Hi and welcome back to the skate creative podcast my names Joel Curtis and I’m a musician and skateboarder
My guest week is Mathew “Wig” Worland
Wig is one of the most prolific and influential British skate photographers of the last 35 years. Starting his career in a pre digital commercial area of photography , he brought a depth and breadth of knowledge to early uk skate coverage in magazine titles R.A.D, Skate Action and Skateboard!
I talk to Wig about, growing up near the Milton Keynes skate scene, working as a commercial photographers assistant, his time at Transworld skateboarding in the 90’s, starting Sidewalk magazine out of the ashes of R.A.D, his move away from skateboard photography and back again , plus his part in the new R.A.D book out
In my time in skateboarding I shot some of my favourite photo’s with Wig and I was lucky enough to travel with him extensively around the U.K in his Volkswagen Jetta.
