Episode description

Gary Thomas, author of The Glorious Pursuit--Becoming Who God Created Us To Be, checks in to share about this newly-updated version.

First published more than two decades ago and now updated for today’s generation, The Glorious Pursuit outlines what it looks like to pursue the classical Christian virtues. Drawing on Scripture as well as the wisdom of ancient church leaders, Thomas details several virtues embodied in the life of Christ and encourages believers to pursue the virtues in their life journey.

Thomas, a writer and speaker who serves on the teaching team at Second Baptist Church in Houston, believes we encounter true discipleship―the life we were made for―by observing Jesus in His daily life and the virtues He embodied and then implementing them in our own life.

“The virtues are not a difficult performance we are called to give before a demanding, tyrannical parent, but a life-affirming, soul-refreshing invitation to become persons of integrity—the persons God created us to be,” says Thomas.
