[SPEAKER_01]: It's political. [SPEAKER_03]: Thank you, radical. [SPEAKER_03]: Don't think at the far away, but you are the politics bar. [SPEAKER_01]: Shot Smith Pearson, Jody Hamilton.
[SPEAKER_02]: Show me, show me, show me, show me, show me, show me, show me, show me, show me, show me, show me, show me, show me, show me, show me, show me, show me, show me, show me, show me, show me, show me, show me, show me, show me, show me, show me, show me, show me, show me, show me, show me, show me, show me, show me, show me, show me, show me, show me, show me, show me, show me, show me, show me, show me, show me, show me, show me, show me, show me, show me, show me, show me, show me, show me, show me, show me, show me, show me, show me, show me, show me, show me, show me, show me, show me, show me, show me, show me, show me, show me, show me, show me, show me, show
[SPEAKER_02]: I told you people, there are some things I like in sports. [SPEAKER_02]: I'm not, you know, I don't know all the details about everything, but I'm glad it's especially when it's my team and my Huskers men and women doing excellent today. [SPEAKER_02]: So obviously we'll talk a little about the NCAA. [SPEAKER_02]: We'll talk a little bit more about entertainment and news today. [SPEAKER_02]: There's some media stuff you guys need to know.
[SPEAKER_02]: Of course, we'll talk about Donnie's wars, current, and potentially future. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: If you like Cuba, congratulations, you're not going to like that, anyway. [SPEAKER_02]: Well, we'll talk about it. [SPEAKER_12]: We're not going to happen. [SPEAKER_12]: It's not going to happen. [SPEAKER_02]: Well, things are going to happen, but it all depends on whether they do how much credit they take forward in any, well, we'll talk about it in the news on tap.
[SPEAKER_02]: Thank you by the way for everybody who is joining us from whatever radio affiliate you happen to be listening to us on whether you are listening on WCPTA, M820, Chicago, or maybe Georgia now radio in Atlanta and the Georgia area. [SPEAKER_02]: Maybe you are listening on AM-950 Minneapolis, A. Paul, or you're listening on the detour talk in Tennessee, or progressive voices radio worldwide, including on the space station.
[SPEAKER_02]: Because, you know, it's part of the world, at least it's [SPEAKER_12]: It's above it. [SPEAKER_12]: It's near the atmosphere. [SPEAKER_02]: It's in the atmosphere. [SPEAKER_02]: It's orbiting. [SPEAKER_02]: There you go. [SPEAKER_02]: Wherever you happen to be, we're glad you're listening. [SPEAKER_02]: Thank you, by the way, to all you Fiatro people as well.
[SPEAKER_02]: If you are listening on your favorite podcast player or you're listening at the politicsbar.com, look, it's the 20th of the month. [SPEAKER_02]: It's a new season. [SPEAKER_02]: You only got a few more days to do March, Mathness. [SPEAKER_02]: I know, some of you are like, God, that's just so cheesy. [SPEAKER_02]: four weeks in a month, do the math, a buck 50 a week, that's $6, right?
[SPEAKER_02]: But if you have five weeks like we do this month, it has to be less than a buck 50 a week. [SPEAKER_02]: Plus, of course, if you do it annually, it's cheaper that way anyway. [SPEAKER_02]: But look, check it out. [SPEAKER_02]: You can go get the details of the politics bar.com. [SPEAKER_02]: How's the weather where you are today, Jodie? [SPEAKER_12]: A bazillion degrees. [SPEAKER_02]: You know why it's so hot. [SPEAKER_02]: It's because you and Lani are out there, the politics bar.
[SPEAKER_02]: Thank you, Lani. [SPEAKER_02]: See, he's, you're not telling me that Lani's not hot. [SPEAKER_12]: I mean, Lani's way prettier than I am. [SPEAKER_12]: What are you talking about? [SPEAKER_02]: Have you seen him? [SPEAKER_02]: I have seen him. [SPEAKER_02]: I think you are equally pretty. [SPEAKER_12]: Thank you. [SPEAKER_12]: That's very sweet. [SPEAKER_12]: It's like it's I remember when I first saw Roblo is like, I couldn't go out with that guy.
[SPEAKER_12]: Even though I wanted to He's too pretty. [SPEAKER_02]: Well, aren't you glad you didn't go out with Roblo? [SPEAKER_12]: Rob is a good man. [SPEAKER_12]: He's a good man. [SPEAKER_02]: Okay, he's a good man now, but back in the day he was, yeah, that's what I'm saying. [SPEAKER_12]: No, but when he was dating Melissa Gilbert and stuff, no, he, he, my brother Joe credits himself with introducing Rob to his current wife. [SPEAKER_12]: And I said that to him at an event.
[SPEAKER_12]: I was like to remember my brother Joey guys. [SPEAKER_12]: Yeah, I totally remember your brother Joe cuz Joe kept Kept Rob sober and Christian Slater sober nice for a while on and off because Joey was not on and off. [SPEAKER_12]: He was very good at keeping others sober, but not himself [SPEAKER_12]: I haven't. [SPEAKER_12]: He was really good that way and so he met Rob and I think Joe had a crush on Rob's now wife. [SPEAKER_07]: Oh, okay.
[SPEAKER_12]: And I think that's the story. [SPEAKER_12]: God. [SPEAKER_12]: And he said and then Rob came in and I introduced her to Rob and and Rob goes, that's not quite how I remember it, but I do remember your brother. [SPEAKER_02]: Well, look, I think your brother, with our drink of the day today, we've got it as a cocktail or a cocktail. [SPEAKER_02]: And any of you who are out there, we try to do the mock tales as much as we can.
[SPEAKER_02]: So we'll get to that a little bit later, too. [SPEAKER_02]: I suppose we should get to the news on tap, even though we are all really sick of this dumb ass war.
[SPEAKER_02]: this is just the stupidest one I just no reason there's no reason I keep calling at the dumbest war or the stupidest war because it is and you are correct there is no real reason for this dumbass thing we do have the live update today coming from the Guardian and rolling around on this down on the again called the NATO allies cowards how dare you not come in and risk yourself and or you know why won't you give me your toys so I can blow them up [SPEAKER_12]: Okay.
[SPEAKER_12]: NATO is a defensive thing. [SPEAKER_12]: It is not an offensive thing, which is why Russia doesn't they think it's offensive. [SPEAKER_02]: And of course Putin is wrong. [SPEAKER_12]: And he is wrong. [SPEAKER_12]: And so Putin has told him that they will help you fight a war.
[SPEAKER_12]: Ninit. [SPEAKER_02]: Well, Donald just thinks, Donald thinks that's how loyalty and groups work is everyone does what he wants, but he doesn't have to do [SPEAKER_02]: That, that, that doesn't work. [SPEAKER_12]: Well, and that's why I think Iran will never hit a NATO country. [SPEAKER_02]: No, well, because they know better. [SPEAKER_02]: Hopefully not. [SPEAKER_12]: No, they won't, you know why, because they know better.
[SPEAKER_02]: They like, well, at least if they did, they'd be like, we're sorry, we're sorry, we didn't mean it. [SPEAKER_12]: That was, it was a, Aaron missile didn't mean to hit you. [SPEAKER_12]: Pulling, we didn't mean to hit you, Germany, you know, it's. [SPEAKER_02]: But this is, this is all just continually stupid. [SPEAKER_02]: Iran hit a Kuwaiti refinery. [SPEAKER_02]: Israel killed Iranian guards. [SPEAKER_02]: Israel is killing a bunch of people in Lebanon. [SPEAKER_02]: I know.
[SPEAKER_02]: Let me run the numbers for you today. [SPEAKER_02]: National average price of gasoline is now at 393.9 so basically 394 a gallon which would actually make it up a full dollar from a month ago. [SPEAKER_02]: Diesel is now 516 a gallon up a dollar and 47 cents from a month ago. [SPEAKER_02]: Combined spending on gasoline and diesel according to Patrick [SPEAKER_02]: Every single day, two big oil, then we were a month ago.
[SPEAKER_12]: I told you about the gas station about a half mile from my house. [SPEAKER_12]: Supreme Unlettered is at 699. [SPEAKER_12]: Now, by my house, it's at 599. [SPEAKER_02]: All those people, by the way, who have EVs and PHEVs, plug-in hybrids? [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, which we have a plug-in hybrid, which is great. [SPEAKER_02]: But it's, I mean, [SPEAKER_02]: And of course, Donald, undercut all of those with all these stupid, no greens, that sucks.
[SPEAKER_12]: Yeah, he's, um, China's very smart about that. [SPEAKER_02]: Oh yeah, we we can talk more about that too. [SPEAKER_02]: And the the imports into China with the cars there are some other numbers we need to look at though because we're looking at the cost of the war. [SPEAKER_02]: It's not just at the gas pump.
[SPEAKER_02]: Deaths in the region in the Gulf region somewhere between 2330 100 deaths depending on what numbers you look adding mostly civilians actually over a thousand people killed in Lebanon all of those by Israel congratulations. [SPEAKER_02]: That's nice. [SPEAKER_02]: Israel is only lost about 14 or 15 people, but those are all from Iranian missile fire.
[SPEAKER_02]: The U.S. has lost 13 military service members, and there are somewhere between 18 and 20,000 injuries in the Persian Gulf region in just 21 days. [SPEAKER_02]: Congratulations, Donnie. [SPEAKER_02]: Well done. [SPEAKER_02]: Look at all the people you have screwed. [SPEAKER_12]: How to create more people that hate this country. [SPEAKER_02]: This is why I'm like, that's Donald. [SPEAKER_02]: That's not this country. [SPEAKER_02]: That's him.
[SPEAKER_02]: The biggest single reason that Donald Trump and his moron minions are in charge is because good people sat at home and did nothing. [SPEAKER_02]: I'm sorry for nothing. [SPEAKER_11]: Because they didn't want to black lady who had a weird laugh, which I like her laugh. [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, I can laugh, and I'm sorry. [SPEAKER_02]: I will never, ever, ever forgive the people who voted for him once, right? [SPEAKER_02]: I will give them clearance.
[SPEAKER_02]: I will let them on the bus as we as our metaphor around here is. [SPEAKER_02]: You can hop on the bus and that's fine. [SPEAKER_12]: But you got to get in the back. [SPEAKER_12]: Mm-hmm. [SPEAKER_12]: Can't drive. [SPEAKER_02]: Sit down. [SPEAKER_02]: You got to shut up. [SPEAKER_02]: Get a lesson. [SPEAKER_02]: Pay attention. [SPEAKER_02]: Mm-hmm. [SPEAKER_02]: Because I'm sorry.
[SPEAKER_02]: But the million-plus people that your actions caused with the death, with all the deaths from COVID, the thousands of people that have been killed because of some of the actions USAID. [SPEAKER_02]: And now this other war, I'm sorry. [SPEAKER_02]: But if you're one of those people, you could have voted for Kamala and you didn't. [SPEAKER_02]: You could have voted for a Democratic member of House in the Senate and you said, well, I don't know about that or I'm a board or I forgot.
[SPEAKER_02]: um... congratulations uh... there's a whole uh... you are drip and drip and in blood and i really have no sympathy for you eggs cost too much gas and it was two fifty a gallon uh-huh well you know if you got off your ass and done things correctly and you as we say rabbit pills or you smarter yet i don't want to get in touch with my old friend
[SPEAKER_02]: if you don't like eating crap here's the thing do something to make sure you don't have to eat crap and that's really what in many ways that's what they're doing which I [SPEAKER_02]: I'm sorry, I, you know, I will forever be mad about that. [SPEAKER_02]: It's not like I'm going to be raving, angry, you know, like, you know, the hook all the time.
[SPEAKER_02]: But it is the fact that I won't forget that I'll be, you know, if I live to be 120, I won't forget it, just because of the fact that it's like there are a lot of other things. [SPEAKER_02]: We could have been in a whole different other world than we are now. [SPEAKER_02]: There's a whole lot better. [SPEAKER_02]: And because some of y'all folks went, well, I don't know if a woman would win. [SPEAKER_12]: I'm just going to go with Ralph Nader in 2000.
[SPEAKER_12]: We could go back to that. [SPEAKER_02]: Oh yeah, there's, believe me, we can go back. [SPEAKER_02]: But we're going to go try and go forward. [SPEAKER_02]: We obviously, we ran down the cost of war, including the fact that, um, [SPEAKER_02]: Donald's making it worse. [SPEAKER_02]: So Trump kept the press away from the most recent dignified transfer. [SPEAKER_12]: But he still had his official photographers there. [SPEAKER_02]: Well, yeah.
[SPEAKER_02]: Cook a Caroline said the families refused press coverage, but they didn't refuse a photographer. [SPEAKER_02]: This is, that's how she split the baby. [SPEAKER_02]: Not hers. [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, but you know, metaphorically speaking. [SPEAKER_02]: And so what? [SPEAKER_02]: I died. [SPEAKER_02]: It was close. [SPEAKER_12]: She's pregnant at the moment. [SPEAKER_02]: I know that, but anyway, fine. [SPEAKER_02]: Okay, fine.
[SPEAKER_02]: So the person over here pointing to me still in the bar, fine, there's your buzzer, have a nice one. [SPEAKER_02]: Anyway, so, anyway, Donald posted those on social media, though, or actually more likely, Caroline posted those on social media. [SPEAKER_12]: Well, the heck said they're whomever, does it really matter? [SPEAKER_02]: Well, and there are a father of one of the service U.S. service members killed in a ran confirmed that hexeth lied.
[SPEAKER_02]: He was saying that, you know, well, these family people said, oh, you need to go finish the job. [SPEAKER_02]: And the father's like, I never said that. [SPEAKER_12]: No. [SPEAKER_02]: Close. [SPEAKER_12]: Do that. [SPEAKER_12]: No. [SPEAKER_12]: This is not, uh, it's, it's not World War II. [SPEAKER_02]: No, this is not the, oh, so there are some polls out.
[SPEAKER_02]: New Rutgers, Episodes poll, find 65% of Americans believe Donald Trump will send troops to Iran, not only 7% support him doing it, and 58% of U.S. voters say the war in Iran is a bad use of taxpayer. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, thanks. [SPEAKER_02]: Um, remember that difference that we said between the Maga folks and the America firsters, our friends over at MS now, they interviewed another person, uh, here he is fishermen down in Florida off the keys.
[SPEAKER_04]: We're really scratching my head because I voted Republican and most of us in the fishing industry did and, and we're not seeing the, the positives come out of it. [SPEAKER_04]: We've talked about known new wars and here we are in a new [SPEAKER_02]: There you go. [SPEAKER_02]: That one's for you. [SPEAKER_12]: That's what Sherwin said. [SPEAKER_12]: He goes, oh, he's never going to start a war. [SPEAKER_12]: Dude. [SPEAKER_02]: Uh-huh.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: You're I'm sorry. [SPEAKER_02]: Your friend was wrong. [SPEAKER_02]: And those of us who knew it knew it. [SPEAKER_02]: And we're not going to apologize for that. [SPEAKER_12]: I knew. [SPEAKER_02]: So there's the costume human lives. [SPEAKER_02]: There's the cost of the gas pump. [SPEAKER_02]: There's also the cost in political capital. [SPEAKER_02]: Republicans and Congress are actually starting to rebel.
[SPEAKER_02]: You saw that, uh, for once, Lauren Bobbert is not willing to give a hand to, um, sorry, put the wrong button there. [SPEAKER_02]: She's, anyway, no, she's not willing to give a hand to Donald Trump with this war. [SPEAKER_12]: And, uh, you know, I, I'm going to support her on that. [SPEAKER_02]: I told you, look, you and I have said this that if they support us on a specific thing like the Epstein papers, like And she did there too.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and she's like, uh-huh Her thing is we need to be taking care of people here at home, which which she also doesn't really want to do, but well Look, she wants to be handy to several [SPEAKER_02]: What? [SPEAKER_02]: She'd just say, and it's learnbobberk. [SPEAKER_02]: Anyway, look, we've got more of the news on Tap. [SPEAKER_02]: We'll talk about that. [SPEAKER_02]: We got to talk about the radio today.
[SPEAKER_02]: We love our radio stations, but somebody in the media business does not. [SPEAKER_02]: And we will have to talk about that particular person. [SPEAKER_02]: We do have a really good drink of the day, though. [SPEAKER_02]: I mentioned that today happens to be the beginning of a new season. [SPEAKER_02]: And that actually, it was equal balance earlier today. [SPEAKER_02]: We'll talk about what the drink of the day. [SPEAKER_02]: So fresh in your drink, come right back, hang on.
[SPEAKER_05]: We'll be right back after we pay some bills at the politics bar. [SPEAKER_02]: It is Friday night the evening of the week here at the politics bar.
[SPEAKER_02]: We hope you are enjoying the music enjoy the news And of course we are always glad when you reach out to us You say hey, you tell us what's going on you guys can always do that on the bar line bar line is available 247 and 213 677 7 7 7 2 5 8 that's 213 677 72 58 or 213 677 salts by Ganymaga [SPEAKER_02]: You can call us or you can text us. [SPEAKER_02]: I know some of you are like, I don't know if I want my voice on the air That's fine. [SPEAKER_02]: Whatever.
[SPEAKER_02]: We communicate with you. [SPEAKER_02]: We communicate with you guys on our social media as well from Blue Sky and Threads and Substack and Facebook and Instagram and Twitter and YouTube We are on all of those platforms at the politics bar, which Conveniently is where you're at right now. [SPEAKER_02]: So that works out. [SPEAKER_02]: I think yeah [SPEAKER_02]: All righty, Jody. [SPEAKER_02]: It is Friday nights.
[SPEAKER_02]: We still have a whole lot more news to go through news on tap. [SPEAKER_02]: Netanyahu has really started to step out a little bit more from Donald on this stupid ass ran roar and really we've got a piece from the New York Times that's finally they're admitting and they're talking about the fact that Netanyahu is different priorities. [SPEAKER_02]: Of course he does. [SPEAKER_02]: Well, Donald, we don't quite know. [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, do you know what his priorities are?
[SPEAKER_12]: I don't think he just is going by a Netanyahu inputten. [SPEAKER_12]: And it's interesting because Putin is against him because they're helping Iran. [SPEAKER_12]: So I don't know what he's doing. [SPEAKER_02]: There's a whole thing. [SPEAKER_02]: Donald doesn't really, I think, know what the hell he's doing. [SPEAKER_02]: nominally this was to stop a rants nuclear capabilities.
[SPEAKER_02]: Obviously Donald has said there's been a little bit of warning of regime change, but in order to get regime change, you would have to have boots on the ground. [SPEAKER_02]: And he keeps saying, well, I'm sending soldiers, but we're not going to have boots on the ground. [SPEAKER_12]: Well, that's what, what? [SPEAKER_12]: Huh? [SPEAKER_02]: But does that mean exactly that's that that is that is the correct response buzz.
[SPEAKER_02]: What does that mean we don't know and Donald doesn't know either, but Netanyahu's priorities especially when looking at all the people he's killing in Lebanon that have absolutely nothing to do with Hezbollah or at least I'm sure there's only a few of them to do. [SPEAKER_12]: Um, well, he doesn't mind killing civilians. [SPEAKER_12]: He just does. [SPEAKER_02]: No, but that's just it Netanyahu is [SPEAKER_02]: wanting.
[SPEAKER_02]: And I don't think you can call because not all Lebanese or members of Hezbollah. [SPEAKER_02]: So I don't know if you can call it a general side. [SPEAKER_02]: But he just wants everybody who he fears and hates. [SPEAKER_02]: killed, which is pretty disgusting, especially when you consider that he leads a state whose official religion is Judaism, even though they are fine with, well, nominally fine with some other religions.
[SPEAKER_02]: But I just, I'm like, dude, that's just disgusting. [SPEAKER_12]: That's just, well, he's killing Christians and Muslims in Lebanon. [SPEAKER_12]: Christians. [SPEAKER_12]: Hi, y'all. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [UNKNOWN]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, there are still Jews there, but he doesn't care. [SPEAKER_02]: So that's, however, here's the thing, Netanyahu, you can tell is really the one who's pushing the, the, there needs to be a groundwater, but I want you to go first, Donald.
[SPEAKER_02]: That's why you're saying, because Netanyahu came out today and said that Iran is being decimated, but revolution there is going to require a ground component.
[SPEAKER_02]: really I'm sorry so the Trump administration is now saying that Cuba can't take Russian oil even though two Russian oil tankers are basically right off the island now and Trump is remember he said earlier this week he said he was going to take Cuba yeah I remember yeah well what what little planning they have looks like they may have decided to put a Castro back in charge of course they will
[SPEAKER_02]: you would think that Marco would be smarter than that given that this is basically Marco's little his thing it's definitely his thing and it's just like seriously dude [SPEAKER_02]: But here's, so here's something else though. [SPEAKER_02]: So US Southern Command Chief had a briefing with senators. [SPEAKER_02]: And we've got all of these stories in the news on tap. [SPEAKER_02]: If you guys can always subscribe to it there at thepoliticsbar.com. [SPEAKER_02]: It's free.
[SPEAKER_02]: Help you get the news. [SPEAKER_02]: But the US Southern Command Chief brief senators and confirmed that the US military has currently zero preparations for taking over or assisting with any change of government in Cuba. [SPEAKER_12]: and isn't done on threatening Russia sending oil so that they can have the lights on so that people can live. [SPEAKER_02]: Now he's trying to take off the sanctions on the Russian oil and on a rainy oil, too.
[SPEAKER_02]: Even the Russia's our enemy and the Ukrainian war and Iran is our enemy. [SPEAKER_02]: But he's doing this because we have this [SPEAKER_12]: addiction to oil, but no, he's saying to Russia don't send oil to Cuba. [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, yeah, he doesn't want them to send to Cuba. [SPEAKER_02]: He would like them to send to us just not cube even. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, Donald's logic is not consistent. [SPEAKER_02]: And if any of you are trying to make it consistent, stop.
[SPEAKER_02]: It's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it
[SPEAKER_02]: So there is a bunch of this idiotic news, and of course, obviously this affects the economy. [SPEAKER_02]: Trump's worth of the ran obviously causing gas prices to surge. [SPEAKER_02]: We already talked about that. [SPEAKER_02]: But workers are starting to feel the pain as of course they will. [SPEAKER_02]: Shocker. [SPEAKER_02]: And the economy is it's a huge deal right now.
[SPEAKER_02]: uh... good old harry at an over at cnn love at it ok here let me roll the dvr on this because air is got the numbers on how bad uh... the cost of living numbers are right now for Donald [SPEAKER_00]: You know, I would say that this is the most troublesome sign that I have seen for the present of the United States and the Republican Party so far. [SPEAKER_00]: What are we talking about? [SPEAKER_00]: Well, what are we talking about? [SPEAKER_00]: Well, what are we talking about?
[SPEAKER_00]: Voters and Trump on the cost living. [SPEAKER_00]: You go back when he was re-elected back in October of 2024. [SPEAKER_00]: He was beating Kamala Harris by three points on the cost of living, right? [SPEAKER_00]: Look at his net approval rating now. [SPEAKER_00]: Woo! [SPEAKER_00]: Down under water we go is net approval at a record low 41 points below water. [SPEAKER_00]: You can't win. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, can't win. [SPEAKER_00]: 41 points below water.
[SPEAKER_00]: You can't win. [SPEAKER_00]: Of course, the living. [SPEAKER_00]: Kamala Harris couldn't win. [SPEAKER_00]: The Democratic Party couldn't win. [SPEAKER_00]: And I'm here to tell you that there's a better chance that I root for the New York Yankees than Donald Trump and the Republican Party winning when he's 41 points below water. [SPEAKER_12]: So my assumption is he's a Metz fan. [SPEAKER_12]: So there's that. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, there's areas of Metz fan.
[SPEAKER_12]: But his is Brooklyn or whatever accent that is comes out when he gets super excited. [SPEAKER_02]: I said that whenever he gets when he's like, yeah, but he. [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, he had a thing about Federman too. [SPEAKER_02]: I think this morning. [SPEAKER_02]: Federman, by the way, from hit the change his popularity before his stroke. [SPEAKER_02]: until now, that's 108 points. [SPEAKER_12]: Oh, I bet. [SPEAKER_02]: In the Craper.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_12]: And he's completely changed to, he said he was. [SPEAKER_12]: And that's probably because of the stroke. [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, I 100% believe it's because of this. [SPEAKER_12]: I don't think he was lying to us when he ran. [SPEAKER_02]: No, I don't think so. [SPEAKER_12]: For office, I think he just, this happens to your brain and the particular part of his brain that got affected, affected his personality.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yep, and that's it sucks, but now like for example, he's not not necessarily in line with the Biden Harris folks on student loans which back in the day he was. [SPEAKER_12]: He was. [SPEAKER_02]: The reason I speak about student loans because that goes along to the economy.
[SPEAKER_02]: The Trump regime is trying to attempt to move federal student loan portfolio to the treasury department, which is what they said they were going to do so that they can try and get rid of the education department. [SPEAKER_02]: they're going to have a lot of problems with that. [SPEAKER_02]: I think I've told you before I worked for now, not for a period of time, it's going to be dumb. [SPEAKER_02]: It's going to be really, it's going to be an absolute mess.
[SPEAKER_02]: And we still need to just figure out the whole basics, which Obama and Biden tried to figure out back in the day and actually fix the cost of college. [SPEAKER_02]: That's, that'd be one of the things down the road that we're going to have to figure out. [SPEAKER_12]: College should be there. [SPEAKER_12]: Universities that are public universities used to be very inexpensive. [SPEAKER_02]: Well, here to story this week.
[SPEAKER_02]: I didn't put in the news on tap about how Notre Dame is now basically making for people who are I think it's what is below 50,000 or 80,000 that make it in Notre Dame it's free. [SPEAKER_02]: I think if you're if your family income is something like below 50,000 a year. [SPEAKER_02]: Everything is read good board. [SPEAKER_12]: books, and that's a private college. [SPEAKER_12]: That's not a public.
[SPEAKER_02]: No, and they were saying, Notre Dame is basically got the bank role of the Catholic Church. [SPEAKER_02]: So I understand they can afford it. [SPEAKER_02]: That's fine. [SPEAKER_02]: Pope Bob. [SPEAKER_02]: Yes. [SPEAKER_02]: Pope Bob, which we love, but he'll be back on Wednesday. [SPEAKER_02]: But the idea is, [SPEAKER_02]: I understand Notre Dame can afford it, but there are a lot of other the whole system can be fixed and we figure with the amount of money that we have blown.
[SPEAKER_02]: So we've got another piece. [SPEAKER_02]: This one happens to be back in that first round under the cost of the war. [SPEAKER_02]: And it's a good piece from Hayes Brown over at MS now. [SPEAKER_02]: And it talks about the biggest problems with Pete Heggseth's ridiculous $200 billion war request. [SPEAKER_02]: First of all, [SPEAKER_02]: We spent $19 billion in these first three weeks, $19 billion, about 11 billion the first week.
[SPEAKER_02]: That amount of money, the amount of money that we're spending on war could be used for so many things, including making sure that Americans can go to college for free or extremely low cost. [SPEAKER_12]: And health care. [SPEAKER_12]: Hi. [SPEAKER_02]: Mm-hmm. [SPEAKER_02]: Joe, he's right about that.
[SPEAKER_02]: So the idea that we don't have the money and the fact that we are not taxing the wealthy anywhere near where we should be and we're not taxing corporations anything close to what we should be. [SPEAKER_02]: Anybody who tells you, well, we don't have the money for your priority, especially if your priority is a priority that takes care of most people, regardless of income, regardless of anything else, yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: Those people are full of crap. [SPEAKER_12]: Mm-hmm.
[SPEAKER_12]: Oh, no. [SPEAKER_12]: I've been bitching about this since the Gulf War. [SPEAKER_02]: Mm-hmm. [SPEAKER_02]: You're not wrong. [SPEAKER_02]: I, I have thought this, but it's, it's the idea, we can't afford it. [SPEAKER_12]: No, we can. [SPEAKER_12]: We just choose not to. [SPEAKER_02]: Correct. [SPEAKER_02]: absolutely. [SPEAKER_02]: It's disgusting, but it's true. [SPEAKER_12]: It is.
[SPEAKER_12]: I mean, I have friends that are veterans of a friend of mine who was in the Gulf War. [SPEAKER_12]: He doesn't really talk to me much. [SPEAKER_12]: I think you put it for Trump. [SPEAKER_12]: Anyway, not sure, but I think you did. [SPEAKER_12]: But I've bitched at him years ago before Donald showed up. [SPEAKER_12]: And I was like, why can we afford war and not healthcare? [SPEAKER_12]: Why can we afford war and not education? [SPEAKER_12]: Why can we afford war?
[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, as it is, the Republicans are going to get their asses kicked down the election land section and the fourth round of the news on tap today, Tom Schaller over at public notice, wrote up a great piece talking about how the Republicans are heading for the exits. [SPEAKER_02]: You are looking right now, 34 vacancies from the House Republicans. [SPEAKER_02]: That's just that. [SPEAKER_02]: And remember, in 2018, Democrats flipped a net of 40 seats. [SPEAKER_02]: Right.
[SPEAKER_02]: This is going to be Democrats are going to come in and probably pick up somewhere between 40 and 50 seats. [SPEAKER_06]: Oh, let's go with 70. [SPEAKER_02]: I'm I'm good with 70. [SPEAKER_02]: It's Democrats if they are smart and they focus on affordability and accountability.
[SPEAKER_02]: Those are the only two things that they really have to focus on, because I don't care where you're at on the spectrum, whether you are closer to a centrist Democrats, a more conservative Democrat or whether you are more progressive, whether you're more liberal, I don't care where you're at on the spectrum. [SPEAKER_02]: You can make those two things work for your message, because you can't tell me that Americans don't want costs to be better, they don't want wages to go up.
[SPEAKER_02]: Because they do Americans won't wait just to go up. [SPEAKER_02]: They won't cost to go down and want to make sure that the people who've done so many of the bad things actually get what they should get what's coming to them. [SPEAKER_02]: And I don't mean in a good way. [SPEAKER_02]: That's accountability. [SPEAKER_12]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: And they're the part of it's affordability.
[SPEAKER_12]: More of us are, but it still pizzles me off that the magas are only concerned about the gas prices. [SPEAKER_12]: It's just, [SPEAKER_02]: Look, remember, they didn't, they didn't think that this was anything of a big deal. [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, you know, they're going to go out and get all the brown people and all the black people that we don't like. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: And they didn't care about it until it was Jose that they knew.
[SPEAKER_02]: until it was for him that they knew wait a minute wait a minute no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no
[SPEAKER_02]: legally here legally here yeah surprise testimony reveals that the Trump administration wrongfully deported more than a hundred asylum seekers in violation of a court ordered settlement shocker so they were literally told no specifically these people don't do it don't do it to these specific hundred plus people but they didn't anyway they're losing a lot joty um so Trump even reportedly told his inner circle of people that some of these really ugly nasty
[SPEAKER_02]: have gone too far. [SPEAKER_02]: It's a Wall Street Journal piece. [SPEAKER_02]: We've got the gift link for you there in the news on tap and the courts are going against them too. [SPEAKER_02]: Washington State, the state legislature has just banned all law enforcement, including federal forces from covering their faces. [SPEAKER_02]: They took the law like you guys had there at the California. [SPEAKER_02]: Did it better? [SPEAKER_02]: Uh-huh. [SPEAKER_02]: Yes, they did.
[SPEAKER_12]: And we're doing that now. [SPEAKER_12]: We're redoing it. [SPEAKER_12]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_12]: And all that's something. [SPEAKER_02]: Look, you guys do the first draft. [SPEAKER_02]: Washington gets it right. [SPEAKER_02]: You copy them. [SPEAKER_02]: I'm good. [SPEAKER_02]: Thank you Washington State. [SPEAKER_02]: The idea is they're not winning in any stretch of the the the idea that they're losing on a whole lot of fronts Thank God for the courts at this point.
[SPEAKER_02]: That's the only thing holding this country together Well, I got for everybody standing up too. [SPEAKER_02]: We got it. [SPEAKER_02]: We'll talk more about that, obviously. [SPEAKER_02]: It's Friday night We got a lot more to talk about in the news on tap [SPEAKER_02]: We got Karen and Anita coming in from Shubu politics. [SPEAKER_02]: We'll have to tell them about the little Port Monto thing. [SPEAKER_02]: We'll figure about that.
[SPEAKER_02]: Look, as you can tell them a little dry, so I'm going to get another drink. [SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to get a drink for you and we're going to get you the drink of the day. [SPEAKER_05]: That is coming up next here on the politics part. [SPEAKER_02]: Friday nights at the politics law. [SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to good mood. [SPEAKER_02]: Joe, he's in a good mood. [SPEAKER_02]: I still haven't seen the score of that Husker game earlier today.
[SPEAKER_02]: The Husker Williams basketball game. [SPEAKER_02]: I'll check maybe the top of the hour. [SPEAKER_02]: I'll see what it is. [SPEAKER_02]: I don't know. [SPEAKER_02]: I love I just I like my Huskers. [SPEAKER_02]: And we'll talk a little about the NCAA tournament's men's and women's going on. [SPEAKER_02]: Obviously, of course, we got to get to the drink of the day. [SPEAKER_02]: I got mine right here now.
[SPEAKER_02]: You know, you could get your drink of the day recipe at any time. [SPEAKER_02]: We put it out before we get, well, before we talk to you guys. [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, we get to the bar. [SPEAKER_02]: Anyway, look, the best way to get your drink of the day, including the recipe. [SPEAKER_02]: you got to subscribe to the politics bar.com. [SPEAKER_02]: You get the drink of the day with the recipe, you get the podcast, ad-free, and you get the news on tap.
[SPEAKER_02]: We throw that in there for free as well. [SPEAKER_02]: $6 a month. [SPEAKER_02]: It's there. [SPEAKER_02]: You love it. [SPEAKER_02]: And then, you know, you look really cool. [SPEAKER_02]: You have some event at your house, a party, whatever. [SPEAKER_02]: Or maybe you're just like, you know, what, what the hey, man. [SPEAKER_02]: I want to make something different. [SPEAKER_02]: And we do both cocktails and cocktails all the time.
[SPEAKER_02]: Because there are a lot of you who are like, you know, I'd like something different than water or tea or lemonade. [SPEAKER_02]: But I don't really want these guys. [SPEAKER_12]: There was a drink it almost did for April Fool's Day. [SPEAKER_12]: Which was called an April Fool martini, or cocktail, excuse me, and it was just water. [SPEAKER_12]: And I went, that's funny. [SPEAKER_02]: Kind of funny, but yeah, no, that's, I mean, it would be a mocktail.
[SPEAKER_12]: It would, I mean, the purest mocktail. [SPEAKER_02]: Exactly, but no, no. [SPEAKER_12]: But I was like, it's funny. [SPEAKER_02]: So what you're saying is, is you were kind of half on and half off. [SPEAKER_02]: You were divided equally. [SPEAKER_12]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_02]: Like today. [SPEAKER_02]: Like today. [SPEAKER_02]: Okay, today, what is the drink of the day, Jody? [SPEAKER_02]: And what is the inspiration for the drink of the day? [SPEAKER_12]: It's called a Northern Glow.
[SPEAKER_12]: And today, we call it the spring equinox or the vernal equinox. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, the vernal equinox is. [SPEAKER_02]: That's when you have two guys named Verne and you stand equal distance between them. [SPEAKER_02]: And that's... [SPEAKER_02]: Sorry, there's actually we we got the we got all of it there latin vernalis is springtime or fresh or new springtime for Hitler and Germany Yes, from from the box at Steph's house.
[SPEAKER_02]: I remember that one the word equinox comes from Latin Equus meaning equal and the word nox meaning night. [SPEAKER_02]: So that's where you get vernal equinox It does not mean that you are standing halfway between two guys named verne. [SPEAKER_12]: I did no one guy named verne [SPEAKER_02]: If you knew two guys named Verne, I would be surprised. [SPEAKER_02]: I would be very impressed, because that's a very... [SPEAKER_12]: I don't have a bunch of people named Spike.
[SPEAKER_12]: And one's a girl. [SPEAKER_02]: Not as uncommon, especially maybe for, you know, bigger cities, LA, New York, maybe. [SPEAKER_02]: But, you know. [SPEAKER_12]: It's a Chicago guy, and a... [SPEAKER_02]: There you go. [SPEAKER_12]: Sacramento guy. [SPEAKER_02]: Spike and Chicago. [SPEAKER_02]: Spike and Chicago, hello. [SPEAKER_12]: I know they're real names, but I will not say them. [SPEAKER_02]: That's fine. [SPEAKER_02]: Look, everybody, you can, you can have a nickname.
[SPEAKER_02]: That's fine. [SPEAKER_02]: And some people work hard in their nicknames so that they can use it in different things. [SPEAKER_02]: But that's kind of the whole thing with the equinox. [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, it's, it's right down the middle. [SPEAKER_02]: And there is a difference, by the way, between an equinox and a solstice, also not the same thing. [SPEAKER_02]: Yes, there are two solstices every year and two equinoxes. [SPEAKER_02]: But they're about three months apart.
[SPEAKER_02]: So all of that, all the details. [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, oh, I loved, I love what you did. [SPEAKER_02]: I found a video for this. [SPEAKER_12]: I saw that. [SPEAKER_12]: Thank you. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: At the ruins of Ticinita, the ancient Mayan city in Mexico, he got to think when they did this, you know, some more, this is the long-ass time ago. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: They did a math.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: So that when the sun on the equinox, it looks like the snake goes down the pyramid and into the mouth of the snake statue at the bottom of the pyramid. [SPEAKER_12]: That's a cool snake ever. [SPEAKER_02]: I'm like, that's really cool. [SPEAKER_12]: I mean, they built those things with math. [SPEAKER_02]: Well, yeah, but I mean, man, they had to be so freaking precise to get it just. [SPEAKER_12]: I mean, and they did it in Egypt as well.
[SPEAKER_12]: I mean, what they did? [SPEAKER_02]: That pyramid, by the way, the one at Chechnica, I looked, because I was like, [SPEAKER_02]: You know, I thought I'd seen a story a few years back and I had this. [SPEAKER_02]: I just did like a radar, like LiDAR kind of stuff. [SPEAKER_02]: That's the third pyramid. [SPEAKER_02]: You don't know where the second pyramid and the first pyramid are underneath it.
[SPEAKER_02]: They built their first pyramid and then they built their second one on top of the first one and then they built the third one on top of the second one. [SPEAKER_02]: And yet they were still able to do it so that the light just rides down to suck. [SPEAKER_02]: It's really cool. [SPEAKER_02]: You guys should go check it out. [SPEAKER_12]: It's so rare. [SPEAKER_12]: It's a lost arc. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: It's really kick out.
[SPEAKER_12]: It's like you put the thing in and you know where things are. [SPEAKER_02]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_02]: Right there. [SPEAKER_02]: Laser. [SPEAKER_02]: Anyway. [SPEAKER_02]: So, look, you guys can see the video. [SPEAKER_02]: We have it in the drink of the day at the news on tap. [SPEAKER_02]: But the spring equinox, something to be celebrated.
[SPEAKER_02]: If you know somebody who is Persian by the way, the holiday of Naurus is today, also, by the way, if you happen to have somebody that you know that is Muslim today is the last day of Ramadan. [SPEAKER_02]: So, Edmobarak to everybody who is Muslim. [SPEAKER_02]: Thank you very much. [SPEAKER_02]: Absolutely. [SPEAKER_02]: Enjoy and just think you don't have to fast anymore during the day. [SPEAKER_02]: So, very good.
[SPEAKER_02]: What I know, some people are like, okay, wait a minute. [SPEAKER_02]: Doesn't that mean Passover and Easter are coming? [SPEAKER_02]: Yes, they are. [SPEAKER_02]: They're all tied if you notice. [SPEAKER_02]: Islam, Judaism, and Christianity all tied to the same things they're used to. [SPEAKER_02]: They're coming too. [SPEAKER_02]: See? [SPEAKER_02]: See? [SPEAKER_12]: It's pagan children. [SPEAKER_02]: They all are what is the pagans.
[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, rabbits, eggs, think about it. [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, seriously, people. [SPEAKER_02]: Right. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: Anyway, although the the Cadbury commercial should be coming that soon. [SPEAKER_12]: Oh, no, I've seen them. [SPEAKER_12]: And that commercial is what 30 years old. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it's good commercial still.
[SPEAKER_02]: all those animals are no longer with us sadly but the drink of the day is still here and you can get it in cocktail or mocktail it is thank you for the mocktail version i do what i can how can we make this northern glow cocktail or mocktail today alright you know what kind of glass you need [SPEAKER_02]: Pre-chilled, everyone, we get to have everybody say that around here. [SPEAKER_12]: Pre-chilled, you need a shake or some ice.
[SPEAKER_12]: For the cocktail, you need one-and-a-half ounces of dry gin. [SPEAKER_07]: Okay. [SPEAKER_12]: One-and-a-half ounces of quantro-triple-sec licure. [SPEAKER_12]: So it's the yummy stuff. [SPEAKER_12]: Right. [SPEAKER_12]: For the cocktail, you need one-and-a-half ounces of liars gen alternative. [SPEAKER_12]: And a half ounce of liars orange sec. [SPEAKER_02]: Also yummy. [SPEAKER_12]: Very good.
[SPEAKER_12]: Okay, regardless, then you need an ounce of pink grapefruit juice, because sometimes we need red. [SPEAKER_12]: Okay, got it. [SPEAKER_12]: This is pink. [SPEAKER_12]: Um, it's a different kind of grapefruit flavor. [SPEAKER_12]: It does taste very different. [SPEAKER_12]: A third of an ounce of lemon juice. [SPEAKER_12]: Everything is freshly squeezed by the way. [SPEAKER_12]: I will definitely add that to a third of an ounce of sugar syrup, rich.
[SPEAKER_12]: So two to sugar, one to water. [SPEAKER_02]: uh three dashes of rhubarb bidders and for my friend rhubarb who is in the Twin Cities know that does not mean you get to turn to people and go, you shut up three times that is not acceptable. [SPEAKER_12]: My niece whose dog I take care of, she just thinks that earthquakes were called rhubarb's.
[SPEAKER_02]: well my friend rhubarb you know if she uses her board of education and slap she upside the head it feels like an earthquake so not that I've ever had that happened if she literally for the first like three or four years after she had her first earthquake so she was like three or four is that a rhubarb? [SPEAKER_02]: no I'm sorry she's in the Twin Cities [SPEAKER_12]: And then we have a great pink grapefruit zest as our garnish.
[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, so how can we make the Northern Glow cocktail? [SPEAKER_12]: With either way you put all the ingredients in your cocktail in your shaker, okay? [SPEAKER_02]: Right, so either cocktail ingredients or mocktail do not put them together folks, that's what we want. [SPEAKER_02]: Because then that kind of, yeah, messes it up. [SPEAKER_12]: Yeah, it makes the mocktail, not a thing. [SPEAKER_12]: Right. [SPEAKER_12]: You shake it until it's cold, do we?
[SPEAKER_12]: You strain it into the glass filled with ice, so you have ice for the glass. [SPEAKER_07]: Right. [SPEAKER_12]: And then you express the great for zest and use it in his garnish. [SPEAKER_12]: And you'll see a picture how you know what it looks like in case you don't have it. [SPEAKER_02]: I thought it's a very nice kind of a spring time drink. [SPEAKER_12]: I know it sounds yummy, doesn't it? [SPEAKER_12]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_02]: This is a new season folks.
[SPEAKER_02]: So look, tomorrow's new season technically. [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, it's now technically the the equinox happened at 1046 a.m. Eastern time today, whatever, but the fact is metaphorically the slate is now wiped clean. [SPEAKER_02]: So you have another chance to do whatever, which pretty much every day is another chance. [SPEAKER_02]: But if you, if you rank yourself out today or like, man, I had a crap Friday. [SPEAKER_02]: Well, fine tomorrow's another day, get some sleep.
[SPEAKER_02]: What ever or you know if you're starting to listen to something for third shift. [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, hey You're you're you're listening us before you go to work congratulations Do good tonight just do it. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I safe and Yeah, there you go.
[SPEAKER_02]: If you guys missed any part of the drink of the day, you know what to do just go subscribe to the politics bar dot count [SPEAKER_02]: All right, entertainment news as we always do along with the drink because it's more fun that way. [SPEAKER_02]: All righty here, I still have not looked at the score. [SPEAKER_02]: I'll have to go check the score. [SPEAKER_02]: If you missed any of the scores, you're like, oh, I'm a fan of this men's team or the women's team.
[SPEAKER_02]: We've got both the men's and women's March Madness live trackers. [SPEAKER_02]: You can see what today's games were and then be like, okay. [SPEAKER_02]: And know what you want to want to this weekend. [SPEAKER_02]: By the way, I nearly 36 million March Madness brackets were busted on day one. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_12]: How does that happen?
[SPEAKER_02]: Well, because like a Cinderella team and there were a couple Cinderella teams, lower ranked 11th ranked 12th ranked 13th ranked similar the 16th ranked team. [SPEAKER_02]: I'll try to remember who they were. [SPEAKER_02]: They almost beat Duke. [SPEAKER_02]: They came this close to beating Duke right, which is is extremely rare that a 16 will be to one seed. [SPEAKER_12]: And Duke was always a really good team. [SPEAKER_02]: Well, right.
[SPEAKER_02]: And that's how you bust millions of brackets at once, is because people put out all their brackets. [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, and this is fine. [SPEAKER_02]: And I'm going to do this, and whether it's in your office pool or just for fun for yourself. [SPEAKER_02]: And people perpetually look at the big seeds. [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, oh, Duke, why are there? [SPEAKER_02]: They're going to win the whole thing. [SPEAKER_02]: And then, of course, if they lose, who wipes it out?
[SPEAKER_12]: And you make money from that correct? [SPEAKER_02]: At some people do bet on it. [SPEAKER_02]: Yes, that's one of the issues that's with our legislators are finally going, hey, this isn't so good because people are betting on things like war. [SPEAKER_12]: I see that's bad. [SPEAKER_12]: I don't mind betting bet on sports.
[SPEAKER_02]: even that I have I have some issues with with betting on sports to to some degree in the sense of if you are I still believe if you're a player you should not bet on your sport I agree you can bet on other people's sports because you have no control over that which is way when Pete rose got busted that made no sense to me right because you're like we weren't betting on baseball right or his own team or anything [SPEAKER_02]: I'm with you. [SPEAKER_02]: I'm with you.
[SPEAKER_02]: Speaking still more in the basketball arena. [SPEAKER_02]: LeBron James has tied Robert Parish's all-time NBA record by appearing in his 1,600 and 11th regular NBA season game, which I think I think LeBron's playing tonight, so then he'll actually keep the record for himself, because he's tied right now. [SPEAKER_02]: So, but yeah, LeBron, I mean, there's their reasons we call them the king.
[SPEAKER_02]: he is the king man he's just he's just the king the kings of kpop BTS they are back after their four-year military service supposed to be I believe this weekend they're doing a little kickoff things so if those are that kpop it's gonna be big deal ABC has pulled an entire season of the bachelor ret not surprised did you see that video [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, well, we've got the story. [SPEAKER_02]: You guys can go and watch it yourself.
[SPEAKER_02]: The woman who was supposed to be the star of the bachelor at the issues they knew going in. [SPEAKER_02]: Hmm, they should have if they didn't. [SPEAKER_02]: No, they didn't. [SPEAKER_12]: Because this is court documents. [SPEAKER_12]: I mean, it's not like this. [SPEAKER_02]: But the question is, did whatever producers that ended up digging this up, did they tell their bosses? [SPEAKER_02]: And clearly, it looks like the answer was no. [SPEAKER_12]: No, she should have never.
[SPEAKER_02]: They should have never cast her, they should have, but they, oh, it's going to be exciting. [SPEAKER_12]: It's going to be, yeah, no, no, no, no, she does not look good in that video. [SPEAKER_02]: No. [SPEAKER_12]: And her response was, you know, everybody, you know, I'm, I'm supporting women that have been abused.
[SPEAKER_12]: Cool. [SPEAKER_12]: I am with you, but it looks like in that particular video, you were the aggressor and you [SPEAKER_12]: He was walking away and I don't know if he was almost. [SPEAKER_02]: You guys can you guys can look at the video and there's there's other stuff with it But this is one of the reasons why I'm like the the problems with quote unquote reality TV This is one of them [SPEAKER_02]: There are a lot of problems with that.
[SPEAKER_02]: There are problems in the radio world too. [SPEAKER_02]: We're going to have to talk about those after the top of the hour break because I think they're important and they do affect you guys. [SPEAKER_02]: So we'll talk about those obviously more than news on tap. [SPEAKER_02]: Karen and Anita from True Blue Politics podcast that they are coming in and we'll talk about everything from the week with them as we always do.
[SPEAKER_02]: So, top of the hour, you guys know what to do if you got to get up, you know, go take carry yourself. [SPEAKER_02]: If you're down the hall, left right and center, we aim to please here at the politics bar. [SPEAKER_02]: You aim to please. [SPEAKER_02]: Then come back, fresh new drink, and we'll have another hour with us here at the politics bar. [SPEAKER_03]: But let it go, thank you, let it go. [SPEAKER_03]: And we get the far away, but you are the politics bar.
[SPEAKER_01]: Shot Smith, here's some Jody Hamilton. [SPEAKER_02]: Our two are Friday nights here at the politics bar. [SPEAKER_02]: I missed, I should have checked the score for the Husker women's game. [SPEAKER_02]: I did not. [SPEAKER_02]: So nobody tell me, shh. [SPEAKER_02]: Ha ha ha. [SPEAKER_02]: It, anyway. [SPEAKER_02]: I guess we can be that child like sometimes that's we have fun with our friends Karen and Anita they will be in in a little bit we have more than news on tap as well.
[SPEAKER_02]: Thank you by the way to all of our great radio affiliates who are hosting us and where you are listening right now we hope on places like the D to we're talking Tennessee or Georgia now radio in the ATL maybe you are listening on AM 950 Minneapolis Saint Paul and maybe you're listening on Chicago's AMA 20 W CPT [SPEAKER_02]: Or maybe you're listening to progressive voices radio worldwide, wherever you happen to be, or, you know, maybe you are one of those, the user people.
[SPEAKER_02]: We love you, future people. [SPEAKER_02]: Thank you for subscribing on the podcast on your favorite podcast player, or at the politicsbar.com. [SPEAKER_02]: Remember, right now it's a 20th. [SPEAKER_02]: You've only got like 10 more days, March, Mathness, less than a buck 50. [SPEAKER_02]: Joe, do you shaking your head at me? [SPEAKER_02]: What, you're the one I think it's a wonderfully cute phrase, and it happens to work.
[SPEAKER_02]: check out the details at the politicsbar.com where we have more from the news on tap today. [SPEAKER_02]: So I'm glad about some turns in the election stuff. [SPEAKER_02]: In the election land section, Larry Sabato, who is well-known as election. [SPEAKER_02]: I don't want to say prediction, but he does the election handicap or if you will. [SPEAKER_02]: Okay. [SPEAKER_02]: He made six gubernatorial rating changes.
[SPEAKER_02]: all of them, all of them shifted in favor of the Democrats, every single one of them. [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, well, California's going to be Democratic anyway. [SPEAKER_12]: We don't know because too many people in the region. [SPEAKER_02]: Well, but this is this is more along the, you know, statistical potentials, whatever. [SPEAKER_02]: A Republican's currently hold 26 governships, Democrats hold 24.
[SPEAKER_02]: We need to, well, for, well, sabana, what he's saying is we, if we flip three, [SPEAKER_02]: And it looks like there's a good chance in Georgia, and there is a good chance in Ohio Democrat Amy Acton is really. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, she's a leading Vivek Ramaswami seems like the longer that they know Vivek Ramaswami the less they like him, which he's wrong. [SPEAKER_12]: That's Marmy. [SPEAKER_02]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_02]: He is not my favorite. [SPEAKER_12]: And is he is he from Ohio?
[SPEAKER_12]: Where's he a carpet beggar? [SPEAKER_02]: I That's a good question. [SPEAKER_02]: I don't know. [SPEAKER_02]: I'll have to look that up. [SPEAKER_12]: Because JD Vance is from Ohio correct. [SPEAKER_02]: Um, I think he's not only from, yeah, I think he's, yeah, he was, he was a senator for a while. [SPEAKER_12]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: So, but anyway, yeah, I look, I, I like, I like her better than him just because I don't like him. [SPEAKER_12]: Yeah, he's awful.
[SPEAKER_02]: But we have that story if you want, it is in the news on tap. [SPEAKER_02]: The thing is is that you've got it. [SPEAKER_02]: You've got to hear the news. [SPEAKER_02]: You've got to listen to the news. [SPEAKER_02]: That's one of the reasons you guys were listening to us.
[SPEAKER_02]: and radio is pretty important, which this is where, so, by the way, something that's important for some people, that you guys may not have heard, but check the worst did something really generous today. [SPEAKER_02]: Death. [SPEAKER_02]: was extremely depressed. [SPEAKER_02]: Obviously not doing his job very well. [SPEAKER_02]: Maybe he lost his side at the bar somewhere.
[SPEAKER_02]: And so he was just bummed and Chuck Norris said, you know what, Death, I'm gonna take pity on you. [SPEAKER_02]: I will walk into the afterlife with you, but I'll be back later because I'm Chuck Norris. [SPEAKER_02]: I'm so, let's go. [SPEAKER_02]: Sorry, it's my attempt at a Chuck Norris audio meme. [SPEAKER_02]: Chuck Norris, by the way, passed away today. [SPEAKER_02]: It did.
[SPEAKER_12]: And what was interesting, because I got the news this morning, it when I got up, and he had just been taken from Kauai, which is where he was living. [SPEAKER_02]: In Hawaii, right? [SPEAKER_12]: To a hospital yesterday afternoon, apparently. [SPEAKER_12]: And then he was in good spirits, and everybody was like, he's great, and then a few hours later.
[SPEAKER_12]: he's no longer with us so that was like okay was it his people that did that I don't well me he was 86 so that he was 86 but we still know how he died correct not the last time I checked no so it had a been I'm gonna go with a heart attack probably because he was in really good shape for anybody's age by the way [SPEAKER_12]: Living in a very clean island. [SPEAKER_12]: Yeah, the pictures recent.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, that you put in the newscolors today is I mean Yeah, you can tell he's older, but he still looks pretty good. [SPEAKER_12]: He looks great and so it's like something He was a courteous TMZ. [SPEAKER_12]: Yes this morning or last night or whenever right go to sleep It's oh go 30. [SPEAKER_12]: Yeah, I get up at in Santa clock. [SPEAKER_12]: I'd go to bed at stupid o'clock and But when apparently he was taken to the hospital yesterday afternoon [SPEAKER_07]: Right.
[SPEAKER_12]: He was apparently doing some exercises with one of his trainers, so I'm going to go with heart attack. [SPEAKER_02]: Entirely possible. [SPEAKER_12]: I mean, as great shape he was in. [SPEAKER_02]: The fact of the matter is he's still 86 years old and you get up in that corner of the universe and you can't work out like you did when you were 70 or 50 or 50 and I mean he was in great shape. [SPEAKER_12]: My sister worked with him. [SPEAKER_12]: I have stories.
[SPEAKER_02]: We'll just say for those people who you know who enjoyed it, but that's it's important to be able to oftentimes hear the news like when you're out walking I don't know if you listen to all the time. [SPEAKER_02]: Okay, see that's it's great.
[SPEAKER_02]: I listen to these kinds of things too because of the fact that it's You know like when I'm out walking my dog that I like to listen to The news I like to listen to sometimes podcasts, but a lot of times I like to listen to live stuff And it's just so that I can can hear what's going on and keep abreast of stuff and I [SPEAKER_06]: Oh, hey. [SPEAKER_06]: Hi, gorgeous. [SPEAKER_03]: It's a big happy day. [SPEAKER_06]: I'm listening to you. [SPEAKER_06]: Hello, other gorgeous.
[SPEAKER_02]: I know, ladies. [SPEAKER_02]: Hello. [SPEAKER_02]: Karen and I need to be true to politics are here. [SPEAKER_02]: I heard Karen this morning on WCPT talking to Richard. [SPEAKER_12]: It's her Friday morning. [SPEAKER_12]: It's what she does. [SPEAKER_02]: It is. [SPEAKER_02]: But Friday. [SPEAKER_02]: I'm all right. [SPEAKER_02]: I heard that she had had worse speaking about things we hear. [SPEAKER_02]: I had heard that you had this piece up on sub-stack.
[SPEAKER_02]: I think, and I linked it. [SPEAKER_02]: It's in our guest section today. [SPEAKER_02]: So we'll talk about that later, too. [SPEAKER_02]: We're talking about the radio stuff right now, though. [SPEAKER_02]: So for those of you who missed it, it is in the news on tap under the media matter section under the fifth round. [SPEAKER_02]: So CBS News started another major round of layoffs today. [SPEAKER_02]: Very wise in the idiots there.
[SPEAKER_02]: They're going to lay up 6% of the staff. [SPEAKER_02]: Here's the dumb thing. [SPEAKER_02]: They're going to shut down CBS News radio after 99 years. [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, my God. [SPEAKER_02]: Right. [SPEAKER_02]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_02]: The dumbest thing getting rid of 700 affiliates. [SPEAKER_02]: But could we be on them? [SPEAKER_02]: Well, here's the thing. [SPEAKER_02]: Let's let's what one of our affiliates already has.
[SPEAKER_02]: At least one of our affiliates has a CBS radio news at the top of the hour. [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah, they're anchored, resign, quit, the CBS news radio anchor. [SPEAKER_08]: I don't know, the CBS news. [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: TV. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, they're both of their TV anchors previously resigned before Tony Dokeble took over. [SPEAKER_12]: Yeah, I thought he resigned. [SPEAKER_12]: He didn't resign. [SPEAKER_12]: Dokeble is still there, as far as I know.
[SPEAKER_02]: Still there last time I checked. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and and sinking the ratings, which, you know, whatever. [SPEAKER_02]: That's of course. [SPEAKER_08]: I mean, I don't know what they were thinking. [SPEAKER_08]: They're seeing and there's the same thing.
[SPEAKER_08]: They think they're going to, you know, somehow, [SPEAKER_02]: grab some of these right wingers right they never do because those people are never going to trust well and it but it doesn't it doesn't work in the opposite way either and it doesn't out the elicence think the elicence think that they're going to try to turn CBS into you know a fox light yeah except here's the thing
[SPEAKER_02]: Um, so it used to be your evening news was somewhere between 11 and 12 million was a normal for any of the three major network news now it's more like about 8 million instead of 11 to 12 even but still 8 million people is is no shakes. [SPEAKER_02]: I mean if you've got you've got a million people a night watching you that's a lot of people. [SPEAKER_12]: Right.
[SPEAKER_02]: And the amount of content that they put out is usually somewhere between 19 and 20 minutes were the content I believe. [SPEAKER_02]: So let's [SPEAKER_02]: And, you know, just as a round number that for an ad, let's say they charge $1,000 for that. [SPEAKER_02]: And then you do the multiples and all of the people that watch and all of you make huge money, even if only only eight million people are watching. [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah, well, now it is. [SPEAKER_08]: That is a lot.
[SPEAKER_02]: Well, that's huge. [SPEAKER_02]: But it's CBS. [SPEAKER_02]: They're, they're evening news ratings are now under 4 million. [SPEAKER_02]: They're, they're ratings are close to that of cable. [SPEAKER_02]: CNN or MS now. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it's cable news. [SPEAKER_02]: Uh-huh, which is a totally different to that. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_10]: I mean, you know, low ratings has never had an effect on Fox News. [SPEAKER_10]: I mean, they've always said, that's cable.
[SPEAKER_12]: This is broadcast news. [SPEAKER_10]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_10]: I mean, it's also under 4 million. [SPEAKER_10]: But as far as that being a calculation on their part, you know what I mean? [SPEAKER_10]: Like I don't think that that's so I don't think that's the key. [SPEAKER_02]: I don't think that's the key. [SPEAKER_02]: Clearly not this is they're claiming getting rid of these 700 radio stations and getting rid of CBS radio news is a business choice.
[SPEAKER_02]: And I want you guys to walk through the math because we've been joking, you know, here that it's March Mathness as far as if you want to get a podcast for us, but let's let's walk through the math. [SPEAKER_02]: So just from the ad revenue, this doesn't count the affiliate ships. [SPEAKER_02]: Affiliateships cost money. [SPEAKER_02]: Usually, you know, [SPEAKER_02]: 2000, whatever, a few hundred, even let's say, depending on what level of affiliateship.
[SPEAKER_02]: So CBS makes money off of that from just being an affiliate and being an affiliate means you get like in the morning. [SPEAKER_02]: You can go through all of the audio that comes from all of the CBS audio affiliates and also the CBS TV stuff. [SPEAKER_02]: So you get clips from all over the world. [SPEAKER_02]: That's how you're able to put a lot of stuff together as an affiliate. [SPEAKER_02]: You get other prep work and other things too.
[SPEAKER_02]: It's nice to be an affiliate that way. [SPEAKER_02]: same with the broadcast television you get the packages exactly all of that is available to you that's one of the reasons you decide to be an affiliate but so let's just say from the advertising if there are two minutes in that six minutes at the top of the hour in your radio news two minutes of it is advertising and let's say that it's a hundred bucks so you do a hundred bucks times [SPEAKER_02]: and then it's times 24 hours.
[SPEAKER_02]: That's a real nice chunk of change. [SPEAKER_02]: 140,000 basically times. [SPEAKER_08]: I want you to do that. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_08]: It's just, it's dying anyway. [SPEAKER_02]: But it's not. [SPEAKER_02]: But well, CBS it is. [SPEAKER_02]: But radio is not and broadcast television surprisingly is still not. [SPEAKER_02]: Because there are a whole lot of people who, for their local stations, they'll get the broadcast.
[SPEAKER_02]: They just, you know, have the little HD TV antenna and they get the broadcast. [SPEAKER_08]: And then they have older, I mean, there, that's a whole lot of people. [SPEAKER_02]: No, actually the younger kids are doing it. [SPEAKER_08]: And I still do it. [SPEAKER_02]: The younger kids are doing it, too, because what they do is they do like Amazon and Apple TV or whatever one that they want to pick. [SPEAKER_02]: That's what they do for their streaming stuff.
[SPEAKER_08]: And then they get the younger people watching CBS News or ABC News event. [SPEAKER_02]: They have the local, they have the local, the, yep, the statistics, local news. [SPEAKER_12]: I only watch local, local news until like turn 50 local. [SPEAKER_12]: You know, that's, you get the sports in the weather. [SPEAKER_08]: Stuff like that. [SPEAKER_02]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_02]: You need it. [SPEAKER_02]: That's what people pay attention to.
[SPEAKER_02]: And that's why they still, and that's why the kids say, well, hell, man, I have my internet. [SPEAKER_02]: And a lot of the, a lot of your local televisions, too. [SPEAKER_02]: They stream their stuff down too. [SPEAKER_02]: So they'll, they'll watch it there. [SPEAKER_02]: But they pay attention to their local affiliates just for those small things.
[SPEAKER_02]: But you still remember if the ads they're they're on the the broadcast and then they put the same ones on the the streaming It makes a nice amount of bank so the claim that well CBS radio news isn't making that much money [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah, exactly. [SPEAKER_02]: Yes, exactly. [SPEAKER_02]: They're propaganda. [SPEAKER_02]: Anita is 100% correct. [SPEAKER_08]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_02]: But they're also exactly. [SPEAKER_02]: Exactly.
[SPEAKER_02]: They're also bad people because they want to take this stuff that actually is good information that a lot of people care about.
[SPEAKER_02]: that they get into their cars and they you know every day at the same time and they may only listen for five minutes but they're listening for the local information they care about and they're like that screw that i'm gonna i'm gonna i'm gonna put this out so that way i can try to jam it and i'm like you don't think that they're gonna find that information somewhere else like here at the politics bar or there is a Tom Hartman or Stephanie Miller or Bob Sasca
[SPEAKER_02]: Well, that's an attribute politics podcast or they may be into their local radio station. [SPEAKER_02]: That I mean, if you don't think that they're going to find news that they trust somewhere else. [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, no, they stuck with us for years. [SPEAKER_02]: They're just going to keep sticking with us. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, so very dumb move, but it's gonna affect a number of folks and we just thought you guys should know. [SPEAKER_02]: So there you go.
[SPEAKER_02]: Thank you. [SPEAKER_02]: Thank you for that. [SPEAKER_02]: Well, we've got, we've got Karen and Anita here from the True Blue Politics podcast. [SPEAKER_02]: My favorite ladies. [SPEAKER_02]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_02]: We have our main reason. [SPEAKER_02]: We use the week because Lord knows it's been a crazy week of news. [SPEAKER_02]: We love we can do too. [SPEAKER_02]: So fresh in your drinks. [SPEAKER_02]: Do what you got to do. [SPEAKER_02]: Come on back.
[SPEAKER_02]: It's Friday night. [SPEAKER_02]: Here at the Palmits Park. [SPEAKER_05]: We'll be right back after we'd pay some bills at the politics bar. [SPEAKER_02]: Friday night at the politics bar. [SPEAKER_02]: You guys know what that means. [SPEAKER_02]: You regular around here. [SPEAKER_02]: You know what? [SPEAKER_02]: You love them. [SPEAKER_02]: Karen and Anita from the Trinboo politics podcast to my family. [SPEAKER_02]: Look, we love having you guys here.
[SPEAKER_02]: Look, it helps to actually kind of, you know, end of the week with some friends who are well informed who know some good jokes and are funny. [SPEAKER_02]: And that way you're like, man, this is a crazy week, but then you just kind of, you put the news to the side. [SPEAKER_02]: You're like, okay, we talked about it. [SPEAKER_02]: We know what happened. [SPEAKER_02]: We're done. [SPEAKER_02]: We go to the next week.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, fresh start which today, by the way, first day of spring technically because, you know, today was the the Vernal Econox we had that for the drink of the day. [SPEAKER_02]: So, you know, how was how was your day, by the way, for both of you? [SPEAKER_10]: I was busy working. [SPEAKER_10]: I was busy working. [SPEAKER_10]: After, yeah, so good. [SPEAKER_10]: A little, little money to run with that. [SPEAKER_02]: I need a house. [SPEAKER_02]: You're nice, so far.
[SPEAKER_08]: Fine, it's my sense for a day. [SPEAKER_08]: Happy birthday. [SPEAKER_08]: He's a baby. [SPEAKER_08]: He's a baby. [SPEAKER_08]: He's three, five. [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_08]: Oh, wow. [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_08]: He's a baby. [SPEAKER_02]: Unfortunately, he shares a birthday with Baron Trump. [SPEAKER_02]: He's 20. [SPEAKER_12]: Oh, my god. [SPEAKER_12]: No. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_12]: What 20?
[SPEAKER_12]: No. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: I saw a post on that that was like, yeah, it's Baron Trump's birthday. [SPEAKER_12]: I share mine with Nixon. [SPEAKER_12]: So hi. [SPEAKER_12]: I remember McIntyre. [SPEAKER_02]: I share my birthday with somebody really excellent my mother. [SPEAKER_02]: I was born on her birthday. [SPEAKER_12]: So my best friend her daughter was born on her 26th birthday. [SPEAKER_12]: So yeah, it's pretty much your mind with August 1st.
[SPEAKER_02]: Well, and also my wife, my wife, my wife, my sister. [SPEAKER_02]: I always have to be very careful about this because otherwise I sound like I'm from South of Mason Dixon line. [SPEAKER_02]: My wife, one person, my sister, a different person. [SPEAKER_02]: Both have their birthdays on the same day. [SPEAKER_02]: There we go. [SPEAKER_02]: There you go. [SPEAKER_02]: Otherwise if you don't say it carefully, you'd be like, no, I want my sister the same birthday.
[SPEAKER_12]: I also shared date with Denny Kay, who was awesome. [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: Fantastic. [SPEAKER_12]: That's cool. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, but no happy birthday to your son. [SPEAKER_12]: That's that is happy birthday little man. [SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to talk to you before we get getting to more of the war stuff and some of the other stuff.
[SPEAKER_02]: I was bummed about the fact that Trump's corrupt FCC regulators approved the TV ownership merger between next hour and techna. [SPEAKER_02]: But eight states, including California, New York, are suing to block that. [SPEAKER_02]: And as long as they can keep that sucker in court for another two and a half years. [SPEAKER_12]: Three, maybe. [SPEAKER_02]: Well, at least, yeah, two and a half until, you know, we get democratic Congress and democratic president.
[SPEAKER_12]: And then Elizabeth Warren is going to go like, no, no. [SPEAKER_08]: I think the DOJ Trump's DOJ is getting ready to indict the president of Columbia. [SPEAKER_08]: all Trump doesn't like. [SPEAKER_08]: Why? [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah, because they're going to try to do the same thing to him. [SPEAKER_02]: They can do it. [SPEAKER_02]: They can attempt that. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: No, that's not going to work. [SPEAKER_02]: That's that's not.
[SPEAKER_08]: Well, that's I know, but they're trying to take over, you know, the whole American country. [SPEAKER_02]: Look, but he's he's already got one more on his plate. [SPEAKER_02]: And he's already got the Cuban Miller, right? [SPEAKER_02]: No, yeah, which which it's the the whole thing with that is just done. [SPEAKER_02]: We've basically blockaded Cuba without technically calling it a blockade. [SPEAKER_02]: It's a blockade.
[SPEAKER_02]: Well, it's ridiculous when we literally we have it in the news on tap today that the head of the southern command has said there is no plan the U.S. military has absolutely no plan for a take over or a change of administration in Cuba. [SPEAKER_02]: So even if Marco says well we're going to replace them with another member of the castle family, which is what it sounds like Marco's doing. [SPEAKER_02]: They don't technically have a plan.
[SPEAKER_02]: The U.S. military doesn't have a plan. [SPEAKER_02]: They didn't have a plan. [SPEAKER_08]: They didn't have a plan. [SPEAKER_08]: They didn't have a plan. [SPEAKER_02]: They didn't have a plan. [SPEAKER_02]: They didn't have a plan. [SPEAKER_02]: They didn't have a plan for anything. [SPEAKER_08]: They don't have a plan for anything. [SPEAKER_08]: They don't have a plan for anything. [SPEAKER_08]: time and says stupid things and then they have to try to clean it up.
[SPEAKER_03]: Yep. [SPEAKER_03]: Yep. [SPEAKER_08]: I thought, didn't you say Marco Rubio was going to be the president of Cuba? [SPEAKER_08]: He did. [SPEAKER_08]: He did. [UNKNOWN]: He did. [SPEAKER_08]: He did. [SPEAKER_08]: He did. [SPEAKER_12]: He did. [SPEAKER_10]: He did. [SPEAKER_08]: He did. [SPEAKER_08]: He did. [SPEAKER_08]: He did. [SPEAKER_10]: He did. [SPEAKER_10]: He did. [SPEAKER_02]: So we had that story.
[SPEAKER_02]: We didn't get it in because we had so many of the stories early. [SPEAKER_02]: Donald Trump made a very weird, well, what we used to call a gaff, where he tried to insult Gavin Newsom for having dyslexia, but also called Gavin Newsom the president. [SPEAKER_02]: And then actually basically referred to him as the president, and we would want a president.
[SPEAKER_08]: With this, I'm learning that with he kept talking about learning disabilities and oh my god, he's right basically he was calling him dumb for that on my way, there are a lot of people with dyslexia and learning disabilities were very smart right now, very, very salted my god, he just isn't. [SPEAKER_08]: You know who has this. [SPEAKER_02]: I see Tom Cruise. [SPEAKER_08]: I'm Stein. [SPEAKER_02]: I'm Stein had this Lexia. [SPEAKER_02]: Right. [SPEAKER_08]: I'm sorry.
[SPEAKER_08]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_08]: Well. [SPEAKER_08]: My brother had it and he was one of the smart people I know. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: It's just, it's, Donald is just being an A whole. [SPEAKER_02]: And the fact that the mainstream media is still stuck on well, we still want Gavin Newsom to be the Democratic front runner. [SPEAKER_02]: The only reason you guys want that Newsom to be the front runner is because you have his phone number in his email.
[SPEAKER_02]: And you go, I could call him. [SPEAKER_02]: He's going to come on my little show. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, sorry, just makes, just makes me mad that the mainstream people do that. [SPEAKER_02]: I'm like, I'm sorry. [SPEAKER_02]: I like Pritzker. [SPEAKER_02]: I heard somebody else saying today. [SPEAKER_02]: I'm a little bit scared. [SPEAKER_02]: I'm a little scared. [SPEAKER_02]: I'm a little scared. [SPEAKER_02]: I'm a little scared. [SPEAKER_02]: I'm a little scared.
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm a little scared. [SPEAKER_02]: I'm a little scared. [SPEAKER_02]: I'm a little scared. [SPEAKER_02]: I'm a little scared.
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm a little scared. [SPEAKER_02]: I'm a little scared. [SPEAKER_02]: I'm a little scared. [SPEAKER_02]: One of those, I mean, whenever the option comes up, he's young, he's also very, also very young.
[SPEAKER_02]: But it's the idea of, I can't remember who else I heard, but somebody else said that they're going to start when they were, when they were referring to that, they're going to start referring to Pritzker instead of, of Newsom, just to try to put the rest of the National Media Off Balance. [SPEAKER_02]: And I was, I was internally applauding that. [SPEAKER_08]: Because I'm like, yeah, you never know who's going to come out on top. [SPEAKER_08]: I know. [SPEAKER_02]: It's years away.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, that's just it. [SPEAKER_02]: I want to worry about the twenty twenty six. [SPEAKER_02]: Thank you. [SPEAKER_08]: Rock a bomb and three years before. [UNKNOWN]: Right. [SPEAKER_12]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_12]: I remember him talking at the two thousand four. [SPEAKER_07]: Right. [SPEAKER_07]: I remember that. [SPEAKER_12]: And then Lonnie and I were watching it. [SPEAKER_12]: I'm like, that guy's going to be president. [SPEAKER_02]: I didn't make it four years later.
[SPEAKER_02]: We all knew that right. [SPEAKER_02]: That's just it. [SPEAKER_02]: We knew that it's some day he was going to be present. [SPEAKER_02]: But almost nobody thought it was going to be four years later. [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah, you know, I remember thinking, but he has that funny name. [SPEAKER_10]: My mom called that she said to my son when they met him. [SPEAKER_10]: Not when he was running for the Senate. [SPEAKER_10]: She said, Jimmy, that man is going to be the first black president.
[SPEAKER_12]: I just said no, it was going to be four years later. [SPEAKER_02]: Look, you got to get some smart people in Illinois. [SPEAKER_02]: And obviously, the elections, the primary elections happened this week. [SPEAKER_02]: So, Karen, what was your take? [SPEAKER_02]: We've got to take that we've talked about here. [SPEAKER_02]: But obviously, you know, one of my friends only lost by three points. [SPEAKER_02]: That's right. [SPEAKER_10]: She did. [SPEAKER_10]: She did great.
[SPEAKER_10]: She had a great showing and, you know, um. [SPEAKER_10]: Yeah, I think that Daniel Biss is a great guy, and I think that he's going to do a fantastic job. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, he's also very progressive correct. [SPEAKER_10]: And he, yes, yes, he is. [SPEAKER_10]: And so, you know, I just think that it's like now it's time for cat and anybody that was running in that race to coalesce around Daniel Bissing. [SPEAKER_08]: Oh, she is funny. [SPEAKER_08]: Oh, she is funny.
[UNKNOWN]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: I heard the supporters were out there talking about, you know, she's already, the good, the good supporters if you watched her her Contestionate Concession speech, yeah, and she said, you know, look, now that, you know, we didn't win this one of that sucks But we've got to get out there and help progressives around Illinois and around the country now, we're in, who's ever won in the in the, the, the primary We got to help win in the general
[SPEAKER_02]: It's made it very explicit that your job now is get out there, which the one thing that I said is that Biss needs to clean up that little thing with the the woman who said there might have been something untoward that he was, you know, he was a teacher or a student teacher and she was a student. [SPEAKER_02]: And like that's fine. [SPEAKER_02]: But there's some racial issues too with the Senate Prime Minister.
[SPEAKER_02]: Where there was some some hostility there in Illinois between South Asian folks and some black folks as far as that goes I've heard and I know that the lieutenant governor there in Illinois. [SPEAKER_10]: you know, yeah, well, that's where the dinner governor. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, but she was on Lawrence. [SPEAKER_02]: I saw a clip of her on Lawrence. [SPEAKER_02]: And she's smart as a whip. [SPEAKER_02]: She's going to hilariously. [SPEAKER_02]: Good senator.
[SPEAKER_12]: Oh, no, and with cat. [SPEAKER_12]: She's only 26. [SPEAKER_12]: She's only 26. [SPEAKER_12]: She's got. [SPEAKER_12]: She's a brother. [SPEAKER_02]: And she's very good. [SPEAKER_10]: Good for office. [SPEAKER_02]: Any office?
[SPEAKER_02]: any office and the thing that the biggest thing that I see, yes, she didn't raise a considering the fact that the APAC aimed most of their $21 million that they spent, which is insane in the Illinois Democratic primaries, they aimed at at at, uh, Augusteella and this, yeah, which I'm like.
[SPEAKER_02]: okay that's just insane and they were doing all kinds of dirty crap like you know here's this thing that isn't really us and we're paying people $1,500 right but here's the here's the thing the biggest reason why I'm I'm proud of her is a friend and I'm proud of her just as as as a Democrat as somebody who votes for Democratic candidates because instead of going out and begging for money instead of going out and saying to a billionaire please I may have some
[SPEAKER_02]: She went out and did things like she made her campaign stations, mutual aid stations. [SPEAKER_02]: So there are literally thousands of people in Illinois who got helped, who were less hungry, who got clothes, who got diapers for their kids, because she chose to campaign in a different way. [SPEAKER_02]: And you can't now as a Democrat run and say, well, you know, the only way that you can you have to campaign you have to go kiss the asses of the billionaires.
[SPEAKER_02]: Another one. [SPEAKER_02]: No. [SPEAKER_08]: No. [SPEAKER_08]: The problem is you can run like that, maybe in a local election like that. [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_08]: But the truth is. [SPEAKER_08]: This is the system that we, you know, you're not wrong, you're not wrong. [SPEAKER_02]: And we understand that, but it, it starts changing that system is something, well, hopefully once we're elected, but it, right, exactly, Jody, it starts locally.
[SPEAKER_02]: And it starts with changing people's minds, because it's a, right, if people say, it can't be done, but if somebody says, here, I'm going to show you that it can.
[SPEAKER_10]: Then people go, I remember that chicken in Illinois and I didn't know very well and I mean there are a number of examples that we can cite of, you know, where people thought it would never happen right you know and then it happens and I mean yeah and I mean you know, but the fact of the matter is for her and that district to come that close [SPEAKER_02]: mm-hmm. [SPEAKER_02]: I'm she getting it.
[SPEAKER_08]: No, she should be she should be very proud of herself and she's very proud and she's very good at getting free publicity She was and I you know what she's a journalist in the media recently [SPEAKER_10]: Right, when you're not taking corporate money, I guess. [SPEAKER_02]: Exactly.
[SPEAKER_02]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_02]: And I'm just, and I, so I'm just, it makes me proud, and I look at that, and I say, OK, Democrats, we can't stand here and say that we're better than Republicans, and then do the same crap. [SPEAKER_02]: Like with the Caesar Chavez stuff that came out this week. [SPEAKER_02]: They are already there already a lot of places that are like John told us last night in the bar Jody.
[SPEAKER_02]: We've got a story I think on that in the in the news on tap out there are people are like, nope Let's change the name of that street right away to Dolores Cuerto way as opposed to seizure shop as way No, even Los Angeles has said no. [SPEAKER_12]: It's now farmers work. [SPEAKER_02]: Yes, day Change the name change Oh [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_08]: You missed out this week. [SPEAKER_08]: I mean, I missed it. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: No worries.
[SPEAKER_02]: No, if you missed it, we got the story. [SPEAKER_02]: And yesterday's news on tap. [SPEAKER_08]: I didn't see the harvest. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: She had a young girl. [SPEAKER_02]: And young girls. [SPEAKER_02]: And young girls. [SPEAKER_10]: Girls who are the best in class. [SPEAKER_02]: Yes, he is. [SPEAKER_12]: He's been out and talked about it. [SPEAKER_02]: Yes. [SPEAKER_02]: She wrote a whole piece that we've got in yesterday's news on tap.
[SPEAKER_12]: The New York Times had a five year. [SPEAKER_12]: investigation on Cesar Chavez. [SPEAKER_12]: And it turns out that he not only raped her, which came out later, but he raped children. [SPEAKER_12]: little girl. [SPEAKER_02]: Wow. [SPEAKER_12]: So he's part of the Trump Epstein. [SPEAKER_02]: It's a bad thing. [SPEAKER_12]: He was a good person for what he did, but she was part of the movement. [SPEAKER_12]: He was his right-hand woman, right in person to take a break.
[SPEAKER_02]: Right. [SPEAKER_08]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_02]: It's okay. [SPEAKER_02]: It's okay. [SPEAKER_02]: No, it's we actually have no for members who did. [SPEAKER_02]: He was better yesterday. [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_08]: I know, I remember there's a little girl might, you know, my mom should only camp like grace. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_08]: No, that was the right thing at the time. [SPEAKER_12]: We all thought it.
[SPEAKER_02]: I think that's that's the thing is that we can do accountability. [SPEAKER_02]: We can do this. [SPEAKER_02]: We can campaign. [SPEAKER_02]: We can have better candidates. [SPEAKER_02]: We can campaign better. [SPEAKER_02]: And then we can honestly say when these Republicans, the non-magor Republicans and even the magor Republicans come to us and they go, oh yeah, you think you're better and we can go, yeah.
[SPEAKER_02]: because when it comes to accountability, the moment that we knew that it's still in the open icon, don't. [SPEAKER_02]: We don't, we don't hide the paperwork behind people who rape children on our side. [SPEAKER_02]: You want to be with us? [SPEAKER_02]: Does that discuss you? [SPEAKER_02]: And of course, there are so many of them that are disgusted by what Trump and Epstein did.
[SPEAKER_10]: And let's call it what it is by partisan agreement that we want accountability at the bipartisan level. [SPEAKER_10]: And if the Republicans don't want to join the Democrats to hold people accountable. [SPEAKER_07]: Yes. [SPEAKER_10]: Right. [SPEAKER_10]: Then we hold the Democrats accountable. [SPEAKER_10]: But this is a thing. [SPEAKER_10]: It has to be because there we know that it's on both sides and we can't have to keep pointing that out.
[SPEAKER_10]: And the more information that comes out, the more that's going to be apparent. [SPEAKER_02]: Amen. [SPEAKER_02]: I just, I'm just saying we can be better and we damn sure should be because then when they say, Oh yeah, you think you're better and we can say, no, we can prove we're better. [SPEAKER_02]: So if you want to be, if you still want to vote for somebody. [SPEAKER_11]: We got how many can we get into the winner? [SPEAKER_11]: We got so many people.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, we're doing we're doing we're doing the work. [SPEAKER_02]: You want to come over here where we're doing the work You can get on the bus. [SPEAKER_02]: We aren't gonna let you drive, but by God will save you a seat. [SPEAKER_02]: So, you know, I'm I'm down with that. [SPEAKER_02]: So All right, we got to do it. [SPEAKER_02]: I'm freaking that I think it was mistake. [SPEAKER_02]: It was a mistake, but he still got canceled [SPEAKER_02]: I'm with you right.
[SPEAKER_02]: Look, we got one more round and we'll probably do it after hours because y'all know we talk around here. [SPEAKER_02]: That's just the way it is. [SPEAKER_02]: We're chatting. [SPEAKER_02]: We love them and we love you guys too. [SPEAKER_02]: So get your drink refreshed. [SPEAKER_02]: We got one more round on a Friday night here at the politics bar. [SPEAKER_05]: We'll be right back after we pay some bills at the politics bar.
[SPEAKER_02]: Last call on a Friday night, here's politics bar and it is a good thing to get through all of this The news is heavy sometimes, but you know what when you have good friends who will laugh with you and talk with you about it Especially when you're hanging out at a bar, you're having drinks, you're having fun It's a lot easier to get through the news.
[SPEAKER_02]: We do help you out with the news on tap, which is free You can subscribe just to the news on tap if you want to [SPEAKER_02]: or you can subscribe to the whole thing at the politicsbar.com. [SPEAKER_02]: It's there at the politicsbar.com.
[SPEAKER_02]: Karen, by the way, has a piece that we have linked in today's news. [SPEAKER_12]: She doesn't play chair drums. [SPEAKER_02]: Well, yeah, you know, you guys are all doing, you know, your your air musicianship. [SPEAKER_02]: I happen to be, you know, reading the notes that it's like you kind of do the promotion notes sometimes fine, whatever, yes, I make notes for myself that tells me, hey, dummy do that. [SPEAKER_02]: So I do that.
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, by the way, uh, speaking of me is a dummy because I hadn't checked the score earlier today. [SPEAKER_02]: I was so excited because I was thinking, I saw another last night. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I saw my, my Husker women. [SPEAKER_02]: They won their first round in the NCAA tournament. [SPEAKER_02]: They did not win their second round against Baylor, but it was still close. [SPEAKER_02]: It was within like three or four weeks. [SPEAKER_12]: Oh, honey.
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, no, don't worry. [SPEAKER_02]: Don't worry. [SPEAKER_02]: The fact that the Husker women got into the NCAA tournament this year. [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, and the fact that they played in, I'm proud of them. [SPEAKER_02]: It's, you know, it's good to have the Nebraska men won yesterday. [SPEAKER_02]: And they got their next game tomorrow. [SPEAKER_02]: So.
[SPEAKER_02]: It's all good, it's all good, it's all good, it's all good, it's all good, it's all good, it's all good, it's all good, it's all good, it's all good, it's all good, it's all good, it's all good, it's all good, it's all good, it's all good, it's all good, it's all good, it's all good, it's all good, it's all good, it's all good, it's all good, it's all good, it's all good, it's all good, it's all good, it's all good, it's all good, it's all good, it's all good, it's all good, it's all good, it's all good, it's all good, it's all good, it's all good, it's all good, it's all good, it's all good, it's all good, it's all good, it's all good, it's all good, it's all
[SPEAKER_02]: just figure them out saying it's all saying so anyway you can take some money this month that's what i'm talking about right here's a need is on my side you know but when you get all of this you also happen to get uh... the news on tap and in today's news on tap in the gas section at the bottom we linked to your piece over on stubs sub-stack here and it's uh...
[SPEAKER_02]: I think it's a good piece of think you were talking with Richard a little bit about that today about false equivalencies and how Democrats should I think be more confident and and less willing to quibble I think that's kind of a Yes, I can summary.
[SPEAKER_10]: Yeah, so you know pretty much just and I was kind of triggered I was listening to somebody this week on our side of strategist a democratic strategist and he [SPEAKER_10]: he quantified, qualified his statement about Donald Trump with Joe Biden was imperfect. [SPEAKER_10]: But, and I was like, why do we have to keep saying that? [SPEAKER_10]: Yeah, but it is perfect. [SPEAKER_10]: We don't need to point that out.
[SPEAKER_10]: Just move on to your point because the media, as we all know, already does that. [SPEAKER_10]: They already do the mainstream media does a false equivalencies. [SPEAKER_10]: If you have gone and watched any Sunday morning show. [SPEAKER_10]: You know, I mean, so why are we doing the work? [SPEAKER_10]: We don't have to do that. [SPEAKER_08]: Even when they say, you know, oh, the economy is good, you know, I know some people are still suffering.
[SPEAKER_08]: I mean, that's what they do. [SPEAKER_08]: They always call for everything. [SPEAKER_08]: And that is, you're talking about. [SPEAKER_02]: Yes, exactly right. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I get it. [SPEAKER_02]: I understand. [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I do sometimes when I say things like I don't always agree with whoever. [SPEAKER_02]: And I, and sometimes I catch myself and, you know, and I don't say it.
[SPEAKER_02]: So I, and with you, but I do think that just as a general of thumb, I'm it shouldn't be hard and fast. [SPEAKER_02]: If you say it, nobody's going to come down in a ton of bricks, but I think you're right in saying that we need to be more assertive don't and and get [SPEAKER_10]: and give them no order and that's a part of messaging. [SPEAKER_10]: That is a part of messaging. [SPEAKER_10]: Because, you know, the Republicans are shameless in their messaging.
[SPEAKER_10]: We don't have to be shameless in our messaging. [SPEAKER_10]: Just state the facts. [SPEAKER_10]: State the facts. [SPEAKER_10]: So it's that they're in qualified. [SPEAKER_10]: And because when we say, well, Joe Biden was imperfect, but this is the thing. [SPEAKER_10]: What is your faction in that scenario? [SPEAKER_10]: The fact that he wasn't able to get every single thing done. [SPEAKER_10]: Well, he wasn't able to get the things that he wanted. [SPEAKER_10]: to do.
[SPEAKER_10]: No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no,
[SPEAKER_10]: The fact of the matter is, and it always is case, Democrats are unable to get everything that they want to get accomplished for the people in this country because of Republican obstruction and unwillingness to actually do their jobs to serve the people. [SPEAKER_08]: And you're right, but that's, that's the thing is is Republicans, it is about messaging more with them. [SPEAKER_10]: They don't better, because you know, why don't that?
[SPEAKER_10]: And the thing of it is, when we do that, we're assuming that everybody is sophisticated, like, we are, you know, that we can consumers of consumers of this. [SPEAKER_10]: But there are so many people and I'm meeting more and more of them that are independent or just, or not even independence. [SPEAKER_10]: They vote democratic, but they don't really do politics on a regular basis and they kind of have that.
[SPEAKER_10]: Yeah, they're all kind of the same, but I'm going to vote for a Democrat because whatever. [SPEAKER_10]: But the reality of the situation, though that audience, those people that pay attention, but not is much attention to us. [SPEAKER_10]: Let's not give them the false equivalency. [SPEAKER_10]: We're just likely handing it over to them. [SPEAKER_02]: Right. [SPEAKER_02]: And look, let me clear.
[SPEAKER_02]: That's one of the reasons why we do there are a number of reasons why we have the news on tap. [SPEAKER_02]: One of it is so it's it's really easy because it helps Jody and I gather our thoughts. [SPEAKER_02]: It helps us kind of have something to refer to as we're talking to you guys. [SPEAKER_02]: You're like, I want to know a little bit more. [SPEAKER_02]: Instead of taking 10 minutes on every subject, which we don't have, you know, we hit the subject.
[SPEAKER_02]: You can read a little more of it on your own. [SPEAKER_02]: That's fine. [SPEAKER_02]: That's why we have it there. [SPEAKER_02]: it also helps us so if somebody comes back and says, well, you said this and I don't know, I might think about some legal action. [SPEAKER_02]: We can be like, look, here's all the things we said about. [SPEAKER_02]: This is where we got our information from it.
[SPEAKER_02]: So if you don't like it, suck it, you know, you can go fight the New York Times in which they won't do. [SPEAKER_02]: So there's a lot of reasons, but it also helps for everybody who is busy in life. [SPEAKER_02]: You're listening to us while you're doing whatever you're doing this evening.
[SPEAKER_02]: You're maybe you're making dinner, you're having a late dinner, or you know, you're cleaning something up, or you're busy in the yard, you're driving somewhere, and you've got us in your radio. [SPEAKER_02]: And it helps because you can, you know, once a day, at least weekdays, you'll look through, you'll look through the list that we send in the news on tap and you're able to go, oh, this is actually what's going on. [SPEAKER_02]: Read the headlines real quick.
[SPEAKER_02]: two minutes and you are as updated. [SPEAKER_02]: So then when you're listening to all of us talk here at the bar, you're ready. [SPEAKER_02]: And you know what's going on. [SPEAKER_02]: And you're like, Oh, yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: I know why you guys are talking about the, the, uh, so madness because they're playing the basketball. [SPEAKER_10]: So when you have, right.
[SPEAKER_10]: So when you have somebody listening to one segment, and that's all they can because they're so busy with their day or whatever, my God, make it count. [SPEAKER_10]: Don't make, don't sit there and, and draw, like say something, because that's the only information they're getting. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_10]: You know, some people are getting. [SPEAKER_10]: That's right.
[SPEAKER_02]: And that's and that's part of the reason that we help everybody here at the bar that way just makes it easier in that way everybody's like and everybody has a resource there where they can go oh crap well you know i'll just go check and see if they have it there is probably there i'll probably be able to find it maybe read up a little bit more makes life really freaking easy so that's it's it's a nice thing to do and i i agree with you you're your piece there which they should read from the sub stack link we have there in the news on tab is just
[SPEAKER_02]: Be confident folks. [SPEAKER_02]: If you're going to, you're going to promote a democratic candidate, whether you're a Democrat and independent or even if you happen to be an ever Trump Republican who's voting democratic, we ain't going to tell anybody. [SPEAKER_02]: You're secret, say for this. [SPEAKER_02]: I have friends. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, look, we got friends. [SPEAKER_02]: We know people.
[SPEAKER_02]: And the fact is, look, be confident and say when Democrats regain power, these are things we're going to do. [SPEAKER_02]: And you know that some of them may not happen, but you know what? [SPEAKER_02]: by God be confident, ain't no reason not to be. [SPEAKER_08]: So, I wish we could get Democrats to do that. [SPEAKER_08]: I mean, Democratic office holders, you know. [SPEAKER_08]: Well, yeah, I don't need to get better. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, especially with the Iran War.
[SPEAKER_02]: Look, we can talk about that because I know we've wanted to talk about that. [SPEAKER_02]: They're saying things like Democrats have made it extremely clear. [SPEAKER_02]: And you've got some of these moderate Democrats who have not been very vociferous, like Adam Smith.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, Adam Smith has made it very, you know, he had a podcast with Greg Sargent here earlier this week and he made it very clear not one goddamn dime is I believe what he said and what I'm done, you know, when Adam Smith, when Adam Smith, when Adam Smith, when Adam Smith, when Adam Smith, I, Adam's a nice guy, Mr. Smith is a nice guy, I'm not related, but well, no, no, no, no, Oscar, it's not going to vote for any of that, no, no, no, no, no, no, Oscar, it's not going to vote for any of that, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, Oscar, it's not going to vote for any of that, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, Oscar, it's not going to vote for any of that, no, no, no, no, no, no, no,
[SPEAKER_02]: But even even federalmen I don't think would. [SPEAKER_02]: And the idea is the fact that look, Democrats have been very united in saying, I'm sorry, but this Iran War thing was crap. [SPEAKER_02]: Obviously not well planned. [SPEAKER_02]: We're not going to vote for any more money on this period. [SPEAKER_02]: They've been very, very firm on you. [SPEAKER_02]: You want money for DHS? [SPEAKER_02]: You want it? [SPEAKER_02]: We'll give it to everybody except ICE and CBP.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: and and and they have held the line so they have been more firm on that too so that's what i'm saying i'm i'm glad they're doing them at with this a ran more and because of that that gives some political cover to people like learning the operative all things who she said i'm not giving it time to the war yeah she's like kind of they're going to be republicans that cross the aisle
[SPEAKER_02]: Right, and look, she was one of the ones that crossed the aisle on the Epstein files to see what she figured she's got some political Call of the child ready to say. [SPEAKER_08]: Right. [SPEAKER_08]: She's going to take for sure. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: Right. [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: And good.
[SPEAKER_02]: Because, you know, if there was a plan, if this regime had a plan and they could say like W, like his father, even though W lied to us, at least he did the decency of taking him here. [SPEAKER_02]: He took a year, he took a year, he went to the UN, he went to Congress. [SPEAKER_02]: He saw a guy. [SPEAKER_02]: He saw a guy. [SPEAKER_12]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_12]: I mentioned Powell right after that. [SPEAKER_12]: And I almost said, what did they have on you?
[SPEAKER_02]: He believed that was, if you, if you read his biography and things, he sincerely believed the information that they were telling him, he didn't double-check it until later, which, whatever. [SPEAKER_08]: But, you know, that was the shadow of 90s, and a lot of people were still. [SPEAKER_08]: From a taste. [SPEAKER_12]: Yes, yes, we were it was I met him in 2002 so it's before.
[SPEAKER_02]: I mean it was 2003 when my mom got on earth whenever It doesn't see yeah, but but the the long and short is that this is nothing like either of those because this is Donnie just going You know what I'm going to go over and slap somebody and tell them on the boss and you're going to do what I say which is Extremely stupid dangerous War by choice is a war by whim [SPEAKER_02]: Yes, oh, that's a great phrase.
[SPEAKER_02]: Well, like Deb, I think I may borrow that from whoever said it. [SPEAKER_02]: I like that. [SPEAKER_08]: I don't think you'll need it. [SPEAKER_03]: I don't know. [SPEAKER_02]: I don't know. [SPEAKER_02]: I need a funeral credit. [SPEAKER_02]: I don't need a funeral credit. [SPEAKER_02]: I don't need a funeral credit. [SPEAKER_12]: I don't need a funeral credit. [SPEAKER_06]: I don't need a funeral credit.
[SPEAKER_02]: But that's, but the fact of the matter is, is that we are not, this is not. [SPEAKER_02]: And that Democrats are already in some ways following your lead Karen and saying, you know, look, they're being a little bit more assertive and saying, no. [SPEAKER_02]: We're not going to do that. [SPEAKER_02]: And I'm so glad they're doing that with the immigration stuff. [SPEAKER_02]: And they're saying, no, until until we get it, we're best for just a small group of things.
[SPEAKER_02]: We want names. [SPEAKER_02]: We want no mass. [SPEAKER_02]: We want legitimate warrants. [SPEAKER_02]: There's it. [SPEAKER_02]: If you guys can't handle those, go pound sand. [SPEAKER_02]: And then the Democrats keep coming back and saying, we are more than glad to fund TSA and the Coast Guard. [SPEAKER_02]: And all these things, it's the Republicans. [SPEAKER_12]: But Sean, the problem is, I'm sorry, Anita, the problem is is that the media is not saying that.
[SPEAKER_02]: Right, but we are. [SPEAKER_12]: No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no,
[SPEAKER_02]: have but a lot of them are basically trying to ignore it right now because they're like nobody needs to do that because it's boring and I'm like that's not boring people are going at the airport they're going to wait for hours I'm with you [SPEAKER_02]: I heard Houston had a five-hour wait. [SPEAKER_02]: I'm with you on that. [SPEAKER_02]: I get it. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, yes, exactly. [SPEAKER_02]: We're going to talk about guys as you can tell as we usually do on Friday night.
[SPEAKER_02]: Sure, sure. [SPEAKER_02]: She's like, yes. [SPEAKER_02]: Shake your head vigorously. [SPEAKER_02]: So here's what we're going to do. [SPEAKER_02]: We are going to take this.
[SPEAKER_02]: keep it here in the bar but we're taking over to the politics bar dot com you guys can listen to the after hours there we make it free so you can keep on listening there for all of you listening on a great radio affiliates thank you very much for that by the way next week we're going to have some good people in obviously Brooklyn dad to find on monday comedian Jen Kirkman how about right here good weekend first weekend of spring be safe be smart you son screen we'll see you monday night here at the politics bar
