But as right now, let's jump right into some cues and a's with our first four rounds today, Round one General Knowledge, Thinking caps on, jents, pencils at there ready, head away we go.
There are eight questions in the general Knowledge round. Here isquestion number one. According to the old jingle about Lizzie Borden, how many total whacks did she give her parents? That old sing songy jingle. According to the old jingle about Lizzie Borden, how many total whacks did she give her her parents? Her parental units? For question number one, I was told there would be no math yep. This is bullshit already bad start? How do we feel
after one? I would say my level of confidence in the answer is somewhere between okay and not okay, somewhere between those. I'm very confident in my skill to pluck a random number out of the air and pray that it's right. Go with it, Go with it. It wasn't a popular schoolyard chant when I was in school, No, probably one hundred years before us. But you know what, it might have hung around some of the teachers. Maybe we're still saying it. Yeah. Question number two a little bit of
a sports question here. Can you name any of the three NFL teams where their name is in their logo? The actual name is written in the logo. There's three teams in the NFL that have that. Can you name one of them? For question number two? You know, I'm a baseball guy, not really a football guy. But my wife is a huge football fan. So Sunday's in our home now for you know, seventeen eighteen weeks of the year are all about football. But I follow along with the games like
she follows along. When I'm you know, rewatching the hunt for out October for the four hundredth time, mostly on her phone casually looks up from time. That's about how I follow the football. Soak it. Taking a shot here, taking a shot? Question number three, A little bit of literature this year in twenty twenty three got the Pulitzer Prize winner for fiction, Demon Copperhead. It's been all on the bestseller list for the last year year and
a half was written by what Woman. What Woman last name Will Suffice wrote the book Demon Copperhead. She also wrote the Poison Wood Bible. I believe can you name that author? For question number three, I'll repeat it again. The twenty twenty three Pulitzer Prize winner for fiction, Demon Copperhead, was written by What Woman. She also wrote the Poison Wood Bible, amongst others. For question number three, how do you feel about your answering that one?
Jen, I'm certain that I am wrong. I am one certain that is an incorrect answer on my page here, great A. We can't know everything, Jans. We can't know everything. We're supposed to learn some stuff as we go along. Which number four will stick around in our solar system? What planet recently regained its crown as the one in our solar system with
the most moons. It has one hundred and forty five moons, now, I guess, and it was the discovery was pretty hilarious and that it wasn't like, oh, they discovered one more, They discovered like sixty plus new moons. A lot of moons. Yeah, So what planet recently regained its crown? It's gone back and forth with another planet as the one in our solar system with the most moons with one hundred and forty five. Man Earth, you stink you have one moon? Are we sure that none of them
are space stations? Exactly? That's true. That's that's the question UAPs. Question number five is your movie question in the General Knowledge round In the film caddy Shack, can you name both the name of the country club as well as the name of Ted knights very memorable character? For question number five in the film Caddyshack, and you name both the name of the country club as well as the name of Ted Knight's very memorable character. Here we go.
Question number six. What European nation has over two hundred and sixty thousand islands, even though less than one thousand are inhabited, But it's got just a bajillion the most quite a bit on the planet. What European nation has over two hundred and sixty thousand islands? For question number six, I always thought Indonesia was like number one, and it's not. It's down the ways a
bit. Let's do some history for your penultimate question in the General Knowledge round, question number seven, what woman an activist was the first to lie in honor at the Capitol rotunda when she passed away at the age of ninety ten two back in two thousand and five. So a very famous activist woman was the first to lie in honor at the Capitol rotunda when she passed away at the age of ninety two back in two thousand and five? Can you name
that famous woman? All right? This one? These are my least favorite questions, but it's kind of a coin flip. For question number eight, which of your lungs is usually a bit smaller the right or the left? Which of your lungs is usually a little bit smaller than the other one the right or the left? For question number eight, well, pencils down. We will go over our answers in just a few seconds. But it's time to meet our wonderful guest today born in Chicago, Illinois, but raised in
Fort Lee, New Jersey. You know him from Freaks and Gates and Inglorious Bastards. He's got a new streaming series on two be coming out called under Developed. My pal Sam Levine is here today. Oo Hey, thanks Mike. What a lovely intro. I need to keep you around when I do other things because they really ruin it sometimes. Oh good, mister Sam. What awesome charity are you playing for today? So it's a little worridy, but I'm playing for a charity called Big Slick, which all the money that
Big Slick raises specifically goes towards Children's Mercy Hospital of Kansas City. It is a wonderful organization and once a year, Big Slick does a big, big, big show, a whole weekend of events really in Kansas City. And I'm fortunate enough to have gotten to participate in it now for the last ooh
boy, thirteen years, wow, I think. And it's started by five guys who are all from the Kansas City area, Eric stone Street, Rob Wriggle, Jason Sedeikis, David Keckner and Paul Rudd, and they have since added Kansas City's own Heidi Gardner as one of the hosts of this wonderful charitable weekend, and we do an event with the Royals. We do a big show at the Sprint Center whatever it's called now, the big theater down there, and a bunch of the Kansas City chiefs will come out and we'll do
auction items and fun goofy show stuff. And every year we do it, they we somehow manage to raise a couple million dollars over the course of a weekend for Children's Mercy. But let me tell you about Children's Mercy real quick, because it is, in my humble opinion, one of the most noble things I've ever heard of. They will treat pediatric cancer free of charge. They it is the most unthinkable thing if you are a parent or no a child who is dealing with cancer, to think about the added cost in our
wonderful country that might be associated with that. And they say, you've got enough to worry about. Come here. We will make it work for you in whatever way you can make it work. So every year when we do the weekend, we always go to the hospital, We visit with the kids and their families. We get to meet some of the wonderful nurses and staff who work at this hospital. And let me tell you, these people are all walking around with little wings because they are absolute angels. They are amazing
people. And obviously this can only work with big you know, philanthropic funding, and so that's what Big Slick does and it's an honor for me to get to do that fun weekend with them and throughout the year hopefully pick up some additional funds as well. That is tremendous. We'll win or lose here, good sir, We are happy to make a donation in your name to the Big Slick in Kansas City. That's Children's Mercy Hospital of Kansas City helping
out all those kids dealing with pediatric cancers. Oh, unbelievable. It's time now to meet your wonderful pal and opponent for the day from North Little Rock, Arkansas. This guy you can check him on YouTube at dan Merle Movies. He does awesome reviews, box office stuff, movie news. There he is Dan Merle is here today. Hello there. Oh, I'm so happy. I love trivia. I have a little bit. Last time Sam played me in trivia, he kicked my ass and thoroughly so it was a very
specific you know the match, Yes, exactly, it's a rematch. That's fantastic. Dan. What charity are you playing for today? It's actually a local charity here. It's called the THEA Foundation. It's named after a young woman named Theliopolis who sadly passed away several years ago. She was just a wonderful, bright, shining star to her friends, to people in the community. She was a year younger than me in school, but you know, one of those people that everybody knew who she was, and also was a
burgeoning artist and was really beginning to unlock that potential. And you know, if you read the testimonial from her family and her loved ones, they said
that she was just blossoming as she uncovered this love for art. And so what the THEA Foundation does is use the wonderfully generous donations that people make to help foster that, to provide scholarships and art programs, and to encourage artists here locally and teams who are finding that potential inside themselves to be able to embrace that and to give them the capability and the resources to do that.
And you know, as somebody who we went to the same high school, we were very lucky to have a high school that was very art focused and art centric and had a great drama program and a lot of great things. And you know, not every school and a place in the country is that lucky, and not every kid is that lucky, and so this is a way to help them unlock that. If those resources are not available elsewhere, that is just beautiful. Support the arts folks again and win or lose.
We're happy to make a donation in your name to the THEA Foundation. You can follow Dan Murle on social media. He's at Merle Dan on Instagram and check him out again on Dan Murle Movies on YouTube. And then mister Sam Levine you could follow him at Sam with two ms Levine on all the Things. Yep, you know our contestants, you know about the beautiful charities they're
playing for. But now it's time to get back to brass tax and go of our answers for round one seemed like a fairly challenging general knowledge round. We were all over the map on this one. Yeah, you were. Question number one. According to the old jingle about Lizzie Borden who took an axe, how many total whacks did she give her parents? Sam Levine, what did you come up with for number one? I said forty lashes? Forty lashes? Great guests, Dan, what did you put for number one?
It was between forty and fifty, and I said fifty, forty and fifty these are great? What should be forty five or thirty? Old? The old jingle goes, Lizzie Borden took an axe and gave her mother forty wax, and once she saw what she had done, she gave her father forty one. So it's eighty one wax total. Do I get partial credit for at least remembering forty wax? I've seen you give out half points before you're groveling from the jump. But Dan's played with me before. He knows
how I roll. Yeah, no point left unturned, no point, no point. You know what. I don't want it. I don't want it. I was wrong. I don't want the points you got too biblical for me with lashes instead of wax. So I can't take a half point away from point away fair tough but fair, no harm, no foul. It's eighty one wax total. Now we know forever and ever? All right?
Question number two, your sports question? Can you name any of the three NFL teams where their name is actually inside the logo, Dan, what did you get for number two? I know this only applies to the Giants, but I use it with every team from New York? I said, the New York Football Jets, j E T S Jets, j E T S Jets, Jets, Jets, Sam, what did you put for number two? I also said, the j E T S Jets, Jets Jets. Holy smokes, you both would be correct. There's Jets right there in the
logo. The other two in the little circle in Pittsburgh. The Steelers. It just says Steelers with those three little colored diamonds. And then the team that's moved around a bunch of cities, the Raiders, the Las Vegas Raiders, says Raiders, just in that little crest with their Raider. You see Raiders inside that logo. But you got it with Jets. Well done, both off the Schneid, feeling good right. Question number three what twenty twenty
three pull up surprise winner for fiction? Demon Copperhead was written by what woman who also wrote The Poison Wood Bible? Sam Levine? Of course you said last name only, and the great author smythe smithe Smith or smythe that's fine with y s M y t H. Mister Merle, what did you get for number three? Well, you know, I figured, having no clue what the answer was. She's a she's a bond vivant and a person. I'm a man of pop culture. I'm not a man of culture, so
I said till the Swinton. Yes, that answer deserves a splosh, because why not? Why not? You know what, There's nothing she can't do. She can do everything everything, and I will pay to see her do it. Uh. This woman's got an excellent name. Her name is Barbara King Solver. King Solver what wrote Demon Copperhead? If you look at any of the Yeah, her career is not based on solving regicide exactly exactly what
it should be. She's she's only written like one hundred books. Instead, Get to Work, Abs, Get to work show that everybody tells me to watch and that I never will. It's like, you haven't watched King sOliver yet. Yeah, that's a good show. Where's the time I have? I have seasons thirty episodes? I have heard that that book, though, Demon Copperhead is kind of a take on Dickens's David Copperfield is to be very excellent. It's been, you know, a best seller for the last couple
of years, and everyone says it's pretty damn great. Question number four, what planet recently regained its crown? Is the one in our solar system with the most moons, with one hundred and forty five as they discovered supposedly sixty plus new moons, Dan, what planet did you pick? Well, I'm old, and so I fell back on the knowledge that I learned in school and just assumed it has gone back to what I was taught, and said that it's Jupiter. Excellent, Jupiter. Great guest, Sam, what did
you put? Well, I too, knowing what I'd learned as a kid is that boys are from Jupiter to get more stupider. So I also said Jupiter. The correct answer. You're both very close. They've been back and forth with Jupiter. I think they've found him inside a lot of the rings or whatnot. At Saturn. Saturn dam is the king Sault of planets. You were also stuck between Jupiter and Saturn, right Uranus? Obviously, how dare you? We had to we had to fit that in judge it.
Yes, we can't fit in Uranus maybe my favorite question of the round. In the film Caddy Shack, can you name both the name of the country club as well as the name of Ted Knight's very memorable character, Sam, what did you get for number five? I'm embarrassed for as great as a film as that is, it's been way too long since I've actively watched it and really paid attention. And I knew you weren't gonna let me just get away with writing Judge, so I went with Judge Smalls and the Golden Sands,
Golden Sands and Judge Smalls. Dan, what did you put for number five? I blanked on the country club name. I said Cottonwood. But I believe that I correctly remembered Ted Knight's name because I think it's Judge Smales. Oh, Judge Smalls or Judge Smalls. What I didn't know is that he has a first name. And I'll give that to you, which blew my mind because it's pretty remarkable. It is Judge Eli, who smales, Ali who Smales. I'll give Dan one point. I will give Sam a
half point for being very close Smalls the country club. There is no there's no gambling at Bushwood. Bushwood DC. Bushwood CC is where all the action takes place in caddy shack. Now we'll never forget Bushwood and judge Eli who smales God bless it? Question number six, What European nation has over two hundred and sixty thousand islands even though less than one thousand are inhabited? Dan.
I remember looking at a map and saying, there's lots of little things hanging around the bottom of Greece. So I just said, Greece, Greece, great, great Gus, Sam, what did you put? I went north with it, figuring maybe these are broken up islands up close towards the you know, the Arctic Ocean. So I'm probably wrong, but I went with Finland. Finland, damn. Great guess is Sam is really effing close.
It's the neighbor to Finland. It's between Norway and Sweden. Sweden has eked out and has more islands, but Norway and Sweden are kind of the top two on the planet. There's like a tiny tiny islands all over the place for Sweden and Norway, but Sweden is the champ. I neglected Scandinavia entirely. I didn't even enter my my thinking Greece is a great guest, though, because there are a shit ton of islands, a lot of them
in the Mediterranean. There and the Aegean question number seven, what woman was the first to lie in honor at the capitol rotunda when she passed away at the age of ninety two? Back in two thousand and five, Sam, I went with the legendary Rosa Parks, Rosa Parks, Dan, what did you put? For number seven? I also went with the wonderful Rosa Parks, You too would be corrective Rosa Parks for number seven. And then our fifty to fifty question, question number eight, Which of your lungs is usually
a tad bit smaller? Dan? So I figured it's near the heart, so maybe it has to be a little smaller for the heart to be near it. So I went with the left lung, the left lung, Sam, do you agree? Did you go your own way? I did also agree with the left lung. Right there, Dan nailed it perfectly. To make a little bit room for the heart. That's a little bit more to the left, it is. Your left lung is a little bit smaller.
Excellently done. We're tabulating the scores here, Oh my God, we have a Barnburner Sam Levine with three and a half points and Dan Murle with four. It's four to three and a half. We don't have it any long way, so yes, it is a half point lead for Dan Murle over Sam Levine after one. As we head into ren two pop culture grab Bag Today, in the old grab bag, we're talking TV. These are all questions about peak TV or the latest golden era of television, So these are
mostly questions about great television shows from the past twenty plus years. Here we go, question number one of eight. Who portrayed the incredible character of Adriana le Cerva on the hit HBO series The Sopranos. Who played Adriana Christopher Molta, Santi's girlfriend on The Sopranos, Very memorable, incredible job? Name that actress who portrayed Adriana la Serva on The Sopranos for question number one. things today, including how stupid I am. If we're only in the middle around two, Yeah, all right, let's see if we can get back on the trolley. With question number four, Joffrey, Robert and Stanis are heads of what Game of Thrones house? The house of what? From Game of Thrones? Jeoffrey, Robert and Stanis are heads of what Game of Thrones house? For question number four house, what did you both watch that program?
Indeed, all right, feeling good. Question number five staying on that same channel, HBO slash Max. That's still hard to get used to. Question number five goes a little bit like this on Veep, can you name the actress that plays Selena Myers chief of staff Amy Brookheimer? I think a couple different stints as being Selena Myers chief of staff Amy Brookheimer named that hilarious actress that was on Veep. For question number five, this is peak TV.
I have to say, these are all trying to pick the big ones. Yeah, there's not a lot of questions about Herman's head. Oh I wish there were at least one question about Herman's head. Did we get a Parker Lewis can't lose de Yes? Come on, what about first Fueler the series? Yeah? Cheepers, creepers. Question number six, speaking of which, can you name both the character and the actor who ran loss Ermanos on Breaking Bad? Can you give me the character name as well as the name

Question number seven of eight in your pop culture grab bag, we're all talking about peak TV questions. Question seven is about sex and the City. On Sex and the City, Carrie dedicates her book to which one just one of her friends gets the dedication? Can you name her? On Sex and the City, Carrie dedicates her book
to which one of her friends? For question number seven and finally question number eight, we have arrived at question number eight. What writer, producer, director, and showrunner has nine prime Time Emmy Awards, two for The Sopranos and seven for mad Men? What writer, producer, director, and showrunner has nine Primetime Emmy Awards, two for The Sopranos and seven for that excellent show mad Men. For question number eight, all right, pencils down,
gentlemen, let's go over your answers. For the grab bag, it was questions about peak TV great TV shows from the last twenty plus years. Question number one of eight was who portrayed the incredible character of Adriana le Cervo on the hit HBO series The Sopranos. Dan, what did you get for number one? I believe perhaps also overlooked for Emmy. I don't know if she ever won an Emmy. Drea de Matteo raa de Matteo, Sam, what did you put for number one? I too had Drea Demeteo. Yeah,
she was sensational in the role. It is Drea de Matteo for question number one. Loved her on Joey. She's a pretty lady too. Oh, yes, that is that is Jania. She's awesome. Question number two, Pam Beasley and Jim Halpert's first kiss on the Office took place at what chain restaurant? Sam? This one. I'm a big fan of the Office, but I could not come up with anything I was certain about. But I do know that they frequented at Chili's on the show. I think maybe at
the Dundees, So I went with Chili's. Chili's Great Guess, Dan, what did you put for number two? I believe it was at the Dundees. I believe it was after Pam won the Whitest Sneakers Award and it is, unironically my favorite restaurant. I also said Chili's. The correct answer is not Applebee's. It is Chili's. Correct answer. Way to go two for two in the grab bag Question number three, what's the name of the talk show hosted by the characters played by Donald Glover and Danny Pooty on Community?
Dan, do I get extra credit if they get the jingle right, I might. I might give you an extra half point if you do it, if you do it in their style. I believe it is Troy and Abed in the Morning, Bryan Abed in the Morning, Sam, what did you put for number three? I gotta tell you. As an actor, Mike,
you know how this goes. Sometimes you audition for a show so many times and they do not hire you, and at home you're like, I don't know that I can watch this now if they no matter how good everyone says it is, I'm like, yeah, but if they don't appreciate me, how can I appreciate them totally? So I did not sketch tryn Abbed in the Morning. Although as soon as stand said I was like, all right, I've heard that before, but I wrote down Talk Talk tig talk
like the band. Yeah. I think that was their follow up to Troy and Abbed in the Morning. I will give Dan an extra half point for the jingle that was that was That was beautiful. Yeah, I knew I should have fought more for that half point. On forty. It's okay, it's okay. You're gonna get some fractions very soon. I can feel it. We'll see, we'll see it is Troy and Abed in the morning for question number three. Question number four, Jeoffrey, Robert and Stanis are heads
of what Game of Thrones? House Sam? That is House Lanister. They always pay their debts House Lanister, Dan. What did you put for number four? I feel like I'm on Hollywood Squares. I'm gonna have to go ahead and disagree. Oh no, say House Barrathian. Wait a minute, I mess this up. Don't tell my wife. She's gonna be very upset with me. There's Jeffrey Robert I think the first and Stannisus. I think Jeoffrey is involved with the Lanisters. Yeah, he's his. When you look
up their name, their character names, they are all Barrathians. Oh this is terrible because I of course knew Barrathian, but I was like, what is it the house they all represent Leanister. Clearly I need to rewatch the show again. We'll have We'll have Annie look that up to seems yeah, don't yeah, don't have her listen. So, just because Jeffrey is, you know, Circe's son, and I know, I mean the first season was predicated around this very question is Jeoffrey, a Lanister or a Barrafian.
Okay, now we know. I guess I was going for Brathian. But I'm like, I'm I'm a casual fan. I'm not someone that read the books and watched the show and knows the same. My wife is very familiar with it. She would probably be a better expert on it than the internet. Even it took me about two full seasons to kind of know who everyone is. That's how bad it was. I was like, they need to have like a little map in the corner that shows you where the hell they're
at, who's doing what, and who what group they belong to. Question number five on VEEP, can you name the actress that plays Selena Myers chief of Staff? I think a couple different times. Amy Brookheimer named the actress Dan I never watched. Sadly, this is one of the shows I never watched, but I do remember the cast at the Emmys, and I remember a standout being she was She's a wonderful actress, but also one of my first crushes when I was very young. So I picked Anna Klumsky, Anna
a clumpsky Yeah, from My Girl so cute. Sam, What did you put for number five, I too went with Anna Klemsky, but also in parentheses. He needs his glasses. He can't see it without his classes. Oh my god, the wound, there's your there's your fraction of a point. Sam's gonna get me one and a half classes. Oh my god, so great. But it is the wonderful actress Anna Klumsky that plays Amy Brookheimer on VAT for question number five? Question number six, can you name both
the character and the actor who ran Losanos on Breaking Bad Sam? I went with full names, because you know, I want to be a completist. That's Gustavo Fring and gian Carlo Esposito portrays the magnificent Gustavo f Dan. Do you agree with that or did you go your own way? I did agree with that. I said Gustavo Gus Fring by the wonderful gen Carlo Sposso.
Yeah, you would be both correct. I think my brother was listening to a podcast where the way you're supposed to pronounce his name is Esposito, but like he's he's gone with Esposito forever because like no one's gonna get it right or something. I was like, that's really cool, but it's jian Carlo Esposito. You know, take a look at Tande Way Newton. It's never too late to say, you know what, I've heard it wrong for so many years. I'm putting my foot down. I'm putting my foot down.
Yeah. Yeah, Annie is chiming in and saying, Jeoffrey is legally a Barathian. So I guess we got to go legally yes, because laws are very important. Our lawyers from Rice Waterhouse, who listened in on this game, came back to us kings Landing. They are very strict, yes, with birthing laws that much. I remember very well. That's on me. I mean, I knew Barathian, but I thought the house was lanisterre. Just look, let's make an agreement between the three of us. Annie and
everyone listening to this on the internet. Nobody tell my wife. She'll be very upset with me that I blew that question. That she knows. I know. But pinky promise, pinky promise, we are not going to divulge anything. Okay, but yeah. Question number six it was Gustavo or Gus Freeing played by Giancarlo Esposito or Esposito. Question number seven on sex in the City Carrie dedicates her book to which one of her friends, Dan, I did not know the answer to this, so I went with the comedy of
it being the only one who didn't come back for the new series. So I said, Samantha, Samantha, great guess, Sam, what did you put for number seven? I've got some good news. No point change will happen on this one, because I also said Samantha, Samantha and Samantha correct answer is Charlotte. It was the third lung. You're both such as you're both such. Charlotte's on that, and I don't know if that's it makes
sense at all. It is Charlotte for question number seven. Question number eight, what writer, producer, director, and showrunner has nine Primetime Emmy Awards, two for The Sopranos and seven for mad Men? Sam, what did you get for number eight? Winer? Dan, what did you get for number eight? I wrote down, Matthew Weiner, Matthew Winer, you would both be correct. You clobbered the pop culture grab bag. And he's tabulating the scores. Yeah, we have a scoreboard update at halftime. We have
Sam Levine with nine points and Dan Merle with eleven and a half. It's eleven and a half to nine after two. All right, so it is eleven and a half to nine at halftime. It's anyone's game. As we enter around three of four, round three, the lightning round, Sam, you are trailing, so you get to choose first from one of these three categories for your life Questionna, we're gonna talk about some snacks. You can either have a moon pie, a host Is fruit pie, or a Little
Debbie oatmeal cream pie. Well, I am an oatmeal man, so let's go oatmeal. It's one of my favorite things on earth was those Little Debbie oatmeal cream all Right, I'm gonna give you. I'm gonna read the question twice, twenty seconds on the clock. I'm gonna say, go hit the
button. You give me as many answers as you possibly can, and you sit tight and write some answers down because I'm gonna come to you straight away with your five second rebuttal, here is your lightning round, Little Debbie oatmeal cream pie. Question. I want the colleges or universities with the largest endowments. These include college or university state wide systems as well. These are Yeah, the universities and colleges that have these kind of grotesque large endowments in the
tens of billions of dollars. Top nine, twenty seconds on the clock and go Princeton, Harvard, Yale, Brown, Ithaca, USC, UCLA, University of Pennsylvania, Penn State, Duke, Georgetown, Howard George, Washington University, that other one Dartmouthops. Stop you did great, you got one, two, three, four you got Harvard, Yale, Princeton, and
Penn You got those four. There's five more up for grabs. We're going to go to Dan with your five second rebuttal again, colleges or universities with the largest endowments five seconds on the clock and go, I say, University of Texas, University of Oklahoma, Texas A and M, Oklahoma State, University of North Carolina, William and Mary. Stop stop stop, you stole two. You got the Texas IS, the Texas Systems UT as well as all the Texas A and MS. Because there's multiple ones. There are as
numbers two and eight. Incredible how large those endowments are. The ones we didn't get to get ready to roll your eyes. Number four is Stanford. Number six the Massachusetts Institute of Technologies M. And then number nine, U of M Go Blue Michigan number nine. Well, you know how people have said in the past that the SATs are biased, That question is biased. I did not go to college because I was on go to College. We were just talking about the show that I was doing instead of going to college
freaks and geeks. So I think that it's a biased question to ask me, a non college educated person about colleges and universities. Whereas Dan famously was wearing an FSU hat for years years. I see the seminoles helmet in the background. Set up beautiful, great job on the Little Debbie oatmeal cream pie question. Dan, it's your turn in the barrel. You could either choose moonpie or Hostess fruit Pie for your lightning round question. Let's go with Moonpie.
Let's go with Moonpie. All right, So Hostess fruit Pie was kind of a movie question. That'll just go in the hopper for a future game. Let's see what we got here, moonpie question. I'll read it twice, twenty seconds on the clock. I'll say, go say as many answers, Sam, you maybe want to jot some answers down. I'm coming straight to you for your rebuttal got it? All right, Moonpie. Question for Dan goes like this, I want the nine largest cities in the state of
California by population. Top nine largest cities in California by population, twenty seconds and ago Sacramento, San Diego, Oakland, San Francisco, Los Angeles, God, um, this is awful, Glendale, Pasadena, Studio City. Jeez, you got four. You got Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco, and Sacramento. Your five second rebuttal, Sam to see if you can steal some answers. Nine largest cities in California by population, five seconds on the clock and ago San Jose, Oakland, Carlsbad, Riverside, Santa
Barbara. You stole to You got San Jose and Oakland. The ones we didn't get to. Number five on the lift list, the Bulldogs of Fresno. Fresnosno fifth, number seven kind of surprising Long Beach numbers. Oh yeah, long Beach is huge. And then number nine Bakersfield, bakers bakers Field question number Baker's Field castaway. Yeah, we're tabulating your scores right now. Very fun. Lightning round all right, upon further review, I made a
mistake in the lightning round. Dan actually said Oakland so he gets that point in the moonpie question. So we've got the scores correct. Right now we have Sam Levine with fourteen points and Dan Merle with eighteen and a half after three awesome. So after that very fun lightning round, it is eighteen and a half to fourteen. Dan Merle's in the lead over Sam Levine. Again. You could follow Dan Merle on social media at Merle Dan on Instagram and
dan Merle Movies on YouTube. He's playing for the THEA Foundation. And then you can follow Sam Levine on all the social media platforms at Sam with two ms Levine. He's playing for the Big Slick, which is the Children's Mercy Hospital of Kansas City. Holy cow, it's still anyone's game as we head into our fourth and final round between you two. Round four, the Double
Duty is the Theodore Double Duty Radcliffe round. We call it the Double Duty because points are doubled and there are nine questions in this round, so there are eighteen very big points up for grabs in this round. Your category for the Double Duty today it is a music round. More specifically, these are questions about music from the nineteen seventies and nineteen eighties, seventies, and eighties music nine questions in this round Here is question number one. The album Brothers
in Arms was the first to sell one million copies on CD. It was the first CD to sell one million copies back in nineteen eighty six. For what band led by the Knaffler Brothers, The album Brothers in Arms was the first to sell one million copies on the new fangled CDs back in nineteen eighty six. For what band led by the Knoeffler Brothers that knop fl e R
Brothers. For question number one, Moving right along to question number two, what Queen of Funk and lead singer of the band Rufus was born Yvette Marie Stevens for question number two? Once again, her nickname or Moniker the Queen of Funk, and she was the lead singer of the band Rufus before she went solo. Her given name was Yvette Marie Stevens. Give me her aka are better known as for question number two. Question number three is kind of
a crazy question. What member of the Mothers of Invention released over forty five albums of their own throughout the seventies and eighties. Very prolific musician was a member of the Mothers of Invention and released over forty five albums throughout the seventies and eighties. Name that artist for question number three. My Favorites. You know in the Santa Claus when Tim Allen looks in the mirror and his beard grows back and he realizes he's stuck in Santa Claus and he goes, I'm
in big trouble. That's exactly how I feel right now. I believe in you, Dan Sam. Are you still feeling good about that question? Yes? Oh man, this is gonna get real good, all right. Moving things along to question number four. What legendary rock and roll band was banned in Boston back in nineteen seventy five after their fans went nuts and rioted inside the Boston Garden after they had been let into the Sports I mean had to
buy tickets to the show to be like out of the cold. The Boston Garden was like, Hey, let's not have these kids that wanted my tickets to be out in the cold. I set them buy tickets to the show tomorrow inside and they broke into the Celtics and Bruins locker rooms and the concession stands, and the mayor banned this legendary rock and roll group. Do we
know how long they were banned? I think it was at least for a little bit, like the concert that was supposedly supposed to be at the Boston Garden got moved to the Nassau Coliseum in New York or Long Island or something. But but yeah, I don't think they were a band forever. It was just like in the newspaper it said, you know, banned in Boston
with their picture. So again for question number four, what legendary rock and roll band was banned in Boston back in nineteen seventy five after their fans went nuts and rioted inside the Boston Garden after they have been let into the sports arena to buy tickets to the show and stay out of the cold, all right? Question number five. What Porto Rican singer who was born blind wrote and performed the theme song to the nineteen seventies Freddy Prince sitcom Chico and the
Man. It's also notorious for playing a very long star spangled banner rendition before a Detroit Tigers World Series game that people still hate him for because they blame him for why they lost the ballgame. Again, for question number five, what Puerto Rican singer who was born blind wrote and performed the theme song very great theme song to the nineteen seventies Freddie Prince sitcom Chico and the Man. And then there were four your final four questions in the double Duty Radcliff Round.
These are music questions from the nineteen seventies and eighties. Question number six, what Whitney Houston song? Has the lyric i decided long ago never to walk in anyone's shadows? And then there's a bonus point if you can name the originator of that song back in nineteen seventy seven that had the hit songs turn Your Love Around and give Me the Night. He originated this song I'm Looking For back in nineteen seventy seven, but Whitney had a mega hit with
it in the eighties. Has the lyric i decided long ago never to walk in anyone's shadows? And then again, you can get a bonus point if you can name the originator of that song back in nineteen seventy seven that had his own hit songs turn Your Love Around and Give Me the Night? Question number seven, Forming in nineteen eighty eight, can you name three of the five members of the supergroup The Traveling Wilbury's Traveling Wilburries. Can you name three
of the five members of the supergroup the Traveling Wilburies. They formed in nineteen eighty eight, put out a couple two or three albums into the early nineties, but they formed in nineteen eighty eight. Your penultimate question, question number eight of nine and the Double Duty is After the breakup of the Sex Pistols, the billionaire Richard Brands of Virgin Everything Notoriety allegedly tried to get lead singer
Johnny Rotten to join what new wave band from Akron, Ohio? New wave band famously from Akron, Ohio. So again, after the breakup of the Sex Pistols, Richard Branson of Virgin Everything Notoriety allegedly tried to get lead singer Johnny Rotten to join what new wave band from Akron, Ohio. All right, here it is your final question in the Double Duty round, Question number
nine of nine. What don't it make My brown Eyes blue? Singer is the younger sister of Loretta Lynn. What are those questions that, yeah, everyone should know this, but I don't think everyone does. What don't it make my brown Eyes blue? Singer is the younger sister of Loretta Lynn. For question number nine, she had lots of hit songs, I think in the seventies and eighties. All right, pencils down, fell We're going to go over our answers In the Double Duty Radcliff Round. This was a category
about music from the nineteen seventies and the nineteen eighties. Sam needs a few more than Dan to have a comeback here in this roe. I'm're lucky here question number one. The album Brothers in Arms was the first to sell one million copies on CD back in nineteen eighty six. For what band led by the Knopfler brothers, Sam, what did you get for number one? What is the Dire Streets Dire Straits? Dan? What did you put for number one? I am confident in exactly one answer in this round, and it
is this one. I also said Dire Streets Dire Straits. We're talking about one of the greatest guitar players of all time, Mark Knopfler and Dire Straits two points apiece For question number one. Fun fact about Knoppler and the Dire Straits. So in the eighties film UHF Weird Al of course, famously parodied the Dire Straits Money for Nothing for the Beverly Hillbillies theme, and when he asked permission of Mark Knopflernopfler said, uh, yeah, you can have permission,
but I want to play guitar on it. And I was like, of course, yes, please, thank you. Of course that's like the coolest because you've heard some of the people that really, you know, just didn't get al or you know, we're so so precious with their music. They didn't get that he actually would help all these artists by doing these parodies. Yeah, yeah, but to hear to hear, yeah, that noveler
was like, yeah, I want to play on it. Though. Holy I guess he was just so nervous someone would ruin the riff for him. I don't know. So that's him on that song. Don't make a mockery of it. I'll do it. I got to see him live at the Greek a year or two ago, and he is still just like spectacular. I'm so glad I saw him live. Question number two. What Queen of funk and lead singer of the band Rufus was born Yvette Marie Stevens Dan. I had no idea on this, So I guessed Sister Sledge. Sister Sledge.
We are family fame, right there, Sam, what did you put for number two? I was absolutely stimmyed, I said, Macy Gray, Pacy Gray. Yeah, she had the songs. Tell me something good with Rufus mother songs. We're talking about Shaka Khan, Shuka Khan. It is a wonderful Shaka Khan. Wasn you tell me something good in the I would have got it for I thought Rufus maybe would give it to you. But some of you are they don't know that she was the lead singer of Rufus.
I did not know that. Yeah, that's a that's a valid that is an impression. That's good stuff. Question number three, what member of the Mothers of Invention released over forty five albums of their own throughout the seventies and eighties, Sam, uh I hope, I'm right. It sure feels like Frank Zappa. Frank Zappa, Dan, what did you put for number three? I put nothing. I was couldn't even come up with a funny answer. That's how stumped I was by that question. Yeah, that is
a deeper cut. Yeah, he was started off with the Mothers of invention, but then went solo and released just a lot of years he was putting out three to five albums. It is Frank Zappa, who I think you know with compilations and best ofs and other things, even after his death,
where it's hundreds of albums of music. Incredible. Question Number four, What legendary rock and roll band was banned in Boston back in seventy five when their fans went crazy as they were waiting to buy tickets in the Boston Garden. Can you name that huge band? Dan? I almost said Aerosmith, but then I said, I don't think Aerosmith could ever get banned in Boston, So I went with Black Sabbath completely. I said Black Sabbath Sabbath. That's
a hell of a guess. Sam, what did you put for number four? I too initially thought maybe Aerosmith, but then had the same thought, Uh, there's no way Boston would ban their hometown boys. Uh. So I went with the Who because I like to call them the Whom? The whom is it? The Whom? The correct answer? Get the lead out.
It's Led. That was my Boston band, led Zeppelin from playing at the Garden because their fans stole, you know, like Bobby Ors, you know, should have gotten it, should have gotten that one points I left on the table. One of my favorite throwaway lines from this is spinal Tap is when their concert gets canceled and their manager says, that's all right. Boston's not a college town anyway. There's like seventeen seventeen colleges in Boston something
like that. Yeah. Crazy. It is led Zeppelin that got banned for question number four. Question number five, what Puerto Rican singer who was born blind wrote and performed the theme song one of my favorite theme songs from the nineteen seventies Freddy Prince sitcom Chico and the Man Sam. I am incorrect on all counts. I don't believe this man is a Puerto Rican descent. Far
as I know, he was not born blind. But you know how this works, Mike, when you're on Jeopardy and sometimes you get a question and you've got limited time, and your brain is like, I know this isn't right, But then your brain literally cannot conjure up another answer, so you at least say something. It just stuck in there. It was the only thing coming out. Carlos Santana Carlos Santa it's on a loop in your head. You can't. I know it's not right, but I gotta write something
down. Carlos Santana, Dan, what did you put for number five? I can't explain it, but the name Jose Feliciano jumped into my brain, so I wrote down, Hose Feliciano. Great guess. That is a great guess. The correct answer is the man that also gave us Felie nave Dad. It is Jose Feliciano. That's a huge one. That's a big bit for Dan. That's great man. Jose Feliciano. Yeah, I did the theme song for Chico and the Man, which is one of my favorite theme
songs of the seventies. You know, if you'd just said he was also in Fargo, Yeah, exactly, he's all slaves himself in Fargo. Also, Oh my god, all over it, Mike. Question number six, what Whitney Houston song has the lyric? I decided long ago never to walk in anyone's shadows. I had a bonus point available if you can name the originator of the song. Back in nineteen seventy seven. This gentleman had other hit songs. Turn your love Around and give Me the Night? Dan,
did you get any of those for number six? Well, I guessed, I don't know if I got any of them. I said the song was the greatest Love of All? And I guessed Tony Orlando, Tony Orlando and down that's great. Sam, What did you put for number six? I decided long ago never oh get anyone shadow if if I succeed Elisa that I believe. That was my sixth grade graduation song from elementary school. Oh, that's awesome, Greatest Love of All by Whitney Houston, and I was I
did not know it was an originator. I took a shot mister Barry Manilow. Barry Manilow, all right, So the song that has that lyric from Whitney Houston is the Greatest Love of All. And that was on an album in nineteen seventy seven for mister George Benson, George Benson jazz guitarist that had that song turn your Love Around, but bump bump, bump, bump, and give me the night. So, George Benson, if you're playing at
home, give yourselves an extra point. Question number seven forming in nineteen eighty eight, can you name three the five members of the supergroup, The Traveling Wilbury's Sam. I don't know if extra points are available, but jeff Lynn, Tom Petty, Bob Dylan, George Harrison, and the late great Roy Orbison. Wow, Dan, what did you put for number seven? I only got three. I think I might have pulled the right ones though I wrote George Harrison, Bob Dylan, and Roy Orbison. I'm gonna give Dan
two points. I'm gonna give Sam three points for that because he got them all. He got them all. It is Bob Dylan, George Harrison, Tom Petty, Roy Orbison and Jeff Lynn from Electric Light Orchestra. When they came out, I was like, I had no idea who jeff Lynn was. I knew of ell O, but I didn't know he was the like, the you know, producer, writer of everything ELO, and then like, since then he's become one of my favorite artists of all time. I
loved jeff Lynn unbelievable. Yeah, and I have also I was learned about him through ELO and then learned everything else and the band he was in before you low the move great so great if you like seventy you know, funky late sixties even oh so good. And the stuff he did is his solo
career just just yeah and I and to learn. I watched a documentary about him too, and he just like he produced a bunch of the albums of these guys, like the George Harrison album that did the cover of I Got My Mind Set on You, Full Moon Fever, Roy Orbison's last two records, Like he was producing all of these guys albums as well. I didn't know that until way later. Uh, it's down to two. It's down to these two. I think the scores are getting real, real tight.
Question number eight. After the breakup of the Sex Pistols, Richard Branson, a virgin Everything notoriety, allegedly tried to get lead singer Johnny Rotten to join what new wave band from Akron, Ohio. Dan. So, for all of our pyramid talk, I do think actually your movie clue it pointed me in a direction when I was aimless before, because when you said movies names that we've seen, I thought Elfman. So I said, Oingo Boingo, because I know that Danny Elfman was in. That is one of the two
that I thought you would you would go to Sam. Did you agree with that or did you go somewhere else? For question number eight? I I concur with my esteemed colleague and I also said oingo boingo, said oingo boingo, Danny Elfman, I gave you the clue. Yeah, it might be someone that you've maybe seen in movie circles. I was going for Mark Mothersbaw of Devo Divo. He was in Devo there famously from Akron Oh Hi, oh yeah yeah. Just to think though of Johnny Rotten and Devo is an
interesting thought. Uh. It comes down to this a little country music question. What don't it make my brown eyes? Blue singer is the younger sister of Loretta Lynn. Can you name her? Sam? Uh? I could not, So I was really just racking my brain to think of, you know, country singers. I couldn't think of any with the last name Lynn, So I thought, I don't know, maybe miss Reba McIntyre is somehow related to her and took a different name at some point. She's been around
a good long time, got a string of hits. So shot in the dark. Great guess Reba McIntyre, Dan, what did you put? For number nine? Similarly, I was racking my brain, so I went with what I assume is her much much younger sister Jamie Lynn, who would later take out that answer deserves a huzza, yes sir, Holy cow, that is yes Jamie Lynn. God every time we could get a Jamie Lynn reference as there is fantastic. The singer from a Don't It Make My Brown Eyes
Blue? A huge mega hit in the seventies, I believe is miss Crystal Gail. Crystal Gaiale with that long hair down to the floor, is the younger sister of Loretta Lynn. So we are tabulating up our final scores. Sam Levine with twenty three that's Michael Jordan's number, and Dan Merle with twenty six and a half. Dan Merle, you are the smartest person in the world for one week. Nicely done. What athlete was twenty six and a half? Yeah, that sounds like it sounds like Fletcher's number. Yeah,
exactly, Fletch Flesh. A great game, fellas, that was tight throughout. Again. We're playing with Sam Levine. You could follow him on social media at Sam with two ms Levine. We're happy to make a donation in his name to the Big Slick, the Children's Mercy Hospital of Kansas City be on the lookout for his new two be streaming series called under Developed and then Dan Merle our champ for Today. What a game, but the game is not over. The final throwdown. Annie's gonna rejoin the game and throw up this one off final throw down question. Dan, you'll get first dibbs at a guest, but Sam and I can throw our four cents
in and then we're gonna learn a little bit about this. So Annie, if you were at the ready, she's posting the final throwdown question and it goes like this, what was unusual about j Fred Muggs? That's with two g What was unusual about Jafred Muggs, a Today Show co host who appeared on the show from nineteen fifty three to nineteen fifty seven. What was unusual about him? Okay, so two things popped into my head and I know
it's fifty fifty ninety. I know I'm gonna pick the wrong one of the two options, but I'm gonna I believe he was a monkey or a or an eighth of some sort. Holy smokes, that's fantastic, Sam, you got anything on this one. I'm quite sure he was a chimpanzee. And if you've seen the film Quiz Show, he makes an appearance there. It is what was unusual about Jay Fred Muggs, a Today Show co host who appeared on the show for four years. Again a pretty good run on the
show for at least four or five seasons. I'm gonna agree with YouTube gents. Let's reveal the answer and learn a little bit about Jyfred mug Uggs. Here it is he was a chimpanze. So you guys nailed it. The Today Show nearly tanked after its first year of broadcast. Didn't know that Jfred Muggs was hired to save the show, and he did, making over one hundred million dollars in revenue for the National What is It Broadcasting Company NBC made
over one hundred million that that chimp did. That mugs owner was a former page and used his contacts to get the primate an audition, and Jfred Muggs retired at the ripe Old age of twenty three. There's that number again, twenty three. Oh my god, We'll never forget. The Savior of NBC Jay Fred Muggs Jensen was Michigan j Froggs, the Savior of the WB coming up next on on the Wbit, son of the bad show that no one will see. So you know that, but you don't know. Lizzie Borden,
come on your head out of your ass Jents. It was a pleasure and an honor to spend some time with you guys again, continued success on all that you do and yeah, yeah, so so great playing with you.
