Episode description

Welcome to the third episode of Good Bye to All That – Pop Break’s television podcast series that focuses on season (and sometimes series) finales of shows you absolutely need to be watching.

Pop Break’s Television Editor Alex Marcus is joined by Pop Break Television Columnist Alan Sarapa (writer of Alan’s Soap Box). Together this dynamic duo (sorry, had to) do a deep dive into the highs and lows of the debut season of the CW’s Batwoman.

Batwoman, which premiered on October 6, 2019, was developed by acclaimed television writer and producer Caroline Dries (Melrose Place, Smallville). The first season, which episode run was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic, “follows Kate Kane overcoming her demons and past to become Gotham City’s new symbol of hope as the vigilante Batwoman.”

The series starred Rose as Kane/Batwoman, Rachel Skarsten, Meagan Tandy, Nicole Kang, Camrus Johnson, Elizabeth Anweis, Dougray Scott, and the voice of MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow.

They break down:

  • How the show evolved over its first season
  • Whether or not it was helped by the Crisis on Infinite Earths miniseries event
  • Ruby Rose’s growing pains as the show’s lead
  • The Jacob Kane problem
  • The Kate/Sophie/Julia love triangle
  • Rachel Skarsten’s breakout turn as Alice
  • The introduction of Bruce Wayne
  • Our thoughts on Ruby quitting the show
