Well what are you waiting for? Let's rise and conquer. Hey guys, welcome to another episode of the Rise and Conquer Podcast.
Today I have a solo episode for you, and we are chatting nighttime routine. So this episode has come about because this week so exciting. We just launched a brand new product over at Naked Harvest, which is the all natural supplement company I co own with my brother, and we launched one of the first like really different my favorite product, chocolate Moon Milk. So Moon Milk is a
supplement that you would take. It's a magnesium supplement that you would take in the afternoon or at night that just basically helps calm your mind, let your body relax, lets your muscles relax, and get you in a state where you can have a really good sleep. So there's a bit of a background on this product. And I have this whole history with having really lots of issues with my sleeps and my drenals and all those fun things.
So I thought I would do an episode where I chat about that sort of background and then also go into my nighttime routine because I have been doing a little trial and error, I feel like I pretty much got to a point where I am getting the best sleeps and it works really well for me. So let's
chat about that. So you guys know, I'm pretty obsessed with my routines and rituals and forming good habits, and something that I feel like we all don't chat about enough is having a good nighttime routine, or some people call it like having good sleep hygiene. And I know there's a huge focus on like morning routines and that sort of side of things, but oh my god, guys, when your nighttime routine is on point, it completely sets you up for the day. And I know we also
have just gone through. Even though we're getting better, we've also gone through this period of time. Especially I found in our self development like very Gary V style of like I'll sleep when I'm dead, and you've got to, you know, especially if you're working in your own business
or working hard on your career. It is all about like working super hard, working up at night, and it's almost like bragging rights if you're like, oh, I didn't go to Beddell till one am because I was I don't know, doing my emails or something something silly like that. But basically, what everyone is starting to realize that, yeah, one hundred percent, if you've got a deadline or something happening, you might need to have you know, a night where
in your laptop or whatnot. But it is not sustainable to not get good sleep. I was actually listening to a podcast and I will see if I can remember it, but basically they were going into sleep and if you don't get like good sleep, it reduces your lifespan. And I think it was it was something ridiculous by like five years or something like. Because if you think about it, this is not like a scientific term, but I'm gonna do a georgy term, you know. I love to do that.
And basically, if you think about it, when we sleep, our body is recovering. It's fixing, you know things, it's fixing stuff that needs to be done, and it's like fixing our brain, and it's like replenishing everything, and it's just like getting everything sorted so you can run the next day. So you can imagine if you are constantly not getting enough sleep and cutting sleep short or not getting good sleep, how like your body is just like it's not getting what it's need, it is not recovering,
and yeah, it's just not sustainable. And so I think we definitely we need to break this stigma of like sleep when you're dead or you know, like that sort of thing, because I just don't agree. And it's funny because so I'll go and go into like my sort of sleep thing. I have always been someone who's like I go to bed early, around nine o'clock and then I wake up early, and like my circadian rhythm has always just worked that way, and I've just found that
I thrive that way. And recently, maybe six months ago, I you know, I was quite stressed. Stuff was happening at work. I was super anxious, and a lot was happening, and I was really struggling to get to sleep. So my mind would just be racing and I would be stressing about things, and it would be like I would go like actual like jump in bed around nine o'clock, like Tim would fall asleep, but I would not get
to sleep until eleven. And then it was very much like that sleep where you like you drift in but you're still thinking about things and basically wasn't getting good quality sleep. I would then you know, try and wake up in the morning, and I could never wake up as early as I wanted, and I always felt like tired. And basically I went through this for a couple of months. I remember this just just before Christmas time. Anyway, I
was like just so drained and so exhausted. I remember I literally got on my YouTube channel and was like crying into the camera because I was just like, guys, I'm so I'm so exhausted, I am so stressed. And then it was like kind of this like negative cycle, and it's like because I wasn't getting good sleep, everything was just going to shit, Like my hormones were out of whack and like my stress was out of whack.
And then basically what ended up happening is it went over Christmas time, and me and Tim didn't take like a full Christmas break because we were specially to go to Europe this year, which didn't end up happening, so but we did just take like a good week off, and I remember for a week I just like wasn't working and we were doing kind of different stuff, and I remember getting good sleeps and the difference I felt from one week of just getting good sleep was like
I felt like a whole new human. It was like I remember telling Tim and he was like, oh my god. Anyway, I went back to work, I went back to you know, my anxious little self, and basically the whole sleepless night started again, and I was just like, I feel like, crap, this is not normal. Anyway. Long story short is, I got some blood tests done and I was quite low
on some key vitamins and minerals. So I was really low on some different stuff, and basically the doctor was like, you need to start supplementing with magnesium and zinc just because it's quite low. You really need it. It's basically
good for everything. Anyway, So I did that. I felt a lot better, and then I was doing some research into this, and basically I found a lot of research that said a lot of people are super deficient in magnesium and zinc just because this is stuff that we should be getting from our It's like it comes in our food through the soil, and because of the way that our food is now farmed, and especially if we're you know, eating produce from like woolies or coals, where
it's very like mass farmed and the soil isn't the best, and it's not you know, or as organic and good as it can be. We're not getting our magnesium and zinc. And then when those levels are low, you don't get good sleep. And then when you don't get good sleep, everything goes to shit. So like even stuff like I'll rattle off some stuff. So sleep plays a huge role in our physical health, in balancing hormones, so balancing your estrogen, your testosterone, and you know, making sure your cycle is
all good. And also sleep is huge for our immune system. So I feel like we all know if we're like kind of getting sick and then you know, you might have a night out on the town or something and you don't get to bed till late, and then you wake up and you're sick or you're sick that week. And I think also like we just know we get a lot more done when we're rested. And then something too. I kind of wanted to just like touch on what's happening at the moment with lockdown and we're you know,
we're working from home. I always work from home, so our routines might be just a bit off, and it's like more important than ever to be getting good sleep because you know, our anxiety is a little bit higher with everything happening, and if we're not getting good sleep, this can play into our anxiety and just stuff like, you know, because we're not leaving the house as much. It's a huge thing to get like exposure outdoor light to help with our hormones, to help with our sleeping patterns,
our circadia rhythm and that sort of thing. Like actually, like a tip for your morning routine, guys, I know makes no sense in here, but I'll just put it in here. Is like in your morning routine at some point if you can go outside and somehow get like the light or sun just like on your head, on your forehead, it just really helps with telling your body that hey, it's morning and your circadian rhythm starts and then and like by the time it's nighttime, you should
be ready to go to bed. And then, you know, like a huge thing is like at the blue lights coming off our phone and having this huge, you know thing where our notification is always going up and even though it doesn't feel stressful to you because you know, you're always on your phone humans, and like having notifications like that is a relatively new thing. So it actually like it's almost called like low lying stress, and it's
basically just always there. So long story shorts, implementing a nighttime routine, making sure you're getting the right things in your body and make sure you're getting like a deep, good sleep, and you actually have a nighttime routine that's getting you ready for sleep, rather than just straight from your phone like on your pillow and thinking, oh yeah, I'll just get a good sleep. It is so important
to prioritizing it. So I'm going to get into what my nighttime looks like, and then I'll also get into our new product, Chocolate Moon Milk, and just explain a little bit about why we put in certain ingredients and why you need them and all that sort of stuff. Okay, so my nighttime routine really starts in the afternoon when
I finish work. And so I think I've spoke about this on the pod before, but a huge thing for me is shutting off work, you know, at five or six, and having a finishing work ritual or activity that tells myself or tells my brain that Okay, we're no longer working, we're getting ready to wind down for the day. So, like I don't know, if that seems excessive to you.
But basically, if you think about it, you know, when you work from an office or something, you have the sort of rituals of getting on the bus or getting in your car, and your mind and body is like, all right, we're going home. We're getting ready to relax. When you work from home, like you don't always have
that because you're already home. So I actually make sure I do a ritual, which is usually taking the dogs for a walk or doing something with tim basically putting, like shutting my laptop down and doing something that represents finishing a day. I'm not gonna lie to you like sometimes I have to be on my laptop late at night and I just can't confirm I don't get good sleeps in. But like I said, you know, that stuff happens. But majority of the time, I always aim to finish
around five six pm. Shut the laptop down, don't go back on the emails, go for that beach walk, and do my finishing work activity. The next thing we do is we might like start cooking dinner, because a big thing we do is like well, you know, cut the potatoes up, put them in the oven, or like put the rice and the rice cooker and then so we
start dinner, we don't finish it, we go upstairs. I'm a big person, like, oh, I need like a shower after a long day, Like just like the practice of having a shower, having a warm I love hot shower. Like me and Tim always shower together. It's kind of like a thing where we both get in the shower and we talk about our day and it's like an US activity which I find super comforting. So have a shower.
And then I'm also really big on this kind of like mini self care time after the shower where every single night and morning I'm putting on moisturize on my whole entire body. I'm doing like my nighttime routine, and it's it's literally a new ten minutes and it's not a long amount of time, but it just feels super nourishing and it feels really like, Oh, I've done something for me today. I know. I don't know if that's sad or not. Yeah, And then I get into comfy pjs.
I'm all about like, I don't know, for me, I love comfy pjs and I love kind of pjs where you feel our super I don't want. I'm trying to think of the word like not like posh, but like I kind of like I like to get nice pjs. I don't like to just wear a daggy T shirt and like old tracks. It's like no, I like to, you know, get pj's from Pete Alexander or cute ones from Kmart or something, and they're nice and washed and I get in them and I feel really clean and
I feel really nice. That's a huge thing for me, is like having pjs. And then like me and Tim will just cook dinner. We try and not be on nice phones. Again. It's some time for us to like talk, and I find I really need that period of time with him to like it's almost like debreathing on the day and winding down on the day and being like this happened, and this happened, and yep, and all good.
So we cook dinner and then we jump on the couch and we watch Netflix, and you know, I'll have my hot chocolate and some dessert and he does the same. I might go on my phone for a little bit, let's be honest, but then you know, I'll make sure I've off my phone around eight thirty and then we go to sleep at nine o'clock. And yeah, and also a big thing of that too is I always wear blue light blocking glasses, so I just get mine from backs to blue and I do have a code for them.
It's just Georgie, and I think it gets you free shipping. I'm not sure that though it's a bit old, so hopefully it still works. But blue blocking glasses, you know, I am obsessed with them, and I actually like notice the difference, especially because I'm on my screen all day and then sometimes you know, at night. I think it's really important to be doing that. And then also putting that option on your iPhone where you make it like orange so take away the blue light. I'm sure we
all know how to do this on the iPhone. But yeah, so let's get into the moonmilk and really explain why
all the ingredients and why they're in there. So it already went into magnesium zinc and wait, can I quickly say, guys, like so when I started supplementing with a magnesium and zinc and looking into basically, so many of us are deficient and we're not getting it through our food and the amount we need and that sort of thing I was talking to the NH team, and I was just like, we need to do like a yummy supplement that people
can take at night. It's a huge thing for me, is I have to have something sweet before I go to bed. It's just I don't know, I feel like lots of us are like that, and it's just me and I love chocolate and having a hot chocolate is just super comforting. And then like to really make sure you're getting these vitamins and minderals that were often most of us are deficient because we're just not getting it in our you know, food or so like the soil that the food's made in and all that sort of stuff.
And so since like supplementing with this chocolate moon milk, and I literally I think I would have it probably a good four times a week since doing that. And I'm like, I'm not just saying this like I would. I wouldn't lie to you guys, I just have no reason to. But oh my god, I have just been getting and obviously you know, complimented with my nighttime routine and like making sure I'm maintaining my stress levels and anxiety levels and all that sort of thing, which I
think it all is kind of entwined together. But I have been having the best sleeps where it's nine o'clock, we go to bed and I will just like full asleep, which is just you know, for so long it wasn't happening,
and it was the most frustrating thing. And I'd like, you know, hear Tim snoring and just be so off it, and now like I don't snore, but He's like, yeah, I can literally like hear you breathing and you go onto a deep sleep straight away, and it's just like it's it's honestly such like a small thing, and it just means that, you know, I wake up, I feel refreshed.
I don't know if you guys have noticed, but I've started going to gym early again, which just wasn't happening for a time period because I literally could not wake up and just felt like shit. And so I've been going to gym in the morning. I've just been having energy. I haven't been sick this whole winter, and I just I'm just feeling good. I'm just feeling like me, like Georgie again, and so yeah, I'm so excited for you guys to experience this product, especially if you are having
sleep issues too, like me. Okay, so let's chat about the ingredients. So, first of all, magnesium and zinc also, guys, if you want any information about you know, the macros or the ingredients or anything like that, just go to Naked Harvest Supplements dot com and it has all this information there. But I will just get into a tiny bit. So magnesium like can help with sleep as it plays a huge role in your nervous system helping to like activate and help quiet and calm you. Also, magnesium is
really good for like muscle recovery. I've spoken about that a lot. And then zinc is a really really important mineral or vitamin, I don't know which one it is that basically plays a central in essential role in the neurotransmitter function that helps maintain cognition. So it's very necessary for the metabolism of melatonem, which is the key hormone to healthy sleep. So it just like it helps all
your hormones be produced and your circadian rhythm. And also zinc has like a calming effect on your nervous system and your adrenals, so it's it's thought to help like mental recovery post stress, So good for stress levels. There's a real one of my favorite ingredients is there's organic ash or goonda root in there, which basically is like an ancient herb that has been used for thousands of years, and it's like it's used to reduce anxiety and slaugh.
It's used to reduce anxiety and stress. It helped fights, it helps fight depression, boost fertility and testosterone in men, and can even boost brain functions. So it's in a really amazing ancient herb. There's obviously organic kika in there, which is in antioxidants. It has vitamins and minerals. It helps with brain power and strong muscles and bones and
all that good stuff. And I know kka is like a natural stimulant, but the way that it is in the product does not mean like the stimulant has almost been like taken out of it, if that makes sense, And it's just for the flavoring and that side of things.
So I know people were asking if k is in it doesn't have like caffeine in it and no. So then there's also passion flower, which is another amazing herb and it's basically an ancient flower where a researchers believe it helps treat anxiety in stomia and can help with pain relief. So that's a really cool one. Another really good ingredient in there is Camu Camu I think I'm saying that right. Basically, it's really high in vitamin C, so it helps fight off infections, helps with immunity. It's
an antioxidant that sort of side of things. And then also there is and I'm gonna like totally butcher this, but it's called el tire ti refron tire refon Wow. Anyway, Basically, it's in an essential aminia acid that helps build proteins in certain brain signy chemicals like serotonin, which is really good for good sleep, and it also can be like good for your mood and assist in just getting a
good night's sleep. And then there's some other ingredients in there, but I just like won't go into it too much because I'm probably boring you. But yeah, there's just like really good ingredients in there that all combine create this infusion that basically helps start relaxing you, helps start coming your mind, I help so the muscle recovery and just get you in a really good place to have a good night's sleep. So I've been asked like how you actually take moon milk. So it is two teaspoons and
you can really put it in anything. So you can just use hot water or you can use a milk of choice. Personally, I do half hot water. So my actual process is like I will boil the kettle, I'll put my tea spoons in, and then I'll pour some water in there, maybe like quarter of the cup, and then I will mix the moon milk together just so it's all mixed up. And then i will add a milk of choys and I'm gonna be very transparent, and I just use like dairy milk because that's what I like.
But Cooper, my brother, he is dairy intolerant and so he has soy milk and loves it with that. And then I've also tasted it with oat milk and it's really yummy. And then like something super weird, Tim really likes his with rice milk. So you know, try try it with whatever milk that you generinely have. So it is so yummy, guys. So it is like gluten free, refined, sugar free, natural, vegan, dairy free, all the freeze. You know, that's what we're about it naked harvest, but it is
super creamy. It does have like organic coconut milk powder which makes it really creamy and yummy. And then it's got the kaka and natural flavoring and natural sweetness and all that sort of stuff. And so it is it's around like fifty kylor worries. I don't you know, I don't really do the calories or anything like that, but just for you know, the people who want to know. But yeah, so that's sort of like a little intro
with the product. I'm so excited it's here anyway. I'm just super excited Moon Milk is finally here and I can talk to you guys about it. I don't know if you guys have noticed, but on my stories the last couple of months, because I had a sample cylinder, I've been having like magnesium hot chalk, which is obviously the Moon milk, and I've had so many dms like asking about it and stuff, just because you guys know how good magnesium is for your body and sleep. So yeah,
I'm so excited. And it's just like combining the true things of having a good sleep supplement also having a recovery supplement, plus it being in a form of like a hot chocolate, which is perfect before bed when you're watching Netflix. So yeah, anyway, I'm going to wrap up this episode. It's been I didn't mean it to be this long, but true Georgie fashion. Oh wait before I go, guys, I do have a code for you for Moon milk. The other podcast codes won't work on Moon milk just
