Hey, there are folks. Welcome to a special episode of the Projection Booth. I'm your host Mike White. On this episode, I am giving you a little shout out as to some things that are coming up when it comes to the Fantasia Film Festival. The twenty twenty four fest runs from July eighteenth through August fourth up there in Montreal, but there's also an online component to

it, and I will be covering this festival remotely. Normally, they ask for a curtain raiser episode, which is a Hey, these are some of the cool things coming up in the festival. But I haven't seen the movies, so I'm not exactly sure what's happening at the festival as far as the films go. But I will tell you some of the great things that I know for sure will be happening and things that you should be definitely checking out.

First up, there are some new movies that are coming out from some friends of the show, Aunt Timpson, who's back with a new film called Bookworm, starring his pal Elijah Woe. Elert Kin, who used to be on the show quite often. Haven't talked with him in a while. He has a new film called The Dead thing, and our friend Miguel Janso who did Crumbs. He is back with a new one called Infinite Summer. It sounds like I will be definitely talking with him in a future episode all about

that one. Also, you can check out movies by Monte Hellman, who we've had on the show before. Rip His Cockfighter adaptation of Charles Williford's book is going to be playing in conjunction with the release of a new book from Kila Janie, all about the movie and the experience of Cockfighter. We will be doing a special episode all about that over the next few weeks. Slash months been looking forward to that one since twenty eighteen. Also, Vincenzo Natali

is going to be at the festival. He's going to be on a panel around the YouTube video series Every Frame of Painting, and also they're going to be showing a rest version of Cube at the festival. You might remember Alan Moyle who was on our Pump Up the Volume episode. His nineteen seventy seven Canadian film The Rubber Gun has been restored and will be showing up there as

well. Over the next few weeks, you're going to be hearing from Heidi Honeycutt, who has a brand new book called I Spit on Your Celluloid, The History of Women Directing Horror Movies from Head Press Books. She's going to be kicking off the sport of her book up in Montreal as well. Speaking of el Ra Kine from earlier, he and doctor Rebecca McKendree will be presenting a live podcast, Wow presentation of Fangoria presents the Colors of the Dark podcast.

Pretty exciting. Must be nice to be able to do that. And then one of the other things that I really would be excited about if I was up there, Elias Cotius is going to be in a new science fiction film called The Silent Planet. Jackie Chan and Stanley Tong are back together.

They've got a new film which is showing as well. And then the restored version of Hollywood nine h two eight that's actually going to be presented in conjunction with I Spit on Your Celluloid That is the new restoration from Grandhouse Releasing. And then last but not least, Quebec Metal Legends Voivod will have a documentary called We Are Connected that will be playing at the festival a few times.

Something not to be missed, so stick around to the Projection Booth podcast to hear more about the Fantasia Film Festival, and definitely keep listening for some reviews and interviews with some of the filmmakers. Thanks so much for listening. Be sure to stick around and come on back to Projection Booth podcast dot com when you can.
