Episode description

I’m Charles, and this is the Simple Not Shallow Podcast.

In this episode, I want to introduce our new series of Podcast episodes. Entitled the Coffee-side Chat series. So named because of this cup of coffee on the counter right beside me. And we’re coming to you from the hallowed halls of Mykitchen University. The kitchen table is the perfect place to sit, talk, laugh, and learn together. While sipping on a cup of beautiful coffee.

I have found that too often, the lens we use tends to be a favorite aspect of faith or lesson that…. Let me put it this way: We can get so focused on that one aspect, that one tree, if you will, that we lose sight of that tree's place in the great and dense forest that is the Christian faith. I guess you could say that I want to help us see not only that one tree but that tree's place in the rich dense forest as well.

And yes, we will take God and his love very seriously, not ourselves.

One of the hardest lessons I’ve learned is to not take myself too seriously. In fact, you could say that I take myself with a grain of salt. And, as a Christian, I’m supposed to treat everyone as I would wish to be treated, right, the Golden Rule. So, I promise I will take you with a grain of salt as well. And perhaps that way we will get some wonderful conversations going about our faith.

Hello,

I’m Charles and this is the Simple Not Shallow Podcast.

Mykitchen University, that hallowed institution where I earned my doctorate in the fine art of drinking coffee. Yes, a Ph.D. in drinking coffee… Or would that be a Ph. D.C.? Yeah, Ph. D.C. Yes, all those early morning classes did pay off. You can call me Dr. C. or Charles, just call me Charles.

The purpose of this channel is to share God and his love with all who are interested.

We will do this through conversations, such as we might have around a kitchen table. We will talk about Christ, God, how we relate to him, and basically all things Christian. We are going to do this while looking at Christianity through the lens of what it means to be a Christian.

Now, before you say, “Duh. Thank you, Captain Obvious. What else would the lens be?”

Big order you say. Good thing there is strong coffee.

Anyway, until next time.
