[SPEAKER_12]: It's political. [SPEAKER_12]: Thank you. [SPEAKER_12]: Redical. [SPEAKER_00]: Hey, Jordi. [SPEAKER_04]: Hello, Shawn. [SPEAKER_04]: Look, we like to play with our voice. [SPEAKER_04]: Voice work is fun. [SPEAKER_04]: And we happen to have somebody come into the bar tonight who is an expert on voice work. [SPEAKER_04]: Carlos, I was rocking going to be in the house for the first time tonight. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, that would be fun.
[SPEAKER_04]: Also, we are, of course, going to be talking about the news of the day. [SPEAKER_04]: And there is some seriously cruel stupid. [SPEAKER_04]: Do you remember, Arnold House? [SPEAKER_04]: I do. [SPEAKER_04]: You know, what is it? [SPEAKER_04]: Fat dumb and stupid is no way to go through life. [SPEAKER_04]: Well, personally, I think, you know, stupid fascists and ugly is no way to go through life. [SPEAKER_04]: I agree. [SPEAKER_04]: That's what Trump is insisting on doing.
[SPEAKER_04]: So we will talk about the Possecombatatus Act, the horrible Trumponomics economy, all the other news of the day as
[SPEAKER_04]: Well, big thank you, by the way, to all of our affiliates and everybody listening from every corner of the bar, wherever you happen to be, whether you are in Minneapolis, Saint Paul listening on AM nine, fifty, or you're in Chicago on WCPTA, MA, twenty, or America, one radio in Atlanta, or detour talk radio in the tricydees area of Tennessee, or progressive voices radio worldwide, whatever you happen to be, or you could be one of those people. [SPEAKER_04]: Future people.
[SPEAKER_04]: Exactly.
[SPEAKER_04]: we like you if you're listening on the podcast thank you future people even if it happens to be tomorrow morning we're glad you're listening to us whatever time it is because that's absolutely exactly as long as you're listening just make sure you get your friends to subscribe as well and i'm not against you grabbing their phone putting on the podcast app and just typing in the politics ball i'm not a deal everybody's phones and just do that just do it secretly subscribe them they'll love it trust me
[SPEAKER_04]: it is it is a Tuesday evening and oh man okay so since I live in the closer to the DC area well I'm you know I'm basically in the DC metro area here um there's been a lot of posting I'm sure you've probably seen some of it on different social media sites Jodi have have you seen it on about different people [SPEAKER_04]: a lot of people been jokingly posting saying, I'm in this scary. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: So DC and they're showing like somebody having a picnic.
[SPEAKER_10]: That's what we did when they did that. [SPEAKER_04]: I mean, yeah, you know, I mean, they just, you know, folks in DC copy the folks in LA and said, hey, that was funny. [SPEAKER_04]: And let's let's do that smart. [SPEAKER_04]: It is. [SPEAKER_04]: It's it's funny and it is there's a little there's a little concern for this. [SPEAKER_04]: Broke a little bit late today. [SPEAKER_04]: We had already.
[SPEAKER_04]: Throne news stories back before Chodi and I did a in between her five thousand two hundred and eighty shows that she's doing today. [SPEAKER_04]: loved by the way, big thank you to Stephanie who you know Stephanie and Chris and Bella who we're all getting. [SPEAKER_04]: Richard Chu as well. [SPEAKER_04]: Yes, I heard that too. [SPEAKER_04]: Then Richard Chu got us to every show the politics bar. [SPEAKER_04]: Thank you, Richard. [SPEAKER_04]: I'm like everybody's doing it now.
[SPEAKER_04]: We are at at some point here probably when we start doing the video we should have everybody send us their video clips of them going the politics bar. [SPEAKER_10]: I'll just have wanting to do it and everybody's going to be like, oh, he's the real guy.
[SPEAKER_04]: he is he's the real deal and he's in your house is not well he it's definitely did ask you guys does he talk like that all the time I said oh yes I heard that I I okay I that two two diverge from the news for a second so when I first started radio I was at W M T A M and F M that's a A M six hundred ninety six and a half F M W M T and Cedar Rapids I was where I started [SPEAKER_04]: And there was a guy who was the majority owner at the time.
[SPEAKER_04]: His name was Frosty Mitchell, and he also had been a big investor in Adventureland, the theme park that's in Des Moines. [SPEAKER_04]: Frosty was a great guy, great radio guy, but he had two ways of talking. [SPEAKER_04]: He would talk like that. [SPEAKER_04]: or he would do his nineteen fifty-style radio voice where he was booming like this.
[SPEAKER_04]: And I learned this, of course, as I'm working there, and the thought came to me back then, and I told a joke to my general manager who laughed, he was in my norning owner, and he said, yeah, just don't tell that to frosty. [SPEAKER_04]: And then somebody actually did tell the frosty, and he thought it was funny. [SPEAKER_04]: So the joke was this. [SPEAKER_04]: It said, can you imagine a night at home with frosty mentioned in his wife?
[SPEAKER_04]: You know, one of those nights, and he comes up to her and says, honey, hey, you know, I was just thinking, you know, you're kind of looking good tonight, and I was thinking maybe we could, you know, [SPEAKER_09]: do it.
[SPEAKER_04]: So yeah, using that voice at home, Lonnie, I highly recommend it just saying just say [SPEAKER_04]: something I'm not just saying it is a little concerning obviously the fascism is getting kind of thick but the interesting thing is it's a stupid fascism.
[SPEAKER_04]: We've got articles today in the news on tap at the politics bar dot com a lot of the experts the agents even some of the folks that are here in DC that I can talk to are saying nobody really knows what the hell is going on. [SPEAKER_04]: It is similar to LA in that sense of their the guard members are coming in the FBI members have been pulled off of research on in cases like cases about child sexual molestation.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, no they're just supposed to just roam around capital hill now. [SPEAKER_04]: They don't really have any set direction. [SPEAKER_04]: It's very aimless. [SPEAKER_04]: It's very. [SPEAKER_10]: What happened here? [SPEAKER_10]: It's what happened here. [SPEAKER_10]: These guys were bored out of their minds because they there was nothing for them to do and all these guys in the National Guard by the way have day jobs.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, the men and women, all the people that are in the National Guard, they're being pulled away from their, their day jobs, their small businesses, their lives, so they can go stand around and do nothing. [SPEAKER_10]: Yeah, there was a car that got into a fender bender and like the amount of police and National Guard showed up and I think because they're bored. [SPEAKER_04]: Right, because there's nothing else for them to do.
[SPEAKER_04]: It is that there's no set direction either, but here's. [SPEAKER_04]: So here's the funny thing. [SPEAKER_04]: The the posicometatus trial. [SPEAKER_04]: It's a the second day that was going on in California. [SPEAKER_04]: And at last check, I was looking at Brandy Buchanan's coverage earlier today on the blue sky. [SPEAKER_04]: She was doing a ongoing thread for hours. [SPEAKER_04]: It doesn't look very good for team Trump. [SPEAKER_04]: And here's part of the reason why.
[SPEAKER_04]: So K breath. [SPEAKER_04]: on Monday decided to put his stupid little feet into his mouth. [SPEAKER_04]: And we've got, we've got a piece on that I believe in the news on tap today. [SPEAKER_04]: He put his feet in his mouth and normally this wouldn't happen, but because the lawyers on Gavin Newsom side are very smart, they heard what he said, and yesterday when the trial started, they entered it into evidence and the judge allowed it.
[SPEAKER_04]: And here's what was allowed into evidence. [SPEAKER_04]: Remember, Pasey Kamatatus is you are not supposed to use the military to do police functions on domestic soil. [SPEAKER_10]: Right. [SPEAKER_10]: Let's get slow. [SPEAKER_04]: Right, right. [SPEAKER_04]: It's it's in the Constitution. [SPEAKER_04]: This isn't one of those, you know, laws that somebody made up or something, which they've out there, it folks there all made up.
[SPEAKER_04]: Nothing came down from God, but whatever, but let, you know, anyway. [SPEAKER_04]: So, but it's in the Constitution. [SPEAKER_04]: So if you, if you believe in law at all, you at least should believe in the Constitution. [SPEAKER_04]: Bostic Comitat is in there. [SPEAKER_04]: You don't do that. [SPEAKER_04]: No. [SPEAKER_04]: But here's what Kegbrest said.
[SPEAKER_04]: So Monday during a press conference on Trump's attempted federal takeover of DC, Kegbrest said that National Guard will be, quote, flowing into the streets of Washington in the coming week and quote, he then followed it with the key words that were entered into evidence, which are, quote, they will be strong, they will be tough, and they will stand with their law enforcement partners and quote.
[SPEAKER_04]: He also continued, quote, in Los Angeles, we did the same thing working with the California National Guard working with ICE officers and quote. [SPEAKER_04]: In other words, breaking the law. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, he said that they were doing law enforcement. [SPEAKER_10]: What you're not allowed to do? [SPEAKER_10]: Yeah, he said that they can detain people to wait for law enforcement.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: And even though he gave other counter-mending orders that said, oh, no, it's not really law enforcement. [SPEAKER_04]: And we trained these these national guards people as they were going in LA on Pasi Kamatatus. [SPEAKER_04]: There was some quick slide show or something. [SPEAKER_04]: The fact is, is that he said it. [SPEAKER_04]: And there is other information that that basically is on both sides of that.
[SPEAKER_04]: And what a judge will look at is saying, first of all, if you're the Secretary of Defense, should there be any question as to this? [SPEAKER_04]: And no, and is there question? [SPEAKER_04]: The answer is, yes, there's a lot of question. [SPEAKER_04]: And that's what Newsom is. [SPEAKER_04]: That's why he took this idiotic Trump regime to court is to say there should not be a question. [SPEAKER_04]: You should not do this.
[SPEAKER_04]: And the constitution says you should not do this. [SPEAKER_04]: So if the judge is worth their salt, which I think it probably is as Judge Breyer's brother, former Justice Supreme Board Justice Breyer's brother. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, chances are pretty good that they will come back and say no. [SPEAKER_04]: And here's the thing.
[SPEAKER_04]: If this case day three of the cases supposed to be tomorrow, [SPEAKER_04]: And if this positive comatata's case is decided in favor of Gavin Newsom and California against this, there will be very strong. [SPEAKER_04]: Legal it. [SPEAKER_04]: I guess you could call it firepower. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, to basically tell Trump to F I pick up your national guard in F off. [SPEAKER_04]: Right. [SPEAKER_04]: Pounds and jackass.
[SPEAKER_10]: Yeah, he's thinking of sending him to New York Chicago. [SPEAKER_04]: Oh, everywhere. [SPEAKER_04]: Oh, I love this. [SPEAKER_04]: JB Pritzker yesterday. [SPEAKER_04]: He was doing a presser and he got asked about this kind of stuff. [SPEAKER_04]: Pritzker had an answer for Tiny Hands Donnie. [SPEAKER_01]: Let's start with. [SPEAKER_01]: There is a law on the books, confirmed by the Constitution called Pasi Comitatis.
[SPEAKER_01]: And it means that the federal government does not have right to send soldiers into American cities for the purpose of, well, for any purpose, really. [SPEAKER_01]: But specifically to fight crime, let's say. [SPEAKER_01]: And that is what he's suggesting that he will do violate that law. [SPEAKER_01]: It's not surprising to me that he suggests violating the law. [SPEAKER_01]: He's done it many times and been convicted of a thirty-four times.
[SPEAKER_01]: And so I would just say he has no absolutely no right and no legal ability to send troops in to the city of Chicago and so I reject that notion. [SPEAKER_01]: Woohoo! [SPEAKER_01]: Amen! [SPEAKER_04]: J.B. [SPEAKER_04]: Pritzker is right! [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I love that.
[SPEAKER_04]: Look, the reason that Donnie can send troops into DC, and like I said, there is there will be if they lose this Posse Comitatus suit, there will be some ammo for for the folks who support DC, but the thing is is DC is a it's a federalized zone anyway. [SPEAKER_04]: It is technically federal property. [SPEAKER_04]: So [SPEAKER_04]: there is some.
[SPEAKER_04]: It's going to be called in a question, but long and short, there's he's he's going to be in a lot thinner ice legally as far as that goes and you remember you got a lot of these these national guards people like you were saying, Joe, either they just like when they were in LA. [SPEAKER_04]: They didn't want to be there. [SPEAKER_04]: Nope. [SPEAKER_04]: They have no reason to be there. [SPEAKER_04]: They don't know legitimate reason to be there.
[SPEAKER_04]: They don't know why they're there. [SPEAKER_04]: And they don't want to be there. [SPEAKER_04]: And they're not there to really harass and harass you, especially because where they've assigned so many of these people is in the major tourist areas. [SPEAKER_04]: So, which tourism is down all over the country. [SPEAKER_04]: We got a piece in the news on tap today about how Vegas.
[SPEAKER_04]: The tourism mecca for the U.S. [SPEAKER_04]: I mean, Vegas is usually hopping when even when other tourist areas aren't. [SPEAKER_04]: And it's down right now and it's down because of Trump. [SPEAKER_10]: Yeah, it's down worse than the usual summer. [SPEAKER_10]: Because it slows down in the summer because it's so hot. [SPEAKER_04]: Right. [SPEAKER_10]: But no, it's way worse than a normal summer slow down. [SPEAKER_10]: way worse.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yep. [SPEAKER_04]: Well, and I saw something we didn't even put it in the news on tap today. [SPEAKER_04]: I saw that there was an update on Canada. [SPEAKER_04]: Something it's now like sixty or seventy percent a drop in Canadian tourism because they're like, I ain't going to the US. [SPEAKER_10]: No birds are not coming down here right now. [SPEAKER_04]: Nope. [SPEAKER_04]: So birds are not coming down. [SPEAKER_04]: Um, you know, they're all kinds of people laughing.
[SPEAKER_04]: Friend of Nicole Sandler who, you know, we love Nicole. [SPEAKER_04]: Hopefully at some point we could get her on the show too. [SPEAKER_04]: Last he's got a place up in Canada where she and her husband live most of the time now. [SPEAKER_04]: They're staying there and I totally understand. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I don't blame him either. [SPEAKER_04]: We've got more news on tap. [SPEAKER_04]: We do have Carlos Alzrocky coming in.
[SPEAKER_04]: He will bring all of his voices with him today. [SPEAKER_04]: Every single one. [SPEAKER_04]: All of them. [SPEAKER_04]: That'll be fun. [SPEAKER_04]: We also have the news on our part of me. [SPEAKER_04]: The drink of the day. [SPEAKER_04]: Look, it's Tuesday. [SPEAKER_04]: Let's get to the end of the amt hired and I need to drink myself. [SPEAKER_04]: How about this? [SPEAKER_04]: How about I get a drink? [SPEAKER_04]: You get a drink.
[SPEAKER_04]: Jody will get a drink and all of us will be back here in like two, three, four minutes. [SPEAKER_04]: Sounds like that. [SPEAKER_04]: All right. [SPEAKER_04]: All right. [SPEAKER_04]: Look. [SPEAKER_04]: Drinks around for everybody. [SPEAKER_04]: Come right back. [SPEAKER_04]: It's Tuesday night here at the politics bar. [SPEAKER_11]: We'll be right back after we pay some bills at the politics bar. [SPEAKER_04]: Tuesday night at a zephyletics bar.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Jody's dance and she's in a good mood, which is good because she's had a long work day. [SPEAKER_04]: It was great. [SPEAKER_04]: Hung out with staff in the gang this morning, hung out with Bob and David, and now you're hanging out here. [SPEAKER_04]: But all these wonderful people, who, by the way, thank you, by the way, for all of the interaction on the social media.
[SPEAKER_04]: You can get a hold of us any time at Blue Sky or Threads or Instagram or Facebook or yeah, we're at Twitter X, too, or even on Substack. [SPEAKER_04]: just find us at the politics. [SPEAKER_10]: And we haven't been suspended like rock. [SPEAKER_04]: Didn't even get that one into the news on tab today. [SPEAKER_04]: Yes, we will have to talk about. [SPEAKER_04]: Rock is the AI for Twitter and it got suspended from Twitter. [SPEAKER_10]: Yeah, it got suspended himself.
[SPEAKER_10]: It itself. [SPEAKER_10]: I don't know. [SPEAKER_10]: It just, and then it's saying that that was fake news and whatever. [SPEAKER_04]: One of the reasons why I don't trust, first of all, the AI that we have is not really AI. [SPEAKER_04]: It's what's sometimes known as LLM, large language models. [SPEAKER_04]: And basically, all they are is their computer programs that are looking to give you a response that is the response you want.
[SPEAKER_04]: They're kind of like, I do think animals have a level of intelligence. [SPEAKER_04]: And scientists have said, especially like dogs and cats have like, you know, there's intelligent as like a three to five year old child, depending on your child. [SPEAKER_04]: But AI models are more like dumb animals that are good at satisfying humans. [SPEAKER_04]: They're very good at reading humans.
[SPEAKER_04]: And whatever response that we think they're giving us, they try to give us that response. [SPEAKER_03]: It's people can answer. [SPEAKER_04]: Right. [SPEAKER_04]: They're not, they're not actually thinking it through. [SPEAKER_04]: They're not actually some animals can think things through. [SPEAKER_04]: But the versions of quote unquote AI that we have now are not really alternative intelligence. [SPEAKER_04]: They're not.
[SPEAKER_04]: They're not any they they are or artificial intelligence depending on how how you define AI. [SPEAKER_04]: They're not. [SPEAKER_04]: They are just computer programs that are looking to give us responses. [SPEAKER_04]: Where we go. [SPEAKER_04]: Oh, yes, that's what I wanted to hear exactly. [SPEAKER_04]: Not actually thinking. [SPEAKER_04]: Right. [SPEAKER_04]: That's. [SPEAKER_04]: Kind of important to people understand how dumb the AI we have is these days.
[SPEAKER_04]: I want to say it's as dumb as Donnie, but I will say that he's a complete idiot in the news on tap today. [SPEAKER_04]: The second round of news. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, serving it from the news on tap today. [SPEAKER_04]: The Trumponomics is failing. [SPEAKER_04]: Do you see the consumer price report today? [SPEAKER_10]: CPI. [SPEAKER_10]: I saw a little bit of it this morning. [SPEAKER_10]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Basically, it's steady, but core inflation rose faster than in June.
[SPEAKER_04]: The tariffs are starting to add up. [SPEAKER_04]: The costs are starting to add up. [SPEAKER_04]: And then you add in the fact that Trump nominated this guy. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: So this guy that Trump nominated to replace the head of the BLS. [SPEAKER_04]: He is dangerously incompetent. [SPEAKER_04]: We've got some pieces on that in the news on tap today. [SPEAKER_04]: The key, I was wondering, you know, I was like, how should I position this?
[SPEAKER_04]: Because we're not economists, you and I. And while we've reached out to Justin Wolfers, we haven't been able to get on touch with him yet, but hopefully we'll get him here at the bar, because he's hilarious. [SPEAKER_04]: And he's a great economist.
[SPEAKER_04]: But I was thinking this and I had on, I think I'd flip through CNBC and I had on MSNBC and Jared Bernstein shows up who I've talked about before that I, you know, we gently know each other and Bernstein was talking about how a bunch of economists across the board [SPEAKER_04]: Think this guy, his name is Antony, E.J. [SPEAKER_04]: Antony is the guy that Trump named. [SPEAKER_04]: He's an idiot.
[SPEAKER_04]: First of all, he's, he has been the chief economist at the heritage foundation. [SPEAKER_04]: Right. [SPEAKER_04]: But he's not really that experienced. [SPEAKER_04]: He didn't really graduate all that long ago. [SPEAKER_04]: He's got no significant, um, cloud within the economics world. [SPEAKER_04]: Right. [SPEAKER_04]: Right. [SPEAKER_04]: Right. [SPEAKER_04]: Guys, he's a, he's a, he's a, he's a kid. [SPEAKER_04]: I don't even know if he's thirty years old.
[SPEAKER_04]: But you've got economists across the board. [SPEAKER_04]: I mean, all of your, all of your leftening economists, yes, including Jared, including Justin Wolfers, you're like this guy's a moron. [SPEAKER_04]: But then you've got Jessica Reedle, former Heritage Foundation Research Fellow. [SPEAKER_04]: Now at the conservative Manhattan Institute. [SPEAKER_04]: said that EJ Antony's articles and tweets are, quote, probably the most error filled of anything tank economist right now.
[SPEAKER_04]: And quote, here's another one. [SPEAKER_04]: Libertarian Cato Institute's economist, Jerry Hortahl, Jeremy Hortahl says, quote, this guy is, here's the exact quote, either massively misunderstands labor market data or he is willing to lie repeatedly about it after being corrected by dozens of economists. [SPEAKER_04]: Right. [SPEAKER_04]: So this guy that Trump named ahead of the BLS is BS. [SPEAKER_04]: Oh God, I love you. [SPEAKER_04]: You're so smart about this stuff.
[SPEAKER_04]: Jody is right. [SPEAKER_04]: Okay, he's totally BS. [SPEAKER_04]: He's completely turned. [SPEAKER_04]: And so it makes us wonder the inevitable question is, if this guy is such an idiot, can we count on the numbers? [SPEAKER_04]: No. [SPEAKER_04]: Maybe.
[SPEAKER_04]: Jared noted it's I think I saw Justin noted in social media online there are about two thousand people that work at the PLS and we talked about this we've talked about this last week we talked about it yesterday last night here in the bar that [SPEAKER_04]: The people who work at the BLS are overwhelmingly about the facts, like some people get geeked up about new music, like the New Taylor Swift album, or baseball, or WMBA basketball, or theater, or new movies.
[SPEAKER_04]: These people to BLS, they may like some of these other things, but they also get geeked up about straight down the middle facts. [SPEAKER_04]: They just like their statistics. [SPEAKER_04]: They are statistics people. [SPEAKER_04]: That's kind of their thing. [SPEAKER_04]: There are about two thousand of them that work there. [SPEAKER_04]: The commissioner doesn't even see most of the numbers, especially the monthly job numbers.
[SPEAKER_04]: The commissioner does not see those numbers until depending on what the number set is, roughly twenty four hours before they're released. [SPEAKER_04]: So even though this guy is going to plead more on [SPEAKER_04]: The, everybody knows when they're released. [SPEAKER_04]: The BLS has a calendar. [SPEAKER_04]: The calendar hasn't changed in ages. [SPEAKER_04]: This is when the job, the job's numbers, for example, job's numbers always come out the first Friday of every month.
[SPEAKER_04]: Right. [SPEAKER_04]: Everybody in the media, everybody in economics, everybody on Wall Street and in business, especially banks. [SPEAKER_04]: Bank. [SPEAKER_04]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_04]: God, you're smart. [SPEAKER_04]: I love that. [SPEAKER_04]: You know exactly what I was thinking. [SPEAKER_04]: They all know that that's the day that that comes out. [SPEAKER_04]: They also all know exactly when, to the minute, the commissioner of the BLS gets the numbers beforehand.
[SPEAKER_04]: This douchebag that is getting in here, Antony. [SPEAKER_04]: First of all, he's going to have to get Senate confirmed. [SPEAKER_04]: But then there's going to be the whole thing of let's, he'll get in there because Republicans are, you know, they'll bow the Trump. [SPEAKER_04]: But he won't get the numbers any sooner or any later than anybody else. [SPEAKER_04]: And everybody knows exactly when he gets numbers and everybody knows exactly when he gets them out.
[SPEAKER_04]: They are too complicated. [SPEAKER_04]: When they send out the numbers, it is too complicated for them, for one person to go in and adjust all of the numbers. [SPEAKER_04]: If he goes in and adjust one numbers on one chart, there's a lot of charts that come out. [SPEAKER_04]: Just because you and I and a lot of people, we hear the top lines at CNBC or CNNNMSNBC or your local news that say, oh, the economy's up, the economy's down, whatever.
[SPEAKER_04]: There's a lot of other charts. [SPEAKER_04]: And you can't just adjust one without it infecting the others. [SPEAKER_04]: Right. [SPEAKER_04]: So if he goes in and plays with it, it will be very, very obvious that somebody played with the numbers. [SPEAKER_04]: And of course, if he does that, the instant he does that, the markets will tank. [SPEAKER_04]: And as we all know, when the market's tank, Donald Trump goes, who the hell made the market's tank?
[SPEAKER_04]: And he sets them on fire, metaphorically speaking. [SPEAKER_04]: So it will be difficult for this douchebag. [SPEAKER_04]: to have the job he is looking at having and also make Donnie dumbass happy. [SPEAKER_10]: Well, he's going to say that this month, we created three hundred fifty million jobs in these United States.
[SPEAKER_04]: And he can try to lie, but like I said, when the BLS puts a number, if the BLS now puts out anything less than what they already put out, [SPEAKER_04]: the market will freak out if they if he screws with numbers in a way that's obvious somebody will what will instantly know it and the market will freak out basically. [SPEAKER_04]: They've set themselves up on a little bit of a high wire. [SPEAKER_04]: And if they decide well we're going to fuss with this stuff.
[SPEAKER_04]: Everybody is gone. [SPEAKER_04]: No, it is it's it's my choir teacher back in high school. [SPEAKER_04]: Love the guy John Peters and everybody called him Pete. [SPEAKER_04]: Thank you Pete. [SPEAKER_04]: He's now moved up to Minnesota. [SPEAKER_04]: He's fantastic. [SPEAKER_04]: And Pete always said something that was interesting. [SPEAKER_04]: He said, if you're singing in a group by yourself, you're in a room with more people that are in your group.
[SPEAKER_04]: Somebody in that room is looking at you. [SPEAKER_10]: Yes, always. [SPEAKER_04]: Right. [SPEAKER_04]: But here's the thing. [SPEAKER_04]: If somebody in the room is looking at you, you can't, I mean, you can fake it somewhat by not necessarily pushing your voice out. [SPEAKER_04]: Right. [SPEAKER_04]: But you can't completely fake it. [SPEAKER_04]: You can't just, you know, not open your mouth. [SPEAKER_04]: You can't, you know, that's, that's how that goes.
[SPEAKER_04]: Jody has got her, she's, she's, she's concentrating on something here. [SPEAKER_04]: I can't, I can't see what you got. [SPEAKER_04]: What do you got over there in your corner of the bar? [SPEAKER_10]: I was looking at the drink of the day. [SPEAKER_04]: Jody is getting thirsty for the drink of the day. [SPEAKER_04]: We do have that coming up. [SPEAKER_04]: It is, it is a salute to, to my mom's boyfriend. [SPEAKER_04]: Okay, that that is a very good.
[SPEAKER_09]: Not Stephanie's boyfriend. [SPEAKER_04]: We will talk about that coming up when we do the drink of a day. [SPEAKER_04]: If you already subscribed and you got the drink of a day, you'd know exactly who we were talking about. [SPEAKER_04]: So if you haven't subscribed yet, you should do that at the politics bar. [SPEAKER_04]: All right.
[SPEAKER_04]: So the economic stuff, the biggest thing for me, I mean, we mentioned yesterday, we had the story, we mentioned the Trump Taco with the Chinese tariffs. [SPEAKER_04]: All of the economics stuff, it's concerning to me because of the fact that it makes things unstable. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: And when you add in the fact, these redistricting wars that are going on, that just makes things even more unstable.
[SPEAKER_04]: We were talking about that a little bit when we came into the bar here. [SPEAKER_04]: So Greg Abbott is threatening once again. [SPEAKER_04]: He's like, Oh, yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Oh, yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Oh, yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Well, I can do it more. [SPEAKER_04]: I could do it more. [SPEAKER_04]: Greg Abbott is a complete douche bag. [SPEAKER_04]: By the way, just yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: So this was him yesterday on Jake Tapershow.
[SPEAKER_05]: All those big blue states, they've already gerrymandered. [SPEAKER_05]: Look at the map of Illinois. [SPEAKER_05]: Look at the map of California, New York and Massachusetts and so many other blue states. [SPEAKER_05]: They gerrymandered a long time ago. [SPEAKER_05]: They got nothing left with regard to what they can do. [SPEAKER_05]: And know this, if California tries to gerrymander five more districts, listen, Texas has the ability to eliminate ten Democrats in our state.
[SPEAKER_05]: We can play that game more than they can because they have fewer Republican districts in their states. [SPEAKER_04]: He is wrong. [SPEAKER_04]: As usual, Greg Abbott is an idiot who couldn't count his eyeballs and get the same number twice. [SPEAKER_04]: I'm not kidding about this. [SPEAKER_04]: We put a piece up today in that news on tap. [SPEAKER_04]: It makes it very, very clear.
[SPEAKER_04]: Look, if you want to count the possibilities by the numbers, [SPEAKER_04]: And you got, you got, you know, Democratic states, I'm glad that you've got the governors of New York and California and Illinois, all pushing forward. [SPEAKER_04]: And they should. [SPEAKER_04]: We talked about this last week. [SPEAKER_04]: I'm still a hundred percent on with that. [SPEAKER_10]: Washington State can do it. [SPEAKER_04]: Jersey, Maryland. [SPEAKER_04]: We just hope this.
[SPEAKER_04]: And yes, there are Republican states now. [SPEAKER_04]: Hi, I was pushing forward for this pushing forward. [SPEAKER_04]: But here's the deal, guys. [SPEAKER_04]: If you add up the possibilities, let's say all the Democratic states push forward and they're able to take all of the seats that they can and the Republicans do the same thing. [SPEAKER_04]: You want to know what the score is, Jody, do you want to know what they said? [SPEAKER_04]: Fifteen to fifteen.
[SPEAKER_04]: Democrats would add fifteen seats, but so would Republicans. [SPEAKER_04]: So the net addition of seats would be zero. [SPEAKER_04]: This would be one of the stupidest own goals that Republicans have forced us to go through. [SPEAKER_04]: You know, since they elected Donald Trump, and look, it's, you're gonna push and you're gonna, oh, I'm gonna, if Republicans could get ten seats out of this, free and clear.
[SPEAKER_04]: Then you'd look and you'd go, maybe that's something that they could do to net them an advantage. [SPEAKER_04]: Even though as we talked about last week, they've already done the checking with the partisan voter index, the PVI, that it would make a lot more of their seats, especially in Texas, but also in other states, a lot more vulnerable and they couldn't be guaranteed to win those extra seats. [SPEAKER_04]: But that aside, let's say that they could get them that.
[SPEAKER_04]: That would be the only way. [SPEAKER_04]: But it doesn't. [SPEAKER_04]: It doesn't guarantee them that at all. [SPEAKER_04]: It actually looks like mostly it would be a net zero and it would piss off a lot of people because Americans don't like that. [SPEAKER_04]: Americans want to vote for whoever they elected. [SPEAKER_04]: They don't want the people who are in those elected seats to pick their voters. [SPEAKER_04]: That's not how it works.
[SPEAKER_04]: You were telling me that Tom Hartman was talking about this earlier. [SPEAKER_10]: He was, I was listening to him on the way home from Ms. [SPEAKER_10]: Miller's. [SPEAKER_10]: And he's talked about this several times. [SPEAKER_10]: I want to say it was Ohio. [SPEAKER_10]: They do what's called caging. [SPEAKER_10]: So what that is is they send postcards to mainly democratic leaning areas of the state.
[SPEAKER_10]: And they send a postcard saying, hey, [SPEAKER_10]: Do you still live here? [SPEAKER_10]: Blah, blah, blah, blah. [SPEAKER_10]: And you have a limited time period to send it back to basically keep your name on the voter rolls. [SPEAKER_10]: The return on these postcards, because most people see something like that and they toss it, because it doesn't look like it's official. [SPEAKER_10]: It's a postcard. [SPEAKER_04]: Right, it looks like junk mail. [SPEAKER_10]: Exactly.
[SPEAKER_10]: And so that most people only six percent of people return them. [SPEAKER_10]: So then the other ninety four percent [SPEAKER_10]: They're their names off the voter rolls and they don't even know it until they try to vote. [SPEAKER_04]: Right, they're going to vote and then their name is on the voter rolls and then even if they have registration there, it may not count. [SPEAKER_10]: Exactly.
[SPEAKER_10]: So what Tom Hartman suggested and I'm against caging and so is he is the Democratic states do the same and just send them to Republican areas. [SPEAKER_04]: Look, we've got a fight fire with fire. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: That's where Republicans are going to do. [SPEAKER_04]: let's do the same thing. [SPEAKER_04]: I'm I'm down with the bloggie folks. [SPEAKER_04]: Yes, John. [SPEAKER_04]: Let's go. [SPEAKER_04]: I'm with him. [SPEAKER_04]: I'm with him on that.
[SPEAKER_04]: Glad you were able to bring that in because I had not heard anybody talked about that. [SPEAKER_04]: So we've got more coming up. [SPEAKER_04]: We are going to get to that drink of the day next because we're both a little bit thirsty. [SPEAKER_04]: So we will do that Carlos Alzrocky coming into the bar to it's Tuesday night with Jody and me and you here at the podcast. [SPEAKER_11]: We'll be right back after we pay some bills at the politics bar. [SPEAKER_04]: It is, too.
[SPEAKER_04]: That's it. [SPEAKER_04]: Here are the politics bar. [SPEAKER_04]: Thank you very much. [SPEAKER_04]: We're hanging out with us coming into the bar and joining us whatever way you happen to be. [SPEAKER_04]: Look, obviously, you know, some of you are listening on the radio and we love that because we love the radio. [SPEAKER_04]: But for those of you listening on the podcast, you can listen to your podcast player. [SPEAKER_04]: You got your phone in your hand already.
[SPEAKER_04]: Just go to your podcast player type in the politics bar boom or here's a suggestion for you. [SPEAKER_04]: You go to your podcast player. [SPEAKER_04]: You're going to get the podcast with ads. [SPEAKER_04]: And we like that because that helped pay some bills. [SPEAKER_04]: But also, if you just subscribe in the politics bar.com, six dollars a month, lowest cover charge in the country. [SPEAKER_04]: It will get you the politics bar podcast ad free.
[SPEAKER_04]: It also gets you the drink of the day. [SPEAKER_04]: You get that all those recipes and it gets you the news on tap, which you can subscribe to the news on tap for free. [SPEAKER_04]: Otherwise, but trust me, the six dollars is worth it. [SPEAKER_04]: Subscribe now at the politics bar. [SPEAKER_04]: All right, Jody, we're both thirsty and we both wanted to give us a loot to your mother's other boyfriend. [SPEAKER_10]: Well, he did ask if she was single when I met him.
[SPEAKER_10]: And I said, no, she's been with her husband almost thirty years now. [SPEAKER_04]: So, well, I mean, you know, he knows, you know, a smart, beautiful woman is, you know, a fantastic thing. [SPEAKER_04]: If you're a guy, you're just, you know, like that's [SPEAKER_04]: I have to admit that is a little bit misogynistic. [SPEAKER_04]: But that is how I am. [SPEAKER_04]: I just, you know, beautiful women are very nice, and especially smart beautiful women.
[SPEAKER_04]: Smart first, because, you know, smart is great. [SPEAKER_04]: And that's, you look smart. [SPEAKER_04]: Well, but your mom is also your mom is still. [SPEAKER_04]: She's smart. [SPEAKER_04]: She's funny. [SPEAKER_04]: And so this guy, who is this guy that we're talking about? [SPEAKER_04]: Who's giving this test? [SPEAKER_10]: I think you might have heard of him. [SPEAKER_10]: He has a little show on MSNBC called The Last Word. [SPEAKER_04]: Wow, Lauren.
[SPEAKER_10]: Lauren's so Donald and I literally found a drink called the last word. [SPEAKER_04]: The last word. [SPEAKER_10]: And so I thought that would be good because we love Lauren's. [SPEAKER_10]: I got to meet him once in person and he was I spent a good twenty minutes just the two of us talking and he is he's very nice. [SPEAKER_04]: He's interacted with me via social media and we happen to know some of the same people you included.
[SPEAKER_04]: But it's just kind of Lawrence Lawrence is a good guy, but also his team, I know, works really hard. [SPEAKER_04]: Um, you know, interact with some of the producers from there. [SPEAKER_04]: It's, it's a good show. [SPEAKER_04]: So it's, well, it's well produced. [SPEAKER_10]: It's well written. [SPEAKER_10]: He's not retiring or just saluting him. [SPEAKER_10]: That's all. [SPEAKER_10]: Yeah, he, it's a great show. [SPEAKER_10]: It's well done. [SPEAKER_10]: It's well researched.
[SPEAKER_10]: It's well, it's just well sourced. [SPEAKER_04]: He's just very good going on right now, depending on where you're listening to him. [SPEAKER_04]: So we, you know, that's what DVRs are for exactly. [SPEAKER_10]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_04]: So what is in the last word?
[SPEAKER_10]: Okay, you need a coop glass chilled a shaker ice for said shaker then here are our ingredients an ounce of dry gin two thirds of an ounce of green sugar or any alternative herbal liqueur something that is used other yeah something that's got an herbaly kind of thing two thirds of Luxardo Marashino liqueur which is like the cherries [SPEAKER_10]: Right. [SPEAKER_10]: Two thirds of an ounce of lime juice freshly squeezed like we always like it.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_10]: A third of an ounce of chilled water. [SPEAKER_04]: And then see that the kind of it's sometimes that the herbal stuff can be really strong so I can see it. [SPEAKER_10]: I mean, if you if you don't want to use the water, you can just use a lot more ice in the shaker. [SPEAKER_03]: Okay, you know. [SPEAKER_10]: Lines s twist. [SPEAKER_10]: Excuse me. [SPEAKER_10]: Lime zest twist. [SPEAKER_10]: That's not easy to say.
[SPEAKER_10]: And two Marachino cherries skewered for the garnish. [SPEAKER_10]: Now, this is what you do. [SPEAKER_10]: You prep the lime zest and you skewer the cherries and then set them aside for all the ingredients, all of them into the shaker with ice and shake until it's chilled. [SPEAKER_10]: Then you strain it into the coop glass. [SPEAKER_10]: You express the lime zest over the cocktail and discard it. [SPEAKER_10]: So you kind of squeeze it over. [SPEAKER_04]: Got it.
[SPEAKER_10]: And then you garnish with the skewered cherries. [SPEAKER_10]: So it's a very pretty little drink. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, the picture on it's great. [SPEAKER_04]: I mean, if you guys, you can look and go to the politics bar.com. [SPEAKER_04]: You can even see the picture without seeing the recipe there for free. [SPEAKER_04]: But you should subscribe and get the drink of the day.
[SPEAKER_04]: It is one of the wonderful things you get when you subscribe and pay that six dollar cover charge at the politics bar. [SPEAKER_10]: Amen. [SPEAKER_04]: Thank you very much, Jordi. [SPEAKER_04]: That was very cool. [SPEAKER_04]: We love that. [SPEAKER_04]: Alrighty we got more news on tap because well that is what we do here at the politics bar we talk about all kind of new stuff and [SPEAKER_04]: Did you see California Republican Doug Lamalfa his town hall?
[SPEAKER_04]: I didn't grab a cut because it was just loud and it was just so much yelling. [SPEAKER_04]: Right. [SPEAKER_10]: Right. [SPEAKER_10]: I read about it. [SPEAKER_10]: I didn't listen to it because I just don't just be. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I've got, if you want to listen to it, you can watch. [SPEAKER_04]: We've got a clip in the news on tap at the politicsbar.com. [SPEAKER_04]: Um, first time in eight years, the guy holds a town hall.
[SPEAKER_10]: And he expects to be greeted nicely. [SPEAKER_04]: They were literally calling for him to be impeached at his own town hall. [SPEAKER_04]: I'm just saying, I have a feeling that he might not keep his seat, and especially if if Governor Abbott decides to keep pushing, I can guarantee that Governor Newsom will make sure that you're high so it would be up for God's issues. [SPEAKER_04]: But you know, you know, you don't have to find something else to do.
[SPEAKER_04]: Maybe he'll use cars or something. [SPEAKER_04]: Maybe he can go talk to his friend, I said about that. [SPEAKER_09]: There you go. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, just kind of it's it's just absolutely ridiculous. [SPEAKER_04]: But but that's look there. [SPEAKER_04]: That's bad government. [SPEAKER_04]: Your representatives are supposed to see you. [SPEAKER_04]: They're supposed to be there for you.
[SPEAKER_04]: And if you haven't held the town hall in eight years, don't expect your your people to be happy or nice because they're not going to be and I wouldn't expect them to be that just it seems absolutely stupid to me to expect that kind of thing. [SPEAKER_10]: Yeah, I went to a couple town meeting town halls when Brad Sherman was my, we were redistricted. [SPEAKER_10]: But I went to a couple when he was down here years ago during the first Trump regime.
[SPEAKER_10]: And everybody was very respectful to him. [SPEAKER_10]: He actually had introduced articles of impeachment early on in Donald's first term. [SPEAKER_04]: OK. [SPEAKER_04]: So everybody was like, why are you doing that? [SPEAKER_04]: Was he a Republican? [SPEAKER_10]: Brad Sherman, no. [SPEAKER_04]: Oh, okay. [SPEAKER_04]: I was going to use Democrat. [SPEAKER_10]: Yeah, he is. [SPEAKER_10]: He was a wonderful representative. [SPEAKER_10]: He isn't wonderful representative.
[SPEAKER_04]: And he's not in your area anymore. [SPEAKER_10]: No, they've they changed the maps. [SPEAKER_10]: I mean, I have a Democrat, but change the maps a little bit by only a couple of blocks. [SPEAKER_10]: It wasn't like a big major change. [SPEAKER_10]: But, um, but no, and I went to it. [SPEAKER_10]: He was very nice. [SPEAKER_10]: He's very personal and nobody yelled at him because he's a good person and does his job.
[SPEAKER_04]: And he also clearly shows up and has that, you know, look, I don't give a lot of credit to these Republicans who are saying, well, especially like Doosh bag Mike Flood back in Nebraska because they, they said, Oh, well, he still does that. [SPEAKER_04]: You know why Mike Flood does those town halls so that he can get the clips that he can air on right wing media and say, See, they hate me. [SPEAKER_04]: This is why I'm here. [SPEAKER_04]: You should love me because they hate me.
[SPEAKER_04]: It's just dumb. [SPEAKER_10]: There are actual constituents. [SPEAKER_10]: They don't love you. [SPEAKER_04]: Right. [SPEAKER_04]: And here's the thing is, is that if they're your constituents, regardless of whether they are Republicans or independence or Democrats, if you're a Republican or a Democrat or an independent elected member, you are still supposed to make them happy. [SPEAKER_04]: You are still supposed to do your job. [SPEAKER_04]: to take care of the needs for them.
[SPEAKER_04]: The whole reason for government, as we've said a hundred times, is to do the things that we can't do for ourselves. [SPEAKER_04]: And that is, it's not to do the things for the people who align ideologically with you. [SPEAKER_04]: It is to do them for all of the people. [SPEAKER_04]: Because if you don't, if all you're doing is you're operating off of Propaganda and BS, you get what happened at the CDC. [SPEAKER_04]: I wanted to make sure you saw that.
[SPEAKER_04]: I saw I saw it too, but I put it in a piece. [SPEAKER_04]: So the guy who was shooting, shot almost two hundred shots broke a hundred and fifty windows at the attack on the CDC. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, and these are, these are already protected windows. [SPEAKER_04]: I mean, this is, this is not like, you know, your average house window. [SPEAKER_04]: This is a, I mean, these are the, the somewhat shadow proof, somewhat bulletproof windows already. [SPEAKER_09]: Right.
[SPEAKER_04]: And yet this guy was using the kind of ammo when the kind of firepower to get through this he's pissed and he's pissed because Donald Trump and RFK junior are pushing all of this ridiculous BS about [SPEAKER_04]: a lot of different things. [SPEAKER_04]: But apparently I guess vaccines and COVID. [SPEAKER_10]: Yeah, he thinks he got sick from the vaccines. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, which that's the kind of BS that the RFK junior has been pressing.
[SPEAKER_04]: And that's that's bad government. [SPEAKER_04]: When you get bad government and people say I have no other recourse, they will resort to violence. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, this has happened in virtually every government in history. [SPEAKER_04]: When people say, I have no other recourse, they pick up pitchforks and torches. [SPEAKER_04]: That's where we get the phrase. [SPEAKER_04]: And they come for you. [SPEAKER_04]: So, you know, RFK juniors and idiot, Trump is an idiot.
[SPEAKER_04]: But there are consequences because the people who work at CDC, they're there to try to keep us healthy. [SPEAKER_04]: They're not just like the people to BLS, they're there to do their jobs. [SPEAKER_04]: Look, you and I, we both been to the DMV department of motor vehicles. [SPEAKER_04]: I don't have any DM times in our fifty some odd years. [SPEAKER_04]: The people who are at the DMV, they might not always seem like the most friendly people.
[SPEAKER_04]: I've known some people were to DMV and they're friendly and they're nice, but they may not always seem like it because they get a lot of crap and they have to deal with a lot of crazy stuff. [SPEAKER_04]: But the fact is, like virtually everybody who works in government, like virtually everybody who works in whatever job it is, you want to go in, you want to do your job, and then you won't go home.
[SPEAKER_04]: You want to, you know, listen to music, watch your shows, watch your games, and watch your kids play with your kids. [SPEAKER_04]: Hang out with your spouse, your significant other. [SPEAKER_04]: These are the things we all want to do. [SPEAKER_04]: Most people overwhelmingly. [SPEAKER_04]: First of all, most people are women who are not constantly focused on politics. [SPEAKER_04]: We are mostly focused on politics because that's one of the things that we like.
[SPEAKER_04]: But most people aren't. [SPEAKER_04]: Most people live their lives. [SPEAKER_04]: They do their things. [SPEAKER_04]: They, you know, they want to have fun and whatever they go to work to do the job and then they come home. [SPEAKER_04]: Right. [SPEAKER_04]: And that's very much the case, especially with people like the BLS and the CDC. [SPEAKER_04]: They don't need to be hassled with having to deal with the effects of RFK juniors saying, I don't think vaccine legal idea.
[SPEAKER_10]: Especially with the mRNA stuff that could potentially cure cancer. [SPEAKER_10]: Right. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, it's, it's, it's, it's maddening and it's hard for us not to curse because we are a broadcast hero. [SPEAKER_10]: I've lost three sisters and a father to cancer. [SPEAKER_04]: So yeah, very much can understand, not, you know, being pissed at, you know, the potential solution to, to, to, to, stopping cancer, like, eighty five percent of cancers or something is an mRNA vaccine.
[SPEAKER_04]: And you got this douchebag RFK junior goal and what will think their good idea? [SPEAKER_04]: I understand the anger, but it's also not something that should result in, you know, two hundred shots being sprayed at the CDC. [SPEAKER_04]: And it shouldn't have to be dealt with by the people who are in that off, because everybody's in that office now.
[SPEAKER_04]: They're going to have to deal with, especially if they've got a window anywhere in their office, they are probably worried when they go into work. [SPEAKER_10]: Yeah, that's going to be traumatic. [SPEAKER_10]: It is traumatic. [SPEAKER_04]: It is. [SPEAKER_04]: And this is not the kind of crap that anybody should have to deal with. [SPEAKER_04]: But thanks to this current regime, the Trump regime, yeah, we have to deal with crap like this now.
[SPEAKER_04]: So if you know somebody who's in that kind of situation, just remember who is to blame and who is not. [SPEAKER_04]: Kamala would not have done this. [SPEAKER_04]: No, no, no, no, no. [SPEAKER_04]: Tim walls as VP wouldn't have done this. [SPEAKER_04]: Democrats in Congress would not have done this. [SPEAKER_10]: And Tim walls wouldn't be taking vacations every five seconds either. [SPEAKER_04]: Tim walls would not have made the folks raise the water level in the river.
[SPEAKER_04]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_04]: Look, we do have more news on topic. [SPEAKER_04]: If we have some good news in the news on tap, some Taylor Swift news. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, for those of you who are Swifties, we got that. [SPEAKER_04]: We also have an Carlos Alzrock coming into the bar for the first time tonight. [SPEAKER_04]: And we'll be fun. [SPEAKER_04]: Yes, we will play with voices. [SPEAKER_04]: And yes, we will probably talk a little bit more. [SPEAKER_04]: It's because it's Carlos.
[SPEAKER_04]: Just how it goes. [SPEAKER_04]: Get yourself another drink. [SPEAKER_04]: Come on back. [SPEAKER_04]: We got more for you here. [SPEAKER_04]: It is Tuesday night. [SPEAKER_04]: Here at the politics bar. [SPEAKER_04]: Thank you very much for hanging out with Jody and me. [SPEAKER_04]: Hang on. [SPEAKER_04]: We'll be right back. [SPEAKER_11]: We'll be right back after we pay some bills at the politics bar. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, let it go. [SPEAKER_00]: Thank you.
[SPEAKER_00]: Ready, come on. [SPEAKER_12]: Shotsmith, Pearson, Jody Hamilton. [SPEAKER_12]: Shory? [SPEAKER_04]: I found all kinds of weird ways to do that. [SPEAKER_04]: I like to play with my voice. [SPEAKER_04]: What can I say? [SPEAKER_04]: I like voice work. [SPEAKER_04]: It's fun. [SPEAKER_04]: It is fun, which is great because we are going to have a voice work genius Carlos Alzroki coming into the bar this hour. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, more news on tap as well.
[SPEAKER_04]: We will of course talk about Trump's fumble bumbled fascist attempts going on in DC and the cleanup from L.A. [SPEAKER_04]: Trump dynamics. [SPEAKER_04]: We got some stories on that too. [SPEAKER_04]: We have some good entertainment news as well. [SPEAKER_04]: A little bit on Putin and Netanyahu too. [SPEAKER_04]: It's all there as part of the news on tap. [SPEAKER_04]: Which you can subscribe to for free at the politics bar dot com.
[SPEAKER_04]: Amen. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: It is it is fun putting that together. [SPEAKER_04]: I have to admit, uh, you know, on Tuesdays, when Jody is out promoting the show on all the other shows, which is fantastic, I have to do a little bit more of the back end work on that. [SPEAKER_04]: But I have to admit, I am very glad when I was listening to Steph show this morning. [SPEAKER_04]: It was hilarious just listening to all of you do the, the politics bar.
[SPEAKER_04]: It's all these people play the politics bar. [SPEAKER_04]: I'm like we've got Lonnie. [SPEAKER_04]: Thanks. [SPEAKER_04]: We've got the original. [SPEAKER_04]: We can just have him do it. [SPEAKER_04]: We should just ask him to, can he give us just the without the music, just him saying the politics boss. [SPEAKER_10]: I know he's got it. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, because then we could just put it on one of the buttons that we had here on the bar top, because that would be funny.
[SPEAKER_04]: Then you should press it. [SPEAKER_10]: Send it to Chris and Bella. [SPEAKER_04]: Send it to Chris and be like, you can have it, but don't give it to Steph, because she will sit there for five minutes. [SPEAKER_10]: Oh, it'll be in her box. [SPEAKER_10]: Constantly. [SPEAKER_04]: I realize that and look we like to make sure the politics bars everywhere. [SPEAKER_04]: I suppose in Steph's box would be another place we could put it.
[SPEAKER_04]: But look if you want to have it everywhere just tell your friends to subscribe to the politics bar. [SPEAKER_04]: Alright, I promise some good entertainment news. [SPEAKER_04]: We were right by the rumors were right Taylor Swift went on the Kelsey Brothers podcast last night. [SPEAKER_04]: They dropped a little little kind of a hint thing her new album her twelve album called the life of a show girl is going to be released.
[SPEAKER_04]: I guess more details will be on the full podcast tonight. [SPEAKER_04]: So when we get out of the bar, we'll have to go. [SPEAKER_04]: I'm sure she's already done with it and I've all got yeah I mean she's she plans everything she is one of the smartest business and smartest artists and generous I have seen any number of substantiated clips people who it's not an AI it's whatever where [SPEAKER_04]: She's out somewhere.
[SPEAKER_04]: She sees a bunch of people working that have like helped her to show or whatever and she tips them. [SPEAKER_04]: She gives to the people who work on her shows. [SPEAKER_10]: She's very generous with her with her crew. [SPEAKER_10]: She's very generous and they work their asses off. [SPEAKER_10]: So I'm glad that she's at that generous. [SPEAKER_04]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_04]: I wish every boss did that.
[SPEAKER_04]: I wish every boss respected their workers in the same way and and was that generous and was like, you know, training their people the way they should be treated. [SPEAKER_04]: So she's she is a great example for that kind of thing. [SPEAKER_04]: An example what not to do Darrell Hall and John Oates. [SPEAKER_10]: Finally, have agreed to check how many years for this to get decided. [SPEAKER_04]: I don't even know what this point.
[SPEAKER_04]: We've got a story on one of the news on tap. [SPEAKER_04]: There are attorneys confirmed that the, uh, the long term. [SPEAKER_04]: I sue you. [SPEAKER_04]: You sue me with the hell. [SPEAKER_04]: It's, it's almost as bad as these, uh, wars over house seats going on. [SPEAKER_04]: The redistricting thing. [SPEAKER_04]: except for the fact there was hall notes, which everybody knows hall notes was hall notes, but anyway, you can check that story up.
[SPEAKER_04]: There's another good story in the entertainment section. [SPEAKER_04]: Any van here, and remember the legendary red, white, and black? [SPEAKER_10]: I know exactly the guitar. [SPEAKER_04]: I had a friend who this guy, oh my god. [SPEAKER_04]: Okay, at one point in time, he had six cars and two motorcycles and he lived in an apartment. [SPEAKER_10]: I will never understand that. [SPEAKER_10]: Welcome to Los Angeles. [SPEAKER_04]: He was a, he was a gear head, whatever.
[SPEAKER_04]: You know, he was, he was always working on a car. [SPEAKER_04]: And, and one of the cars he painted with, he took the, the album cover, took the guitar and painted it just like Eddie Van Haley's legendary Frankenstein guitar. [SPEAKER_04]: So it looked, okay, it wasn't too bad. [SPEAKER_04]: I mean, he did a paint job in his garage, but then he was like, you know what, I don't like it. [SPEAKER_04]: So then he painted repaintable.
[SPEAKER_04]: like you spent all that time paying the car that way and it happens. [SPEAKER_04]: If if you have been out of spare two to three million dollars, maybe you could give some to us or maybe you could just go buy Eddie Van Halen's Frankenstein guitar. [SPEAKER_04]: It will be up at Sotheby's. [SPEAKER_04]: I believe this weekend. [SPEAKER_04]: Milwaukee Brewers. [SPEAKER_04]: they are keeping the street going. [SPEAKER_04]: Ten straight they've won.
[SPEAKER_04]: For that which is just freaking unreal. [SPEAKER_04]: That is if you're if you're big and MLB that is very very cool. [SPEAKER_04]: So you can check that out at the politics bar.com. [SPEAKER_04]: We got that in the entertainment section. [SPEAKER_04]: Something that is not I don't know if it's entertaining or not. [SPEAKER_04]: To watch Trump be owned by Putin. [SPEAKER_04]: I don't know what you mean. [SPEAKER_04]: It's almost sad. [SPEAKER_04]: It's almost embarrassing.
[SPEAKER_10]: It's embarrassing. [SPEAKER_10]: It's embarrassing. [SPEAKER_04]: It's not just me that the thing's embarrassing. [SPEAKER_10]: No. [SPEAKER_10]: I mean, it's embarrassing that the, well, first off, the minute the man lands in Alaska, he should be arrested. [SPEAKER_04]: Totally. [SPEAKER_04]: Absolutely. [SPEAKER_04]: Yes. [SPEAKER_04]: Yes. [SPEAKER_04]: Hundred percent. [SPEAKER_04]: But, but more than that.
[SPEAKER_04]: So now Trump is softening expectations for what can be expected for the, from the, the Putin Trump summit in Russia. [SPEAKER_04]: which we noticed we noted it yesterday that Trump said he was supposed to say that they're there there's some it was going to be in Alaska and he said Russia he said it twice it is pressure yesterday. [SPEAKER_04]: I noticed after we pointed it out last night I started to see this morning other people starting to point it out as well.
[SPEAKER_04]: And I laughed, I'm going, I'm glad that you all finally paid attention, but you could have paid attention when we did yesterday. [SPEAKER_10]: It's just he's, and then you heard the clip of him talking about medians. [SPEAKER_04]: That was so bizarre. [SPEAKER_04]: I didn't even, I, I thought about pulling that, but I don't even know what the hell he was talking about.
[SPEAKER_04]: For those of you who missed it, he talked about like some kind of metal thing falling down and he calls it a median. [SPEAKER_04]: It was very, very, [SPEAKER_10]: Bob Cesca thinks he was talking about guardrails, which, of course, we don't have any in the government anymore. [SPEAKER_10]: But he thinks he was talking about guardrails, because I guess when he was talking, he was kind of making it look like, because a median is something in the middle of a road.
[SPEAKER_04]: Right, exactly. [SPEAKER_04]: And yes, you sometimes have guardians, but he was saying something about them falling down. [SPEAKER_04]: Like falling down would assume that it is something taller that falls down. [SPEAKER_04]: That's right. [SPEAKER_03]: That's right. [SPEAKER_04]: I don't I don't he's not well. [SPEAKER_04]: It's it's the kind of stuff that at the very least you would look at and say, okay, Grant, be come on back.
[SPEAKER_04]: You know, let's let's go get you your your nilla way first and you can sit down and you know sit in the corner and not have some courage right exactly. [SPEAKER_04]: So yeah, and yet he's he's going into this this meeting with Vladimir Putin former KGB officer who look Putin himself is still old, but I would bet any money that he's still sharper than Donnie. [SPEAKER_10]: Of course he is. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, so.
[SPEAKER_04]: Any who speaking of old dimwits, BB net and yahu's plans for expanded tax in the Gaza pretty much have made people pissed off all over his people there tens of thousands of people who are protesting in Israel. [SPEAKER_04]: There are protests in other there was there's protests here in the US. [SPEAKER_04]: There's protests in the UK and in Europe and [SPEAKER_04]: A lot of people are pissed. [SPEAKER_04]: Here's the thing.
[SPEAKER_04]: More than a hundred and forty five nations have now joined the call for the international recognition of Palestine as an independent nation state. [SPEAKER_04]: It's going to happen. [SPEAKER_10]: That took forever to do, but it's going to happen. [SPEAKER_04]: It's going to happen. [SPEAKER_04]: And I'm very glad that it's going to happen because you know what? [SPEAKER_04]: I'm sorry. [SPEAKER_04]: It needs to happen at this point.
[SPEAKER_04]: There needs to be a two state solution. [SPEAKER_04]: And it needs to be Palestine and Israel not killing each other. [SPEAKER_04]: There are plenty of good Palestinians and good Israelis who can not kill each other. [SPEAKER_04]: They're how I know some of them. [SPEAKER_04]: So yeah, there are plenty of great people on both sides that their governments right now suck, but then our government sucks too.
[SPEAKER_04]: You know, we don't know a whole lot of space to talk about with the sucking government because our government sucks. [SPEAKER_04]: Hey, look who just came into the bar. [SPEAKER_04]: The one the only Carlos Alzrocky is in the bar. [SPEAKER_04]: Welcome, by the way, to the politics. [SPEAKER_04]: I'm in the world. [SPEAKER_04]: I'll take a LaFroix ten on the rocks, please.
[SPEAKER_04]: Okay. [SPEAKER_04]: The best thing about this bar is we can give you anything because it's a virtual bar. [SPEAKER_04]: So we have everything available to us. [SPEAKER_04]: No, hang on. [SPEAKER_04]: I love it. [SPEAKER_04]: I know it's the best. [SPEAKER_04]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_04]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_04]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_04]: How you been? [SPEAKER_04]: What have you been up to?
[SPEAKER_07]: I've been up to doing some voice of a word, kids, summer, trips, first day of school tomorrow, school drop off, shuttle driver. [SPEAKER_07]: Good visiting the memory floor three days a week to play. [SPEAKER_07]: Yatsi with my mom. [SPEAKER_04]: Okay. [SPEAKER_04]: And doing some cons. [SPEAKER_04]: Cool. [SPEAKER_04]: Cool. [SPEAKER_04]: You're wrong. [SPEAKER_04]: By the way, does not have a nuclear code, so I'm guessing.
[SPEAKER_04]: No, unlike unlike Donnie who, I don't know if you heard that that he said that the summit with Putin is going to be in Russia twice yesterday. [SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, he said it. [SPEAKER_07]: Well, he can see Russia from the last time, right? [SPEAKER_07]: Right. [SPEAKER_07]: That's a Sarah Palin. [SPEAKER_07]: That's a great Sarah Palin. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Oh, my God. [SPEAKER_04]: Donnie definitely has been so dottering.
[SPEAKER_04]: He's he's got he's got some issues and he should not be there. [SPEAKER_07]: would it be ironic if he kind of had to be hospitalized there and he got stuck and died in the ice. [SPEAKER_04]: Are you talking about like in ice ice detention? [SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, it's just ice on ice. [SPEAKER_04]: They accidentally, they accidentally put him in with all the captured people and he's like, what am I doing in here with these people? [SPEAKER_06]: I want to go pedipolar bear.
[SPEAKER_06]: I saw grizzly man. [SPEAKER_06]: I could duck to the grizzlies. [SPEAKER_04]: See, you do voice works so much better. [SPEAKER_04]: I cannot, I can do some voices, but I, you know, I mean, you know, when it comes to voice work, you are the master, seriously. [SPEAKER_04]: I love that. [SPEAKER_04]: And of course, Rocco, I mean, one of yours, the Taco Bell dog, one of yours. [SPEAKER_04]: I mean, yeah, Rocco right behind you. [SPEAKER_07]: I'm behind you.
[SPEAKER_07]: I'm a little blanket for when I really record. [SPEAKER_07]: for my cartoons and a little blanket plays in the play there. [SPEAKER_07]: Bye, Blanket. [SPEAKER_07]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_07]: You know, Stan, I'm comedy, led the voice over work, which led to eventually meeting Stephanie Miller and doing her sketch show on UPN. [SPEAKER_07]: And then she was doing political radio, KBC. [SPEAKER_07]: And that's how I meet Jody. [SPEAKER_07]: And here we are.
[SPEAKER_04]: You and I met down in Fort Lauderdale when it was, it was the sexually liberal tour. [SPEAKER_04]: God, this was two times eleven. [SPEAKER_04]: I think it was. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: And I show for you and John Fiegel said, back to the hotel. [SPEAKER_04]: where we hung out with Jackie for a little bit. [SPEAKER_04]: I mean, it was fun. [SPEAKER_07]: It was a good time. [SPEAKER_07]: It was a good time. [SPEAKER_07]: I'm pretty kids.
[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Oh, God. [SPEAKER_04]: It's okay. [SPEAKER_04]: So how old are your kids now? [SPEAKER_07]: Fourteen and eleven were one off to high school and me. [SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, the one's going to preschool up middle school. [SPEAKER_07]: Wow. [SPEAKER_07]: Wow. [SPEAKER_10]: So Riley's the oldest. [SPEAKER_10]: She's the. [SPEAKER_10]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_10]: So I'm not sure when she was a baby. [SPEAKER_10]: She's a voice actor.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_07]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_07]: She's doing to voice over to Star Trek prodigy on Netflix now and some other things, big city greens, a couple of things. [SPEAKER_07]: And so nobody she is. [SPEAKER_07]: more of just a regular student high school student volleyball choir and, you know, she didn't turn it into her career, but she's obviously very gifted and, and so it's Austin Austin's very creative. [SPEAKER_07]: They, but they're in to being kids, which is good.
[SPEAKER_04]: It's good. [SPEAKER_07]: It's healthy. [SPEAKER_04]: That's better. [SPEAKER_04]: Awesome. [SPEAKER_04]: Although you mentioned you mentioned volleyball and I am a huge Nebraska Husker volleyball. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Ranked number one preseason baby. [SPEAKER_07]: Preseason Penn State won last year, right? [SPEAKER_04]: I think yeah, we were the final four, I think, and I think they knocked us out of here.
[SPEAKER_07]: That's yeah, ninety three thousand people filled up, uh, ninety-two thousand. [SPEAKER_07]: For Husker Stadium or Wetterland, and Nebraska. [SPEAKER_07]: You watch women's volleyball. [SPEAKER_04]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_04]: That's my old office, by the way. [SPEAKER_04]: I kid you not literally Memorial Stadium in Nebraska. [SPEAKER_04]: Oh, when I was the the executive producer of the Husker Sports Radio Network, that was my office.
[SPEAKER_07]: Then we got to talk about the ethical man Tom Osborne who looked the other way when Lawrence Phillips drags his girlfriend down the stairs like you still going to play in the big game because he's mostly ethically. [SPEAKER_04]: You know, it is it is relatively speaking in college sports because there is ain't nobody in college sports that is clean. [SPEAKER_04]: That's for damn sure.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: You know, relatively speaking Tom Osborne is is one of the cleanest by comparison. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: By. [SPEAKER_04]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_04]: Well, that's all relative. [SPEAKER_04]: And when we're comparing anything to the Trump regime, good God. [SPEAKER_07]: That's God. [SPEAKER_07]: I was at the ice house the other night. [SPEAKER_07]: I was at the other night. [SPEAKER_04]: I like that place.
[SPEAKER_04]: We can't because we're on the air in live, but look, we're gonna come back. [SPEAKER_04]: We will talk about a couple things in the break and then we will come back and whatever you were gonna say, we'll see. [SPEAKER_07]: Let's sit in the PG version. [SPEAKER_04]: We got Carlos as Rocky here in the bar with us tonight. [SPEAKER_04]: It is the politics bar on a Tuesday night.
[SPEAKER_04]: You've got the one the only Jody Hamilton you got me and you got the fantastic Carlos house rock freshen up your drink and you know if you got to use facilities, you know what to do we end to please you and two please come right back We'll be right back after we'd pay some bills at the politics bar. [SPEAKER_07]: I would like to be at that bar. [SPEAKER_07]: That's very nice [SPEAKER_04]: It is Tuesday night here at the politics bar. [SPEAKER_04]: How you doing?
[SPEAKER_04]: Hopefully you are having a very good evening. [SPEAKER_04]: We're trying to make it better because we've got Carlos Alzraki in the house. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: He's brought all the voices and himself, which is fantastic as well. [SPEAKER_04]: Look if you miss any of the show you can always subscribe on your favorite podcast player. [SPEAKER_04]: Your phone is in your hand anyway. [SPEAKER_04]: Look, just go to your podcast player.
[SPEAKER_04]: Just type in the politics bar. [SPEAKER_04]: You'll find this word there. [SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, I just got out of the restroom where Lindsey Graham was crying on the stall. [SPEAKER_07]: Just complaining that they won't let me in eyes. [SPEAKER_04]: You realize what Lindsey Graham's favorite thing. [SPEAKER_04]: Favorite athletic related thing is to do, right? [SPEAKER_04]: Playing for on the road. [SPEAKER_04]: He likes to rack balls. [SPEAKER_04]: Exactly.
[SPEAKER_04]: He wants to come. [SPEAKER_04]: Also, he likes to go golfing with Trump. [SPEAKER_04]: Trump says that Lindsey Graham is his favorite ball washer. [SPEAKER_04]: So yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: We're talking a little sports in the break. [SPEAKER_04]: Your Giants are not exactly doing the greatest. [SPEAKER_04]: My national. [SPEAKER_04]: I think my national's beat your Giants the other day. [SPEAKER_04]: Two out of three.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, which was a shock for me since the the nationals are doing well. [SPEAKER_07]: Jody's team Dodgers is she that she's just sitting here smiling with drinking the ring chasers man Dave Roberts could take a month off and I I can go in the dugout and they'd have the same record. [SPEAKER_07]: I just go, put the good guy in. [SPEAKER_07]: Take the bad guy out, put the better guy in. [SPEAKER_07]: Put that all star in.
[SPEAKER_04]: So you're saying, see, you're saying, Dave Roberts, the manager of the, the Dodgers. [SPEAKER_07]: Lucky is guy in the league. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, very, very good job. [SPEAKER_04]: Possibly only slightly related to, um, uh, Taylor's just boyfriend. [SPEAKER_04]: That's kind of my thought. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, Kelsey. [SPEAKER_04]: Well, you saw she's got a new album coming on. [SPEAKER_04]: She went, she went on the Kelsey Brothers podcast.
[SPEAKER_04]: to put out her out, which I'm like, that's just gotta be. [SPEAKER_04]: If you didn't know that Taylor Swift was, I felt she's thirty five. [SPEAKER_04]: She's not thirty four. [SPEAKER_04]: If you didn't know that she was thirty five and she can be president now. [SPEAKER_04]: Oh God, that would be great. [SPEAKER_04]: President Taylor Swift.
[SPEAKER_04]: But if you didn't know that that she was her age and you just said, oh my God, so there's this pop princess and she went on her, her boyfriend's show. [SPEAKER_04]: He has a little podcast and he's like big in the football team. [SPEAKER_04]: You would be thinking that they're the same ages as your high school age kid Carlos. [SPEAKER_07]: But that's the audience he's playing to. [SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, she's very young at heart. [SPEAKER_07]: You're right.
[SPEAKER_07]: She's very she knows how to capture that in a bottle at thirty five and I love it, you know, as opposed to going on Joe Rogan or the Greg Gutfield show. [SPEAKER_07]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_07]: Good. [SPEAKER_07]: Good on her. [SPEAKER_07]: And like Travis Kelsey's wife have a very successful or still does have that nice. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, she doesn't know. [SPEAKER_04]: She's wife has has a good podcast over on serious sex. [SPEAKER_10]: And then the top ten of podcasts doesn't know.
[SPEAKER_04]: I like the Kelsey's. [SPEAKER_10]: Me too. [SPEAKER_04]: They they seem to be just generally good folks as far as that goes. [SPEAKER_04]: Mama Kelsey seems to have her feet on the ground. [SPEAKER_04]: It seems to be, you know, [SPEAKER_04]: I don't have any, I don't have anything against. [SPEAKER_04]: Some people, they want to know everything. [SPEAKER_04]: I would just like Taylor and Travis to be happy, you know?
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, it's just, I mean, they seem to be good folks, they seem to be willing to help people out. [SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, you know, it's standing up to the king, you know? [SPEAKER_04]: Oh, God. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: So yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: So talking about that. [SPEAKER_04]: Which, which version of standing up to the king? [SPEAKER_04]: Do you want to hear about more Carlos?
[SPEAKER_04]: The the folk standing up to Trump with the from DC and LA with the Posse Comitatist stuff, or maybe the redistricting wars and people standing up to that jackass habit because my God. [SPEAKER_07]: I do like to redistricting more as you know because he's he's trying to get more seats with democrats just to do ten more do this not yet you do you do do you hear that we actually we actually have that dumb ass. [SPEAKER_04]: He was he was on with Jake. [SPEAKER_04]: Tapper last night.
[SPEAKER_04]: Tapper Tapper. [SPEAKER_04]: He was talking about well here let me get a Texas moron talk. [SPEAKER_05]: Well, to be clear, listen, all those big blue states, they've already gerrymandered.
[SPEAKER_07]: hold, you have to be if you're in a wheelchair and you're still that evil. [SPEAKER_09]: I know. [SPEAKER_07]: You have some grace after something like that happened in your life.
[SPEAKER_07]: Isn't there an angel that comes to you and go, we're sorry this happened to you, but you can live your life as a calm, beautiful, kind soul. [SPEAKER_07]: No, I'm still going to be me. [SPEAKER_04]: All right, I've, you know, my, my wife is handicapped. [SPEAKER_04]: I've met some people who are disabled and some are very nice, but some people, whether they are disabled or whether they are whatever their thing is.
[SPEAKER_04]: Some people are just A holes in work, but is one of them. [SPEAKER_04]: And he's also a moron because of the fact that so we've got a piece that's in the news on tap today, where you can actually check out the math. [SPEAKER_04]: yourself. [SPEAKER_04]: No joke. [SPEAKER_04]: It's called more states on both sides consider rejoining the redistricting war launched by Trump counting the possibilities by the numbers.
[SPEAKER_04]: You can add them up if if Democrats like out in California, like in New York, like in Illinois, if Democrats go whole hog and they pick up every seat that they can and Republicans in Florida and Ohio and Texas, they go whole hog and they pick up all the seats they can. [SPEAKER_04]: but I was telling Joe to use in the first hour. [SPEAKER_04]: I did the math. [SPEAKER_04]: You wanna how many seats each side picks up Carlos? [SPEAKER_04]: Each side picks up the exact same number.
[SPEAKER_04]: It ends up with a net zero gain. [SPEAKER_04]: Nobody gains. [SPEAKER_04]: So if you know this and you know that Greg Abbott has to have people who can add two and two and get four around him. [SPEAKER_04]: And they're telling him this. [SPEAKER_04]: He's doing this to try to be the biggest jerk so then he can go well. [SPEAKER_04]: No, I'm bigger and tougher. [SPEAKER_04]: No, you're not. [SPEAKER_04]: We all can do math, Jack.
[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, I think they're counting on the Democrats not fighting until the end, which is what we are want to do. [SPEAKER_07]: But this time seems different. [SPEAKER_07]: It doesn't get Gavin Newsom's in the Pritzkers in New York. [SPEAKER_07]: And there is people like Jasmine Crocket that are like, no, we're ready for this. [SPEAKER_07]: We're going to go toe to toe and make you drag it all the way out till we get to that even number of people.
[SPEAKER_07]: And you'll then be able to convince the people that it was a waste of time. [SPEAKER_07]: And they're willing to drag it out on their side because it avoids them talking about the Epstein files. [SPEAKER_07]: But that's a two. [SPEAKER_07]: I think we're more dog on the bone this year with redistricting and with Epstein. [SPEAKER_07]: We're not let it get letting go of either. [SPEAKER_07]: And that's a good sign. [SPEAKER_10]: And your favorite Westmore might do it too.
[SPEAKER_07]: I'm waiting for West West has come on and made some videos where he's like because of course Trump denied him FEMA aid after the flooding that they had. [SPEAKER_07]: I think West is going to jump into the fray and that's important. [SPEAKER_04]: you know, you get a little bit more coverage from him because he's just up the road on the Maryland side of the of the DC area.
[SPEAKER_04]: And you know, we have been here in a lot more of West kind of, you know, banging the stick around the garbage can as it were trying to get there attention. [SPEAKER_04]: And I'm glad he is. [SPEAKER_04]: But this one came out today. [SPEAKER_04]: I was so happy. [SPEAKER_04]: But I was online literally when this dropped, I was one of the first people to repost it over on Blue Sky. [SPEAKER_04]: So Zornman Tammy has a new ad out today.
[SPEAKER_04]: Okay, I want to play it because he's hitting Cuomo in multiple different directions. [SPEAKER_04]: This is, this is hilarious. [SPEAKER_04]: Here, let's play it. [SPEAKER_08]: Four years ago, Andrew Cuomo resigned in disgrace, and you probably know why. [SPEAKER_08]: Governor's Office kept the nursing home death data secret. [SPEAKER_10]: Cuomo aggressively grote and aide inappropriately touched a female state trooper. [SPEAKER_08]: Use of state resources or COVID-nineteen memoir.
[SPEAKER_08]: Less well-known is what he spent the last four years doing, besides getting trounced in the Democratic climate. [SPEAKER_08]: In twenty-twenty-two Cuomo started innovation strategies LLC to represent individuals and corporations in a variety of matters. [SPEAKER_08]: Definitely not vague. [SPEAKER_08]: Last year, it raked in more than half a million dollars. [SPEAKER_08]: To pay for Cuomo services, he refuses to say, but what journalists have been able to piece together is trouble.
[SPEAKER_08]: In April, Bloomberg revealed that Cuomo advised a cryptocurrency exchange based in the safe shelves as it faced federal investigations. [SPEAKER_08]: Then in May, political reported that Cuomo failed to disclose two-point-six million dollars in stock options to the New York City Conference of Interests. [SPEAKER_08]: His excuse, the stocks were technically owned by innovation strategies, LLC, of which he's the sole purpose.
[SPEAKER_08]: Finally, in June, the New York Times uncovered that Cuomo had worked with his longtime friend Andrew Farkus on a luxury marina project in Puerto Rico. [SPEAKER_08]: Farkus' previous partner on luxury marina's in the Caribbean? [SPEAKER_08]: Jeffrey Epstein. [SPEAKER_08]: That's the thing about Andrew Cole. [SPEAKER_08]: Once you think you found out about all of his scandals, you find out about another. [SPEAKER_08]: And then another, and then probably another.
[SPEAKER_08]: But if my friend, the disgraced former governor of the state of New York, feels that's unfair. [SPEAKER_08]: How do you think release your client list? [SPEAKER_07]: Four years ago, Andrew. [SPEAKER_07]: That's good. [SPEAKER_07]: It's a good ad. [SPEAKER_07]: That's a love it. [SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, and I love that it's him. [SPEAKER_07]: It's not spokesperson. [SPEAKER_07]: It's him. [SPEAKER_07]: He's very eloquent. [SPEAKER_07]: He's very educated.
[SPEAKER_07]: I think he's going to win. [SPEAKER_07]: I think something nefarious happens like it doesn't rush. [SPEAKER_07]: Oh, second story window, which is to the point where, which is where we're getting now and somebody pointed out like we're ignoring the fact that two Minnesota legislators got shot and killed and that's just not even a story. [SPEAKER_07]: It was a story for a few days, but yeah, I mean, that is, it is.
[SPEAKER_07]: When you talk about what's his name, big balls, or whatever, getting old, car jacked and blood blown up under his hair as a mess. [SPEAKER_07]: Excuse me. [SPEAKER_07]: Why didn't you send the state troopers to Minnesota? [SPEAKER_07]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Right. [SPEAKER_07]: After this happened. [SPEAKER_04]: Of course, because they were Democrats, and we all know that's why Trump didn't send him. [SPEAKER_04]: We all know that's why Trump didn't send anybody there.
[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, but I love it's mom Donnie is that Mike pronounced. [SPEAKER_04]: Yes, that's correct. [SPEAKER_04]: I love it. [SPEAKER_07]: Mom Donnie's doing in New York. [SPEAKER_07]: I love that he seems to be grassroots and people are supporting him. [SPEAKER_07]: And even Joe Walsh, the former Republican who's he goes, listen, listen, I'm a new Democrat. [SPEAKER_07]: And y'all are just getting way too picky. [SPEAKER_07]: Cory Booker.
[SPEAKER_04]: I'm one of the people who has been, you know, dog and Cory for a long time and saying, dude, I know you can get angry and he doesn't feel like he can. [SPEAKER_04]: But he actually was two weeks ago. [SPEAKER_04]: Two weeks ago yesterday, I think it was was when he was on the floor in the Senate and just raise and hell about it. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, and I know that. [SPEAKER_04]: Oh, God, Claire McCaskell went on MSNBC and was like, Oh, I can't believe the Cory was doing that.
[SPEAKER_04]: That was said. [SPEAKER_04]: It's like, no, no, no. [SPEAKER_04]: It was actually very appropriate because Democrats don't have a whole lot of power in the Senate or the House right now. [SPEAKER_04]: There's not a whole lot they can do.
[SPEAKER_04]: But what he could do [SPEAKER_04]: was shake people up with a big huge thing pissing off some of his own fellow democratic senators and then doing the thing that I think you should have done originally which is not voting for any more of Trump's nominees which I'm like great so I'm with you that I think Corey could do more and I have I have said such but [SPEAKER_04]: But, but I also am glad that he's doing what he could that the now he's like, you know what we're done.
[SPEAKER_04]: And I think that's that's the kind of thing that you're seeing Democrats all over the place at the local level at the state level. [SPEAKER_04]: You're seeing go like mom Danny and they're saying enough. [SPEAKER_04]: I have had enough enough enough enough enough enough enough enough enough enough enough enough enough enough enough enough enough enough enough enough enough.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, and I'm glad that's that's what people who vote for Democrats, whether the Democrats independent or non Trump Republicans, that's what we want. [SPEAKER_07]: Our our our our elected leaders to stand up and say we've had it with this crap big tent and I kind of like when we've discussed this on to any Miller regarding people to change or even not to some extent.
[SPEAKER_07]: Gavin Newsom that there's a little bit of push back on sort of super left agenda that if you don't agree to this, we won't vote for your support. [SPEAKER_07]: Well, Pete Buttigieg doesn't care. [SPEAKER_07]: I want to I want to have nuanced conversation. [SPEAKER_07]: I want to see what's fair regarding these issues. [SPEAKER_07]: Not something that's strictly agenda based. [SPEAKER_07]: And when you protest vote after a primary
[SPEAKER_07]: you get project twenty twenty five exactly the democrat party democratic party has to drill into do not vote for the least you have to vote for the best chance to stop project twenty twenty after the primary before the primary vote Peter Pan absolutely everything that you're pro right once we've established who's the nominee is they are mathematically the best chance to stop what's going on now so you go all in as you say you say the high it's pragmatism is not complicity
[SPEAKER_07]: It's that's what they need to draw home. [SPEAKER_07]: So if you don't like Moundani, because you don't like how he's responding to Israel or whatever, suck it up, suck it up because Trump is worse. [SPEAKER_07]: Trump is giving that in Yahoo, as you said, the go ahead to just like, can you put a goal curse in there for me? [SPEAKER_04]: You vote with your heart in the primary. [SPEAKER_04]: Go rock your head in the general. [SPEAKER_04]: Absolutely. [SPEAKER_04]: Absolutely.
[SPEAKER_04]: Randy used to say that all the time. [SPEAKER_04]: And Randy Rhodes was right about that. [SPEAKER_04]: And that's exactly it. [SPEAKER_04]: But look, we've talked about this kind of thing before. [SPEAKER_04]: Joe, you and I, especially, that there's some things that Newsom has done that we're not exactly thrilled with.
[SPEAKER_04]: Sure. [SPEAKER_04]: But if the choice was Gavin Newsom or derelisum, Gavin Newsom or Vance or Vance, yeah, hundred percent in a hot minute I would be voting for Newsom. [SPEAKER_07]: I remember this, David Aldrich's former NBA contributor, whatever on Twitter.
[SPEAKER_07]: And when Kamlo was running and I was suggesting Westmore, he wrote back to me and said, do you know that if you nominated [SPEAKER_07]: Westmore over comma Harris how many black women wouldn't vote for him and I'm like that's the freaking problem Everybody has a demand it's like that that you cannot do that I do have to put you have to win you love this your sports guy her medwards you play to win the game you play you play you win the game [SPEAKER_04]: I'm sorry.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, we all have to do that. [SPEAKER_04]: That is we have to to understand where we're at politically and where we're politically isn't necessarily maybe where we wanted to be none of us asked me or we would we would rather most of us on our side of the eye. [SPEAKER_04]: We would rather be discussing policies. [SPEAKER_04]: We would rather be discussing the nuances of these things. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, but that's not where we're at right now.
[SPEAKER_04]: We are at we have to kick their ass. [SPEAKER_04]: We're at the bar. [SPEAKER_04]: We are the bar. [SPEAKER_04]: We are the politics bar. [SPEAKER_04]: We've got the water only Carlisals Rocky hanging out with Jody and me hanging out with you. [SPEAKER_04]: Thank you by the way for coming to the bar. [SPEAKER_04]: Remember you can always join us on any of our social media channels. [SPEAKER_04]: Blue sky threads, Instagram, Facebook, Substack or Twitter.
[SPEAKER_04]: We are there at the politics bar. [SPEAKER_04]: All right. [SPEAKER_04]: We got one more round you'll hang around until the last call is done. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: They're with it. [SPEAKER_04]: We love it as well. [SPEAKER_04]: Get yourself a refresh drink. [SPEAKER_04]: And as we said before, if you waited a little earlier now, you need to use the facilities. [SPEAKER_04]: You know where they are. [SPEAKER_04]: Down the hall to left and right.
[SPEAKER_04]: I said it before. [SPEAKER_04]: We aim to please you aim to please here at the politics bar. [SPEAKER_11]: We'll be right back after we pay some bills at the politics bar. [SPEAKER_04]: Last call at the politics bar. [SPEAKER_04]: We're attacking anybody here at politics bar. [SPEAKER_04]: We don't throw chairs because chairs are expensive at the bar. [SPEAKER_04]: So look, please do not throw chairs.
[SPEAKER_04]: But you can throw yourself into the show at any point in time, just by subscribing in your favorite podcast player, or you can listen on some of our great radio affiliates like [SPEAKER_04]: America one radio in Atlanta, A. M. nine, fifty Minneapolis, Saint Paul W. C. B. D. A. M. A. twenty the detour talk in Tennessee or progressive voices radio worldwide wherever you happen to be [SPEAKER_04]: All right, it is a Tuesday night.
[SPEAKER_04]: We've got Carlos in the bar, Jody and I are hanging out. [SPEAKER_04]: We're talking about Gavin Newsome and P.D. [SPEAKER_04]: Moody Judge who are not perfect, but they are pretty good on a lot of things. [SPEAKER_04]: My issue is that they are, I think they're not as strong on trans issues because I got a lot of, it's one of the things Carlos, you know, I have a lot of LGBTQ friends.
[SPEAKER_04]: They have been the kinds of people who have been there for me when other people have not. [SPEAKER_04]: Sure. [SPEAKER_04]: And trans people are, and that's some great trans people. [SPEAKER_04]: I have a couple of people. [SPEAKER_10]: I think we can get our own transgender from Donald. [SPEAKER_10]: that, Jody, what do you mean? [SPEAKER_10]: He literally said the other day. [SPEAKER_10]: Everybody wants to be transgender and we're all going to get a transgender.
[SPEAKER_10]: It's like, so we all get one. [SPEAKER_04]: Wait a minute, we all get, you're now a siding cool transgender people. [SPEAKER_04]: Can I pick which cool trends? [SPEAKER_10]: Oh, I'm going to see one of my friends on the seven teens before I'm in the fantastics. [SPEAKER_10]: Who is it? [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, Parker Maloisk. [SPEAKER_04]: I like, we had her in the bar, too. [SPEAKER_04]: But my friend Michael.
[SPEAKER_04]: My whole thing is just the fact that, you know, transgender people are people and it's to be it reminds me of of blazing saddles. [SPEAKER_04]: I know you know this reference car lost. [SPEAKER_04]: You remember when when they're they're getting everybody together and then some of the people are like, well, we don't want the Irish or the blacks. [SPEAKER_04]: And the other guy is like, ah, ah, everybody means everybody. [SPEAKER_04]: And they're like, okay, fine, everybody.
[SPEAKER_04]: And to me, that's what it means. [SPEAKER_04]: Everybody. [SPEAKER_04]: On our side, we're picking the only people that we don't accept on our side are the intolerant maggots. [SPEAKER_04]: If you're an intolerant maggot, I'm sorry, you know, but you can be, you can be intolerant. [SPEAKER_04]: You can figure that one out. [SPEAKER_10]: The thing with the trans community as far as young trans girls in sports or trans women that are in college or trans women that are adults.
[SPEAKER_10]: a lot of people don't understand what they're going through and they're they're very confused with the hormones that they have to take and that does diminish their muscle capacity because their their testosterone is being [SPEAKER_10]: pushed way, way, way, way down. [SPEAKER_10]: And so the fact that the only problem people seem to be having is with trans girls and women and not trans men is where my brain goes, they're in the nafighters that are trans men.
[SPEAKER_10]: Nobody has a problem with that. [SPEAKER_07]: Right. [SPEAKER_07]: Right. [SPEAKER_07]: Right. [SPEAKER_07]: No, they do. [SPEAKER_07]: There's been Joe Rogan is brought that up. [SPEAKER_07]: To me, it comes down to a question of fairness. [SPEAKER_07]: If a certain swimmer as a male has a time of, let's say, fifty two point seven in the hundred meter butterfly, then after transformation goes through loses some titsawstrom, but their time goes down to fifty one something.
[SPEAKER_07]: That fifty one fifty two something would place that person in a category that's outside of the state to championships but now all of a sudden they get into the state championships and they say well it only you got fifth place and spent a fourth place but no that affects other swimmers is where so [SPEAKER_07]: Serena Williams said, if I played the seven hundred ranked male tennis player, I would lose six zero, six zero.
[SPEAKER_07]: Hypothetically, if some of a man was ranked seven hundred, they could go through the changes, lose some muscle mass, it pretty much clean up in the female division of tennis. [SPEAKER_07]: And a hypothetical thing. [SPEAKER_07]: But I want to talk about Ferguson. [SPEAKER_07]: Two arguments I always hear, which I love and I agree with. [SPEAKER_07]: Sure. [SPEAKER_07]: You're saying that one argument is, would somebody go through all these changes this could put peat and sports?
[SPEAKER_07]: No. [SPEAKER_07]: So you're making an argument against you wanting to compete in that sport. [SPEAKER_07]: The second argument, which I also agree with, which I hate the military is like, you're saying a trans person, a trans man who transitions into a female can't go into combat with other males. [SPEAKER_07]: You're saying they're too weak. [SPEAKER_07]: No, I agree with you. [SPEAKER_07]: They are strong enough to compete with males.
[SPEAKER_07]: So if that's the truth, then continue to compete with males in a sport. [SPEAKER_07]: You're saying to me that I'm strong enough to serve and combat with males. [SPEAKER_07]: So then you're also strong enough to compete with males in that sport. [SPEAKER_07]: That's all we're saying. [SPEAKER_07]: It's about fairness. [SPEAKER_07]: I don't care about all the other stuff, bathrooms and this and that. [SPEAKER_07]: I care about fairness. [SPEAKER_04]: Right.
[SPEAKER_04]: There's some argument that my biggest thought is about rights. [SPEAKER_04]: It's about the fact that [SPEAKER_04]: Any time that we leave openings like that for the right, they use those openings to attack the people that need to be protected, need to have us on their side.
[SPEAKER_10]: The big problem is people like in Texas and other states now that are trying to stop parents from allowing their children to transition before puberty, which is the best time because once you stop puberty, [SPEAKER_10]: from happening, then you're on the same playing field as somebody that was born that sex. [SPEAKER_10]: So you put puberty blockers on boys or girls who want to transition. [SPEAKER_10]: The girls that were born female are not going to have the estrogen levels.
[SPEAKER_10]: because they're going to now get more testosterone. [SPEAKER_10]: And the boys that were born male are going to be blocked on their testosterone like every other because until you hit puberty, we're basically the same. [SPEAKER_10]: Sure. [SPEAKER_07]: Women tend to go faster, especially in my family. [SPEAKER_10]: But I mean, basically we're the same. [SPEAKER_10]: We can compete against boys before puberty, just like girls, I mean, it's just the same.
[SPEAKER_10]: So once you are denying parents the [SPEAKER_10]: way to help their children. [SPEAKER_10]: And by the way, you can always stop taking the hormones and you go back to your old sex. [SPEAKER_10]: It's not like they're doing gender reassignment surgery at nine years old. [SPEAKER_10]: They're not doing that. [SPEAKER_10]: You can't do that. [SPEAKER_10]: No shrink on the planet would allow that. [SPEAKER_04]: It's a medical, it's a medical decision that parents are responsible.
[SPEAKER_07]: with his son Carter went through that I have a neighbor going through the same thing their children were doing it in high school or before and you go through counseling you go through a psychologist together. [SPEAKER_07]: It's their decision. [SPEAKER_04]: I love all that. [SPEAKER_04]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_04]: Parker Meloy was telling us. [SPEAKER_07]: My only issue is fairness because it does affect other people.
[SPEAKER_04]: But I also look at it in terms of saying with all of the different ways that we have to cheat in competitive sports and cheat other things these days to me it is not if you're saying that it takes all of like like you said Carlos you said that nobody would go through all of that just to compete in a sport for I think you're a hundred percent right I think that's true nobody would do that [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_04]: In the same way, there's no need for us to go through all of the regular rule, legally, that it's taking so many of these state legislatures and that some of the Republicans and Congress have been trying to go through for so few people for so few people. [SPEAKER_07]: But you're saying it's so few people, those so few people affect more people. [SPEAKER_07]: But that's where we lose. [SPEAKER_04]: But that's where we get a lot.
[SPEAKER_04]: That's not, that's not for, that's not for your federal government or for your state government. [SPEAKER_07]: That's what people to change is saying. [SPEAKER_07]: It's like leave it up to the local boards whether or not they want to do it. [SPEAKER_07]: I agree. [SPEAKER_07]: It's not up to the federal government. [SPEAKER_07]: But again, what are we saying about what's the importance of competing in sports? [SPEAKER_07]: Is it to place higher?
[SPEAKER_07]: For example, if the Penn State swimmer were to compete against men, she still gets this swim. [SPEAKER_07]: She still gets to get her best time. [SPEAKER_07]: But she's not placing all of a sudden fifth and state. [SPEAKER_07]: She's placing forty seven. [SPEAKER_07]: So you're not denying swimming. [SPEAKER_07]: You're not denying competing. [SPEAKER_07]: You're just denying the ability to do better than you would in another level. [SPEAKER_07]: So that's what I'm saying.
[SPEAKER_07]: You still get to compete. [SPEAKER_07]: You still get to compete in this sport. [SPEAKER_07]: We're not taking that away. [SPEAKER_04]: Right, and I, and I'll, I'll, I get it. [SPEAKER_04]: It's important to some people, but in the overall scheme of things, the comparison of, you know, do we need to put the, the competitive nature of a, a single type of a sport above the rights of this person as a human being? [SPEAKER_04]: No, human being.
[SPEAKER_07]: They're putting it above because they're saying I can only be a place one hundredth as a man, but now I go over here, I get to place fifth. [SPEAKER_07]: So they're also putting that into importance because if placing is an important, it doesn't matter who you swim against. [SPEAKER_07]: And that's not denying anybody all right. [SPEAKER_07]: I should look at the compete. [SPEAKER_07]: That's worth. [SPEAKER_07]: You just don't do as well.
[SPEAKER_10]: And by the way, Serena Williams can kick any man's ass on tennis. [SPEAKER_04]: He said it. [SPEAKER_04]: It's her quote. [SPEAKER_04]: I know she said that. [SPEAKER_10]: But it's because she's in her forties now, not because she said in her prime. [SPEAKER_04]: I laugh about that, though, because I'm sorry. [SPEAKER_04]: Serena Williams could absolutely iron into her when I was in the grocery store.
[SPEAKER_04]: When we lived in South Florida, so when I was working for Randy Rose and I lived in South Florida, we lived in the area that was just south of the Trump PGA course in Palm Beach. [SPEAKER_04]: And the housing area that's that's right across the the road is where a lot of wealthy people including Serena and she is houses there. [SPEAKER_04]: So you would run in or you could run into the publics and I ran into the publics one day.
[SPEAKER_04]: It was just one of those were you just saying you know, it's somebody famous you run into them. [SPEAKER_04]: You're like, hey, whatever. [SPEAKER_04]: I'm sorry. [SPEAKER_04]: She's so built. [SPEAKER_04]: She could kick anybody's ass. [SPEAKER_07]: She's still fantastic. [SPEAKER_07]: And I'll send you the quote. [SPEAKER_07]: She's built. [SPEAKER_07]: I thought it'd be a word. [SPEAKER_04]: But if you play, she'll just beat somebody half her age. [SPEAKER_04]: Oh, gosh.
[SPEAKER_04]: She was, uh, she's, uh, was it? [SPEAKER_04]: Um, and that's harder. [SPEAKER_07]: Well, factually speaking, Renee Richards, when Renee was a female tennis player, and then made, she went in that, she was, oh, she did okay. [SPEAKER_07]: But when she transitioned, uh, I mean, when he was a, when Dr. Richards was a male tennis player, man, when he made the transition because of wealth and he could afford it, and became Renee Richards much better.
[SPEAKER_10]: Also, again, it was after puberty. [SPEAKER_10]: We do it for puberty. [SPEAKER_10]: Everybody's on the same playing field literally on the same playing field. [SPEAKER_07]: I then, if that is the case, I think that's that's wonderful. [SPEAKER_07]: But unfortunately, some people I have a friend, Maddie, who didn't make that decision until after forty and if Maddie weren't athlete, then they could say, hey, that's not fair. [SPEAKER_07]: I wasn't ready to make that transition yet.
[SPEAKER_10]: No, I mean, my, my, my grand niece, she didn't start to transition until she was twenty six. [SPEAKER_10]: She's in her early thirties now. [SPEAKER_10]: And so I wish she realized it younger. [SPEAKER_10]: I'm sure she did, but for various reasons didn't happen. [SPEAKER_10]: So she started to transition.
[SPEAKER_10]: She's, she's on hormones, but it's expensive and, you know, she doesn't make a whole lot of money, you know, and another friend of mine, my friend Bridget, she, [SPEAKER_10]: transition again as an adult. [SPEAKER_10]: And when she couldn't afford her hormones, she didn't like how she looked her felt.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: No, it's it's it's look all of these all of these decisions and especially the decisions when you deal with kids and you deal with the fact that that [SPEAKER_04]: Parents, there are so many people who are going to have to make some tough decisions especially because this big ugly bill that they ran through that's the big ugly law.
[SPEAKER_04]: It's been frustrating to hell out of me that so many of the people that we share the media world with keep saying that all the pain isn't going to really start until twenty twenty seven or what I'm like no no no no no no Charles Gabba we mentioned him before he's a fantastic data journalist deals primarily with healthcare stuff. [SPEAKER_04]: And he's got, so he's been doing the numbers. [SPEAKER_04]: It's going to screw over.
[SPEAKER_04]: We're talking, the cuts that they made to Medicare and Medicaid and the ACA, especially the ACA subsets. [SPEAKER_04]: We're looking at probably around twenty million Americans. [SPEAKER_04]: who will either lose their health care, the health care that they have for themselves and their kids and their families, or it's going to get much more expensive.
[SPEAKER_04]: And it's going to get that they'll have to pick plans that are crappier plans and it's going to cost a whole lot more. [SPEAKER_04]: And it's all because Republicans said, well, you know, we got to give a big ass tax cut to the billionaires, who don't need another tax? [SPEAKER_04]: And I don't need it. [SPEAKER_07]: No. [SPEAKER_04]: And I'm with them. [SPEAKER_04]: So many families going to have to suffer because of that.
[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, and I think the original premise of bringing up this issue of trans or whether it's, if that's your issue for not voting for Gavin Newsom at the primary, a girl that's just been raped in Texas who wants to get an abortion, that's not going to be on their parents' mind. [SPEAKER_07]: That's not going to be their biggest issue. [SPEAKER_07]: I agree. [SPEAKER_07]: A person who saw their family get blown up in Gaza. [SPEAKER_07]: I agree. [SPEAKER_07]: I agree.
[SPEAKER_07]: If everyone has their separate issue that they don't like somebody, then we're never going to win. [SPEAKER_07]: I agree we're just gonna have to take some losses on something I agree so if it's Gavin Newsam and you say he's not far enough on these rights then we're gonna lose and we're gonna lose gay marriage pretty soon. [SPEAKER_04]: They are definitely aiming for that which God that's oh, that's so frustrating. [SPEAKER_04]: We love having you here in the bar Carlos.
[SPEAKER_04]: And I just had one. [SPEAKER_04]: Can we have, can we have you back? [SPEAKER_04]: Some point here? [SPEAKER_04]: Yes. [SPEAKER_04]: Very soon, hopefully. [SPEAKER_04]: Yes. [SPEAKER_04]: Yes. [SPEAKER_04]: See, look, we have fun here, and we don't throw chairs, because that's what we do here at politics bar. [SPEAKER_04]: We're going to have Joan Walsh and I believe Bob Ceska will be here as well. [SPEAKER_04]: Another good day, more good guests.
[SPEAKER_04]: Look, we want to see you back here tomorrow night to go home. [SPEAKER_04]: Get some rest and come back and see us tomorrow night here at the politics bar.
