Looking Back at Secrets of Dumbledore Predictions!

Welcome back to Deep Potter discussion discussing Harry Potter fantastic Beast in the Wizarding World. Phantom I'm your host, Oscar, and this is episode 143. Today we are going back, finally, we are going back in time and taking a look at some of the predictions that I made so long ago about the secrets of Dumbledore. It has been far too long since we have dived into the realm of Newt and Tina and Queenie and Jacob just looking back at Fantastic Beasts. So with the secrets of Dumbledore hype pretty much subsided by now, I figured now it is a good time to pick it up again. So two episodes I will be looking at today, episode 90 and episode 125. A bit far apart, but they are both about the secrets. Thermal door. I will link both of them in the show notes if you want to take a listen. But in both of those episodes, I made some predictions about the secrets of Dumbledore. And today I'll be looking back at those, seeing what I said and really if it was right, if it was true. And I'm definitely looking forward to this because I want to see what I did. I haven't looked yet because I want to be surprised. So this is going to be a fun time. I do remember some of the ones that I made at the very end of 125, which is probably going to be the last thing that we're going to talk about here. It was a funny one. So that is going to be an exciting thing. So make sure you stick around because that's going to be really fun. This is going to be a great discussion. That is at Potter underscore discuss. All right, let's get into today's episode. So this is going to be an episode all about the secrets of Dumbledore. So if you're not brushed up on the content of the film, I recommend just kind of refreshing our memory. But this is not like super duper, in depth Easter eggs here and there kind of thing for the actual film. This is just kind of overviews because of course, at the time that I was making these predictions, we knew just about nothing and the trailer wasn't even out for a couple of days. So there's a lot of very general stuff in here, but there are some specific ones that I do give myself credit for. The very first one, the very first one I have, this is an episode 90. My first prediction is Queenie will question her decision to go with Grindelwald. This is true. This is a prediction that I made that did eventually come true. Of course, Queenie was very enticed by Grindelwald's regime in the crimes of Grindelwald and because she wanted her and Jacob to have happy fairy tale life together, she wanted him to come with her as they were both prince into the sunset and live in the beautiful Alps with Grindelwald. Of course, that is not what happens. And we see that. We see that in the crimes of Grindelwald, not in the crimes of Grindelwald. In the Series of Dumbledore. We see Queens start to fade away from Grindelwald. She says she doesn't really tell him everything and she really wants to see Jacob. She's realizing that going with Grindelwald is not how she spends more time with Jacob, because, of course, but that's so strange because if you choose to live in a different country, why would you not be closer to him, obviously. So she kind of understands that and we can see that it's a really big emotional struggle for her to not look at him, to not to walk by and not make it, like not have a reaction, just stay completely stone faced. And of course, she doesn't exactly accomplish that, but she does shy away from Jacob. So she is really trying to separate herself because she knows that she does not want to be with him, because if she is, she'll want to leave her in the world and that will be a bit problematic. Of course she does eventually, but that is because she wants to be with Jacob and she figures that Dumbledore and of course the blood pack is destroyed and Grinderwald's followers are pretty much diminished. At the very end. Of course, they're not all gone, but it was a big blow to their following and their following and of course Brunelwald, that he was not elected to premude them. So we see Queenie really struggling with Grindelwald because, of course, her ideal of being able to love Muggles, to love Nomad is still alive. She wants to live in a world where she can marry Jacob, where she can be with Jacob without fear of being prosecuted, which is a very well thought out desire. Of course, if the person you love is not someone you can marry, of course you would want to make it so you could. Her motivation is good, I think it is rooted in goodness, but it is absolutely in the wrong direction. I mean, even she pretty much drugged Jacob and brought him to a different continent in the crimes of Grindelwald and of course, against Jacob's will. And she got mad when he was not in absolute favor of that. So if that gives you any idea of what Quinnie was really thinking, I don't know it will, but that is my very first prediction. So let's move on to the next. My next prediction here. I think I'm going to give myself half credit on, because I did get it right, but it was not as correct as we assumed. So my prediction is it was revealed that there was some filming in Rio. There are rumors of filming in Rio. So my prediction was we might see Rio, we might see the Brazilian Ministry of Magic, even, like, really seeing that part of the world, even a South American school of magic, which has been really fun. So that was my prediction. And of course it came true, yay, for exactly a couple of seconds. So that's why I give myself half credit, because it came true. But it was absolutely not what I expected with COBIT. It was very difficult to coordinate filming and testing and everything, because, of course, it is a hundreds of millions of dollars operation that I want to go forward with. But there are hundreds of people working on the film, so it's hard to coordinate everyone and make sure everyone's negative and make sure everyone's wearing masks and just getting everyone together with Coba, it was very difficult. They had to start filming back. And that also affects playing in Rio. And maybe it wasn't even filming at all. And that was a storyboard and rumors. So it was a very confusing mess. I think that is an apt description of really what was going on here. But there was filming in Rio, and I don't know if it was literally in Rio, but there were some scenes that were supposed to be taking place in Rio. It was at the very end when Grunelwald lost the position of Supreme Mugwomp. You threw a fit. Then it was Santos that won the position. So all of her followers are like, Yay. And they shot up like the sun. And they were like, woohoo. And she was like, yes, thank, thank you, you. I wanted her to do a Queen wave so bad. You know how those royal waves were. They don't move their hands like the proper wave. I want her to do that's so bad. But she didn't, unfortunately. But it was, of course, happiness. Yay Grindelwald lost. And for like a second, we flash to the Brazilian Ministry of Magic and we see Chrysler redeemer in the very distance and like, on the mountain, and we see people cheering in the Brazilian Ministry of Magic. And then we cut away. And that's that. We saw the place that we were promised we would see for about the same amount of time that we saw, like, a random shot of the Chinese Ministry. That's strange, because the other contestant, Liu Tao, is from China and he was the Chinese Minister of Magic. He was going to put up for the position. So we saw a little clip of his Ministry and for the same amount of time that we saw the Ministry of Magic in Brazil, which is strange because come on. Come on. We're not even expecting the scenes from scene, I should say from China. And we weren't like there was no promise of that. There was no requirement, there was no obligation to show us that. But they did. Which is great because we got a view into another ministry. But we saw that we got the other ministry in South America of a couple of seconds fan amount of time. Which is very unfortunate because I was looking forward to a chase to top the rooftops of Brazil and they're like operating all around the continent and it's all of these kinds of things and they run like on the field in the middle of a football match and there are people screaming and they have to go. I was waiting for this awesome sequence, but alas, it did not come. So that was unfortunate. I was just waiting for them because, of course, when they were in Bhutan, I was expecting them to have to go through another prayer wheel or go through one of those have bridges going across into every corner of the world. I was just waiting for something cool like that magic like we've never seen interesting things like super port keys, I don't know, something crazy, because you know how they had to walk onto that sky bridge and then it kind of disappeared, was connected to the other bridge where the actual election would take place. I was waiting for a place they'd have to go to that had ten of those bridges and it was like north to the north of South America, then to the south of South America, then Antarctica, and then went to Australia, then New Zealand and Asia and Russia and West Russia and Europe and all. I was waiting for something like that. Then they have to go to South America. And then again they had that like, super chase now. Then they would aberrate back and go to Russia and then come back to Canada, and then they would come back and go to Los Angeles, whatever. I was waiting for something like that. Something where we could see the magic of the world, have a tour for really what it means to be a wizard. So that was what I was waiting for. But alas, we did not get it. But my prediction was correct. Now we saw at least a little bit of real. This is another prediction that I'm going to give myself half credit on because I was correct, but it was not in the way that I was expecting it. My prediction was Newt would try to use a beast in a magical battle. And I was correct to some degree. This is similar to the last one. It was using a magical creature in a battle. So what I'm thinking of is when Newt well, when Synthesius was captured and bringing to the Earth ergstog in Germany, and then Newt had to come save him, so he went to the irksdog and the dude at the counter took his did they take his wand? Yeah, they took his wand and his Porky Thai and all that kind of stuff. So he was left defenseless and he went in and he was like, so which way do I go? And the guy was like, you'll find your way very easily. So Newton went down and then they had to fight I was about to say they had to fight the Kraken. But it wasn't the Kraken. It was a manticore, the manticore that was guarding the earthquake. And of course we saw when the person's lamp went out, it went like the manticore grabbed it and then brought it down and just gave it a little chomp chomp, you know what I mean? And then the manticore chucked it back out of its pit and then all the little crab, all little baby manticors came in and ate the rest. So what a lovely place. But Newton had to get DC. South. So he untied him, he fell and they had to waddle out of there. They had to swivel out of there. And it was going well. But unfortunately it did not go that way forever. So the magic roar attacked and Newt called Teddy and Pickett who were in the cage with his wand and Port Key because he needed to have his wand. So he called and then they broke out and Teddy grabbed the tie off the guy and got the wand and they ran through the corridors. They found Newt. And that's what really got them to Hogwarts because they appraised it to Hogwarts after that. So that was kind of what I'm envisioning here. Of course. Teddy gave Newt the tie. Teddy is the nestler, by the way. Teddy gave Newt the porky tie. Newt threw it at These, who caught it. No, I am remembering this wrong. Picket and Teddy jumped off the ledge. Newt jumped off with them. He grabbed the tie and then through the end of theseus while Newt was still hanging on theseus grabbed it because he was falling off the edge. Then they Port Keyed to Hogwarts, which is kind of how I see one. I haven't seen it in a while or give me a break here. So I was correct. I was correct here because Teddy and Picket do qualify as magical creatures and they were used in the battle. I am considering this a battle because the magic or really it was like coming out of its pit and it was like shooting it's like tentacles at them and he was trying to shoot that lava goo on them and they have to defend themselves and use spells and stuff like that. And of course the huge tale was absolutely dangerous. So I am considering that a battle it was a battle with a magical creature. Which is why I wasn't expecting this because I thought that Newt would use a creature when they were in bhutan in the streets. I thought that's when they would use magical creatures, but they did not. They did not use magic creatures then. They used magical creatures for a battle in New York Stock, which was unexpected, but it was nonetheless. Now, this prediction was absolutely true, and I give myself 110% credit for this one. One and a half points for one prediction. And given this was a bit more general and it was a bit more expected, but I do think that there was still a bit of guesswork to be done in this realm. This prediction is that Grindelwald would try to gain a ton of followers. And he absolutely did. He 100% went on campaigns and drove through crowds and gave speeches and made threats and did all of his Grindelwaldish stuff to get ahead. And this is a condition that of course, of course came true. I'm imagining the scene when Grindelwald is driving into the state dinner and like, Jacob and Lalio there, and Jacob, of course, there's an assassination attempt and it is Jacob and it is unbeknownst to everyone, but we see he's getting like, he's like crowd surfing. He's on everyone and he is in the air, he is enjoying it. He is on top of the world. He is the man in that moment, he is the dude. So that's really what I'm thinking of here, because all of those people support Grindelwald and they're all his followers, they're all under his thumb, Chris. So that is really what I'm thinking of here. And I think that's a fairly good reflection of kind of the rest of the story here, because a ton of the people at the election, too, were also Grindelwald followers. I mean, there was Grindelwald's Mark was getting shot into the air and we even see some of his marking over other ones. We see there's a shot where they shoot up a group of people shoot Santos Mark into the air. It's like a son. But Grindelwald's followers cast another one of his marks that blast the sun out of the sky. So that, I think, was good symbolism, but also it shows just how many people it's good for a literal example and a figurative example, it shows just how many people were there, just how many supporters Grenobald had, but also just how much of an impact Grenobald is having and is going to have. So that is really what I was seeing in that scene. But that is kind of the position that I made. And I mean, really, that's it. It was 100% true. Grandwalt has so many people. And I'm also thinking of when he was outside of Not Dermatran, I always want to say the absolute opposite things. When he was in front of Nerve and guard his castle in Switzerland, and a bunch of his followers were there about to storm the castle in Bhutan. But that was a huge crowd. That was a huge crowd for just his little group of followers for his versatile core group. That was a lot of people. And we really saw just how many people were supporting Renault, which is a huge impact and something that I definitely noticed and of course I saw really there's a lot of people there. This prediction is of course one that came true. It was absolutely expected and absolutely one that influenced the story and will continue to do so. The next prediction I have here is about Credence. So Credence is going through a big transformation. He was just a boy in Fantastic Beasts and then he was turning into more of a practiced wizard in the crowns of Grindelwald, kind of joining with Grindelwald. He was proving to be more of it, more of an asset coming kind of friendly with him, not killing him on site. And then in the sequence of Dumbledore, he is really 100% with Grindelwald. So what is the transformation here, really? What's going on here? Well, the prediction that I made was about his magic. And the prediction I made was Credence would begin to learn magic. And I think I was right here, I think I was correct because Credence was given a wand, which was really the basis for this prediction, but I think it did come into play. So the scene that really proved this was the scene between Dumbledore and Credence in the street and Dumbledore sent that like magic spit or whatever, he was like through the glass and then hit Credence in the face or whatever. That was weird. But then they had their little duel, their little skirmish in the street and Credence was using his wand. He was using his wand, he was casting spells, it was exploding, he was operating, he was doing all that stuff and it was absolutely magic. It was absolutely magic. I don't know if it was really taught to him or if he kind of is using his obscurus for the main power, but of course he is a Dumbledore and it is revealed that he's a really Stumbledore, but he's using magic, he's 100% casting spells, which I think is why I do get the point here. So there we have it. Credence is using magic. He was given the wand and he was using it for magic. And that's that. I mean, now there are some pretty simple ones here. This is one of those simple ones. It is just a one and done. Was it using magic? Yes, he was. So let's move on, I guess. Next up, we actually have another Credence prediction. So Credence, of course is a very popular guy in the station down the door. He is definitely privy to a lot of conversations that are quite important between ava for us, between double door, between him and Queen him and Grindelwald. He is getting around the block. But one thing is absolutely clear, that is not two Credence and that is that Grindelwald is using Credence to his advantage. Grindelwald is using Credence. And that was my prediction. My prediction was, Grandwald will try and use Credence as obscurus to his advantage. Not even Credence, just as obscurus. And for this one, I am giving myself zero point 75 credit. That is what I'm giving myself here, because I think that I was somewhat correct. I think that Grindelwald was absolutely exploiting Credence, sending him to kill Dumbledore. Of course, Grindelwald couldn't, but he could have set anyone, but he chose Credence because Credence is a dumbledore and he has the obscure us and Grid Dumbledore wouldn't want to kill him. So there was a lot of strange things going on here, but that was one thing that actually came true. I am not getting myself 100%, because I would have, if it was admitted, if Grindelwald said to Dumbledore, yes, I have to use the boy because he's the only chance I have that I would have given myself 100% credit for. But because Grindelwald didn't outright admit it, there is room for doubt and there's also been room for Grindelwald to say, well, I wasn't doing this, I was doing that, and I wasn't doing that and doing this. So it's not 100%, it is just 75% credit here. But I think that is close to I definitely picked up on it and I got it right. I would give myself a full credit. But if there is any potential future films that perhaps may disprove this or may do something else to the story, I'm not going to say anything because then I'm going to go back on this moment and I'm going to play it for you and show just how smart I am. So there we go. That's my master plan for this specific prediction. But it was abundantly clear in the film that Grindelwald was actually using Credence for his own good, up to a certain point at least. That was not a bad thing. Credence knew that Grindelwald wanted to use him for not in a bad way, but kind of order him to give him instructions that would not only help Greenwald, but also help Credence. But of course, that is a very fine line. It's very easy to cross, which is exactly why Grindelwald did eventually get across that line and begin really using Credence instead of requesting his services be used. So that is my prediction about creating. Those are my predictions about creating. So let's move on. I am skipping ahead a bit in episode 90 because I want to get to episode 125, but here's the last prediction I have for episode 90 of the Potter discussion. Fantastic Beasts predictions. And this is the one that I'm probably most proud of. I'm going to give myself 500% points on this one because I'm so happy that I got this one straight on. This one is probably the one that I got the most correct, the one that we had the least information on, and the one that really came out to be the most correct, and that is that a new person will join Newt's team. And I was right. Yes, I was correct. Someone else. Lolly Hicks. However you say it, however you say it, the Illvermorny teacher joined the crew, joined Newt's team, and that is 100% what happened. No. Are you ready for this? I am going to channel my energy. All fax. No printer. What the what? Oh, my gosh. I'm so cool. So I am so proud of this one because I absolutely got this one right. Lily joined their team and she was there for a lot of the stuff. She was in Bhutan, she was in Germany at the state dinner, seeing Grindelwald. She was doing all this stuff, doing all this important stuff. She had the power of books on her side, because how could Grindelwald defeat her with the power of books? So good job, me. Good job, Me. I did such a bang on prediction. But this was, of course, absolutely 100% true. And Newt was actually kind of fangirling over lately because they were writing letters back and forth and they were really complimenting each other and it was, like, required like Newt's book was required reading. And Newt was like, oh, my gosh, Leela wrote the best book and she's so smart and her thoughts are amazing. So they were definitely hit it off. And the Sea, can you introduce me? Because they were, I don't know, maybe doing a little flirty. Flirt. So this was definitely a great addition to the team. I think they fit in with everyone to some degree and it was an absolutely perfect match. So that is that for episode 90. But there is still one prediction to go, a prediction in episode 125. So let's skip ahead in episode five and do that prediction. And now for my final prediction of the day. So, this prediction is one that I made, and I think the trailer came out and we weren't really sure what was going on with Hogwarts because we had seen Hogwarts in the trailer, there was some Harry Potter references and we weren't sure really what was going on. So I made this prediction. This prediction was that Hogwarts was not going to play a big part in the film and it was just used for the promotion. And eventually the film came out and I was right. Yes, I was correct here. Hogwarts did not play a huge part in the story. It was just to move the plot along a tiny, tiny bit because they needed a place to meet. It was actually the Hog's Head that was featured more than Hogwarts itself. And I was absolutely correct in thinking that there was not going to be a huge Hogwarts scene. There was nothing that big. It was the Room of Requirement that got that big build up reveal. I think the song is called or the pieces called the Room We Require. They pretty much said the Room of Requirement. But they said the room we require. And that was where the big build up for the piece led to. It wasn't even hogwarts itself. So the film pretty much disregarded the castle as a huge factor and just relied on the fact that the Room of Requirement is a thing, and it exists in the Great Hall, too. So there was a couple of references there. We saw Hogwarts across the lake, but that was it. But it was also used in the promotional material a lot, which is the other part of this prediction. It was used in the film poster. The film poster was at least in I know the one in Japan may have been different, but in other places, the poster was a phoenix flying away from or flying to Hogwarts. Come on. The trailer had the Snitch, it had Quidditch, it had Hogwarts, it had all this stuff that was 100% Harry Potter. So this really proves that the Hogwarts was very much used for promotion and used very little for everything else. And except for the Room of Requirement, of course, they could have found a replacement for the Room of Requirement, but except for the Room of Requirement, like I was saying, they could have done this anywhere else. They could have done this in Timbuktu. But they decided, you know what? Let's do it at Hogwarts. Just for that little spike of dopamine for the Potter fans. So that's my final prediction.
