Speaker 2

You know, Monday, I put out a morning coffee talking about the hatred of Mondays. It's a day that I had said, you know, one time, that's kind of how I viewed it. But you know, since I've gotten into a new profession, Monday doesn't mean the same thing. The same is true of Friday. Friday now is deadline day. Also, to another livery night doesn't mean I don't look forward to it doesn't mean I don't enjoy it. It's just different than it was when I was working Monday through Friday,

regular job. And I think perspective matters a lot. I think that's one of the things that we look at. And tonight or last night, as I was getting ready for bed, I was going through different things. You know, a bad habit we probably a lot of us have, is going through our reels on our social media, and I came across one. It's a scene I've seen a

thousand times. It's from the movie Rocky Balboa, and in it, Rocky's having an argument with his son, and through that argument one of the most inspiring quotes in movie his takes place in my personal opinion, and it's one that you've seen people quote in graduation speeches. You've seen folks pull it in various places. If you've seen the movie,

you know which quote I'm talking about. If you haven't, I'll share it with you here because I think it's inspirational and I think it's something that we can all grab on to. Rocky starts off and this is what he says here to his son. Let me tell tell you something you already know. The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It's a very mean and nasty place. And I don't care how tough you are. It will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if

you let it. You, me or nobody is going to hit as hard as life. But it ain't about how hard you hit. It's about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward, how much you can take and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done. Now, if you know what you're worth, then go out and get your worth. But you gotta be willing to take the hits and not pointing fingers saying you ain't where you want to be because of him, her or anybody.

Cowards do that, and that ain't you. You're better than that. I'm always gonna love you no matter what, no matter what happens. You're my son, you're my blood. You're the best thing in my life. But until you start believing in yourself, you ain't gonna have a life. That line, even if you remove the last part talking about his son, and you just go into the first part of it, it ain't how hard you hit, it's how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. It's about how

much you can take and keep moving forward. It's awesome. That is how winning's done. And it's one of those lines that you hear in a movie, and maybe when you hear it the first time, you don't realize how inspirational that could be. You don't realize how that speech can really apply to any one of us. We've all had moments in our lives where we felt less than We've all had moments in our lives where the chips were stacked against us, where life had beaten us down.

You were knocked down. Sometimes you maybe didn't think you were going to get back up, but you know what you did, and you're better for it. I go back to the end of twenty twenty four. Losing the job i'd had for thirteen years was a job I wasn't happy in. I've admitted that numerous times. There was a lot of fear. There was a lot of concern because I didn't know what was next for me. But you know what I did. I got up and I'm better for it because now I'm in a profession that I enjoy.

I'm working with people that I consider family. I'm working for someone that I know actually gives a crap about its employees. It's a better, better world. And that's one of those things that again, if when I'd gotten knocked down and gotten the gut punch of being let go from a job and allowed that to be my defining moment, it would have been over for me. But I didn't. And then when the opportunity came to take a risk, which it is a risk to start a new profession,

especially at my age. But I took that risk and I found something special and I'm actually enjoying it for the longest time. And I've said this before. I didn't believe that a job was something that you were going to enjoy. But I don't believe that anymore. And part of the reason I wanted to share that quote with people and put that out into the world this Friday as you enter into the weekend, is if your feelings, if you feel like life has knocked you down, get up.

You can keep going. We all can. And yeah, it's gonna knock you down harder than anything else, but you're not alone. You've got people around you that will help you. Don't be afraid to take the risk, especially if you're miserable in your current situation. Punch forward, figure out a way to move in the correct direction. I can promise you that once you move forward and past this moment, you'll be better for it. Life's tough, but you can be tougher because, as Rocky said, that is how winning

is done. This has been morning Coffee with the Right Side, and I'm your host, Jack Fairchilds, and we're a part of the Midnight Ride Network. This show has been brought to you by Pearl River Casino and Resort,
