Corporal Tyler Southern Tyler was on his second deployment to Afghanistan in 2010 when he lost both of his legs above the knees and his right arm above the elbow after stepping on an Improvised Explosive Device (IED).


Tyler retired from Active duty on September 21, 2012 in front of a large crowd of family, friends, and fellow Marines at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland. The Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps who was in Afghanistan with Tyler was also in attendance.


He now is a proud stay at home father, raising two kids with his wife Ashley. Works and Dreams only of being a stellar father, husband, and to honor the Fallen.
