Finding the way. Find the way every week. Camoof no overthinking. All right, go play football. We play some football. Exciting time to be a Buffalo building. Been in the Buffalo Builds. Welcome into Week two of the Sean McDermott Show, presented by Connors and Ferris, your workers comp Attorneys. Sean, thank you as always for joining us. It was a tough loss to the Steelers in Week one where it seemed

like nothing went your way in the second half. What was your message to your team right after the game, and what's your message to them going forward this week against the Dolphins. Well, we talked about each and every one of us doing a better job, starting with me, and you know, just fundamentally after looking at the tape,

just just fundamentally doing things better. Sometimes the game of football we make too complicated and we've got a block better, catch better, run better, tackle better and then put ourselves in better position in critical situation. So just just really starting with myself and then everyone taking their responsible to

accountability for it. As the football teamer, well, he held the Steelers to just fifty three total yards in the first half and had a ten o lead, and then in the second half felt like you couldn't catch a break. You had some tough penalties and a block punt return for a touchdown, And on the other side, the Steelers had four straight scoring drives which were perpetuated by some of those penalties. Did they do anything in the second half that changed at the moment of the game or

was it all about breaks and penalties? Well, I think there was a stretch in the game there where they made some big plays, right with the block punt for a touchdown, we come back. I think on the ensuing drive, things don't go our way. I think on the fourth down, I think that was the next drive there, so or what have you. So it was just a quick change in momentum overall, and the game comes down to a handful of plays and we had some opportunities that we

didn't take advantage on. We need to do a better job with You said it was a big focus to improve your pass rush this last offseason. Your defense came out swinging the first half, had a couple of sacks and they finished the game with six hits on the quarterback. What did you think of the way your defensive line got after Ben in Week one? Yeah, I thought they really did some good things. Eric Washington did a good job of rolling some of the bodies in their fresh bodies.

And if he saw Mario Addison early with the sack fumble, and I wish we could have got on that because that could have been changing the game and the outcome of the game perhaps. And I thought Jerry Hughes did some good things. Greg Rousseau, you saw a jappen, az Ed Oliver, just to name a few of the guys. And so I think, listen, the challenges are only going to grow and get better, and so it's important that

we continue to grow with those challenges. Yeah, under opening day, Josh came out of the tunnel to chance of MVP, but he didn't have one of his signature performance that we got used to seeing last season. But still he finished with two hundred and seventy yards and a touchdown through the air, and he made some great throws in windy conditions. What'd you see in Josh's performance against Pittsburgh, Well,

I think you hit it, Steve. You know, there was some players I know Josh wants back, but overall, you know, there was a lot of good moments as well. I mean, we spread the ball around at times to the different receivers. Hit the tight end on a backed up situation, which was a huge throw obviously, Gabe Davis before half was a huge throw in a tight window. And you know how hard it is in the red zone, how small

those windows are down there. So I thought Josh really did some good things and I know he's going to look to improve as we head into week two here. Well, the new guy, Emmanuel Sanders had four catches on eight targets for fifty two yards. He and Josh failed to connect on a deep one and looked like it was going to be a touchdown early on, but they do seem to have some chemistry. What did you think of Sanders in his Bill's debut. Yeah, I thought he played fast.

I know there was a player two in there where he and Josh didn't connect or Josh then hit him I think over in the seam one time over the middle and they knocked the ball out of his hands. So another opportunity for us that we got to make the most of next go around. But great to get Emanuel going, especially early in his career as a Bill here and off to a good start, and his rapport with Josh in Game one. After the game, Mitch Morris said, the loss to the Steeler was really a gut check

and an opportunity to learn. How do you think your team can learn from this loss to the Steelers to get better moving forward and in particular here in week two in Miami. Well, I think it offers a wake up call early in the season here for us, right and it starts mentally. We've got to make sure we're mentally dialed in and recalibrated into continuing to earn things. You know, that comes with expectations. Sometimes as a human

you get a little bit off kilter. And so I think it's a great wake up call, if you is the right way. We've got to learn from it, and we've got to continue to grow and get ourselves back to playing Buffalo Bill style football. Thanks coach, We're gonna catch up with you later in the show to get your final thoughts on your upcoming matchup with the Dolphins on Sunday. We'll be back everybody. Game preview is presented by Independent Elf You deserve the red shirt treatment, Mattie

glab Here with this week's game preview. The Buffalo Bills will head to Miami for their first road trip of the twenty twenty one season. Bills are searching for their first victory, while the Dolphins are one in oz with a Week one win over the Patriots. Wide receiver Stefan Diggs was the leading receiver with nine catches for sixty nine yards, continuing his streak of seventeen straight games, including

the playoffs, with six or more receptions. The Bills offense is looking to bounce back in Quarterback Josh Allen is known to play well against the Dolphins. He has thrown for seventeen touchdowns and has a one fourteen point three passer rating against the AFC East foe. Allen has also earned AFC Offensive Player of the Week in three out of six career games against Miami. In Week one, Buffalo's defense held the Steelers to just sixteen points and recorded

two sacks. They also had an answer for limiting first round running back Naja Harris to just two point eight yards per carry, which could play into limiting Dolphins running back Miles Gaskin this week. The Dolphins were able to sneak by with a one point win in their first game of the season thanks to their defense forced four fumbles. They recovered two of those four, and the last one

happened in the red zone, which secured the win. Miami quarterback two A Tongue of Iloa is using year two to prove why Miami made the right decision by drafting him. He threw for two hundred and two yards, had a passing and a rushing touchdown, and one interception while completing fifty nine percent of his passes against the Patriots. The Bills have won the last five games against Miami and have beat the Dolphins in the last seven of eight

games since Sean McDermott took over as head coach. Miami does lead the all time series with sixty one wins and fifty two losses. That's this week's game preview, Steve back to you. Thanks as always, Maddie, coach. You're gonna have your first regular season road trip of the year heading down to Miami this week. How different are your road trips going to be this year than they were last year under the more strict COVID protocols. Well, we'll see.

We've been on the road a few times through preseason to this point, but not in the regular season. This will be one of our further trips, our longer trips that will have this season, but it's too a familiar place and so we'll get a chance to get down there and get acclimated to the heat a little bit. And it's important that we're hydrated all week long as we head down there and prepare for our game against Miami.

And you know, we're going to do our best to stay as healthy as we can and go down there and do our job and then try and get back here in the safest way possible. Well, you'll face two a Tonga Voloa, a quarterback for the second time in his career. He threw for a touchdown and ran for another in their win against the Patriots in Week one. What are you expecting to see out of this second year quarterback in Miami. Well, I'm sure he spent a

lot of the offseason working on his game. Puts in a lot of time from what I know what I've heard, and they've added weapons to his arsenal and offense with Waddle who's a great receiver with the ball in his hands and a kickpunt returner as well. So you saw them go up to New England in a tough environment and beat a good football team and the Patriots, and now they're one to oz and sitting atop the division. And so we've got to go down there with the

right mindset and ready to put our best foot forward. Well, the Dolphins added wide receiver Jalen Waddle with the sixth overall pick in this year's draft. This last offseason, he had four catches for sixty one yards and a touchdown in his debut. How does the added element of his

speed change the way you're preparing for the Dolphins offense? Yes, Steve, you see him trying to get him the ball and get the ball in his hands so he can do something with it in the rack category in terms of run after catch, and he's dangerous, and so we've got to make sure that we corral him as best week can. Thanks coach, good luck this week in Miami. We're gonna be back next week to recap your game against the Dolphins and preview your Week three matchup against the Washington

football team. Thanks everybody at home for watching the Sean McDermott Show, presented by Connors and Ferris. We'll see you next week and as always, Go Bills. Final Thoughts is presented by Toyota, the official vehicle of the Buffalo Bills,
