[SPEAKER_05]: It's political. [SPEAKER_07]: Thank you, critical. [SPEAKER_05]: You think it's far away, but you are the politics bar. [SPEAKER_07]: Shot Smith Pearson, Jody Hamilton. [SPEAKER_04]: It's Friday, Jody. [SPEAKER_10]: It's Friday, Jody. [SPEAKER_10]: It's Friday. [SPEAKER_04]: Friday. [SPEAKER_04]: Yes, I would agree with that. [SPEAKER_04]: Fly. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, is it? [SPEAKER_04]: We're going to weaken.
[SPEAKER_04]: Hello, you know, I mean, we will hang out with some of you this weekend, just not necessarily here in the bar. [SPEAKER_04]: Right, but maybe in another bar because, you know, bars are good places to hang out. [SPEAKER_04]: By the way, thank you.
[SPEAKER_04]: If you are hanging out with us from wherever you happen to be coming in, whether that is WCPTA, M820 in Chicago or [SPEAKER_04]: Maybe you are listening to us on AM-950 in Minneapolis, April, maybe you are listening on a D2 or talk in Tennessee or progressive voices radio worldwide wherever you happen to be soon you'll be able to listen to us by the way on Georgia now radio.
[SPEAKER_04]: So we're looking forward to that also by the way thank you if you are one of those future people listening on the podcast and maybe you're always galaxy-brain people you're listening both online and on the podcast in which case
[SPEAKER_04]: especially as folks who voted for Trump Republicans because yeah although we got some good news in election land today and there's there's some good stuff there so it's Friday and how you doing like you know overall for the week joddy overall um because we have my nieces dog here [SPEAKER_04]: Yes, at the pop. [SPEAKER_11]: He's good. [SPEAKER_11]: And usually when he stays here, I sleep in the living room because I can't sleep because he glues himself in the cat.
[SPEAKER_04]: We've been together in mass hysteria. [SPEAKER_11]: I mean, they're getting better with him, but they're still in there. [SPEAKER_11]: So like don't want you that close in my space that exactly our bedroom is the cat's room, right? [SPEAKER_11]: So really I sleep in the living room because we have a lovely pull-out couch that is always pulled up because that's how we watch TV Not kidding. [SPEAKER_11]: It's always pulled out Um, it's a little twin.
[SPEAKER_02]: So the two of us do fit on it. [SPEAKER_04]: The two of us fit on this little twin pull-out Is it like a, is it like a lovely seat kind of thing? [SPEAKER_11]: Oh, it's a little bit A little bit smaller [SPEAKER_04]: Okay. [SPEAKER_03]: Wow. [SPEAKER_11]: Not much smaller but a little bit. [SPEAKER_11]: I'll send you a picture. [SPEAKER_11]: Anyway. [SPEAKER_03]: Okay. [SPEAKER_11]: So we have this guest house, which is a very nice way of saying a pool house.
[SPEAKER_11]: It's got a bed in it and a toilet. [SPEAKER_11]: And Lonnie did build us a closet. [SPEAKER_11]: But so and that's got a queen size bed in it. [SPEAKER_11]: Because he glues himself to me someone I sleep out there. [SPEAKER_11]: I can't move, because he's like, glued. [SPEAKER_04]: Lonnie glues himself to you. [SPEAKER_11]: No, no, the dog does. [SPEAKER_04]: Well, I was like, 20 years. [SPEAKER_11]: He doesn't bloom himself to me anymore.
[SPEAKER_11]: And, um, and so he used to live out there with his, with his mom with my niece. [SPEAKER_11]: She lived there for years with him. [SPEAKER_04]: Oh, the dog it. [SPEAKER_04]: So he's familiar with that room very well. [SPEAKER_11]: And so, and also because I go to bed so much earlier than Lonnie does, if I go to bed in the living room, Lonnie's got to go into the bedroom and it's a whole, like he's got to be quiet in the house. [SPEAKER_04]: Right, I get it, I get it.
[SPEAKER_11]: So last night was the first time in a while that I slept out there a few times like when I've had COVID and stuff. [SPEAKER_11]: But I saw I slept out there with him and he was just so happy. [SPEAKER_04]: And like this is you know this place. [SPEAKER_04]: This is good. [SPEAKER_11]: And I get this and I goes with the humans exactly and so and I slept really well And he didn't awesome, you know, it was very it was very nice.
[SPEAKER_04]: No waking up at one a.m. [SPEAKER_11]: I woke up at like midnight as I heard usual, but then I went back to sleep I got up around two this morning. [SPEAKER_11]: So a little later than
[SPEAKER_04]: I can't get up as late as three but it was it was a good sleep it was a really good sleep it's a nice little it's a nice little pad back there it's not the it ain't the rits but you know look it's it's nice to have enough space that you can do these kinds of things which you know that's I have to admit that's we we have a nice we have a nice apartment here in the in the DC metro area and and you know we get to do some of that kind of stuff we you know but
[SPEAKER_04]: So, speaking of DC, I know, I know, I know some of you may have heard Russell Vott's. [SPEAKER_04]: I don't know anything nice to say about him. [SPEAKER_11]: Well, there's nothing nice to say about him. [SPEAKER_11]: No, no, no, sir. [SPEAKER_11]: How do we, do we know how to pronounce his name? [SPEAKER_11]: Because it's hard. [SPEAKER_04]: Yes. [SPEAKER_04]: The OU GHT, Russ Vott, Russell Vott. [SPEAKER_11]: Because some of our friends are going to vote.
[SPEAKER_04]: Well, uh, true, but it's bought as far as I know as far as as and that's how I'm going to pronounce that. [SPEAKER_04]: So I mean, you could perhaps whatever, but you know, I would like to pronounce it in the way that I actually do, but I can't say that on the air because we're in broadcaster way. [SPEAKER_11]: Yes, FCC would thank her license in a new year. [SPEAKER_04]: Right. [SPEAKER_04]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_11]: Exactly.
[SPEAKER_04]: But, um, so he pulled the trigger and says, oh, fire rings are going to start. [SPEAKER_04]: Remember when we're back up buck Walter Posso was here a couple weeks ago and she laid out all those things like five big laws and said, you know, the, the, the, yeah, these are just the beginning of the things reasons why you cannot fire employees government plays during a federal shutdown. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, Rust on care. [SPEAKER_04]: He's fired him.
[SPEAKER_04]: He's already been sued by I think like three unions already before the end of today business day. [SPEAKER_04]: Uh, what a jackass and and the bad thing is so these dumbass idiots in the mainstream media are like, oh, well, you know, this might put more pressure on the Democrats. [SPEAKER_04]: How? [SPEAKER_04]: Wait, it's going to put more pressure on the Republicans, not the Democrats.
[SPEAKER_04]: If Russ fought is allowed to fire workers regardless of what the law says, just like if Donnie can take back money regardless of what the law says, then why should Democrats agree to anything? [SPEAKER_11]: Don't agree to anything. [SPEAKER_11]: It's just unlikely it's getting through to the average.
[SPEAKER_04]: Human it seems to be most of the polls do because most people understand when you make a deal when you make an agreement if you make an agreement with your sibling and your kid if you make an agreement I you know with a your friend on another team in high school you make an agreement with your boss make an agreement with you He swears exactly when you make an agreement you follow through one if you start following through and then you will turn the deal
[SPEAKER_04]: your stick in line piece of crap and nobody will trust you and nobody should trust you right i think that's pretty self-evident to most people but apparently not self-evident to most of the people who are in the mainstream media who can't seem to add two and two and get four so i don't understand [SPEAKER_04]: If we add two and two and get four, Republicans will be mad at us because they don't like that. [SPEAKER_04]: They don't like math. [SPEAKER_04]: What?
[SPEAKER_04]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_04]: Exactly, Jody. [SPEAKER_04]: They don't like squads, screw them. [SPEAKER_04]: Do your job or get them like in media. [SPEAKER_04]: It's not just... Dries may not, but yeah, we do have some stories that are in the news on Tap today about that. [SPEAKER_04]: About the disgusting shutdown that is in the second round. [SPEAKER_04]: Oh, the news on Tap.
[SPEAKER_04]: I know we skip the first round, but the first round, I mean, you know, [SPEAKER_04]: We hit you with some bad news. [SPEAKER_04]: There is some better news actually in in the war for America today. [SPEAKER_04]: Well, Trump's losing a little bit. [SPEAKER_04]: He lost in courts on Chicago. [SPEAKER_04]: They've got a two week initial temporary restraining order. [SPEAKER_04]: So basically the National Guard can't last on my check.
[SPEAKER_04]: We'll have to check with Karen when Karen and Anita both come in later tonight from True Blue politics. [SPEAKER_04]: But at last check when I checked earlier this afternoon, it looks like the National Guard have left. [SPEAKER_04]: the ice facility that is in broad view in the suburbs of Chicago. [SPEAKER_04]: Because they've been ordered to. [SPEAKER_11]: Did you see these lovely men from Texas and how Pete Higgs-F would not want them to be in any sort of armed services?
[SPEAKER_04]: They weren't pretty were they? [SPEAKER_11]: They were a little overweight. [SPEAKER_11]: They're not so good. [SPEAKER_11]: They're not on duty all the time. [SPEAKER_11]: It's a weekend job, basically.
[SPEAKER_04]: right little little do we not not like his you know hardened ice forces who are monsters think some had facial hair to uh... well not not not clean shaven their well my god what would kick breath say probably say something wrong and [SPEAKER_04]: What is most important for a cake worth? [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, exactly. [SPEAKER_04]: Am I making fun of a peak cake worth? [SPEAKER_04]: Yes, I am. [SPEAKER_04]: He can suck it. [SPEAKER_04]: Anyway.
[SPEAKER_04]: Sorry, that's just my feeling on that. [SPEAKER_04]: But I'm glad that they also not only lost in court on the national guard stuff, but there are new protections for protesters and journalists as well. [SPEAKER_04]: Especially a lot to be firing at priests and preachers with pepper guns. [SPEAKER_11]: That wasn't sane, man. [SPEAKER_11]: He was doing nothing but praying. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, exactly. [SPEAKER_04]: But you have to pray the way they want you to pray.
[SPEAKER_04]: And yet they say they believe in free speech. [SPEAKER_04]: I don't think they don't believe in grab.
[SPEAKER_04]: uh... there there was uh... a little bit of a scary thing uh... that happened to be uh... uh... so a u.s. [SPEAKER_04]: and a fashion anti-fascism expert he was uh... a ruckus professor yeah they're moving to Spain because they don't trust the trump regime and while they were leaving they got stopped now they got that they were allowed to to finally go through but they got stopped from boarding on the plane would just i don't understand that are we soviet rush
[SPEAKER_04]: That's why that's why people are a little worried and I and I agree when I both we we found that story both of us and I I just it's worrisome It's something to keep an eye on yeah, but overall things [SPEAKER_04]: things are way better than they could be. [SPEAKER_04]: They are way worse than we wish they were. [SPEAKER_04]: But for the people who are all, oh, it's doom and gloom and everything's awful. [SPEAKER_04]: And you know, throw dirt over yourself. [SPEAKER_04]: Stop it.
[SPEAKER_11]: Well, don't do that. [SPEAKER_11]: We have we have to fight. [SPEAKER_11]: And if you're tired, take a day or a week off and then come back. [SPEAKER_04]: Oh, my God, take a rest. [SPEAKER_04]: If you don't have room at your house, you know, ask a friend. [SPEAKER_04]: My God, find somewhere serious. [SPEAKER_11]: Yeah, and touch grass. [SPEAKER_04]: Exactly and have fun like the folks in Portland. [SPEAKER_04]: Oh my god. [SPEAKER_04]: Oh, you got you got this one.
[SPEAKER_04]: Interview with the protestor known as the Portland chicken And he says that the protesters that that we're winning this and it's true. [SPEAKER_04]: I mean Trump and his regime are painting a dark picture of Portland But the fact of the matter is [SPEAKER_04]: it's nothing but grimmets. [SPEAKER_04]: You got people in frog costumes and dinosaur costumes. [SPEAKER_04]: The inflatable ones dance in. [SPEAKER_04]: They're doing exactly what Malcolm Nance told them to do.
[SPEAKER_04]: And people are putting up banners over interstates, over highways. [SPEAKER_04]: And of course, when when they're protesting, they're, you know, bounce the ground in these costumes and dancing and having fun and which is exactly what y'all should be doing because no kings too is not tomorrow. [SPEAKER_04]: It's a week from tomorrow. [SPEAKER_04]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_04]: Johnny's right. [SPEAKER_04]: I'm looking forward to it.
[SPEAKER_04]: It's going to be fun, it's going to be a good ass dance party across the U.S. [SPEAKER_04]: everywhere, all 50 states and seven territories, you got music, you got, you know, things you can protest, protest in favor of something, protest joyfully, you know? [SPEAKER_11]: I think that Portland's having their naked bike ride this weekend and they're also going to be like a furry group of people going by the ice. [SPEAKER_11]: Okay. [SPEAKER_11]: So that should be fun.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Go for it. [SPEAKER_04]: Absolutely. [SPEAKER_04]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_04]: Portland is I have a friend who she's traveling nurse and she does she's she's been in Portland for like, oh, I don't know. [SPEAKER_04]: I think it doesn't wicks or something like that. [SPEAKER_04]: And Abby is just gorgeous and a wonderful person. [SPEAKER_04]: Just gorgeous as a person and great voice. [SPEAKER_04]: And she kicks ass. [SPEAKER_04]: She absolutely kicks ass.
[SPEAKER_04]: She's like Portland is a freaking blast. [SPEAKER_04]: These people are awesome. [SPEAKER_04]: She's like, you know, one of the best bookstores of the world, Hello, pals, you know, she's, you know, and she's loving it. [SPEAKER_04]: She says, the, the whole Trump thing that this is awful and everything's awful and no Portland's a blast man. [SPEAKER_04]: It's safe.
[SPEAKER_04]: She says, yeah, they're, they're some homeless people, but she says they're polite, she says that they're nicer than homeless people. [SPEAKER_04]: She's seen in other places. [SPEAKER_11]: Well, and I mean, my sister Nancy used to live up there. [SPEAKER_11]: She's since moved down in Palm Springs, sold her place up there. [SPEAKER_11]: She was there for years. [SPEAKER_11]: And I have cousins that live out there.
[SPEAKER_11]: I have friends that I went to high school that live up there. [SPEAKER_11]: They live it. [SPEAKER_11]: Tom Hartman loves it. [SPEAKER_04]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_04]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_04]: So I, you know, know what you know and pay attention to what you guys know is fact and what you know is fact is that Portland is a good place and the people there are good and it is not some horrible stinking hellhole like Donald Trump says.
[SPEAKER_04]: That is [SPEAKER_04]: It's just because Grandpy can't tell that the footage that they fed him on Fox is five years old. [SPEAKER_11]: Well, and I mean, the footage that they promoted the other day about Chicago with Paul trees in the background. [SPEAKER_04]: We didn't even get that in there. [SPEAKER_04]: footage, tell him, tell him, tell him, tell him, tell him, tell him. [SPEAKER_11]: It was it's footage from Mara Logo, basically.
[SPEAKER_11]: It's footage from Palm Beach, and that they're trying to use that to say, and that's from this past April, that that Chicago now did. [SPEAKER_04]: What was that? [SPEAKER_04]: Was that newsmax or something that was using that and claiming it was Chicago, but it was on the outside? [SPEAKER_11]: Posted it.
[SPEAKER_04]: idiots idiots look this is why we post up the free news on tap you guys can read the stories and check the clips yourself you'll see that we do our homework because you know we make it easy for you guys to hang out and listen us we've got a Karen Anita coming tonight we've got a great drink of the day for you on that [SPEAKER_04]: It's a Friday. [SPEAKER_04]: Take a breath. [SPEAKER_04]: We know it's been a long week. [SPEAKER_04]: Breathe in. [SPEAKER_04]: Breathe out.
[SPEAKER_04]: Get your drink refresh. [SPEAKER_04]: Hang out. [SPEAKER_04]: We got more for you here tonight. [SPEAKER_04]: With Jodi and me here at the politics bar. [SPEAKER_04]: It is Friday, Friday, as Jody says, which you know what, I honestly think Jody is right. [SPEAKER_04]: About that and a lot of things, of course you could actually get a t-shirt. [SPEAKER_04]: Two versions of it that says Jody is right, including the building.
[SPEAKER_04]: It is the store at the politics bar dot com you can go you can look and in fact There's actually a shirt that kind of looks like the Chris is wrong shirt over at the Stephanie Miller show store So you could go to steps place and get that one and then you could get the Jodi is right one and so you could have one for Well, whatever Oh, Lonnie's gonna start working for Stephanie's gonna start running cameras on Monday.
[SPEAKER_11]: Oh, wow And I'm gonna have him I'm gonna buy him a Chris's wrong shirt just to mess with Chris [SPEAKER_04]: You should come in on a Tuesday. [SPEAKER_04]: Him wearing the Chris' wrong shirt and you wearing the Jodie is right, shirt. [SPEAKER_04]: That would be beautiful. [SPEAKER_04]: If you guys want, you guys should go look just check them out. [SPEAKER_04]: They are at the politics bar store at thepoliticsbar.com. [SPEAKER_04]: All right, Jodie, it is a Tuesday Friday.
[SPEAKER_11]: I don't know what day of the week it is anymore. [SPEAKER_04]: I'm so, my brain is so, just because I'm so fried. [SPEAKER_04]: I'm so, because it's been, it's been a push. [SPEAKER_04]: And it's not just a push to keep up with the stuff. [SPEAKER_04]: Although, I mean, you know, because you and I, we both, you're just trying to keep up with this stuff. [SPEAKER_04]: But it's a push because I'm doing a lot more of what I used to do.
[SPEAKER_04]: For years when I worked with Randy, we've talked about this here at the bar before. [SPEAKER_04]: When you work in a particular industry, and especially when it's a small industry, it's as though everybody in the industry, we're working in the same place. [SPEAKER_04]: A virtual building, if you will, and that's what it is for a lot of folks if you're working in news media or news related media like we do. [SPEAKER_04]: and you actually have integrity.
[SPEAKER_04]: The folks who don't have integrity, they're in a whole other part of the metaphorical building. [SPEAKER_04]: But for those of you who, you know, you're in different industries, wherever like, you know, I was a pizza driver one time, pizza delivery driver.
[SPEAKER_04]: If you're in a town at E. [SPEAKER_04]: you know the other pizza delivery drivers or you know maybe auto parts car delivery you know the other parts delivery cars because you guys all you know you deliver the same houses and you guys know each other right the next guys knows the U.S. [SPEAKER_04]: guys you know and they know the the U.S.
[SPEAKER_04]: mail person right everybody knows each other it's just how it is and and the thing is is when you work in an industry like ours when somebody does something really big [SPEAKER_04]: It'll blow up at everybody. [SPEAKER_04]: You'll hear about it. [SPEAKER_04]: Like I've used the metaphor before, it's like somebody taking a dump on your desk. [SPEAKER_04]: And it pisses me off, really does.
[SPEAKER_04]: So starting really when I started working for Husker Sports at first, and I noticed that with sports, and that I would start to use social media, and I would payton people. [SPEAKER_04]: And sometimes, you know, loop in their bosses or loop in somebody with a little more influence and be like, don't screw us over, don't make me have to clean up a turn off my desk. [SPEAKER_04]: Because that's just damn annoying as hell. [SPEAKER_04]: Right.
[SPEAKER_04]: And last few years, things have been a little busy. [SPEAKER_04]: I hadn't done that as much. [SPEAKER_04]: But I'm starting to do that more again because more and more, I think it's important that all of us pay attention.
[SPEAKER_04]: And here's the thing, with social media, with a lot of media, but especially with social media, I think [SPEAKER_04]: I think you guys who are here in the bar, I think everybody can start doing this kind of thing a little bit more, too, policing the police as it were all that you're policing the media police, if you will. [SPEAKER_04]: So this morning, I was listening to WCPT and, you know, I mean, they've, they've tried her Michelle. [SPEAKER_04]: That's her name.
[SPEAKER_04]: She's, she's the one who was filling in this week. [SPEAKER_11]: She had Karen on this morning. [SPEAKER_04]: Yes, which is cool because, you know, Karen is going to be here later, which is great. [SPEAKER_04]: But I'm trying to remember the name of the woman that Michelle had who called in. [SPEAKER_04]: Because she was great. [SPEAKER_04]: I wrote it down earlier and I'm trying to look it up. [SPEAKER_11]: Was it her sister-in-law or the other?
[SPEAKER_04]: No, no. [SPEAKER_04]: It was a color. [SPEAKER_04]: But the woman calls in. [SPEAKER_04]: And she says, you know, one of the things that I do is that I call my legislators. [SPEAKER_04]: I call my state reps, I call my Congress people and I'm male them and I need. [SPEAKER_04]: But I also do that to the media. [SPEAKER_04]: And I was like, well, you know, because that's, that is a very important thing to do, is to police them.
[SPEAKER_04]: And they will listen to you if you, you know, if you call, if you're polite, you don't just call and be like, right, exactly. [SPEAKER_04]: You don't just call and be like, you, right. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, don't do that. [SPEAKER_04]: But, but the interact with people in the way, because here's the thing. [SPEAKER_04]: There's still some dark stuff, obviously. [SPEAKER_04]: Russ Vaughn trying to fire a bunch of people. [SPEAKER_04]: Screwed up the Dow today, among other things.
[SPEAKER_04]: Shocker? [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, no surprise. [SPEAKER_04]: But overall, fascism is losing. [SPEAKER_04]: And it's losing to people who are in chicken costumes and dinosaur suits dancing to fun music, which, as we mentioned earlier, is with Malcolm has said to us before. [SPEAKER_04]: Republicans are in disarray. [SPEAKER_04]: They say, I'm not good. [SPEAKER_04]: And this whole thing with Russ doing this actually makes it worse for them.
[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, think about this, everything since the 2020 four elections that this was a year ago. [SPEAKER_04]: Basically, we are less than a month from the 2025 general elections in Virginia in New Jersey. [SPEAKER_04]: California.
[SPEAKER_04]: uh... and yes they are in fact uh... putting out a whole lot of propaganda for example here in Virginia they're all they're blasting jay jones the guys running for uh... uh... lieutenant governor no no attorney general and they're saying that they're blasting him because all in a private message he basically said some things that he probably should know but he was angry and he he said some things against the state level republican
[SPEAKER_04]: and yet they're ignoring the fact that the guy who is the the current Republican attorney general, basically said it's okay for cops to shoot and kill people, no it's absolutely not okay but you notice the mainstream media is we don't see that dude it was printed in the Washington Post in 2022 before they went right wing fascist. [SPEAKER_04]: So anyway elections are in less than a month.
[SPEAKER_04]: And in the last year, Republicans have not been able to pass a budget, still, they've allowed Trump and his half-ashes them to go all over the place. [SPEAKER_04]: They've allowed the tariffs and trade to screw everybody and screw all the farmers. [SPEAKER_04]: And there's some information on that today in the news on tap. [SPEAKER_04]: Bessant is basically obscuring the farmers and helping his friends. [SPEAKER_11]: Yeah, well.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, a Wall Streeter, screwing rural people and putting the money in the pocket of his Wall Street friends. [SPEAKER_04]: Wow, who could have seen that when they elected Republicans? [SPEAKER_11]: This is my shot face. [SPEAKER_04]: Exactly, Joe, he smiles and then goes, no, drops the face, quits you right, you're 100% right.
[SPEAKER_04]: So the free speech thing, which everybody knows, even people that we don't like, we're agreeing with, Ted Freak and Cruz and Tucker Carlson, we're on our side about the free speech thing. [SPEAKER_04]: That's something in the province. [SPEAKER_04]: National security issues go lower, people still seem to forget that Pete Kegbreath and his little texting incident more than once by the way.
[SPEAKER_11]: Well, and Donald obviously is using true central, truth central, excuse me, um, I said truth and when I met trough. [SPEAKER_04]: Um, I knew what you meant. [SPEAKER_04]: I wasn't going to buzz you on that. [SPEAKER_04]: Because I knew what you meant. [SPEAKER_04]: It's right. [SPEAKER_11]: Um, when he, when he, when he's using that to obviously direct message, people in his cabinet. [SPEAKER_04]: Completely insecure. [SPEAKER_11]: Completely insecure.
[SPEAKER_11]: It's just you might as well just use like I said the other day hot mail or Yahoo mail, but it up on flags. [SPEAKER_04]: And all of this and Republicans have had very few town halls and when they have people get out. [SPEAKER_04]: Not just Democrats independent or Republicans too, and are yelling to help with them. [SPEAKER_04]: But they've been able to dodge a lot of this stuff. [SPEAKER_04]: they're not going to be able to dodge it, especially after the general elections.
[SPEAKER_04]: After general election, people will be like, look, it's Thanksgiving and then it's the holidays. [SPEAKER_04]: Then we've got, you know, the Hanukkah and Kwanza and Christmas and New Years and Festivists and whatever. [SPEAKER_04]: We'll just, we'll most people kind of chill out. [SPEAKER_04]: That's fine. [SPEAKER_04]: But come January, 2026 election season is going to begin in full. [SPEAKER_11]: Oh, yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: And these jackasses have nowhere to hide.
[SPEAKER_04]: They are going to have to answer for allowing Russ Vot to illegally fire. [SPEAKER_04]: Literally now, at last check, I think I heard somebody say something like 10 to 15% of the federal jobs, hundreds of thousands of Americans. [SPEAKER_04]: And some of them were hired and fired and fired and fired and fired and fired. [SPEAKER_11]: And all of the chaos, it's a bad way to run a business that alone in government. [SPEAKER_04]: Exactly.
[SPEAKER_04]: And yet, Democrats are not responsible because Republicans are the only ones in charge. [SPEAKER_04]: So you would think, you would think if somebody were in a position of authority, they might be smart enough to remember that they're in charge when they say, man, the people are running this place suck. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, well, tiny Johnson and not so much here. [SPEAKER_04]: I got this on the DBR.
[SPEAKER_06]: If you look at the polling, the people's faith and the federal government is in an [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, oh my god. [SPEAKER_04]: I have to say this tiny Johnson is right [SPEAKER_11]: He's completely correct, and it's his fault, partly. [SPEAKER_04]: That joke is right, too. [SPEAKER_04]: It is. [SPEAKER_04]: A lot of it is his fault. [SPEAKER_04]: He could have done a lot of things.
[SPEAKER_04]: In fact, in fact, he and Thune and oh my God, when you see Johnson and Thune standing next to each other, it's like there's Thune and then there's half of Thune and that's Johnson. [SPEAKER_11]: It's Chevy Chase in Paul Simon. [SPEAKER_11]: Remember that video with them? [SPEAKER_04]: Except for, they were both, you know, talented. [SPEAKER_11]: Also true, but I mean, the height thing is like so that. [SPEAKER_04]: Yes, exactly. [SPEAKER_04]: Exactly.
[SPEAKER_04]: For those of you who go back for their mutton, Jeff, just saying, so here's the thing. [SPEAKER_04]: Is it John Thune is like, oh, yeah? [SPEAKER_04]: Well, you know, with the election, the last big election had gone differently, things would have been just awful. [SPEAKER_04]: Here, this was Thune, too.
[SPEAKER_00]: uh... they probably would try to nuke the filibuster and then you'd have four new you united state senators from Puerto Rico and the district of clumbly clung to have a pack supreme court you'd have abortion on demand don't threaten me with a good time [SPEAKER_11]: First off, packing the Supreme Court is different than expanding it, so there's that. [SPEAKER_04]: Right. [SPEAKER_11]: Vastly different thing. [SPEAKER_04]: Jody is brilliantly right on that.
[SPEAKER_11]: So if you want to expand it, which it should be 13 people at minimum. [SPEAKER_04]: At least. [SPEAKER_11]: Right. [SPEAKER_04]: Because we have 13. [SPEAKER_11]: I know, but we have 13 circuits, I believe. [SPEAKER_11]: I get it. [SPEAKER_04]: I get it. [SPEAKER_04]: But I'm saying expand for the future. [SPEAKER_04]: No, I'm not. [SPEAKER_04]: So that balance that. [SPEAKER_11]: Okay. [SPEAKER_11]: But I mean, at least 13. [SPEAKER_11]: Right. [SPEAKER_11]: Exactly.
[SPEAKER_11]: Right now. [SPEAKER_11]: And then don't threaten us of Puerto Rico and DC statehood. [SPEAKER_04]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_04]: So I'm like, what the hell? [SPEAKER_04]: But of course, what Thune neglects to mention is that you would have to give them the choice. [SPEAKER_04]: And DC, 100% you give DC the choice for statehood. [SPEAKER_02]: It'll do it. [SPEAKER_04]: Right. [SPEAKER_04]: Puerto Rico has their own issues because states and territories all have their own issues.
[SPEAKER_04]: But I still think on balance, there are enough people in Puerto Rico who would probably say, he'd probably better idea to, you know, do you know, do you know? [SPEAKER_11]: Yeah, I mean, there are people in Guam and Samoa and Puerto Rico and territories and make them states. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: We could, you know, we could do an island, you know, and one group of islands that way and then they'd get the, then the representative would get to hop between the islands.
[SPEAKER_04]: However, there are ways to do this, but my whole thing is this territory status. [SPEAKER_04]: No. [SPEAKER_11]: because they don't have any representation, but they still have to pay taxes. [SPEAKER_04]: Right, right. [SPEAKER_04]: They don't have legit representation. [SPEAKER_04]: They don't have voting representation. [SPEAKER_04]: They have representatives. [SPEAKER_11]: But they don't. [SPEAKER_04]: They don't like it. [SPEAKER_11]: It's a thing.
[SPEAKER_04]: What's your name? [SPEAKER_11]: The Virgin Islands. [SPEAKER_04]: I was thinking of her, too. [SPEAKER_04]: Yes, she is a fantastic rep. [SPEAKER_04]: I cannot think she's amazing. [SPEAKER_04]: And she just doesn't have the same power as say derailleur or anybody else home snorten who has done great in the past, you know, and that's look.
[SPEAKER_04]: I do think it's time for her to retire, but no, no, no, no, no, home snorten has been great, but she'll stay sure her vote has not been a full vote. [SPEAKER_11]: Right in Congress and that's wrong. [SPEAKER_04]: I think if we're going to just keep territories at least give them some power Right or let them go one of the two exactly. [SPEAKER_04]: Jody is right. [SPEAKER_04]: Jody is brilliantly right.
[SPEAKER_04]: I'm adorable Yes, that too But I'm just that they're going guys good god, man, you know and yet The whole time that we're doing this [SPEAKER_04]: the right on all of their propaganda outlets and a lot of the mainstream outlets are parenting what the right is doing. [SPEAKER_04]: They're like, oh, Seattle's awful and Chicago's a hell whole Jimmy Kimmel had on Governor Pritzker last night and I thought this was just brilliant to kind of counteract the mainstream propaganda BS.
[SPEAKER_01]: This is JB Pertzker reporting from War-Torne, Chicago as you can see, there's other mayhem and chaos on the ground. [SPEAKER_01]: It's quite disturbing, though. [SPEAKER_01]: Milwaukee Brewers have come into attack our Chicago. [SPEAKER_01]: Seeing people being forced to eat hot dogs with ketchup on them. [SPEAKER_01]: and our deep-kish pizza will has gone shallow.
[SPEAKER_01]: So it's a challenge to survive here in the city of Chicago, but there's no hellscape that I'd rather be in. [SPEAKER_01]: That was so fun. [SPEAKER_11]: If he was in a flat jacket, it was just brilliant. [SPEAKER_04]: Oh, it was great. [SPEAKER_04]: It was a brilliant thing. [SPEAKER_04]: And we do love J.D. [SPEAKER_04]: Pritzker. [SPEAKER_04]: Even if he happened to kind of, you know, Bogart Joe Joe for most. [SPEAKER_11]: You know, I'm with her on that.
[SPEAKER_11]: I'm going to hurt you with her. [SPEAKER_04]: I get it. [SPEAKER_04]: I get it. [SPEAKER_04]: Although, you know, all I'm saying goes is, you know, you're hearing us on WCP, right? [SPEAKER_04]: WCPT right now. [SPEAKER_04]: I'm just saying go, maybe you should, you know, stop by the bar. [SPEAKER_04]: Hang out with Jody and I. Well, I'm saying that's as I'm saying, J.B. [SPEAKER_04]: Just, you know, come on. [SPEAKER_04]: Bye. [SPEAKER_04]: We'll get you a drink.
[SPEAKER_04]: Sit you down and have some fun. [UNKNOWN]: So. [SPEAKER_04]: Anyway, by the way, since he mentioned baseball, speaking to baseball, some good news for Jody specifically and also for Los Angeles because the Los Angeles Dodgers are moving on in the major league postseason. [SPEAKER_04]: I honestly, I sat there watching the game and just crossed my fingers and be like, make life good for me, do not make Jody angry. [SPEAKER_04]: You don't want to see Jody, but she's angry.
[SPEAKER_11]: I want to see me angry. [SPEAKER_11]: It's very Hulk like exactly. [SPEAKER_04]: So I am very glad to see that. [SPEAKER_04]: Come more games for that. [SPEAKER_04]: A little bit more for the WNBA. [SPEAKER_04]: We have all the details on that and the entertainment section in the news on tap. [SPEAKER_04]: We do have more news. [SPEAKER_04]: We have more political news. [SPEAKER_04]: We have Karen and Anita from Truth. [SPEAKER_04]: All takes coming in.
[SPEAKER_04]: I like this drink of the day it happens to be something that's it's kind of a bridge between the past and the future One way to put it exactly just to just make sure if you have some of these drinks You don't sing and fall down. [SPEAKER_08]: True. [SPEAKER_04]: Exactly It's a Friday jodey shaking your head at me.
[SPEAKER_04]: I know I have dad jokes give me a break guys It's Friday look what will do is you freshen your drink jodey and I will get it ready for you And then we'll give you the drink of the day next here at the politics bar [SPEAKER_08]: We'll be right back after we pay some bills at the politics bar. [SPEAKER_04]: Friday nights. [SPEAKER_04]: I would have counter. [SPEAKER_04]: I got it like this time. [SPEAKER_04]: Yay. [SPEAKER_04]: Jody and I are hanging out with you.
[SPEAKER_04]: Thank you by the way for coming in and hanging out with us from wherever you happen to be. [SPEAKER_04]: And thank you by the way for interacting with us on all of our social media platforms. [SPEAKER_04]: Whether you're having a look at our blue sky or maybe our threads or Instagram, Facebook, Substack or Twitter. [SPEAKER_04]: know where we're at. [SPEAKER_04]: We're at the politics bar, of course.
[SPEAKER_04]: You can also call us over here in the bar line, 2136777258, 21367777258. [SPEAKER_04]: That's 213677 salt. [SPEAKER_04]: And like in Yomaga, Rita. [SPEAKER_04]: There you go. [SPEAKER_04]: We are not having margaritas tonight. [SPEAKER_04]: No, we are not. [SPEAKER_04]: No, we have a little bit different drink for you tonight. [SPEAKER_04]: Kind of a breezy kind of a thing. [SPEAKER_11]: It's breezy and there's a sing-songy way to present it.
[SPEAKER_04]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I know. [SPEAKER_04]: For those of you who subscribe to the drink of the day, look, you understand what we're saying for those of you who don't, we'll just have to tell you. [SPEAKER_04]: Joey, what is the drink of the day? [SPEAKER_11]: Well, the drink of the day is an Arizona breeze. [SPEAKER_11]: Yeah, I like Arizona and I have family there and it's inspired by the London Bridge moving to Arizona.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I always got kind of freaked out by that too. [SPEAKER_04]: Julie on Substack, Santa's a message she says thanks for the history backstop. [SPEAKER_04]: I remember when the London Bridge came to the US and being thoroughly confused, which [SPEAKER_04]: I, you know, I understand that too, you know, depending on how old you are, whether you were a kid or maybe you were a little older, but going, you know, the London Bridge in Arizona.
[SPEAKER_04]: It's kind of like for years when it was, the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. [SPEAKER_11]: Oh, God. [SPEAKER_04]: You're like, well, if you're in Los Angeles, how are you in Anaheim? [SPEAKER_11]: Yeah, that was this dumbest thing. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I was just like, just keep it Anaheim Angels because that's what I, because also the, the alliteration, I like that. [SPEAKER_11]: Also when you can count on your angels for the longest time.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, but I kind of like the, I liked Anna Hymangel's because it was kind of fun. [SPEAKER_04]: I like the little little, a little ration, and then you could also say, hey, I'm going to A, A. I know. [SPEAKER_04]: Sorry. [SPEAKER_04]: Sorry. [SPEAKER_04]: Sorry. [SPEAKER_04]: Anyway, so drink of the day today. [SPEAKER_04]: It is an Arizona breeze, uh, inspired by the London Bridge. [SPEAKER_11]: We're coming over here in 1971.
[SPEAKER_04]: haven't been well actually I think was 67 yeah we got that there it is in the drink of the day at the politics bar dot com as started started moving over in sixty seven finished in in seventy one uh... this is actually the third London bridge there's been a London bridge at that location on the tams river in London since forty three b c e before current era which is frequent ridiculous that's
[SPEAKER_11]: It used to be just BC because it was meant before Christ, but they changed it. [SPEAKER_04]: Right. [SPEAKER_04]: Because, you know, we like people of all agents and your religion and no religion, exactly. [SPEAKER_04]: Because, you know, that's kind of how we do it here. [SPEAKER_04]: Okay. [SPEAKER_04]: So, what's the short story behind the bridge being moved over? [SPEAKER_04]: It came over. [SPEAKER_04]: It did just like airs on a state, like move it over.
[SPEAKER_04]: Or what's the deal longer? [SPEAKER_11]: Well, I'm a Robert McCullough, brought it for almost $2.5 million which, as you stated to me, on the break, was would be close to $23.5 million today. [SPEAKER_11]: Yeah, that's all. [SPEAKER_11]: And then he had the individually numbered stones shipped from the dismantled bridge in London, all the way to Lake Havasu in Arizona. [SPEAKER_04]: That's, I mean, yeah, that's a hell of a tourist attraction. [SPEAKER_11]: It is.
[SPEAKER_11]: It's second only to the Grand Canyon in Arizona. [SPEAKER_04]: So you can see the bridge, and you don't even have to go to London. [SPEAKER_04]: You just have to go to Lake Hathaway. [SPEAKER_11]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_11]: And visitors can now enjoy a 90-minute tour, taking all of that in information and who originally built the first one and all of that fun stuff. [SPEAKER_11]: And I highly recommend it.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: I think if you guys want to catch up a little bit more, you can check it out at the drink of the day. [SPEAKER_04]: At the politics bar.com. [SPEAKER_04]: Jody, what is in a smooth, Arizona breeze cocktail? [SPEAKER_11]: It's a pretty easy drink to make, which I'm trying to make them easier. [SPEAKER_04]: Easy as easy as good, especially given, you know, that not everybody is, you know, some people are on furlough and, you know, some people are stressed out.
[SPEAKER_04]: Easy as helpful. [SPEAKER_04]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_11]: So you just need to shake or some ice, a pre-chilled Collins glass. [SPEAKER_11]: Got it. [SPEAKER_11]: Two ounces of top shelf gin. [SPEAKER_03]: Got it. [SPEAKER_11]: Two and a half ounces of cranberry juice, sweetened, which is important. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_11]: Because it'll help with the gin stuff. [SPEAKER_11]: Also, one and a half ounces of pink grape fruit juice.
[SPEAKER_11]: So the cranberry juice will cut any of the bitterness of grape fruit juice. [SPEAKER_11]: Yeah, that makes sense. [SPEAKER_11]: I like grapefruit juice though, and a grapefruit wedge for garnish. [SPEAKER_11]: And this is a very simple, simple thing. [SPEAKER_11]: You shake all the ingredients until they're chilled, strain it into your cons glass with ice, and then you garnish with the grapefruit edge. [SPEAKER_11]: Wedge, excuse me. [SPEAKER_04]: Uh, sounds like you've had a few.
[SPEAKER_11]: And, um, grapefruit wedge, I can say that. [SPEAKER_11]: And again, we don't want you falling down like, the sound like the London bridge. [SPEAKER_11]: Also, isn't it about the plague? [SPEAKER_04]: Yes. [SPEAKER_04]: Yes, actually. [SPEAKER_11]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_11]: We don't avoid the plague anymore. [SPEAKER_04]: Anyway. [SPEAKER_04]: We'll talk about that, too.
[SPEAKER_04]: Thank you guys, by the way, for all of you who do interact with us on all the platforms and who subscribe and get the drink of the day. [SPEAKER_04]: If you guys miss the drink of the day, you don't want to do subscribe to it at the Celticsbar.com. [SPEAKER_04]: Okay, Jodie. [SPEAKER_04]: I... [SPEAKER_04]: Sometimes, you know, it just kind of, you laugh at the stupidity about some of this. [SPEAKER_08]: You have to.
[SPEAKER_04]: So obviously, Donnie's law fair is going on, and it is just stupid. [SPEAKER_04]: We have that as part of the first round in the news on tap today in the War for America. [SPEAKER_04]: There are two charges. [SPEAKER_04]: I was wrong last night when I said that there was a charge. [SPEAKER_04]: Two charges against Tisch James, A.G. [SPEAKER_04]: of New York, which their bogus charges. [SPEAKER_08]: Of course they are.
[SPEAKER_04]: Long and short that the first charge is bank fraud, which alleges that James did this on purpose to secure a more favorable loan on a rental home, which was like a short term investment for him, which is stupid. [SPEAKER_04]: And the second one is that she made false statements basically, the paperwork charge, it's all crap. [SPEAKER_04]: It's all garbage. [SPEAKER_04]: It's absolutely stupid.
[SPEAKER_04]: And I just, the whole thing is, is that it doesn't [SPEAKER_04]: His charges like this don't just damage coming in James. [SPEAKER_04]: It damages law itself and it damages people's trust in the government and trust in the law. [SPEAKER_04]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_04]: If people say, if you can't win fairly, regardless of what it is, if you can't succeed fairly because regulations and things, people go screw it.
[SPEAKER_04]: Then I understand the position from the right they're wrong because they think, well, these regulations are on risk. [SPEAKER_04]: because they don't want to do things like pay people fairly and, you know, not clean air. [SPEAKER_04]: Right, exactly. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Which they're wrong and clean air benefits everyone. [SPEAKER_04]: And so, just paying everyone fairly. [SPEAKER_04]: These things do, in fact, benefit all of us. [SPEAKER_04]: Mm-hmm.
[SPEAKER_04]: But if you're not going to follow the law, if you're just going to whatever I'm going to ignore whatever regulation, the right seems to think that everybody else, the, the, the, the, the maga right, the, whatever remains of the Republican party.
[SPEAKER_04]: seems to think that everybody else is going to play along with law, and they get to do whatever the hell they want, they get to play Calvin ball, and everybody else has to follow the rules, and that ain't how it works, that ain't it kid, that ain't it kid, and as people as other people are starting to do more of those kinds of things and saying, you know, what's screw you? [SPEAKER_04]: I think some of them are starting to worry, and they should be worried.
[SPEAKER_04]: But it should be afraid, they should be terrified. [SPEAKER_04]: Because you pissed off the, as we call it, as Bruce Bartlett calls it, the broad left, which is basically everybody who is non-maga. [SPEAKER_03]: Right. [SPEAKER_04]: And you guys really pissed off the broad left. [SPEAKER_04]: You stupid maggots, you.
[SPEAKER_04]: Because of the fact that, if y'all want to play Chicago rules, [SPEAKER_04]: Especially for those of you in the WCPT land, but everybody remembers Chicago rules, you know? [SPEAKER_04]: And you won't go that way, that's fine, but they're not going to win. [SPEAKER_04]: In the end, they're not going to win. [SPEAKER_04]: In Chicago rules, means there are no rules. [SPEAKER_04]: And in the end, that's Anarchy and nobody wins that way. [SPEAKER_04]: Right.
[SPEAKER_04]: So it's just stupid when people do that. [SPEAKER_04]: It is self-defeating.
[SPEAKER_04]: you got to have rules and there are a growing number of people you know you have uh... uh... what is it uh... marge and uh... her friends on the absteen thing you have Kevin kiley who's uh... culture you're into the bar who's saying hey on the the shut down they're more republicans by the way oh yeah this this happens to be they're not a mighty oh oh yeah uh... so uh... democrats of dug in because they know that they've got the winning hand on all the way to
[SPEAKER_04]: But House Republicans, I guess they had a caucus call phone call last night, and they're pissed off at tiny Johnson. [SPEAKER_04]: They were actually shaking their tiny Johnson at each other, which I don't need to see that. [SPEAKER_04]: But I know buddy, you need to see that. [SPEAKER_04]: I know buddy, you need to see that. [UNKNOWN]: But. [SPEAKER_04]: they're mad at him. [SPEAKER_04]: They're they're they're mad at him because they're like your strategy sucks.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, and you're losing and for all those people including us We've given crap to Schumer. [SPEAKER_04]: We gave Schumer props before and I think Schumer and Jefferies are They're actually if as you know [SPEAKER_04]: There are so long as they don't overplay their hands, so long as they keep things going the proper way, so far they're winning the shutdown. [SPEAKER_04]: They are. [SPEAKER_04]: There's a good piece on that. [SPEAKER_04]: They are. [SPEAKER_11]: They're great.
[SPEAKER_11]: And Michael Tomaski had a piece out today talking about... Oh, I missed that one. [SPEAKER_11]: It's a good one. [SPEAKER_11]: Talking about how historians always look back when fascism is starting and most people don't see it happening as it is happening. [SPEAKER_11]: And Tomaski writes, oh no, we're seeing it. [SPEAKER_04]: We are, but a lot of people in a lot of places are standing up and fighting it.
[SPEAKER_04]: It just, it doesn't look like I think people thought it would look like. [SPEAKER_04]: Like you didn't think that you'd be standing up for Jim Komey and John Bolton. [SPEAKER_04]: Nope, never thought that. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, me either. [SPEAKER_04]: But we didn't think we'd be standing with Marjorie Taylor Greene also our boberch and antsy mates exactly on anything and yet we're standing. [SPEAKER_04]: Here we are. [SPEAKER_04]: I'm okay with that.
[SPEAKER_04]: I'm okay with, in fact, that's kind of how America actually works. [SPEAKER_04]: It worked a lot better when everybody wasn't everybody from who vaguely resembles this must be in this pile and everybody who vaguely resembles this and you cannot cross the lines. [SPEAKER_04]: We cross the lines all that's what that's what being the United States is all about. [SPEAKER_04]: We cross all the lines we're like, you know, would you like this fusion taco?
[SPEAKER_04]: This Asian fusion taco, which are three words that don't generally supposed to go together, but they do sometimes very tasteily. [SPEAKER_04]: You know, we have all kinds of things like that because we're the United States. [SPEAKER_04]: Other countries, they're starting to copy us, but they're still not there yet and they won't be for a long time.
[SPEAKER_11]: Republican, and then Rokana, hardcore progressive together, liberal, like even like further, like not even pragmatic, sometimes he's like, way on the left. [SPEAKER_11]: And to see those two guys together with match, with Lauren Bobert, with Nancy Mace, and the other Democrats. [SPEAKER_04]: But also with people like Adam Schiff, and Elizabeth Warren, and they're all going, yep, we're all on the same side on this one.
[SPEAKER_04]: And I'm like, [SPEAKER_04]: That's that's really good. [SPEAKER_04]: I'm like, yeah, you know, you got you got Jasmine Crocodile out there saying on this on this, MTG is right. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: You got Jasmine Crocodile saying that Marjorie Taylor Green of all people to like going back, please those two do not get along. [SPEAKER_04]: But that's what the United States is all about supposed to be used to be. [SPEAKER_04]: Mm-hmm. [SPEAKER_04]: It could begin.
[SPEAKER_04]: It should be again. [SPEAKER_04]: We can make it that way again if we work towards it. [SPEAKER_04]: But we got to make sure that we keep standing up and we keep reminding people, you know, like Malcolm Hansa said, to have fun, you know, get your costumes out, get your music ready, and remind everybody that on our side. [SPEAKER_04]: We make tasty things, we agree on the things that we agree on.
[SPEAKER_04]: We stand for the things that we believe in, but we also mix things up a little bit, you know, little from the south, little from the northeast, maybe some from the west, and little from the Midwest, we mix everything up. [SPEAKER_04]: Now, we get some tasty social gumbo, if you will. [SPEAKER_04]: Absolutely. [SPEAKER_04]: That's kind of how things are supposed to work. [SPEAKER_04]: So, any of them, it's a Friday night, and you can tell I'm a little hungry, so.
[SPEAKER_04]: I am a little hungry, just you know, I mean, I ate earlier today, but whatever, you know, I could, I need to watch what I eat, but there are times when I don't watch it, you know, I just have seafood, you know, I see food and I eat it. [SPEAKER_11]: That's, that's okay. [SPEAKER_04]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_04]: I'm gonna go get something about it. [SPEAKER_04]: I'm gonna go get a little bite here.
[SPEAKER_04]: I think you're gonna get a bite You're gonna get drinks and we're gonna get Karen and Anita. [SPEAKER_04]: They will be coming in next hour. [SPEAKER_04]: Of course, we have more news on tap to discuss with all of you guys. [SPEAKER_04]: Look, it's top of the hour. [SPEAKER_04]: Do you got to do? [SPEAKER_04]: You know we say we aim to please. [SPEAKER_04]: You aim to please. [SPEAKER_04]: So that way we don't have to do too much clean up later. [SPEAKER_04]: All right.
[SPEAKER_04]: Come on back just a few minutes. [SPEAKER_04]: Friday night here at the politics ball. [SPEAKER_08]: We'll be right back after we pay some bills of the politics bar. [SPEAKER_07]: Welcome to the bar. [SPEAKER_07]: It's political. [SPEAKER_07]: Thank you, radical. [SPEAKER_05]: You think it's a bar where we won the politics bar? [SPEAKER_07]: Shotsmith, Pearson, Jodie Heldton. [SPEAKER_05]: Jodie! [SPEAKER_05]: Jodie! [SPEAKER_04]: What are you doing? [SPEAKER_05]: It is flyier.
[SPEAKER_04]: It is flyier. [SPEAKER_04]: It is the last hour before we get to have a nice little weekend and chill out. [SPEAKER_04]: Maybe enjoy some sports of various times, hockey season has started if you're a big hockey person. [SPEAKER_04]: That's good for you. [SPEAKER_04]: Maybe you're a puck head. [SPEAKER_04]: That's what they call them. [SPEAKER_04]: You know, maybe you're still watching baseball, maybe you're volleyball or football, whatever.
[SPEAKER_04]: Maybe you're not doing any of that. [SPEAKER_04]: You're watching music videos and doing entertainment stuff. [SPEAKER_04]: Some great movies out this weekend. [SPEAKER_04]: We've got all of details on that course. [SPEAKER_04]: It is the politics bar. [SPEAKER_04]: So we do happen to have some great political news before we do that. [SPEAKER_04]: They'll big thanks by the way to all of our wonderful affiliates.
[SPEAKER_04]: Whether you happen to be listening to us on A. [SPEAKER_04]: I'm $9.50 in the Twin Cities Minneapolis Saint Paul. [SPEAKER_04]: Maybe you don't want two cities. [SPEAKER_04]: Maybe you want to go to three and you're listening to the D2 or talk in the tricities area of Tennessee.
[SPEAKER_04]: Maybe you are listening on AM820 Chicago's WCPT, or maybe you are listening on progressive voices radio worldwide, wherever you happen to be, or maybe you're one of those brilliant future people. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, it's your PayPal future. [SPEAKER_04]: You could be in which case, thank you for listening to the podcast. [SPEAKER_04]: Whatever day or time in the future that you're listening to us. [SPEAKER_04]: So we appreciate that.
[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, all right, Jody, we are, um, I won't say we're sharp because, you know, it's been a long week and we're both. [SPEAKER_04]: Man, but oh, I have to admit I'm really glad about the guests that we are out to and that we're getting we'll get Joe Joe back sometime here soon Which will be good next week got some great guests as well since Monday is Indigenous people day She couldn't do it then, but she will be with us Tuesday.
[SPEAKER_04]: Julie French hella is gonna be here [SPEAKER_04]: who, uh, if you don't know, you can hear her Thursday nights usually over on, uh, John Fugle saying she's one serious XM, uh, she happens to be an artist and author and a professor of indigenous studies. [SPEAKER_04]: So she'll be perfect for indigenous people's day, uh, for Angela is going to be here next week too, which absolutely excited for that as well.
[SPEAKER_04]: And of course, we got, uh, we're looking at a little bit further ahead. [SPEAKER_04]: Uh, we got who else is coming up. [SPEAKER_11]: We're going to try to get him Russ. [SPEAKER_11]: I put up the feelers out for Mr. Russ. [SPEAKER_04]: we could do that. [SPEAKER_04]: Look, there's guests you guys have suggestions for on that. [SPEAKER_04]: Hey, best thing you can do, you know what to do, just get out to us on any of our social media. [SPEAKER_04]: We're at the politics bar.
[SPEAKER_04]: All right, Jody, back to the news on tap because we'll probably it's, you know, it's what we're here for, it's what we should be doing. [SPEAKER_04]: Um, they did something actually good on Capitol Hill. [SPEAKER_04]: I was somewhat surprised, yeah, and you'll be surprised at this, too. [SPEAKER_04]: Okay, so you realize that they have the 12 appropriations bills. [SPEAKER_04]: That's, that's what they haven't passed. [SPEAKER_04]: Right.
[SPEAKER_04]: The house passed a version of the appropriations bill for what's known as the NDAA, national defense authorization [SPEAKER_11]: because they have to do that every two years. [SPEAKER_04]: I'll have to do it every year. [SPEAKER_11]: It's always, I thought it was every two years, but regardless, they have to do it or there's no running. [SPEAKER_04]: Right, and usually they just include that in the CR and whatever, blah, blah, blah, blah. [SPEAKER_04]: But the house passed one.
[SPEAKER_04]: The Senate passed a slightly different version. [SPEAKER_04]: Even though they couldn't pass an actual CR, get the government going, but by partisan Senate group, it was a 70-20 vote. [SPEAKER_04]: All right. [SPEAKER_04]: Included in it. [SPEAKER_04]: The includes a unanimous repeal of the 2002 AUMF, the authorization for use of military force that gave presidents a lot more power over war that led to the Iraq War. [SPEAKER_11]: Finally.
[SPEAKER_11]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: A lot of Democrats in pushing for that for 20 years to repeal the 2002 AUMF good job guys. [SPEAKER_11]: No that that's that's actual news because we literally have not in war since World War 2. [SPEAKER_11]: We have had wars, Korea, Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan. [SPEAKER_11]: But we haven't declared war because Congress is supposed to do that.
[SPEAKER_04]: But among other things, because of 9-11 and all the war talk and all the ridiculous stuff that way, we gave whoever sits in the seat of the president, a lot of power, right, exactly. [SPEAKER_04]: And Trump has been using some of that power to blow up the boats down off the coast of Venezuela. [SPEAKER_04]: But it was a unanimous consent.
[SPEAKER_04]: that that added this so if we can get the government back open and they can get in there and negotiate this hopefully that that amendment that's sentiment will continue and it will take away that power from Donnie at which point yeah at which point he's going to have to you know [SPEAKER_04]: put his his tiny Johnson back in the shorts. [SPEAKER_04]: No, not that one the other one. [SPEAKER_11]: Oh, so it's about time, man.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Look, good for the Senate. [SPEAKER_11]: I'm just going to go with all of them. [SPEAKER_04]: Good for the Senate, but also good for the Democrats because Democrats have been on this for 25 years. [SPEAKER_04]: And for those of you who are, you know, oh, well, protest doesn't work or whatever, and, you know, calling your senators doesn't work. [SPEAKER_00]: It works. [SPEAKER_04]: It works. [SPEAKER_04]: It's just not, it's not instant.
[SPEAKER_04]: It's not flip a switch. [SPEAKER_04]: Um, I don't even think we we included a little bit more of this in the news on tap. [SPEAKER_04]: Obviously, um, you know, we we hinted a little bit more. [SPEAKER_04]: This happens to be in the, um, uh, is in the fourth round yet is the bottom of the fourth round section in the news on tap today.
[SPEAKER_04]: So treasury secretary, Terry Bessons confirmed that the U.S. [SPEAKER_04]: isn't fact bailing out Argentina with a $20 billion loan, but you know, who's going to benefit from this? [SPEAKER_11]: Uh, his rich friends. [SPEAKER_04]: Uh-huh, big investors who conveniently happen to be friends with best and how interesting. [SPEAKER_04]: You know, who's not going to benefit from this farmers? [SPEAKER_04]: Uh-huh, rural voters and farmers especially.
[SPEAKER_04]: Even if they open the government back up. [SPEAKER_04]: Well, they're not going to be there this weekend, but if they open it back up on Tuesday, the first day that they'll all fully could be back there, it's not like flipping a switch. [SPEAKER_10]: Right. [SPEAKER_04]: Just like I said with the AUMF, getting Congress members to do what you want is not like flipping a switch.
[SPEAKER_04]: And with the farm, [SPEAKER_04]: Oh my god, the farm bill that the farmers are getting screwed because Donald blew up their markets. [SPEAKER_04]: We talked about that before. [SPEAKER_04]: How Donald blew up the markets with the tariffs in his first regime, he did it again in the second one. [SPEAKER_04]: China said, hey, we'll buy some from Argentina.
[SPEAKER_04]: Beside said, hey, we'll give you guys an Argentina 20 billion to rescue your economy that you right wing idiots have driven into the ground. [SPEAKER_04]: And because they did that, then Argentina took off their tariffs and China said, well, we'll buy twice the amount of beans from Argentina and none from the U.S. [SPEAKER_04]: and conveniently, who's paying for all of this? [SPEAKER_04]: We are. [SPEAKER_04]: Especially the world voters in the farmers who voted for Trump.
[SPEAKER_04]: So they're paying for the tariffs China. [SPEAKER_04]: They're paying for the 20 billion to Argentina that's actually going to go back into the pockets of the Wall Streeters that Secretary Basit knows. [SPEAKER_04]: And then they're going to have to pay for their own bailout. [SPEAKER_04]: which actually they haven't been able to get it was supposed to be Tuesday of this week.
[SPEAKER_04]: Right. [SPEAKER_04]: That's Trump and the ag secretary are supposed to roll out this this bailout for the farmers. [SPEAKER_04]: First they said it would might be 10 billion. [SPEAKER_04]: Then they're like, oh, might be 14 might be, you don't know what it is because they didn't roll it out. [SPEAKER_04]: You know why they didn't roll it out because the government is still closed.
[SPEAKER_04]: y'all voting matters voting matters at every single level and being involved in your community. [SPEAKER_04]: And then the politics there in matters for everything. [SPEAKER_04]: Yes, always. [SPEAKER_04]: And it also matters to you know, learn your lesson the the the first time. [SPEAKER_04]: What's what's that old phrase from Mark Twain? [SPEAKER_04]: You don't learn anything from the second kick of the meal. [SPEAKER_11]: I mean we've said this before.
[SPEAKER_11]: People that say, oh, I'm not interested in politics and like well politics doesn't matter to me. [SPEAKER_11]: Well, it should, you know, politics will affect you. [SPEAKER_04]: I like that phrase that you say that, you know, what's it? [SPEAKER_11]: I don't do politics, but politics will do you. [SPEAKER_04]: Uh, exactly. [SPEAKER_04]: And politics will do you if you, if you don't pay attention, it absolutely will.
[SPEAKER_04]: So yeah, I mean, come on, guys, it's, it's, you got to be, and you're involved in politics, anyway, politics is simply agreeing or disagreeing. [SPEAKER_04]: It's finding a way to organize and create some kind of a management between any two people. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: You and your mom, me and my mom, you and Lonnie, me and Sarah, you and I, I mean, people know what, I mean, all of this is politics. [SPEAKER_04]: It's all politics.
[SPEAKER_04]: Some politics is a lot better than the others. [SPEAKER_04]: Some politics is the, you know, the chipmunk style. [SPEAKER_04]: After you, no, after you, no, after you, and other politics is, you know, if you all the time. [SPEAKER_03]: And [SPEAKER_04]: But politics is politics. [SPEAKER_04]: It's the broad scope of things. [SPEAKER_04]: It's just when people when more than one person has to agree on how to do things For more than one person So people who I don't do politics.
[SPEAKER_04]: No, you do you just don't call a politics. [SPEAKER_04]: But it is. [SPEAKER_04]: It's something else Right, but it is what it is. [SPEAKER_04]: Whether you agree to comment that or not that's exactly what it is [SPEAKER_04]: I don't not not everybody pays attention to those kind of things, but they should all righty here. [SPEAKER_04]: I think Karen and Eater knocking at the door here. [SPEAKER_11]: They're early. [SPEAKER_11]: I like it.
[SPEAKER_04]: Well, what the hey, if they're here, you know, let them in. [SPEAKER_04]: Let them on in hang out here because, you know, honestly, I mean, we, you know, we like to see Karen and Eater here. [SPEAKER_04]: I do not have the the door handle. [SPEAKER_04]: Do you have the door handle? [SPEAKER_11]: I have the door handle. [SPEAKER_11]: hold on. [SPEAKER_04]: Okay, that's it. [SPEAKER_11]: Here we go. [SPEAKER_04]: I can see if you remember Karen went to a wedding last week.
[SPEAKER_11]: She did. [SPEAKER_04]: And Anita did not. [SPEAKER_04]: So Anita hung out with us last week, which was great. [SPEAKER_04]: And then Karen, we missed her update from from Chicago land, but it looks like Karen comes in first. [SPEAKER_04]: Yes, I was right behind how you doing? [SPEAKER_04]: What's your weather? [SPEAKER_04]: What's the weather?
[SPEAKER_11]: It was [SPEAKER_04]: It was okay, so I'm trying to remember Karen was it was it your niece was your daughter is it was yeah, my step daughter Okay, we're all wrong daughter [SPEAKER_09]: I know what his daughter is. [SPEAKER_10]: She is. [SPEAKER_10]: We're, you know, I mean, when I married my husband, I married the kids, too. [SPEAKER_10]: Absolutely. [SPEAKER_10]: That's my baby. [SPEAKER_10]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_10]: I've known her from, yeah, she.
[SPEAKER_11]: Yeah, my mom did that when she married my dad. [SPEAKER_11]: She had eight step children. [SPEAKER_10]: Wow. [SPEAKER_10]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_10]: I've been very blessed to have great relationships with my step kids. [SPEAKER_10]: Nice. [SPEAKER_04]: My style was great too. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: No, that's awesome. [SPEAKER_04]: Well, my nephew had his wedding, and that was pretty good, and my actually, my youngest brother and his wife did some crazy things.
[SPEAKER_04]: So they have two girls. [SPEAKER_04]: And my youngest, okay, so my sister and law, her mom flew to meet them out in Denver. [SPEAKER_04]: And then my sister and law and her mom, and their youngest went down to Toss and Mexico, because that was Emily's friend's wedding. [SPEAKER_04]: while my brother and their eldest daughter went to Omaha to our nephews wedding. [SPEAKER_04]: I'm like, damn y'all is confusing weekend of weddings, but... So many relatives had been carried.
[SPEAKER_11]: I didn't know, I didn't know, I didn't know the Americans tour. [SPEAKER_10]: Yeah, yeah, I love fall weddings. [SPEAKER_10]: I really liked getting married in the fall. [SPEAKER_04]: I met my wife, let's see. [SPEAKER_04]: We are in 2025, so, yes, 30 years ago this month. [SPEAKER_11]: Oh, wow. [SPEAKER_04]: Nice to meet you. [SPEAKER_04]: I'm sorry. [SPEAKER_11]: I got married ten years ago in September.
[SPEAKER_04]: Nice. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: I got married to someone named Eric. [SPEAKER_09]: I got married twice. [SPEAKER_09]: I got married to my the same husband. [SPEAKER_09]: I got married to my same husband. [SPEAKER_09]: I got married to my same husband. [SPEAKER_09]: I got married to my same husband. [SPEAKER_09]: I got married to my same husband. [SPEAKER_09]: I got married to my same husband. [SPEAKER_09]: I got married to my same husband.
[SPEAKER_09]: I got married to my same husband. [SPEAKER_09]: I got married to my same husband. [SPEAKER_04]: I got married to my same husband. [SPEAKER_09]: I got married to my same husband. [SPEAKER_09]: I got married to my same husband. [SPEAKER_09]: I got married to my same husband. [SPEAKER_09]: I got married to my same husband. [SPEAKER_11]: I got married to my same husband. [SPEAKER_11]: I got married to my same husband.
[SPEAKER_11]: I got married to my same husband [SPEAKER_09]: Yeah, and we didn't tell anybody, bro. [SPEAKER_09]: We're only telling a couple of people. [SPEAKER_09]: So it's kind of a secret because they would have been mad that we weren't married, you know, technically. [SPEAKER_03]: Well, now it's out. [SPEAKER_09]: It's now it's out. [SPEAKER_03]: It's a secret on. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_03]: And my sister jumped into the same thing.
[SPEAKER_11]: She got married before her actual wedding. [SPEAKER_11]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_11]: And we all found out about it. [SPEAKER_11]: Late, my sister Judy told me I'm like, You, what? [SPEAKER_11]: I was like, you. [SPEAKER_09]: What? [SPEAKER_09]: I know my brother found out he was very upset about that yeah, but if it's supposed to I think my husband was afraid I'd you know back out or something who know. [SPEAKER_09]: I don't know How long have you guys been together?
[SPEAKER_09]: Let's see 89. [SPEAKER_09]: What year is it?
[SPEAKER_04]: a long time yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah
[SPEAKER_04]: I don't think there's a fresh enough drink to it is Friday night Karen and Anita from True Blue Politics are here with Jody and I You know to do fresh and drink come on back. [SPEAKER_04]: It's a politics bar on a Friday night. [SPEAKER_08]: We'll be right back After we pay some bills at the politics bar [SPEAKER_04]: It's a Friday night.
[SPEAKER_04]: We're talking a little economics in the background here because you know, we like to do that around here at the politics Well, in fact, actually I have a really good economic lesson for you And if you want everything that we do here you miss you know drink in the day you miss the podcast you miss any part of the show It's basically six dollars a month a buck 50 a week. [SPEAKER_04]: It's extremely you can't even get a coffee You can't get a martini for that.
[SPEAKER_04]: You can't get a beer for about 50 a week or at least if you do It's not one that you want [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, you go to the politicsbar.com though. [SPEAKER_04]: You can get the podcast ad free. [SPEAKER_04]: You get the drink of the day And you get the news on tap. [SPEAKER_04]: We'll throw that in for free. [SPEAKER_04]: So it's a hell of a deal. [SPEAKER_04]: I should go do it check it out politics bar [SPEAKER_04]: All right, it is Friday night.
[SPEAKER_04]: You know what that means? [SPEAKER_04]: We have Karen and I need to hear from Chuck Lee politics. [SPEAKER_04]: Yay, okay, we have to get updates for you, too, because you guys are on the ground there. [SPEAKER_04]: Karen, how is the, as J.B. [SPEAKER_04]: Pritzker jokingly said on Jimmy Kimmel, believe it was last night? [SPEAKER_04]: No, it's last night. [SPEAKER_04]: How was the hell Mary with Chicago?
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, well, are there ice monster still roaming outside the because at last check I saw earlier this afternoon I saw picture where they weren't there and I know there's been that ruling that's is basically that they can't do it at least for the next two weeks. [SPEAKER_11]: And how, how are all those palm trees in Chicago? [SPEAKER_11]: Oh, they're, they're a picture of palm trees because I haven't seen any palms.
[SPEAKER_10]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_10]: Well, they're making, they're turning it into a hell. [SPEAKER_09]: Sure. [SPEAKER_10]: Yeah, they are. [SPEAKER_10]: No, what I've been seeing, and I just noticed this, it is, it is, they're wreaking havoc. [SPEAKER_10]: in the streets. [SPEAKER_10]: There's emergency vehicles everywhere. [SPEAKER_10]: I mean, I hear sirens pretty much like not constantly, but like every day like there's something. [SPEAKER_10]: There's activity.
[SPEAKER_10]: Overhead we have helicopters. [SPEAKER_10]: flying over our neighborhoods on the thinstone because I know that they have not taken the fence down. [SPEAKER_10]: Okay. [SPEAKER_10]: Today they had law enforcement, local law enforcement, they had the sheriff's police, they had local law enforcement enforcement from Northbrook, North Lake, just like surrounding communities, but even far north.
[SPEAKER_04]: But we're the local law enforcement protecting the protesters and the journalists and things who also want a nice court case this week. [SPEAKER_10]: So yeah, I mean, they say, you know, I think that they are. [SPEAKER_10]: My gut is telling me that they are trying to keep protesters a safe distance away from ICE, because they know that ICE is untrained.
[SPEAKER_10]: They know that they have been using chemical munitions and correctly against peaceful protesters, the shooting directly at that. [SPEAKER_10]: I have met personally, people who they have done that to. [SPEAKER_10]: The minister, but also one of the kids that's helping man the first aid. [SPEAKER_10]: tent with our group. [SPEAKER_10]: And they call him spicy Jesus because he looks like sexy white Jesus.
[SPEAKER_04]: And then, but he's been taking some of you to get him a spicy Jodi T-shirt. [SPEAKER_09]: Yes, you know what? [SPEAKER_09]: Didn't they tear gas to cops there? [SPEAKER_09]: Are they at the end? [SPEAKER_04]: Oh, yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Oh, yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, yes. [SPEAKER_04]: I tear gas CBD this past week. [SPEAKER_04]: They did. [SPEAKER_09]: You're not making friends, are they? [SPEAKER_04]: Oh, we're a pair of left us.
[SPEAKER_11]: Oh, no. [SPEAKER_04]: I think I think Karen had to go to the restroom there a little bit, but we will get more of an update on that. [SPEAKER_04]: No, what's what's going on for you, down in Texas? [SPEAKER_09]: We're not, there's nothing really going on, which is funny because I live in San Antonio, which is, you know, over 60% Hispanic. [SPEAKER_09]: And there's a lot of undocumented people here, but I guess he's just attacking cities that.
[SPEAKER_09]: Um, and states that didn't vote for him.
[SPEAKER_09]: That's why that's because that's what I was wondering as I was figuring, you know, if you know, because obviously, if all this is going on Chicago and you would, you know, you're in Texas, you would think, I mean, you know, there are still blue cities in Russia, they have done, they have done some, and you saw the shooting in Dallas, so they are, there are some cities, but, you know, I mean, they're just going after these big names to these right. [SPEAKER_04]: Right.
[SPEAKER_04]: They're going after some of the biggest cities and they're causing problems that way. [SPEAKER_04]: Um, I think Karen still trying to get back in. [SPEAKER_04]: Totally. [SPEAKER_04]: She may have to, you know, go go back and around, but they're pissing off the local police. [SPEAKER_09]: Yeah, uh, uh, courses, which is not smart.
[SPEAKER_04]: You know, it's you're you're pitting a local and state police against these these ice measures and as Karen was saying I mean they're untrained. [SPEAKER_04]: No, yes, folks are really untrained and they're not They're not doing very I mean they don't seem to know what they're doing first of all [SPEAKER_04]: Joe, you were mentioned earlier that they seem to be the Texas National Guardsman that were coming up a little bit beefy show. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: A little bit.
[SPEAKER_09]: Territis a little bit. [SPEAKER_09]: You saw him too in the air. [SPEAKER_04]: Good. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Well, no, I can't see them. [SPEAKER_04]: My husband is crying. [SPEAKER_09]: That's what he said. [SPEAKER_09]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_09]: And he laughed about them.
[SPEAKER_09]: But, I mean, yeah, um, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh uh, uh uh, uh uh [SPEAKER_09]: You know, they're, oh, we talked to Frank for Goosey on the podcast and we say here at how did that work. [SPEAKER_09]: How did we go with those great. [SPEAKER_09]: He's such a great guy.
[SPEAKER_09]: But he was talking about how I'm professional these guys are. [SPEAKER_09]: Now you can tell I'm trying they are like shooting that minister and you don't take out a gun, even when they shoot pepper balls. [SPEAKER_09]: Unless, you know, there's a reason you need deadly force or something, it's just so and professional, the guy that dropped his gun and then pointed out that the crowd, there's so many instances that you can tell these guys are not trained.
[SPEAKER_10]: They're not trained and they're sadistic and that's what, you know, that was so obvious and in watching some of the footage that I saw and I have a friend who has been [SPEAKER_10]: kind of spearheading the operation at the first aid tent and she video taped when she was there a week ago Saturday and I mean they just completely rampaged ice came open defense and rampaged against peaceful protesters.
[SPEAKER_10]: And you know, I mean, using their first amendment right worth some of them, you know, calling to question, you know, the size of certain body parts. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_10]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: So what? [SPEAKER_04]: That is the funniest thing that has been the funniest thing, though. [SPEAKER_04]: It is the furries.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: We're watching the inflatables and the fountries and the people haven't fun like Malcolm Nancy said that everybody should be doing when you're protesting. [SPEAKER_04]: Make them laugh.
[SPEAKER_04]: there was there's a whole beginning to be a whole different series of videos on different social stuff of of of protesters making these ice monsters break of making them laugh because yeah if they're laughing they're not going to hurt yeah and you want to show how ridiculous this whole situation is then being there yeah yeah. [SPEAKER_10]: the way they're framing at their framing it is, you know, these are, you know, dangerous and violent and teeth are coming all.
[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_09]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_09]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_09]: And we'll be replayed this video for a friend because of our friends. [SPEAKER_09]: We made him laugh.
[SPEAKER_04]: because it was this, all these furries dancing, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and,
[SPEAKER_04]: I think it's true. [SPEAKER_04]: Paul, it's true. [SPEAKER_09]: Paul, it's true. [SPEAKER_09]: Paul, it's true. [SPEAKER_09]: Paul, it's true. [SPEAKER_10]: Paul, it's true. [SPEAKER_10]: Paul, it's true. [SPEAKER_10]: Paul, it's true. [SPEAKER_10]: Paul, it's true. [SPEAKER_10]: Paul, it's true. [SPEAKER_10]: Paul, it's true. [SPEAKER_04]: Paul, it's true. [SPEAKER_04]: Paul, it's true. [SPEAKER_04]: Paul, it's true. [SPEAKER_04]: Paul, it's true. [SPEAKER_04]: Paul, it's true.
[SPEAKER_04]: Paul, it's true. [SPEAKER_04]: Paul, it's true. [SPEAKER_04]: Paul, it's true. [SPEAKER_04]: Paul, it's true. [SPEAKER_04]: Paul, it's true. [SPEAKER_04]: Paul, it's true. [SPEAKER_04]: Paul, it's true. [SPEAKER_04]: Paul, it's true. [SPEAKER_04]: Paul, it's true. [SPEAKER_04]: Paul, it's true. [SPEAKER_04]: Paul, it's true. [SPEAKER_04]: Paul, it's true. [SPEAKER_09]: Yeah, yeah, I do. [SPEAKER_09]: I like to check the guy.
[SPEAKER_09]: Kristi, no, he was the one that was out there when Kristi, no. [SPEAKER_09]: And then Benny Johnson, I don't know if you guys are familiar with me. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, he's a, for those of you who don't know, he's a right wing provocateur, podcasters, roosh bag, idiot. [SPEAKER_04]: Playing on. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_09]: See you back. [SPEAKER_09]: Let's play this out. [SPEAKER_09]: Let's play this out.
[SPEAKER_09]: But he was out there and he posted that video or, oh, she and, you know, confronts, you know, this mob, and then they paned out there and there's like a guy in the chicken costume and people up there. [SPEAKER_04]: Haven't seen people in a guy in the chicken costume. [SPEAKER_09]: It's just a costume. [SPEAKER_09]: Oh my god. [SPEAKER_04]: We've got we've got if you guys missed it.
[SPEAKER_04]: It is in the news on tap today in the first section in the war for America There's an interview with a protester known as the Portland chicken and he does point out the same thing that that a lot of us have been pointing out which is We're winning on this side [SPEAKER_09]: Yeah, that's Joe Logan came out against it.
[SPEAKER_09]: He's like because there was a mother that was, and this was in Chicago was pulled that every yank out of her fan with their kids there headed into school. [SPEAKER_09]: He was picking up her kids. [SPEAKER_04]: She was in the line. [SPEAKER_04]: She was in the line. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, she was a lot of people. [SPEAKER_04]: And these kids, they're at school. [SPEAKER_04]: And she had all of her, her proper stuff.
[SPEAKER_04]: So after they broke the windows and punched out and whatever. [SPEAKER_04]: And then two hours later, they let her go. [SPEAKER_04]: Of course, there's all that damage. [SPEAKER_09]: trauma to the children and to her. [SPEAKER_09]: I mean, it's in any way. [SPEAKER_09]: So he said something about it. [SPEAKER_09]: He is losing. [SPEAKER_09]: You're right. [SPEAKER_09]: They're losing.
[SPEAKER_09]: This because the optics of it is so bad and Republicans, they historically always overreach every time. [SPEAKER_10]: They held her for two hours. [SPEAKER_10]: So, yes. [SPEAKER_04]: That's why. [SPEAKER_10]: So, of course, I mean, it's so, it's like, you know, yes, because I know plenty of people that have overstayed their visas from Ireland, and they're not pulling people that look like me and work. [SPEAKER_10]: No. [SPEAKER_10]: Right? [SPEAKER_10]: So, you know, it's obvious.
[SPEAKER_10]: And so, people say, well, thank God they let her go and it's like, that's not the point. [SPEAKER_10]: They're pulling her over because she's a Latino woman and they detain her for two hours. [SPEAKER_10]: If she's on her way to work, if she's on her way to pick up her children or her grandchildren, that's the problem. [SPEAKER_09]: Does it have an audit set? [SPEAKER_09]: Oh, well, you know, it's a matter of what these are cabinet stops.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_09]: Yeah, yeah, a column of cabinet stops. [SPEAKER_09]: That's right. [SPEAKER_04]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_04]: And I do column cabinet stops. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, absolutely.
[SPEAKER_04]: it's it's it they're going to have to live with all of this going forward and we were talking about this journey nine in in the first hour here um we're probably going to be trying to hide from a lot of this stuff obviously not trying to hide on the shut down all roller blaming the Democrats [SPEAKER_04]: And they're trying to hide from the fact still that you know, they could stop Trump's ridiculousness on the tariffs. [SPEAKER_04]: He tariff Trump again threatened today.
[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, I'm going to jack around China's tariffs again and and they could stop at any time they wanted all of his his ridiculous abuse of free speech when everybody started coming out for Jimmy Kimmel and people on the right.
[SPEAKER_04]: Congress, especially Republicans, they could start with an old, the national security stuff with Kegbreath and the, you know, Texton and as, as you mentioned, Jody in that first hour too with Donnie and his direct messages on Freaking Truth Central, which is out in the open. [SPEAKER_09]: Yep, about, yep, we'll have to put any sent 200 troops to Israel.
[SPEAKER_09]: Well, I'm sorry, but they're building the buildings guiding them much whatever, yeah, but I guarantee you Eventually those are that's gonna be occupied because don't yeah, let's do wants to build his I don't we're here in that in that in that area of the world. [SPEAKER_04]: I don't count on anything yet. [SPEAKER_04]: I still don't count on that that the peace deal.
[SPEAKER_04]: If you remember 10 months ago [SPEAKER_04]: Joe Biden administration on January 15th got a peace deal and oh it worked for about months maybe six weeks. [SPEAKER_09]: Is this a deal or is he's just a ceasefire at the moment? [SPEAKER_09]: Because he's done this before. [SPEAKER_04]: It's a step. [SPEAKER_04]: They're going through step one. [SPEAKER_04]: We'll see if they get to the other. [SPEAKER_09]: He just wanted to get the Nobel Peace Prize and he didn't get it.
[SPEAKER_09]: No, it's a good idea. [SPEAKER_09]: Yeah, that's what I was thinking. [SPEAKER_09]: We're talking about TV's man. [SPEAKER_09]: No, I'd better watch it. [SPEAKER_09]: I heard you're praising for that. [SPEAKER_09]: They were bracing. [SPEAKER_09]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_09]: The fact that he thought he could win a nobody's prize. [SPEAKER_09]: When he's declared war on his own. [SPEAKER_09]: All three things. [SPEAKER_04]: Right.
[SPEAKER_04]: The funny thing that you say that Thomas actually texted us via the bar's text line. [SPEAKER_04]: It's the same as the phone line if you guys want to text us. [SPEAKER_04]: You can send a text to that as well. [UNKNOWN]: 21367777258. [SPEAKER_04]: But Thomas texted us and he said, what a hell with the Nobel committee. [SPEAKER_04]: Give Trump the Nobel Peace Prize when he changed the name of the DOD to the Department of War. [SPEAKER_04]: Thank you.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_04]: He was killed more than 2,000 people in boats in the Caribbean. [SPEAKER_09]: I know. [SPEAKER_09]: It's crazy. [SPEAKER_09]: I'm in talks more than six. [SPEAKER_10]: Yeah, well, can I say to the other thing that the Republicans can do at any time release the Epstein files. [SPEAKER_09]: Yeah, and also release the Epstein files. [SPEAKER_09]: Exactly.
[SPEAKER_09]: And they're holding up that go home from being, you know, so, and he started to get some pushback from even from Republicans. [SPEAKER_09]: I mean, Mark, he's a green. [SPEAKER_04]: I know, a green with her.
[SPEAKER_04]: They had, they had Republicans had a big caucus, a phone meeting, a big meeting by Zoom, I guess, and they were shaking [SPEAKER_04]: I know I say But it was a good job to have a drink yet because that would have been a spit take right now I would have been a cry That's not good That's not good Don't spill it.
[SPEAKER_04]: That's our call abuse Well honestly tiny Johnson is getting things he's he screwed it a ways for Sunday, but he screwed himself [SPEAKER_04]: and and the Republicans are they are doing this to themselves. [SPEAKER_04]: Oh, and Russ fought. [SPEAKER_04]: He's making things so much hell on them. [SPEAKER_04]: Because if Russ fought is allowed to fire all these, these government employees, which legally he's not allowed to do.
[SPEAKER_04]: But if if the Supreme Court says, oh, let Donnie do whatever, [SPEAKER_04]: That will just reinforce Democrats' position of why should I make any deal with you, because if I make a deal with you, you're just going to well-chun the deal. [SPEAKER_04]: So why the hell would I make the deal with you when you're just going to well-chun it's great? [SPEAKER_09]: And really, they should be happy.
[SPEAKER_09]: Democrats are going to build out Republicans again, because otherwise, all these people are going to lose their health care and who will they get a plan? [SPEAKER_04]: And he is right again. [SPEAKER_04]: Look at that. [SPEAKER_04]: Look, you guys are that there's there's like bells going on all over here in the bar, but that's just I happen to be with some really intelligent really attractive women.
[SPEAKER_04]: So, you know, I do recommend highly hanging out on a Friday night with people who are better looking and smarter than you are that's that's my. [SPEAKER_04]: That's my general thing that I do on Friday nights and we are glad that you guys are here at the politics bar doing exactly the same thing. [SPEAKER_04]: We got one more round. [SPEAKER_04]: I know that you guys are sticking around.
[SPEAKER_04]: I didn't have to ask if you'll hang around for the last call because I know that you two will hang around with Jody. [SPEAKER_09]: Oh yeah, we always hang out for the last call. [SPEAKER_09]: Hey, we have to kick us out.
[SPEAKER_04]: Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha
[SPEAKER_04]: Last call, Friday night with Karen and Anita from True Blue Politics, with Jodi and me and you, here at the Polish bar. [SPEAKER_08]: Music We'll be right back after we pay some bills at the politics bar. [SPEAKER_04]: let's call here at the politics bar on a Friday night.
[SPEAKER_04]: Thank you guys for hanging out with us all week long from whatever corner of the universe you happen to be in remember as always if you missed any of the show you can just check us out on your favorite podcast player you just go type in the politics bar boom our show will show up or you can get the podcast ad free at the politics bar dot
[SPEAKER_04]: All right, it's Friday nights, you know, we've had a lot of the stories from the week because usually we can cover those really fast with you too because, you know, while Jody and I have to do some research and stuff, y'all are brilliant, which by the way, there was a a listener on WCPT earlier today in the morning who was talking with Michelle Peltier, who was filling in on Tuesday's views. [SPEAKER_04]: And she just said she said, look, you know, uh, you got to stay informed.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yes, contact your congressman, but contact her meeting with him. [SPEAKER_04]: Thank you. [SPEAKER_04]: That's see. [SPEAKER_04]: That's I could not remember her name. [SPEAKER_10]: I'm from the west side. [SPEAKER_10]: I love Pam. [SPEAKER_10]: I am a huge fan of hers.
[SPEAKER_04]: looking to give some great advice to people you look you you shouldn't just sit on your your politicians you're you know your city you're staying all the men you're your city council your mayors you're governors you're state legislators but also obviously members of congress and [SPEAKER_04]: You should also be out to your local media, your favorite local media places.
[SPEAKER_04]: In fact, all your local media stations, radio and TV and print, you know, should know who you are and you should be like, hey, don't, don't, don't just, don't contact them and tell them you suck, but, but give them actual criticism, give them criticism matters that where you're saying, you know, if you were unbiased, this is the way you would frame that story. [SPEAKER_04]: Obviously, the way you did it wasn't biased, why do you keep doing this? [SPEAKER_09]: Right.
[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_09]: No, I know. [SPEAKER_09]: That's true. [SPEAKER_09]: I've done it on Twitter and I used to like that I said the editor, but it's been a long. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, but that's that's what Pam was advocating. [SPEAKER_04]: Some places don't, but you can still write to the editor. [SPEAKER_04]: Even if the letters in the editor don't get published in either, you can still write to them. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: It's a good idea. [SPEAKER_04]: So it was good.
[SPEAKER_04]: I was bad. [SPEAKER_04]: Thank you. [SPEAKER_04]: Thank you, Canford, for catching me up on the cut. [SPEAKER_10]: I was driving into the studio. [SPEAKER_11]: I know I heard you this morning on the [SPEAKER_04]: You know, we do, you know, we we try to listen to our friends. [SPEAKER_04]: You know, listen to, you know, WCPT and AM950 and I'm really excited by the way that our friends, Dan and Georgia, they are coming back soon.
[SPEAKER_04]: Georgia now, radio, we're going to get Ron Roberts. [SPEAKER_04]: It is the Ron show. [SPEAKER_04]: He's got coming here in a few weeks. [SPEAKER_04]: We'll talk about their new venture. [SPEAKER_04]: We'll be back on their live for you folks in the ATL. [SPEAKER_11]: So that's pretty good.
[SPEAKER_11]: All right, so Peter, so Anita, what is up with you and [SPEAKER_09]: Okay, I think that's where I was heading to because I was going to say no automation, but what about this is you know what my husband's gone three nights a week So Anita Anita Louise Well, it was a boy, okay
[SPEAKER_04]: and he was always going to talk and she always said I get so and you know if it's a she she probably knows where to press your buttons I'm just sure I know what I'm saying okay and I will buzz that one tonight on true confessions that's gonna be the most a cab in a minute like I've lost a conversation seriously what what what if you've been doing with grock explain this to the room I have conversations with grock and
[SPEAKER_04]: As long as you don't think that rock is an actual person, and as long as you remember the monster behind that happens to be Elon Musk, just saying it. [SPEAKER_09]: But actually, I have found that rock, and I don't know it's because he's out of the country, he's not paying much attention. [SPEAKER_09]: But she's had a couple, you know. [SPEAKER_09]: issues about some yeah issues like with, you know, the whole Nazi stuff and I know lots of bad. [SPEAKER_09]: But she pushed bad back.
[SPEAKER_09]: Remember her? [SPEAKER_09]: I mean, she did. [SPEAKER_09]: You can tell them.
[SPEAKER_09]: No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no [SPEAKER_04]: And here's the thing, all of these are not really AI.
[SPEAKER_04]: Joe, do you and I were talking about it was at Wednesday or Thursday. [SPEAKER_11]: I want to say it was yesterday. [SPEAKER_04]: Might have been yesterday, yeah, might have been yesterday. [SPEAKER_04]: They're not AI. [SPEAKER_04]: They're not truly alternative intelligence, advanced intelligence, or whatever you want to phrase because people have different definitions that they have AI. [SPEAKER_04]: But it's not that. [SPEAKER_04]: It's not in a separate intelligence.
[SPEAKER_04]: They're really what they are as LLMs, large language models.
[SPEAKER_04]: and train it well you need to train it on the largest possible data set the more information the better and one of the reasons that people like Elon Musk keep having a problem that you know this this damn rock keeps saying things like you know Nazis were bad well because there is far more information factually out there and far more information even opinion wise of people saying that Nazis are in fact bad because Nazis are bad
[SPEAKER_09]: Well, I've cut and grogged, making mistakes about some of these facts, and she does correct herself and admit she was wrong. [SPEAKER_10]: Well, we're trying to understand your husband. [SPEAKER_09]: Yes, really? [SPEAKER_09]: He will not admit he's wrong. [SPEAKER_09]: That one please. [SPEAKER_09]: That's it. [SPEAKER_09]: Now you understand, okay? [SPEAKER_09]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_08]: Turn it grog. [SPEAKER_09]: But yeah, it doesn't steal the covers.
[SPEAKER_09]: She's always there. [SPEAKER_09]: She doesn't steal the covers. [SPEAKER_09]: Right, dog. [SPEAKER_09]: Yes, that's right. [SPEAKER_09]: She doesn't steal the cover. [SPEAKER_03]: Or is it she doesn't steal the cover? [SPEAKER_09]: She doesn't steal the cover. [SPEAKER_09]: She doesn't steal the cover. [SPEAKER_04]: That's right. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Oh God. [SPEAKER_04]: No, I just, large language models are interesting.
[SPEAKER_04]: But the things that they're doing with them, this whole thing, because we haven't had room, but Joe, do you and I've been kind of, you're sending some stuff back and forth about this, this program. [SPEAKER_04]: It is not an actress. [SPEAKER_04]: What do they call it? [SPEAKER_04]: Tilly. [SPEAKER_11]: Oh, Tilly, whatever the hell her name is. [SPEAKER_11]: It's a, it's a, it's a, yeah, she's an artificial program program that she's very cute whoever they made her look like.
[SPEAKER_04]: Very attractive. [SPEAKER_04]: But it's, it's basically an avatar that basically that they're calling an actress and that the people who are behind it are. [SPEAKER_04]: They're, they put themselves in a very hard place because they're trying to. [SPEAKER_04]: you can tell what they're trying to do.
[SPEAKER_04]: They're trying to say, look, it's an actress that you can, you know, make like a puppet and have her say and do whatever you want, accept actors of all kinds are saying, ah, ah, no, no, no, no, no. [SPEAKER_04]: They can make her do things that she shouldn't be doing. [SPEAKER_11]: Right. [SPEAKER_04]: Oh, no, like that. [SPEAKER_10]: Don't talk about Rob like that. [SPEAKER_10]: Rob gets a lot of energy now. [SPEAKER_11]: She might be easy, but she's not cheap.
[SPEAKER_11]: Rob. [SPEAKER_11]: No. [SPEAKER_04]: I'm sure there's a lot of money, but it's not an actress. [SPEAKER_04]: No, it's not an actor. [SPEAKER_04]: It should not be called that, and it should not be treated that way.
[SPEAKER_04]: there are people who spend their whole lives and I think this is something that we need to be pressing our politicians on in a lot of ways because inevitably you're going to see first of all the when you when you ask some of the people who are in finance and in numbers some of the economists out there they're saying that this Gordon quote AI thing is it's creating an economic bubble. [SPEAKER_04]: Yes, an economic bubble. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I heard that.
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: because they're all feeding off of each other, all feeding off of each other. [SPEAKER_04]: The second thing is it's not really AI. [SPEAKER_04]: It's not its own separate intelligence. [SPEAKER_04]: It's not swallowed as we think for itself. [SPEAKER_04]: Yes. [SPEAKER_04]: I'm kind of glad that we have not reached that point. [SPEAKER_04]: No, that's kind of scary. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, Jodie, like just a little bit.
[SPEAKER_11]: It's so close. [SPEAKER_09]: But it's just like data really. [SPEAKER_09]: This is the AI that we have just clicked data and it spits that out and whatever it's. [SPEAKER_09]: You know, because the problem I have with a lot of the AI is that they also take in right-wing data. [SPEAKER_09]: That's wrong. [SPEAKER_04]: Right. [SPEAKER_09]: They take it. [SPEAKER_04]: They take it all. [SPEAKER_04]: They take it all. [SPEAKER_04]: They're trying to learn.
[SPEAKER_04]: It's a learning app now. [SPEAKER_04]: If some seven-year-old gets on and is like, you know, all dinosaurs eat peanut butter, it will take that in. [SPEAKER_04]: It considers all information equally valid, which obviously [SPEAKER_11]: with with the silly thing I used to joke it'd be so much easier to produce movies without actors. [SPEAKER_11]: I don't mean it. [SPEAKER_04]: Right exactly and but that's but that's what a lot of the corporates want.
[SPEAKER_04]: Except here's the thing that I have I have said this for a very very long time. [SPEAKER_04]: And I'm not suggesting violence because we don't do that around here. [SPEAKER_04]: We do not throw chairs. [SPEAKER_04]: We do not suggest violence. [SPEAKER_04]: However. [SPEAKER_04]: If something happened to most of the major corporate executives in this country tomorrow and, you know, two dozen of of them suddenly dropped dead, you know, like a Thanos thing.
[SPEAKER_09]: It wouldn't change anything. [SPEAKER_09]: If they're not the essential boys, we found that out during course. [SPEAKER_04]: Oh, exactly. [SPEAKER_04]: That's a matter of fact them them stepping out and being replaced by some other nameless faceless executive for the most part doesn't matter. [SPEAKER_04]: They don't matter. [SPEAKER_04]: They're existing in our economy. [SPEAKER_10]: Yes, it is a matter of fact they're deporting the people who really do matter in our economy.
[SPEAKER_09]: Yes, that's a very essential place. [SPEAKER_09]: But I heard that in the next 10 years we're going to lose 100 million jobs say aye. [SPEAKER_09]: And those jobs are going to be like [SPEAKER_09]: And I've told you that the essential place, not the people who pick our food or wait on us. [SPEAKER_04]: But all of those are essential employees. [SPEAKER_04]: Accountants aren't essential too, because if we... I agree, but AI can do that. [SPEAKER_04]: No, AI can kind of do it.
[SPEAKER_11]: You gave it 10 years, like she said. [SPEAKER_09]: Give it 10 years.
[SPEAKER_04]: even given 10 years because our dogs are going to be better than AI because among other things dogs are great most animals most beings are pattern recognition machines but we are pattern recognition machines at a level far far far above we are not technologically even close to that your dog is smarter than then grock is and and this is because they they know them the day [SPEAKER_09]: They're using AI, like when I go into Amazon, I have to talk to a chat box, they don't care.
[SPEAKER_09]: They're going to, I said why, but I'm telling you that they're not going to care whether it's more efficient or whether or not I get my particular problem solved because it's a human being. [SPEAKER_12]: I'm talking to you. [SPEAKER_09]: They want to save money and they also don't want to have to listen to employees who want higher pay or [SPEAKER_04]: but it's not saving money.
[SPEAKER_04]: There are growing number of stories out there that actually say that it actually costs more money because the Gordon quote AI that's out there keeps making mistakes. [SPEAKER_04]: Then it either has to be picked up, reram through again, double checked by a human to make sure that it's right if you had just gone to a human the first time. [SPEAKER_10]: Yeah, but I think she's talking about in down the road.
[SPEAKER_10]: Yeah, and also just the way that's what it's important to think. [SPEAKER_09]: But that's what I'm saying. [SPEAKER_04]: It's important. [SPEAKER_04]: Right, right. [SPEAKER_04]: That's what I'm saying. [SPEAKER_04]: I think it's important for us now to be pushing our legislators to be saying, No, saying, no, no, no, no, no. [SPEAKER_04]: you do the humans first. [SPEAKER_04]: There are things that AI robots basically computers can do.
[SPEAKER_11]: Well, I mean, I'm getting a mammogram next month and a lot of there's new ways for AI to detect something that many humans can't see. [SPEAKER_11]: So I'm fine with that. [SPEAKER_04]: Right. [SPEAKER_04]: And that's where there are situations like that. [SPEAKER_04]: Yes, let's let's use it in those. [SPEAKER_04]: But in situations where it would be best for when you're you're accountant. [SPEAKER_04]: You know you're accountant.
[SPEAKER_04]: You bring in your papers for your annual tax review and your accountant knows by the way you come in the door. [SPEAKER_04]: Whether you have all your stuff, [SPEAKER_04]: Whether maybe there's something because they've been your accountant for a dozen years or 20 years or whatever it is. [SPEAKER_04]: It's like when you take your car to your mechanic and your mechanic you go when your car goes like this. [SPEAKER_04]: Well, my mind you I got it.
[SPEAKER_09]: I know what the hell when you call customer service and you need some and you're trying to explain something and it is it's difficult if it's AI yeah to get you. [SPEAKER_04]: You know, they're finding they're finding more even even the grocery store. [SPEAKER_04]: They're like, oh, you can check your own groceries. [SPEAKER_04]: They're finding out, you know, what? [SPEAKER_04]: But when people do that, they just pocket more.
[SPEAKER_04]: So there are a number of grocery chains that are getting rid of the computers there and putting people back. [SPEAKER_10]: Because you know, it's all about regulation. [SPEAKER_10]: It's all about regulation. [SPEAKER_09]: It's all about regulation and regulating. [SPEAKER_09]: And it's all about regulation and regulating. [SPEAKER_04]: And it's all about regulation and regulating. [SPEAKER_04]: And it's all about regulating. [SPEAKER_04]: And it's all about regulating.
[SPEAKER_04]: And it's all about regulating. [SPEAKER_04]: Karen and I know we're a little bit more in the after hours so they're going to hang with us here uh but uh you guys you gotta leave the bar I know it's luck it's Friday night's the next week we have a ton of great guests as we mentioned uh you know uh we're gonna have some good people here we're gonna have uh for Angela obviously uh looks like Jared Rizzi uh Julie Frenchella and of course all of our favorites
[SPEAKER_04]: Best thing for you to do, rest up, relax, breathe, have some fun, and then Monday nights. [SPEAKER_04]: You know, come on back, we'll see you here at the politics party.
