Episode description

This is the of Jupiter Hammon the founder/ father of African American Literature. Born October 17, 1711 Hammon is know as the founder of African American literature, as him poem was published in 1761 in New York. The piece was titled 'An Evening Thought: Salvation by Christ with Penitenial Cries'. He used his biblical foundation to criticize the insitiution of slavery. Sadly there isn't too much known on him but the goal was to bring awareness to his name. Thank you Mr. Hammon for African American Literature. As a writer without and your start none of my journey would be possible.
