The Seventh Daughter contains scenes of realistic violence and graphic sexuality. It is intended for mature listeners. Have you come seeking knowledge? Do you wish to know the truth? Allow me to show you. Close your eyes and follow the sound of my voice. Allow it to lead you further into the past. Wherever my voice leads, you must follow. Let it pull you down beneath the surface of your waking mind. Feel yourself thinking deeper. Like a stone, drop into the ocean.

You slide through the depths of the cold, cold water until you settle on the bottom. When I will leave my blindfold, you may look into my eyes. Don't just look at them, look through them, and you will see what they have seen, and all my secrets will be revealed. The Seventh Daughter, Oh Gros, thank you girls, that was lovely.

For the remainder of the morning, you may go outside and enjoy the sunshine in the garden, in the lee, may the flowers of the field, the swans in our pond, and the fragrance in the air remind you of our heavenly Father who created them. What is the color of saying? That is ash man? Goodies would for having faith? Dear, that's very pretty pearl. Thank you, Sister Rays. Is there some reason you're not playing with the other girls, No, Sister Trees. Sometimes I just like to be alone. I

certainly understand. May I sit with you for a moment, Yes, of course, Pearl, what is it? In a moment, I'll ask you to come inside with me to talk to Mother Superior. Did I do something wrong? No, child, as if you could ever do anything worthy of punishment. Now there's someone here to see you from the outside, to see me. That's correct. Who is it? You'll find out soon enough. But listen to me, Pearl. What you learn in there may come as something of a surprise, a

pleasant one, I'm sure of it. But I want you to just keep your heart open, because sometimes change is God's way of providing us with new opportunities to glorify his name in ways we never could imagine change. You needn't be afraid. This is most irregular. We cannot simply allow you to come in without advanced notice and just just take the child. Only a child's parent has the authority. I am here about the authority on a child's Farah William a podcast. The third, you have the letter? Who

knows where this letter came from. Compare the signature on a liver to that one on a document. When she has got left here, that will leave no room for anyone can forge a signature. No one except her father knows the dallas here. No one will said these worlds even nor she exists. For what other purpose would I come to retriever, except to take up to what has happened to you, dear sister, to make yourself cynical? Cynical? Is it cynical for me to want to protect? What's this?

The bottom half of a card torn in half the High Priestess when the girl were left here eleven year ago. The other half of his card were placed in her basket as a sort of claim ticket, treating her as if she were a piece of luggage. I presume you still have the other half? Well, there can only be a one corresponding card. Yeah, well do the two have a mega whole? Even if you have the authority to reclaim the try There is a matter of finances. Her room and board have not been paid in at least

two years. When her father left her in our care, he did so with a promise that certain obligations to people for money. My dear woman, who I didn't just simply, I'm only trying to ensure you're saying that this modern Sittlia count I don't no, this is almost irregular. Allow me, no, that really isn't necessary. Look at it. You could certainly clothed and feared a lot of cheering with the gold, and that's on a table, if you'll forgive me for cne. It appeared to me that some of our holy sisters

She's come here today on behalf of your father, my father. What's wrong with us? You'll have to excuse her. This must come as something from a surprise to her. You see, she has no knowledge of her family, only that she has a father. Otherwise, no communication, not so much as a letter or a postcard.

So to suddenly be that's enough, Sister a Race. I'm sure ms I'm sure the woman is well acquainted with the father's, well with the family she is representing. Pearl Ms Rose has come for you. She has come to take you to your father. My father wants me, of course he does, Pearl. It was only a matter of time until he could send for you. Yes, and that time is now. Step close, a girl. Let me look at you. Show me your aunts her hands. Let's see

how well you have been cared for. How dare you mm hm ah, you have not had such a difficult time here? So saft and wait, you're not spending many hours in a field in the kitchen. I see you are right. What do you rate my lessons, penmanship, scripture? Mm hmm, open your mouth. I beg your pardon. But is this show me your teeth? Uh huh m hmm. Your father will expect to know how well they've cared for you. Here. I know your feet really now, I must inst need to be sure you are who they

say you are at her feet. Go on, Pearl, do as she asks. You cannot allow her to treat the child as that's enough terrace a piece of livestock, or as if we would would somehow deceive her by silence, Pearl, show her your feet. Satisfied, Now quite satisfied, Please gather the girl stinks. I'll instruct a carriage to leave in twenty minutes time. We have a train to catch that should be modern enough time to bid her fair winds. Come along, Pearl, I'll help you pack your things. Thank you,

Sister Teresa. My father. She's taking me to my father. Yes, it's it's wonderful. I was beginning to think he never come for me, that I'd have to spend the rest of my life alone. It really is a miracle, isn't it. What is it? Sister Trees? Aren't you happy for me? I am, of course, I am, child. I couldn't be happier. But but what you're You're going to meet your father and live with him, and I'm or you'll be very happy in his care. But let me say this to you.

The world beyond these walls can be difficult and confusing place. Should something happen, should your situation change, You're always welcome to return to us here what might happen? Life is full of surprises, Pearl, surprises and disappointments. But sister too is I shouldn't be saying these things to you. It's foolish of me, I know, but I really care about your Pearl, and I've come to look upon you as almost as a daughter, and nothing means more to me

than your happiness. So should you ever need someone or someplace, I don't understand. Is there something wrong? There's nothing to There's nothing wrong. Please, it's just it's the pain of losing you. So suddenly the heartbrick of saying goodbye? Forgive me? Can I can I say a prayer for your protection

right now? Of course, most powerful, Heavenly Father. It is with some personal sadness that I bid farewell to Pearl, But it is with immense gladness that I release her into the world, where I know you are guiding and protecting hand will remain upon her. I pray that you will provide her earthly father with the love in his heart to care for her, give him the judgment to protect her. And I pray that that this woman, this person into whose temporary care Pearl is being intrusted. That

her sister Joyce. Sister Joyce Amen now boarded the two ten Arrow had expressed north then Nashville, Louisville, Cincinnati. Leave your things there, We'll have a porter. Bringdon the board. You're there. You can't board this car. Get back to the Colored Fat. I have two second class tickets to Steal City, which can move up after they crossed the Mason Dixon. But until then you can only ride in the provate coach. This girl is in my care and taking her to her father, a very important man. I

don't make the rules, lady. Do you actually expect her to ride in the back with girl can ride where she wants, But as long as we're in this state, you don't get in that car unless you'd rather walk. I suggest you get back to the colored coach where you're along. Come along, yeah, here, I'll put your grip overhead. Go ahead and sit. Can I sit by the window if you like? How long will the train read? Last? About six hours? But sitting back here, it'll feel like twelve.

Why are you looking at me like, uh? You want to ask me something? No? Sorry? Have you never ridden a train before? No? Never? Never? Have you ever been to the city, Steel City, any city? No? Ever been outside the valley? No, ma'am. Mm hmm. Well, until I deliver you to your father. As long as you are in my care, you will do exactly as I say. Do you understand? Yes, ma'am. Do not question my judgment,

Do not defy my authority. Do you understand, Yes, ma'am, say you understand, I understand you will not say a word to anyone man, woman, black or white unless I instruct you too. Is that understood? I understand? Humph. I suppose the Good Sisters told you all about Steel City, what a dark and iniquitous place it is, haven't they. Yes,

you know what iniquitous means, sinful? Sinful, that's right, And they probably taught you about the kind of people that live in that iniquitous city and the lengths they'll go to to sink their teeth into a young girl like you. Hum. Yes, m m. Well, don't you worry, little one. Rose is not going to let any harm come to you as long as you do exactly as I say. I understand. You disobey me and I will throw you to the dogs. Yes, ma'am. Ye are you hungry? Oh? Of course you are. We'll

find ourselves something to eat. See if we can't work our way up in the world. H Are we allowed? You leave that to me? Hurry up? Now, excuse me, sir. Is there a dining car on this train? I believe there's one, Sorry, lady. Dining car is open to first and second class passengers only it's just the little girl, you see. She didn't get any lunch, and she can go ahead, but you gotta wait in the colored coach. You could always get off and get something in oak

Ward or Nashville. Yes, sir, sorry to trouble you, sir, you'll be fine, child. Let's go on back to our car. Are you all right? Child? Yes? I just lost my balance. Stand right there. Tell me if anyone is coming, how are you doing? Keep your eyes open and your mouth shut. Remember what I told you about what? Oh? Jee as? Somebody helped her handing down the stairs. All right, step aside, let me okay, what's going on? She's bleeding? What have they done to you? We were walking back to our car.

The train lurched and she just gets into That's enough now, white ours. I closed that stair on myself. Jesus, could you could any thing else? You will have to get her up itself. She's bleeding. Look at her. You won't do anything her. Poor mother. Please, the mother is going to be furious. Please the girl. The girl, tell me, young lady, are you are you boys? Just lay down on the bed just like that. We'll have to kill you. Look at her as soon as we pull into Oakwood.

Thank you, sir. I'm sure she'll be fine, just scared. More than anything. You've been most kind to the girl. We truly do regret what happened to the girl. I appreciate that, sir. Well, I suppose I should get back to the colored coat. No, ma'am. Under the circumstances, we and I speak for the railroad as well as Mr Peters and myself, we think it would be better for the girl if you stay with her and enjoy this first class compartment with our compliments. Thank you, sir. Mm hmm.

But you see, I was just what is it? I was just trying to find some food for the child when the incident occurred. She hadn't had a bite to eat all day. Oh well, I'll speak to the porter and have a bowl of souper, two bowls of soup brought to you to your compartment. Mm hmm. Is that a bowl of soup will hardly compensate her for the cunt on her head? Beg your pardon. It's a miracle she's even alive. I heard someone say the stair guard

had been left open. That's quite impossible. Nevertheless, I shall have to tell all this to her father. The Senator will be very unhappy about it. As I said, we all feel terrible about what happened, and I'm sure I could get the necessary authorization to offer a small, yes, financial compensation for her suffering. That's most generous of you. Tell me how much does a cut on the head cell for these days? How much are you asking? Make us an offer? I'll I'll see to it now, eyes open,

mouth shut, I understand. Have something to eat, then get some rest. Once we get to Steal City, will begin the ocean. This is Still City. Five minutes in Still City, it is to enlist there. There are your backs over there, get them in death the Northbound Arrowhead Express, but a part in exactly eleven. We've sent our sons to defend freedom and liberty. What are you looking for? Arms were at the station? No, child, we won't be seeing your father just uilt. There are some things we need to

take care of first. Hurry up, now, do your share to defeat the tyrants, liberty, war bonds. Hyah, Okay, we're just up here, and watch your step. Now. Is this where my father lives? This is where you're living for now until we can meet your father. Yeah, m hm, oh, drop your bags in the corner. I made up a palette for you on the floor. There's a commode outside at the end of the hall, and cold water here in the tap. Why are you looking like that? Oh

you were expecting something more. It ain't the ritz, honey. But oh the banner. I hung it there so you could have some privacy behind in it. Who's the woman whose space is painted on the canvas you can read? Called herself Davina hypnotist, mentalist, mesmerist. It is illegal to tell fortunes, but yes, you might call her that. You'll find out soon enough. But right now it's time for me to smoke my pipe and for you to stop asking questions. I'll be going out for a few hours

in the morning, but i'll be back early. Clean the room while i'm gone, yes, ma'am. And if anybody knocks on the door, don't let them in. Don't let nobody in. Um. What is it? Child? What should I call you? I mean, how should I address you? You call me Rose? Rose, That's all you need to know, Yes, ma'am. The less you know about me, the better. I must now replace my blind hold as my vision begins to fade, your own senses will gradually return, Return to the warmth in

the light of your own reality. The Seventh Daughter is a production of I Heart Radio, written and directed by Brett Wood, recorded and mixed by Rob Gal, featuring Minca Wilkes as Rose and Elizabeth Hunter as Pearl. There you may now open your eyes
