I want to know if you would have done what I did for a laugh. Okay, I'll tell you the story just a second. It's the JB
and Sandy Show. Be with us again tomorrow eight until nine o'clock and grab the podcast wherever it is that you get your podcasts. So if you're just joining us, we were just talking about why we were going last week because we went to the Army Navy game and my cousin has a home in Annapolis and so we stayed at his house. So we saw a lot of a lot of them. So shout out to Sean and Joanne if they're listening to the podcast, thank you for
the hospitality. But so I want to know, JB, if you would you ever go for a laugh and you knew that only one person in your group would laugh, because yeah, yeah, go ahead, And I can't tell you what I said because it's wildly inappropriate.
Yeah.
So, my my cousin's wife was telling a story about how when their son was seven years old, he got run over by a golf cart and the golf cart was on top of them. And she told this, this whole story, and in typical chick fashion, every single detail.
About it.
And I made a crude joke, oh.
Boy, that I knew. I knew the only person that would laugh would be my cousin Sean, and I was right. And the girls just looked at me, like, you are an a hole.
Horrible person, a horrible person.
But have you ever done that? Would you go for the laugh when you know only one person's gonna laugh? Oh? Yeah?
Probably?
Yeah. I have are.
Misses than hiss.
You know.
That's what I'm like, the babe ruth of humor. You know, you get the home runs, but man, boy do I strike out a lot.
Hey, you guys keep throwing it out there, right, Yeah, I gotta keep thinking.
I can't share what it was, so I know that sucks.
I really can't. I mean, it was terrible, It's terrible, but it was. It was one of those things. I have a tough time explaining this to some people because they just don't get what I said was so wrong and so inappropriate that it was funny.
Then it came all the way back around to being funny and kind of accessible, right, you.
Know what I mean? If you have friends like that, like that, you have text threads with that, if those ever got out in the public people with.
Yeah, yeah, of course yeah.
And I just I verbalized it, you know, I thought it was funny and it was funny.
So the people who didn't get the joke, what did they think? You're creepy, You're disgusting, I don't.
Ahead, like, stop talking and.
It's probably what. But my cousin died laughing, and that's all I needed. I wanted him to think that I was funny. So did we tell you about our nightmarish trip there to the East coast? We got delayed, We got diverted. First time travel I've ever been diverted, like mid flight. We're going to DC from Dallas. Landed in Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh of all places, because yeah, there were high winds and what was the deal? We were one not away from being able to fly.
Yeah, we landed at like six point thirty, got off the plane at seven and hung around for like four and a half five hours before they finally canceled the flight.
But in between they would.
Come on the PA and say, all right, we're just waiting for those wins to die down by one more knot so it's not dangerous. And I was like, I'm going to need it to be a lot more low than one knot.
Why why are we going to cut it so close?
Yeah, but most people, if they get on the airplane, say yeah, we're fixing a part. It's going to take a couple hours. Most people would say just go, you'll be fine. That said that, yes, go.
And that you'd also say, they'd say thank you for choosing you know, United Airlines, and go.
We didn't choose you.
Were you were going where I wanted to go at about the time. I wanted to go for the least amount of money.
That's why I'm here.
I didn't choose you, right, But it was a good trip. And we'll take a quick break coming up. Jabie and I and your wife I think watched did Aaron watch the Jamie Fox special with you?
Yes? We did.
We watched it over the weekend and it was not what I expected, but it was amazing at the same time.
I watched it too.
We'll tell you have you seen it, Tea, I haven't watched it.
No, right, we'll tell you a little bit of what you can kind of expect if you haven't seen it. Coming up on Austin's eighty station one o three point one. It's the Sandy Show and we are thrilled to collaborate with our bank. Easily open an account online at www dot r job bank. Remember Fdi s hey Before we get into our thoughts on the Jamie Fox special on Netflix, which Jab and his wife watched and I watched. Trisha has not seen it yet. I do need to thank
Trisha for something. Oh I wanted to say, I don't have. It's thank you, I want to say. But on our trip over the weekend, you were thank you for being photogenic. He actually took some good posts.
Oh right, I am better looking on the East Coast. That's the only they have better lighting on the East Coast.
I jb the most the worst photo person to take a photo, most unphotogenic person ever, Like I look like a troll in some of my pictures.
And we take a bunch of.
Pictures over the weekend, and I'm going to say seventy five percent of them.
Look pretty good.
Looks pretty good.
Yeah, well, thank you, thanks for doing that.
Thanks you your thoughts on the Jamie Fox special that's on Netflix. I'd love to hear him.
I know this will be tricky because it hasn't been out very long. I don't want to give away too much because let's start with this.
It is.
I thought it was just going to be all jokes, you know, typical comics special on Netflix. It is an emotional roller coaster highs and lows big time.
And again, without.
Giving away too much, Jamie Fox had a near death experience and he shares a lot of that, and he gets very emotional, very emotional throughout the thing, and then you can't. Again, I don't want to give away too much, but he has this way of threading the stories from tears to a joke and you think he's just winging it and then boom, they do a set flicker.
Behind him, goes into some music and he might start singing.
He you know, and.
I guess there were a bunch of rumors that there it was a clone of Jamie Fox that he had died that and and again this won't give away too much, and he's like, if I'm the clone, could I do this?
Can I do this? And he does a lot of things that we know him for.
Uh, it's even I will even say this, at times it felt like church. Yeah, it felt very religious, very spiritual, and he obviously was getting a lot off his chest. He includes his daughters, which is amazing, the way he incorporated them into the program. But if you think it's just him going up and telling a bunch of jokes, it is not that. And then when he the way he threads it all together to to from jokes to tears to music, it basically puts him on this whole
other level of talent. Uh, you know, and not you know, not to pick on anybody, but if you compare it to the current hot comics or whatever, you know, the Theovonn's of the world or whoever, again, they're great and they're own right, love them. This just shows what an extraordinary talent he is all around, not just telling jokes, right.
He's more than I thought the same thing. I also think that he used this. I don't know if to apologize or to to just cleanse himself of an enormous ego. I think he realized that he he this, his ego was out of control before this. And he makes a big deal about how this doesn't happen to Jamie Fox. I'm Jamie Fox. I'm Jamie Fox. You know, and this I you know, I this doesn't happen.
And I think it changed him, Like it run him down a couple of notches, made him realizy still human and one nurse did it.
Yeah, he talks a lot about it's basically his gratitude for a second chance. Yeah, like that's with that with a different lens to look at life. Yeah, he's definitely looking at life differently.
So he's so good at his craft that it makes you think that he's just winging it and just chatting. Really, it's all very calculated, and he knows exactly what's going to happen when except he.
Knows exactly except he was deeply emotional. He was He broke down himself many times. And I don't think that gives away too much.
No, he struggled. There's some pauses in there when you're when he's just in the crowd encourages him and yeah, you know, they say that they love him. It's good, it really is. But you're right GB his you know, he's on a whole different level of stand up comedian talent. I mean, the guy can sing, he can dance, he can play the piano, he can be funny, he can do some in person nations that are.
Just impersonations are amazing.
His chappelle is.
Crazy, and they do a lot of shots of the crowd and the women are in tears, they're praying, they're crying, they're just they're laughing their butts off.
It was unbelievable. I want to watch it again. Let me ask you did did? I mean? I cry pretty easily?
Did you cry at any moment? Get a little teared up? Not your style?
Really, I get No, I'm too cynical.
I've seen Sandy cry like four times ever in the twenty one years i've known him.
It's when I watch Rocky every time it's Rocky, when I watched Rudy, things like that.
I get it.
I get it.
But you know, yeah, oh I was. I was in tears most for half of it. Well, if you were, what was your wife like?
Oh, she's more like she's real stoic. She doesn't. Don't make her cry?
Does it make her uncomfortable and you cry in front of her?
No, she knows.
I'm a crier.
And when Sandy cries in front of me, I'm oh, go, what's happening?
It totally wigs me out.
No, she yeah, she doesn't cry. In fact, her friends made her sit down, drink a bunch of wine and watch the Notebook just to.
Steep she cry, just see if she could cry.
And she did get her a little bit. But she doesn't cry. She does, she doesn't get real emotional with that kind of stuff. Tricia does, What.
Do you mean you cry at movies and stuff?
I'll cry it movies, I'll cry it silly things. But like if it's something big happening that clearly I should be crying. Like everybody around me is crying a funeral something like that. I got nothing dry as a bone, and I'm like, I almost in some of those situations have been like trying to make myself cry because it's what the appropriate emotion would be. But I don't. But
then stupid little things. I'll just stop kids interacting with garbage, Yeah, with garbage men or two different animal species that are unlikely friends like.
It's weird the things that eventually get me.
It's definitely worth watching and it's on Netflix. It's the new Jamie Fox Special. He addresses everything that happened to him and it's worth the watch, so make sure you check it out. That's it for today, Thank you very much for listening. You can find us on Instagram at the Sandy Show Official Facebook is at the Sandy Show Radio
