¶ Introduction and Welcome
Hello. Hello, everyone. Welcome back to the Praxis Speech Sisters Show podcast. I'm your host, Melanie Evans. I am a certified life coach and speech language pathologist here to help you up level your mindset and study strategies so that way you can earn a passing score on the SLP practice exam. The goal is for you to live an abundant and fulfilled career. So let's get into today's episode. Now I don't know if y'all remember that trend.
¶ Trending Topic: Chat GBT and Exam Prep
It was on Instagram, and it was in September where other content creators were asking chat GBT, which if you're not familiar with chat GBT, it's an AI platform where you can enter anything in there, and it will give you really what you need a lot of the time. You can ask a question, and it'll respond with a really thorough answer. And so the trend went like this. I was meant to put into chat DBT this prompt, and the prompt is, if you were Satan and wanted to keep someone from passing the SLP practice exam and starting their career, how would you do it? Y'all, the responses were not surprising, and they were also very insidious, like, shocking at the same time.
If that if it's possible to be shocking and not surprising at the same time, this would be it. So if someone were to embody a mischievous or malevolent character like a fictional version of Satan, they might use various tactics to create obstacles for a person preparing for the SLP practice exam. Here are a few hypothetical strategies. Now before I get into these different strategies that would deter someone from passing the exam, I really want us to keep in mind, like, wow. This is how I've been getting in my own way, or, wow, this is how these external influences have been getting in my way of passing the exam, or maybe this is how I've allowed these external influences to get my way.
¶ Hypothetical Strategies to Deter Exam Success
So the goal isn't for you to really meddle on these things. It's not for you to feel sad or guilty or ashamed, but, hopefully, more so to empower you and help you make those changes. Here are the strategies. The first strategy is distractions, creating numerous distractions in the person's life, such as unexpected events or drama or demands that draw their focus away from studying. Number 2.
¶ Detailed Breakdown of Detrimental Strategies
Self doubt. Instilling feelings of self doubt and anxiety about their abilities, undermining their confidence and motivation to prepare effectively. Number 3, procrastination. Encouraging habits of procrastination, making it easier for the person to delay studying and preparation until it's too late. Misinformation is number 4.
Spreading incorrect or misleading information about the exam format or content leading to an adequate preparation. Number 5, fatigue. Causing sleep disturbances or fatigue making it difficult for the person to concentrate or retain information during their study sessions? Isolation, encouraging social isolation so the person lacks support and encouragement from peers, which can be crucial during intense study periods. 7, overwhelm, and this is the last one.
Bombarding praxis preppers with so much information or too many study materials at once leading to confusion and overwhelm. So those are the 7 ways that you could be deterred from passing the SLP practice exam. Crazy. Right? My hope is to create a series and to address each and every one of these insidious behaviors that can keep you all from passing the SLP practice exam.
