Hi. Welcome back to the ProSource Podcast. Today we are sitting down with Leah Richmond. She is a Merchandiser here at ProSource Wholesale. And today we're going to be talking all about Innovia. But before we dive into the products, can you please just share a little bit about, your history with ProSource? How did you start working at ProSource? How long you've been here? Tell me everything.
Oh. Everything okay? Most recently, I've been with ProSource for three years. I say most recently because I've identified as what I call a retread. I was with ProSource. I left to spend time with my family, and luckily there was a position available when I was ready to start working outside the home. And I came back nice. So all is said and done. I think I've been with ProSource probably 7 or 8 years, something like that. Very cool. And so in your day to day job, what kind of responsibilities
what are you doing day to day? Day to day? I manage the execution of product and merchandizing projects. So projects. Right. So sample updates, new product launches, getting fixtures and whatnot to new showrooms. My number one thing though, I would say is, I am a great starting point for any product and merchandizing questions that you may have. I like to tell people I may not have the answers at my fingertips, but I know who does have the answers, so I'll get you going in the right direction.
Yes, that is very true. I've seen that happen in real time. If I have any questions, I usually go to you. Thank you. That's why you're here today. We're talking all about Anovia. For those unfamiliar with what Anovia carpet is, how does it set itself apart from other carpet brands? Anovia is made from a fiber called in a tax that is a natural based fiber, and it's actually a patented fiber. Okay, cool.
So, if someone's looking to replace their carpet, why would you recommend using Innovia than the other competitors? So there is, well, that natural based fiber in a tax. What you're going to get with that is stain resistance, okay. It's pet friendly and it's easy to clean. And actually it comes with lifetime warranties for stain soil and what we call pet proof. So with the pet proof coverage, you're going to get lifetime coverage for pet accidents associated with potty training.
Or maybe if your pet has a tender tummy and makes a mess on your carpet. Yeah, lifetime coverage for that. Okay, cool. Or if they're old pets, it's always the hardest in the beginning and the end. Having a pet. You are absolutely right. And if they have like a busy home, I mean, there's so many reasons to invest in a high, highly durable carpet. Absolutely. Even if you don't have pets or children. So when it comes to Anovia, there is the original Innovia carpet.
But then there's also I've seen the Anovia touch carpet. What's the difference between the two? Innovia Touch has all those fantastic performance properties that we talked about that Innovia has, but it has this silky smooth feel.
Actually, I mentioned, working inside the home for that brief time when we had, kids in the house and I would see, like, these beautiful carpets and I'd be like, man, one day these kids are going to move out and I'm going to be able to have this beautiful carpet that's going to feel so good and whatever. And then when I came back to Prosource, there was a Novia touch and I'm like, well, someday is today because my kids were older but still in the house, so I can have the anovia touch.
I can have the beautiful soft carpet, but that durability that you need when you have kids and pets in the house? Yeah, I know for sure. I went into the showroom actually right before we met today and I had to take some videos of a Nova carpet, and so it's very still fresh in my mind the how it looks, and it is really nice, but it has all those benefits, which it's like you get the best of both worlds. And so when it comes to carpet, a lot of people steer away from it
due to worrying about cleanup. Like you mentioned, having pets. How easy is this carpet to clean? And can you speak a little bit more on the Innovia Extreme Clean? Yeah, absolutely. So Innovia Touch are both very easy to clean when you see a carpet that has that extreme clean designation. What you're going to know about that carpet is that it cleans up faster and more thoroughly than other carpets.
And actually, with anovia in anovia touch, most spills can often just be cleaned up with just plain water. So very easy, very simple, very easy, very simple. What kind of budget would Anovia best represent, do you think? Does the product have like high price points across the board, or is it meant for small budgets specifically? Anovia actually has a wide range of of of budget.
So you can you can reach a lot of people with the Innovia product line up if you have a mid-range budget, a good starting place is is probably anovia because you've got your mid range budget, but then you've got all these performance properties and that come along with, with Innovia. Yeah. If that silky touch is important to your customer, then you know, via touch is a perfect step up. You're going to pay just a little bit more than you would for Anovia, but you're still going
to get all those same performance properties. Okay, cool. Silky touch with anovia touch. Exactly a way to remember exactly what the difference between them is, is something that you see contractors are typically reaching for. Or is it naturally catching homeowners eyes or both? I would really say anybody who is in the market for durable carpet that can withstand an active lifestyle. To your point, not just not just kids and pets and, you know, the active lifestyle.
But you're not willing to sacrifice, look or feel to get that performance. Yeah, absolutely. Like if you're having a big, if you're having a lot of guests over all the time, there's probably going to be spills. There's going to be a lot of foot traffic. So you definitely want something that can withhold all of that. So let's go into some of the styles and patterns.
The a lot of the fun things that I think about looking at carpet, how many options and varieties are there when it comes to those styles and patterns, and what does that range look like for sure? Yeah, sure. So for Innovia, you know, we have it all. We have your traditional solid textures. We have your little sassy, your textures with flex and whatnot. Yes. Patterns. Loops. It contains everything but I think the key is, it's not just Innovia is not just about looks.
Anovia is not just about performance. Anovia is about not having to sacrifice look or performance. You can get them both all in in a no way a carpet. Absolutely. Yeah, there definitely is a wide range of just kind of neutrals. Easy to look at carpets. But then some of those more bold statement that I've seen, so truly something for everyone. If you're looking into something specific, so do you personally have a favorite style or color from Innovia?
I do, I like, I like a variety of Innovia products, depending on what space in the home that you're doing. For example, in the bedroom. I like a nice solid texture. There's a product out there called CAD. Again, it's a three weight series, 40 colors. So you're going to hit a variety of price points with the three weights and with the, the 40 colors, you're going to hit virtually any color scheme that you're decorating for, for your coming casual spaces.
There's a product out there called Frisky Friday. I love that. It's also a texture. It's got flex in it, which is why we call it frisky guys. It's a little riskier than. And it's just a fun name. It is a fun name. It's very eye catching. If you see that it is make you want to ask more questions about it, probably, but you're going to want to touch it. Yes, exactly. So you definitely want to touch it because Frisky Friday has this fantastic feel to it.
Okay. So it's great for common spaces like, TV rooms or family rooms. You know, you're going to be comfortable getting on the floor with the kids to play games or whatever. If you have older kids, you know, you know, pre-teens and teens, all they want to do is lay around. If they like to lay around on the floor and watch TV. Frisky Friday is perfect for that because it's really very comfortable, but it's also very it's very attractive looking.
So and then for your more formal spaces, there's a fantastic pattern out there called Joycelyn that I really like, but the one I really want to mention is a linear loop, called Parnelli. And I just, I look at this and I'm like, this would be perfect for, like, a formal living space. And I'm just picturing, you know, my, my gal pals coming over and we're, you know, having our, our little foods on our little plates and just, you know, a nice little tea or something. Okay, cool.
That's those are all very interesting pieces. It seems like I need to. I'll put some, imagery. But there's really something for every space in the home that looks like. Absolutely. Like, like you said, the formal spaces and then something a little bit more simple for the bedroom or common spaces.
