over a given period. Question number seven, we have arrived at your penultimate question in the general knowledge round. Can you name the two current senators from the Great state of Wisconsin. I don't even know where Wisconsin is, and you name the two current senators from the Great state of Wisconsin. If you get one, I'll give you a half point. Look, you get them both, you'll get the full big point. The two senators from the cheesehead
state of Wisconsin. For number seven, and finally question number eight of eight, name the famous tryptic oil painting on oak panel by the early Netherlandish master Hieronymous Bosh that lives in the Prato in Madrid, Spain. And for number eight, name the famous tryptic oil painting oak panel by the early Netherlandish master Hieronymous Bosh that's a mouthful that lives in the Prato in Madrid, Spain.
Named that famous artwork for number eight, pencils down, you two. We will go over your answers in just a scoch but it's time to meet our incredible Jeopardy champs all the way from Saint John's, Newfoundland. She is an emergency department psychiatrist, suicide prevention researcher, and associate professor. Her Jeopardy stats she won both the Jeopardy Second Chance and Champions Wild Kind wild Card tournaments and was a TOC participant. Just a few days ago, my new friend,
Juveria za here is here. So nice to be here. This is great. It's so exciting to have you here. You can follow Juveria on social media at Jewveria za here. Juveria what charity are you playing for today? So I am playing for the cam Age Foundation, the Center for Addiction and Mental Health. It's a hospital where I work. I think for a long time, mental health has always lived behind in terms of awareness and funding. And you know, just twenty years ago, people wouldn't put their names on
a building if it was a mental health building or a psychiatric hospital. But I think mental illness affects all of us, and we really want to invest in finding evidence base dignifying humane care for people who are suffering. So pumped to play for the Cambage Foundation. Hell to the Yes, we are happy to make a donation in your name to the cam H Foundation. Win or I lose. And now it's time to meet your opponent. This gent from Camden, the South Cacilac, South Carolina. His JAY stats he was a
four game winner and a TOC semi finalist. He is an episcopal priest. My friend and your friend, David Sibly is here. Hello. Hello. I am so pumped to do this and so pumped to get my ask by Javeria again as was commonplace, and getting ready for the TOC. It's going to be fun. Yeah, it's becoming a thing that you get your ass handed to you by Juveria. On a regular basis. You could follow David Sibley on social media at David Sibley on Blue Sky and at Sibley DC on
the Instagram. David, what charity are you playing for today? I am playing for Hope Street. And I can actually look out the window of my office where I'm taping this podcast, and there is a house where in olden times I would live as the priest of this church. But when I came to this church that the house was not so hot, and they told me I couldn't live there, and I said, okay, I won't live there then, and they said, well, what if we were able to give
it to a charity to do something cool? And I sort of said, well, as long as it isn't a hell hole and is made into this nice place, and let's do it. And so Hope Street is the charity that came in. We gave them the use of a house rent free for ten years, and they hustled and worked their tails off, completely renovated it and have made it into a sober living home for women who are recovering from
substance abuse addiction. So folks come out of acute rehab and then they live in the house that used to be the priest's house at my church where they have an in house rehabilitation coordinator and this beautiful, beautiful place to live in a wonderful part of Walla Walla, Washington, where I serve as live and serve as a priest to the church. And so it's really wonderful to be able to give them some love and support the incredible work that they're doing in
supporting women's recovery from addiction. And also to know it's something that my church also has a hand in, which is pretty awesome too. That is tremendous. And yeah, it's not just the house, it's the support that they get in that house. So we are happy. What a great thing Hope Street homes in Walla Walla, Washington again, win or lose. We're happy to make a donation in your name. You know the two great causes,
you know the great Jeopardy champs that are here. But it's time to get down to brass tacks and go over our answers for the general knowledge around. There were eight questions in the round. Question Number one was what Stephen wrote the coming of age tale that takes place in the early nineteen nineties, The Perks of being a Wallflower? Juverio, What did you get for number one? I wrote, Stephen? Oh No, I don't know this man's name, and I should Stephen oo is incredible. I like his earlier stuff.
David, what did you want for number one? Am? I'm surprised you very didn't have a flashy on this because when I look at it, what I see here is Stephen, not Sondha, the famous author Stephen not Sondheim, who clearly uh uh made their made, made their their their living off of not being a wallflower. So we have Ono and not Sondheim, which are two fantastic answers. The correct answer, though, is mister Stephen Chabowski.
Chaboski is his name. I just read the book. I know you're supposed to read it when you're when you're coming of age yourselves, but yeah, it's a fantastic little read. The Perks of Being a Wallfire Wallflower by Stephen Chabowski. No harm, no foul, no worries. Here we go. Question number two. What traditional Japanese seasoning is produced by fermenting soybeans with salt? And kog and sometimes rice, barley or other ingredients. David,
what did you get for number two? I think this is one where I'm probably overthinking in so let's see. But I put soy sauce, soy sauce, Juverio, what did you put? I also put soy sauce. Have soy sauce. We're in this together, sister as usual, Sibley, great minds think alike, soy sauce and soy sauce. The correct answer is miso meso. We've all heard it. But that's not an easy question Japanese season. It is miso is what I was going for for number two? Yeah,
all right? Question number three Saturday Night Live. Let's see if we can get off the schnight with this one. Can you name three of the four female Weekend Update hosts that have been on Saturday Night Live throughout the years? Juverio, what did you get for number three? So? I know the first two are right, so I said Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, and then I said Jane Curtin. But I don't know if Jane Curtin is right. But that was my third guess, Jane Curtain, Tina Fey and
Amy Poehler. David, what did you put for number three? I put Tina Fay and Amy Poehler as well, and then I U My third was Cecily Strong. So you did Fae Polar and Cecily Strong combined. You got all four? Give yourselves your first point of the game. It's one to one. It was Jane Curtin was first, then Tina fe and Amy Poehler, and Cecily Strong was the most recent one. He nailed at Great job,
Nice Paul for not having any TV in Carela. We have we know Jane Curtin though, Oh okay, yeah, someone hads with Dan Ackrod. Yeah, so she's part of the family. Yes. Question number four, what is the nickname for the athletic teams from the University of Arkansas? David As a South Carolina Games Cocks fan, this was a team that was the bane of my existence growing up. So I shan't say Wu Pigs, suey, but these are the Arkansas Razorbacks, Arkansas Razorbacks, Juveria. What did
you put for number four? David always makes fun of me because there's like a huge swath of knowledge that I only know because I have them in flash cards, and like, I have no context around them. I don't know anything about it. And I do have a flash card that says Arizona, Arkansas equals razorback equals pig. So I also said Razorbacks. That is fantastic. Those flash cards. Yeah, those flash cards come in handy though,
and stuff like this. It is the Arkansas Razorbacks for number four. Well done to one of us get our knowledge the old fashioned way by suffering for it. Yeah, are living a curious life. Not me. I'm a flash How many hundreds or thousands? You probably have thousands of flash cards? Do you? Very? I handmade sixty one thousand flash cards hand I mean I typed the my little flash card manager, and then I stopped doing my flash cards when I lost And then I peeped in on them and it looked
like great gardens in there. There's like a tree growing up flash cards already cats. And then I closed it really quickly. It's terrible. Oh my god, sixty one thousand flash cards. Well, it came in handy for number four. It was the Razorbacks. Unbelievable. Question number five. What singer had albums titled Emotions, Daydream, Glitter and the emancipation of Mimi Xuveria. We own all four. Mariah Carey, Mariah Carey, mister Sibley,
what did you get for number five? Everybody's favorite long islander, Mariah Carey. It is Miss Mariah Carey for number five on a roll. I love it. But then there's question six. Oh, one of you had it. One of you was very nervous. Let's find out. What's the meteorological term? That is a line on a map connecting points that have the same atmospheric pressure at a given time or on average over a given period. David, what do you got for number six? I believe this is an isobar?
An isobar? Juverio, What did you put for number six? I also have a flash card on isobars isobar. I love it. It is, in fact an isobar for number six. Fantastic question number seven? Can you name the two current senators from the Great State of Wisconsin? Juveria. Oh, this is very wrong because I think this man was the governor? But I put Scott Walker, and then I put another man. Question mark Scott Walker and another man going up high on the end there, David,
what did you get? Yeah, that's one took me a while because I was able to pull one right away. Who is Tammy Baldwin is their senator? And then I couldn't remember the second one, and then I remembered I needed to think about evil. And then when I thought about evil, then the name Ron Johnson finally came to me. So Tammy Baldwin and Ron Johnson, there it is. Yeah. One, You're like, this is good. The other one, Oh my gosh, why do you keep choosing this
guy? But the correct answer, you got it right, David, was Ron Johnson and Tammy Baldwin for Wisconsin. Question number eight, your final question in the famous triptick oil painting on oak panel by the early Netherlandish master Hieronymous Bosh that lives in the Prado Museum in Madrid, Spain. Mister Sibley, So, I don't have sixty four thousand flash guards, but I do have certain things in my minds that are blank equals blank and Bosh either equals auto
parts or Bosh equals the Garden of Earthly Delights. So I am going to boldly say that it's auto the Garden of Earthly Delights almost auto parts. Missus Zahir, what do you got? I like art actually, so this is not for flash card unfortunately. It's a Garden of Earthly Delights, which I think is also like Joyce Carol Old's book if I'm not mistaken, and fantastic
dropping knowledge upon knowledge. It is the Garden of Earthly Delights. If you haven't seen that painting, take a time out of this podcast right now and go look at it. It's insane and awesome. It's very cool. From so long ago. We have our first scoreboard update after a raucous general knowledge round. We have Juveria with five points and David Sibley with six. It's six to five here after one and we'll get to the pop culture grab bag
in just a second. But I wanted to ask you both just about your journey just getting on Jeopardy and then the first time you were on Jeopardy, like before all the tournaments and whatnot, how that went for you. So, Juverias start us off. What was it like to just get on the show and then your one and done story. Yeah, and you know what, Mike and I my husband, I used to play a lot of club
Tribua. Mike is much smarter than I am, and nicer than I am, and when we were about to get married in two thousand and eight,
he was actually in the contestant pool and where it was really cool. And then we didn't think about it for a decade, like we didn't watch we have kids, like we would both work and my brother was on Survivor and there was a little ad for the Anytime test at the end of the EPP like before his show had come on, and so I said to my like, you'll do the test again, win us some money, and he's like,
yeah, you'd do it too, So I was like sure. So I kind of took it like as one would take a BuzzFeed quiz, like kind of like which diss are you? Like, oh, when I was on Easy Hottail in my kitchen and I didn't think about it at all at all, And then I got an email from them a few months later, and then I think, demographically, I'm not the more like a typical Jeopardy person and so like things move very quickly for me. So it was like within a few weeks and I was going on and I hadn't watched the show
in fifteen years. I didn't even know they'd double the clue values. I didn't know what was going on. I tried to learn everything I could. I made a big spreadsheet. It was it was wild. And then I went on and I lost to Hannah Wilson, who David and I both met at TC Agains. She's the best. She's awesome, and she was like nice and funny and she'll her wife is great. But I played pretty well, like I had a terrible first round, but I played my heart out
in that second round. And when I got back to the green room, someone said, hey, you know you might get a call for a second chance, and I thought, oh, no way. But then I thought, if there is a chance that I'm going to get called for the second chance to nam, and I'm going to show up and I'm going to give it my best. And so I prepped. I made all those stupid flash cards, like I learned a lot of stuff like when my kids would go
to bed, like I would devote time to learning. And I was a very different player, I think when I went back and got connected with Sibley and some guys and we played a lot of games online and that was really really fun. And I won the same chance fernam It and then I won Shaping's Wild card, and it still doesn't feel real. It still feels like something that happened to somebody else. But it was the greatest gift I could
imagine. For sure. It is. It's so surreal, and like my three year anniversary from being on the show is coming up and I'm just like, I still am like it did not happen. I was not there that one day and played four games, and it's just it's mind boggling all that stuff. And that's that's a great thing I love about this community too,
is just how many connections are made after you get on the show. Like I had no idea about the community, and that people get together, they find out someone another champ lives in their town and they start playing pub trivia together or whatnot. It's just one of the most beautiful things about the already excellent show. Mister Sibley, what was it like for you on your first run? So I first tried to get on the show when I was in college. I had to. It was back when there wasn't an any time
test. It was show up on your computer at this specific time. And I had done well on that to the point that I had I didn't have a car so I had to coax a friend. This is in the middle of a very intensive chemistry lab course semester where we're in the lab for like eight hours a day, and so I in bigel one of my friends in the air precious free time to drive me three hours down to Atlanta so I
could take the test. So I went down to Atlanta and I did the next round of the test and in the audition, and I am absolutely certain that I was as exciting as builder's beige paint drying. Like I thought, I did pretty great, But in hindsight, I'm like, oh, wow, they wasted their time talking to this petrified college student. So it went out of my head for a long time. I'd take the anytime test when
it came up, or take the test when it came up. But during the pandemic, we started watching the show because it was on Netflix, and what else did you do during the pandemic other than like watch Netflix? And I was decent at it. My wife said, oh, you should give it a try. So I took the test and sort of forgot about it. And then as we were in the process of getting ready for our daughter to be born, moving into a new house, getting all that sort of
stuff. I got an email from them saying, you know, do you want to take the second round test? And I did it. And then like within eight hours of taking the second round test, they wanted a gameplay audition, and so I did. I did that and absolutely was convinced that I botched the audition again just because I was trying to be overly effusively present. I'm an introvert, so trying to be enthusiastic all the time is very hard. And so I did that, and then my daughter was born,
so I promptly forgot about being in the pool. I promptly forgot about Jeopardy. In fact, I got home after my daughter was born, I tried to watch Jeopardy, and my answers were so laughably bad that, like I turned off the TV in anger, Like I couldn't play along because my answers
were so wrong and I knew they were wrong. So I forgot that I was in the pool until I was at a church convention, some doing work there, and a call came in from Sony, and so I got to you know, a month later, suddenly I was trying to cram all the knowledge could in a short period of time and went out to Culver City absolutely convinced that I would lose, like absolutely beyond the shadow of doubt. I was going to go I was gonna lose, I was gonna have a good
story, and I was gonna go home. And somehow I got picked to play the first game of that tape day, and I lost on the last game of that tape day, which is really nice and poetic because it ties it up into a nice bow. And then I learned that I lost to someone that would go on to win twenty one games in Chris Pinulo, who is also just an excellent and wonderful guy. And so you know, it was sort of a whirlwind experience that because I wasn't expecting it, I wasn't
thinking I do well. I just sort of wanted to show up and be alive at the end of the show and not say anything so overwhelmingly stupid that it would haunt me for the rest of my life. And on the whole I didn't, and even the stupid thing I said was just hilarious. So you know, I'm good with confusing Beck and Edge Sheeran, like that's objectively funny. So you know, it was just it was. It was just
incredible. And then getting connected to the other people in the community, getting to meet folks like Javeria and and be with Javerias she was prepping to go
back on. It's just been it's just been a de light h One of the beauties of the Jeopardy experience for me is having a whole group of folks in my life and in my world that are my closest friends that have nothing to do with my work life of being a priest, that have nothing to do with my vocational life, that are our friends just because we enjoy learning stuff and talking to one another and caring for one another. So it's it's
been an absolute blast. Uh, it's so it's so great. Yeah that you both lost to like really incredible change in your own night, but you got to go back and strut your stuff. We'll talk about the toc and just a little bit. But thanks so much for regaling us with some of those stories and whatnot. And yeah, I think that's cool like that you're both of your backgrounds. I'm sure the Jeopardy contestant people are, like, we got a priest, We got an episcopal priest that swears like a sailor
that wants to be on the show. Well, yeah, I had a feeling the second time I might have a better chance because episcopal priest from Walla Walla, Washington is a much better tagline than a college student from Brangalo, South Carolina. Right, Yeah, And I felt that same way too when
I first took the test. I was just out of college, living in Chicago, and I think back and I was like, I would have had not a prayer to do well on the show and just living life and learning more for another you know, twenty almost twenty five years before I went on, helped me so much. All right, let's get back to the game at six to five after one as we enter the second round, which is our pop culture grab Bag Round two. Pop Culture grab Bag. Today in
the grab Bag, we're doing a literature round. These are all questions about twenty first century best sellers. They're all questions about books and authors from the last twenty plus years. I wish it was like eighteenth century bestsellers, and I would kill David. Yeah, I was going to say, I'm Ralph Wiggham in the back of the church saying I'm in danger at the oh, but it's gonna be fun. I love this mixed grill. Thank you for your mixed grill, which is sort of a family
joke. But it might not be the corrections, but that's the one I thought of. You're going with the corrections, Jonathan Franz, And the correct answer is the corrections Number one. So wrote the remains? Yeah, nice, Never Let Me Go? It is, in fact kaswo Ishi Guru. For number three Juveria. Good lord, oh my gosh. Three for three. Leaning up, David, I'm so sorry. I'm going to change the rest of this category to episcopal things. I guess, yeah, that'd be fantastic. But
I knew what I was getting into when I was playing Javeria. I'm perfectly comfortable with my new Canadian overlord, it's still early. Here we go. Question number four was from twenty eleven. Jennifer Egan won the Pulitzer Prize for this novel about a set of thirteen in related stories with a large set of characters, all connected to Benny Salazar, a record company executive, and his

Vietnamese Army. Just going some answer done is better than a good answer at this point, context clues play with what you can come up with a smart answer. That's good. Juveria, what did you put for number five? I don't know this at all. I put I used totally like something like stories from the h mart But I think that's very wrong. Oh yeah, that's a great Yeah, what is that the correct answer? It's a great book. And I think they are making this into a series of some sort.
On one of the streamers, it's called The Sympathizer. The Sympathizer is that Pulitzer winner for viet fen Yen. Question number six was from two thousand and one. Can you name three of the four animal companions in Jan Martell's Life of Pie Juveria? So one of them is that lion whose name is like Richard Parker or something, and then that's his Christian name. Data could be Robert okay, thank you, sick Parker. And then is there like a snake and a giraffe, I don't know, snake draft and a lion?
David, what did you put for number six? The only one I feel somewhat confident in it is a tiger Richard? Uh? And I did? I did put a snake as well. And then, failing for a third being, I put a kinkajuw because I just really wanted to say the word kinkajuw. I just misspecied, mister Parker. I think lions and tigers and bears, oh my, mister Richard Poker, Mister Richard Paka was a Bengal tiger. Oh no, not a lion. Take a knee and then take a lap. It was a Bengal tiger. And then the other three
this was This wasn't easy unless you've read it. I think recently. There's an orangutan, there's a hyena, zebra. I wish, I wish it was I would have given you to think of what fits in a dang boat. But yeah, I think it's rude to know someone's name and not their species. Yeah, about the whole thing. So if you're playing at home. It was a Bengal tiger, on orangutan, a hyena, and a
zebra. Not an easy question. For number six. Number seven from twenty thirteen, The Good Lord Bird is a novel about Henry Shackelford, an enslaved person who unites with John Brown and Brown's abolitionist mission. Written by what National Book Award winner? I needed the author for number seven, mister Sibley, I have no clue, so I'm going to say Octavia Butler, who's incredible author? Yes, yes, Juverio, what did you put for number seven?
That's just a guest, but I said Whitehead. Colson Whitehead and Octavia Butler, both incredible authors. The one I was going for was James McBride. James McBride, who I think also did Deacon King Kong and The Heaven and Earth Grocery Store recently fantastic author James McBride for number seven. Number eight
is from two thousand and nine. Hillary Mantel wrote this novel that is set in a period from fifteen hundred to fifteen thirty five that is a sympathetic fictionalized biography documenting the rapid rise to power of Thomas Cromwell in the Court of Henry the eight through the death of Sir Thomas Moore. Juveria, I think that Sibley and I both This is like in our event diagram with stuff we would both know, so honest say wolf Fall, wolf Hall, David, what
did you put for number eight? I know your guests are all constantly begging you for like English Reformation content. Thank you for delivering it. Yes, wolf Hall, wolf Hall and wolf Fall. It is, in fact wolf Hall for number eight. Got my one. I got my points. Sibley gets to play the rest of the game because he got at least one, right, That's not a rule. We are tabulating the scores. We have David Sibley with seven and a half points and Juvera is a here with ten.
It's ten to seven and a half at halftime. We are playing here with David Sibley. You can follow him on social media at David Sibley on Blue Sky or Sibley DC on Instagram. He is playing for Hope Street Homes in Walla, Walla, Washington. We're also here with juverias A here you can follow her at juveria as a here, and she is playing for the cam h foundation as we enter round three of four, which is the dreaded lightning round Round three, the lightning round, David, you are trailing at
this moment, so you get to go first. And you could choose from these three headings today that have nothing to do with the questions nor the answers, or we're kicking at a little old school. You can pick either friends to MySpace or the Facebook. I haven't I haven't thought about Tom for a
while, so I think I want to go with my Space. My Space and Tom with that weird picture he posted that was his Unlike Zuckerberg or anyone else, he got out like he's living on some Caribbean island living his best life. Now, Tom for the win, Let's do this. It is your MySpace Lightning Round question. I'm gonna say the question twice. Saygo. You're gonna have twenty seconds to give me as many answers as possible. Do you write some answers down. I'm coming straight to you with your five second
rebuttal, here is your lightning round my Space question. Can you name the largest nine African countries by area, not by population, but the largest nine African countries by area? Twenty seconds on the clock. David and a go Democratic Republic of the Congo, Algeria's Sudan, South Sudan, Namibi, that the Libya, that the geez Jesus with the Chad stop stop stop stop. You got six. You got the top six. You got Algeria, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, you got Soudan, Libya and Chad and niejer
just under the wire. So you got six. There's still three on the board. See if you can steal some of these largest nine African countries by area five second rebuttal Juveia and Go Egypt, South Africa, Kenya, Angola, Zambia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, bop. You got two. You stole too. You got Angola, which was number seven in South Africa, number nine, the one we missed, number eight. This was incredible. You guys killed this round, was Molly Molly OLLI yeah, eight, But you
were incredible in the MySpace question little African geography. Juveria. It's your turn in the barrel. Now you could choose either friends to or the facebooks for your lightning round question. Because you are both my friends, I will pick Friendster and Annie three friendsh We love it. We're all friends here, friendster, all right, here is your friends to lightning around question. I'll read it twice. Saygo you got twenty seconds and then, David, you're writing
some stuff down. After the Beatles? Can you name the next nine best selling British musical groups? These are all groups from Britain, so after the Beatles they're number one. But after the Beatles, can you name the next nine best selling British musical groups of all time? Twenty seconds on the clock and Ago, Rolling Stone's, Oasis, Blur, Kinkserver, Radiohead, cool Play? Oh god, no more than I can think of? Come on, they exist in the one direction see British Spice Girls. Stop stop stop.
I think you got a couple of Think you got the Stones and Coldplay? Correct? Yes, what were some of the other ones? You said? Oasis, Blur, Kinks for Radiohead, Spice Girls in one direction? So yeah, you got two, I believe. So there are seven left remaining in your friends your question, David, it's your five second rebuttal after the Beatles, name the next nine best selling British musical groups of all time? Five seconds and Ago, the Who Pink Floyd. I don't know if
the police are British. But I'm going to say the police stop. Those are all great guesses. You stole one. You got Pink Floyd Nanks Floyd was number four on the list. So let's go through these and then if one of you guys said them, because it was so quick, let me know if you were like, hey, I said that. So Juberia got the Rolling Stones and Coldplay and David stole Pink Floyd. So let's go over the other ones we didn't get. Number one, led Zeppelin get the let
Out. Of course led Zeppelin N. Two have become one of my favorite groups of all time. The Beg's Beg's Course, followed by Queen Queen Queen number three, Number six and seven and eight I think are a little deeper cuts and harder Genesis with you know, Pil Peter Gabriel and Phil Collins, the different incarnations of Genesis was number six. Number seven was a band that I was like, I'd never heard of this, but I guess in Britain they were huge for many decades. Is status Quo. Status Quo is one
of the most best selling British bands. I was like, I learned something new today. Number eight. If you could take a platonic ideal of a British band name, it would be status Quo, Status Quo for sure. And then number eight one of my favorite bands, Mark Knopfler and his brother Dire Straight was in there. But that was a tougher question to come up with in twenty seconds. So we are tabulating our score after a very fun lightning round. Here is your scoreboard day. There is Jeuveria is a here
with thirteen points and David Sibley with fourteen and a half. It's fourteen and a half to thirteen. After three we'll get onto the double duty. But in one second, I want to talk more about your Jeopardy journeys. Tell us a little bit. Any memories or stories about the incredible, the largest of all time, the Tournament of Champions that we just witnessed recently. Juverio, what do you remember anything that comes to mind about this very memorable time.
You know, it's funny, it's Dave and I have a lot talked about it a lot in retrospect. There were some really wonderful moments, amazing to meet so many equol people just to be there. The one like my like downer moment was after I lost. It's not a downer, it's actually really lovely. Like it was the last game of the day and I lost. I lost to Luigi, who I adore. The only person who hates Luigi for what he did to me is my grandmother, who like continues to
rate him whenever we speak on the phone. But everyone else in my family loves Luigi. I love Luigi. But because I was the last game of the date, like I was like right outside and that let you know, the little hallway between like the green room and the stage, and like I couldn't get out of there because people kept coming to give me a hug and it was like the nicest thing. I think. David was one of them, you know, Panulo and Yogash and Justin Bolson was like, I'm so
sorry you lost, mom, because I was his toc mom. You know matt people I didn't even know as well, like like Matthew. And then my daughters like came to find me, and I remember apologizing to them, like I'm so sorry. And then my big girl who's ten, she's like, Mom, you have nothing to apologize for, and she said, I'm prouder of you now that I've been at all, because like you're showing us
how you can lose and still like be the best mom. And it was like the nicest moment because you know, I think I said to simply like, one of the things that's hard about this is like it's so intense, and then it's, as you know, too, Mike, like it's over. And David asked me, like, what are you most afraid of? And I said, like, I think I'm afraid of like either forgetting this myself or being forgotten. And in that moment, it's like, you know,
it's it's the friends you make and it's the relationships you have. So that was a really really nice moment for me. That is beautiful. That's so lovely. And again, yeah, we've talked about it already and touched upon it. There is something magical about the community once you're on that show. Once you get on there, even if you're one and done, it
doesn't matter. You take the test and you get on that show and then you're welcomed into this very large community of people that just like learning stuff and
knowing stuff, but becoming you know, such great friends. And then your daughter saying that my heart, my ovaries, Oh my god, that's so lovely, mister Sibley, What do you remember about the TOC So I know when I went on the show the first time I was, I was deeply nervous for a lot of reasons, not just like performance, but like it's very hard to explain what I do as my job and being in a school priest, and because a lot of people don't know much about the Episcopal Church,
and a lot of people have terrible associations or experiences with with with organized religion. For well, you know, those experiences are well founded. And so I remember being very very nervous about being who I was and trying to you know, wanting to present the best face for the church, but while also being me and while also having fun. And you know, you put those all in your brain and they blend together and just some dodgepodge came out.
But the good thing about coming back eighteen months later is I had a lot of time to see, like how my initial episodes had been received, and to you know, to be very clear about you know, where I stand. And if I have one non negotiable, it's that God loves everyone
periods. There's no exceptions, there's no ifs, ands or buts, and being able to you know, make some connections there also meant that when I came back, I was able to be a little bit more loose and more free and just sort of be a dingbat, completely insane, you know, crack jokes, UH, have fun and be loose, and I think, you know, my impression of the TOOC was for being able to be loose and have fun and relax. It made the whole thing a lot better for
me. I think there were a lot of ways one could have come into the TOOC. You could have put a lot of pressure on yourself because this is your your one shining moment to perform. You could you could easily just say, well, I'm not going to prepare it all as as one of
one of one of our fellow contestants did. And more more power to to them like they were very happy for uh and enjoying themselves for just sort of letting it ride and UH, I think trying finding the middle ground and finding a place where you know, you could you can meet these people who just had their own interesting areas of knowledge and things that they loved alongside of the things that you're unreservedly nerdy and geeky about and being able to be in that
place will also just being free to know, like, you know, this is playing with house money. We just get to play Jeopardy one more time, and that's awesome, and what happens happens was just a real gift. And then the other really really great gift for me was when I went on the first time I went, I went down to La Solo. You know,
my wife was still nursing, our daughter was eleven months old. It was just me and I had a couple of friends that came that lived in the LA area, but other than that, it was just me there and my wife got to come this time and watch me play and got to see me win a game which was beyond my expectation, which was really wonderful.
And then when then there was downtime, it was me and my wife hanging with Juveria and her husband and her two beautiful kids, and they sort of Mike and the kids went off with them and did all sorts of fun stuff
around La while we sat like idiots in the audience. And so having this gelling of our families too was really really lovely, you know, it was one of the real gifts of the toc for me was meeting Javeria and being able to rely on her to stay sort of anchored emotionally and grounded and touching grass throughout this whole whirlwind experience where it's easily to lose track of the world
around you and what's important and what matters. So as wonderful as all of my fellow contestants were, and I don't have a bad thing to say about any of them, like a real gift was the time with Javeria and her family and the anchoring she gave to me so I could have fun, so I could relax, so I could be myself. I think, to know that our families were like you do, feel like there's and I'm sure you
could resonate it. There's like an element of like profound selfishness that comes from like devoting and I think for David and I both like giving professions, giving
vocations both as parents. You know, you feel so selfish taking so much time for yourself to like learn and practice and do your flash cards and fly out and knowing that our families were so close and having such a wonderful time and going to the tar pits and you know, going to the you know to LACMA and stuff like we knew that they were fine, like David's life, taught my daughter how to play like championship manager where you like run soccer
teams. And still even now I'm wilt texting and be like I just offered I got offered the job as head coach of Cameroon, but I'm going to turn it down. It's like, this is incredible and like you you don't lose those ties easily, which is so wonderful. Yeah, and that you guys got to share that with your families the second go around was just that's so beautiful and wonderful and thanks again for telling us all about that stuff.
It's a very special thing. And you guys represented yourselves and your families and your vocations so well. And I think it's important that people saw the representation that you both brought to the show and saw you out there and like you are humanizing these different things, and I think that was super important too. So fantastic. Well, it is fourteen and a half to thirteen after three rounds, we're getting back to the game and we are heading into our fourth
and final round between you two round four, the double duty. It is the Theodore Double Duty Radcliffe round. We call it the Double Duty because points are doubled and there are nine questions in this round, so they are eighteen very important points that are up for glabs today. In the Double Duty, we haven't done this in a while, but it is a before and after category. There's going to be kind of two clues in each question that are
kind of have something that connects them in the middle. I think once we get a couple of these on our about and you'll understand what's going on at home. But it is a before and a halfter in the Double Duty. Here is question number one of nine. Number one is Jewish folks song of celebration into the only venomous lizard native to the United States? Can you name
that? Before and after again? For question number one, it's the Jewish folk song of celebration into the only venomous lizard native to these here United States. Moving things right along to question number two, credited with inventing the cotton gin in seventeen ninety three into the singer known simply as the voice. Question number two, credited with inventing the cotton gin back in seventeen ninety three into the singer known simply as the voice. How are we feeling after two?

say, pride goes before fall, So all right. Question number three the Civil War battle on the morning of April ninth, eighteen sixty five, which led to Lee surrendering to Grant into the hip hop group that gave us Top of the Morning to you, and jump around Question number three the Civil War battle on the morning of April ninth, eighteen sixty five, which led to Lee surrendering, surrendering to Grant into the hip hop group that gave us Top
of the Morning to you and jump around for question number three. Question number four goes like this, Ashkabat or Ashgabad is the capital city of this former Soviet republic into the person with the most appearances in Marvel movies. Again for number four, Ashgabat or Ashkabad is the capital city of this former Soviet republic into the person with the most appearances in Marvel films for number four. Number five might be my favorite of the bunch here in the Double Duty. This
is a before and after. Category number five is Doctor Seuss's final book published during his lifetime, Into the first yogurt made specifically for children. Think Yo play came up with that, so again for number five, Doctor Seuss's final book published during his lifetime, Into the first yogurt made specifically for children.
They met before and After for number five Number six of nine. This candid, family centered TV comedy and coming of age story follows sixteen year old Aaron and her friends as they grow up in a world of armed police and British Army checkpoints in the nineteen nineties of Northern Ireland into the first major single for
Cindy Lauper. Question number six. This candid family center TV comedy and coming of age story follows sixteen year old Aaron and her friends as they grow up in a world of armed police and British Army checkpoints in the nineteen nineties of Northern Ireland into the first major hit single for Cindy Lauper. For number six, It's getting oh so quiet in the double Duty round. It's coming down
to these final few questions here. Question number seven. The leader of the walam Watkine or Wallawah band of nez Parse a Native American tribe of the Interior Pacific Northwest region of the United States in the latter half of the nineteenth century into the musical with music and lyrics by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice.
Again for question number seven, I want the leader of the wallam Watkaine or Wallawah band of Nez Perce, which is a Native American tribe in the Interior Pacific Northwest region of the United States in the latter half of the nineteenth century into the musical with music and lyrics by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice. Question number eight goes like this, the nineteen ninety nine Pedro Almodovar film into
the Woman who was canonized by Pope Francis back in twenty sixteen. Name that before and after for question number eight, the nineteen ninety nine Pedro el Molovar film into the Woman who was canonized by Pope Francis back in twenty sixteen. And finally, question number nine, nine of nine in the double d Radcliffe round, this is a before and after and for question number nine. Since we're having a little fun here, but this is going to be a before,
middle, and after. Other three answers that are all combined here, and it goes like this, nicknamed Marble City and host of the nineteen eighty two World's Fair, into the playwright that gave us the rose tattoo into the consumer retail company that sells kitchenware and home furnishings and includes brands West Elm and
Pottery Barn. I'll repeat that again. Nicknamed Marble City and host of the nineteen eighty two World's Fair gets mentioned in a very famous Simpsons episode into the playwright that gave us the rose tattoo into the consumer retail company that sells kitchenware and home furnishings and includes brands West Elm and Pottery Barn. Name that before, middle, and after for question number nine pencils down. Let's go over
our answers for very interesting double duty Radcliffe round. This was a before and after round. There were nine questions in the round. Question number one the Jewish folk song of celebration into the only venomous lizard native to these here United States, Juveria. What did you get for number one? Ha? Naguila monster avout Naguila monster? David? What did you put? Yeah? I definitely have not seen this done at a wedding before, but I also put
the Hava Naguila monster. The Hava Naguila monster is correct if have anaguila and the Aguila monster or HeLa monster Hava Naguila monster for number one two points a piece. Question number two. Credited with inventing the cotting gen back in seventeen ninety three, into the singer known simply as the voice David Eli Whitney Houston, Eli Whitney Houston, Juveria, What did you put Eli Whitney Houston, Eli Whitney Houston. You are two for two in the double duty Still Anyone's
game, where one question apart? Still as we head into number three, the Civil War battle on the morning of April nine, eighteen sixty five, which led to Lee surrendering to Grant into the hip hop group that gave us Top of the Morning to you and jump around Juveria. What is Appomattox Court
House of Pain? Appomattox Court House of Pain, Mister Sibley, I also have Appomatox Court House of Pain. That would be, in fact the Battle of Appomattox Court House of Pain. For number three, you guys are ruling the roost you're kicking all the ass and the double duty. Question number four, Ashgabat or Ashgabad is the capital of this former Soviet republic in the person with the most appearance appearances in Marvel movies, David, it is my favorite
of the Central Asian republics. I think this is turk Mina Stan Lee, Turkmenistan Lee Juveria. What did you put? Well? I'm glad that David's I know that Turkmistan is David's favorite, and I put Ministan Lee, also Turkmenistan Lee, and Turkmenistan Lee. It is in fact Turkmenistan Lee. Soe and nailed it four for four. Question number five may be my favorite of the bunch. Doctor Seuss's final book published during his lifetime, Into the first
yogurt made specifically for children. Juveria. I don't think this is right, but I said, Oh, the places you'll go gurt, Oh the places you'll go gurt. H David, what did you put for number five? I have, Oh the places you'll go gurt as well? Probably got this book when you graduated high school or college. Oh the places You'll go gurt is in fact correct. That answer deserves a huzzah. This is sensational. You guys are rocking and rolling. This is so great. Five for five
so far. Question number six, candid family centered TV comedy and coming of age story, followed sixteen year old Aaron and her friends as they grow up in a world of armed police in British Army checkpoints in the nineteen nineties of Northern Ireland into the first major single for Cindy Lauper David, I have dairy girls just want to have fun. Dairy girls just want to have fun, Juveria. What did you have? Yeah, been to dairy and seeing the
big dairy girls mean now I'm your all. Dairy girls just want to have fun. It is dairy girls just want to have fun. You're making a mockery of the double duty. This is so impressive. Question number seven.
The leader of the walam Watkin or Wallawah band of nez Paris, a Native American tribe in the Interior Pacific Northwest region of the United States in the latter half of the nineteenth century, into the musical with music and lyrics by Andrew Lloyd Webber and tim Rice missus A. Here, I said Chief Joseph and the amazing Technicolor dream Cope, Chief Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor dream Coat.
Mister Sibley, what did you put? Throwing me some inland northwest con I really appreciate that I also have Chief Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor dream Coat, killing it, killing it, killing it. It is Chief Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor dream Coat. For number seven, it comes down to these two question number eight nineteen ninety nine Pedro Almodovar film Into the woman who was canonized
by Pope Francis back in twenty sixteen. David I spent a long time trying to make eat Mama Tembien work into a before and after, and at the last minute pulled back and realized, I think it's all about my mother Teresa, all about my mother Teresa. Juveria, what did you put? Oh? I went through the same process. I was like, what does a to Mama tembien translate to? And I was like, that's at your mother too, So I was like, is it at your mother Teresa? But
I couldn't get there, so unlike day write and get there. So I have and also your mother Teresa, and also your mother Teresa I thought that might trip you up. But yeah, Ittu Mama Tambien. I think was directed by Alfonso Quiron. I think it's his one. I think it's his
first big movie. So it is all about my mother, Teresa. Great poll David, and then number nine was Year Before, Middle and After, nicknamed Marble City and host of the nineteen eighty two World's Fair, Into the playwright that gave us the rose tattoo, into the consumer retail company that sells kitchenware and home furnishings and includes brands West Elm and Pottery Barne. Did you get this triple trouble question to Varia, I said, Knoxville, Tennessee,
Williams Sonoma, Knoxville, Tennessee, Williams Sonoma. David, what did you put? I had Knoxville, Tennessee, and I had Tennessee Williams, but I could not pull Williams Sonoma. You got two of the three. The correct answer is Knoxville, Tennessee, Williams Sonoma. For your Before, Middle, and After, we have tabulated the scores. One of the slimmest wins of all time. We have David Sibley with thirty and a half points and Juveria is a here with thirty points on the nose. Very nice by half
a point. David Sibley, you are the smartest person in the world for one week. It's true for more than one week that that pop culture round absolutely begs to differ. That's where Juverius shined for sure. Oh, shining brighter than the side like I want to give a quarter point? Like am I allowed to give a quarter point? You know what this is? This is just like the Tournament of Champions and peaking too early for Javeria. No, son, will you ever learn? No, you are both incredible.
One of our best games ever, one of our closest games ever. Those scores are very impressive, especially a very tough game. Our champ, David Sibley. You can follow him on social media at David Sibley on Blue Sky and at Sibley DC on Instagram. We are so happy to make a donation in your name to the Hope Street Homes in Walla, Walla, Washington. And then Juwveria is a here. You can follow her on social media at jew Veria as a here, and we are happy to make a donation in
your name to the cam h Foundation. What a game, but it's not over the final throwdown. It's time for the final throwdown. This is where Annie, our producer, comes back, throws up a one off question. The three of us can discuss some stuff, come up with some various answers. Annie will reveal it, and then hopefully we all learn a little something. So it's about a central Asian dictator. Yes, let's see hopefully I
think I think you're owed. Some I think you're owed. Some housewives call it at this point one let's find out what was in Annie's mind as she comes up with this. It's our final throat on question. So Annie, if you are ready, put it up there, I'll read it to the world a couple of times. What is the windiest planet in our Solar system? So for me, like, my first thought is that would a windy planet be the one with the least amount of atmosphere and the one that's supposed
to the Sun. So my first thought was Mercury. But I also know that David knows more about planets than me. I will ask you to guys, So my mind goes to Jupiter and the Great Red Spot, just because that's a story. I know that I know that but that's that's about what I've got. Like, I feel like it's got to be one of the gas giant planets, right, this is all broiling around the right like if the Great Red Spot is in fact a giant storm, Like that's that's the
best that I that's my best talk here. That's that's kind of what I was thinking too, because you know when you go through them and you're like Mercury eighty eight days smallest, Venus hottest Mars, almost the same size as Earth. But yeah, that I first went to Jupiter, but got I get it can storm. I also feel like Venus could be like the stalking
horse here that we're not thinking about life just because it's got it. It's got such a weird atmosphere of all sorts of toxic, awful gases, and I feel like there could be like chemistry happening that's making it very windy there. And then of course, you know it's a planet question. So I also deeply, deeply, deeply want to be Vebus and just talk about your inus. Yes, yeah, always you got to mention your urinus at all
times, even if it's not the answer. It could be Annie might be pulling a fast one where she's like, I've got three nerds on the show, and we're gonna we're gonna go. It's sophomore. It's gonna be Earth the whole time. It's Earth is the windiest place on Earth. So are you still sticking with Mercury Juveria? You guys have talked me into Jupiter. Oh my god, if we're wrong, now we're screwed. All right, welly go with Jupiter. But we're going to learn something something, I think,
so Annie, he put us out of our misery. Reveal the answer, and I'll tell everybody what's what we all learned something? It is Neptune has that big dark spot or whatever. Yeah, let's let's learn about windy Neptune here. Neptune is one of two ice giants in the Outer Solar System. Winds are nine times stronger than those on Earth. They move across the
planet at twelve hundred miles per hour. Temperatures on Neptune can dip around negative three hundred and sixty degrees fahrenheit, and this coldness may help limit friction, allowing winds to move freely. It's less soupy. Yeah you mentioned that soup. Well, it's less soupy. And if it's colder, it's going to be denser, right, And if it's denser, that means more stuff is going to move per unit of space, right, So twelve hundred miles per
hour. Let's get some kites. Let's go. Let's send elon Musk there. Yeah, you two, this was a pleasure to have you on the podcast. I wish you nothing but great health and more successes going forward. And yeah, I can't wait to have more of your siblings from the Jeopardy TOOC on the pod. But this was such a great way to have a jump start to this incredible group. Thanks for the invitation.
