We’re discussing how to have meaningful conversations with people that don’t agree with us. Seeking to understand is more important than being understood. One of the signs of being an adult is being able to entertain an idea without accepting it.

All right, my friends, welcome to this hour of the Todd Huff Show.

It is my pleasure as always to be here. I want to kind of continue continue discussion I've had recently here on this program where I was given the opportunity to kind of share with our church this past Sunday at service, and just want to share with you some of the things that we discussed there because I think that they're very appropriate with the larger picture of what we talk about on this program, what I think is important, especially as we embark upon

this election year. So there's lots of things there that we discussed that again we're going to get into here today as well. So but before we do that. So want to kind of pick up where we left off a little bit. I mean, it's kind of a big,

a big issue. Our pastor invited me to speak with him during our service on this past weekend, and I'm just talking with you about some of those things, and I'll share maybe some of the feedback and questions and sort of thing that I got after after doing this and actually preparing for this. Preparing for this has gotten me, has reminded me, has I guess reinforced me

the understanding of the next steps that we have here on this program. Now, as you know, this program is well what we do here at the Todd Huff Show that this program is central to it. We also write a column. By the way, you can get that column. It's totally free weekly column that goes out wednesdays of each week Toddhofshow dot com slash column.

Just sign up with your email address and you'll actually be put into a monthly drawing to get some free stuff here from the show if you were a subscriber to that conservative not bitter column. But the program is core to what we do here. We produce a two hour program each weekday and the that's this is where we cover the most I don't know, cover the things that are happening in pop culture, happening in the political narrative. We discuss them.

It's the core of what we do. But there's some other things that as we grow that I've always wanted to do more of We've done some of these things, but I want to do more. One of those is actually speak kind of like what we did this weekend, but this, you know, doing this this past weekend has helped me kind of realize the sorts of things that I would do if I spoke more often at churches and colleges and venues and that sort of thing, which we do a little bit of. I

want to do more as we have the availa ability. So that's that's a good thing. It's also reinforcing me the desire or not the desire. The desire has always been there. It's just that there's a lot of irons in the fire here behind the scenes as we're still in major, major growth mode here. But the other thing that I've always thought was lacking was just this

community aspect. And so one of the things that we are about to launch is what we call our Inner Circle Todd's in our Circle, where we'll have regular contact, we have some training, some exclusive videos and content for members, but then we'll also have some regular you call them webinars or video calls where we want to actually teach and network and help move things forward, not just by discussing it. Every day, but putting feet to the words I

guess that are that are being spoken here at the program. And I gotta I got a text, ironically over over the weekend from someone who was saying, hey, we need to you know, kind of form a grassroots organization of sorts to make sure that this person was in Indiana to say, hey, let's let's focus on, you know, helping helping kind of move the political needle on certain candidates and that sort of thing. And that's the sort of sort of thing that can come from building a network of people who want

to do more than just listen. Now you can certainly just listen this, some of these things are not for everybody, you know, it depends on it depends on you know, your level of involvement, how serious you are about these things. I know that we're catching people at all different all different phases. But if you're past the phase of just you know, learning, and you know you want to do something about it, like these are the things that kind of next steps, not just hearing it, but actually doing

something about it. Those are things that we're working on here. And the inner Circle membership is another one of those things. And going through this experience over the weekend has kind of reminded me of that, if I can say

it that way. So, but there are other things that I was asked about, and one of the more interesting questions I was asked, one of the more interesting questions I was asked was They were all interesting, but this one that I was asked is this And this came from someone at the church. Over the course of this series. The pastor had been preaching. The question was is there ever a time to go against the authority of the government. That's the question. And so I want to frame this. I want

to frame this a little bit here. I want to reframe it. I understand the core of this question, but let me frame it this way, and I think it becomes easier, easier to answer. You know, when the Founders, when the Founders created this country, the Founders acknowledge some truths that our rights come from God, not from not from man, and not from government. We're created in the image of God. He gives us our rights. Liberty means that we are free to live as God intended. And

they also said that we're not subjects. Excuse me, yeah, we're not subjects, we're citizens. We don't get our rights from government. Government can't tell us what to do. Instead, we power, We empower, I should say, the government, we give them the our consent to govern us. And the Constitution is basically the rule book on that. Here's what you can do, executive branch of the government. Here's what you can do,

legislative brands, judicial judicial brands. These are your responsibilities. This is what the people have basically delegated to you. Too many people have that backwards. Too many people think, well, I can only do what the government allows, and that's a scary proposition. It's actually one hundred and eighty degrees out of whack. We tell the government what to do. And that idea was revolutionary. Again, we've dealing back when this country was founded. This idea

of the divine right of kings to the throne, they got it. You know that this next person was divinely appointed to rule a nation. And so forth, our founders did away with all of that. Our founders did all away with all that. They established America as a constitutional republic. By republic, that means that we don't have a pure democracy, a direct democracy.

Instead, we vote for representatives, who then, of course are supposed to represent us and we of course have the right and I I dare say, the obligation to hold these folks accountable by constitutional It means that we've written these rules into place, and we've also taken the time. The founders took the time to enumerate some and I mean some, not all, some of the

rights that people say we want to retain. And that is written in the Bill of Rights, the first ten Amendments to the United States Constitution that Madison included. So there you go. That's kind of the framework of what we have. And so what does it mean. Well, it means in the strictest of senses, my friends, we don't have rulers. We do not have rulers. And that's an important thing. Now, I will say this.

I will say this at the risk of some people are not liking it, But I would say, Biblically speaking, the Bible says, as much it is as it is possible, live at peace with everyone. We should be as much as it is possible, we must be respectful of people in authority. Doesn't mean we can't question them. Ultimately, Again, they work for the American people based upon the consent of the governed. So we don't

really submit to people. We submit to the rule of law, to the rule of law, and so that is ultimately what we are supposed to do. Now, what does that mean then? If there is a law that is written that is directly and clearly in violation of our rights, that is directly outside of the authority given the government via the Constitution, or what if it's something that is directly antithetical to the Bible. For those who are Christians, what is our obligation to that? I would say, our obligation,

my friends, is to not follow that particular law. So this is basically, in essence, what the Founders were going through. The Founders were going through prior to writing the Declaration of Independence and declaring their independence from the throne of England and saying we're no longer part of it. In fact, they list twenty seven grievances in the declaration when you did this, you did that.

You didn't listen to us. Here, you put undoe burden upon the people there, you took away our freedoms here, you quartered soldiers there, and all these sorts of things, stamp acte act, all these things. You would not listen to us. Taxation without representation, I mean, all these sorts of things you'll find that say, we tried, we tried to communicate, we tried to work with you, you didn't. It's become necessary that we dissolved these bonds and that we are now a free and independent nation.

And that's where it got to for them. So I want to continue talking about that. But my friends, let me tell you a little bit about Salty. Did you know? Did you know that heart disease takes seven hundred thousand lives in the US each each and every year. At least they've done that, it's done in the past two years. And that's why I want to introduce you to Salty. It's an all natural, clinically proven way

to lower your cholesterol. It's ideal for overall health. Science has shown that heart disease can take years, sometimes even decades before it starts to weaken our hearts, and Salty wants to help people change that. All subscribers will be entered into a monthly drawing to win free Inner Circle membership. All right, so back to this this issue. Answering this question, So should we ever go against the quote unquote authority

of the government. Well again, if these laws that are written, if these laws that are written go against our liberties, the liberties that are captured in the Constitution, if they go against for the believer, if they go directly against scripture, if it is a clear attempt by the government to exercise authority well outsigned the outside the bonds or the bounds I should say, given to it by the US Constitution, then we, my friends, can can

fight these these those would be un just laws. And for those of you who are Christians, you'll remember the story of Shadrack, Meshack, and Abenigo, right, the three young men who refused a law. They refused a law to bow down to the golden image of King Nebekinezzar. And by the way, it's a perfect depiction of how these of how these rulers begin to think and act. The human nature when you have absolute power is to do absolutely more and more insane things, to the point to where they made an

image of gold and required people bow down to it. How stupid could this possibly have been? Shadrack, Mishak and Abenigo refused to bow down. They were given basically an ultimatum. If you don't bow down, we're gonna throw you into this. We're gonna take your lives by basically burning you alive. And these were young men, and they said, no, we're not going to do it. In fact, what they told the king was, O King, I'm paraphrasing here. Our God is able to save us from your

fiery furnace. But even if he doesn't, these words will preach, by the way, even if he doesn't. I love this. They didn't know, They didn't know the outcome. They had not read the rest of the book, the Book of Daniel, where the story is told. They hadn't seen how this thing played out. And they said, we're not going to do it because it is it is in direct opposition to what God instructs us to do. It is in direct opposition of the way that we're supposed to

live, of the freedom that we have. You could say, to not bow down to worship the God that we choose not to worship your silly little image. And so they threw them in the fiery furnace. They were saved. They were saved by God. In fact, there's a this is an old testament. What do you wanna say reference to Jesus even stepping into that furnace to save them? So that is I would say, our duty and responsibility. And we have friends, we have a government that is so ridiculously

out of control. I mean it has blown past the bounds of the constitution for for a long long time. I'm talking decades. The Founders would not remotely recognize what's going on here. I'm not just talking about technological advances and societal changes. I'm talking about what government is doing. They would say, your government does what? Why is it over here? How much is it costing you do? How much is your debt? Right? I mean this

is massive, massive deviations from what the Founders put in place. So the question really to me is not so much do we have? Is there ever time to go against the quote unquote authority of the government. I would say, yes that we do. I think the real question is what happens, what should we do when the government goes against the authority of the people, because again, we are the ones who have the authority, and I think that we have an obligation to resist. At its core, government has forced

my friends. In fact, Thomas Paine wrote Thomas pain wrote back one of the Founders, that government, even in its best state, is but a necessary evil. In its worst state, it's an intolerable one. James Madison wrote in Federalist Paper fifty one that if men were angels, no government would be necessary. If angels were to govern men, neither external nor internal controls on government would be necessary, and that justice. In another part of Federalist

fifty one, justice is the end of government. It is the end of civil society, meaning that that is what the pursuit of government should be. Is justice is Jama talking about, you know, all of the things that we've tried to tie to justice today. I mean true legitimate justice, right, protecting life, making sure that there's law and order. This is the

end. This is the role. The purpose of government is to make sure that evil doesn't run amok in a society there that there are consequences for infringing upon the lives and liberty of individuals, and that's the role of government. But now they make it. They make it about the what the levels of the sea in one hundred years, or they make it about I mean, just take your pick. Their tentacles are in everything. They're in everything, whether or not, whether or not somebody who plays in the w n b

A makes the same amount as someone who who plays in the NBA. I mean, this is quite a crazy, again, deviation from what the founders had intended. So that's one of the other things that we kind of talked about. I mentioned that the Declaration of Independence listed twenty seven grievances that the founders had against the King of England, and they tried with all their might to find a remedy. They tried with all their might to find a remedy,

and they ultimately did not. They did not. I'm reminded of Romans twelve eighteen. Here, if possible, it says, so far as it depends on you be at peace with all people. There's a time, my friends, when it doesn't depend upon you, when there's nothing else that you can do. If someone decides to put the heavy boot of tyranny upon our throats, and we've tried to communicate, we approach our government with the redress

petition, our government with the redress of grievances. If they ignore it, if they are totalitarian, then we now are suddenly in a position where we're going to have to We're going to have to do something about it, hopefully just by the election at the election box, voting people in that will respect

liberty and the role of government and so forth. But if there's an individual law that's not that is unconstitutional or outside the bounds of the government to set up, there's nothing, I mean, we can resist that, and we should. We should. So anyway, my friends, did you know that gold has outperformed the S and P five hundred and the Dow Jones since nineteen seventy one, That, of course, is when the US took the dollar

off of the gold standard. Question is is that a coincidence? Well, when the government allowed people to own gold again, they reclassified gold as a commodity rather than a paper currency backstop. They did this all while themselves holding and hoarding some of the highest amounts of physical gold in its own reserve. All countries, central banks, major institutions, and yes, even the IMF, the International Monetary Fund itself own substantial gold holdings. If all these entities

that control Fiat paper money have physical gold, shouldn't you as well? Well you can do that. You can check out Harvard Gold Group. Are friends there and see if having gold in your portfolio makes sense. Harvard gooldgroup dot com. My name Todd. Use that as a promo code. You'll save two hundred and fifty dollars. Interested in having Todd speak at your church or event. He's available in more locations than you may think. Visit Toddhuffshow dot

com slash speak for more information. So we'll continue this discussion here, get into some other things, maybe some of the feedback I got as well on the other side of the break, my friends. But right now we've got a quick time out in order. You're listening here to conservative not bitter talk. I am your host, the world sponsors and advert Oh sorry about that one. The only Todd huff back here in just a minute. Back, my friends. So, I mean going through some of these things that we

were talking about. A pastor and I at our church this past weekend and got into I mean a lot of different things. We've went through a couple of the questions, the things that we were speaking about. One of the things he asked me, and I told him was the hardest question that he asked, is where can I find credible information about the issues and candidates and so forth. And the reality is I had to tell him, I don't

know. I mean, that's just the truth that now. There are places that I've learned, I learned to trust, but I'm far from wanting to go on record and saying this is a reliable source, this is a reliable source. Of course, you know that journalism is largely dead. Everybody wants to be an editorialist, an opinion leader. True journalism the art of presenting different sides of an issue, of an argument, and so forth, and then not interjecting your opinion, remaining as unbiased as possible. That is a

lost art form. And there's some there's some journalists out there, true journalists, but there are fewer and fewer that make their way into the position of well being a journalist, especially for some of the mainstream media outlets that they don't even try in most cases, and so it's hard to say where to

find where to find reliable sources. Of course, you could turn into tune into this program, but the reality is, I don't know some of the things that I mean, I don't have an idea sometimes as to whether we it's being reported as true or not. That's why I think it's more important for you for me to think through the issue. Whatever the issue is. I mean, it can be anything, the role of government, taxation,

abortion, take your pick. Develop your position, think through what makes sense, what makes sense from the constitution perspective, what makes sense just as you think about the totality of the issue, and then you come to you develop your viewpoint, your position, and then and then instead of just chasing any narrative that comes up at the moment by the media, you measure what you see, what you see these politicians doing about the issue, not what they're

saying, not what they're campaigning on, not what they're trying to raise money off of, but what they actually are doing. And by the way, it's a great opportunity to make sure that you don't that none of us fall into the trap of saying, well, they voted against the I Love Puppies Act. Well, my friends, sometimes and actually in most cases, the

I Love Puppies Act has absolutely nothing to do with puppies. It might be something a federally funded puppy program for people that also includes lots of additional well taxes and other things, probably money for Ukraine and so forth. So that becomes, you know, context matters, and having a full understanding of the issue matters, And so we shouldn't just trust these jokers and clowns for obvious for obvious reasons, I would say, be skeptical, be a free thinker,

be mature, be wise. Again, the sign of being an adult is to entertain a thought without having to accept it. So talked about a couple of those things. The other questions I was asked here was what do we do? Like you fast forward to November sixth, which just day the day after the election, What do we do? How do I respond if

my candidate loses or if my canaidate wins. And I first say, if your candidate loses, I would say, not to imitate some of the things we've seen in previous years, which include things like screaming at the universe, having to cancel class because you're unable to attend, calling in sick to work, requesting service dogs. That's right, that happened, Needing adult coloring books or adult plato to cope with the election results or those sorts of things,

and if your candidate wins. I would also not advise what someone did to me, which again it didn't bother me, but I had an individual call me and say, haha, Todd, Kamala is going to be present vice which I don't know why that was the point. I don't know. Again, it's obvious that people were not excited about Biden. First black woman is going to be vice president, which that's great, assuming that person has the

qualifications, which of course we obviously do not have. We do know, I should say, we do know that Kamala has zero qualifications other than possibly that cackle. But anyway, it's it is don't do those things right. We shouldn't gloat if we win, and we shouldn't think that the world is over if we lose. There are serious consequences from this election. I'm not disputing that for a moment, But what I am saying is win or lose.

The battle I think is the same. I think is the same I would say, we have to fight for liberty, We have to fight for the Constitution and for truth. We have to understand that this is not going anywhere. This is going to be here for the rest of our lives. You've heard me say that many times on this program. This is not going away. This is not going anywhere, Reagan says. Reagan said, liberty is always just one generation away from extinction, and we do not pass it

along to our children in the bloodstream. We have to We have to pass it on by making sure that they understand it and that they are prepared to defend it and then pass it on to the next generation. And so that is not going away. So we're going to have to persuade, We're going to have to engage. We got lots of work to do. In fact, there's a lot of work that's going to kick off on November six,

they're shortly thereabouts. Not just not just dealing with the election results, but hey, maybe it's time to start looking at ways that we can have more of a voice, more of an impact in the Republican Party. Maybe we can get some more concerns privative candidates, people who believe in the Constitution by the way that reminds me. Just side note, it's in the snack of

stuff today. Tucker Carlson was on with Joe Rogan i think last week, and he said a lot of people in Congress and this is not surprising to me. In fact, I've mentioned the same thing to Oz here, but he says, a lot of people in Congress are terrified. Are terrified because the deep state. Could you know, if you oppose them, if you oppose them in any way that they decide needs to be punished, you know, they can do something like and he used the example of put kitty porn

on your on your computer and suddenly you're immediately guilty. They dropped it on there. There's you know, they they can move on. You're the one that has to deal with it, and that is not something anybody wants to have to deal with. So we got a mess here that's not gonna that's not gonna be cleaned up from this election. I think that steps can be made to clean some of that stuff up, but we've got we have generations,

my friends, of work to be done. And even if we clean it all up and get it back to where it needs to be, we still have to be about the work of making sure that we pass it on to the next the next generation. So let's see what else do I want to say to you here some of the reaction of some of the reaction. Actually, before I do that, let me tell you a little bit about what's happening reminds you what's happening here at My Pillow. You know that My

Pillow has lost the support of their box stores. You know that they've lost some of their shopping channels, and they've been a part of the shub cancel

Todd promo code. Todd sponsors and advertisers of The Todd Huff Show do not necessarily agree with the views, ideas, and opinions expressed on this program, but they absolutely should. So what are some of the the last segment, I'll just kind of square this up or tee this up as we are in

the final minute here of this segment. But next segment, I'll just share a little bit about some of the maybe questions or feedback I'd gotten after what I shared yesterday or this weekend that at our church, got a lot of feedback, a lot of things that you know, maybe some of you are thinking, or maybe some people that you know are thinking. I'll just kind of share some of that in our final segment of this hour, which we'll do here after the break which is quickly approaching us, my friends. So

that's what we'll do on the other side of the break. In the meantime, I will remind you that you're listening here to America's home for conservative not bitter a talk. You're listening to the one, the only, the benevolent Todd Huff back here in just a minute. Welcome back to my friends. So just a little bit about a little bit of the feedback that I got, just because I think it might be some of these things that come up, might be things that you have heard that you are maybe dealing with or

whatever. One individual came up to me told me he was I would I would say, from what I could ascertain, he's a moderate conservative. He said he cannot vote for either candidate. It's not voting for Biden or for Trump. You've heard me address this on here before. I don't particularly understand that this because one of those two is going to be our president. One of those two is going to be the president. My my vote, I'm

not. It's I'm not if I choose not to vote or not to participate and not to accept the reality that Trump or Biden one will be president. I am not suddenly like not part of the problem or anything. I still have to deal with the same problem. I need to decide which president's ideas and policies are better for the nation, better for liberty, more in line with the Constitution, better for the economy, all those things, better for

better for what, international relations, foreign policy, what have you. And I think the one, I know the choice is absolutely stark and obvious. Trump's policies are much much much better. You know, a lot of what I got yesterday, A lot of what I got yesterday was, you know, I mean, some some encouraging, encouraging talk. We one individual, you know, commented that this, you know, a lot of what we

talk about is really just just the approach. How much further we would advance in this discourse if we just if we just took the time and effort to do it. I mean, this is not it's not complicated stuff. It might be difficult to execute because you know, it's not always easy to maintain our cool and all that sort of stuff. But my friends, I mean, we're hanging This nation is hanging on by a metaphorical thread here, hanging

on by a thread. And I think that if it's as bad as I think that it is, and I'm certain, very certain that it is then I have no choice but to be involved and to be engaged in this overall process of trying to persuade. And it's the alternative to maybe being uncomfortable or being intense situations is so much worse. You know, sometimes I feel like we collectively as a nation are living in some sort of denial. It's not the choice really isn't. Well, you know, I can have discomfort here

or you know, live at peace. The question is do I want to have some momentary discomfort now that is relatively minor, or do I want massive life altering changes to come because of oppression? And who knows what else. There's stories in the Stack of Stuff today if you want to go check it out on the website Tatafshow dot com. Just go to the Stack of Stuff. One of them is about Bank America allegedly potentially d banking. Christians think

about that. I mean, what if we get to the point and we're we're on that path, my friends, if you're unable to are unable to bank because of your political affiliation, your your religious affiliation, seems like a pretty big problem, right And to some it's down the road, it's it's it's it's not it doesn't seem real. But we're marching quickly down this path.

And we can either take relatively i don't know, small small steps collectively to try to write this ship, or we can just sit collectively on our hands doing nothing and deal with massive pain and deal with massive persecution unlike we've ever dealt with remotely in this country. So very real problems that exist out there today, and some of these things are minor inconveniences to engage in today.
