In two thousand and four, the world of ice hockey was in for a shock.
And we are live at the Danbury Ice Arena.
A sleepy city in Connecticut called Danbury was getting its first ever professional hockey team. And the president was this guy, Hey, how you doing, pal, seventeen year old Aj Galante. But the real boss was AJ's dad, Jimmy, a big shot garbage hauler loved and feared in Danburry. She was intense.
He can tell you about the weather and it looks like he's staring into your soul.
And when Jimmy bought his son hockey team, the world was watching.
It was a tabloid story that you're going to read no matter what.
And it's not just the teenage team president that caught people's attention.
He wanted to break every bone in his body. Bone popped out, blood spurred it all over the place, throwing him like a rag doll.
It was the violence.
It was a very ugly night head hitting the ice, shoulder hitting the ice, the very ice.
For they can't right now, I'm Claire Crofton from the teams at Novel and iHeartRadio.
This is the fighty Pucks. Join me for the story. Of the most violent hockey team ever. It's a story about what happens when you're prepared to win at any cost.
Everything was going great until literally one day, it's all over. Everything's cloaking secrecy. I don't know what to say and I don't want to get shot.
Was there any part of you that felt like the cost of winning was too high?
Never?
That was guerrilla warfare at its highest.
There's the FBI side, there's my side, and somewhere in the middle of the truth.
Listen to the Fighting Pucks starting on the eleventh of May on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
I couldn't believe this.
Believe it.
It's the end of the world.
Believe it well, I come to the Jangle
