Episode description

To the world, it was a heavenly egg farm. But for Mei, it was hell.

For the last decade, I and other activists have been rescuing animals from the most violent places on earth. And, in many cases, this cruelty is part of a corporate cover-up. Direct Action Everywhere co-founder Ronnie Rose, a team member on our first open rescue, talks about how we built a team to expose the fraud underlying the food system and rescue animals like Mei from the brink of death. We talk about why we launched our investigation of Whole Foods, the terrifying moment when we found Mei collapsed in the litter pile, and how that initial rescue launched a movement.
We also note, however, that the movement has stalled, and ask ourselves why. If you’re interested in answering that question with us, and building a movement to rescue thousands of animals from abuse — and trigger a moral transformation that will rescue them all — join us this weekend (May 26) as we discuss a roadmap to constitutional rights. simpleheart.org/rsvp
