Episode description

This is a special one in a number of ways. We’re happy to finally share this show with you as it was the last Substantive Cinema show we recorded in our 1.0 era. Black Panther was also the first film we covered that was selected by The Substance’s listeners (thank you to everyone who participated)! And sadly, this film is one that has taken on even more cultural significance due to Chadwick Boseman’s passing last month. What he did as King T’Challa was immensely valuable and impressive on its own, but knowing how sick he was and how important this role was to him as a legacy character, it’s that much more impactful to go back and view now.

We hope you enjoy our discussion of Black Panther (as of this release, the fourth highest grossing film of all time). Let us know what you think of it and share your Black Panther memories and thoughts on our social media, email, or give us a call on The Substance Hotline.
