbished one. Say that again. Bubba told me when he called it was a it was

a refurbished one. Right, Well, it's a power steering pump. They're all referbed. You never buy a brand new power steering pump. I don't know what the issue is not, what does that have to do with anything. If he paid four hundred, whether it was new, used, or whatever, he deserves his four hundred back. Well, Larry is intransient, and he basically saying, we did the work, we put in a pump. You never brought it back to us. You brought it to another mechanic,

so it's on you. He said he took it back four times and it wasn't okay, couldn't get And then you know, Larry's saying that Bubba came into the shop, he was cursing, intimidating the people. It's that he said, She said, Tom, And I told Bubba we have no police power. We can't force Bubba. We can't force Larry to do anything. And if he feels that he's been unjustly charged for something, he can take him to smallest claim. I'd like to see, doc, I'd like

to see the receipt. And if this guy bought a power steering bump and another shop is saying it's failing and it needs to be replaced, and they have a warranty, we should like this guy up. Okay, well, let's get a copy of the receipt right because he said he he Bubba said he went back there and they could it four times. I think he said four times. And and now the guy says, well, you didn't give

me a chance. I'm just I'm just repeating what I get it. I get it, but it's Oh. Bubba is saying he paid for new for a new power seeing pump, and I told him that I was confused. They're all remanned. It doesn't matter. But it wouldn't matter. It doesn't matter, Doc, if it was four hundred, he paid four hundred. It doesn't matter what he paid for. I agree with you, but he's he's upset because he thinks he paid for a new one. Well, what

difference does that make? Just one more thing he's upset about. That's all, okay, big deals. He paid four hundred dollars for something that didn't work. What difference does it make if it was new or used? It doesn't matter. He paid four hundred for something that didn't work. I mean, period, that's all. You limit his loss to what he paid because it didn't work. I agree. And and now it would be different if

he got a new one for six hundred from the new guy. And he wants that, you know, he wants Larry to pay for the new one. Of course, not what Larry should do. If Larry truly installed a pump and Bubba got no value from it, he should get his money back if in fact truly was defective. Now, according to Larry V. Hill Over at MUDs, he replaced it twice, yet there is no receipt to prove that whatsoever kept the same one in there. Tom he's out of town.

He's coming back tomorrow night. I will call him on Wednesday when he's in town and talk to him again. Yeah, okay, okay, good. And so Larry said he did the work and should be paid a great I agree, but I okay, and uh and Bubba saying he didn't. So we're going to figure it out. Three oh three seven to one three talk seven one three eight two five five. Welcome to the show. I want to go to Josh right now. I hope Josh is there. Josh, are you there? I was having some problem with the two. Are

you there, Josh? Okay, I'm here, Tom right cool, Josh, listen. Uh. It's this Thursday. We're having our seminar our, our summit on retirement, and it's really important for me right now because people are confused as hell on what to do with free your retirement. You'd be shocked to how many people think savings accounts or iras or four to one k's or all of this stuff that constitutes a retirement plan. Can you shed some light on that, on the difference between elements and a plan. Absolutely.

Tom. A lot of times when we sit with folks, they're like, oh, yeah, I've got a plan. I've got this four to one K, I've got this IRA and that's the start. Absolutely, But how do you use those retirement accounts? How does that play into your plan? What we're going to talk about it this Retirement Freedom Summit on Thursday with you, Tom is how to effectively use those accounts to make it last for the rest of your lives. How to minimize the amount of taxes that you pay

on those funds. How do we create streams of income that's going to allow you to have com evidence in the future. You know, all those things work together, and simply having the account itself is not a plan. We're trying a certain amount of money or a percentage is not a plan. That may be an element of it, but it's not a plan of it because you could run out of money in it very easily. Absolutely, What do you think is the most overlooked, UH strategy for not running out of money?

If you had to pick a strategy that's overlooked, Oh, without question, it's annuities. I mean, we're not an annuity shocked by any stretch of the imagination, Tom, as you well know. But we like annuities and they're overlooked because there's a lot of talking heads out there that don't make ongoing revenue about or from annuities, and so that's why they get a bad

reputation in the marketplace. Okay, then another thing we talk to people a lot about spending down their assets so they can be eligible for a Medicaid facility. And so many times I would say, we've had people call and say, you don't want to be eligible for a Medicaid facility. You want to be able to get quality long term care if you need it. So what

do you do about that? Yeah, So there's a lot of strategies that can be employed in order to have pretty decent long term care coverage going forward. And we're not saying go out and buy a long term care insurance policy because quite honestly, Tom, those can be expensive by the time people start thinking about those. And the issue you have is if you don't end up utilizing that coverage, you're out a lot of money over your most important years,

being the years that you're not earning money and your retirement. So there's strategies that you could utilize long term care insurance but still have access to your money should you need it. I just want to give a little preview Thursday night, we're going to have this at six o'clock, and I want people to go to rpcenter dot com to find out more. But basically I want to ask you something just as a preview, What is I heard this expression

you guys using this expression a tax explosion? What the hell does that mean?

Yeah? Yeah, So for folks that have four and ks or irays and have sucked a lot of money into them over the years, we're not saying that's a bad thing, but there's going to come a time, whether it's upon retirement or whether it's when you get to required minimum distribution age, which is seventy three for a lot of folks nowadays, you're going to have to start drawing that money out, whether you need it or not, and that could incur some pretty hefty tax liability, and we want to help folks

to minimize that as much as humanly possible. When they have to draw it out, the percentage they have to draw out, are they allowed to reinvest it again in something that could be or would that just count against them again for minimum distributions. No, they could reinvest, just not within those iras or four one case. Once they leave those accounts, okay, you can put them into like a brokerage account. You can put it into the savings,

you can pay down debt. There's a lot of strategies that could be implemented in order, but they can't like going to a ross fund. No. So that is one thing that is not eligible to happen. If you pull out required minimum distributions, you have to pay taxes on those funds and cannot reinvest them into a rock that said any money on top of required minimum distributions. Yes, you could do a ROS conversion on those funds, okay,

and I appreciate it. So ourpcenter dot com should have enough information for them on this absolutely yep. And it'll give you the link to register for the event on Thursday at six pm. Hi Tom Martino, you're troubleshooter three O three seven one three Talk Trio three seven one three eight two five five. Welcome to the show. We're here to help you solve problems, to answer questions and take complaints. And we have Paul the water Man with us. But we're taking your calls on any and all items that you want to discuss Paul the water Man. Okay, So on water systems, people want to know if it matters or not.

But does the soft water have any positive effects on your health? The softening softening of the water. We know purification, but we often get hazy when we talk about water softening. While water softening in and of itself does not actually filter the water, right, So what is your feeling on that? So water softener removes the hardness. So does that help your health? Absolutely?

It helps the largest organ in your body with your skin. Okay, okay, all of that, you're right, you know, and and a lot of a lot of issues skin irritation X amount of issues can be you know, caused by hard water, the soap film, the soap sticking left over on your skin. That slimy, slickery feeling that I love is your pores opening up. And so that's you know, when you have when you don't have a water softer. It's like the washcloth test we did, yes,

right, and you saw that trapped soap. So if the soap sticks in the washcloth, it sticks to the hair, it sticks on your clothes, it's on your skin. So absolutely, you know, the water softener is a big benefit phenol for your skin. Now, I hate to bring this up, but we must. There are softening or or advertised softening systems out there that don't work. How did they get away with them? I mean they're advertised by plumbing contractors and wow, what is the principle? Is

it a magnetic principle? Yeah, there's no such thing as a free water softer. I was at a house the other day in Commerce City that had the halo that we talked about at the time. Yeah, okay, and so the halo's installed in in this couple's house. You know, they paid over five thousand dollars for it, and it did not soften the water. I mean the water test. I know you can show it. But here's

what they say. Because I've talked to plumbers about this, and the Halo system is just outrageously priced and it is advertised all over as a softener. It's absolutely not. So you can actually test the water far and after, right, And so that the water hardness coming out of the halo was you know, fifteen grains per galon hard I mean that's extreme going on. It was the same same, So so okay. Then then when I asked somebody about that one time, somebody that I don't think is a bad person.

I think they're smart and good people. They said, well, the water may measure as hard, but the hardness is not doing any harm because of the Halo system. So hard water, I'm just saying what I hear. And so hard water is a rock, it's a scale, and so in liquid form it's calcium carbonate. When air comes in contact to it, that's when it the scale precipitates out of the water. So tell me how a magnet is going to affect a rock. Well, here's what they claim.

Again, I'm going by what they claim. They say that. They say that what they're doing is aligning the minerals so they don't deposit. So even though the water is hard bi chemically testing it it's or by you know, testing the elements, it doesn't do the harm. That's what they're I'm going by what they claim. I understand it. But see to me, like, has anyone actually opened up and compared them? I wonder because that would be the ultimate test, do you know? Stuck? So here, let's

let's use their theory. If a magnet repolarizes the molecules, so then they are in there in suspended state that they don't oxidize. That's not true. Hardness is still going to oxidize, Calcium is still going to precipitate out of the water. They're not. And do you realize if that's the theory, how can you polarize remagnetize a scale based mineral? Magnetism works on metals,

right, not all metals, but certain metals correct? Yes, Okay, so then how can you take a magnet and say that you're going to suspend something? Well, I'm looking at this one that says there are limitations of traditional water softeners versus halo and again I'm only going by the only way you can test water is by testing the hardness correct. So, but how isn't it odd? And by the way, there's no question if I went with

a softener, it would not be hill on my own personal home. It would be the conventional assault softeners, and especially the ones Paul the Waterman uses. Now that's not because I think people are trying to cheat you. I mean all over the country they're selling these damn things, these Halo systems, and I don't know how they get away with it. I mean, how does the FDA let them get away with it? Well, the FDA doesn't is not regulated, and it goes into truth in advertising. That's the that's

one thing about it. But here's the Water Quality Association, which everybody that you know is worth their salt in the water treatment industry as a member of. And then they have you know what they call, you know, truth and manufacturing and advertising practices that make you sign a ConA conduct. So there's three companies out there that actively advertise ones Pelican and they know better and the

other one is Halo. And now I think has changed the website. If you go directly to the website, I don't think the Halo website calls it a water softer anymore. I think they actually called it a water conditioner. I think they've changed that and Pelican is the other one. Now you know water if they call it a water system, right, they're not calling it salt free soften anymore, not on the website because you know that guy crased water softening. Salt is just a detergent. It's not a filter media.

The salts converted to a saline and it's the sailing that rinses, including people think it puts salt the water, right, doesn't at all. Salt is used to scrub the filters, correct, That's all that's it. It creates its own saline. So when the closed system, the salt doesn't get into your water. Correct. And so when you when you go with the Halos, it's it's activated carbon. And then at the very bottom the magnet that they plug into the wall is one ten. So I mean that the power

that's going to it is is how much? So my reason why'm bringing that up is because there's no way that you're going to suspend something for a long period of time when it's sitting in you know, plastic pipe because the majority of the home is our new homes are plumbed and pecks. So if the theory was right, if you're an old house, you had copper pipe, and then copper would copper, you know, continue the conductivity of the magnet.

I mean, that's what I'm trying to figure out. What, you know, what why they would make these statements, and so in today's world, you know, when you have a magnet. Magnets first came out tom in the nineties. But but, but, but here's the deal. There are some flat out, in my opinion, false statements on this website. It says that traditional water softeners are priced higher than halo. I have never seen that ever, never. I totally agree. Okay, another one,

and I don't want to listen. I don't mean to be controversial, folks, but but there are so many people that are buying this and again, I mean okay, and it says you're lack of filtering. Traditional softeners do not filter contaminants. Ok. They are designed to address hard water with an ion exchange, all right. And it says here that the resin bed inside the softener can be damaged by chlorine. Is that true? Back in the day. That's true. But now resin technology, you know, is designed

where they're you know, chlorine resistant. So if this was twenty years ago, I totally would agree with that statement. But nowadays resume manufacturers have designed the resin to deal with high chlorine content and it's a chlorine an we're other thing traditional systems. This is what Halo is saying is an ion exchange with salt as a regenerative, and it says leaving salt and drinking water. That

is absolutely not true. That's false. That's absolutely I mean, so people, you know, I know, it's hard to believe that there are actually falsities being done in marketing. And it says traditional soft AsSalt softeners require frequent backwashing. Well, backwashing is a natural process to clean the filter halo. The Halo system uses a backwashing control valve of the Halo five there. And then there's some Halo systems that are just basically magnets that they clamp onto the

pipe. I'll tell you another one that that is the phony is that they call the scale buster, where you know, it looks like a little amplifier, right, a car amplifier that you would you know, use for a stereo system and then they have wires that you wrap on. Here's the essence. How do halo systems treat hard water? Here's the essence on their own site. Unlike ion exchange systems that substitute salt for calcium and magnesium. Okay,

it actually does it. Actually they bind to it, they don't substitute it. Right, So the byproduct of the water softenare sodium by carbonate, which is baking soda. So the ion exchange, the calcium and the chloride go down the drink. Right, that's exactly right. So you're not substituting salt for that. You're not putting salt in the water. Correct. Now, the halo ion inline water conditioner transforms calcium and magnesium into crystallized formations.

These I believe that. By the way, I believe that the crystallized minerals are harmless and free from hard properties. So let's talk about it. So, how can a magnet form something into a crystal? Well, But if it does, I would like to know, has anyone actually had a long term test of a conventional softener versus a halo and looked at the pipes themselves. That would be the test. We had someone who had a boiler right

exactly right, that's how I was going to think. And this boiler ran with a halo and it failed and it was clogged up well with hardness. That's there's the proof right there. They lived up in outside of a kitchen I think close to the person sold the halo system for along with this boiler, and they were told, if you use this halo system, it will keep the boiler from failing from hard water. Correct the right, within a few years. It failed due to hard water exactly what not even a few

years, within months. But see, I find it odd. I find it shocking and odd that such a well known system all over the country can can just market it like this if it's not true, I mean maybe I shouldn't find I don't know, or or maybe it's partially true or something, because it just seems weird to me. two five five. So I was reading some sciences view on Halo, and we were talking about halo softening as compared to regular softeners, the conventional softeners that do an ion exchange. And this guy who says he's an industrial water treatment expert for twenty years plus says it's magnetic mumbo jumbo. He says, first of all, using multi reversing permanent magnetic fields to affect a so called ionic charge identity is pseudoscience, preying on the ignorance of people who do not

understand water chemistry. He says, first of all, they're experts, do not even understand what's supposed to happen with magnetic fields. Anyone who seriously believes that a magnetic field can alter the structure of calcium ions and prevent precipitation lacks understanding of basic science in chemistry. This is a twenty plus year industrial water treatment expert. Also, carbon will eventually be exhausted and require replacement, so

they use carbon as well. Paul, that's correct. Carbon is something that gets exhausted rapidly in hard water. So don't they have replaceable carbon filters in those systems. No, it's going to activated carbon, so you'd have to come out and empty out the old carbon and put new carbon in, and so carbon absorbs organics like a sponge. And he's correct. So what's going

to happen is is that activated carbon will be exhausted within a year. These sorts have been around, These sorts of systems have been around for years. Companies change their names and trademarks, and he says it's akin to gipsy driveway paving companies. Wow, that guy was pretty harsh, and that was on Quora. By the way. Again, you know, I have always been amazed at the dichotomy of opinions when it comes not only to this, but

weight loss, stem cell therapy, anything. I mean, how people can just straight out tell you one thing and another person will tell you exactly the opposite, and they both can't be true. So what I have done, what I've done in the past, is what I call the threat of truth, and I believe consumers are should always employ what I call the threat of truth. Now, let me explain this very very carefully right after this, because it's honest to God important that you know how to discern what's called the

threat of truth. Some people call it a commonality of truth, but it is absolutely the one system that I use when researching everything, absolutely everything, and we need to talk about it coming up three O three seven one three talks seven one three eight two five five Go with a sure thing Denver's Best roofer excel roofing dot com. It's called Nocturn Jazz and Supper Club. Now Social comes in at like fifty one. That's an old town for Collins. They say that's going to be very, very romantic, and then coming in at fifty nationally. But in Colorado, I've been here. I love this place. Odyssey Italian restaurant. Odyssey, and that is someone who's been around for

years. I know him and Nate. He started this years and years ago, and he's had some restaurants before this. But it's a great restaurant. Well, we are down in the Colorado Springs area and we hired a contractor to go ahead and renovate our home. What he has done looks very good workmanship. Issue we're having a problem with it is that he's taken three years and seven and a half months to get us back in there. And wait three

years? Yes, wow, and we've been staying in a hotel this whole time. My husband is one hundred percent permanent and totally disabled. Them. By the way, have you ever contacted us before? No? Okay, this I wonder if it's the same guy who's the contractor. I I don't know if I want to say that, I don't know, because we've got different things going on. Okay, what do you have going on that that

you might think you? Well, I investigated for using our credit cards to purchase eighty five thousand dollars worth of stuff for other people versus use it on our home. Okay, I want to know Judy this contractor are you back in your home? No, we're not because now we have to fix things. He was fired when the cops were there last week taking pictures. And

why were the cops there because they were letting. They were getting pictures to make sure that there was proof that the items that he had used our credit card for our credit card? Ye? Who? But who first reported it? Did you? Did you notice it? We did? Okay, So let me get this straight. You hire a Colorado Springs contractor three years ago?

Right, Actually, technically we hired him in twenty eighteen. I believe it was to go ahead and redo our roof, and we asked him to do an addition because it didn't make sense spending money to replace the roof if we were to have an addition put on. So we've been working with him all this time, okay, and he just he recently was fired. He recently was fired. Now this eighty five thousand dollars in unauthorized charges? Were

those charges done over that whole period or recently? They were done December of twenty ninth, No. Of twenty twenty and January February of twenty twenty two twenty and when did you discover When did you discover them? Okay, all right, sorry. My husband was in the hospital a lot when he went in for COVID. He has Parkinson's and he was hospitalized two years ago with COVID and I'm his full caregiver and it's been a lot of hospitalizations. Also

have two adult daughters with disabilities, and I'm also they're full caretaker. May I ask you why you didn't notice that your bills were eighty five thousand dollars higher we had, and I know we made lots of mistakes. Well, wait a minute, how much? Let's maybe it's because your project was so big? How much was your how much was the home renovation contract supposed to

be the whole thing? He didn't he didn't give us a contract. And I know, how how could you ever hire people without a contract, not knowing how much it was going to cost? You had no idea how much it was going to cost? No, we didn't. We were Wait wait a minute, what if it was going to cost a million dollars? Did you have a million dollars? No? Really, Judy, I mean that sincerely, did you have any idea what it was going to cost any idea

whatsoever? Roughly? Okay, Like, did you discuss that with him? Roughly? What was it roughly supposed to cost? Roughly one hundred and fifty for the edition, maybe class, roughly one hundred and fifty for the bank. I thought it that would cost roughly, that would cost around one hundred and fifty. I get it because you trusted him, right, Yes, we did. Now this one hundred and fifty would that when you add up

everything you've spent so far, how much did it come to? We haven't given him any money for a couple of years, but I want to know. Hold on, I want to know now he's never given us any kind of invoices. Yeah, no, no, no, I'm not asking any of it. I'm going to make this real simple, Judy. I'm asking a very simple question. In total transfer of wealth or money from you to him? How much has it been since the beginning? And seventy five thousand

dollars? Does that include credit cards? Does that include the eighty five in credit card? Yes? It does. Okay, so so far you have paid Okay, so far, you've paid about one hundred and what seventy five thousand? Okay? And that includes eighty five unauthorized correct. Okay, what is your credit card balance right now? Well, we still own one credit card. This was the course of this was on four or five different credit cards and we only have one left payoff and I think it's about fifteen thousand.

Wow, you guys are doing great. Now. How much is it going to cost to fix? What are you screwed up to finish? You said the workmanship was fine? Right? Well right, but like I have MS. So I had asked to have a wall eleven that had the French doors, and he put a regular one in. The bookcase that he put in for my husband is two and a half inches deep at most. So he came a book on it, isn't it? The handicap thinks in the master bathroom are twelve inches wide. And how about if you just give me

a total? How about just giving me a I don't know. I don't know, because why didn't you notice all this stuff happening over the last nineteen five years? We noticed no, none of this because I haven't been able to be around him in the house or outside of the house. We have been living in a hotel this entire time. Yes, because every single time that we thought that we would get a house to rent. Oh no,

no, you're going to be in bye. Well, i'll have you in by Thanksgiving, I'll have you in, by Christmas, I'll have you and by Easter. And it never ever made sense for us to go ahead and get a house to rent. And being a full time caregiver for three adults, it's three full time jobs. There's nothing. I mean, I I am all of It's left up to me. So I'm meeting myself, coming

and going with all of those responsibilities in my family takes priority. And so there were things that if my husband was in the hospital and I was worried about the blood cloth that he had that went from his hip all the way to his knee, I didn't think about the house. This sounds and I know that sounds really strange. My kids, Are you in Pueblo, No, We're in Colorado Springs. And it was not until after my husband was

hospitalized that we found out that he was a felon. He had a friend who was a bank loan officer don in Pueblo who was granting him uh loves based on fraudulent financials, and so they both ended up going to prison and they got he got out right before he found us or we found him, whichever. And why don't you if he's under public investigation, just give me his name? Brian Hetel, Brian Hetel, Brian Hetel, I mean, where does he stand? Is he being arrested or what not? Yet that

it has to be the investigation has to be finished. This is a sad state of events. Man, how are you spelling? HEATL H G A D l e h E A D li Okay, listen, what do you need from us? What were you hoping we could do for you? We need an attorney to be able to try to get back some of these costs. Does he have any money? And we need some sort of a decent contractor who's going to do a good job. He not only has his own construction company under his girlfriend his name, but he also worked with the pies.

Give me the name of the company. Award Construction, Award Correct Awards Construction A W A R D Award. Okay, what was the other one? Blue Ridge Contractors? And are they both his? No? The Blue Ridge contract well, the Award Construction is owned by his girlfriend and Blue Ridge Contractors. His buddy's dad owns it, and that's how he has his licensing is through them. Who was your contract with? Who was our contractor? I told you, Brian Hadel, No, who was your contract with?

Which company award construction? But every blueprint and every permit was pulled by Blue Ridge Contractors. Oh my god. Well, I don't know what an attorney's going to do this guy. I mean, you might just be wasting money. I hate to tell you this. I mean, if this guy is a bum and has no money, I mean, yeah, you probably should talk to an attorney. I'll tell you, Mark, we have some good contractors in the Springs area, really good ones, don't we. Yes,

we do. Who's the one that builds homes and also does home improvements? He mostly does new homes, he does some home in I want to say, it's called Garden of the Gods. Yeah, that's right. But and then Genesis is up there. Yeah, you're right, Genesis. You know, we might have them look at it. I'm wondering if I'm wondering if we should have Genesis look at this. Gina give let's get her information and see if what Mark would charge to fix this, what it would cost,

and what condition is it? In, Judy, do you think the workmanship itself has to be redone or it just has to be completed. This is going to sound really strange, but we had court site put in the shower. He didn't ask us to come and look at it or anything. He just put it in and it looks like a demon. I'm not joking, I'm not exaggerating. He's doing things like this to go ahead and get under our skin. A demon. So I don't think what's that? It looks

like a what? A demon? Do you have a place I can send a picture? Yeah? Yeah, we do you Hold on now, this is we got to take this break. This is getting really crazy. Hold on, Judy, let's get this picture. I want to see it. We got to put it up, she said. He on purpose did the whatever some surface to look like a demon. Well, we're gonna look at that. What has he been working for the last two years without a payment? He has been working, Yeah, I guess, but we're talking working a week on, six weeks

off. Yeah, but he's been working. He's been working. Do you think do you think that's why he did those unauthorized charges? Because he figured, screw them. If they're not going to pay me, I'm going to get paid. No, Because that was at the very beginning of us being in the hotel. I mean we've only been in here ninetys. You actually have receipts that he signed. How do you know he used your How do you know he used it? Did you trace any of the materials to other

people's homes? Yes, we did. Give me an idea, I'm sorry, give me an idea of what you trace to other people's homes. Well, concrete, an asphalt and a complete kitchen ade kitchen, and we don't have kitchenad anything. Wait, can I ask you something. I don't do too bad for myself, But I don't have an eighty five thousand dollars line of credit on my credit card? Do you No? These were five different credit cards that we put and took out specifically for him. He said that

it would not work and you never noticed. You never noticed these big balances on each of these five cards. Please let me tell you what happened. He said that he was not able to go ahead and have me meet him at the different places. My husband was sick, so he said, go ahead and sign this little disclosure gives me permission to use your credit cards. So we did, and we gave him the numbers. Yeah, but you

had to be getting bills every month. Yeah, but like I said, my husband was sick and we're stuck in so you weren't paying attention to the statements every month. We were. But they didn't have itemized anything. I mean they would have like, Okay, there was a little bit of building supplies, or there was a cabinet that was purchased, or there was whatever, And you're thinking and you're thinking, well, quite possibly we could have

done that. Well, yeah, because they were all different places. We had concrete work done, because we with the addition we have, I got it. Yeah. Have you looked him up? Does he have a lot of complaints from anyone else? No? What do you think happened here? I think that he did not. He's taking his hatred for me out in my family. No, wait a minute, what do you mean hatred? This sounds very What makes you think he hates you and that he would put

pictures in your shower? He would he would make it look like a demon. I mean, that's those are pretty strong feelings and he probably thinks you're nuts. But why Mark? But I'm because because she's saying that there's a demon in her shower. How would you respond to that? Well? I okay, it sounded a little weird when she told me that she thought he did this on purpose. Okay, it's up right now? Is it on YouTube? Yeah? Okay, look at the shower. Tell me what you

see. What do you see? Do you see a demon? I don't. I really don't see the demon part, But I mean I see where it's weird looking. It is weird looking. I mean, but I don't know, are you going to have that whole thing redone? We have to. We don't have any choice. Why our daughters, Because our daughters have special needs. They're intellectually disabled, yet they can see faces and different things like that, and it is going to freak them out. There's absolutely no

way. And even if you don't see, the demon of Pallas is very obvious and what is I'm not going to subject them to that either. Oh you mean yeah, like no, it looks like uh yeah, it definitely. I'm just going to say. It looks like a vagina to me. See to me, it looks more like the diepart. Never thought of that. No, I don't see that. Yeah, you're looking the wrong way. You're thinking of it going up, look down and you can see what I'm talking about. Oh yeah, okay, okay, yes, is getting

really weird. I mean we're almost uh anything, it's an eagle. It could be an eagle. You're right, it is as dragon put it the best. What is it? Dragon? It's a test. We did have a staff member here said it looked like an owl. No it is. It's a Warshack test. That's exactly those ink blot tests. I'm just sure the contractor didn't go, oh, I'm going to put up a demon head in their shower. No, I don't think so. Tell me this. Why would you think that he would put two twelve inch sinks separated by a

cabinet and recessed four inches for the handicap accessibility for my husband. That's crazy, But I don't think he did it to punish you. He might just be incompetent. You know, we need to try to call him, really, get his number, hold on, get his number. We have more coming right up. I'm Tom Martinez. Three O three seven one three eight two five five. Tom Martino, Hey, listen, Jan, we may have to continue this

tomorrow. But you paid three thousand dollars to Cabinet World for new cabinet doors in April of last year. We're coming up on a year. What do they have to say about it? When you call them, they do not get back in any form with either me or my contractor. Do they? I mean, they're totally ghosting you. Are they still open? Well,

that's the question. And my contractor did that live thing where he could see the business and there were vehicles there, didn't he called the business next door and or across the street, and that business said, yes, we see vehicles there, so something's happening, but it isn't my cabinet doors. So you've never went. Do they even answer the phone? No, I've got a phone number of facts, two emails, no responds. Give us that information. We're going to try to get a hold of them and get you

on tomorrow. We're going to try to do this hold on. I don't want to run out of time. That's a lot of money. By the way, how did you make the payment? Was it by credit card? Yeah, we'll get her tomorrow. If she made the payment by credit card, that's fraud man. She can get her money back way over your year. You generally have ninety days, I know, but with frauds sometimes they extend it. Sometimes if you can say this was fraudulent from the get go,

they and especially if they still have an account. It's not a guarantee, but it's something. She said, North Carolina. I think, why'd you find one? No? No, no, it was local. Someone could just go down there in person. Yeah, of course I missed where they were. By the way, I want to remind people now, if you want the if you want the greatest water systems at the lowest prices, whether it's softening or conditioning, doing everything, or you know, which is

like a treatment, or you want just the drinking water. You're going to get the best prices man from water Pros. And uh, Paul, what else you got anything new on the pike. Yeah, we're working on a tank list reverse OSMOSA system that we're going to put in the test market. So it takes two gallons of water to make one gallon of drinking water, but we're setting it up where it doesn't need the holding tank. Oh, so that right, and so as right now in development, we can function

up to thirty minutes continuously. Uh, and then you know it has to be reset. But that's something that we're that we're testing out right now. Oh, that would be wonderful. And that's for drinking water. That's for drinking water. And of course they have a system right now. How much is that system fourteen ninety five fourteen ninety five installed at your kitchen sink for all the drinking work you want? And that's Waterpros dot net three zero three
