Episode description

In this episode, Ed sits down with his childhood friend and professional footballer, Andrew Russell. Playing in one of the strongest football leagues in the world alongside some of the best players in the sport is a dream that many aspire to, but only few actually achieve. But what we don’t see is the trials and tribulations that come along with being a professional athlete. Since making the commitment to turn professional at 25 years old, Andrew’s journey has been far from easy. This episode begins by talking about Andrew’s story but quickly diverges to a deep conversation about goal setting, mindset, mental health, creating and trusting the process. We discuss the difference between rational vs emotional thinking; positive self-talk; visualisation; self-belief; being present and controlling the controllables. This conversation has plenty of ‘realness’ to it, as well as a number of actionable takeaways for folks in all walks of life.
