This is a once in a lifetime opportunity. You know, I had an experience here yesterday that I just want to share some stuff
with you. I actually was asked by our pastor. We kind of did a I don't know, a discussion yesterday about some things that I think pertain to what we talk about on this show. And I don't know, I just had a lot of thoughts in preparing to share with the pastor and the our congregation yesterday, and so I wanted to take a moment to maybe elaborate or kind of share some of that with you too, because I think it's it's relevant for our discussion. We got into a lot of different types of
things. But that's what I want to talk about today, and it's it's kind of hard to talk about it until I talk about it, But that's that's the main that's what I want to get to today, the gist of it as they as they say so. But before we do that, I want to I want to tell you about Z Stack z stacklife dot com, slash todd you can go and shop z stacks products now. So yesterday this weekend at church, a couple of weeks ago, our pastor asked
me, where's he's doing a series? We're doing a series or he's doing a series on uh, just some things that are happening, I would say, culturally and in particular, he's decided to talk about the election now, not from the perspective of, you know, trying to campaign for someone from the pulpit or something like that. That's not that's not what he's doing, but rather talking about this sort of thing through a biblical lens and a biblical
perspective. And so he asked me, he asked me if I would come up and kind of do a back and forth discussion Q and a sort of thing. And so that's what we did. Had a great time, And I just want to share a little bit about this with you because again, I think it's it's very relevant to what we talk about here on this program, and it leads into so many larger or well sometimes larger discussions, larger
issues. Sometimes there's a lot of rabbits that we could chase off of these things that you know, not not necessarily bad rabbits, just so many things that are distractions from or potential spin offs from what one where one question can lead us. And so I just kind of want to go through this. I'm guessing, I'm guessing that some of you would have these questions, maybe many of you, and so that's where I want to want to start today,
and I want to share my thoughts on these questions. And of course there's many more questions beyond this, but one of the things he asked, one of the things he asked was how can I how can we have meaningful conversations with someone that we disagree with, especially when it comes to politics in
this election. Right, So, look, I know that I'm talking to a wide group of people here, so you may fall into this particular group, one particular group or subgroup of a larger overall group, You're going to find yourself maybe completely in the center of this group that I'm talking to, at the core or parts of this or what have you. But you know,
I come at this. I come to this program as a conservative, as an American, as a conservative, as a Christian, I'm a follower of Jesus, and so there are specific things that as a Christian, God expects certain behavior from us. Say that God expects certain behavior from all of us, but it's only through his redemptive power that I'm able to do any portion of that. Really, so what is the way that we should go about this? Because this is unavoidable. Right, everything in this world We've
talked about this on this program before. Everything has become political. Where you eat, drink, drive, where where you work, where you live, all that stuff. And so America was a nation that was founded upon ideas, ideas, by the way, that were fundamentally unique at the time of at the time of her founding. You know, when our founders defeated the
British during the American Revolution. Typically what happens in that sort of scenario is the leaders that win the battle established themselves as the new ruling class, as the new monarch, as the new oligarch, whatever they become, the rulers, the ruling class. But that's not what our founders did. It's a beautiful thing, by the way, with the Founders, and look fully recognizing here the Founders were not perfect men, absolutely not perfect men. But the
Founders did a lot of things right too. They recognized things that had been ignored through large swaths of history. I would say the vast majority, the vast, vast majority of history. And I've said before, you've heard me probably say this, that for the first time, one of the first times, if not the first time, that people were considered as Americans to be citizens and not subjects, not subjected to the will and the whimsies of some
monarch, of some king. They didn't serve a king. The Founders realized, recognized that Americans at all people, but in particular the country that they were going to be trusted to build and create in form, the Founders said, you are ultimately responsible to your creator. You are ultimately given your liberty and freedom from your creator. Don't look at us to do that. You are made in the image of your creator, and as part of that creation
that you are, you have certain inalienable rights. That among those are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. You are created to be free. You are not simply a ponn of the king. You are a citizen. Your rights come from God. And so this led to truly revolutionary thought.
And as a kind of a consequence or consequence has a negative connotation as a result, as a result of doing things, I would maintain the right way, the best way that we can do them this side of heaven, which is, allow people to maintain that liberty, those choices to live their lives as they see fit. That unleashes, that unleashes the power of a group of people, of a nation, of a culture, of an economy, and it radically changed the face of the planet for the good. You
can't give money, my friends, to people who are needing it. If you don't have more than you need. You aren't able to give from your lack. You're able to give from your the provision that's provided. And so the economy, the culture, just the nation itself has experienced some throughout its history, some absolutely wonderful things, things that we have even exported to other parts of the world. Capitalism, though demonized by some has single handedly helped
lift more people out of poverty than socialism could ever dream. There is no charity, my friends, without profit. There is no profit without free markets. It's just the way, ultimately that is going to work. Otherwise, the government thinks that it controls everything. People have no incentive to work to be productive. There's less to work with, and people do not have their needs met, and their dreams are squashed, and they're not able to live
the life that they believe that they should live. They're limited in their choices because they don't have the freedom to take the risks to take these steps associated with pursuing a dream, a lifestyle, a series of choices that they want to make. And so this country has been built upon those things. This
country has flourished because we've accepted those things. And if America is built upon ideas, I maintain that it is, and those ideas are what made America great, then well, of course it's safe to say that if we deviate from those ideas enough, America will begin to not be great again. If the ideas make you great and you stop following the ideas, it's only a
matter of time before the greatness completely dissipates and disappears. So if all that is true, If all that's true, it becomes obvious that we're going to have to have conversations with people. We're going to have to have conversations with people who don't currently see it that way and persuade them. We're going to have to be able to communicate with them. We're going to have to be able to say, Hey, here are the ideas that made America great.
We need to pursue these, follow these, embrace these, pass these on to the next generation, or we're going to be in a world of hurt. And so it begs then the question, how do we have those conversations? And I mean we, I don't mean some guy with the microphone,
although I certainly have a role to play here as well. I have to be able to use the moments of things happening in our culture and our media narrative, things going on around around the country and around the world, to engage in this sort of discussion, to be able to highlight and to promote the ideas that in fact did make America great. And we have to then figure out ways to explain those, teach those, persuade people to accept those. And so there's a couple of things, and I'll get into this in
a moment. But have the right mindset, know the right stuff, discuss it the right way. That's kind of how I put it. That's kind of the approach. Have the right mindset, know the right stuff, discuss it the right way. And I want to talk about that here, but I want to take a quick little breath here and tell you about my friend, Eric Wilson, and I sell health Eric Wilson, he's been a partner
of this program for several years. He's been serving clients throughout the country since twenty and four, twenty years now, and he helps with individual health insurance, group health insurance, and he helps people navigate and provide services to help in the world of mediccare as well. He knows that he's dealing with individuals who have individual needs, priorities, issues, problems, all that sort of stuff, and then he knows how to navigate the law. Eric's willing to do an absolutely free, no cost consultation, no strings

It's isell health dot com. Highly recommend by the way that you speak with Eric if you want to review your health insurance options, especially given that health insurance premiums are expected to go up five to
eight percent in twenty twenty four. So back to the issue at hand. Here we're talking about having the right mindset, knowing the right type of stuff I guess you could say it, and discussing these things the right way. That's how we have to have conversations with people who disagree or who have not come to accept some of these realities and truth as I see it, and so having the right mindset first of all, means that I have to understand
I don't know what all. That's humbling, and we have to be humble by the way. We have to be humble because my friends, those convinced against their will are of the same opinion. Still, that is an old adage and old saying, and it's true. You can't strong arm someone. You can't come in both guns of blazon and think you're going to by the sheer intellect of your argument, by the your presence just walking into the room boom problem solve. It's not the way, it's not the way that it
works, and it's not the way that you were persuaded. Maybe a couple of you maybe needed that approach, but the vast majority of us come to this through realization, right We Education learning often requires drawing out of us what we already know internally, but we just don't have the tools or the We can't always connect the dots. And that's really what we have to help people
do. Persuasion, when we're persuading people to come to realization of truth, is not so much doing something to them, it's doing something for or with them, and so it requires the right type of approach, and so sometimes, I mean the last thing we would want, I would think, is to have such an unlike likable approach and attitude that someone is persuaded by the logic of our argument, but they don't want to accept it because we are
repulsing repulsing them And you know, truth being known, we've all had a little bit of that at some point in our lives. I mean, there's something about you know if sometimes when we get knowledge, it kind of puffs us up, and we we don't, you know, we kind of think highly of ourselves. That's that's a way that I think something that humanity is human nature to struggle with. But we need to be humble, we need
to be loving, We need to try to build a relationship. We need to say that that person that I'm speaking with, that person I'm speaking with, even though they may be the absolute antithesis of what I am and what I believe, that person is just as equally made in the image of God as I am. And so if I have a respect for that person, a genuine concern for that person, I shouldn't go in to try to persuade them. For reasons but for helping them come to the realization of truth.
And again, if you seek to persuade, understand that persuasion is something you do with or force someone not to someone. And I'll add this, not everyone you know is going to be persuadable by you. I mean there are people what's the powdered butt syndrome? Right if oftentimes parents or older adults will look at you as a kid, even if you've become an expert. I don't like that word, but you know, if you have a lot of knowledge about something, they still see you as some ten year old kid or
whatever. There's some people there's some things I like to say that only I could say to my wife. There's some things that anybody on this planet could say to her before I could. And we all have those situations, right, we all have those relationships. Some people just are not going to hear it coming from us, but there are certainly those that will. And we have to see this as a win win proposition, not the you come in with your argument, I come in with mine. I win, you lose.
I'm the winner. I'm the champion. It's not about you, it's not about me. It's about truth. It's about It's about this country, my friends. It's about your children and your grandchildren's future. It's about what this country is becoming, what it will be. And so it reminds me of Socrates when I talk about not having a win lose mentality here, because
Socrates never entered arguments in order to quote win it. I mean, it's almost comical to picture Socrates bouncing around on his robe after astonishing people with his logic and his just rational thought and so forth, up there kind of putting his hand in front of his face and taunting, taunting those he defeated, right, kind of the Angel Reese facial taun of Caitlin Clark back in last
year's women's NCAA National Championship game. It wasn't up there doing that. He actually thought that people who were persuaded and actually learned something in the debate were arguably the people who won. So that's an important thing. We need to seek to understand more than to be understood. I can't tell you the number of conversations and I've learned. Look, I'm not speaking these words as though I follow them my entire life, or that I follow them all the time.
I just know them to be true through experience, and I think a lot of this certainly has a foundation and biblical truth as well. I think we should seek to be able to explain even if we don't agree. Right, You've heard me say on this program, and I didn't come up with this. One of the signs of being an adult is to be able to entertain an idea without accepting it. Let me say that again, because I think that's important. One of the hallmarks of being an adult is to be
able to entertain a thought without accepting it. And so if someone wants to tell me what they think about something, I should seek to understand it so much that I can explain it back to them correctly, without condescension, without any even if I think it's the stupidest thing ever. Because if I can explain it back to them, even though I think it's crazy sometimes and I'm fair in the way that I explain it back to them, that right there
builds an incredible bond of trust and a bridge in the relationship. So we should seek to understand more than to be understood. I get more to say about this, but the clock is telling me here that I've got to take a break, and I want to tell you a bit about our friends. It's Solty Salty, my friends. When we get back, my friends, I want to continue this conversation again sharing some things that happened yesterday. I'm going to share some kind of questions and feedback that I got as well as the program comes together today, but I have to take a quick time out back here
my friends. In just a minute, Welcome back, my friends. Just sharing a little bit about what happened some of the things that I shared yesterday. This weekend at at our church, we were again I was invited by the by our pastor, Pastor Marty, to have a discussion about some of these things through a biblical lens, things that I think have a lot of
direct relation to the things that we talk about on this program. And we're talking about how to have meaningful conversations with people that disagree with us, especially here as we enter the election season. We laid the groundwork on that the
importance of the ideas that built America and made America great. If we deviate from those ideas, eventually our greatness will follow because if it's again the result of ideas and we stop following those ideas, the greatness that comes from embracing and living out those ideas, of course, also will come to an end. So we're going to have to have these conversations. We're going to there's no this is unavoidable. By the way, it's unavoidable. We all we
all have a role, we all have a sphere of influence. And again, not everybody's going to listen to us individually, but there are people that will. And we're talking about having the right mindset, knowing the right stuff and discussing it, discussing it the right way. And so we've been talking about having the right mindset, seeking to understand more than being understood, Be graceful, be humble, have have something that is appealing versus having something that's
very dogmatic, you know, knock someone over the head with truth. Those convinced against their will are of the same opinion. Still, you know, no one is going to really, no one is going to just be completely overwhelmed by our incredible intellect. That's not going to be what changes them. What's going to change them is the realization that they themselves have to come through and that or come to and that is done by building relationship, connecting with
people and handling that interaction the right way. And we'll get to that and here in just a moment. But we have to know the right stuff as well. As a Christian, I would say I would tell all people this, but as if you're a Christian, I would say, we should have We should know what God says about these things. You know, even though we often say these things are political, politics has taken over our lives. Politics has has expanded to include every single thing that happens in our society.
And part of that is because we have a government that has its tentacles everywhere. And so it's hard to say, well, that's not political because the government is, you know, putting its fingers over here and over there. But that's not the case. There's some things clearly, clearly that God has to say. The Bible has to say about some of these issues, some things that we can extrapolate, even if it doesn't directly say it, we can extrapolate it and say, well, maybe we should think about this this
one. Now. I'm not saying a theocracy. I'm just talking about the way that we deal with certain issues, things like abortion. It matters, it would matter when life begins. Science, by the way, tells us unequivocally when that is, things like the role of government, the nature of government. It's important that we understand human nature as a Christian. God tells
us unequivocally that we all have a sinful nature. There's no one good, no not one, and so by recognizing that we should set up a system like our founders did, of checks and balances that say, hey, we're not going to trust that men are angels or that our government is going to be angels. We're going to make sure that we make it as hard as possible for there to be abuses. But ultimately, ultimately we've got to hold those people accountable who do abuse their authority, and we have not done that.
We've advocated that responsibility for decades here in this country. I would also say that we need to have a general understanding of the issues. Notice I said general. I don't think anybody needs to feel like they need to be an expert. I think general understanding from both sides. Again, I would say, try to accurately portray the issues from both sides. Now, I'm
not saying that to please let me be clear. Just because I say we should seek to be able to articulate both sides or multiple sides of an issue, that does not mean that I think that all that they are all sides that have a legitimate point to be made, just to be able to communicate it so that you can get the you know, the starting point of a
discussion with someone who may believe this stuff. If you can't, even if you can't understand their position enough to converse with them, it's going to be hard to find a starting point that you can draw them, draw them at least to the point where they would entertain or hear you out for sharing your ideas as as well. So you don't have to be an expert. You do not need a bunch of data, man oh Man, I think this is this is something that permeates our culture today. Truth, my friends,
Truth doesn't need data to prove that it's true. Now, it might be helpful to say, here's data to support it, but I've given examples on here. You don't need, By the way, you don't need a bunch of research data to prove that Burglary is wrong. You don't need a bunch of research data to know that you don't want your spouse being well engaging in extramarital activities. We don't need that. We don't need research data to show
us that abusing children or other people is bad. Like, these are things that are obvious and oftentimes I'm not against I'm not against the data, but I tell you what happens in a huge percentage of cases, data is collected and then it has manipulated. The foundations of the research are often very flawed and incredibly biased, and so we have things that just aren't true that we're dealing with, and so we don't need that stuff. Don't bog yourself down
with that. I'm not saying it's not helpful. I'm not saying it doesn't apply to any circumstance. But what I do know is that truth doesn't need data to make it. So truth is truth, whether you and I believe it or not. And I would also say we should think more about how to think versus what to think. That's something that I think we've really deviated from in this culture. We have a bunch of people here who simply just
want you to tell them what should I think about this? And of course, just ever so conveniently, the left is running the seven Pillars of propaganda, which by the way, includes education, and they'll say, oh, well, we're happy to do that. Here's what you think about that Trump is guilty of an insurrection, Trump tried to overthrow our democracy. They want to say, these are facts, this is what you think. If you ask why, if you ask an explanation. Well, wait a minute.
That's when the censors from big tech step in and say, no, no, no, you can't be asking that, you can't be even raising those questions. Those questions in and of themselves are direct threats to our democracy. Don't do that. No, No, let's see, we need to focus on how to think more than what to think. We need to know, we need to know the why. Years ago, there was a gentleman I listened to his name's escaping me at the moment he said this, the person
who knows why, excuse me how we'll always have a job. The person who knows why will always be the boss. Now, I'm not saying that, you know, there's a time to be either one of those things, but I'm saying you'll move up the latter. You'll have more you'll have more authority, you'll have more responsibility if you can articulate the why. And I would say, even someone who's a radical leftist, now they're gonna be hard,
virtually impossible to persuade. So let's just say a liberal, I would recommend connecting with them over the issue of liberty, the issue of being able to be free and to live your own life as you see fit I think you're gonna have. You're gonna be hard pressed to find people, even if they disagree politically with you, who are not going to connect with you over this, this idea of freedom and the importance that they can live their lives.
Is they see fit, that they shouldn't be told how to live their lives, that they shouldn't be told what the priorities are, That they shouldn't be told what they have to do for a living, how much they need to work, all these sorts of things. They should be able to live
the life that they've decided to live. And once you establish that, and you can start pointing out ways that the government is interfering with other people's liberty to make their own choices, because it's taking too much of their money, because it's forcing them to comply with rules and regulations and bureaucratic red tape. It's making them make choices that interfere with how they want to live. And by the way, that lifestyle that they want to live does not harm anyone
directly. It's none of the government's business to make these things more difficult for people, but yet they do. But if you can connect with people over that issue of liberty. There's actually a lot of agreement, a lot of agreement there because they want to be free as well. And by the way, I know that because that's how God made us to live. He made us to be free with the spirit of the Lord. Is there is liberty. If my friend's got to take a break here. But nick Knack Naturals

You'll say, fifteen percent off. Timeout is in order, my friends, sit tight back in just a minute. Welcome back to my friends. So, last segment here of this of
this hour of the program. And so we've gone through a couple of a couple of important things when talking with people who are we may not see things the way that we see them. We talked about we've talked about how it's important to have the right mindset, the right approach. We've talked about how it's important to know the right types of things. And you don't have to
be an expert, by the way. We have to have a fundamental working understanding of the issues to be able to converse and have meaning meaningful discourse and dialogue and so forth. But we also have to discuss it the right way, discuss it the right way. We have to first and foremost listen. And I know that this might go against this a special if we're tired of hearing nonsense. I get it, I get it. But we have to
think not so much about our feelings what we prefer at the moment. We need to think about in terms of how do I make this the most productive use of my time? Possible, and we have to listen. And on top of that, I would say, we have to earn the right to speak. We can't just say here I am, I'm going to walk in the room, I'm gonna set you straight, tell you what's up, and you're gonna walk away just mesmerized by the intellect and the argument that I presented
to you. That's just not the way that it works. And even if it does work, it's something that people don't want to find agreement with because it's so just unpleasurable. And so we have to listen, earn the right to speak. And when we do finally earn that right to speak, I would highly suggests that we follow the example of Jesus and that we often speak with questions. And the reason for this, the reason, well there's multiple reasons for this, but at the core is the desire that we all have
to make it our own idea. In sales, they'll tell you that if you say it to a prospect, the prospect sees it or hears it as a lie. You know, this product is the best product in the marketplace. Well, that salesperson is lying to me, says the prospect. But if you ask a series of questions and expose some of the problems and get you know, some open discourse about what's going on, and then explain or
show how the product helps address some of these problems. The prospect may very well say, wow, this is the best product in the marketplace, because if they say it, it's considered the gospel truth. And so we want to we want to have a teacher's heart, not We don't want to come in and lecture. We don't want to come in a lecture. We want to be intentional as well. We want to be intentional. We want to think of those people right down the names of the people that you would like
to begin the process of discussing political issues. Heck, maybe maybe a religious and spiritual issues. I don't know how you view these things, but all under it doesn't have to just be one little it can be multiple things, be multiple things. And so when we have these conversations, though, what's important is that we avoid personalities and we avoid labels. You'll know that I
call this the Conservative America's Home for conservative not bitter talk and education. By the way, but I do that because I mean, I kind of I have to, right, I want to define who we are, and I don't want someone else defining me. By the way, It's interesting to me most people seem to understand the purpose of our brand. But every once in a while someone will say, well, I don't think conservatives are bitter, to which I say, I'm not saying anybody is better. I'm saying I'm
not the media. The media portrays us all as bitter. I'm going straight to the to the people who may assume that every conservative is bitter, and I'm saying I'm not. And I'm also not going to defend every There's no way I can defend every single conservative. I've had people tell me they're conservative and very bitter, and that's all right. We can still be friends here. I don't think that's the best way to obviously do what we're talking about
here, which is persuade. But that's fine. If that's your brand of conservatism, that's your prerogative. But I'm not here to defend every can so I couldn't defend every conservative and say that every conservative is not bitter. I'm saying what I am. I'm conservative and I'm not bitter, and you can be a part of that that brand as well. That's kind of what we're I guess teaching here today. But you want to avoid, you want to
avoid talking about issues through a political lens. You mentioned the name Trump or Biden or Kamala or Speaker Johnson or Chuck Schumer or the Supreme Court Brett Kavanaugh, Amy Cony, Barrett Neil Gorsuch, Clarence Thomas. It's going to immediately pep. People have been taught to hate these people. And I'm not saying that we shouldn't defend them or that we shouldn't try to get people to understand that these are not villains in the in the story here, but that's not
the purpose. The purpose is to get people to open to open their eyes, and so we have to avoid those personalities. We have to avoid those labels. And we also have to understand that it's not going to be one conversation where some someone says, Wow, I've changed my ways completely. I've had some pretty there's one example. I don't have time to share it. I mean, I had a pretty pretty unique circumstance with a gentleman, a
gentleman named Doug a few years ago. But the truth is, most of the time there's not some dramatic change, right, It's something that happens gradually. It's not an all or nothing proposition. But whatever the case, my friend, it's imperative that we have these discussions, that we'd be prepared to explain them and to persuade. And I've got to go. Thank you for listening, SDG
