Hello, You Should Know Better fans. As you may or may not know, sag Aftra, the union I am a proud member of, as well as many of our guests, has gone on strike. Part of adhering to this work stoppage is that we cannot promote TV shows and films that are covered in this contract dispute, so we are going to hold off on releasing any

new episodes until the strike is over. We don't want to get anyone in trouble, but we will be reposting some of our favorite Jeopardy Champs episodes from yesteryear, and as always, feel free to listen to any of our previous fifty plus pods. We thank you for your support and understanding, and hopefully we will be back real soon with some new and entertaining season two episodes of

You Should Know Better The Trivia Podcast. So, without further ado, on with the show, welcome to You Should Know Better with Mike C. But as for right now, let's jump right into some questions and answers with our first of four rounds today around one General knowledge thinking caps on you two pencils, ready, and away we go. There are eight questions in

the general Knowledge round. Here is question number one. What famous California music venue opened on July eleventh, nineteen twenty two celebrated its hundredth birthday last year. What famous California music venue opened on July eleventh, nineteen twenty two For question number one, we have arrived at question number two. Question number two in your general knowledge round, name the famous woman who made her professional modeling

debut in the annual Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Swimsuit issue back in twenty ten. She co hosted a TV show called lip Sync Battle and authored three cookbooks, as well as having a very lively Twitter feed. Over the many years Name that person. For question number two. Once again, name a famous woman who made a professional modeling debut in the annual Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue back in twenty ten. She co hosted the Lip Sync Battle and authored three cookbooks, as

well as has had a very lively Twitter feed over the years. Name that person. Question number three kind of a kid's lit question. Donald J. Sobel wrote numerous books about what ten year old star detective from Idaville Idaville wrote many books about this ten year old star detective from Idaville. The author again was Donald J. Sobel. I read a bunch of these books as a kid. For a question number three, name that detective. Question number four

kind of a world cities question. What Africa city would you be in or around if you were visiting the Giraffe Center, the Karen Blixen Museum, or the Kenyatta International Conference Center. Name that African city again for question number four, What African city would you be in or around if you were visiting the Giraffe Center, the Karen Blixen Museum, or the Kenyatta International Conference Center. Moving things right along US history for question number five. The x y Z

affair occurred during the early portion of whose presidency? Who was the presidency when the x y Z affair was going on? French diplomats. I believe the x y z affair occurred during the early portion of whose presidency? For number five, all right? Question number six, an interesting question. The French conglomerate LVMH specializes in luxury brands, one fashion brand and two potent potable brands. Can you name two of the three brands that are part of that French

conglomerate? Again, it's LVMH. They specialize in luxury brands. One is a fashion brand and two are potent potable brands. Can you name two of the three brands that are part of that that conglomerate? For question number six? All right? Question number seven, I hate to do this, but I had to do it. I think it's pretty much your only sports question in this entire game, but I had to throw one in there. Can

you name either of the quarterbacks from the most recent Super Bowl? Can you name either of the starting quarterbacks in the most recent Super Bowl we had here in twenty twenty three? For question number seven? Last names will suffice? All right? Question number eight here we are the final question in the general knowledge round kind of a human body question. I did not know this and I found it fascinating. The horseshoe wink wink at one of our contestants.

The horseshoe shaped highoid bone that's spelled hyoid is the only bone in the human body not connected to another bone. Where would you find this interesting bone? It's the highoid bone. It's a horseshoe shaped bone. Where would you find that thing? It's the only bone in the entire human body not connected to another bone. All right, pencils down, you two. We will go over your answers in just a second. But it's time to meet. Are

two one full sensational Jeopardy Champion guests. We will start this person from my town, Shytown, Chicago, Illinois. They are a chart caller and freelance horse racing rider and editor. Rowan Ward is here today. Hello, thank you so much for having me. Oh you can follow Rowan on Instagram, Instagram and Twitter at rogue Clown and then you can just find them on Facebook. Rowan Ward w A R. D. Rowan. What charity are you playing for today? I am playing for a Cantor Chicago. As you can

tell from what I do for a living. I do love the horses and specifically horse racing. And Cantor Chicago is the local chapter of Cantor USA, and we are an all volunteer group that networks retiring race horses into new homes.

Because horses have long lifespan, and even the oldest racehorses that you'll typically see and you go to the races one day and you might see a couple of horses who are ten, eleven, twelve years old even, but most horses retire younger than that, and most horses live way longer than that. And there's so much cool stuff that retired racehorses can do that isn't horse racing. You know, everything from being a laidback trail horse or family horse to

you know, more serious business, even athletic endeavors. You know, every time the Olympics roll around, you'll see retired racehorses on the Olympic team doing a venting. That's so cool. Rowan Ward playing for Cantor Chicago, win or lose, We're happy to make a donation in your name to that wonderful charity. And now it's time to meet your opponent and kind of your jeopardy

BFF Waldorf, Maryland. You're in Nashville now right, Yes, that's correct, But a group of Waldorf, which is a suburb of DC, so had great field trips as a kid. So cool. That's one city. That's the one big US city that I've yet to go to, and being a trivia buffet's like I must make a pilgrimage and go for like a month to take it all in. There's some good Jeopardy connections there at DC, so you're probably gonna you probably will have plenty of people who would be willing

to show you a good trivia time. Oh, that would be tremendous. That's high on my list. You are a statistical research specialist and outside of that, you're taking some creative writing and improv classes in Nashville, Tennessee. My new friend Jessica Stevens is here. Hey yeah, and you can follow miss Stevens on Instagram Twitter at jess m Stevens. Jessica, what charity are you playing for today? I am playing for Doctors Without Borders, which I

assume does not need a signal boost for me. I'm sure most people have heard of them, But the reason I wanted to just provide a little bit of extra support for them. Is they already have a presence in so many conflict zones and they provide medical care. It's not just doctors, it's medical professionals of all kinds of providing care in conflict zones, regardless of who the

person is on what side that person might be fighting for. But it's it's a good organization to donate too, if you want to help in the aftermath of the earthquake in Turkey Syria, especially because that's an area where Doctors Without Borders already has a presence and so there's not as much work that they might need to do compare to other organizations to get the inroads that they would need

to to provide care. That's fantastic. Yeah, they already have boots on the ground, so let's just help them while they're already there and ready to work. Jessica Stevens playing for Doctors Without Borders again, We're happy to make a donation in your name to that wonderful charity. You know, our players are Jeopardy champions. You know what good causes they're playing for. So let's get back to the game and go of our answers. For Round one and

get our first scoreboard update. There were eight questions in the general knowledge round. Question number one was what famous California music venue opened on July eleventh, nineteen twenty two. Jessica, what did you put? For number one? I put the Filmore and then automatically thought, oh, this is the Greek. But I'm going to stick with Fillmore because I every time somebody puts on a live album it seems to be at the Filmore. That is a great

guess. Rowan, do you agree with that? Or did you go your own way? For number one? I went a different way. Actually, Fillmore did float through my head, but my first and strongest instinct was actually in another part of California. I went with the Hollywood Bowl. I just thought that a larger outdoor amphitheater, perhaps that could have gotten started in the nineteen twenties. I went with the Hollywood Bowl. Two fantastic guesses. We

have the Filmore and we have a Hollywood Bowl. The correct answer is the one that is just on the street from me. It is the Hollywood Bowl. Was just over. It's one hundred and one year's bold Now, yeah, the Hollywood Bowl. For question number one, question number two. The

infamous question number two possibly let's find out where we're at. Name the famous woman who made her professional modeling debut and the annual Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue back in twenty ten, co hosted the TV show lip Sync Battle, authored three cookbooks, and has had a lively Twitter feed. Rowan, what did you put for number two? Oh? I do not like my answer for this one at all, just because twenty ten seems entirely too late for her modeling

debut. But I know she's a model. I have not seen any Lip Sync Battle except for that one clip of Tom Holland doing the umbrella thing, but no idea who hosts it. But you know, one out of three, I know she at least had well two out of three. I guess she's got a hot fire Twitter feed. And I know she has at least one cookbook because my friend cooked something out of it. I said, Chrissy Tigan, Chrissie Teagan Tigan, potato potato, potato, potato, Jessica,

what did you put for number two? I also put Chrissy taking because I figure if you call the President of the United States a punk as pitch, I'm gonna remember your Twitter feed. Yes you will, and you you both remember who the correct answer is. It is Chrissy Tea. For number two, Great work, both of y'all. Question number three was your like kids lit question. Donald J. Sobel wrote numerous books about what ten year old

star detective from Idaville. We'll start with Jessica again. For number three, I played Encyclopedia Brown, who I identified with so deeply. I might also need a second to cry quietly to myself if that is not the correct answer, Eclopedia Brown. Great guests, Rowan, what did you put? Who wrote Encyclopedia Brown? Came up in a trivia I was playing a couple of days ago. It is Sobol It's Encyclopedia Brown. You are on fire, the both of you. It is one of my favorite yeah books growing up.

I read almost all of them was Encyclopedia Brown, written by Donald J. Sobel. Great work. Question number four, What African city would you be in or around if you were visiting the Giraffe Center, the Karen Blixen Museum or the Kenyatta International Conference Center. Rowan, Well, Karen Blixen and Kenyatta led me to Kenya, and so I went with Nairobi, Nairobi, Kenya. Jessica, what did you put? I also went with Nairobi because

Kenyota really made it convenient by having a name so similar to Kenya. If any Sweden Goorg questions come up later, same same deal, I know, same deal. Yes, mister Jomo Kenyada was the first president of Free Kenya. It is Nairobi, Nairobi, Kenya. For number four. You guys are killing it, unbelievable. Question number five. I think you got this one too. The x y Z affair occurred during the early portion of whose presidency. Jess Yeah, I'm not going to go with my instinct here,

because my instinct says it probably happened earlier than this man. I just know that his nickname was his accidency, and so like a lot of scandalous things happened, I'm gonna go with John Quincy Adams John Q. Yeah, Roan, do you agree with the Q or no? Well, I have the same first name and I have the same last name. But I'm pretty sure this was like seventeen ninety eight, seventeen ninety nine millions for defense, but not one cent for tribute. I had John Adams of John Adams, John

Quincy Adams. Yeah, welcome to John Adams World. The correct answer is the earlier Adams, just John Adams, the second president of these here United States. Back to the game, Question number six. Question number six. The French conglomerate LVMH specializes in luxury brands, one fashion brand and two potent potable brands. Can you name two of the three? Rowan a Ward. Yeah, Food and drink is definitely one of my better topics. So the

luxury goods brand is LV or Louis Wouiton. The M stands for moy as in Boy and Shandon the sparkling wine provider. And Hennessy is the H Hennessey konjac Hennessy Conya. Right. Guesses, Jessica, what did you put none of those as? While we were talking, I was like, oh, it's probably Louis the Tom, But I did initially before we started around Havelon Bond, because I was just like, I don't what's what's a French fashion

brand that's luxury? And then I don't drink alcohol. I am alcohol a literate and so I was like, maybe more loads of brand and the kind of one. Those were my guesses. Great there's Rowan destroyed on this one. They got all of them. It is Louis Vaton is the LV Moet, the Champagne Moet, and Shandon is the Champagne jam brand. And then yeah, Hennessey Kognak is that third luxury brand and that French conglomerate. Well played. Question number seven was your sports question. Can you name either of

the quarterbacks the starting quarterbacks from the most recent Super Bowl? Uh? Miss Stevens, Okay, Well, I just want with the numbers here. I figured if I guessed Manning, there's two people could potentially be I and I know how recent this is. I know that the cheerleaders will here at the Puppy Bowl were cats. That's the extent I know about. It's a different

animal every year. And so they went with a classic, so I went with Manny, although I sort of I know the cities that way, you know all these other things about yeah look yeah, So like my options were either like bone up on sports or like risk getting a sports question wrong. And I don't regret what I've done. You have not wasted your time. I'm a big sports fan, but that's I was raised an idiotic sports fan. But that's that's why. But it's like people like, do you want

to learn about it? Like, don't, don't if you're not into it, don't, don't go out of your way. Uh rowan Ward, what did you put for number seven? Football is not my sport, but I do know that this year was the first time that two black quarterbacks started against each other in the Super Bowl. For the Kansas City Chiefs, you've got Mahomes and for the Philadelphia Eagles you have Hurts. Patrick Mahomes from the Kansas City Chiefs and Jalen Hurts from Fly Eagles, Fly the Philadelphia Eagles. It

is Jalen Hurts and Patrick Mahomes were those two starting quarterbacks. Patrick Mahomes gets his second Super Bowl Trophy already and its second Super Bowl MVP. I believe he's going places. That guy is already kind of etching his name in the tops of QB land for all times, Patrick Mahomes. Question number eight was your human body question. Horseshoe shaped hyoid bone as the only bone in the human body not connected to another bone, where would you find this interesting bone

rowing? Well, in addition to being into horse con, I also read and listen to a lot of true crime. I'm kind of a serial killer nerd, and the highoid bone is the one that is broken if you've been choked or strangled. It's in your throat. In your throat, Stevens, what do you got? I also put neck. I'm also fluent in true crime, but I'm gonna come clean with you guys. I know that the highoid bones in the neck because this was a plot point on Criminal Minds,

and I just think Matthew greg Google is a good looking man. That is why I know where the highoid bone is, and so it's it's horseshoe shaped. Rowan also knows anything shape. She studied that it is in your neck or your throat. It's connected with other muscles and kind of tendons and stuff, but not to another bone. Your highoid bone is in your throat or your neck. Well done, this is great. We had a perfect score for rowing ward in the general knowledge round. That deserves a huzza. That

answer deserves a huzza. Jessica, you did very well as well. It's to four after one. It's anyone's game after one. It is eight to four after round one. We'll jump into round two in just a second. But since we have two wonderful Jeopardy champs here, I wanted to talk to you both about your journeys just getting on the show and how was your first your first game on Jeopardy. How did that go? So we'll start with Jessica. What was it like just to get on the show, and then

what happened? Remind our listeners what happened? Well, I was on I believe it. Oh, my first episode aired October eleventh. In twenty twenty one, I played in matt Emodio's final game, and so when I had auditioned, I it was kind of, you know, the same story as probably most people you have on here. I take the anytime test. I took it every year and it never heard back. So I was actually really

surprised to have heard back in twenty twenty one. But yeah, it's just know it's it's definitely you can be a very good player and languish in that that contestant for a while. Sometimes it's just a matter of there's so many smart people out there. But I did manage to go on and while I was preparing matt emmodious episodes were airing, and so you know, I kind of that doesn't happen too too frequently. I think some super Champions have played

for long enough that their episodes were airing while they were still contestants. But I was just kind of like, Okay, if I don't see the current champ, I still know I'm playing whoever beat him or whoever beat that person, but I might have more of a chance. But I also went, I told myself before even accepting the booking, I'm not going to go if it's going to be upsetting to go and not win, because most people don't

win their first game. It's not even one in three. You're playing against the current champ, and so I you know, I talked to my later games about like, oh, that's my Space Camp experience. But I've just been a fan of the show since I was in single digits. I've changed so much as a person and that's been a constant in my life over the

years, and so just to be there was really important to me. And then I didn't see that Emmodio at first on our tap on my first tape day, but then when he walked in, I just like I saw him. I thought, Okay, I'm not gonna win, and I just will have a fun time. And then when I ended up playing his first game, so they randomly choose who in the pool is gonna go on the game, and I got the Monday game, so I was going on first,

and I just thought, Okay, well get great. I'm gonna get it over with and then I'm going to just enjoy the rest of the day, really feeling really easy and like back. And so I don't think it hit me until Final Jeopardy that Jonathan and I were doing well enough that we could beat that emmodio. There had been times that he had, you know, might have been a lock game, and I think we trow win like that. That was why they got so much attention for their game, as they

had one a few people to even have a lock game. And so I remember when it got very surreal for me was when they were revealing Final Jeopardy answers. And so while we were going into Final Jeopardy, I think Matt was around had like somewhere between ten thousand and eleven thousand dollars. I had

fourteen. I can't remember exactly that. I think I had fourteen thousand, two hundred and Johnathan fourteen thousand, four hundred and so it was really tight, but it was still like, you know, every time this kind of thing happens, that always would come back from behind. There had been a few games where like it looked like as loose was clicking came right. So I even then I was just thinking, oh, like this could This is going to be an exciting game. It might not end with me or Jonathan

winning. But I think when it really became surreal is Matt's answer was revealed. First it was incorrect just because his wasn't corrected, I mean that mine was correct. So right, once mine was revealed and it was correct, and I knew that my score was higher than his, I realized, oh,

this is a super Champion's final episode. And then I started to become really actually afraid for my safety because Matt has a very big fan base of middle aged women and teen girls, and those are two very scary demographics to to upset, and so between KAKA and when it aired, I was so afraid, Like it made me think of like when Justin Bieber lost the New Artist Ramming and then as were also Spaulding who won, Like Justin Bieber's fans

were like going into her Wikipedia page and say like, who even is this woman? So I was like, I don't know what they're gonna do to me, but nobody did anything. Mean, it was all great, Like, yeah, it was. It was exciting to be part of such a It was also real experience to be a part of the game where like one super Champion had his last game and like it launched another super that you played. That you played both of them and you're the most memorable games, like

you're part of Jeopardy lore. Yeah, and then onto the second Chance tournament and all that stuff. It's like both of you. It's these stories are just so great to listen to it because it is it's part of Jeopardy history and for all of us that love the show that you're a part of that will live on for for years and years. It's so it's so lovely. Yeah, well, I mean to have that experience and it's a show that I've loved for so many years, is you know, it's it's just that

much better for me. Yeah. And that you beat Madam Odio, you beat him, you can say you beat one game, you beat score. That's pretty cool. I had a higher score than him, But you know, I I did not mind losing to Jonathan. That's it would not be embarrassing to lose to either of them. Tremendous because Matt finished with how many thirty eight? Thirty eight? Jonathan had twelve? Eleven? I think yeah, so it was like thirty eight and eleven and you played both insane.

It's insane, it's crazy. Rowan, How about you? What was your was journey like to get on the show and then what happened when you when you finally made it to the Alex Trebek stage. Well, like Jessica, I've been watching it since I was a kid. I remember, you know, I was very young elementary school, and I liked to watch Jeffardy. I would get a calculator out of the junk drawer and calculate my score, give myself points for stuff I knew, so tracked if I said something out

loud and it turned out to be wrong. I've been playing along since I was a kid. But dinner always had to be over because my father did not like Jeffardy, and so we would have Peter Jennings World News Tonight on and if if dinner was over, I could go to the other or other room and watch Jeffardy. If it was not you know, there'd be h this is Jeopardy, And every time my father would be like, no, it's nine, take up the remote and change the channel to like Access Hollywood

or Inside Edition or whatever. Oh no, and I would not get to watch Jeopardy that day. So yeah, I've been watching Jeopardy since I was a kid, and just it always looked like it would be so much fun to be on. I never actually tried out for it, Like, I wasn't quite sure how I could. I never caught the information on TV enough to apply for like teen tournament or even you know, just had too much

going on, didn't apply for in college. But like, once I was out of school, I started taking the online test and I got called for quite a few in persons. Actually, I was called for an in person in two thousand and nine, two thousand and fourteen, twenty seventeen, and two thousand nineteen, And it became a running joke between me and my friend Kevin, who's been a friend of mine since college. He had taken as

many online tests as I had. After we finished taking the online tests, we'd usually get together afterwards and just kind of debrief with what we had just gone through and we'd always both do about the same on them, but I kept getting called for tryouts, and Kevin's like, oh my goodness, when are they gonna call me? When are they gonna call me? And then in two thousand nineteen, I get called for my four or I say called, it's an email at that time, but I get asked to my fourth

in person, and Kevin's like, not again. And then the next week he gets an email for one that same weekend in Chicago, and so he does his in person that Friday. I do it on Saturday, and funny enough, despite the fact that I'd gotten all of these in persons, he gets the call first. He tapes in February of twenty twenty and actually ends up being Unfortunately he didn't win, but he was in Sarah Jett Rayburn's last game and he was actually in the lead going into Final Jeopardy, but unfortunately

he didn't know. It was also hilarious about that game. It's like I knew Kevin in college. I knew Jesse, the guy who beat Sarah Jett Rayburn. I mean, like Jesse and I weren't close or anything, but we lived in the same dorm and we like, we're on the same scav Hunt team, that sort of thing. They both went to University of Chicago. They were both the same year. I didn't know each other. They didn't meet until the Jeopardy set that day. That's crazy. Yeah, Sarah

Jett was. Yeah, she came on our show and it's just what a one. Oh I love Sarah. Sarah's great. Yeah. But yeah, So so he got called on and then I do end up getting the call in April of twenty twenty one. So it was twenty months after my fourth in person audition. Good lord, because they say it's usually eighteen. It must like it must have told some for COVID, because it was twenty months

after my fourth in person and so I taped in. It was May fourth, And what was funny is I was going to take the Jeopardy test again, and I had told myself, Okay, let's get through the Triple Crown season because the Triple Crown season is very busy for work, and then I will take the Anytime test once the Belmont is over. And what happens.

They called me. I believe it was April twelfth. They want me to take May fourth, the Tuesday after the Kentucky Derby, so that's it was also opening weekend at Arlington because twenty twenty one was the last year of Arlington Racetrack, and so I was calling charts there and so before opening day I had to go out and get a COVID test before I could fly out. And then that Sunday I'm packing. The Monday I fly out, I tape and nobody knew who Ademodia was at that point, none of his episodes had

begun to air. But we find out what's going on, and when we show up and we're all talking to each other, and then we go into a wheel of fortune to get sort of the rundown of okay, here's kind of what you need to know. And someone asks, hey, who's the returning champion, and so it's like, can you can the returning champion? Please raise your hand? And the quiet guy in the back, who hadn't said a word all day, sheepishly raises a hand. Now many games have

you won? Thirteen? And I am waiting for somebody to start laughing, to break the ice, and then I realized, oh no, we have a bona fide super champ on our hands. And I could feel the mood in the room just deflate. But I'm like, no, I am not going to allow this to deflate. I have waited too long, I have tried too hard. I'm gonna come here. I'm gonna play the game that I know I'm capable of playing, and let's see how it goes. And then I'm the Friday episode, so I have the entire day to watch while

everybody like watch while everybody else plays. And I actually really liked being Friday because I could watch. I could sort of I was like pretending to buzz while I'm sitting in the audience, just to kind of stay in the rhythm. And also, since this was guest host of Palooza anyway, Joe Buck only hosted that one week, and so I had the four games to like get used to Joe Buck's rhythm before I had to go down and play. And then, of course, you know, it went very fast. The

Jeopardy blur happened, but I was very pleased. I was the first person to be ahead of Matt at the end of the Jeopardy round during his run because it was his eighteenth game, and you know, unfortunately, in the double Jeopardy round he hit a daily double that he knew would have liked that daily double. I knew that one too. I hit a daily double that I did not know, but you know, I stand behind my bet.

That was not my true daily double. I had a true daily double in the first round, but not in the second round because I'm like, okay, there it was the last daily double. There was little enough left on the board that it's like, Okay, I want to get big enough that I can take the lead if I hit it, but I don't want to be guaranteeing myself to be locked out if I lose. And when all of a sudden done, I had exactly half of matamodios score going into final.

I had thirteen thousand, six hundred. Matt had twenty seven two. And you know, I was pretty pleased because it's like, Okay, this is the most no brainer Benning scenario and all a Jeopardy. You're going into final second place in a lock tie. Yes, shove it all in. It's

the only bet. And unfortunately I didn't know final, but you know, I feel like I it was fun to kind of have Matt on the run for that game and kind of the entertaining epilogue at the end of the game is afterwards, a couple of us, not Matt, but like a couple of us from the tape day met for some drinks at the backstage, like that little dive bar across the street from the set. They had like a

little beer garden in the back. And I'm walking over with Eric, who was the third contestant on the episode with me and Matt, and he's apologizing to me for finishing second because he bet nothing on Final Jeopardy and you know, was playing for a second if I crashed in burn and I crashed in Burn, and it's like, no, you have nothing to apologize for. You made the right vet. Yeah, that's just how it goes, like you bet right. Yeah. Love that the both of you got that second

chance. And for people that don't know that, for the first time ever, last year, Jeopardy Hell the Second Chance Tournament because there was this kind of this long stretch where now the Tournament of Champions is definitely going to be every year, it's an annual event, but it was kind of this long stretch where it was like almost a year and a half and they had all these super champions and stuff, so they had so many contestants that had really

great games and lost in Final Jeopardy or just on a daily double or whatever that they asked back in the Second Chance Tournament that you both were a part of them. We're going to talk about more of that coming up, but just so wonderful that you got to come back to the stage. It wasn't just a one and done. It was definitely more than a one and done. And we'll talk all about that coming up after the next around, But thank you so much for those stories that just I can. I could sit

here all day drink it up, drink it up. It's so fun. It is eight to four after one as we head into around two. Round two Culture grab Bag today. First time we're kind of doing this. It's a music and comedy round, kind of a melding of the two things, comedy and music. There are eight questions in this round. Here, Who's question number one? Besides Andy Samberg, can you name either of the other two members of the Lonely Island that gave us such jams as I'm on a

Boat, Dick in a Box and Jack Sparrow? Can you name either of the other two gents that are part of the Lonely Island besides mister Andy Samberg again they Lonely Island. They gave us such jams as I'm on a boat, Dick in a Box, Jack Sparrow, many many others. Last names will suffice for question number one, All right, where were we? Question number two? I think you guys, I think I think we'll have an upper hand on question number two? What game show announcer lends his voice to

weird Al's parody tune I lost Jeopardy? I lost on Jeopardy? What game show announcer from back in the day lends his voice to weird Al's parody tune I lost on Jeopardy? All right, here we go. Question number three. Ricky Lindholme and Kate mccouchee make up what folk comedy duo that take their names from two other real life musical duos. Ricky Lindholme and Kate mccouche make up what folk comedy duo? And they take their name from the names of

two other real life duos. Question number four, we're going back to I think it was around nineteen eighty two Eddie Murphy and Joe Piscopo portrayed what two music legends while recording a more to the point version of Ebony and Ivory In a famous SNL skit, Eddie Murphy and Joe Piscopo portrayed what two music legends while recording a more to the point version of Ebony and Ivory in a famous SNL skit Again, I think it was around nineteen eighty two. All right,

question number five, here we go. We're on the back half of your pop culture grab bag. This is a music and comedy round. Question number five goes like this, in what sketch show would you find a Brian Wilson parody sketch about a character named Willips Brighton and an R and B duo with the excellent name three times one minus one name that sketch show? And what sketch show would you find a Brian Wilson parody sketch about a character named

Willips Brighton who likes to sing about a mouthful of sores. But it's your point if we sing that one, yeah, and you know what I will say while Rowin's thinking that that song is actually really autobiographical, it's it's it's one of my favorite things of all time. I yeah, Willips Brighton is one of my favorite names, like fake names of all time or parody names. And then the R and B duo's name again is three times one minus one. All right, moving right along question number six, what in Living

Color member portrayed both Crystal Waters and Tracy Chapman? Very funny in what Living Color member portrayed both Crystal Waters back in the day that dates this a little bit, and Tracy Chapman named that in Living Color Member for question number six, all right, we're down to our penultimate question in the grab bag. What member of Monty Python penned the song always look on the Bright Side of Life that ends the film Life of Brian? And what Beatle was an executive

producer of the same film? Kind of a two parter for question number seven, what member of Monty Python penned the song always look on the Bright Side of Life that ends the film The Life of Brian? And what Beatle was famously an executive producer of the same film. Kind of saved the film with some monetary backing. And here we are question number eight, Question number eight of eight in Your Music and Comedy grab Bag, Gretchen Lieberum and Maya Rudolf

perform at as what for real Prince Cover Band? They have a prince cover band? Can you name it? Gretchen Lieberum and the famous Maya Rudolf perform as what for real Prince Cover Band. I have not seen them live, but I've had friends see them and they say they are extraordinary, like it's really really good. Pencils down, Let's go over our answers for the pop culture grab Bag today. It was a music and comedy round. Haven't done

this before, but let's see how we do. Question number one? Besides Andy Samberg, can you name either of the other two members of the Lonely Island that gave us such jams as I'm on a boat, Dick in a Box and Jack sparrow rowand start us off? For number one? Well, I had no idea. I know they took Tea paint on the boat instead of one of their regular members, but I literally just had to go with a Lucky Johnson because I don't know anything. Great. Guess, Jessica,

what did you put for number one? Well? I put Jorma and Akiva. I can't remember their last names, but I also wrote you can't really tell on zoom but I wrote a personal apology to Joanna Newsome, who is married to Andy Samberg, because that's the only other person involved in this whose last name I could remember. Jessica, I'm going to give you the point because you got You gave me both of their first names. Okay, so that equals one last name is both first names. You have Akiva Shaffer and

you have a Jorma Tacone or Jorma Tacone. Wow. And I'm going to choose to interpret that that moment as Joanna Newsome benevolently well done. That is a tough question. Everyone knows Andy. They forget about that. The other two that write a lot of that stuff, and those guys have gone on to write and direct a ton of stuff as well. Yeah. Question number two, what game show announcer lends his voice to weird Al's parody tune I lost on Jeopardy, Jessica, I wasn't sure on this one, so I

put down the Wink Martindale just because his first name is Wink. It's a good name. One of the greatest game show on our posts names of all time. Wink Martindale, Rohan, what did you put for number two? Funny that you mentioned. I lost on Jeopardy because there was actually a clue about that song in my initial episode against Matamodio. Wow, Matt beat me

to the buzzer on it, which I was a little salty about. But you know, I got my redemption in second Chance because there was a Daniel Radcliffe video category and I got the question about weird nice that said do I know who did that segment? No, I'm like trying to think through it. I couldn't place the voice, so I'm like, okay, who's an old school game show announcer? Rod Roddy, Sure, Roddy, Yes, come on down. He also did. He also did press your Luck.

Yeah, that with that sequin jackets and everything and es this this person we love, we love Johnny Gilbert. He's been the Jeopardy announcer for for many, many years. But before him from nineteen sixty four to nineteen seventy five, as well as doing announcing for so many other shows, is Don Pardo. Don Pardo, of course, Don Pardo. If you listen to the song, he does the segments where he's like, you're a loser, you don't get the turtle wax, you don't get anything. You lost. Yeah,

that's that's the most beliefable thing I've learned today. I can very easily imagine. I don't think I've listened to that song. Listen to the song. I mean the original song. The real song is a great song, great eighty song. And then the parody is so funny. But the bit at the end where Don Pardo is kind of ripping weird Alda shreds is pretty hilarious. It's so good, and I was thinking of it in my head. I'm like, I don't know whose voice this is? Yeah, and

now now you'll never forget that's one of them. It's not going forward. You're like, it's Don Pardo. Question number three, Ricky lynd Home and Kate mccouchee make up what folk comedy duo that take their names from two other real life musical duo's rowing It took a minute to pull, but I'm like, oh wait, I think this is Garfuncle and Oates, Garfunkele and Oates, Jessica, what did you put? I also put Garfuncle and Oates in

that order. I don't know which which actor is which? Yeah, yeah, I would assume Ricky is Garfuncle because she's taller and blond and yeah, shorter and as a brunette. But yeah from Simon and Garfuncle and Hall and

Oates, it is Garfunkele and oh it's very funny comedy duo there. Question number four, Eddie Murphy and Joe Piscopo portrayed what two music legends while recording a more to the point version of Ebony and Ivory in a famous SNL sketch, Jessica, I put Stevie Wonder and Frank Sinatra and I still can hear in my head Joe Piscopo singing, you were blind as a bat and I have sight h rowan. What did you put for number four? I wasn't quite sure. He did Ebony and Ivory, I said, Stevie Wonder and

Paul McCartney. Yes, that's that's the ones that did the very the real Ebony and Ivory song. But the sketch on SNL was Joe Piscopo playing old blue eyes doing nothing duets with with with fresher musicians because he was kind of long in the tooth and he wanted to make songs for the kids, you know, the kids, to make it make mee like I'm gonna still be cool in nineteen eighty two. Yeah, and the portrait was like part Frank

Sinatra and like mostly Chicago gangster from the nineteen twenties. Eddie Murphy what I think A lot of people forget about him? Of course, he's one of the funniest comedians and actors we've ever we've ever had. When he sings, when he's sang like James Brown, when he sings like Stevie Wonder, his impersonation is impeccable. It is so brilliant and so real and so good,

and he's an excellent singer. He's kind of like Jamie Fox when Jamie FOXX, you know, did ray Or sings like other people who are like good. Look, the talent of Eddie Murphy I think is still mind blowing. And he's he's still regarded as the greatest SNL performer, and it's like, yeah, it's kind of hard to argue. He's unbelievable. Where were we? Question number five is a fun one in What Sketch Show? Would you

find? A Brian Wilson parody sketch about a character named Willips Brighton and an R and B duo three times one minus one Rowan, did it come to you? Oh no, I'm is really like I didn't know either of those sketches. We all know, how Like we're starting to figure out how much sketch comedy I watched in the nineties, which was not much, unfortunately, So I just guess a guest a sketch comedy show and went with mad TV. Great guess, mad TV, Great show. Jessica, what did you

put for number five? I've found a show that probably is the only other show in the running for Getting a Tattoo besides Jeffrey, which I did reference earlier Getting I's a Mister Show, which I adore, Like you know, as soon as you mentioned that sketch, I just started remembering It's It's also kind of a parody of Eric Clapton at the time, but it had like Jerry Messing in it, who I adore. You can go down a lot

of rabbit holes. He just seems like the sweetest little kid. I mean, he's probably like older than me, But I adore Mister Show and it's spiritual predecessor the Ben Stiller Show. And I didn't answer any question you have about here. I do. I still regard it as the greatest sketch show of all time from hp OH, it was Mister Show with Bob and David. Bob David Cross quest gen number six. We're having a great time here.

Question number six, what in Living Color member portrayed both Crystal Waters and Tracy Chapman. Jessica, that was That was Kim Wayan's. I'm surprised she didn't say on this one that last name alone is acceptable, But I believe it's Kim Wayne's, Kim Wayan's Rowan. What did you put? I also said Kim Wayan's I've never seen the show, but I knew it was a Wayan's joint and Kim is the only famous female Wayans. Yeah, that's a good that's a good guess. The correct answer is one of the Wayans is

as it is, Kim Wayan's very funny woman. Kim Wayan's for number six. Number seven was kind of a two parter. What member of Monty Python Penn the song always Look on the Bright Side of Life? That ends the film The Life of Brian and what Beetle was an executive producer of the same film, Rohan, What did you put for number seven? Well, I'm not a very nice guy. So I started throwing darts at Monty Python, and I started throwing darts at the Beatles, and I apologized to Eric Idle

and Ringo Star, but my darts landed on you. Those are great guesses, Eric Idle and Ringo Star. Jessica, do you agree with that? Well, I put Eric Idle, I mean, I know that's the first part, but I had no idea on the beetle. I guess Paul McCartney because he's He's said in interviews that he is the funny Beetle, so it just seemed most likely great guesses. You're both correct on the Monty Python person. It is Eric Idol, who did a lot of the music for Monty

Python. I thought you were revealing that Ringo Star and Paul McCartney are the same person. They have been wearing a very long trench coat for quite some time. Sa the beatle that kind of saved the day and was an executive producer. If you watched the documentary about this Beatle over the last few years, you maybe saw this part of his documentary. It is George Harrison.

George Harrison was friends with the Monty Python fellas and kind of vacationed with them and kind of saved the day when they were hard up for George Harrison created a thing. You might see it for some famous films back in the day. Handmade Films is George Harrison's production company, Handmade Films. Finally, question number eight, Gretchen Lieberum and Maya Rudolph perform as what for real Prince cover band? Jessica, I have no idea, but I was like, well,

what's my Prince knowledge? So I thought it might be fitting if I were starting a cover band with another woman, for earning to be diamond and pearl, Oh, diamonds and pearls or diamond and pearl. That is a fantastic guests using your noggin, rowan what you put well? I also had no idea. I know that Prince in the New Power Generation was a thing, so I figured they were the brand staking New Power Generation. Oh my gosh, you know what, I'm gonna give you each a point be just

because those answers are wonderful and you deserve a point for your ingenuity. Those are fantastic. You're both getting a point for that one. The correct answer, just so you know, going forward very easier and simpler than anything. Since there's two ladies, they just go by as Princess. Princess is the name of that wonderful I've heard. They are very excellent Prince cover band called Princess. We have a score update. Oh it's getting real good, right.

We have Jessica Stevens in double digits with ten points and Rowan Ward with eleven. It's eleven to ten at halftime. It is eleven to ten at halftime. Rowan's in the lead by the slimmest of margins. We are playing with Rowan Ward. You can follow them on Instagram and Twitter at Rogue Clown and on Facebook just look up Rowan Ward. They're playing for the charity Cantor Chicago. And then we're also here with Jessica Stevens. You can follow her

on Instagram and Twitter at jess m Stevens. She is playing for the charity Doctors Without a Borders. Before we move on to our third round, let's talk a little bit about the Second Chance Tournament. It was the first time that they let some players that played well. Originally they gave him a second chance to play in a tournament, and the winners of the Second Chance tournament even two people would advance to the Tournament of Champions last year, which you

both did. So let's talk about the Second Chance Tournament. Rowan start us off. What was it like for you to be in the Second Chance Tournament. I was so excited. I mean I remember the day that they are now second Chance and the news actually came out on a Wednesday afternoon. And I know it was a Wednesday afternoon because I was playing okl UK and I we finished up the game and one of my teammates at the time was Andy Saunders, who writes the Jeoffardy Fan and he was supposed to play both the

league match and the friendly. We had a few minutes before the friendly, but then you know, Andy looks at the stuff, looks at the screen and goes, I'm sorry, there's been some news I have to go and drops off the zoom and I'm like, oh, dear, like what just happened? And we had a little time. So I looked at my messages and my Facebook messages, my Twitter messages. Everything had been blown up with friends of mine being like, did you see what Jeffardy just announced? Oh

my goodness, they have to call you for it. Blah. Blah blah, and it's like, one, this is exciting, but to hold your horses, there's only a few people that they call back for it, So it's like I didn't want to hang my hat on it. On the other hand, it's like I knew I had a decent shot, and I'm just like, Okay, I played so much trivia already that I'm just gonna start

studying for it now. And this was like February because worst case scenario, they don't call me, and o'darn I know more for learned, lego QL, what have you. And if they call me, I'll have a had start. And then you know, they did at the beginning of June, and it was just like it was a dream come true all over again.

And like I feel like even like it was, it was a second chance in so many ways, like wanted to just be back on the show, because that's just not how Jeopardy ever worked before, Like no matter what, no matter how well you played, if you didn't win, you didn't get

to play again. And then also, you know, in twenty twenty one, I had earlier that year, I had like started telling some very close friends of mine to call me Rowan instead of by my birth name, and because I knew that's something that I'd wanted to change for a really long time. And then when they called me to be on Jeopardy, I'm just like, I have so much going on right now, I can't, like, I don't want to talk to Jeopardy about like asking me to be called something

that's totally not my legal name. I don't want to deal with having like a deadline for telling literally everybody to be this air date. So it's like I put that on the back burner for a few more months, and then I finally the end of two thousand and one was when I told, you know, told everybody no like call me Rowan, like I'm changing my name. Actually used my third Place check to pay for my name change and like getting my new like ID and just changing everything around. So that was pretty

great. So then just coming back for a second chance suddenly was a chance to try to play Jeopardy again and hope it goes a little better than that time against Mademodio. But also it was a time I could go back and be like out in front of everybody playing Jeffardy as my real self and every possible word that is one of the greatest stories I've heard. Just that means, that means everything. Thank you for sharing that. That is just one

of the most beautiful things we've ever heard on the show. So thank you for sharing that. Jessica, what was it like for you on the on the Second Chance Tourney? It was The taking part itself was so much fun. It was kind of like a sorority a fraternity reunion, although like I've never been in a sorority affraternity, but it was, you know, being there with people who, even if you hadn't met them in person, you knew who they were. Was really it was so much more fun than I

was expecting, and I was expecting it to be fun. Actually, like hearing about the tournament itself was kind of funny because I the so Mike Davis when he wrote the blog post. I think that was like in February, it was too and he had named me because my first episode happened to be his first episode and I didn't see that blog post when it went live, and you know, people at Jeopardy had contacted me to let me know,

like, your name is going to be in this blog post. But those were from numbers that I hadn't interacted with before, so I didn't see them on my phone. At first. I was just charging my car battery and had gone dead, and while I was waiting for it to charge, I was like, I'm just gonna see what's going on on Twitter, and people were tagging me and justice for Jessica because it had announcement had just gone out.

So first of all, there was never injustice for Jessica, Like I had never thought of it as a matter of like, oh, I deserve a second chance, because I knew when I went the first time, you get one shot, that's that, you know, As I said, I wouldn't have agreed to go on the show if I didn't know. I'm emotionally okay with using my first game, so you know, to go from you know, before you even playing that game, accepting having lost it, to

all of a sudden like, oh now there's this new tournament. You're listed in the blog post announcing the tournament like it was really it was a surreal level of positive attention and it kind of I mean, I said to Karina at Jeopardy who called me to announce to like this kind of feels like something a child would imagine like would fantasize about like this show created a new tournament and even though I couldn't go back and play before, now I can go

back and play. And so that like, honestly, that made it feel unreal to me because it sounds like something child would make us. It is like out of a dream to read a post even to say like, yeah, Jessica Stevens, is the is the like the catalyst for why we should have this or something? You're like yeah, what like me like, yeah, oh my god, that you both that you both went on to win your weeks of the Second Chance Tournament because it was two weeks, and then

you went on to get to play in the Tournament of Champions. We will talk all about the t o C after the next round, but just incredible, this is so fun. Again, we're here with Rowan Ward Jessica Stevens. It's a one point game as we head into our third of four rounds today Round three, the Lightning round. So Jessica, you are trailing,

so you get to choose first from the Lightning round categories. Again, these category headings have nothing to do with the questions nor the answers, but you could choose today from either go into a used bookstore, the local record shop, or a vintage toy store. Name your poison, Jessica. I'm gonna honor fourth grade Jessica, and choose the bookstore. Going to the bookstore. All right, here is your lightning round bookstore question. I'm gonna repeat this

question twice. I'm gonna say go and hit the button. You're gonna have twenty seconds to give me as many answers as possible, so it's better to just free associate and say as many things as possible. Rowan you want to sit tight, maybe jot some answers down for your five second robottal, which

happens straight away. Here is your used bookstore question. Name the nine first ladies of the United States, And FYI, some presidents had more than one, so i'll accept you know more than one answer for a few of these. Name the first nine or the nine first ladies of these here, United

States, twenty seconds on the clock and a go. Martha Washington, Abigail Adams, Martha Jefferson, Millennia Trump, Michelle Obama, Laura Bush, Barbara Bush, Hillary Clinton, Nancy Reagan, uh Roslyn Carter, eleanor Roosevelt. St stop, stop, stop stop. You got the first three. I don't know if you misheard me, but I said the first nine or the nine first first lady, Oh no, okay, yes, I did miss here, and that's that's fine. That's okay because you nailed the first three.

You got the first three straight away, your five second rebuttal uh rowan to get some more on the board. First first nine, Ladies of the United States, and go Dolly Madison, Rachel Jackson, Louise Adams, stop stop stop. It's tough. It's a tough one. It's a tough one. I would have accepted Sally Hemmings as well. For t J. You got Dolly Madison. It's Louisa. But I'll give it to you Louise, Louisa. It's a good name. Yeah, it's very good. I like

I like Louisa. We got to give that a point. Anytime Louisa comes up, we gotta give it a point. Number five Elizabeth Monroe, which I didn't know. That's a deep cut, Elizabeth Rowe. Okay, b uh. Number seven Emily or Sarah for Andrew Jackson, Sarah for Martin Van Buren, and then nine Anna or Jane for number nine. It was tough. That's a tough one. There. There is a Sarah Jackson plaque outside my workplace in Tennessee, and so it's only been good. I think Rachel

Jackson was the wife of Andrew Jackson who died before he took off. Maybe that's what it was familiar. Yeah, that's another one. That's a that's a soap opera of a story. Yeah, Sarah Jackson and what you both did very well. You got five out of the nine of that very tough one for the US. The bookstore. Now it's your turn rowing for your chance. You could choose either the local record shop or a vintage toy store.

Oh my goodness. I love toys and I love music, but I'm feeling drawn to the toys today, so let's do toys, all right. The local record shop was kind of a television question. That'll just go back into the hopper for a future game. Here's your question again. I'll repeat it twice. I'll say, go hit the button. I'll have twenty seconds to give me as many answers as possible. Jessica, sit tight and dropped some answers down, because I'm coming to you for your five second bottle straight

away. Here is your question in the vintage toy store. Other than Toronto, Ontario, name the other nine capital cities of Canadian provinces, not the territories, but Canadian provinces, the capital cities of twenty seconds on the clock and go Charlotte, tun Prince Centered Island, Victoria, British Columbia, Regina, Saskatchewan, Alberta, Edmonton, Alberta. Oh, my goodness, one of the other ones, Monkton, Fredericton, Saint John Stop. Stop,

you got Saint John's just under the wire. You got one, two, three, four, five, You got six out of the nine you got Fredericton, New Brunswick, Victoria, British Columbia, Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Regina, Saskatchewan, Edmonton, Alberta, and Saint John's which is the capital of Newfoundland and Labrador. There's still three on the board for Jessica, your five second rebuttal the besides Toronto, Ontario, named the other nine capitals

of Canadian provinces five seconds onto clock and go Winnipeg. Oh god, what's for one? Montreal? Stop? You got Winnipeg, you got Manitoba, Winnipeg is the capital city of Manta. I forgot about Halifax, Nova Scotia. I know I missed that one. Good one. How Quebec City is the capital of Quebec. Yeah, you said Montreal, but it is. Quebec City is the capital city Quebec. Quebec City, Quebec gets off. It's often forgotten about it. I feel like Montreal gets all the love in.

I want to say a personal apology to Leanna's Morrisett. I'm very sorry, might because I know that she's also She just texted that she accepts your apology. Okay, thank you, liv fantastic. Well that was your lightning round. We have a scoreboard update after three Jessica Stevens with fourteen big points and Rowan Ward in the lead with nineteen. It's nineteen to fourteen after the lightning around. We are playing with Rowan Ward. You can follow them on

Instagram and Twitter at Rogue Clown and on Facebook. Is Rowan Ward playing four Cantor Chicago and Jessica Stevens on Instagram and Twitter at jess m Stevens playing for Doctors Without Borders. It's a five point game and before we head into our fourth and final round between you two champs. Let's talk about the TC any stories. I know one of you has gotten a tattoo that we can talk about, but anything else about the t OC that you'd like to talk about,

Jesse, if you want to start us off. I'm just trying to think of like Dirt, who's who's not the same behind the scenes still the tea. The two people who I would say are the most different on in person from on screen are probably Sam Butchery because he has more energy off camera if you can look, he is just constantly cutting up. I know that. Like he you know, he doesn't go upstairs one spirit at a time. He will he'll jump over a world of chairs if he needs to to

get to where he's going. And backstage, like with Sam Butchery when he's like okay, wrong answers only he he's constantly cutting up. Just a sweet which you know that that's what you see him on screen, but it is.

He's constantly trying to make the people around him very happy. But for the most part, like everyone you see is they're so friendly outside and we're all in a room together because like we love learning about things so much that like we got to a game shows tournament of champions for it, like, you know, of course everyone's gonna get along and it was a big love fest. But it was a rowdy love fest. What was it like for you? Oh? For me? Yeah, Oh, I mean it's we've

already talked about it so much. I mean I felt a lot the same as Jessica. It was just this, you know it. The Jeopardy Summer camp kept going, but I feel like it even intensified. Like I loved my Second Chance crew, but I feel like the TOC crew was like even more just close knit, and we also had more time to spend with each

other because it was more than one tape day had you know. Well, Jessica and I were there through the weekend and then everyone started showing up Saturday night and Sunday, you know, and it was just so fun to get to know the people who I hadn't met, which was most of the people I had not met in person. I think the only I had you talked

to quite a few of them online. The only person I had met in person before TOC was Brian Chang because we're both in Chicago, so we actually had done some of re craining together while I was getting ready for a second chance, and he was praying for toc But it was just and Christine welchil.

I'd met Christine Welchell. Actually we had been on a trivia team together the day before Geek Bowl in twenty twenty, so so it was like I'd met the two of them in person, but everybody else that was just so nice to meet and hang out and it was absurd, like I never dreamed in a million years, Like I thought it would be really fun, like

oh, playing in the Jefardy Tournament of Champions would be really fun. And then of course I was like, well, it's not gonna happen after I lost him Adamodio, and to kind of have it happened so quickly and just go from it's a dream to oh my goodness, I'm here, and then just get to meet everybody and have everyone be so much fun and so good

to spend the entire week with, just like I I want to. I want to live it all over again, and I know I'll never get to live it all over again, but I want to because it was the best. Should get a tattoo, Yeah, you should get it, like Jessica's got a test. I absolutely do want a Jeopardy tattoo. That's I think what's great about everything is is your group, any of these groups from the

Tournament of Champions. But there's just this really cool sorority fraternity of contestants that have been on the show, which I didn't know of until after the fact, And it's just one of the greatest things about the shows that I've befriended and become decent pals through social media or whatever, the podcast or anything with all of these people, and it's like, haven't met a d bag yet, Like these are just really lovely, nice people that happen to really love

reading and learning things and playing trivia and stuff like that, and it's just it's I think we're all very lucky to get It's so cool. Yes, well, thanks so much for regaling us with all of those stories. We got one more round lap at nineteen to fourteen as we head into our fourth and final round between you two. Round four, the Double Duty. We call it the Double Duty because points are doubled and there are nine questions in

this round, so there are eighteen points up for grabs today. Your Double Duty Radcliff round category is mythology first time. We're doing a mythology category for round four nine questions. Here is question number one. What Hindu god of good luck has the head of an elephant? Name the Hindu god of good luck that has the head of an elephant? For question number one, all right? Moving along to question number two. Kind of a math and mythology

question pathology? Yeah, it's mathology copyright pending. We'll see if you added the number of furies, graces, and fates, would that be less than equal to or greater than the number of muses? If you added the number of furies, graces, and fates, would that be less than equal to or greater than the number of muses? For question number two? All right? Question number three? What Egyptian goddess created the Nile River with her tears?

In Egyptian mythology? What Egyptian goddess created the Nile River with her tears? For question number three? All right? Question number four who was created by Hephaestos or Hephaestus and is considered the first woman? Who was created by Hephaestos h aph a E. S T O s And is considered the first woman? For question number four In your mythology? Double duty Radcliffe round, all right. Number five. Here is number five. We're going Norse.

For number five, Name the sun slash wolf of Loki in Norse mythology. It's the sun slash wolf that's strange in itself of Loki in Norse mythology. Do you need a hint on that one? Or no? I would take the hint, as would I. It starts with the letter F for not your f. Name the sun slash wolf of Loki in Norse mythology, starting with the letter F pheasant frank all right, Here we are question number six of nine. What is the name of the half man half goat that like

to pall around with Dionysus and or Bacchus. What is the name of the half man half goat we call those creatures that like to pall around with a Dionysus for number six. So the name of the kind of creature, not the names of not like. It's not like Steve. All my favorite mythological characters are named Steve. It's a good name, all right. Question number seven. We're down to our final three questions between Rowan Ward and Jessica Stevens.

Here is question number seven. Name the two three letter named Egyptian god and goddess that represent the earth and sky. Both of the Egyptian god and goddess they have three letter names. Can you name both of them that represent the earth and sky in Egyptian mythology? Blank and blank? Three letter names? And then there were two two questions left. Here is question number eight. Buddha is the ninth avatar of what Hindu preserver deity? Bood is the

ninth avatar of what Hindu preserver deity? For question number eight? And finally it could come down to this question number nine. Sleep Near that's spelled s l e I p n i r is a magical horse in Norse mythology and has how many legs? Slap Near is a magical horse in Norse mythology and has how many legs? I had to throw in one horse question during this whole Well, I'm happy for the horse question in two. On the wolf question earlier, my thought was, and why are you asking about wolves and

not about sleep Near? So pencils down. Let's go over our answers for the double duty Radcliff round. First time ever, we're doing a mythology category and it kind of roams all over the place. Starting with question number one of nine was what Hindu god of good luck has the head of an elephant? Jessica, what did you put for number one? I played Ganesh, and I do. I try to understand different world religions and mythologies, but I need to give up credit on this one for having the little Ganesh in

his store and the Simpsons. Wherever you can get that info, take it and run with it. Rowan, what did you put for number one? I was pretty certain when you said luck. I was completely certain when you said elephant. It's Ganesh. It is Ganesh, the Hindoo god of good luck that has the head of an elephant. It is Ganesh for number one. Question number two, if you added the number of furies, graces, and fates, would that be less than equal to or greater than the number

of muses? Rowan? This one I wasn't completely sure on fates. I know there are three graces. I want to say there are three. I mean, maybe there are four, like there is a racehorse named four Graces. But for whatever reason, I think there are three in mythology, and that's when we get a little questionable muses. I can't remember if there are seven or nine furies. I couldn't remember if there were three or more than three. I decided to play my probabilities, and I guessed greater than greater,

So furies, graces, and fates, greater than muses. It's greater than great guests. Jessica, what did you put for number two? I also wasn't sure about the number of graces, but I'm pretty sure the other two. I think this was a trinity of threes, and I think there are nine muses. So I played equal two, so we have greater than and then we have equal two. There are three furies, there are three graces, and there are three fates, and there are nine muses, so

it is equal tone He'll played. Jess Shuttle to my mom forgiving me that children's book on Greek mythology. It isn't like the blinding, swallowing apart. I did love reading That's a kid, Thanks Mama. Question number three, What Egyptian god Us created the Nile River with her tears? Jessica. I am afraid to be wrong on this one, but I think it was isis Isis as an Egyptian goddess Rowan. What did you put for number three? My mind went completely blank on Greek or not Greek. My mind completely blank

on Egyptian goddesses. I couldn't get to isis or anything else. I said, hop chepsoot who I am sure as a pharaoh and not a goddess. But I'm like, hmm, maybe she like deified herself like Rod did, or what I mean, the pharaohs did do you by themselves, so she would have like a fake beet, like she would have had to have a fake bear. Yeah, but I'm like, this is this is so wrong, But I wanted to say something. Plus, that name is kind of second to none. It's one of my favorite like names, Like that's a

hell of a name. Yeah, more people should be naming their children. That seriously eats the hell out of Mike Marry. Yeah, my mom named me Jessica because she wanted to give me a name that was not very commons. So yeah, I about that. I could have named you Jennifer. I guess, Okay, not not much better, mom. The answer for number three four letters isis it is done the Egyptian goddess that created the Nile River with her tears? Question number four who was created by he Fastus and

is considered the first woman. ROWING not sure on this, but I guessed Pandora. I thought she was at least an early woman, and I thought maybe the whole, like Pandora's Box story was maybe some kind of analog to like, you know, Eve being the first woman and the snake and original sin and blah blah blah. So I guess Pandora. I like the way you think, Pandora. Jessica, what did you put for number four?

I also guessed Pandora. And I want to give a shout out to a recent book called Pandora's Jar that basically just examines, like what the stories were, how like we understood them, And so it's a chapter by chapter an exploration of different women in myths, but more context, historical contexts and modern context. That's where I learned about Pandora. And that is the correct answer. It is Pandora and her Box created by Hephaestus. For question number four.

Question number five, deep cut Norse mythology named the sun slash Wolf of Loki in Norse mythology. I gave you the hint that it starts with the letter F. Jessica, did you come up with a guest for number five. I mean I came up with a guess, so I wasn't sure what the word would be for wolf that I just thought like, if I were super super Norse, what would I name a wolf? And so I just put I'll spell it. My answer it's f j W O with two dots,

another O with two dots, an L and two f's. That answer deserves a splosh with an extra and sometimes it starts with an F. Oh, so that's true. That's truenous, this one where I want to be right. I wasn't. I want you to be right. No, I wish I were right. Rowan, what did you put for number five? I like Jessica's answer so much better than mine, but it basically boiled down to can I think of something that might be north Smith related that starts with

an F? And eventually my brain shook out the name Fenrier, So I'm guessing Fenrir. The correct answer is fen Rear. Is that wolf? Thank you? I think it eats it eats someone, It eats thor or Odin or one of their kids or something like that. It was a nasty wolf because it related to the Rohan. You're gonna have to let me know how that's spelled, so I can make it my dog's middle f n R I R Y what a doug a significant day in history? Given the middle name

to Louisa. Question number six, what is the name of the half man half goat creature that liked to pile around with Dionysus Rowan? I think half man half goats are called the satters sat y r So that's what I said, Jessica, What did you put for number six? I put Pan. I was also trying to think is it Pan or Satders? But I'm kind of wondering now. Always Pan the name. I don't know. I this is one where where that that book of myths didn't serve me as well.

But I put Pan. Pan is the Yeah, it is the more specific name of the flutist with his pan flute, and he was a satyr. It is a sator. Is the creature that's half man, half goat and there was multiple of them that used to pile around with the drunk Dionysis or backs Satyrs? Yeah s a T y r H. Question number seven named the two three letter named Egyptian god slash goddess that represent the Earth and the

sky blank and blank. Could you come up with that, Jess? Well, I came up with one and two thirds names that have three letters. So Nut is an Egyptian god that has three letters, and I was the only one I could think of. I also put raw, but I'm pretty sure that's actually two letters, right, guess is Rowan? What did you put for number seven? I couldn't think of Nut. I could think of

a different three letter Egyptian deity. I said set, and then I had no idea for the other one, so I said ron r N, which I'm sure is wrong, but I just made it up. I wish there was an Egyptian god just named ron r the answer for number seven. And I'm going to be judicious on this one. I'm actually gonna give Jess a cut one point. You don't get two points. But you did name one of them. You did name Nut. It is Geb or Jeb and Nut. Geb and Nut are the two Earth and Sky. Geb and Nut are

the two Egyptian Earth and sky god got us. So these are also very good names. Yeah, really cool. Yeah, Like Geb sounds like somebody who would be the lead singer on like a nineties band that the other bands listened to it, but regular people don't listen. Yeah, y are you guys listening to geb No? Oh you should? You really should? They're really great. That would be a good prank to start, Like fans of the show and us, we can just like go out and like spread the

word about GiB Oh. Yeah, you got the new Gelboe. We're in on it. It's so good. Question number eight, Buddha is the ninth avatar of what Hindu preserver deity rowan well, Brahma is the creator, Shiva is the stroyer, So that leaves Vishnu as the preserver. And I also know that avatars of Vishnu are a thing. Avatars of Vishnu. Jessica, what did you put for number eight? I knew it would be like a really recognizable Hindu name, and so I relied on George Harrison for this one.

I want with Krishna, I don't know. Krishna and Vishnu both excellent guesses. The correct answer are the avatars of Vishnu. Vishnu is that, thank you preserver deity with Yeah, the many avatars and the Buddha is the ninth one. We finally get down to number nine. Slate Near is a magical horse in Norse mythology that has how many legs is I think it it pulls a chariot across the sky or something like that. Jessica, what do you got for number nine? I'm pretty sure it's some multiple of for I

think it's eight lakes. I'm I'm relying on a children's show called Horrible Histories. I am a child listen and I'm obsessed with the sketch show about history, and they do talk about horse mythology. I think the horse has eight lakes, eight legs. Like, yeah, I will write an angry letter to every cast member on that show. Rowan, what did you put for number nine? I mean all horses are magical. Most horses have four legs, but slip Near has eight. The correct answer is eight legs for these

horse. Oh yeah, Annie was telling us that Fenrier that wolf killed Odin and ate the sun. Unbelievable, delicious. Yeah. We do have a final score between you two, Jessica Stevens with a very impressive twenty five and Rowan Ward with already one. Rowan Ward, you are, in fact the smartest person in the world for one week. Congratulations. Thank you, Thank you. What a game that was fantastic. It's really fun again. We're playing with Rowan Ward and we are happy to make a donation to Canter Chicago.

You are the smartest person in the world for one week and the horses are going to be very happy. Yes for sure. And Jessica Stevens, we're happy to make a donation in your name two Doctors without Borders, that incredible charity. We thank you so much for telling us all these stories about Jeopardy. But the game is not over. The final throwdown. It's time for the final throwdown. This is where Annie jumps back in here our producer, with a one off question. Rowan, You'll get first DIBs at an

answer. I can either go with you or I go my own way, and we'll maybe even let jess throw in an answer here. And then we're gonna all learn a little something something about this question and its answer. So Annie, if you are ready, please unleash hell and let's read this question. The question is where in the world is the world's largest solar power plant located? Where the world is the world's largest solar power plant located? That

is your final throwdown question talk it through. You could just if you have a gut reaction, let me know, but take your time. Let me know when you when you have an answer. All right, Okay, I'm like talking my way around the world, and you know, I think I'm I think I'm actually gonna go with the country who does a lot of building stuff may or may not. I mean, I think they might at least

enough sun to do this. I don't think of them as being super cloudy, and it may be life a little hard to ship other kinds of energy to them. I think I'm just gonna go with Japan. Japan great. Guess I'm gonna go a different way. I don't know if I read about this and I'm like, I think it's something they want to do, so this I could be wrong in my thinking, but I'm not going to be as specific. I think they want to build something huge in the Sahara desert,

like the Sahara Desert. I remember reading like they want to build a like a ginormous one to help in solving like the desertification or whatever they call that of like the expansion of the Sahara. They want to use solar power to make the Sahara smaller and have more land for stuff. So I'm just gonna say the Sahara Desert as just a blanket location for where this is at.

So we have Japan, we have the Sahara. Jessica, did you have any thoughts or ideas I, you know what, like because you've said Sahara, because Rowin has said Japan, and like those bases are covered, I'm gonna go with Brazil. I mean, they have a the rainforest makes me think that maybe it's not they wouldn't really invest a whole lot in solar

energy simply because like the sun might not be reaching the panels. But it's so big and it's so industrialized it and you know, it's so demographically diverse, and yeah, that's really good. I like that. I think we have our bases cover. We have Brazil, we have the Sahara, and we have Japan. Yeah. If I have sat Brazil that I think I would say Mauritania just because, like you know, thinking along the lens of the Sahara and like that is also just a huge, huge country. Yeah.

Yeah, it's a large country that the Sahara is mostly takes up. We're gonna find out we're gonna learn a little bit about this huge solar power plant. So let us know where the hell the solar power plant is. Oh, let's learn. Oh. It is in the country of India, the bod Law Village. Let's learn about this. The Bodla Solar power Plant is situated on fourteen thousand acres of land. It hosts ten million solar panels. The area is considered uninhabitable due to extreme heat, and the panels are

cleaned by robots. Again, that's in India and it's the bod Law Village where the largest solar power plant is. We all learned something that is a clever way to use land. It's too hot to live in.
