You know those mornings where you open your closet, stare into the abyss, and think, I have nothing to wear? That used to be me, all the time. Until I found. Armour. Armour makes getting dressed ridiculously easy. With a clothing rental membership, you can build the perfect wardrobe full of high-quality, unique brands that are totally personalized to your style. All it takes is a quick five-minute style quiz and
and your custom closet is ready to go. The best part, the clothes show up at your door in just two days. And when you're ready for something new, swap them out and refresh your wardrobe again. I started using armoire because honestly, my closet was overflowing with clothes I barely wore. And the guilt was real with Armour.
I get to try trendy designer pieces without adding to the clutter or the waste. Just last week, I rented this gorgeous blazer for a dinner event. I felt so polished and put together. And then instead of shoving it back in the closet, I just sent it back for something new. It's so good.
Anyway, armoire is also perfect if you're like me and sometimes need help figuring out your style. See, the more I rent, the better their suggestions get. So it's like having my own personal stylist. And can we take a moment to appreciate that armoire is women-founded and women-led?
Let's go. They even feature women-owned designers, which just makes me love supporting them even more. Let's go. Come on. We love Armoire. Right now, our listeners can give Armoire a try and get up to 50% off their very first month. That's up to $125 off. Just visit armoire.style slash pineapple. Welcome, everybody, to The Psychologist or In. I am Maggie Lawson. And I'm her podcast partner in crime, Timothy Elmondson. And today we are talking about Season 8, Episode 5, Cog Blocked. One of my favorite titles. Written by Carlos Jaycott. Supremely directed by Brad Turner. I should say supremely written by and acted by Dulé Hill. I mean, everyone, everyone. But Dulé is so funny in this episode. Anyway, we have a lot of fun talking about it.
reminiscing about all the feelings we had as the show was starting to come to an end. So please enjoy this episode of The Psychologist You're In. Oh, hang on. You caught me in. You caught me in. You look great. You look great, Tim. You look great. You got a new haircut. Hi, Tim. I got all my hairs cut. We did a little color test on the beard. We're going a little darker on the beard.
I was so shocked last time we did the podcast with this direct light coming from my window here, just how white everything looked. So we're doing a little beard dye test. I think it looks great, but you know how I feel about the gray and the white. I love it.
so thank you so um the mustache is more the color it's going to be but um the beard itself is not so uh amy like was fine tuning what we're doing space we're gonna anyway it's gonna be a whole thing it's gonna be awesome you look great and i'm gonna look 10 years younger you look great
Oh, thanks. I actually don't look great. My hair on this project, I'm wearing a wig. And so you can't see, but I actually got these like bangs cut the other day. We can totally leave this in, which I love. They're like little curtain bangs. Thanks.
curtain bangs and now my hair is in a wig uh for uh for this entire project you showed me a picture you sent me a picture of and i love the color it's very it's it's a really fun change and i'm so excited like next time we do soon in the pockets we have to talk about what this cool project is
I can't talk about it. Not yet, but hopefully soon you can. Hopefully soon. Hopefully soon. It's really fun. I'm very excited for you. Psychos are going to be, they're going to lose their minds with excitement of getting to see you do something so different. it's so different it's very different um i'm excited about it i mean i'm having it's i'm excited about it so um but man what a what a
Like I talked a little bit about it on me time, just because I so much is happening right now. And I, I, it's such a weird thing to like, Oh, is this the most recent life is lifing episode? Yes. I'm certainly going to. Every, yeah, everything, everywhere, all at once. That's just sort of what I keep saying because I truly feel right now, life-wise is all of it. It's like everything and all at once.
um so uh because you know i'm so happy to be working i'm so happy to be on this project i'm so happy about sitecon i'm so happy about the pod i'm happy to see you you just beat me to that i was just about to say i'm so happy to get to see you right now because I haven't seen it in a long time. But it, same. And then on the same token,
There's just a lot happening on the life side that is on the other end of the spectrum. And it just makes me like, wow, life is wild. You shoved it right in the middle of it sometimes, doesn't it? Just. And I'm sure you know this as much as more than anyone. It just all happens at one time. So and that's part of being human. And I love all the feelings, but I'm also a little bit like, holy shit.
You are lifing right now. You are not joking around. We are lifing right now. Like, this is insane. But it's good. There's times when the rug gets ripped out from under you, but then... Not only that, but the floor then disappears as well. Yeah, exactly. You're like, and at the same time, you know, this is like, it's, it's like.
what it means to be human. So we're like just in the human experience of it all. And so I'm just trying to embrace like that part of it, which just like, okay, okay, we're gonna just feel it all. Let's just feel it all. okay i'm good i know you just um gave a big disclaimer about what's going on but i still say you look amazing and your skin's got a little
Thanks. Oh, well, it's also like I got I sat in the sun for a little bit today. I needed some sun because it like it's like 80 and gorgeous in L.A. right now. And it is just just what the doctor ordered. You look great, Tim. You look fantastic. You look better than me. You look fantastic. This vibe. My ears didn't quite get that. You just want me to say it again. You look fantastic. You know me so well. Of course, why don't you say it again? Thanks.
You're vibing. It's like the glasses with the sort of brownish. Are those like a tortoise shell? These are my olive ones. Love them. Olive. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Good. That's good. Good shit, Tim. You're bringing the good shit today. And I needed it.
so appreciate you you need it i feel like your life is life so i need i try to bring a little extra sparkle for you and and i can feel it and i like it and i feel infused um it's good it's very good this is what we do for each other this is um this is and thank you um hey dear friend hey are you ready to help me podcast the out of this fun episode of the psychologist i have been waiting
Oh, sorry. I have been waiting to help you podcast the shit out of it because I've missed it and I need it and I need some psych energy and Tim energy and... This is a nice Sunday. It's a Sunday, psychos. It's a nice Sunday vibe today. So I'm really, really grateful. Really grateful. Grateful for you. Grateful for this podcast. Grateful for you, psychos. Grateful for us. Yeah, yeah. This is a...
This is a good thing. Also, I'm just going to throw this out there just because we have had some changeover, which I know you psychos know. We have a great team with us, Mara and Dan. I think, so Dan is running our, Daniel's running our, like the social clips that you guys keep sending messages about, about how much you love them. Like Dan is killing it. He is so good.
You haven't met Dan yet. I haven't met Dan yet. I'm hearing it here first. And I've only talked to him, but he's just like he he's a kind of a master of like. I don't know, like this sort of content, but also getting the energy and like the whole vibe. And so Dan is great. And Mara, who is sort of our point now on the team. Mara's been killing it for a while. Mara's been killing it for a while.
So psychos, that's who. So social wise, we've had on the social on Instagram, we have had a little less interaction just because there's been a little bit of.
like i said with the changeover and everything else so like please know though we uh energy is back we are on it we are going to be bringing back some really fun um absolutely we have to bring back fan art fridays we got some really good suggestions him so um i haven't been looking at the socials for a while because um cloud 10 has had uh the socials and and then we were like sort of figuring out who was doing social so we're all on it now um but as i went back and i
did go through some of the messages psychos and um mara is going to be checking in as well and uh heard some of your suggestions for the podcast which i definitely definitely want to bring back fan art fridays i don't know why it went away um and then also Patreon and fan episodes. And we're just, just so you know, we like- There's lots of fun stuff cooking. Yeah, we're on it. We're on it. We're on it. Side note.
add dan to our um our site pod uh text that would you i will i will he's a good moment he's so good He's so good at this, at the videos. And Mara is, has been killing it, yeah, for a while. I think some of you all may have met her at the live show, which was like our first sort of big event. And that's our team. You could do another live show.
chill in uh on the road well i mean we are in obviously in um have we known chicago yet huh yeah we've announced chicago on the social have we at least i have on my personal socials Oh, I have, I have, I have. Yeah, so Chicago's out there, C2E2. So you all know that Maggie and I are doing our very first, the very first live show of the PsychPod Tour 25. yeah is it c2e2 in chicago illinois uh we're thrilled thrilled um
April 11th, I'm thinking, off the top of my head. It's April 11th. So C2E2, I believe, is the 11th. Then we go into PsycheCon 12th, 13th. Yep. That's going to be a big Psyche weekend. We're going to need to take our vitamins. Yeah, we are going to have to have a lot of hydration around. We are pumped. And okay. You want to jump in? Yeah, let's talk about Cog Blocks. Let's talk about Cog Blocks. First off.
One of the best titles. The titles of Psych episodes deserve some kind of recognition in a greater way, I feel like. It's funny we had a podcast where we could do that. Oh, great idea. Um, I, okay. So Carlos, um, Jaycott wrote this episode to me. Carlos is so funny. I think he is so unbelievably dry, like smart comedy. He's so good. He might as well be British. He's so dry.
exactly if i wouldn't like watch this episode not knowing who wrote it i would have been like oh carlos wrote this episode speaking of funny writers yeah i had a fun uh this is what my little announcement i can tell you i was texting with uh our dear pal kel cahoon this morning love cal we got to get him on he i said we definitely want to have you on he was very excited to hear that and he would love to come on soon and he sends his love to you
Love Cal. Give me a little more to you. Love it. Yeah. Hi, Cal. Aw, that's really sweet. Okay. So it's Carlos and our pal Brad Turner. Yeah. Lots of action this one, which means we need either Mel Damsky or Brad Turner if we're doing action. It was, and I got to say, this is horrible. I don't think I'd ever seen this episode.
I don't remember seeing it either. You didn't though. I literally have no connection. I'm not in the episode and I never saw it. So I don't even think I read the script. I think by, as a form of quiet protest. i refuse to watch it because you weren't in it okay i gotta say that is um that just blows not yeah it truly does Although one thing that is exciting because we usually do this on StreamYard now we're on Zoom and I come back I'm back to being able to
put you full screen for speakers view. So I get to see, I get to see a better shot of you than today than in stream yards. Oh, what is speaker? Should I be doing speaker view for this? Hold on. Let me see speaker view. Hi. Oh yeah, I should, because I bet this is easier to cut. No, I don't think it is. Hold on, guys. We are. We're doing this. on our own today because it's a Sunday and we're giving Mara the day off. And I apologize in advance for if there's any formatting or different.
It's different in some way. I apologize. But I think it's going to be great. I think it's going to be great. I think it is great. It is great. Because you've already agreed to probably podcast the shit out of it. It's true. so a few things first off i thought this episode um uh it it definitely had um uh what's it called like uh office space vibes right definitely
Yeah, which had, you know, has come back around to be one of my favorite episodes of this show ever. So I ended up loving, I loved this episode. I thought it was so good and I didn't miss Mia in it at all. You are wrong. It's true though. I do have to call out a couple of Lassie moments, though, that were fantastic. One that I'm sure was all you. Well, how can they not? I mean, there's no last unless there's last yet. So.
That's not true. Lassie. There's Lassie in this. I also have to call out that Alex Ponovic, who is the bartender at the Russian bar. Yes. Was in an episode like. Season one or two? Season one. I knew I know who's first. I know I knew who's first. I gotta look it up now. We brought him back. We brought him back in a different character. This is almost exactly 11 years ago. Air date, February 5th, 2014. Love Red. Love Callie Hawk in this.
Okay, did you get the pineapple fighting? We need to call out how, if we're talking about the fact that O'Hare is not there, we need to call out the little, we're not quite there yet, but as we go through this analysis, Sean. conveniently telling, I think it's Gus, how Juliet is in Florida visiting her aunt or someone she's related to. You're someone she's related to. And then I call at one point, but you never hear my voice on the other side. I know.
Which all just made me miss you all the more. I'm just really not there. Oh, it's so sad. There's not even any Betsy Brannigan. No. Do you mean? Oh, yeah. Yeah. For the record, it made me very sad to watch an episode and have you not be in it. It's sad for me, too. And I got to say, I think like kicking it like when we had the thing with cloudy chance of improvement the other day, I genuinely was feeling this like.
Wow. That was a heavy time. Like it was just a heavy time. Cloudy chance of improvement when we were talking about how emotional it started to get in life. you know that final season and then we got to have almost like a reunion with cloud with improvement uh with everybody coming up to do that episode it kicked off
the sadness, even though, you know, we knew Psych would have to come to an end at some point. There was something about this season that just every single episode was like one closer to. us, you know, I mean, if we're talking sadness, it really starts with 1967 Psych Odyssey. Oh, no question. Then that sadness just keeps going through a little bit, not to that level because it wasn't written as much.
deep suckers in episodes but every episode through season that you're not in there's just a little soup song of that sadness yeah it's uh i i agree i feel i hate it Like I hate, I was happy that like work was showing up and I could do something, but I also like doing something else. But I also like, it just was really hard. It was a really hard transitional time for.
the show and for life and for it's just like everything started to change you know it's like for you but what about me i do work without my bestie And that's what I mean. You know, it's like everything was different. Like your experience of work was different, you know, and there were new people. The energy was different. And yet it's still psych and it's still.
so good um just like watching this episode like i don't miss me i didn't think like oh i i can feel juliette's absence or even just a female presence at like other than i i will callie is amazing by the way um but But like, I just it's such a good episode and such a creative episode. It's so weird. But oh, my God, Gus's closet. Forget it. Hold on. All right. Let's talk about something we all deal with. B.O. Yep.
I said it, because let's be real, it happens. Whether you're running around all day, hitting the gym, or just existing as a human, body odor is a thing. It's real. And for the longest time, I thought deodorant was just for, you know. You know, your bits. Your bits. But then I found Lumi. Lumi. And I completely changed the game. Lumi is a whole body deodorant, meaning it works everywhere. Underarms, obviously, but also...
Basically anywhere you want to stay fresh. It's clinically proven to block odor all day and control it for up to 72 hours. And it... It really does. I will be honest. They've got a solid stick, a sweat control formula, even an aluminum.
Aluminum free spray for those hard to reach places. And the scent's so good. I love the clean tangerine. I also love the unscented, but the scents are really nice. They have many fresh kind of bright options. If you haven't tried Lumi yet, Lumi's starter pack is...

So this is season, so this is episode five. Mm-hmm. Season eight, the last season. Boo. Boo. Okay, very, very opening. I need to shout out. So the song in, well, first of all, no, Gus's morning routine. There's a bit of a shocker here. There's no, the fire truck pajamas are suddenly gone. He's now in his truck pajamas. and only gus would wear argyle socks to sleep that's actually true we follow his morning routine and to the um an incredible remix of my seattle boy macklemore which is awesome
And I loved how they bleeped out the not arable word. Yeah. This is blanking awesome. And then the Latrec who's like. You're here 10 minutes early, which means you're however late. The boss, it was great. The whole him getting to work and him being swamped right away. But the Macklemore really took me back because I did, I can't remember exactly when, but I went through a very, very, very heavy Macklemore period. Yeah. I think it was right about this time because I was...
I was going back and forth to LA a lot because it was ending. It makes my heart just tug over every time you say it. I don't remember. I remember driving a lot of carpool. playing, I went through like this deep dive where I went through like all of Macklemore's work. And I did know him and know of him when I was in Seattle because I think he was quite working as much when I was still there. But I remember playing his albums.
for the girls in the car on the way back and forth to school because that's my job as a dad is to influence their musical days. That's awesome. So it just took me back hearing this hearing. Yeah. Thrift Shopping. I can't remember the exact title of that song. Anyway, yes. It was fine. I know the song. Yeah. I put pop and tags, but it's not. It's Thrift Shopping, I believe.
I don't know the name of it, but I've definitely heard the song and I was like, oh, look at us and the song at the end, too. I was like, we had good music in this episode, really good music in this episode. So he starts his work day. He's super stressed out. He's getting swamped with all the stuff. And we check in with Sean, who's at the psych office without Gus in a habit.
Lasseter's without O'Hara and Sean's without Gus. We're all partner-less in this one. It was very bizarre. Oh, yeah, that's actually true. And Sean's without Juliet. Yeah, and without Juliet, which is why he's in a hammock eating food. And I didn't realize, like, I kind of loved... Okay. In a weird way, I almost wish we had had a little bit more of this, like the reality check of Sean's financial situation that we go into in the psych office when he's like talking.
Did you, like, I didn't know this. He's like, you know, he calls himself a leech or whatever, like a mooch. And he's like, Juliet's paying the rent. I have in my notes, Juliet pays all the bills. Hmm. And I was like, oh, you're like, oh. Maggie's never been in relationships like that before. I was going to say it on air, but yes. Yes. The psychos can handle it. The psychos can handle it. Not Jane, just so you all know. But yeah.
Um, anyway, uh, yeah. So, but I also, I was like, how interesting. Cause I, I feel like on psych, we get the insight into like personalities. Yes, sir. There's an amazing meta moment I have to call out.
Yeah. So as Henry's there berating Sean for being... A leech. A leech and a less than adulting person. Obviously the plot line is about how... his motorcycle insurance has been coming to henry and sean says i paid my insurance when i bought that motorcycle eight years ago which of course is when the beginning of the show which i just i love those meta moments on this that we do on this show me too
Yeah, they got great. We had more of them later in these seasons. And I, yeah, I just loved learning this about Sean.
Because I feel like sometimes we don't go into those personal details, maybe with Gus more, but like, what? For me, I was like, wait, Juliet is... paying your rent yeah that seems very uh un juliette like it does for too long yeah and i'm like damn it this is what i get for not being there because i probably would have read this in the script if i were in it and been like i don't think so i don't think so
I don't think Juliet would be like- Juliet would not be, she wouldn't be playing that game. I mean, here's the deal. I think Juliet would be like, as long as you're working your ass off and- You know, giving and loving and generous and supportive. You're passionate. Like he's not lazy, right? He's just like, you know, he has to wait for the work to come. You know, I think because he is so good at and passionate about what he does, it makes up for the fact that like.
like he doesn't make a lot of money. I think if you were lazy, anyway, I don't know. that one was a that one was an interesting one for me where i was like that feels like i love the um i was gonna say very alive Sorry. All right. Anyway. So, okay. So because of all of this, so the, the, the thing he has with Henry, Sean is like, I'm going to.
take on a case because he needs to like prove himself but so he calls lassiter hello so lassiter is now out of his blues thank god he's back in his um awesome suits so he's in his he's in sapphire bottle blue everybody drink up first drink of of of this episode first there's a very fun moment where he's um So he's tying his tie, he's adjusting his tie knot in the reflection of a don't drink and drive. I saw that, yeah. Don't be a dick. There's a very funny framing by Marco Ciccone.
So just under Laster's face, it just says, be a dick. Yeah. Laster says, don't be a dick. Don't drink and drive. Yeah. So I just, that was a little funny, I thought, a little. I caught it too. I was like, hello. My face with the word dick under it.
yeah i i was like okay marco but i want to say because of this phone call uh this is the part that i was like this was so tim is that right at the end of the phone call you go with your gun yeah i wrecked around you wrecked around i was like that's so freaking tim i know it because he's on his way out well it's i've gotten a lot of gunplay this season so yeah that's true um okay so why is he putting one in the chamber that that's pretty um
Well, it's because it's Lassiter. It's Lassiter. He's on a mission. He's going to become the chief of police. Oh, so he's in the garage now, right? No. Okay. I'm going to start. So Gus has, okay. So there's the victim of the, this case is now we're there. Gus is.
has like a very weird connection um so gus reluctantly leaves work to join sean on this case right because like sean finally sean gets this case and he goes and he begs him and he's like i'll give you a half hour are we over the crime scene now not yet okay
But in the- We're at work getting Gus, convincing Gus to come to the crime scene. Now we're coming to the crime scene. So now we get to the crime scene and we find- But prior to that, in the garage, when Sean goes in the garage after the conversation with Henry- Oh, right. He takes the cover off his motorcycle. The motorcycle we have not seen since season one, the OG cloudy chance of murder. And there are 14 parking tickets on it.
Here's a little fun fact, a little insider insight about the motorcycle, which I think you probably don't even know. So I'm saying you might want to pull the car over. Oh, it's that big? i mean it's big to me i don't know okay okay but um yeah i don't think you know this max um in the episode we did not discuss because certainly sunshine is not in it when uh it's first revealed that um the character of sean
rides a motorcycle. It was written as like a V-rod. Like this really kind of, sorry if you're going on one, it's kind of douchey. Oh, okay. V-bag motorcycle. Oh, okay. I remember pitching to Steve, it was like, All due respect, no, that's absolutely wrong. This guy needs to be like on a vintage bike. It needs to be like a vintage BMW or a vintage Norton. Or Triumph. And sure enough, he's Sean Riser Norton.
Oh, cool. So Steve may... I didn't know anything about that. ...may disagree with this, but I definitely did pitch that he would write a vintage Norton or Trimuth. yeah so i think steve took that to heart so thank you steve for taking my suggestion as he does because they just couldn't find a v-rod so they just went with a vintage norton
Norton's are cool. I mean, I know the name. I don't know a ton about motorcycles, but that is cool. Let's just say this. If I rode a motorcycle, I'd either ride a Norton or an Old Triumph. Love it. And you're the coolest. Thanks, partner. That must be a cool motorcycle. Yeah. Okay, Gus. So Gus has it. So now we're at the crime scene. They find John Russell who looks just like Gus. Any notices? Liz Hanson.
than Dulé Hill. Less handsome than Dulé Hill. But how are they going to possibly find a man as handsome as Dulé Hill if it's not Dulé Hill? But they tried really hard. And because of this, He believes that he did not kill himself because of this connection to it. So they start to dig deeper into this guy's life. And they're determined to prove that it was, in fact, murder.
love it i love it here's a fun there was a fun clue flashback so um as gus trying to desperately trying to piece together how
It can't be a suicide. It's got to be a murder. He sees on the refrigerator in the kitchen a calendar that says, renaissance fair is coming up on saturday just like gus had in his apartment yeah yeah but here's the fun flashback it's a flashback to season one i dare say it's um nine lives When we think someone was also committed suicide and the boys again were in the refrigerator in the kitchen the clues in the kitchen Sean's rifling through the refrigerator
and he finds in his ziploc bag steaks marinating so he said he can't be suicide why would a guy who's marinating steaks to eat later commit suicide just like why would someone who's planning on going to ren fair in a couple of days Take their own lives. That's a real good memory there, Tim. Even with the thing that happened that was in all the papers. Look at you. What thing?
No, what thing? I know. No, my favorite thing was the finding the tap shoes in the closet. And then we see... the poster of pluto with a question mark yes it just says pluto question mark on the thing i was like okay okay um it makes me sad because all these things that we're like bringing back like of in the last moments of the show um anyway so um speaking of little side note now i digressing um speaking of nine lives i remember very specifically
working with you in that scene on the crime scene in that standing out in front of that amazing beautiful old apartment building just from sunset beach and it was sunset was hitting and you and i just stand up front going holy effing crap this is where we work now i know i remember and eight years later we were still um basically saying that Yeah, I remember that. I remember that very well. So Gus is also very upset at this point that his coworkers kind of don't feel anything about this death.
Weird. They break into John's office. Gus wipes a janitor key's car. They sneak into the office at night. He sneaks in the office. Which is very Sean-like. That's a very Sean-like move. I think even Sean even calls him out and says, you don't do that. I know. I know. The influence that Gus has now had on our boy, Sean. Yeah.
Also, he's so connected to this one personally because he's like, whoa, this is too close. They discover an email from a woman named Angela Bennett arranging to meet John after his death. Angela has a secret identity. So at the Buena Vista Lounge, they go to Gus pretends to be John, but Angela, a stunning... blind woman immediately knows he's lying and flees. Later, she reveals herself as Emmanuel, a private investigator. Which I must call out nowadays.
I would have insisted we actually hire a non-sighted actor or actress for this. Right. Right. That is balderdash to hire able-bodied, I mean, as we say in the disabled world. able-bodied um performers to play um people with disabilities yeah so ali did a great job but she was fantastic this episode okay i am so then we go to see then we go see woody who It's so funny. God, he's so... The wood, man. He discovers that John was force-fed. Is it second all? Seek and all.
second off you know what i've heard it both ways i've heard it by the way a drug dangerous for his heart condition proving gus was right john was in fact murdered Yes. Kirk gets better in every episode. He gets weirder and better in every episode. He's always fantastic, but the fact that he just gets more and more uncomfortably awkward and strange is just... And he's just so good at it. Once I think Kurt was given some looser reins. Yeah. Yeah. Like his freak came out. Yeah.
We kind of just got to a point on Psych where it was like, how far can we go with all of this? He's the best. So, okay. So there's a stamp on John's hand. That leads all of them to go to the Shady Russian nightclub where we see Alex Ponovic, who was our... We have to call it the name of that club. This is one of my favorite things ever.
Oh, my God. I have written down a line. What would you do if that were Jesus's yogurt? Yeah. I'm sorry. I have to go back to that. I rarely do. And I should do that more often as I was watching the episode. I'm like, what would you do if that were Jesus's yogurt? Okay, sorry. I digress, but I have to call out that line. It made me laugh.
Again, I have not seen the episode. So anyway, Woody Hilarious. Okay. Oh, there's a big first in this. Maybe. Actually, I probably have it wrong. Well, should they pull over? in the scene well i don't know do i have it wrong is this the first time that gus says and this is my partner and gives him the craziest name yes it is because that's in my notes as well okay
We are so simpatico. Yeah, yeah. Wait, but we have to talk about the name of the club first. The Russian club. How timely. It's Putin on the Ritz. Which this club was, I know this club is on Grenville and I'm pretty darn positive. We all had drinks there at some point. I mean, I pretty much remember, I'm pretty positive I remember a night with Yumi, Todd and Allison. Oh, I remember that night.
I remember it well. Okay, so it wasn't just me. No. But, okay, now pull over, everybody. Give them the spiel, Tim. So pull the car over. Put the weight back down on the rack. Or tell your spotter you're going to need help. Put the treadmill down to a nice mellow walking speed. Because Maggie's correct. We have a series first. I think. I have an asterisk as well. I also think asterisk.
I don't think it's right, but I feel like the psychos are going to be like, are you insane? It was in this episode and this episode and this episode. So I could be so wrong. Not that you psychos talk like that, but you know the show better than we do. So I was definitely leaning. I mean, it's in my notes as well. So I was. Yeah.
and do you did you write down the name do you know the name i can't i didn't write the name down oh i've got it i was so um see you're doing your job my job better laika the space doll right which um interesting fun fact i do so of course the first being in space was a dog sent up by the soviets i wanted i didn't face dog i said yes yeah had i been a more professional um
co-host i would have actually done the research and got that dog's name like a space dog yeah i'll bet that was the soviet dogs it had to have been should we look this up really quick All right. No, I'll leave my notes. But I wrote doll. I thought he said Lego the space doll. Dog. Right. That's what I was thinking. It was a Russian type name. Start with an L. And then the space dog. Hilarious.
so i would bet because we're talking about being in a russian bar nightclub that they went deep dive back to the soviet era i love it and you're here class that is there Lassiter's at the nightclub too. They all go. And they witness the owner throw someone over a balcony. Cool. And Lassiter informs him that Vlad had an alibi. So they all go, they have to go back now to the apartment. And so hidden in John's bowling bag, they find a death certificate for Pony Wayne White.
Tracking the address on it, they find a wall of surveillance photos, including pictures of themselves. Emmanuel then joins the case. She explains that John was investigating fraudulent life insurance payouts before he died. Oh, yeah. So they both they're both right. We acknowledge that they're private investigators. OK. Shortly after, Woody confirms John's death was staged, strengthening the theory of.
Murder. Yeah, Woody's like, wait a second. I have here a cause of death. Anyway, so they go back. So now they're tracing the fraud stuff. Four shots of the chesty area. chesty area yes bullet holes in the chest area yes so they learned that pony's insurance was falsely claimed months before he actually died john's boss herb grouse had been running an insurance fraud scheme paying death benefits for the living
He was a bad, bad man. He's a bad man. And then we have a car chase. A very cool car chase. So while escaping with the evidence, Gus is pursued by a gunman. His car is... Can we talk about this for a second? Total in the process. But Elassiter arrives just in time to take down the shooter. Sean realizes the hitman was a hired trigger man. But can we all just, can we have an RIP moment for the blueberry?
It was peeled like a grape. This shot, I mean, again, Brad Turner, I don't know how they did this. It was cool. It was really... Really cool. And can I tell you how sad I am? If I had been in Vancouver, I would have been like, I need to be there. The day that we take out the blueberry, I have to be there. And slice it in two. Bye-bye, blueberry. Bye. It was really sad and really cool. Sorry. It's got twin brothers. It's okay. Or twin sisters. So then.
Now that, okay, so now we, at John's funeral, Gus publicly lays out Grouse's crimes, the loan sharking, fraudulent payouts, and John's murder to cover it all up, and Lasseter arrests Grouse on the spot. Because he's a hero. after yes but after um is it is it cali yeah after cali emmanuel yeah yeah yeah emmanuel takes him out so again it's a
Which had O'Hara been there, Juliette would have been the one taking him out. But Laster needs a little help from the gals. He does. And I loved her. I was like, oh, she's fantastic. She would have been great.
uh also just like a great person that um when i wasn't there um anyway so now we have oh and this is the best so now now the guy's been taken out gus quits his job and this this sequence of him quitting his job is so it's so fully ball the slow motion walk in i literally just wrote slow-mo in my notes because i was like this is so good this is like that, that
this goes back to this reminded me of like real the office-based movie too but like the slow-mo of him coming in and did you notice when he puts his bag on the desk one perfect pill yes it was an amazing shot It was... So good. I feel like it was even in slow motion, the pill bottle going up and catching it. It was. And I feel like these are the kinds of things that like Andy's talked about. Like we would just get so lucky. Steve has talked about it. Like we would get so lucky with.
some of these moments on our show because we were on such a fast and furious schedule, like taking the time to set these things up. Like these are like feature level shots that we were doing. And because we're in season eight and we just got to the point where we were like.
You know, we all just worked together so well. It was this unspoken, like... understanding and you we could do like that and we could pull it off like it's it's just incredible and also gus just looks so cool he's he's full denzel walking in Full Denzel. At one point, I can't remember which scene it is where Sean's, they make a Denzel reference. I think it's a little like... They did. Yeah, yeah. It's a little less. We need a little more science. It's a little less training day.
yeah yes exactly it's so good um and that is our and that is our cog blocked episode but we have some um some good fan questions shall we let's dig in um okay so Uh, oh no. So since we're near the end, who has been your favorite Gus love interest? Pre-Selenae Obvi. I've got my answer, but, um. Who? Mira.
And there's something about Kerry Washington. There's something about Mira. You are so right. There is nobody better. If there is someone that would have been fun to see more of, it would have been Mara. Mara. Mara. Mara. God, Maggie. Mara is our producer. This is where my head's at, psychos. This is where we are. You've been working all week. And also...
It's Sunday, for goodness sakes. And it's Sunday, yeah. This is my partner, ladies and gentlemen. She's been working, she's been shooting a film all week long and still shows up on a Sunday morning. to record the shit out of this episode for you. Oh, yes, of course I do. I wouldn't think of doing anything else. Okay. Maggie Lawson, ladies and gentlemen. If my other hand worked, I'd give you a good slow clap right now. Oh.
Oh, my heart. Oh, I love it. Thank you, Tim. All right, Tim, which three personality traits would someone have to share with you to think you're the same person? One of mine would be probably like they'd have to love their dog more than they love most people. Duh. They'd have to eat rice cakes and peanut butter like way too much.
um they have to have the exact same starbucks order and the exact same starbucks order yeah yeah i'm trying to think of you tim and i was thinking we should try and do this for each other oh that would be funny um Um, yes, yours would be, uh, their, like, I want to give you like a very kind of dapper, like your Manhattan, like your drink. Um, there would have to be like your drink, um, at the end of the day.
but like done properly, like a proper gentleman, Mad Men style. Yeah. It would be an old fashioned and they would complain that it's always too sweet. And complain that it's always too sweet. There we go. There we go. There's the, there's the. the character um you would what else tim it would you'd have a similar dog thing i think as i do absolutely yeah they'd have they'd have to be a massive dog person
And same with the Starbucks order. Are we the same person? That's why we're such good friends, Maggie. Are we? Come on, the way we both love horses. Seriously, we just did an episode about someone being so similar. Travel? I love it. This is fun. We could do an entire episode of like how we are somewhere. So let's see. They're asking if we have any behind the scenes scoop on the blueberry chase, but I don't think we do because we weren't there. I don't.
i would have been there i'm sure they took it apart on another location because i don't there's no other way to get that shot yeah although there was way brad turner could figure out how to do it but i would have loved to have been there while they were Sorry, buddy. Cover your skits slicing the blueberry in half. Oh! Sorry, Maggie. It's so violent.
um okay did carlos jaycott suggest this script or was it part of the serious story arc did he ever work in an office he must have because like between his the the episodes he's been in the episodes he's written in the movie he's working at the place like there's a very there's a theme is is nine lives the uh the suicide the suicide hotline where he's where he's the boss this is oh yeah oh my god oh my god he's yes right yes that is and of course cloudy chance of improvement yeah
another office setting he or i mean we know he's just that good of an actor if we only liked carlos you know if we only liked him and wanted him to be in the show my god He's so fun. What would you do if you met somebody that looked exactly like you? The way they look, the way they live, et cetera. I don't know about the way they live. I have met Alicia Silverstone, and that was weird.
Because her husband at the time, this was years ago, met me as they came to our front door to have game night. And when I opened the door, he went, OK, this is weird. I don't know that story. Yeah. She was married to Chris. When she was married to Chris, they came over for game night. And when I opened the door to my house, they were like, Chris literally went, okay.
okay yeah so um so I have had that I don't think we're like the same as in in life but I definitely that is a it's a weird thing and then you're like wait like There are lots of people who look a lot alike in our world, I feel like, especially in our business. So it's kind of like when I was at the smokehouse and I saw George Clooney also getting an old fashioned and complaining about how sweet it was.
wait i thought that was you that was george i was talking to george that old time yes yeah so basically what we're saying is we have met those people you all and we handled it very well Who's the best bartender from the cast? This is a tough one. I'd go one of us. It's definitely one of us. Yeah, I think we're both pretty magical with how we make our drinks.
Because we take it seriously. Because it's our art form. Considering my Christmas Eve party this year, how it was... i was so excited about the old fashion i made and said this is actually the greatest confession i ever i ever made and you taste and you're like yes this is pretty damn good yeah and we'd had several conversations prior to it was making sure that i had
your favorite vodka on hand. Yes, that's right. Oh, that's right. And it was very specific about if you're liking Twister olives these days. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I'm twisty. I'm getting twisty these days.
i've also leaning out much more towards the twist uh which is alessandro's um influence because he doesn't do he did it's not like dirty he he will smack you in the face alessandro palazzi of course oh yeah smack in the face if you ask for a dirty martini so he always he only goes uh amalfi lemon twist it's gotta be an amalfi lemon this is how deep dive we are so um what'd you say I'm going to say it's definitely between you and I. Hang on. Oh, definitely. It's definitely. Yes, I...
Love both of our talents when it comes to making drinks. Sorry about that. One more reason we're the same person. I know, like, it's getting weird. It's actually getting weird. Okay. Oh, and this is our last question. Was there one, was there just one blueberry throughout the show? I'm going to say yes.
I would think so. I'm going to actually say, I think there were multiple blueberries because the way we used that blueberry. Yes. For example, in last night, Gus, just as one of the kickers, they would have had to, I think, have multiple ones.
in case something went a little too far yeah i think so but like i feel like even like the reason i think i say that is because i feel like mine was um also uh the same car like throughout the series does it make sense i don't think we had multiple cranberries um yeah that's why i just assumed we had one blueberry but uh but maybe i'm wrong
Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe we had multiples because we need to have demultiples. Something just happened on my phone that was very weird. Okay, I think we did a good job. I'm considering I just got... uh bombarded with information on my phone um and life-lifing and you've been just got off uh an intense work week of filming but we're so much i can't wait to get to tell everybody about
that we got to do this though today here's the problem though every day this week is going to suck because i started my sunday off with you oh tim that's so sweet well saying We'll do another one. We'll probably do a, we're going to, Tim's going to be on unconditional too, which we'll talk about coming up soon. So yay. A lot of Tim and a lot of taggy time, a lot of Tim and Maggie time.
I love it. Oh, in fact, I text you about. Yes, I just realized that. Well, we'll discuss schedules. Psychos. I'm going to stop recording. OK, thank you. Wait, we got to say bye. Bye, Tim.
