Episode description

Welcome to the TeachHER Podcast Powered by The Innocent Brown Girl Project. Our mission is to convey strategies for Grit & Grace with educators and advocates of African American and Latina Girls. Thank you for joining us today.

Today, our guest is Ahmya Rivera. Ahmya Rivera is a high-school-aged leader, learner, and advocate. Being Founder of Youth Upholding Democracy (YUD) proves she’s passionate about creating positive change. Along with this, she actively works to provide students STEAM exploration opportunities and female role models. To this end, she created “STEAM Quest: Story-based Activity Book”! A children's book full of interactive activities that takes students through the empowering story of a young female leader. Ahmya is also in seven leadership positions in community, state-wide, and international organizations. Through these positions, she has mentored over 28 young learners, developed multiple free curriculums, and provided the first student-led computer science summit in North Carolina.
