Episode description

This episode is all about the first question I get during a concussion evaluation: "How long does it take to recover from a concussion?"

The answer is very much "it depends." No two concussions are exactly alike. Symptoms can be all over the map and everyone recovers differently. So, there is no singular approach to concussion rehab.

When seeking help for a concussion, many people feel like they aren't being heard or getting any good information, but the right evaluation and treatment can provide more concrete answers (if the provider knows what they are doing).

During this solo episode, my goal is to give you an overview of the research on concussion recovery and how it applies to actual cases. This will give you a glimpse into my process when evaluating and treating concussion patients.

Topics include:

  • What is a concussion?
  • How is a concussion diagnosed?
  • Concussion recovery timelines
  • How concussions affect male vs. female athletes
  • Who takes longer to recover after a concussion, and why?
  • My overall recommendations for concussion care
  • and more...
