Episode description

When I asked Namira to tell me a bit about herself, my jaw hit the floor. Namira Anani is the daughter of Bangledeshi immigrants. She is a Lawyer and Graphic Designer, which are an interesting combination! She finds a connection between the two in creativity; creativity in law around ideas and concepts instead of layout or fonts, exploring various forms of problem solving and legal creativity. Namira works in anti-racism education, racial justice, racial equity, healing and grief, as well as storytelling and narrative building.

Namira has an incredible family foundation of leaders and heart-driven citizens who were always spreading kindness and love. Her Dad founded a non profit organization serving orphaned kids, using education as a tool to end the cycle of poverty.

So much of Namira’s life has been dedicated to examining systems and educating others. In this conversation, Namira takes us through some of her journey, including her own experiences feeling othered, and how that has been so pivotal in the work she does today.
