in that ridiculous suit and bow tie and your Samplegate background. And what you don't realize is that nobody ever watches this show. The video never goes out. This is just for us, This is just for us people at home. One of our contestants, Eric good friend of mine. We went to the same college, and he is representing that college and university with full full bluster. He is wearing a Indiana Hoosier's red suit, bow tie, and
shorts basketball shorts yep. And his background is the famous sample gates right off of Kirkwood Avenue as you enter the campus of IU. We will definitely have those pictures up for you to peruse so you can get it in your head when you're listening to this episode, because it's wonderful. All right, are
you ready for question number two? Yeah? Yes, all right. Question number two goes like this, what twelfth president of these here United States was nicknamed Old Rough and ready, I'm going to give you a multiple choice. Breathe a sigh of relief. What twelfth President of the US was nicknamed Old Rough and Ready? Was it James K. Polk? Was it Zachary Taylor? Or was it Millard Fillmore? Was it Polk, Taylor or Fillmore that had the nickname Old Rough and Ready? Number twelve for question number two,
All right, this is right up your alleys. You can't miss this one, or you're gonna have to, like, you know, take take a knee and then take a lap. Question number three is your sports question and the general knowledge round. What four teams faced off against each other in the most recent NCAA women's basketball Final four? Can you name all four final four teams and the most recent women's final four? For question number three, I
got that one right. Let's just score that one and then call this whole thing a dave. We're all still friends. Everybody likes each other so far. Can question three be worth like one hundred points? Well, there's four answers, it should be worth four. Ah, all right, question number four, or we've arrived at question number four. What actress portrayed Karen Cisco opposite George Clooney in the nineteen ninety nine film Out of Sight. Out of
Sight? But name that actress that played Karen Cisco opposite George Clooney in the nineteen ninety nine film Out of Sight. Question number five of eight, Sonny is the mascot for Coco Puffs. What type of animal was Sonny Coco Puffs? Sonny was the mascot the cartoon mascot for Coco Puffs. What type of animal? What the hell was Sonny? For question number five? Question number
six, what very wealthy? Media? Mogul got his start as a stand up comedian and one of the early hosts of that NBC show I think it was from seventy nine to eighty four was called Real People with Skip Stevenson and Sarah Percell. Even Peter Billingsley and a bunch of people are on it Fred Willard. But what very wealthy media Mogul got his start as a stand up comedian and as one of the hosts of the early eighties NBC show Real People.
He's now worth hundreds of millions of dollars? For question number six, media Mogul got his start he was a host of that or he was just he was one of the Yeah, he was one of the hosts on Real People. He started out as a stand up actor and an actor, but like that was one of his first gigs and then he kind of became this media machine that's worth a jillion dollars. All right, we are at question number seven year penultimate question in the General Knowledge Round. The late Great Dolores
oh Reordan was the lead singer for what band? Dolores oh Reordan nineties band. We all had the CDs and our CD towers. The late Great Dolores oh Reordan singer for what great band? They had that one big song, right, They have a few hits, but yeah, one or two pooge hits. Yeah, yeah, I know. All right, our final question, we're here question number eight of eight the General Knowledge Round. Can you name four of the six space shuttles? There are six space shuttles that had
names. One was a test run just for landing and stuff that they would throw off a jumbo jet and just see if they could land the thing a bunch of times. But then there was five that did a bunch of orbiting the Earth and doing all sorts of stuff. Can you name four of the six space shuttles? For question number eight? I'm really hoping for the fractional scoring. Yeah, yeah, yep, there will be fractions for sure in this round. Pencils down. We will go over our answers in just a
quick second. But it's time to meet my two brothers from Indiana University. This dude grew up in Saint Louis, MO. He's got a bunch of great projects. You know him from creating and being one of the producers behind Carpool Karaoke on Apple Plus and Carpei DM with I don't want to butcher the day, Wampa Zorita, Wampa Zorita on the Roku channel, Karpei DM and Carpool Karaoke. My good pal Eric Pankowski is here today. Hello. Are there applause? Put in for that? Is there a rockus? I feel
like I need some kind of support at that moment. You can follow Eric on social media and his podcast The Hoosier Hysterics And I'm gonna spell that so it's at Hoosier and then you take a bunch of the vowels out, so it's Hoosier h y st r cs. That's Hoosier h y st r cs. You know how we say it, Mike, we say it's hysterics no e, no I, but sometimes wah and it still doesn't help. It doesn't help people find you guys on the twitters or the axes or whatnot.
What awesome charity are you playing for today, Sir? I am playing for JNF, the Jewish National Fund, which is doing a lot of good work in Israel to help with the fallout of October seventh. And my ex wife actually was recently in Israel working with the JNF planting trees and rebuilding kibotz's and getting schools back up and running. They do great work. So that's what I'm playing for. Fantastic well win or lose. We're happy to make a
donation to the Jewish National Fund in your name. And now it's time to meet your opponent from the mean streets of Peru, Indiana. He's also part of the Hoosier Hysterics podcast and he's got a film coming out that he wrote, directed and stars in. I helped out a little bit, but it's a movie called Invaders from Proxima B and it's coming out everywhere. It's been this odyssey for Ward and I to make this film and it's coming out May thirty first, going to be out on Voodoo. If you have that on
your smart TV. But they're they're kind of changing their name right now, so it's it might be Voodoo, but it might be Fandango at home. It's the same thing, Voodoo Fandango at home. Circle your calendars, save the day. May thirty first, our movie Invaders from Proximum V finally comes out. But here he is, folks, my pal, my brother Ward Roberts is here. I couldn't do it without you, guys. That's really without you, guys. I'm all I have is being on this podcast today.
And I probably wouldn't be on this podcast today if it wasn't for you, guys. Mike Dobe Modest, you produce the shit out of our movie, and you have a starring role in which you're magnificent per usual. Hey, I'm in the movie too. And Eric's voice. If you are really paying attention with your ears, Eric's voice pops in there for sure. I've never heard it. I've seen the movie a couple of times. I've never heard it, but I'm told I'm in it. Even in the trailer.
If you're really paying attention, you can catch a few syllables in the trailer. But yeah, you you guys, and these projects have been the last five plus six years of my life. So thank you both. And it's all led to this today. Can I say something about the movie if I may? Sure, Thank God, it's really freaking good. I mean, because you don't want to have a project from a friend that you're like, you gotta fake it, like you know, and look, I'll be honest.
WARN's made a bunch of movies. Not all of them are my favorite movies in the world. I'll be honest about that, Thanks Pal. But we've been We've were honest with each other. But Proxima Bee. I took my kids to see it. They saw an early cut of it. We went to the not premiere premiere in LA. The screening of it. My girlfriend loves it, all the kids love it. It's hilarious, it's clever,
it's awesome. It's an awesome movie. And thank god. I breathed a huge sigh of relief after seeing it, because I didn't want to have to fake bullshit around ward for like the next decade. Yeah, you have to give those like fake fake things of like, huh, you really did it? You do made a movie. You made a movie. So many people say they're going to make a movie, but you did no. It's
it's a hysterically smart, fun family movie. I absolutely love it. We love it too, and we're so excited to finally unleash it after this this long journey to get it out there. We're very excited again. May thirty first Invaders from Proxima be so Ward. You could follow him on social media as well at the Who's Your Hysterics? And you could follow the film at Invaders from Proxima B. And you can follow Ward just individually at Ward Roberts.
Mister Roberts, what charity are you playing for today? Saint Jude Sat Jude Children's Hospital been my favorite for a real long time. They do incredible work. Obviously, just sick children could not break my heart anymore than it does. And when families can't afford treatment for their kids being sick, I could not imagine a sadder, more hopeless feeling. Saint Jude has helped countless
childrens in their family at zero cost to the family. And beyond that, I think something that's overlooked a lot is the great research Saint Jude does. And they don't just use that for their own patients and families, but they share that research with the entire world basically just say, hey, we found this out, use it, create better treatments, better drugs, whatever we
possibly can do to help six children. So yeah, and it's you know, obviously it's rated super high, like eighty two cents of every dollar goes directly to the families, And it's got all the hallmarks of what you want from a great charity. Fantastics. We love Saint Judes and we're happy to make a donation in your name to Saint Jude's Children's Hospital, Win or lose. You know the two hoosiers that are here with me today, you know what great causes they are playing for. But it's time to get back to
the game. Go over our scores for a very interesting general knowledge round. There were eight questions in the round. Question number one was in what world city would you find Saint Mark's Basilica? Which I always find funny that there's just a Saint Mark. It just sounds not fancy at all. Saint Mark's Basilica, the Bridge of Size and the Grand Canal. Eric, what did you get for number one? Venice, Venice? Question Mark Ward Roberts, what did you put for number one? Also Venice. Yes, oh shit,
you both picked that one Venice and Venice. The correct answer is Venice, Italy boo one for one often really high. I only had to give the name of the city and not the country. Okay, moving on ah question number two. What twelfth president of the United States was nicknamed Old rough and Ready? I gave you a choice. Was it James K. Polk, Zachary Taylor, or Millard Fillmore? Ward? What did you put? You know what? I was pretty sure Pillmore didn't fall in the chronological order
of being twelve. I was like, I think it's poker Taylor and Polk. Just if he did anything rough and Ready, I never heard about it. I think Taylor was out there probably fighting in like the Midwest against you know, the indigenous people. Taylor, Taylor, you're going Taylor, Eric, What did you put for number two? Well? I wrote all three of them down and then scratched off two of them habby. One I did not scratch off was Taylor. So I have Zachary Taylor and Zachary Taylor.
Yeah, Old rough and Ready. I think he got his name for fighting indigenous people in the Second Seminole War, and that would be Zachary Old rough and ready, Taylor nice God, I was hoping to separate from the pack. There shot in the dark. There we each had a thirty three chance on that one. Question number three, What four teams faced off against each other in the most recent NCAA women's basketball Final four? It was a great
tournament, Eric, could you come up with four? All four? Yukon, South Carolina, Iowa, NC State got South Carolina, Iowa, Yukon and NC State board What did you put? I blew it on NC State, but I got South Carolina, Iowa, and Yukon. You would be correct, Eric, got all four of them. We got South Carolina four banker that beat Iowa in the final game. Then you had incredible Yukon and n the State were there. So Eric gets the whole point. I'll give
war to half point for almost getting there. I got, I got three fourths. I don't want to do three quarters of a that's gonna be a disaster. I suck at math, I agree, I agree, good manteo. I like nobody ask you. Nobody asked. Question number four. What actress portrayed Karen Cisco opposite George Clooney in the nineteen ninety nine film Out of Site Ward j Loo, j Lo, Jennifer Lopez, Eric, what did you put same? Yeah before Karen Cisco was a show. Yeah, based
on the Elmore Leonard novel. And I think it was like so early Soderberg movie. It was j Loo and out of Sight still holds up, still a fun movie with I forgot how many people were in that movie. So many? Uh? Question number five, Sonny is the mascot, the cartoon mascot for cocoa puffs. What type of animal is Sonny? Mister Pankowski rabbit, rabbit war? Do you agree with Eric? No, but I don't feel strongly that it's a monkey. But that's what I wrote down, So
we have a rabbit and a monkey. Sonny was always cuckoo for cocoa puffs. He's a cuckoo bird, cuckoo for cocoa puffs. I'm just thinking, well, it can't be a toucan because that's fruit loops. So I went away from birds completely. That's what you had in your mind, No harm, no foul. You both missed it. Question number six what very wealthy media mogul got his start as a stand up comedian and one of the hosts of the early eighties. I think it was seventy nine to eighty four NBC
show that I used to watch all the time, Real People. Did you come up with a name? Mister Roberts, I didn't. It's blank, blank slate, Tabila rasa, Eric, what do you put Byron Allen? Byron Allan, He's worth a lot of money. The correct answer is Byron Alan Nice. Nice, all Right. We were up to question number seven in the General Knowledge Round. The late great Dolores oh Riordan was the lead singer for what band? I gave you the hint. They were kind of
a nineties band that had multiple hits. Eric, what did you come up with? The Cranberry's Cranberry's ward? What did you put? He might be right, but I went with Cardigans. Ooh, the Cardigans both in the same neck of a nape. Yeah. She died way too young. She died I think in the last decade, but way too young. Dolores or
Riordan was for the Irish rock band the Cranberrys the Cranberryes. That answer deserves a huzzah damn Like, clearly my brain wanted the right answer, but then the other part of my brain came in and be like, no, it's close, but it's not right. We're gonna go with that one. Question number eight, can you name four of the six space shuttles? Ward Ernest Roberts, mister Space. Here we go. All right. We got the Challenger, we got Discovery, and then we went with the Avenger and the
Epicurean. Those both sound great. I wish, yeah, they wish they were names of ule. They need to rename some of these blame ones with those names. God bless All right, Eric, what did you put? I did put Discovery and Challenger. I put Columbia, and I put Apollo Columbia Columbia. That's right, all right, So here's what we're gonna do. We're gonna give Eric the full point and we're gonna give Ward a half point again. So now we're not gonna have any fractions. Let's go over
all of them. Yes, Enterprise was kind of the test shuttle. That's the one that they would put on the top of a plane and they'd let it fly and land so they could figure out is this thinking to land? Okay, So that was Enterprise, and then you have Atlantis, a Challenger, Columbia, Discovery, and then you have the one that's docked right here in Los Angeles. That's the Endeavor, the Endeavor, the one that's you can go see it in LA at that museum right near usc and the Natural
History Museum is the Endeavor. So Apollo is just what names of missions? Yeah, Apollo was the first mission. Yeah, the Moon missions, you heard them. After the third one you had Mercury was one, Gemini two, and then Apollo was the third, the third, the three manned missions. So it's like one dude Mercury, two dudes Gemini, three dudes Apollo. Great, I'll remember that so that on our return, Yes, yes, Tournament of Champions from the Tournament of Champions on the Tournament of Morons.
Yeah, and I will nail that. Yeah, Dinner for schmucks, we call it. It's a race to the bottom. We have our first scoreboard update after our general Knowledge round. We have ward Ernest Roberts with four points and Eric Pankowski with an impressive seven seven to four after one so shocking, shocking results. Shocking, all right, it's seven to four. Eric's got the lead for now as we head into round two, which is our pop
culture grab bag Round two. Pop Culture grab Bag Today. In the grab Bag, we're going to do a category all about the world of podcasts and podcast doors and podcasting podcast There's eight questions again in this round we're just writing stuff down again. Question number one of eight in the grab bag name the three hosts of the podcast SmartLess? Can you name the three famous hosts of the podcast SmartLess? For question number one? Question number two is name all
of the true crime podcasts? Kidding, I'm kidding, I'm kidding, we would all be dead. Question number two goes like this, what platform is the exclusive home for the hit podcasts the Joe Rogan Experience, Call her Daddy an Armchair Expert with Dax Shepherd. What platform has the exclusive deals with those three juggernauts in the podcast world? So I'm looking for the platform for number two for the Joe Rogan Experience Call her Daddy an Armchair Expert with Dax Shepherd.
Question number three, What Seinfeld alum has a podcast called Wiser than Me? Kind of narrows it down a little bit. What Seinfeld alum has their own podcast called Wiser than Me? Question mark give you the hint it is not the soup Nazi, all right? Question number four goes like this. Who is the founder and CEO of sports and pop culture website The Ringer that
hosts many podcasts, including his own? Question number four, Who is the founder and CEO of sports and pop culture website The Ringer that hosts many many podcasts, including his own? For question number four? Question number five, Back in twenty fourteen, Sarah Konig narrated season one of this podcast investigating the murder of an eighteen year old student, and still holds the record for most
downloaded podcast ever. So again, for question number five. Back in twenty fourteen, Sarah Konig narrated season one of this podcast, investigating the murder of the eighteen year old student of an eighteen year old student, still holds the record for most downloaded podcast ever. It's in the hundreds of millions of downloads, just like who's your Hysterics? No, I think we're right up there at that list, and you should know better. I think we're in the
top three. I think it's this one and then our two podcasts. Yeah, sure, round out the top three of all time. Question number six name either of the best selling authors that have popular podcasts. One's called revisionist History and the other one is called Against the Rules. Can you name either of the best selling authors that have their own popular podcasts. One's called Revisionist
History and the other one is called against the Rules. Now a little bit different than question six, Question seven, I'd like to get both of these answers to get the point. Name the hosts for the long running podcasts Fresh Air and This American Life? Can you name those two hosts that have been doing it for decades, the long running podcasts Fresh Air and This American Life? For question number seven. All right, and finally question number eight of
eight in your pop culture grab bag, we're talking podcasts today. Before they started Crooked media with hit shows like Pod Save America, Love It or Leave It? And Pod Save the World? Where did hosts Favre, Love It, Vtor and Fifer work? Where did they work before they started this big crooked media podcast empire. So, before they started crooked media with hit shows like Pod Save America, Love It or Leave It, and Pod Save the World? Where did hosts Favre, Love It, Vtor and Fifer work?
For question number eight? I know this one, Eric, do you? I don't know. I don't know, is the answer. I'll take it. I need any any break I can get at this point. Pencils down. Let's go over your answers for the pop culture grab bag we were talking podcasts. Question one of eight was named the three hosts of the podcast SmartLess that was just a juggernaut during the pandemic the Blue up Ward, what did
you get for number one? Bateman, Arnett and Hayes. Bateman, Arnett and Hayes, Eric, what did you put Jason, Will and Sean. Yes, we're going to give you points all across the board. It is Jason Bateman, Sean Hayes, and Will Arnett that are the hosts of SmartLess. Question number two, what platform is the exclusive home for hit podcasts the Joe Rogan Experience Call her Daddy, an armchair expert with Dax's shepherd. Eric, I'm going to answer with an asterisk? Okay, Spotify? Okay,
Spotify? Is your guests Ward? What did you put? No asterisk? Spotify? One of them has an asterisk, the other one does not. That's what I was going for Spotify. But I want to hear Eric's clarification here. The Joe Rogan Experience is no longer exclusive to Spotify. They allow it on the Apple platform. Oh okay, so it was. It wasn't exclusive for a while and they gave him two hundred million dollars. But as of right now, great caveat. We need to let our listeners know because
there's gonna be some that listen. They're like, Hey, he's not he's not just on the Dare I say extra credit? No, now you're grobbling. I might away extra credit. That would be fair. Yeah, but I was going for Spotify that paid out those huge sums of money to a few podcasts for their regarding it. Yeah. Yeah, And then they're like, and now we're contracting and of almost every other podcast, like Holy Smokes. Question number three, what Seinfeld alum has a podcast called Wiser than Me
Ward? You know, like something in me really wanted to answer Wayne Knight, but I figure it's got to be one of the main four. If it was Seinfeld, I think I would have heard of it. So it's a one in three shot here, And I just went with Jason Alexander because I feel like he'd like to talk more than the rest. Jason Alexander, George Costanza, Eric what did you put for number three? Julia Louis Dreyfus, Julia Louis Dreyfus, We have no Mike Richard's, no Seinfeld, no
Wayne Knight. One of you is correct, one of you is incorrect. The correct answer is Julia Louis A. Dreyfus. Haw's that podcast Wiser Than By Accident? I heard an episode by Accident by Accident, You son of a bitch. But I'll be honest with you. I'll be totally honest with you. I had no idea that was the name of the podcast. I just heard her do an interview with Jane Fonda, and it's great because I suggest going to get it because one it's Jane Fonda and Julia Louis Dreyfus talking,
which is awesome. But in the middle of it, Julie Weeed Dreyfus has like some kind of electrical storm at her house and the whole thing shuts off and she has to like come back and explain why the interview ended in the middle. It's hilarious. That's crazy, but it's a really good conversation between those two, you know, just legends of the screen. Yeah, it's called Wiser than Me. I'm going to check it out. But yeah,
it's Julia Luis Dreyfus for number three, question number four? Who is the founder and CEO of sports and pop culture website The Ringer that hosts many podcasts, including his own, Eric Bill Simmons, Bill Simmons Roberts. What did you get for number four? William Simmons, William or Bill Simmons? It is Bill Simmons for number For question number five? Back in twenty fourteen, Sarah Coene you see how do you say her name? I don't know? Is it Knig? I thought it was k Kanig? She said,
I think I screwed up all the time, so it is Ki. The wise chat bot is telling us it is k. Yes, Sarah Kanigg, apologies for screwing up your name when I read the question. Sarah Kenig Kanigg narrated season one of this podcast, Getting the Murder of an eighteen year old student still holds the record for the most downloaded podcast ever Ward Cereal Cereal, Eric Pankowski Cereal Cereal, and Cereal It is Cereal. We'll have any look up the downloads, like if you could find out, but I think it's
something crazy. It's like four hundred million downloads or something of that podcast three hundred and forty million. Chatbot said three hundred and forty million for the download on Cereal. Yeah, three hundred and forty million downloads of Cereal. Question number six, name either of the best selling authors that have popular podcasts. One's called Revisionist History and the others called Against the Rules? Eric, what did you come up with number six? I'm guessing here I went with Malcolm
Gladwell, Malcolm Gladwell, Ward, what did you put? I had the exact same guess Malcolm Gladwell and Malcolm Gladwell. Malcolm Gladwell does Revisionist Oh History under Pushkin Enterprises Pushkin Industries, which is his podcast ARM and then Against the Rules is hosted by the prolific Michael Lewis. Michael Lewis does that podcast Against the Rules. So Malcolm Gladwell Michael Lewis is what I was going for for
number six, but you both nailed it. And question number seven, can you name both hosts for the long running pods Fresh Air and This American Life? Ward? So for This American Life I had Ira Glass and for the other one I had Melissa Ira Glass and then just Melissa. Eric, what did you want for number seven, I put Ira Glass. That did come to me? I'm Ira Glass. This is American life. I think it is. I think her name is Terry. I think that sounds right to
me. Yep, but I don't have the last name Melissa. And then Terry Cross. Oh, I think that is it. I think I think that is it. I think that could be it. Is it Terry Gross? Is it Terry Gross? I'm not sure you got Ira Glass. You both got Ira Glass, and it is Terry Gross. So this is what we'll do. Well, what are we going to do here? We'll do one and a half points for Ward and a full point for Eric. So like Ward gets a half point for pulling Gross out of his buttthole at the
last second after I gave him Terry. You had nothing until I gave you Gross. I got a guy or a girl's name you didn't even know. I said, Terry, are your brain's rotten? I said, Terry, Yeah, but like Terry boy, Terry girl, Terry Gross. You just said I had nothing till you said Gross, I gave you the first name. He wasn't going to give you any extra points for Terry. That's probably
true. This is all subjective to the way I grade your papers. I want to give a shout out to my brother Russell that always called it a gross there with Terry Fresh but it is Terry Gross from Fresh Air and Ira Glass from This American Life. And finally, question number eight before lobbing a formal protest on the skyest Yes, it's already been logged with our headquarters that
this game is under protest. Question number eight, before they started crooked media with hit shows like Podsave America, Love It or Leave It, Pod Save the World, where did hosts Favre, Love It, Vitor and Peiffer work? Eric? What did you put for number eight? The White House in it? What are you going to catch up with them? When he keeps getting lucky with these guesses? What did you put the White House? And
for bonus points the Obama Obama administration. The correct answer was they all did work for the Obama administration, So if you put that or the White House or the Executive Branch or whatnot plus five. Though for me forgetting the Obama Park, you got got a point e. We still got a great game. At halftime, it is Ward Roberts with eleven and a half points. Eric Pankowski with fifteen points. It's fifteen to eleven and a half at halftime. I don't mind losing. I mind losing to Eric. Yes, it
is fifteen to eleven and a half at halftime. We're here with Eric Pankowski. You can follow him on social media at Hoosier Hysterics. That's at Hoosier h y St RCS. He's playing for the Jewish National Fund. And we're here with Ward Ernest Roberts. You could follow him at Ward Roberts and he's playing for Saint Jude's Children's Hospital. Holy Cow. We're entering round three, which is the dreaded round three, the lightning round, lightning round ward.
You are trailing at this moment, so you can be the first one to choose from these three headings, which have nothing to do with the questions nor the answers. But we're both Hoosiers from Bloomington, Indiana. We all on to that great university, so we could choose from three of our favorite haunts.
Back in the day, you could choose either Bear's Place, the Bluebird, or Nick's English Hut where you would sink the Bismarck ward name your poison, shout out Bears did so much karaoke at Bears shout out Nick's English Hut. That's where we go to these days when we go back. But you know, hey, love of my life, watch you're on the stage of the blue Bird. Some of the fondest memories of my life are from the Bluebird. We're going to the Bluebird. Blue Bird one of the greatest music
venues of all time. So your Bluebird question goes like this. I'm gonna say it twice. I'm gonna say, Oh, You're gonna have twenty seconds to say as many answers as possible. Eric, write some answers down because I'm coming straight to you with your five second rebuttal, here is your Bluebird Lightning Round question. I want the nine longest running musicals in Broadway history.
The nine longest running musicals in Broadway history, twenty seconds on the clock and Ago, Cats Lay, Miss, Phantom, Oklahoma, Hamilton, Wicked, Uh, Sweeney Todd, Cat's Phantom, Sweeney Todd. What else haven't I hit? Rent? Rent? It's not gonna be anything goes Uh South Pacific Lady stop stop stop stop? You got four You got the longest running one is Phantom still the longest running one is Phantom, and you got number four Wicked, number five Cats, and number six lay miss you did great.
You got four uh, the longest running musicals, your five second rebuttal Eric to see if you can steal any five seconds on the clock, nine longest running musicals in Broadway history, five seconds and ago, Miss Saigon, Carousel, Chicago, Cabaret, a Vita into the Woods. I think think you got one for sure. You said Chicago, which is number two? What were the other ones? You said, Miss Saigon, Carousel, Cabaret, Chicago, Avita into the Woods. Okay, so you got number two,
so you stole one. It was it was Chicago. So let's go over the ones we didn't get to. You named a bunch of great musicals, all of you. You were all around it. A bunch of these that you mentioned were from like ten through seventeen. Number three, The Lion King, the Lion King's number three of all time. Number seven a chorus line, a chorus line, and then number eight was like I was like, if you guys would have said this, I would have probably given you like
ten points. Was oh Calcutta, Wowran I think it was like previous it was seventies or eighties. It ran for a long time, and then number nine surprised me a little bit too. Mama Mia, Mama Mia. The musical is in the top nine already, but you did very well in the bluebird question. Eric, it's your turn in the barrel. You could choose either Bear's Place or Knicks English hut. I'm going next. I'm going next, going next, So Bear's Place. We'll just go into the hopper for

They make their way around the city in order to find their friend before his wedding. Again for question number four from two thousand and nine, three buddies wake up from a bachelor party in Las Vegas,
with no memory of their previous night, the bachelor missing. They make their way around the city order to find their friend before his wedding, and on to question number five. This is from nineteen eighty one. Nineteen eighty one is the year as Allied POWs prepare for a soccer game against their German national team to be played in Nazi occupied Paris, the French resistance and British
officers are making plans for the team's escape. Again, this is from nineteen eighty one, As Allied POWs prepare for a soccer game against the German national team to be played in Nazi occupied Paris, the French resistance and British officers are making plans for the team's escape. Name that film and the most famous athlete from that film for question number five. Question number six a more recent
film. Question number six is from twenty eighteen. Debbie Ocean gathers an all female crew to attempt an impossible heist at New York City's annual met Gala. There was actually a bunch of athletes in this one, so you can almost guess and maybe maybe get one right here again for question number six. Twenty eighteen, Debbie Ocean gathers an all female crew to attempt an impossible heist at New York City's annual met Gala named the film and an athlete for question number
six, Where were we? Question seven? Yeah, here we go, Lucky number sleven, That is not the answer. Question number seven came out all the way back in nineteen sixty seven. Nineteen sixty seven was the year. During World War II, A rebellious US Army major is assigned twelve convicted murderers to train and lead them into a mass assassination mission of German officers. Again for question number seven, This film came out in nineteen sixty seven.
During World War II, A rebellious US Army major has assigned twelve convicted murderers to train and lead them into a mass assassination mission of German officers. And then there were three. It comes down to these three questions. Question number eight came out in nineteen eighty seven. A bed ridden Boy's grandfather reads him the story of a farm boy turned pirate who encounters numerous obstacles, enemies and allies, and his quest to be reunited with his true love. Ah question
number eight. This came out in nineteen eighty seven. Bed ridden Boy's grandfather reads him the story of a farm boy turned pirate who encounters numerous obstacles, enemies and allies, and his quest to be reunited with his true love. You got a real chance to catch up here. I'm just saying, well, if that's the case, then I'm probably blowing it. Ah, all right, here we go. Question number nine came out nineteen ninety eight.
Nineteen ninety eight was the year a man gets a chance to meet up with his dream girl from high school even though his date with her back then was a complete disaster. It's a weird synopsis. I might have to give you a hint on this one because it's so weird. Nineteen ninety eight A man, I will say, it's a very funny comedic actor that has had his own show on Fox. A man gets a chance to meet up with his dreamgirl from high school, even though his date with her back then was a
complete disaster. And by disaster, it's it's one of those like gross out funny things that we all saw and were like, holy smokes. It's a memorable scene. All right, we have arrived at your final question in this round. Athletes in film in the Double Duty. This movie came out nineteen eighty eight. Incompetent Police Detective Frank Drebin must foil an attempt to assassinate Queen Elizabeth. I'm sad to be doing it today, Really sad, really again,
Number ten, nineteen eighty eight. Incompetent Police Detective Frank Drebn must foil an attempt to assassinate Queen Elizabeth the second. All right, pencils down, let's go over your answers. In a chock full Double duty. We had ten questions in the Double Duty today. It was athletes in film. You get a point a piece for naming the film and the athlete in that film.
Question number one was for nineteen eighty After the crew becomes sick with food poisoning, a neurotic ex fighter pilot must safely land a commercial jet full of passengers. Eric, what did you get for number one? Airplane? You like Gladiator movies and Kareem abdul Jabbar airplane and Kareem abdul Jabbar. Ward, what did you put the same airplane and Kareem abdul Jabbar it is airplane and Kareem abdul Jabbar Two points apiece for you boys for question number one. Question
number two is nineteen seventy four. In order to ruin a western town, a corrupt politician appoints a black sheriff who promptly becomes his most formidable adversary. Ward Roberts is blazing Saddles. I could not think of the athlete, so I just was like, who's around then that maybe mel Brooks would have thrown in there, and I went with George the animal Steel, Yes, blazing saddles and George animal Steel. Eric Pankowski, what did you put? I
put blazing saddles the athlete. I was conflating the guy from the you're saying with I believe Webster. Oh yeah, Harris, I think is his like with a K, George George Carris from Webster George. I don't think it's George. No, I don't think it's George Alex Alex Carris. That's it. He got it, all right? Are you going to say that you got that without any help from anybody on this one? So we're gonna give you each a point. I don't think Eric, I don't think you need
the extra point, even though you pretty much had it. It is blazing Saddles, And it was the gentleman that played George Poppadopolis on Webster. Yes, yes, yeah, yeah, I think he earned at least half for a Caros. But yeah, we'll give Eric two points. Ward one point because it was Blazing Saddles and it was the guy that played Mango Candy Gram from Mango. That was Alex Carris. He like punches a horse. It's one of the crazy knocks the horse out. Yeah, Alex Carris is his
name from Blazing Saddles. Question number three was from nineteen ninety eight. Basketball player's father must try to convince him to go to a college so he can get a shorter sentence. Eric, Again, I feel like I'm conflating here. Was Denzel Washington in this movie? Possibly? Well again, that doesn't help me because I'm not sure Denzel is in the movie. I'm about to mention. I put he got Game with Ray Allen. He got Game Ray Allen. Ward, what did you put for number three? I put for
the Love of the Game with Ray Allen. Yes, that deserves a splooshe. I think for the Love of the Game as like a base baseball costner or something. Yeah, it is Ray Allen and he got Game. Yes, he plays the character Jesus shuttles Worth or shuttles Worth. I never saw it, the Spike Lee joint he got game, Ray Allen, Yeah, and Denzel Denzel. I honestly couldn't remember if Denzel was with what I had like a mental block. I was, Yeah, that's great, let's keep
moving. It's been the most fun I've had in a long time. Guys. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah yeah. Question number four from two thousand and nine, Three buddies wake up from a bachelor party in Las Vegas. Blah blah blah. Can't you name the film and the athlete Ward Roberts. Yeah, the Hangover with Mike Tyson. Hangover with Mike Tyson, Eric, same thing, same thing. That was the layup. That was a
layup in this round, it is the Hangover Mike Tyson. Question number five nineteen eighty one a little deeper cut as Allied POW's prepare for a soccer game against the German national team to be played in Nazi occupied Paris. The French resistance and British officers are making plans for the teams escape. Eric, do you got anything for question five? No? Was Hogan's Heroes a movie? I don't know, it's got nothing. I got nothing. What do you
got for number five. I'm virtually one hundred percent shirt and certain this was a submarine movie, but because it was soccer and German related, I put dos Boot Yes. And for the athlete I thought also appropriate to the time was bjorn Borg. Bjorn Borg and dos Boot. I'm gonna give you a point for doss boot because that's fucking hilarious to me. Just let me have it, Eric Y, let me have it. When did this turn into whose line? Is it? Anyway? What's going on here? Bjornborg is
not right? No, that part I was confident in. It's actually a great film. Uh, Sylvester Stallone is in this film, Michael Kaine. Michael Kaine is in this film. Nice. The film is called Victory, and it stars a ton of professional soccer players, including Pele. Pele is in the film, And it's actually a great kind of World War two sports. Still just ranked down Pelee. He's literally like the only soccer person I
know exactly. I thought you guys would put it just yeah, from that era nineteen eighty one, you really overestimated the intelligence level of your two contestants today. But I do recommend this film Victory nineteen eighty one with Pele, Michael Kain and Sylvester Stallon, and stallone is like the worst part of the film. He's He's not good. Question number six is from twenty eighteen DeBie Ocean gathers an all female crew to attempt an impossible heightst at New York City's
annual met Gala. Ward, what did you put Ocean's thirteen? And I put, because she's real famous Serena Williams Ocean's thirteen, And Serena Williams, Eric, what did you put? It's Oceans eight? First of all, it ain't Oceans thirteen. That was the Al Pacino sequel to the Ocean's franchise. Okay, Greg, great, just drag it out longer. And as far as the athlete, I put Sandra Bullock. She used to be a big field hockey player. She was a huge field hockey player in semi pro
leagues in southern Nevada in the late eighties. Oh my god, you guys are getting a point a piece. The correct title is Ocean's eight. That is the all female cast. Serena Williams was one of the athletes in that film. Here are some other ones. Another tennis star Maria Sharapova is in that film. Sure, John McEnroe is in that film. And for whatever reason, like at the time Jets Center, Nick Mangold shows up, which I found very hilarious that he is in that. That's great. In that
film. Question number seven nineteen sixty seven. During World War Two, a rebellious US Army major is assigned twelve convicted murderers to train and lead them into
a mass assassination mission of German officers. Eric. I had two choices for the movie because you said twelve, so I went it could have been twelve angry men, which I'm pretty sure is a courtroom movie, or Dirty Dozen, And I went with Dirty Dozen. And I don't have the slightest idea what athlete, but I'll just go ahead and say, Haley, ah, he's everywhere. What a story? Back then ward, what did you put?
It was The Dirty Dozen with Jim Brown. It is the Dirty Dozen with Jim Brown, who was one of the first movies he did after he quit football. Yeah, the Dirty Dozen with Jim Brown for number seven. Question number eight was from eighty seven. A bedridden boy's grandfather reads him the story of a farm boy turned pirate. Blah, blah blah, true love, Ward, what do you got? Princess Bride with Andre the Giant, Princess Brian with Andrea the Giant. Eric, what do you got? Oh,
that's the correct answer. Yes, I had this same thing. It is the Princess Bride where he's wearing a Bears jersey as he's getting told that story in bed Chicago Bears Jersey. There is the Princess Bride with the Great Andre the Giant. Question number nine is from ninety eight. A man gets a chance to meet up with his dream girl from high school, even though his date with her back then was a complete disaster. Eric, it came to you. I think it came to both of us at the same time,
or roughly, something about Mary and Brett Favre Fro. Yeah, Award, what did you put? I put the same thing? It is there something about Mary? We have a bleeder, We got a bleeder, Franks and beans, Franks and Franks and beans, Franks and beans. And it was late in the game you find out that Brett that you've been hearing about
all movie is Brett Favre. Brett Favre from number nine. Question number ten, nineteen eighty eight incompetent police detective Frank Dreben must foil an attempt to assassinate Queen Elizabeth. The second ward was The Naked Gun, starring the notorious and now late O J. Simpson, O J. Simpson, O J. Simpson and the Naked Gun. Eric, what did you put? Naked gun? And audios? SoJ audios OJ. You could have also said Reggie Jackson. Oh, you're right. Just you could have said Jim Palmer. You
could have said Tim McCarver. There's like a bunch of broadcasters that were former athletes as well. Do you have accepted a naked gun and Enrico Palazzo? Yes, I would have accepted en Rico Palazzo. One of the greatest scenes of all times. It is the Naked Gun, And I think most people would say Oreenthal, James Simpson, O J. Simpson, but Reggie Jackson I think would be a close second. We are tabulating our scores right now.
Here's your final score ward. You did very well in that round thirty two and a half points, but you can not catch the juggernaut that was Eric Pankowski tonight with an insane thirty eight points. I want an immediate rematch like now. I just want to make sure that this will air like it will be out there in the world so I can direct people to listen to me destroy Ward in trivia. I have to tell you this is personally gratifying for so many reasons, not the least this isn't the Emmys. You don't
give it an accepted speech. Let's just keep the game going. Sorry, I thought it was Eric Pankowski. You are the smartest person in the world. For one week. Check out their hilarious Who's Your Hysterics podcast? Jens, That was fantastic. That was super fun to hang out with you guys for a little bit of time. But the show is not over. It's time for the final throwdown, the final throwdown. This is where Annie, our producer, going to come
back in here with our final throwdown question. I'll read it to the world twice. We could have a little discussion or two, come up with some answers, and then we're gonna all learn a little something something before all is through. So Annie, if you are ready, put up the final throwdown question. Here we go. In what real Midwest city was the Superman comic book imagined? Don't say, don't say yet? So in what real mid West city was the Superman comic book imagined? Discuss gentlemen, you seem very
hot to try Ward knows it? I want to say in Iowa? Am I wrong? You are wrong? Yeah? Okay? Then I got no idea, Uh Chicago, I don't know. I mean, I guess there's some clarity that needs to be here in terms of like where did the creator of Superman come up with Superman? That's how I'm taking it as opposed to like where Superman landed? But also wasn't Metropolis part of it too? Well?
That's where he ends up, but he lands and he's raised. But what was the supermanall What does it mean that the Superman comic book was imagined? Like you think that's smallvill No, I think this is where the creator of Superman was living and came up with it. This is That's how I understood it. But it's also because yeah, was he banking it on where he grew up or a town that he knows of? Because yeah, again I'm not a comic book guy at all or a superhero person at all.
But yeah, it's like Smallville. Is that is that in Nebraska? Is that like kind of where it supposedly is? Or when he first lands he lands in Nebraska or Kansas or something like that? Am I conflating the Wizard of Oz and Superman? I mean, if you're really asking me, I do believe Smallville. Smallville is supposed to be in Iowa. I don't know if I'm mixing that up with Captain Kirk because he's confused. I thought Straton
Kirk's definitely from Iowa. I think Smallville is specifically Iowa. But I could I could tell you the city I'm pretty sure is the answer whenever you're ready? Is it not Cleveland? It is Cleveland? Sheboygan? Sheboygan, Wisconsin All right. Cleveland was my second guest. But you knew this right away. So that's where what's his name is from? And this is ten points for me if I get it right. Yes, sure, okay, yeah, Cleveland? Uh and yeah, what whatever the creator's name is. I
don't think I'm going to come up with that. All right, all right, what's the answer? Ward? What are we going with? I'm going with Cleveland, Cleveland, Cleveland, Ohio, oh Io. Annie, let us off the hook reveal the answer. We're all going to learn a little bit about the Superman. Oh yeah, and Cleveland. Let's learn about this. Jerry Siegel and Joe Schuster met at Glenville High School and etched out early comic strips as teenagers. Superman was initially a villain, but then was revamped
as a good guy with an alien backstory. Siegel and Schuster sold the initial rights for a mere one hundred and thirty smackrows one hundred and thirty bucks. Oh my gosh. In the spring of nineteen thirty nine, Superman hit the stands at number one, and the seventies movie spurs Siegel and Shuster to get their fair claim back, and DC paid them twenty grand a year at least
gave him something. But still like if they would have held on to that for a little bit, it could have been a little richer than twenty grand a year. But yeah, you guys nailed the final throwdown. It was Cleveland gents and fellow Hoosiers and brothers, it was. It was a pleasure to have you on the show. We're happy to make those donations to those two wonderful charities. Continued good health, many successes with the podcast, and
here's to our film doing some good stuff too. That we're all in May thirty first invaders from Proxim up B. Before we go, could you just repeat the scores and make sure everybody knows who got what. Well, when you go ahead and you add my bonus ten points at the end, that means I won forty two and a half to thirty eight. I think that the rules of the game are that because you lost, you weren't really participating in round four. Well we'll call it a tie. I don't think so.
