Episode description

Earlier this month, an influencer took to TikTok to denounce some women she heard at brunch bitching about their friends. No, this woman did not know the people she was filming. Nor was she friends with the person they were gossiping about. Chaos ensued, with the video being viewed over 1.2 million times over a week and people rushing to find 'Sarah', the subject of the gossip. But is gossiping still really considered the worst thing a person can do to their friends?

This influencer is not alone in her tactics; a new genre of TikTok's sees people recording strangers business and broadcasting it to millions - but just because these people are bitching about their friends, do they deserve to be outed online? This week, Ione and Gina are discussing the politics of gossip, TikTok as a surveillance state, and whether our business should ever be made public.
