Mayor of Richmond, VA Lieutenant Governor, Governor of Virginia. Hear the life story of Lawrence Douglas Wilder. Born January 17, 1931 seventh of eight children grandson of slaves and rose to be so much more. Attended Virginia Union University a HBCU and worked his way through and graduated in 1951 with a degree in chemistry. Awarded the Bronze Star for his service.
