MAY THE FOURTH BE WITH YOU! Creation declares the glory of God, and creative storytelling often includes archetypes or profound truths that deeply resonate with us. Although George Lucas was not focused on one specific religious belief, parallels can be seen. Join us in today's episode as we explore the parallels between the saga of Star Wars and the timeless truths of the gospel, with our our dear friend and Star Wars fan, Ty Epperson.
Giving grace to others can be tough – it's not just about feeling sorry for their weaknesses. But when we are aware of our own shortcomings and can overcome the need to self-protect, it becomes way easier to give that grace to people around us. Our way isn't always the best, and there's so much we can learn from each other.
Listen to this week's episode where Rick and Judi discuss 2 Corinthians 12 where Paul admits to having a thorn in his flesh. He begins to see it as a gift because it's when we are weak that His grace is on full display in our lives!
We all fail and fall short of God's best for us, but it's when we fail that we find God's beautiful gift of grace that's available to us.
God made humanity with weakness, and we are meant to be best in partnership WITH Him. God chose to enter our world through the flesh and operate in weakness to show us how much we are worth to Him.
We all have weaknesses, but it's not something to hate. We were made to rely on God for our strength. "My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness. Most gladly, therefore, I will rather boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me. Therefore I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in distresses, in persecutions, in difficulties, in behalf of Christ; for when I am weak, then I am strong." -2 Corinthians 2:9-10...
Politics, although necessary for order in the world, can be noisy and divisive. Thank goodness we have the Kingdom of God living in us to help navigate the world's system! Fighting for "good" with weapons of "evil" does not bring heart change. How can we continue to invite Jesus into this conversation to bring true transformation?
It's easy to get stuck on the treadmill of self-improvement, always trying to just be a little bit better. This cycle modifies our reliance on the Holy Spirit, allowing us to believe the lie that it is up to us. Listen to today's episode for some good news!
The church has modified Christianity by trying to get people to keep moral laws and making the conversation about sin. What if the good news was better than that? What Jesus came to offer is so much better than a list of dos and don'ts!
NEW SERIES kicks off today! Christians have a history of trying to "improve" Christianity, but adding anything other than what The Spirit says changes the trajectory in the long run and doesn't lead to anything better. Jesus finished the work PERFECTLY, and we can rest in the Good News He's revealed to us.
Perfectionism is rooted in the need to control, and it's nearly impossible to respect and understand another's opinion when you're living from that place. It's a very black or white, right or wrong, good or bad perspective, and there is no room for grace to flourish there. Listen to today's episode of The Third Option where you will be challenged to lay down the control and live a free life FULL of love and grace.
It's easy to be influenced by outer authority - pastors, celebrities, denominations. There is pressure all around us that encourages us to live, think, and act a certain, but as believers, we have something better than what the world has to offer. The Holy Spirit within us is our friend, a gentle voice that offers guidance, wisdom, and comfort. It's our reminder that we have access to all we need in Christ!
Have you ever been rejected? Did you then feel like something was wrong with you because of it? Living authentically means that you accept your true self, in spite of your imperfections. When we live honestly and openly, we experience freedom and greater depth in our relationships. Vulnerability requires courage, but its incredibly beautiful and worth the risk!
Grace gives us the assurance that we are loved by our Creator and gives us the ability to walk through painful circumstances with joy. Grace grants us with the ability to forgive others and extend the grace we've received to others. Grace causes thanksgiving to overflow as we reflect on the goodness of God. We all need it. What a beautiful gift we have access to!
Today's podcast is for all our married listeners out there! Your relationship with your spouse is a very special one. More than a relationship, it's a union, that requires care and grace.
The way we relate to our Father is important - is it about a contract or communion? Listen to today's episode about living life freely in "GRACE Land" instead of the bondage of "LAW-LAW Land." "...sin is not imputed when there is no law." - Romans 5:13
Why are we afraid of grace? Many believe that when we receive the lavish grace of God that it will cause us to sin more and take advantage of God's amazing gift. When you fully understand what Christ died to offer His children and experience true freedom from sin, that last thing you want to do is run back to it.
Fear was our old motivation, but now we are motivated by love. Love is the currency of the Kingdom, and it is our most valuable resource because it comes from Him.
Happy New Year! 2023 brought us highs and lows, but God's goodness has been a constant through it all.
Jesus revealed the heart of the Father, forever changing the picture that God is angry and unreachable. Rather, He is near to us and loves us far more than we could ever imagine. Why is this shift important? It's impossible to trust a God that is not 100% for you. Jesus came and corrected our thinking, showing us that our God was so much better than we ever knew!
What a gift we have in the Holy Spirit! Our friend, comforter, and counselor. It's the presence of God with us that allows us to walk in the fruits of the Spirit and love others in a way that we could never do in our own strength.
Did you know that NOTHING is being held against you and there there is NOTHING separating you from God's love? If you are believing the lie that missing the mark has effected your security in Christ, listen to today's episode for some Good News. As believers, we have been forgiven!
Wholeness is not something we can accomplish in our own strength, but it's the Father who joins with us and makes all things new. Listen to today's episode and be encouraged by the beauty of abundant life in HIM.
Celebration MAGNIFIES the GOOD in our lives! How are you living a lifestyle of celebration? What is God doing in your life and how are testifying to His goodness? Listen to this week's episode and hear how Rick and Judi take time to celebrate in their own lives.
There is power in coming together with other to celebrate! In scripture we see how celebration helps us: 1) Acknowledge God 2) Ignite Gratitude 3) Open our eyes to and heart to the good things around us Allow the power of celebration to transform your Thanksgiving week!
God's desires a FULL house, but not everyone accepts the invitation to celebrate. Listen to today's episode where Rick and Judi dive into Luke 14 and breakdown the heart of the Father in the Parable of the Great Supper.
Celebration is God's idea, and He teaches us how to celebrate all throughout scripture!
Fear is the source of our need from protection - protection from people, situations, theology, news. Love, however, always protects. As believers, we have the opportunity to reconcile and love others differently because of the love inside of us instead of isolating out of fear.
