Well all over that probably there was somebody got you think that can clue that native tongue? Native tongue? That was great. That was my mind.
Made a couple more of those. But that yea one in the middle like that too, where I was like, wow, well when you have a kid that had oh nose tackle maybe Yeah, that was That was a patch by me. Yeah, I was. I was very exciting to get that with all these football mines in here. Yeah, that was good. That was good. Market sounds like we're just a couple of weeks away from having you read a sponsor read but not today body today. But I'm excited to have them back. Yeah, in the glory is that right? Yes?
All right, man? That was I was. That was. I still can't believe how how long it took us to get Nickel a tesla like that. That that that was said five minute instant replay, and I still was going dictated nothing nothing, man. I actually had Nashville, Tennessee written down. That and night Train the only two things I wrote down. And as soon as you said predators, I was like, oh, here it is. And on the second clue, Marns, I also, oddly enough had
night Train. I was sitting on that one too. Real. Yeah, we were a lot of yeah, man, Mars between Tuesday and last night. Was it worth coming in twice this week? An hour and a half asleep? Well, I thought I'd be a little more loopy today, but I'm crazy the other day day this was? This was a week you were you were firing some boys. Yeah, you don't normally fire on Tuesday, groggy, Yeah, weird? All right? How you feel? Tom? All right? Could have been better? Yeah? You know, I'll always
have a native tongue. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I was waiting on nipple twist. Yeah. I was going to ring it and say nasty tea words. If the clue had been me breakers for next time. Man, all right, so there you go. Now we transition away from the initials and back to dot com Tom, because we don't always need to have you here, buddy. So what's next for you? I know Marn's got the All Star breaks, so she's got like a week off, no Wolves for
a week or so. But what happens post Super Bowl In the world of an NFL reporter, give me your next handful of months next week and a half. I'm here geting ready for free agency and whatnot. Combine leave for that next Sunday. That's Indianapolis for a week, then one more week prior to free agency. Free agency moves extremely fast. It will be dominated by trades this year because there's not a ton of like A level names that are
free agents. And then after you get past like Thursday of free agency week, it's kind of, you know, calms down a little bit. Here. There's always some stragglers. There's always a handful of veteran players who are either going to be traded or cut, and so you're dealing with those while you're on a beach somewhere in June. But yeah, I get through free agency owners meetings end of March. Draft is end of April in Detroit. Can't wait for that. And then yeah, then it's a fun time.
A couple of questions outside the realm of the vikings, Ay, were you surprised that Belichick didn't get hired. I was only surprised because it was so far down the line with the Falcons in terms of, you know, talking to Arthur Blank regularly. He was doing a lot of research, really getting ready to set up the program, and then you know, the rug got pulled out. The Falcons just you know, they did their background like everybody
else on Belichick, and you know what happened in New England. And I think that it's complicated when you're talking about hiring a seventy two year old who you know, everybody reduced it to power. It's not about power, it's about Bill. Belichick has set things up to win the same way since like nineteen ninety one in Cleveland. It's always going to be this how you structure
it. We're not going to have a true GM. It's going to be these are the parts that are going to need to be in place operationally. This is how we work. And you're buying into that we're going to blow up everything we know about ran an NFL franchise on the football side for like two to three years. Like, it's a hard proposition for teams to get their head around. So there was really only one team that you know, rose up here for Belichick, and obviously the Falcons didn't ultimately hire and they
went with Raheem Morris instead. I do believe Bill Belichick will be somewhere in the NFL in twenty twenty five, and that'll be one of the you know, driving storylines of this entire season. Hard question perhaps for you to answer, knowing what you do for a living. How is not giving you betting vice hawk? I thought we covered that the first two hours. I like my satin sheets. Oh how well betting? Oh oh, I'm sorry. Around the league, satin sheet, stop on that for a second. I
like to be able to slide out of bed in the summer. Don't they just kind of like stick to your body. That's a great feeling. Uh yeah, I like to feel like a subway sandwich man. That's not the sheets fault. I'm gonna miss that next week. It's been great this week around the league. How is quasi perceived if you know and are willing to
answer. I think that. I mean, people don't know Quays as well as they do other gms just because of you know, his background, and then two years is not a lot of time to judge a general manager off of we know that he's aggressive. I mean, I think that's the number one thing in terms of you know, trades and not being scared to deal within the division. You know, the Hawkinson trade or the draft trade that Brad Jamison Williams to Detroit. So you know, he's part of kinda and
if he hears me say this, he'll be annoyed. But like the new wave of gms where you're you're just kind of approaching things from more of an analytics standpoint as opposed to appear scouting standpoint, this is a huge offseason. I think that this is you know, again, you don't want to judge a GM off of two three years or one offseason, but this is we're talking about the quarterback, the superstar receiver, your best player, and a
top pass rusher that's about as big as it gets. And you're also constantly walking this line of the wolfs never want to go full tear down they always want to try to compete while they're building, and you know they've talked about the competitive rebuild. This is this is as big as it gets. It's gonna be interesting to see how it plays out. Do you guys mind if I keep going people like John Clayton. Let's just say John Clayton. Okay, when I think of the NFL, I think of John Clayton. He's
been doing essentially the same job for a very long time. Is this a dream job? And can you see yourself doing this for the rest of your life? Well, first of all, when John died last year, that was like gutting to me because he's like one of the great guys in the industry and somebody who when you're a young reporter coming up, would always be the one to like. You know, he'd interact with anyone had no ego to him. That sucked, you know, hearing that he had passed away.
But yeah, I mean, you know, his job, Like I stor remember running to John in like the Marriott restaurant bar after a forty nine Ers game that was at night, so it's like one in the morning and he's in there with stacks of papers. I'm not joking you like six inch stack of papers with every team's salary cap. It was going through individually, updating every player. He was tracking the cap himself, which you know,
obviously there's like programs, websites and things for that. But John was so into the work aspect of it, and he loved to have like granular conversations about roster building and the cap and players. You know, he was super into it with loved it. He'd absolutely you know, that was his make that and his wife were you know, that was that was his life. And yeah, I mean for me, I think I do a lot of different stuff, Like we did the Insider Show this year, and I'm optimistic
that's going to be returning in the future. You never know when the sunset your show at the end of the season, how that's going to come back. But that was super fun. You know, I love doing the hosting aspect of it, and you know, the news stuff definitely wears you out. Hawk I'll say that, like the you got to have a certain level of, as Pete Carol would put a competitive stamina of. You have good days and bad days. Some days you miss the scoops, some days you're
on a roll. And you have to be willing to like ride that roller coaster. There's other people who are really good at this job too, So if there are any ever anything that drove me away from it, it would be just like not wanting to, you know, be at a kid's birthday party and having some trade break and wanting to, you know, crawl into a hole. That part's not fun, but like the winning part of it's a lot of fun. So that's you know, It's kind of like being
an NFL coach. He went eleven games, You probably had a pretty good season, but still you lost six and you got washed out in the division round. You're not on top. The difference is there is no super Bowl title. Nobody hid into a trophy because you were the best reporter that year. You just kind of have to go, like, I think I was pretty good and then move on with your life. Some people have to be extremely happy just getting into the first round. Right, how dare you?
I know, I just wanted to see if you had checked out? Next question, how much money do you make? I couldn't think of anything else to ask. I'm sorry, I was not a question I remember wrong, Lay, Let's ask it differently. Was Clayton driving a Lamborghaine. Clayton was so I know, there's like, you know, the Slayer ad that everybody has seen, one of the classics of all time. He did not.
In fact, you know, my I knew John pretty well to my knowledge, never had a ponytail, certainly not like a full on mullet thing down his back. Now. He was like a you know, a pretty I won't say he's a normal guy because he was an ab norm He's a quirky guy. But he was like very positive and you know, I love to talk about a lot of different stuff, like yeah, would you know, invite me to lunch and it would be like just your standard run of the mill like sports bar. Like that was John, no one of us.
They were not pretentious or anything. He was great. It makes me on on a serious level of the salary question. Though you're income fluctuate. Though you just said you had a show and then it got sunseted, but you have other jobs. You're not just a salaried employee of NFL network. I have a contract that I get paid a certain amount to do whatever they tell me to do at that time. Really, like you're hosting a show or
you're not, and that you don't get paid extra for that. I think that my salary on the contract negotiated last year to go really deep in the weeds on a question I was not anticipating answer for my name. It's based on the idea that I would be hosting that show. Oh, got it, got it? Got it? Another phone? What's what's your old phone number? Can we call the sieve? Great Annie or bit? Let's call her old number? Say the same number. Then she texted me saying,
Hey, I got the new phone. I'm like, who is this? Yeah? Yeah, I'm so happy for that. You're the best. It's the best. Yeah, I'm so happy to see you. Sure have me, guess I appreciate that. Thank you very much. Glad to be here, glad to let Parish get a win. I appreciate you back. I hope to return during the off season. Here, let's do it. I gotta get back on the w show. Only Paul Rudd only knows one of
us. That's pretty cool in itself. Betty knows Parish. He probably does, yeah, and he probably watches Marnie on NBA TV and stuff when she's on there. So nobody watches that. No, oh, just checking up your pantents. Congrats Parish, nice win Mars. We'll see you next week. Yeah yeah, yeah, all right thanks to dot com Tom, Tom Pellow. Sarah nine to noon is next with Pa and in charge. We're back on Mondayday, five point thirty to nine him
