As festive season grows ever closer do we start to show a more generous side to game banter? Heck no! Listen to Zac tear Skyrim a new one. Rob covers some tennis titles (thanks to friend of the show Eddie), a bit of Uncharted 3 and a couple of Arcade gems leaving Dan scurry around in the third portion of DiRT some more.
Dec 11, 2011•Ep. 45
Filthy. I was highly tempted just to leave it at that. It does aptly describe the content of Codemasters' seminal racing series, and your mind. On top of all that glorious filth, we talk about Magicka, Battlefield 3 and some finishing notes on Deus Ex. And Rob forgets his own rules and talks about those goddamn assassins some more. Filthy.
Nov 28, 2011•Ep. 44
It is indeed Sonic time! Like there was any way we were going to pass on the biggest release of the year. Oh what's that? You want a Skyrim or CoD review? Shove it! For now those games spark a debate on games reviewing in general. Lament. Also covered is Battlefield 3, Mortal Kombat and... well that’s about it. Weird that we didn’t talk about the unoffcial SaladCast firework event of last week. You’ll just have to ponder the meaning of "cubes of dissapointment".
Nov 14, 2011•Ep. 43
With the Beta gone but not forgotten we have to cover the biggest modern warfare shooter release of this year: Battlefield 3. Not that other one. In all the excitement we don't really think about the harsh reality of halloween. Giving sweets to children on our doorsteps just sounds creepy anyway. Dan plays a bit more Deus Ex, Zac goes industrial in Minecraft while Rob subjects the listeners to more Assassin’s Creed II. PS. More audio experiments this week as we play with the "auto-gain". Let us ...
Oct 31, 2011•Ep. 42
Being outside must play havoc with our feeble immune system and time keeping abilities. This late edition of the SaladCast sees us return to the hole from whence we came. But not without games! Plenty of Battlefield 3 Beta impressions, more informed Gears of War 3 opinion and a liberal dose of Deus Ex progress round off this post's feature list.
Oct 16, 2011•Ep. 41
I don't know about nature. It's alive, varied and mostly outdoors. 3 things you probably wouldn’t associate with the typical gamer. But here we are, recording a podcast OUTSIDE! Somehow we rattle through a lot of recent releases with little to no hesistancy. Maybe the slight breeze casts Haste upon our vocals? Zac covers the indie scene once more with the Minecraft Adventure update, completing S.P.A.Z. two more times (jeez) and Blocks that Matter. Dan continues to catch up to Zac in Deus Ex: Hum...
Sep 26, 2011•Ep. 40
Once again we are graced by Matt Makin as a special guest to help talk MORE Assasin's Credd with Rob. Zac and Dan get quite heated covering the finer point of Deus Ex: Human Revolution. No lasting damage. They’re fine. More in two weeks. ...I didn’t know just how much blood someone has.
Sep 12, 2011•Ep. 39
It's Deus Ex week! Ok, so there isn't that much Deus Ex coverage this week. We do mention it but to get the full effect we want two of the three of us to report. Enter Zac, Dan and a reasonable dose of waistline augmenting chicken pieces. Rob actually talks MORE Assassin's Creed in the mean time. He's a little bit sorry. There is Gamescom to cover though featuring the Old Republic, Guild Wars 2 and of course Battlefield 3 "conjecturising". Dan finally plays Black Ops, Zac goes all S.P.A.Z and Ro...
Aug 30, 2011•Ep. 38
Just for the record, all the things people say about beer and wine and mixing are totally true. All of them. Even the bits that contradict the other bits. Rob is living proof of this and is nursing a monster hangover. Don't mix. You will thank us one day. We talk a lot of games and kinda just run out of material, and pad for a bit at the end. Fine if you're in a rush and need a slightly smaller salad morsel. There's some Bulletstorm and Kinect Sports from Rob, the usual Teraria, Minecraft and Sp...
Aug 15, 2011•Ep. 37
3 weeks have passed since the last cast. Who's fault is that? Well it's kinda ours. No excuse. We got lazy. To celebrate our return here's a blurb that represents the spirit of laze: Games, games, talking about games, blabla, Rob, Bulletstorm, Dan, L.A Noire, Zac, Just Cause 2, games, games, bla-di-bal-ba-bla, moo.
Aug 01, 2011•Ep. 36
Dan is unavailable this week but Zac was just too enthusiastic about news. So here we are with another "soon to be trademarked" Tardcast. Zac talks much Eve as the drama over the Incarna patch unfolds. He also reveals the extent of hackery that has befallen the Sonic Generations demo. Potential spoilers maybe? This provides Rob with an excuse to deliver ample quantities of Sonic related discussion, as always.
Jul 10, 2011•Ep. 35
Whew, summer is really on us now. The heat does seem to mess with our words somewhat. Or at least that's Zac's excuse. On the plate of the all you can eat gaming buffet this week, the Sonic Generations demo and more Valkyria Chronicles from Rob, L.A. Noire and Assasin's Creed with Dan and Spiral Knights, Eve and TF2 from Zac. Well, you can eat our words for about 2 hours. We don’t trust the all you can eat policy THAT much.
Jun 27, 2011•Ep. 35
Better finish what we started. Time to get seriously opinionated about PSVita, 3DS and Wii U. Rob becomes a right cynic, Dan sees the bright side, Zeg doesn't seem to care much about anything except Battlefield 3. We end up with a bit of time left over so get down to the some spoilerific Portal 2 discussion. We did say it would come eventually and we deliver.
Jun 12, 2011•Ep. 34
About that time eh chaps? Righto! I shouldn't really need to explain this. I mean it's only the biggest thing in the gaming calendar. Over 2 hours of trying to talk about everything that happened and we still don't cover it all. Taking the chronological route through the tirade of news we take you through our reactions to Microsoft, EA and Ubisoft's press conferences before settling that half of Sony's gig will have to wait for another cast where we'll finish with Sony's biggest news and try to ...
Jun 10, 2011•Ep. 33
Due to an unforeseen failure in Dan's immune system the usual arrangement of casting in the Room of Doom cannot happen this week. This gives you the opportunity to play a fun game of "count how many time we talk over each other". Such fun. In this episode Zeg covers new indie 2D Minecraft-style; release Teraria and gets a taste of dictatorship with Tropico 3. Rob begins to tackle two more games new to him with the 3D tactical anime war game Valkyria Chronicals and gets his trademark rant on towa...
May 30, 2011•Ep. 32
Summer is definitely upon us as certain inevitabilities come to pass. The clouds roll in, Rob's phrase book rolls out, distracting noises become the norm. Amidst all this we still manage to continue the Batman and SpaceChem coverage and GASP! Breaking news as Dan gets a Duke Nukem Forever hands on! Look at us being all professional and journalist like. Also we rag on Brink a bit... which we haven’t played.
May 16, 2011•Ep. 31
Deciphering the world of Pokémon on a cup of coffee in the Abode of Unfortunate Ends is a tough task. Among Zac's thoughts of Pokémon Black/White we can’t help but be confused how about such a world could possibly work with such ignorant occupants. Rob continues following Dan's gaming suggestions and finally starts playing Batman: Arkham Asylum. Dan hasn't played too much but we fill the gap with more Portal 2 talk (mostly spoiler free still), the usual Minecraft and TF2 entries with a surprise ...
May 03, 2011•Ep. 30
There was no avoiding it, Portal 2 has taken over the gaming world. We tried not to talk about it we really tried... but then we kinda played it so only made it halfway through the cast before we spill the beans. Note that this is as spoiler free as we could manage. Aside from this behemoth, Rob finishes Red Dead Redemption and Moves like a crazy man in front of the Kinect sensor. Zeg hasn't caught them all so there's more Pokémon coverage and Dan puts his hos before his bros in more Assassin’s ...
Apr 23, 2011•Ep. 29
This week in the "Sitting Room of Armageddon" the Saladites discuss the video game they have been playing over the last two weeks. A novel concept I'm sure you'll agree. Rob nears the completion of Red Dead Redemption (at last), Dan picks up where previous guest, Matt, left off with Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood and Zac plays some new games ( shock ) by wading into the most recent demos availbale on Steam.
Apr 11, 2011•Ep. 28
The lounge of inexplicable peril is populated with all regular contenders. One year has past since Episode 1. Only one thing can occur... Season 2 of the SaladCast is so ON right now! Rob expresses his hurt caused by Nintendo in the wake of the 3DS launch and hates on Mexico, Zac gets deeper into Pokémon and a few other RPGs and Dan... well Dan is back. Which is nice.
Mar 29, 2011•Ep. 27
Another special guest joins the fray in the form of Matt Makin with the inexplicable power of causing himself to record at a different rate to everyone else. Made the editing REEEAL easy I can tell ya. Rob starts his Rockstar pilgrimage in yet more Red Dead coverage, Zeg thought he'd caught them all but them Pokémon just messed up his life some more and Matt rebuilds the clan of merciless killers in Assassin's Creed Brotherhood.
Mar 15, 2011•Ep. 26
Once again we find that fate has shoved us into the same room for this week's cast. It does make a difference to the quality in a number of ways. Sound may suffer but banter improves IMO! Many meandering conversations occur including discussion on good console names, Naomi makes a contribution representing the beginner gamer and there’s some stalking news. Specific game discussions include returning favourites Monday Night Combat, Final Fantasy XIII and Red Dead Redemption with the "new old game...
Feb 27, 2011•Ep. 26
Not much on new games front this week as Rob tackles the latest installment in the classic JRPG series in the form of Final Fantasy XIII (not XIV, you can't expect that of us, ever). Zac helps explain Rob’s second impressions of Monday Night Combat and falls deeper into the MMO trap WURM Online. We also find it hard to add to Dan's continued reporting on Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare. Listen as we deftly pad the episode at the end. I think we get away with it. cough . And have I ever tol...
Feb 20, 2011•Ep. 25
After deciding very quickly that we need to suck less, the gaming news flows forth. Featuring Rob discussing Japan's answer to the cover shooter, Vanquish and the connection woes of Call of Duty: Black Ops. Zac drops the bomb on the similarities between Monday Night Combat and TF2, and unrealistic frontier realism MMO WURM Online. Dan continues the Rockstar patronage and goes zombie hunting in the wild west in Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare. Lot of dates, as in years, mentioned this week ...
Feb 05, 2011•Ep. 24
Driving seems to be main theme this time. We've all been playing them racing games. The Steam sales have magical properties like that. Rob gushes about Blur, confirming its awesomeness, Dan arrives late to the Dirt 2 party and Zac.... plays Eve some more. Well he did play some Dirt too (see what I did there?). There’s also some ranting about the 3DS before it's out, some SpaceChem and Super Meat Boy. How lucky you are!
Jan 21, 2011•Ep. 23
Wow ok, where to begin. This epic special episode is dedicated to the most epic award (and a few others) that can be bestowed upon a game: the Saladcast GOTY. Including supporting roles from Best Musical Score, Most Memorable Moment and Biggest Disappointment in Gaming 2010! Strap yourselves in. This was tough.
Dec 30, 2010•Ep. 22
Christmas (or the "festive season") is nearly upon us so we decide that we won't really talk about it much. Save that for next week. That'll be special, just you see! For now Zac will take you through the first Golden Sun game for 6 years and some breakout clonage in Shatter. Rob finishes up with the metal lords of Brütal Legend, begins on Bioshock 2 and targets TF2 again. Dan gets squeezed out a little again but does drop some nuggets on Super Meat Boy, Halo Reach and Batman.
Dec 19, 2010•Ep. 21
Rob still seems a bit pessimistic this week ranting off about Gran Turismo 5 again, and lamenting the state of rythm games. Zac and Dan are a little more upbeat and positive about the recent Indie sales on Steam, World in Conflict and Batman: Arkham Asylum. Brutal Legend comes up again as do the obligatory Halo, CoD and TF2 segments. Perhaps we should have talked about Christmas a little more but that is so last year... and the year before that and... I think you see my point.
Dec 06, 2010•Ep. 20
Eddie thinks my title for this podcast sounds like an extinct dinosaur. I just think I was clutching at straws... but hey, it's not about this description it’s about the talky talk! Rob finishes his round up of Black Ops after a more thorough playtest, Zac continues his trek through games of yore with DOSBox and Startopia while Dan once again take us to GTA IV territory briefly before making some legendary progress in Reach. We also get a little time to discuss to motion controls again and theor...
Nov 24, 2010•Ep. 19
Rob's been playing games. Probably too many games. He talks for like, half the show... straight. Sorry about that… like. He does cover Brütal Legend, PGR 4 and a bit of Black Ops though. Zeg gets a fair bit of air time too explaining the nuances of Supreme Commander 2 and introducing us to Codex of Alchemical Engineering. I hadn’t heard of it either. That leaves Dan to like... run out of time. Sorry Dan.
