[SPEAKER_00]: It's political Pinky, radical Pinky, it's a fun way But you are the politics Sponsored Shotsmith, Harrison, Jody Hamilton [SPEAKER_05]: Good Monday evening, Jodie, how you doing? [SPEAKER_05]: I'm okay, how you doing? [SPEAKER_05]: You know, look, there are a lot of storms out here at this end of the bar, but this was expected. [SPEAKER_05]: In fact, you can pretty much just put that phrase on repeat. [SPEAKER_05]: This was expected. [SPEAKER_05]: This was expected.
[SPEAKER_05]: Sorry. [SPEAKER_05]: It's my annoyance. [SPEAKER_05]: It's fine. [SPEAKER_05]: We'll talk about it. [SPEAKER_05]: It's part of the news of the day. [SPEAKER_05]: We will get to the news on tap. [SPEAKER_05]: Obviously talk about rant talk about Republicans attacking our democracy And of course, we've got Brooklyn dad to find coming in and joining Jody and I here this evening. [SPEAKER_05]: Big thanks by the way to everybody who is also joining us
[SPEAKER_05]: coming in the doors right now from wherever you happen to be, whether you are listening on WCPTA, M-A-20 in Chicago, or A-M-950, manyapolis say Paul, maybe you're listening on Georgia now, radio in Atlanta, or somewhere else in Georgia, or maybe you are listening to the detour talk in Tennessee, or progressive voices radio worldwide, wherever you happen to be, or, you know, maybe you have to be one of those by the YouTube people.
[SPEAKER_12]: I do want to do a shout out quickly to Hawaii. [SPEAKER_12]: Oh, yeah, we love Hawaii because they've been bombarded with really torrential rains. [SPEAKER_05]: Oh, yeah, it's been like, uh, what do they call that to atmospheric river? [SPEAKER_12]: Yeah, and it hit Hawaii really badly. [SPEAKER_12]: It hit the burn areas in La Hina, and even the non burn areas on the other side of the island and key黑 side. [SPEAKER_12]: Um, they lost a road key黑 side.
[SPEAKER_12]: Um, [SPEAKER_12]: Uh, so especially Maui, but Oahu is also hit really badly because there's a guy he was showing a video on TikTok. [SPEAKER_12]: I'm like, I state a hotel right behind where he was walking. [SPEAKER_12]: And it was a good to walk through was, you know, above his ankles, certainly in danger. [SPEAKER_05]: When you walk in that snow, I've been Minnesota was constantly all around Chicago.
[SPEAKER_05]: I'm sure our folks in WCPT land all of a sudden it was, hey, two in your two feet of snow, [SPEAKER_12]: And I'm noticing that I'm not a hundred percent sure, but here on our spectrum weather cast, it says four castor and then they have in parentheses euro. [SPEAKER_12]: So I don't even think they're using our own stuff anymore, not know what, I think they're using European models now. [SPEAKER_05]: We've talked about that.
[SPEAKER_05]: And the Euro map is the the Euro forecast maps are actually a little bit more accurate right now because they actually happen to be putting money into the euro and that they're they're they're doing they're investing in their information and what do you know they give it it's like you could almost see it coming. [SPEAKER_12]: But so I just wanted to do a shout out to my old, my old peeps, um, in fact, Sean, who works with Lonnie, the animator that works with Lonnie.
[SPEAKER_12]: He's on the big island. [SPEAKER_12]: They weren't hit as badly because of how the storm is going. [SPEAKER_12]: And his side of the island, he was side is is. [SPEAKER_12]: just how he was hit wasn't as bad as bad, but now he got hit. [SPEAKER_12]: I think worse than a wahoo. [SPEAKER_12]: No, we're all bad.
[SPEAKER_05]: I don't know about some of the the furthest West territories of the U.S. [SPEAKER_05]: But I do know that why you got hits West Coast got, and of course East Coast has these these new nasty storms right now, which [SPEAKER_05]: you know, being from Nebraska. [SPEAKER_05]: I'm a little bit more jaded when it comes to, you know, people this time of year. [SPEAKER_05]: Good. [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, but I still it's it's just ridiculous.
[SPEAKER_05]: It's [SPEAKER_05]: Yes, whether is significantly worse. [SPEAKER_05]: And the scientists told us that, see how I said this is gonna be a theme? [SPEAKER_05]: We told you, so we told you, so good, sorry. [SPEAKER_05]: Oh, I almost think we should borrow that from Bob, you know, the, you were wondering. [SPEAKER_12]: Do you reward? [SPEAKER_12]: We tried to tell you, you were worth you dummy. [SPEAKER_05]: That's worth it.
[SPEAKER_05]: Right, I can't remember who on one of our social channels here actually said something over the weekend. [SPEAKER_05]: I was like, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, we should get that from Bob, you're warned. [SPEAKER_05]: Because, [SPEAKER_05]: There has been so much that we have been warned about, and yet the stupid people, we allowed them to take power, and unfortunately.
[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, so in the news on tap today, what you can get by the way, subscribing for free at the politicsbar.com. [SPEAKER_05]: Um, the news on tap literally talks about this, Trump's stupid war with Iran.
[SPEAKER_05]: I'm going to skip down to the section called the cost of war because the Wall Street Journal had a good piece and we got a free link to it there, which says that Trump was warned about the risk of Iran blocking the streets of Hormuz by Joint Chiefs Chairman General Kane and he still went to war with Iran anyway because it's fun. [SPEAKER_05]: That was the thing.
[SPEAKER_05]: If you, if you look literally over the weekend, Iran, so we struck Carg Island, which is their major export hub, but 90% of the oil going out of Iran goes through that export hub. [SPEAKER_05]: Makes sense. [SPEAKER_05]: We've got similar export hubs in California in, uh, believe Louisiana. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_05]: You know, makes sense.
[SPEAKER_05]: Well, we struck kind of the, if you think of the, the exit valve, we didn't strike the actual refineries because Donald says because he was being nice, but he did say we might strike that island again, just for fun. [SPEAKER_05]: This is after Iran said, you know, look, we're willing to negotiate, start negotiating a ceasefire and Trump went, no, no, no, because I haven't had my fun yet.
[SPEAKER_05]: I don't by the way, six more U.S. crew members were identified the ones that were killed in Iraq because Donald was having fun. [SPEAKER_05]: How would you like to be the person who asked to tell the children of those service members? [SPEAKER_05]: Hey, your parents died because Donald wanted to have fun. [SPEAKER_12]: Oh, they'll find out. [SPEAKER_05]: Those children. [SPEAKER_05]: They will find out. [SPEAKER_05]: I'm sure you will.
[SPEAKER_05]: I'm sure some of the family members already know, but [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, because I don't want to have fun, more Americans died. [SPEAKER_05]: And the cost of your gas by the way, this one from a belief triple A gas prices in the US up to 372 a gallon on this Monday evening. [SPEAKER_05]: Highs level since October of 2023 has spikes 27% in the last month from 293 a gallon up to 372 a gallon average across the US. [SPEAKER_05]: Biggest spike US has seen in the past.
[SPEAKER_05]: 30 years the cost is still over a billion dollars a day for us to have all the military in that area and like we said you were warned and it's fun. [SPEAKER_12]: Wow Yeah, this is what does he think it's fun? [SPEAKER_12]: That's my question [SPEAKER_05]: look at the videos that they put out.
[SPEAKER_05]: Oh God, those that that mashed up video games with war stuff because when you remove all of the ugliness from it, when you remove the parts of governing that are actually about what governing is about. [SPEAKER_05]: So I used to, um, I was acquainted with a young woman who was in the, the Combshop, the Communications Shop of the White House. [SPEAKER_05]: Uh, when, um, Joe Biden was there, and another person I knew when Barack Obama was there.
[SPEAKER_05]: Um, Biden did it somewhat, not as much, but Barack Obama made sure that he read nine to ten letters, mostly letters, occasionally meals. [SPEAKER_05]: hand-wrote replies every day every day they picked a random selection of them Biden got them to so that way they actually knew what real Americans were thinking [SPEAKER_05]: Donald Trump, I'm sure he's never done that and doesn't give a damn what you think.
[SPEAKER_11]: Well, let's see, I must say, go, it reads, dear sir, we love you so, so much. [SPEAKER_05]: And especially if it's somebody who's under the age of 18. [SPEAKER_12]: Just say it. [SPEAKER_05]: Well, there we go. [SPEAKER_05]: I look, it's Donald's friend, Jeffrey, just say it. [SPEAKER_12]: Anyway, and it's not going away, Donald, sorry. [SPEAKER_05]: Sorry, not sorry.
[SPEAKER_05]: Anyway, but when you are [SPEAKER_05]: When you're producer, we notice a couple of things over the weekend. [SPEAKER_05]: At the Oscars, which was mostly good, mostly good news. [SPEAKER_05]: Congrats, by the way, to your friend, Paul. [SPEAKER_12]: I'm so happy for him. [SPEAKER_05]: Which is great. [SPEAKER_12]: Over to, I just, I'm so happy for him and Sean Penn, third Oscar for him. [SPEAKER_12]: Yeah, he was going to Ukraine, everybody.
[SPEAKER_05]: So, yeah, he was given a second person in Zalinsky because Sean Penn has been a good friend to Ukraine. [SPEAKER_12]: So, and Haiti and other places where there's [SPEAKER_05]: because he's got a lot of money and he figures, let's do something worthwhile with it. [SPEAKER_12]: And let's put the eyes on me, if not on them, put them on me, then I'm there. [SPEAKER_05]: Right, exactly. [SPEAKER_05]: So, but congrats to all the good.
[SPEAKER_05]: But we both noticed there were some issues with the production, because that's what we do. [SPEAKER_05]: We noticed these things because we have many, many, many years producing in radio and TV and movies and live things and whatever. [SPEAKER_05]: We've done all that good stuff. [SPEAKER_05]: So we know what's coming up and we know that other people should have known what was coming up. [SPEAKER_05]: Right. [SPEAKER_05]: And yet, and it's exactly the same way with Trump and Iran.
[SPEAKER_05]: He spent most of the last year pissing off our traditional allies. [SPEAKER_05]: So now he's going around threatening other nations that they need to come help with his work. [SPEAKER_05]: Right, Joe, he's giving me, I'm shocked face. [SPEAKER_12]: he did what he did he put tariffs on the entire world and now wants the entire world to help him.
[SPEAKER_05]: Yes, that's exactly what Donald wants except Germany says no nine exactly here starman from the UK was very clear and remember he's he's politically kind of on the edge right now now starman was like look he's like I have I feel very confident on this. [SPEAKER_06]: while taking the necessary action to defend ourselves and our allies. [SPEAKER_06]: We will not be drawn into the wider world.
[SPEAKER_06]: And third, we will keep working towards a swift resolution that brings security and stability back to the region. [SPEAKER_06]: Listen, here cannot allow the war in the Gulf. [SPEAKER_06]: to turn into a windfall for Putin. [SPEAKER_06]: Thank you. [SPEAKER_05]: He actually comes out and says it and has absolutely no problem saying what everybody is knowing, which is this war has benefiting one person and one person primarily above all others. [SPEAKER_05]: Vladimir Putin.
[SPEAKER_12]: There was a friend of a friend of mine posted on Facebook today. [SPEAKER_12]: This person that he goes, we'll listen to what his argument is about supporting the war. [SPEAKER_12]: Are we going to, are all you anti Iranian war people going to be, uh, Neville Chamberlain? [SPEAKER_05]: No, this has nothing to do. [SPEAKER_05]: Those are to it. [SPEAKER_12]: They're an argument was, well, Iran wants to do all these things. [SPEAKER_12]: Well, Iran is not invading Poland.
[SPEAKER_12]: Iran is not invading Israel, by the way. [SPEAKER_12]: They're not doing that. [SPEAKER_05]: Iran is a severely weakened state because of some of the previous things that have been done. [SPEAKER_05]: Sanctions. [SPEAKER_05]: You know what would have made things even better? [SPEAKER_05]: If we had followed the JCPOA, that multiple nations, including some that are not our friends. [SPEAKER_05]: Like Russia. [SPEAKER_05]: right.
[SPEAKER_05]: If we had followed that, there was a much better chance that there would have been a change in regime, naturally. [SPEAKER_12]: Because it seems like how many senior does not like his son to take over for him, but that's just for him. [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_05]: Well, but his son, who was a hardliner, [SPEAKER_05]: has taken over for him.
[SPEAKER_05]: So now we have the same guy, only he's younger and he's healthier and he's more pissed off because we killed off a bunch of his family members. [SPEAKER_05]: I can't remember whether it was Bob or which one of our friends says that Donald always makes things worse. [SPEAKER_05]: That's Bob always, Bob. [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_05]: What's true? [SPEAKER_05]: It is. [SPEAKER_05]: Because that I mean, he does.
[SPEAKER_05]: He makes things worse for himself. [SPEAKER_05]: He does everybody else. [SPEAKER_05]: But this is something that everybody saw and everybody who either voted for Donald or who didn't vote. [SPEAKER_05]: I couldn't vote for Kamala. [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, well, y'all, we saw this comment. [SPEAKER_05]: We warned you. [SPEAKER_05]: You were warned.
[SPEAKER_05]: So when your groceries are expensive and your gas is expensive, [SPEAKER_05]: And, you know, things are problematic that the folks you know who happen to be in the service servant overseas, maybe they get injured or worse, uh, I don't want to hear no crying from from those folks who voted for Trump, especially. [SPEAKER_12]: Oh, hell no, because high kids. [SPEAKER_05]: Well, there's lots to talk about. [SPEAKER_05]: It is a Monday night.
[SPEAKER_05]: We are starting a Brooklyn Deadify will be in a little bit later. [SPEAKER_05]: Oh, we obviously were going to do a more thorough Oscars recap. [SPEAKER_05]: Brother David was about 95% right, which [SPEAKER_12]: That's pretty good odds apparently Bella won her Oscar pool nice see she probably See when I was hearing some of them might I'm gonna win dp right now. [SPEAKER_12]: It's a really looks good. [SPEAKER_04]: We'll talk about it.
[SPEAKER_08]: Come on We'll be right back after we pay some bills at the politics bar [SPEAKER_05]: it is Monday night here at the politics bar. [SPEAKER_05]: Hopefully you had a good weekend. [SPEAKER_05]: Obviously, you know, we're going to be talking about some of the entertainment stuff over the weekend. [SPEAKER_05]: Oh, some other really good news.
[SPEAKER_05]: I'll leave that for when we talk entertainment, which we'll do when we do the drink of the day, which is something else that you guys can get here at the politics bar course.
[SPEAKER_05]: You can also get the podcast, you know, subscribe six dollars a month [SPEAKER_05]: What's March Math this it's five weeks normally it's four weeks in a month so you do a $1.50 Sense that adds up to six dollars a month, but right now since there's five weeks it's less than that Don't check it out. [SPEAKER_05]: It's there at the politics bar.com.
[SPEAKER_05]: Of course, you can also contact us on the bar line 21367777258 That's 21367777258 or 213677 Salt like any mug area or [SPEAKER_05]: You know what, heck, reach out to us on social media, Blue Sky, Threads, Instagram, Facebook, Substack, Twitter, and YouTube. [SPEAKER_05]: We are on all those places at the politics bar. [SPEAKER_05]: So, there you go. [SPEAKER_05]: Oh, by the way, you know, we have a couple comments here already.
[SPEAKER_05]: Scannell, he says, over the weekend, he said, hey, wait a minute, wait a minute. [SPEAKER_05]: I figured it out. [SPEAKER_05]: Republicans went from F your feelings to F up feelings about the Warren Iran. [SPEAKER_05]: Scannell, you're a correct person. [UNKNOWN]: Yes. [SPEAKER_05]: Do not do not throw your peanuts tonight. [SPEAKER_05]: Are you going to clean it up? [SPEAKER_12]: Wasn't somebody on news nation or something mad at Donald for saying that magas pro war?
[SPEAKER_12]: Newsmax or news nation. [SPEAKER_05]: It was one of those people. [SPEAKER_05]: I would not be surprised. [SPEAKER_12]: It was like an anchor, too. [SPEAKER_12]: It wasn't just a guess. [SPEAKER_12]: It was like somebody that works for that company. [SPEAKER_12]: It was like, we are not pro war. [SPEAKER_12]: Are you told that?
[SPEAKER_12]: I mean, [SPEAKER_05]: No, but that's, look, I saw, I saw I didn't put it in the, in the news on tap today and send it to you because I was like, it's, it was strength and numbers that we use Jelia Morris over there and he did a weekend round up on Saturday from last week. [SPEAKER_05]: And he basically said, what I had mentioned, what, I think really basically you me and Karen were all kind of on one side and Anita was a little bit on the other.
[SPEAKER_05]: And I don't think she was 100% hopefully she read the thing from strength and numbers, but it was, it was pretty simple because he's saying, [SPEAKER_05]: It's about 10%, it's not a lot, but it's about 10% of the core maga and bigger percentage of the independence who might have leaned towards Trump before.
[SPEAKER_05]: And now, because among other things, the war and the disillusionment and the fact that everybody saw it coming, including them, and that Donald, but let's go over to your cliff. [SPEAKER_05]: that they're on going, this is to you, you said no more wars than now there's wars. [SPEAKER_05]: You said all the Epstein files, and it's not only Epstein files, and they point at you, and G.E.L. [SPEAKER_05]: at Wars was noticing in the cross tabs and the things of last week's polls.
[SPEAKER_05]: That amount, if you take that amount in the numbers and the polls, and you apply that to the 2024, Donald Trump only got in 47%. [SPEAKER_05]: of the vote. [SPEAKER_12]: If only they had listened to us. [SPEAKER_05]: This is not complicated people. [SPEAKER_05]: Elections are one and lost on the margins right now in this country. [SPEAKER_05]: Unfortunately.
[SPEAKER_05]: I agree it would be a lot better if if if we did not have the prop the right wing propaganda media that is out there I could almost guarantee you that the numbers would be significantly different because we were all operating from the exact same set of facts those folks would actually have to operate from the same set of facts we are and they go oh well I guess I saw that stuff earlier that's probably a dumb idea they're not
[SPEAKER_05]: But the more of them that we can get to operate from actual facts, the better it will be for all of us. [SPEAKER_05]: And yes, does it mean that it's only a small share of those people that will peel off and go, oh, well, okay, I guess that actually makes sense. [SPEAKER_12]: We just need a small share. [SPEAKER_12]: It's exactly it. [SPEAKER_05]: All we need is enough of them to either vote for Democratic candidates or not to vote at all.
[SPEAKER_05]: If your choices are, shoot yourself in the head or don't shoot yourself in the head. [SPEAKER_05]: As opposed to don't shoot anybody in the head. [SPEAKER_05]: We would say don't shoot anybody in the head. [SPEAKER_05]: But they have narrowed down their options to put the gun down or shoot themselves in the head. [SPEAKER_05]: I would rather they put the gun down. [SPEAKER_05]: That's that's just my and yet you still have people. [SPEAKER_05]: Well, they're mega.
[SPEAKER_05]: So they must take the gun and more they bring that. [SPEAKER_05]: No, no, no, no, they have the option of putting it down and walking away isn't double losing the boys in a certain age group. [SPEAKER_05]: There are all kinds of polls that are saying he's lost young people, young men, Hispanic voters, South Asian voters, some of the Indian South Asian voters went to him in part because of misogyny because they couldn't deal with the South Asian woman running for president.
[SPEAKER_12]: So a vice president who's also married to I believe she's South Asia, doesn't she, Ushah? [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, there's that, but you get the point because she's she's the subordinate in anyway. [SPEAKER_05]: Right. [SPEAKER_05]: That's how they see it. [SPEAKER_05]: I see it. [SPEAKER_05]: No, Joe, he sees it, but that's how they see it. [SPEAKER_05]: Anyway, that's
[SPEAKER_05]: The whole thing is we've seen a lot of this stuff and we on our side look this this is one of the reasons why we do the news on tap so you guys can go through and look at the actual facts and if you look in the second round from many other wars so this week one of the things you need to do the senate is racing for a showdown Nobody's quite sure what senate republicans are going to do But it's pretty clear they got some kind of chicane or some kind of garbage
[SPEAKER_05]: Some, they're going to try some funny business of some kind. [SPEAKER_05]: They didn't very funny. [SPEAKER_05]: To try to ram through this stupid ass. [SPEAKER_05]: Save America, Bill. [SPEAKER_05]: Which actually would just make things worse for everyone. [SPEAKER_12]: Well, and their voters as well. [SPEAKER_12]: The thing is, it's like kind of want to blow up the filibuster so that people know that they are awful.
[SPEAKER_05]: Except I'd [SPEAKER_05]: for this particular and theory and theory they could they could vote the filibuster for one thing yes and theory they could car make a car route for this one thing i i want to see this fail because i don't want to cause the mess which by the way is why we want you to call congress call your member your senator today i don't care if they are d doesn't matter
[SPEAKER_05]: right exactly call your senator uh... what's the number journey two two two four three one two one exactly two two two two four three one two one and yes we know it's evening and yes we know many of the staffers are not there two silly messages [SPEAKER_05]: You can leave messages, you could do whatever you need to do that way. [SPEAKER_05]: But calling is best, yes, you could email or post off of their sites and a lot of them have, you know, leave a message and that's fine.
[SPEAKER_05]: The first best thing would be if you happen to be in the DC area and you make a appointment and show up. [SPEAKER_05]: The second best thing would be to make a phone call because you can do that from anywhere in the country, anywhere in the world, you technically even the space station. [SPEAKER_05]: So anywhere around the earth.
[SPEAKER_05]: and the third best thing of course would be do a letter but there's not enough time for you to write it get in the mail and get it sent to get it there. [SPEAKER_05]: So my suggestion is if you are not in the area of this end of the bar, make a phone call, 202-224-3121 and call your senator and say call both of them and say vote no on this save America.
[SPEAKER_05]: If you've got a Republican senator, [SPEAKER_05]: that you, you're like, say, look, this is actually going to hurt Republicans more. [SPEAKER_05]: My way more, right, um, she's starting, she started a new job today. [SPEAKER_05]: Right. [SPEAKER_05]: I did think about it. [SPEAKER_05]: I'm like, what kind of congratulations. [SPEAKER_05]: She's not home yet, but whatever. [SPEAKER_05]: Um, yeah, it's great.
[SPEAKER_05]: But she had to dig out all of her paperwork, all of her documents. [SPEAKER_05]: She had this this folder because you started a new job. [SPEAKER_05]: That's what you got to do. [SPEAKER_12]: You got to do your passport and you got to fill it the W nine. [SPEAKER_12]: You got to do all that stuff. [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, me, me and W two and me. [SPEAKER_05]: All of that stuff. [SPEAKER_05]: All of that stuff. [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_05]: But ridiculous stuff. [SPEAKER_05]: Right.
[SPEAKER_05]: But that's the kind of thing you would have to do. [SPEAKER_05]: It's not enough to have your real ID. [SPEAKER_05]: Nope. [SPEAKER_05]: You will not be. [SPEAKER_12]: It should be, but it's not. [SPEAKER_05]: Right, if this stupid ass-save act passes, it's bad. [SPEAKER_05]: It is really, really bad. [SPEAKER_05]: And of course, we've got some good stuff there in the news on tap.
[SPEAKER_05]: A great piece from Cheryl and Iful talking about the fact that all eyes must be on the set of to stop the save act. [SPEAKER_05]: But do not, whatever else goes on this week, do not take your eyes off of that and do not stop the pressure. [SPEAKER_05]: Call your members of Congress. [SPEAKER_05]: Call your senators and say, no. [SPEAKER_12]: What did you see Dick Durbin talked to Coran about the differences? [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, we had that last week.
[SPEAKER_12]: And what I loved about it was because Coran's like, what's the problem? [SPEAKER_12]: You have to have ID for all sorts of things. [SPEAKER_12]: Yes, you do. [SPEAKER_12]: But the ID that you use for everything normally doesn't work. [SPEAKER_05]: Well, and then if you go to like some of the tribal issues, um, wow, God, we should see if we can get to it. [SPEAKER_12]: Well, I mean, a real ID gets you on a plane, but it won't allow you to register to vote.
[SPEAKER_05]: A tribal ID allows you to do almost everything on a reservation. [SPEAKER_05]: Tribal ID would not allow you to vote under the same act. [SPEAKER_05]: Nope. [SPEAKER_12]: You're, but it's, it's your, but it's the idea you use for all the time for getting alcohol cigarettes Whatever, I mean getting on the plane Some of the pharmacies medicine exactly these are the IDs that they're saying, oh, that's easy You're real ID driver's license?
[SPEAKER_05]: No, no, you're tribal ID no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, [SPEAKER_12]: But this is different, you need proof of citizenship, which is absolutely, and that's unless we offer you can get your birth certificate.
[SPEAKER_12]: If you don't have your birth certificate now, you can get it for free. [SPEAKER_05]: Well, then even so. [SPEAKER_05]: I mean, the passport has a fact that well, well, yeah, because of the fact that to get a passport, it can cost hundreds of dollars depending on the state you have. [SPEAKER_05]: And time. [SPEAKER_05]: It costs so much time. [SPEAKER_05]: Pain in the ass.
[SPEAKER_12]: I mean, I, you know, when I know mines coming because I have one, when my, I know mines coming up for renewal. [SPEAKER_12]: I'm like, okay, have a year. [SPEAKER_12]: So let me get a new picture. [SPEAKER_12]: Okay. [SPEAKER_12]: And then I'll turn my old one in. [SPEAKER_05]: That's that's easy for Jody. [SPEAKER_05]: She just, you know, she asks Lonnie, hey, will you take a new picture? [SPEAKER_05]: And he says the politics box takes a picture.
[SPEAKER_12]: No, you got to get a proper one. [SPEAKER_05]: Well, I know, I'm just saying you always think. [SPEAKER_12]: I can't have it like this. [SPEAKER_12]: Um, I could be a white background. [SPEAKER_12]: I mean, I just had one recently. [SPEAKER_12]: I just renewed mine about a year ago. [SPEAKER_12]: Okay. [SPEAKER_12]: And I went to a place not far from here, walking distance. [SPEAKER_12]: And for me, that's a mile.
[SPEAKER_12]: And so I walked up there and I said, hi, I need a new passport picture and they're like, fine. [SPEAKER_12]: And I took a few and I'm like, okay, whatever. [SPEAKER_12]: And she's like, okay, do you want me to digitally do it? [SPEAKER_12]: Or give you a copy and like, yes, both. [SPEAKER_12]: Yes, please. [SPEAKER_05]: And so... And digital. [SPEAKER_12]: Thank you.
[SPEAKER_12]: And so she didn't terrible pictures, because... And, um, but it still took once I turn in my, because you have to turn in your old passport and they do it like a something out of it. [SPEAKER_12]: They do it things. [SPEAKER_05]: They do a punch in it. [SPEAKER_05]: They do a punch in it. [SPEAKER_12]: Punch, thank you. [SPEAKER_12]: So they, you send the old passportness and the new one with the old one. [SPEAKER_12]: So you always have your old one, right?
[SPEAKER_12]: Just so you have it, which I like. [SPEAKER_12]: And by the way, all of my passports have very little stamps. [SPEAKER_12]: I just have them. [SPEAKER_05]: Look, it's good to have a passport. [SPEAKER_05]: But millions of millions of Americans who can vote, right? [SPEAKER_05]: By forcing people to get a passport, it's a poll tax. [SPEAKER_12]: It's $100 on the sheet. [SPEAKER_05]: And she taxes are, [SPEAKER_05]: out loud. [SPEAKER_05]: Yes, you pulled access.
[SPEAKER_12]: Yes, it's like $120. [SPEAKER_12]: I think now just for the passport book, which is what I get. [SPEAKER_12]: And then you can get a passport card that fits in your wallet. [SPEAKER_12]: That costs another 50 bucks. [SPEAKER_05]: Well, depends on what the state is and what they charge. [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, I just. [SPEAKER_12]: No, it's federal. [SPEAKER_12]: I mean, it's a federal thing. [SPEAKER_12]: It's a state thing. [SPEAKER_12]: It's a federal thing.
[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, you're right. [SPEAKER_12]: But it's about 170 bucks now to get the book and the card. [SPEAKER_12]: And I highly recommend those that look non-white, to get a passport card. [SPEAKER_05]: I just recommend, I mean, it'd be a good idea to for everybody to get one. [SPEAKER_05]: But if you can't, it's totally understood. [SPEAKER_12]: But it's expensive.
[SPEAKER_05]: This goes along with a theme for today of looking ahead and seeing the things [SPEAKER_05]: And that kind of goes along too with what we've got in the news on tap under the immigration war section. [SPEAKER_05]: How many people here in the bar raise your hands if you want to knew that Donald Trump at some point would stop trying as hard to violently get rid of the immigrant workers.
[SPEAKER_05]: But make sure that the big ag corporations could use the immigrant workers and pay the [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, I think. [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, I'm saying a few of your credits. [SPEAKER_05]: That does not surprise me and yet there's a story right there from the New York Times. [SPEAKER_05]: We have a gift link so you don't have to subscribe. [SPEAKER_05]: Um, that's literally what they've done. [SPEAKER_05]: They've, they've, they've quieted down some of it.
[SPEAKER_05]: Yes, they're still enforcement. [SPEAKER_05]: They have, have quieted down some of the ways they've been doing the enforcement. [SPEAKER_05]: So as not to garner the attention of the media as much. [SPEAKER_12]: Well, they're in Vermont. [SPEAKER_05]: They're in there in lots of places, but they have especially like in Minnesota, they spread out more to the suburban areas and even some of the rural areas surrounding.
[SPEAKER_05]: So they're more diffuse and they're being quieter about it. [SPEAKER_05]: But they are also being told, do not target the big meat packing plants anymore. [SPEAKER_05]: And there's didn't even get this, there's a story. [SPEAKER_05]: There's a bunch of meat packers on strike now.
[SPEAKER_05]: uh... they're saying don't don't do things they're going to draw the media's attention is what the is what person i know says that they they have been told do not draw the attention of the media because of another things people know that all the immigration problems track to the republicans and trump but then of course that also allows them to do things like the story that we have the news on tap or dot on says you know what
[SPEAKER_05]: My friends in big ag, I know you've donated a bunch of money to me, a button of money, congratulations. [SPEAKER_05]: I'm going to do what we can to make sure that you can keep having those illegal immigrants working for you just cheaper. [SPEAKER_05]: And of course, then if they lay off, well, you know, you can scare them and tell them, you know, would you want to go do them? [SPEAKER_05]: Do you want to call ICE? [SPEAKER_12]: They do that anyway. [SPEAKER_05]: Right.
[SPEAKER_05]: It's sick. [SPEAKER_05]: But again, these things have been foreseen. [SPEAKER_05]: It's not like anybody didn't say, oh, oh, whatever, do such a thing. [SPEAKER_05]: We're looking at you with Ray's eyebrows, like really, really? [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, you know what, I know it, everybody knew it. [SPEAKER_05]: You guys can read the stories for yourself there, they're in the news on tap. [SPEAKER_05]: You know what, what the hell?
[SPEAKER_05]: It's Monday night, we've been having fun, we've been talking for a little bit, and you know what, I just, if I have the option right now, I would pick up and take us to Vegas for fun. [SPEAKER_05]: I would, totally, absolutely be great. [SPEAKER_12]: I'm going in about a month. [SPEAKER_05]: I would say take me with you, but then there'd be nobody to bar. [SPEAKER_05]: So there's that. [SPEAKER_12]: It isn't weekend, so we'll be okay.
[SPEAKER_05]: Okay, all right, well look, look, we are going to take you guys to Vegas when we come back. [SPEAKER_05]: After all that is where the drink of the day is focused on, look, if you know, you know, and if you don't, hang on, and we'll tell you when we come back. [SPEAKER_08]: Right here Monday night at the politics bar.
[SPEAKER_05]: it is a Monday night here at politics bar we have fun talking about all kind of good stuff chatting we look the reason one of the reasons that we can do this show so well is that we are both very chatty chatty yeah
[SPEAKER_05]: we like to talk to each other and we like to have fun and we like to take you along with us wherever you go by the way you can take us with you we know you're listening on all of our great radio affiliates wherever you happen to be but you can also take us with you in case you know you busy you got something to do whatever look you can take us with you through your podcast player or through the politics bar dot com you go there you get the podcast it is ad free and it will remain ad free we're going
[SPEAKER_05]: to begin more ads here on the other parts of the podcast. [SPEAKER_05]: So you definitely want to do the ad free thing if you don't like ads. [SPEAKER_05]: Plus you happen to get the drink of the day with the recipe and you get the news on tap for free. [SPEAKER_05]: Check it out. [SPEAKER_05]: It's a good deal. [SPEAKER_05]: It's there. [SPEAKER_05]: It's politicsbar.com. [SPEAKER_05]: $6 a month. [SPEAKER_05]: Like I said, a buck 50 a week. [SPEAKER_05]: Come on, you can do that.
[SPEAKER_05]: I can do that. [SPEAKER_05]: I can steal that much money. [SPEAKER_05]: But I could. [SPEAKER_05]: No. [SPEAKER_05]: Well, I'm just saying, you know, we'll find it on the streets in the couch cushions. [SPEAKER_05]: That's not really stealing. [SPEAKER_05]: It's just finding, I suppose. [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_05]: Okay. [SPEAKER_05]: I mean, I wouldn't want to steal the money. [SPEAKER_05]: I happen to have integrity. [SPEAKER_05]: I don't generally steal.
[SPEAKER_05]: That's not the thing. [SPEAKER_05]: I don't steal. [SPEAKER_05]: I try to lie. [SPEAKER_05]: Also because I feel like in my mom would hit me in the back of the head. [SPEAKER_05]: Hmm. [SPEAKER_05]: You know, important things like that. [SPEAKER_12]: No, I literally took a picture of myself. [SPEAKER_12]: It's a send in my mom because she likes pictures. [SPEAKER_12]: It was years ago. [SPEAKER_12]: And she goes, oh, it's a great picture. [SPEAKER_12]: Who took it?
[SPEAKER_12]: And I could have said I hired a photographer. [SPEAKER_03]: Oh, it was that good. [SPEAKER_12]: It was a good picture, and I took it myself. [SPEAKER_12]: And it was way before you had, it was an actual camera and I put the timer on and. [SPEAKER_05]: Nine, the way that you do selfies. [SPEAKER_12]: Yeah, long ago. [SPEAKER_12]: And she's like, well, it's a good picture. [SPEAKER_12]: I'm like, I was gonna say it was hired, but I don't have that money.
[SPEAKER_05]: Let's just see it. [SPEAKER_05]: I have friends who like to go to Vegas on the regular. [SPEAKER_05]: And one of the things that you have to do, if you're a gambler, especially for playing cards, is you have to be good at bluffing and lying. [SPEAKER_05]: Oh, God. [SPEAKER_05]: I can do when I need to, but oftentimes I don't really like to. [SPEAKER_12]: That's why a lot of poker players wear sunglasses.
[SPEAKER_05]: Right, tells, and they don't give their tells away there, because your eyes or whatever your tweaks, your twitches, your nose, your eyebrows, your smile, whatever. [SPEAKER_05]: I can say, if I have to, I could absolutely lie, really easily. [SPEAKER_05]: I have said before, I have a degree in broadcast journalism with minors in political science, theater, history, God, what the hell's the other one?
[SPEAKER_05]: I mean, I'm basically credentialed to look somebody in the face and lie. [SPEAKER_05]: And yet, I have this horrible thing where I don't like to do it, but if you're going to go gambling in Vegas, you really need to know how to lie. [SPEAKER_05]: Unless you're going to stay away from the gambling and then you're just going to go for the entertainment and the fun and the food Yeah, you can still get plenty of good buffets there.
[SPEAKER_05]: I know some of them have disappeared, but some of them were still there and you good food cheap Which okay, we're taking it a vagus right now because that is where the drink of the day is centered today. [SPEAKER_05]: It is Jody, what is the drink of the day today? [SPEAKER_12]: it's called a shifting sans cocktail. [SPEAKER_12]: Because today is the anniversary of Las Vegas becoming incorporated in 19 or 11. [SPEAKER_05]: It's officially becoming a city.
[SPEAKER_05]: I think they were an unincorporated township prior to that for some reason. [SPEAKER_12]: And like that. [SPEAKER_12]: But I mean over 100 years, they've been there. [SPEAKER_05]: Although technically where the strip is is not technically in Las Vegas, we have that in the in the history here, that is an uncorporated area outside the city of Las Vegas in unincorporated Clark County and the whole reason for it, of course, the gambling the mobsters in the ladies of the evening.
[SPEAKER_05]: Oh, there's that too. [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, that's they they have some different laws there regarding brothels. [SPEAKER_12]: We're going to find with that. [SPEAKER_12]: You know what regulated tax it. [SPEAKER_05]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_12]: Ladies are safe for that way. [SPEAKER_12]: The the Johns are safe for that way. [SPEAKER_12]: Everybody safer. [SPEAKER_05]: All the sex workers are safer that way. [SPEAKER_05]: And that's good.
[SPEAKER_05]: And if that's how you choose to do work. [SPEAKER_05]: Look, some people choose. [SPEAKER_05]: to spend their life digging through muck and sewage, and we call them lawyers, sorry, saying be honest about it. [SPEAKER_05]: Okay, plumbers do the same thing. [SPEAKER_05]: There's a little more honest, plumbers is at least they know they're dealing with crap anyway. [SPEAKER_05]: But lawyers do that. [SPEAKER_05]: I don't choose to judge any of somebody's sides.
[SPEAKER_05]: That's what they want to do. [SPEAKER_05]: Not to be forced into it, but that's what they decide. [SPEAKER_12]: Yes, if a person wants to use their sexuality and their performance at the sex for a job, whatever. [SPEAKER_12]: That's a choice. [SPEAKER_05]: I got no as long as it is a choice make sure that exactly their choice and to make sure that they're safe and regulate it is all good.
[SPEAKER_05]: So let's look at the the you can see we put a couple of pictures right near the top of the drink of the day and you can see Vegas now and then you just do a quick little scroll down and you can see Vegas in 1905 and who was a lot of difference between it. [SPEAKER_05]: a whole history of Las Vegas. [SPEAKER_05]: If you don't know, it is great. [SPEAKER_05]: Judi, you dropped in a nice little piece in there of the Oceans 11 trailer.
[SPEAKER_05]: The original one from 1960, not the one from 2001, which I like the one from 2001. [SPEAKER_05]: I guess they're trying to do more of those possibly now. [SPEAKER_12]: I met two of the people in that original film, who? [SPEAKER_05]: Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jr. Oh yeah, you thought about Sammy Davis Jr. in your mom? [SPEAKER_05]: And yeah, I think he told us about Dean Martin, too, in his hamburger.
[SPEAKER_12]: Well, and his youngest daughter, and I know each other since we were five. [SPEAKER_05]: Oh, wow. [SPEAKER_05]: That's really cool. [SPEAKER_12]: She's one of my best friends.
[SPEAKER_05]: look we've got all the details you can read the history yourself and i think it's a good history and you should it's interesting but of course one of the things that i like is the drink itself today which is a shifting sand's cocktail so joddy how do we make such a drink one would need a shaker all right some ice a strainer i didn't write this in but a pre chill high ball glass [SPEAKER_05]: Just assume all glasses should be appreciated.
[SPEAKER_12]: Let's just assume it at this point. [SPEAKER_12]: We're almost a year into the show. [SPEAKER_12]: One and a half ounces of gin. [SPEAKER_12]: So it's a drink people. [SPEAKER_12]: Right, it's serious. [SPEAKER_12]: We're not kidding. [SPEAKER_12]: One and a half ounces of fresh grapefruit juice. [SPEAKER_12]: Okay, I forgot how good this sounds. [SPEAKER_12]: A quarter of our outsets, I did it two weeks ago.
[SPEAKER_12]: A quarter ounce of fresh lemon juice, two teaspoons of Martino licor, it looks harder, or whatever you've got. [SPEAKER_02]: Right. [SPEAKER_12]: And some club soda, and your garnish is a great fruit wedge or twist, depending on your mood.
[SPEAKER_02]: Okay. [SPEAKER_12]: So you put the gin, grapefruit lemon juice, and marshmallow liqueur in the shaker, you add the ice, you shake until cold, strain it into your ice filled high above glass, top it with the club soda, and you garnish with the wedge or the twist. [SPEAKER_05]: That sounds so good because it looks really good too. [SPEAKER_05]: You should definitely take a look at the picture there. [SPEAKER_05]: Are you getting blow it up when you click on it?
[SPEAKER_12]: So if you're ice cream, no, it's, it's, it's very refreshing, especially in the summer. [SPEAKER_05]: Especially with tickets are going to get hot in Vegas. [SPEAKER_05]: So Viva Las Vegas and also y'all stay cool out there in Vegas because it's gonna be a play Summer. [SPEAKER_05]: Oh my god. [SPEAKER_05]: Oh my god. [SPEAKER_12]: Oh my god.
[SPEAKER_12]: Ugly. [SPEAKER_05]: Ugly. [SPEAKER_05]: If you missed any part of the drink of the day, you guys know what to do subscribe at the politics bar dot com. [SPEAKER_05]: Okay. [SPEAKER_05]: to our entertainment section, which as you know, I always love going to start with a couple of things over the weekend. [SPEAKER_05]: Team USA beat the Dominican Republic to one to reach the World Baseball Classic Championship game. [SPEAKER_05]: So congrats to them. [SPEAKER_05]: Sorry.
[SPEAKER_05]: had to do that on the way. [SPEAKER_05]: Selection Sunday, 2026. [SPEAKER_05]: We now know who the men and women's NCAA basketball teams are. [SPEAKER_05]: Oh, by the way, I didn't put this one in because the Olympics obviously done, but the men's sled hockey team also beat Canada. [SPEAKER_12]: Nice. [SPEAKER_12]: We still love the Canada, by the way, just love you. [SPEAKER_05]: But all of the hockey this year in the Olympics and the pair of Olympics was won by the US.
[SPEAKER_05]: The gold we won gold across the board. [SPEAKER_05]: First time that's ever been done to wow. [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, pretty cool there. [SPEAKER_05]: Um, so the Oscars recap if you missed who won what? [SPEAKER_05]: We do have the full list of winners there. [SPEAKER_05]: One battle after another, having to take best picture and director and four other awards. [SPEAKER_05]: Seniors got four awards themselves.
[SPEAKER_05]: Michael B. Jordan, Paul Thomas Anderson, Jesse Buckley, all one. [SPEAKER_12]: Kathleen Madigan. [SPEAKER_05]: Yes, Kevin, look, brother David got about 95% right. [SPEAKER_05]: He was not kidding when he said that when we had him in here on Friday, it's no joke. [SPEAKER_05]: He actually got about 95% of the winner's correct, which I was, you know, kind of, I was like, wow, that's that's not bad. [SPEAKER_05]: There was a tie in the live action short.
[SPEAKER_12]: which I was not expecting at all nobody was and you know what I think was the problem and Kumar I believe was the guy that said it oh my god this don't freak out it's a tie I can't remember the actor's name but he's very good. [SPEAKER_12]: He's doing like dark pv commercials now yeah he's good but my problem was I know that the producers don't know who's won yet because they can't [SPEAKER_05]: legally among other things.
[SPEAKER_12]: Yeah, there's so many reasons gambling laws those kind of things also go by Yeah, they can't know and I understand it and I get it, but when it's a tie they the first winners get a lot more time [SPEAKER_12]: than the second winner. [SPEAKER_05]: I think that's and and that's something and that's a producers issue and they should make sure of that.
[SPEAKER_12]: Just go look if it's a tie kids, you know, they could they could have given him a handstand in time because there he goes. [SPEAKER_05]: On pen was not there. [SPEAKER_05]: He did happen to when he is now one of the few actors who was one for three or four. [SPEAKER_12]: He's wanted four actors or maybe five at this point for five. [SPEAKER_05]: Well, I mean for acting though, I think he's one three. [SPEAKER_12]: Yes, and that's he's one of four actors that is one three.
[SPEAKER_05]: Yes, and then obviously one of the big ones for the night obviously Kpop demon hunters one for animated feature film and for song which was very cool as well. [SPEAKER_12]: Oh, the opening with them and sinners was great. [SPEAKER_05]: Look, it's it's it's very cool that some different parts of our broad American culture are being more accepted. [SPEAKER_05]: And for those people who like K-pop, I think that's that's a really great idea. [SPEAKER_12]: I didn't see it now.
[SPEAKER_12]: I want to see it. [SPEAKER_12]: Oh, you haven't seen it yet? [SPEAKER_05]: No. [SPEAKER_05]: It's fun. [SPEAKER_05]: It's fun. [SPEAKER_05]: They are working on a sequel. [SPEAKER_05]: But EJ was really, she was just, that's the lead singer. [SPEAKER_05]: And she was just really touched. [SPEAKER_05]: Because among other things, she was told at one time, not too long ago, that you will, you need to stop because you're never going to make anything of yourself.
[SPEAKER_05]: So, and now she's won all the big words. [SPEAKER_05]: So, whoever told her that, I hope. [SPEAKER_05]: I hope you feel really, really dumb. [SPEAKER_12]: Yeah, I mean, seriously watching, which I said was, half asleep. [SPEAKER_12]: I'm watching listening mainly to the show last night. [SPEAKER_12]: My favorite was the casting director. [SPEAKER_12]: Award, which is, I have issues with everybody talking about it, but that's a whole thing. [SPEAKER_12]: Um, that's off air.
[SPEAKER_05]: Uh, but the women thought the casting director for sinners was going to win and she did. [SPEAKER_12]: She didn't, but that's okay, but the casting director for Paul's movie, one battle after another did win and it was so cute because she's like, I've known you Paul since we were like 17 and I won my first Oscar before you. [SPEAKER_12]: I think you'll win one tonight, I mean, it was, I mean, I'm paraphrasing what she said, but I started, I just laughed.
[SPEAKER_05]: I'm like, no, that's great. [SPEAKER_05]: Big congrats also by the way to autumn, archipelago, one for the cinematography for sinners, first woman, first black woman, first Asian woman, because I think she's a purple-acquieted part Asian, kind of like Kamala Harris, and just, you know, [SPEAKER_05]: Look, it's, it's nice.
[SPEAKER_05]: It was a good, it seems like most people were general with pretty happy except for the people who weren't going to be happy unless they're people took everything and that's just like you can't have it all. [SPEAKER_12]: I'm not surprised Marty Supreme one nothing. [SPEAKER_05]: specialy after him and he's on him. [SPEAKER_12]: It was not on him. [SPEAKER_12]: He never gonna win the award.
[SPEAKER_05]: We brother David brother David said he said that they went way too hard with their campaign and basically all up in people's face and people like I'm not interested in that.
[SPEAKER_12]: I saw the movie was [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, that's one of the people said so but we have more news from the news on tap We have Brooklyn Dad Define who will come in he has a couple of great pieces in his sub-stack Which we have and have in the news on tap you can click into them But of course we'll just talk with him about it later.

[SPEAKER_05]: Judges hanging here with me. [SPEAKER_05]: Have a good night so far. [SPEAKER_05]: So far so good.
[SPEAKER_05]: Exactly and it's going to get even better because Brooklyn Dad defined is coming in. [SPEAKER_05]: We're going to obviously talk to him a little about the Oscars and of course all about the ridiculousness going on the Iran war. [SPEAKER_05]: The Republicans war on democracy and of course some of the other items that are in the news on tap. [SPEAKER_05]: Thank you by the way everybody who is joining us just now.
[SPEAKER_05]: you know we get it sometimes you busy you don't come in right at the top of the hour that's that's fine uh we are here and we are on the radio on great places like am 950 Minneapolis Saint Paul we're in Atlanta, Georgia now radio we are down there with you. [SPEAKER_05]: Of course we are also at the detour talk in Tennessee or AMH-20 Chicago WCPT we're on progressive voices radio world live wherever you happen to be or you know maybe we are we are in your podcast player.
[SPEAKER_05]: happens. [SPEAKER_05]: No worries. [SPEAKER_05]: Look, you can do the the podcast player with the ads. [SPEAKER_05]: That's fine. [SPEAKER_05]: Your choice. [SPEAKER_05]: Or you can do the ad free version from the politics bar.com. [SPEAKER_05]: $6 a month cheaper if you do the annual subscription and cheaper this month because there are five weeks in the month. [SPEAKER_05]: Well, it's still $6 a month. [SPEAKER_05]: It's just normally about 50 week and whatever.
[SPEAKER_05]: Figure it out. [SPEAKER_05]: Go check it out. [SPEAKER_05]: It's there at the politics bar.com. [SPEAKER_05]: All right, Jody. [SPEAKER_05]: We had tackled some of the news on tap here before BDD got in. [SPEAKER_05]: One of the things that I mentioned to you earlier today, you were busy doing a few things and you hadn't seen this, you understand that when people, oh God, tell their medical things to their employers, to their friends.
[SPEAKER_05]: It's not exactly something that you can outright say. [SPEAKER_05]: I mean, or at least, I mean, you can, but you could literally, you could get in legal trouble for it, right? [SPEAKER_12]: Well, I don't know, but legal because it's then once you've told it somebody besides your doctor, it's probably not a legal issue, but it's still a moral issue, it's a personal issue. [SPEAKER_12]: Right.
[SPEAKER_05]: Right. [SPEAKER_05]: But I mean, unless of course you happen to, you know, be somebody like, say, the Speaker of the House or the President of the United States, and then you let health information out that nobody else really knows yet. [SPEAKER_05]: It's been rumored. [SPEAKER_05]: It had been rumored down in Florida politics. [SPEAKER_12]: His family should know and that's all it matters, but the fact that no, let me play this from the DVR.
[SPEAKER_01]: And it was very ill that look like he wasn't going to make it. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know. [SPEAKER_01]: I won't mention his name. [SPEAKER_01]: Should I do other people know his name?
[SPEAKER_07]: uh... you want to mention it he'll be proud go ahead tell them tell this he says truck thank you miss president uh... sounds drugged up yeah congressman kneeled on of florida had had some real health challenges and it was very serious and uh... had had a pretty grim diagnosis and i mentioned it to the president and i said
[SPEAKER_07]: Congressman Don is a real champion in a patriot because he's still coming to work and if others got this diagnosis They would be able to go home and retire What was a diagnosis? [SPEAKER_07]: It was uh, I mean, I think it was a terminal diagnosis. [SPEAKER_07]: He would be dead by June Okay, that wasn't public, but yeah, okay.
[SPEAKER_04]: That's It was it was grim Yeah, and people went ha ha and oh well, but there was yeah, there was Gas, but there was also some people going Who was laughing at that [SPEAKER_05]: some really either people laughing nervously or people who are really, really sick. [SPEAKER_12]: Well, Donald, hi. [SPEAKER_05]: Okay, but still, the fact of the matter is that's not okay to just outright go, oh, hey, this guy, he hasn't told anybody that his doctor is told of the, I'm sure I would hope.
[SPEAKER_12]: I hope it's family new. [SPEAKER_05]: That rep done told his is, oh, I'm fairly sure they did, but the fact that this was not necessarily [SPEAKER_05]: Remember, by that one, will be another special election, Democrats will have gained another seat and Republicans will then lose a seat, so at least temporarily, so that will put them at 217, meaning that Tiny Johnson's tiny Johnson. [SPEAKER_05]: Just saying this lead.
[SPEAKER_12]: Well, I mean, the thing Johnson did not want to say any of that. [SPEAKER_03]: No, but he's like, well, sir, that nervous laughter, okay, you just, you just, you just really don't all the everybody's. [SPEAKER_12]: Is he wearing the floor shimbs as well? [SPEAKER_05]: Oh, God, I think he is, yeah, I'm pretty sure that for those people who missed it, this is something we've, it's ridiculous, we, I don't think we've even put anything in the news on ten. [SPEAKER_05]: We haven't.
[SPEAKER_05]: So, so recently, Donald has been, um, guessing, [SPEAKER_05]: These shoe sizes of people that are around him, members of Congress, members of his cabinet, and of course, because to Donald shoe size means, well, you know, they say about big hands, big feet, you know, they say about big feet, big shoes, and of course, other things. [SPEAKER_05]: And Donald is asking people around him what size their shoes are.
[SPEAKER_05]: And so of course, they all want to [SPEAKER_05]: Well, he is kind of, but he's he's guessing and he says, oh, you want some shoes? [SPEAKER_05]: They go, oh, well, yes, sir. [SPEAKER_05]: So, okay, so you must be about a 14, right? [SPEAKER_05]: Oh, no, I'm a 15. [SPEAKER_05]: Oh, you're a 15, okay, because, you know, you don't want to say that you're actually a 12. [SPEAKER_12]: Because the little Marko, he always called him little Marko.
[SPEAKER_12]: So, why did he get him shoes that were too big? [SPEAKER_05]: clown shoes. [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_12]: Did you see Colin Jost? [SPEAKER_05]: It's a center. [SPEAKER_05]: I saw a center there live this week. [SPEAKER_05]: It was good. [SPEAKER_05]: It was actually I was I was very impressed with Saturday night live this week. [SPEAKER_12]: Harry Styles is very fine. [SPEAKER_12]: So as Connor story, I just in love with the last two hosts.
[SPEAKER_05]: Look, I don't know what they're doing, but they're doing some really good work at SNL and I recommend now taking a look. [SPEAKER_12]: Now I'm calling jokes with those shoes and then it looked like it was clown stockings. [SPEAKER_05]: Right, but it looks like I should dig up the clown music that Bob gave us. [SPEAKER_05]: But whatever, the point of this is just the fact that this has been something that they've been doing recently. [SPEAKER_05]: And it looked like an idiot.
[SPEAKER_05]: I mean, they all look so stupid. [SPEAKER_05]: in there, you know, Donnie gave me these shoes, so I'm wearing them, even though there are three sizes too big. [SPEAKER_12]: I can't wait for him to give him to ladies. [SPEAKER_12]: Man. [SPEAKER_05]: Speaking of the ladies, man, well, he has a real ladies been to his wife, ladies, he booked the day to find Mr. [SPEAKER_05]: Woo! [SPEAKER_05]: And here, how you doing? [SPEAKER_05]: By the way, what are you up to?
[SPEAKER_05]: How's your weekend? [SPEAKER_10]: Um, my weekend was uh, it was nice. [SPEAKER_10]: Actually, we're um, so I have a college bound daughter. [SPEAKER_10]: Okay. [SPEAKER_12]: Um, that's scary. [SPEAKER_05]: Did you care to, do you care to say where she's going to school? [SPEAKER_10]: I cannot. [SPEAKER_10]: Okay. [SPEAKER_10]: I would like to, but I cannot. [SPEAKER_10]: No, I agree with that. [SPEAKER_05]: Nothing wrong with that. [SPEAKER_05]: I didn't know.
[SPEAKER_05]: I didn't know if she was like, I'm going to this particular school. [SPEAKER_05]: Everybody cheer for me. [SPEAKER_05]: No. [SPEAKER_05]: Where is she's going? [SPEAKER_12]: Yay. [SPEAKER_12]: And you must be terrified because [SPEAKER_10]: No, this is, I'm like, I'm kind of an old hat at this. [SPEAKER_10]: I've already put three boys through college, my three oldest sons. [SPEAKER_10]: And so, is she your youngest? [SPEAKER_10]: Actually, yes.
[SPEAKER_12]: She's the Bubba, is she 18, 19, 17? [SPEAKER_10]: She will be 18 in August. [SPEAKER_10]: Okay, so we spent Saturday looking at housing, because she's going to be on it off campus if she's a little bit cheaper.
[SPEAKER_10]: Always. [SPEAKER_10]: And I guess the good thing about this is that [SPEAKER_10]: Like all the stuff that I'd had to pack into my vehicle and bring my boys up, you know, up to different SUNY universities, I would be doing that this time because, well, she doesn't have as much stuff to hold. [SPEAKER_05]: Nice. [SPEAKER_05]: Is she also going to a school that's maybe a lot further away because that definitely tends to reduce the amount of stuff they want to take.
[SPEAKER_10]: Oh, and no, that's the other thing. [SPEAKER_10]: She's way, way, way closer. [SPEAKER_10]: So, oh, okay. [SPEAKER_12]: Oh, because she can leave her stuff at home.
[SPEAKER_10]: yeah yeah so the boys for for the most part um i say the boys like my my oldest is 33 now slow that's okay my my brothers are in their 40s and I still you know we still call honey I have a granny since almost your oldest son's age so go on not a niece a grand niece my nephew's daughter [SPEAKER_10]: The boys, their schools were like three, four, and five-hour drive. [SPEAKER_10]: Wow. [SPEAKER_10]: Upstate New York.
[SPEAKER_10]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_10]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_10]: This is going to be way easier. [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_05]: This is where you're like, okay, that's cool. [SPEAKER_05]: So, well, congrats to her. [SPEAKER_05]: And yeah, the housing thing is always... [SPEAKER_05]: Look, there was a housing bill.
[SPEAKER_05]: I don't think I don't remember if we had it in Fridays, but I do know that Elizabeth Warren talked about a little bit, shepherded it through, I don't know what's gonna happen in the house. [SPEAKER_05]: It's gonna fail. [SPEAKER_05]: probably because Tiny Johnson won't, what was this? [SPEAKER_12]: It was a housing bill that Elizabeth Warren and Josh Hawley or somebody named Tim Scott, exactly. [SPEAKER_12]: Thank you. [SPEAKER_05]: Tim Scott. [SPEAKER_05]: Tim Scott.
[SPEAKER_12]: Right. [SPEAKER_12]: And so what we got to make sure the right guy gets the credit.
[SPEAKER_12]: I'm Florida and so he and Elizabeth authored a bill that basically said [SPEAKER_05]: That's one of the big things, they're basically they're trying to cut down on the, what's known as rent here isn't starting turning housing from buying into renters and that kind of thing and and and all of the big, they're they're not really housing companies, they're just they're basically holding companies, they're buying up their buying up all properties and like creating a dearth of supply.
[SPEAKER_10]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_05]: One of the big problems and they're like, no, no, no, no, no, no. [SPEAKER_05]: And if you do, you have to do this and that and it means that they have to go well. [SPEAKER_05]: It's a good thing. [SPEAKER_05]: I mean, it's Elizabeth Warren things. [SPEAKER_05]: So you know, it's probably pretty damn good.
[SPEAKER_05]: But whether it'll get through the house, you know, it's because among other things, they have their spring break coming up here, starting at the end of this week. [SPEAKER_05]: And I want their job. [SPEAKER_05]: I can in some ways, I could see that, but in others, I don't. [SPEAKER_05]: 25 weeks off, yes, you're you're begging for money your kiss. [SPEAKER_12]: I hate that part, but everything else I like. [SPEAKER_10]: I like their health insurance. [SPEAKER_10]: That too.
[SPEAKER_10]: Health insurance. [SPEAKER_05]: But also, you know, I want to see like so here in the Virginia corner for bar and some of this stuff is is not in the news on tap today. [SPEAKER_05]: So we're kind of, you know, jumping off a little bit because we got B&D in. [SPEAKER_05]: But, um, [SPEAKER_05]: Virginia has been great. [SPEAKER_05]: I got a letter from my state rep, and over the weekend, and they do that.
[SPEAKER_05]: A lot of Virginia representatives state house, state senate, they do that. [SPEAKER_05]: And they tell you what they've done, what they've been up to. [SPEAKER_05]: And man, the Virginia legislature and Governor Spanberg have been doing great things, things for urban people and rural people and suburban people, things that should have been in a long time ago, things like, oh yeah, it used to be when there was last time there was Democratic Governor.
[SPEAKER_05]: that if you had committed a felony and you would serve your time, then you could get your voting rights back. [SPEAKER_05]: But then when Governor Fleece McLeyer got in this last time, the Republican newsbag who's there. [SPEAKER_05]: Um, he basically made it. [SPEAKER_05]: Well, you had to had to had to, to beg him. [SPEAKER_05]: Oh, please, uh, man, I have my voting rights individually. [SPEAKER_05]: Each person is ridiculous.
[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, Democrats are going to be like, dude, if you've served, if you've done your time. [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, that's it. [SPEAKER_05]: You're not going to continue to get punished after we've punished you because that's stupid. [SPEAKER_05]: Democrats are doing all of these great things. [SPEAKER_05]: And they're the legislature here is moving. [SPEAKER_05]: And I'm like, you know what?
[SPEAKER_05]: When we next get a Democratic trifecta, and we fix the stupid ass Supreme Court, it's exactly what our Democrats do. [SPEAKER_05]: I want to see every day something else Democrats fixed. [SPEAKER_05]: I want to be able to put stickers everywhere where Democrats can say, I fixed that. [SPEAKER_10]: You know what, we, Democrats are the productive ones, right?
[SPEAKER_10]: When we're in office, when we're in control of the house and the Senate, like during Joe Biden's time and office, boy, we can't get the excuse me. [SPEAKER_05]: No, that's okay. [SPEAKER_05]: Those first two years, those first two years, we got a lot of stuff done. [SPEAKER_05]: And I'm 100% with you on that. [SPEAKER_05]: So look, [SPEAKER_05]: Democrats are the productive ones. [SPEAKER_05]: We are focused on being productive Republicans are focused on stopping reproduction.
[SPEAKER_05]: Yes, just saying anyway, or maybe making more but making it more painful, maybe that's a better way to put it. [SPEAKER_12]: Yeah, they're forced birthers. [SPEAKER_05]: That's a good way, Jodi is right. [SPEAKER_05]: There we go. [SPEAKER_05]: All right, Brooklyn Dad Define is here. [SPEAKER_05]: It is Monday's with Majid. [SPEAKER_05]: So you guys know what to do. [SPEAKER_05]: Freshing your drink, come right back.
[SPEAKER_05]: We will obviously, Majid, want to get your take on the Oscars from the weekend and some other entertainment news as well. [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, we got to talk about Brendan Carr, that little pain in the ass. [SPEAKER_05]: I'll call him out. [SPEAKER_05]: I'll care if I call him out in the air. [SPEAKER_11]: I will call him out in the air. [SPEAKER_11]: I will call him out in the air. [SPEAKER_05]: But that would work, too.
[SPEAKER_05]: We'll be right back after we pay some bills at the politics bar. [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, you're still not making me break, brother. [SPEAKER_05]: Please. [SPEAKER_10]: I got you. [SPEAKER_10]: You got you. [SPEAKER_05]: You got you. [SPEAKER_05]: Which is good. [SPEAKER_05]: Making your friends laugh is a good thing. [SPEAKER_05]: Obviously cheering your friends on is a good thing.
[SPEAKER_05]: Don't know if you knew anybody at the Oscars or if you were were pumped up specifically about any specific movie at the Oscars. [SPEAKER_05]: Machine was it? [SPEAKER_10]: Absolutely. [SPEAKER_10]: sinners was was a favorite of mine last year. [SPEAKER_10]: I also did enjoy weapons weapons. [SPEAKER_10]: I love weapons. [SPEAKER_10]: Let me tell you because I am like I am Mr. always disappointed by horror movies, right?
[SPEAKER_10]: It's a point, Jack. [SPEAKER_10]: It's a good one. [SPEAKER_04]: I had it right there. [SPEAKER_04]: It was just there, you know. [SPEAKER_10]: like I grew up watching the exorcist and the omen and you know the thing like movies were like horror was like truly scary and so like the stuff with the exception of [SPEAKER_10]: the conjuring. [SPEAKER_10]: Most of the things I've seen in the past two decades have been men, but weapons, fent. [SPEAKER_05]: Was it a great?
[SPEAKER_05]: Oh, my goodness. [SPEAKER_10]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_10]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_05]: The fact to me, the fact to me that she had won in, I mean, how long has she been in? [SPEAKER_05]: 30. [SPEAKER_12]: Amy Madagant. [SPEAKER_12]: She's been around forever. [SPEAKER_12]: 35 years. [SPEAKER_12]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_05]: I'm sorry. [SPEAKER_05]: I still love Amy Madagant in, um, uh, filled with dreams.
[SPEAKER_05]: That's still one of my [SPEAKER_12]: I want to say she worked with my sister on a play called The Laundromat, so I need to double-check my mom. [SPEAKER_12]: Okay. [SPEAKER_12]: Because it was a theater in on Lassian. [SPEAKER_12]: I got a little small little theater in my sister was in it. [SPEAKER_12]: And I believe she was in that with her. [SPEAKER_05]: That's cool. [SPEAKER_05]: I'm glad she won. [SPEAKER_05]: I'm glad Michael B. Jordan won. [SPEAKER_05]: I love him so.
[SPEAKER_05]: And we're, of course, we're glad that your friend, Jody, that he won. [SPEAKER_11]: My friend, Paul, when picture and director and adapted. [SPEAKER_10]: In Paul Thomas Anderson, you know what, that movie, one battle after another. [SPEAKER_10]: Fan. [SPEAKER_10]: Fantastic. [SPEAKER_12]: A lot of black women don't like it. [SPEAKER_10]: Oh, really? [SPEAKER_05]: Understandable, Tiana Taylor.
[SPEAKER_05]: I mean, she didn't have a fantastic job, and I think she's still... [SPEAKER_05]: I don't know. [SPEAKER_12]: They think it's women black women are stereotypical in it. [SPEAKER_12]: Now, I see that. [SPEAKER_12]: I can see that. [SPEAKER_12]: Yeah, but also it was not his screenplay. [SPEAKER_12]: He was adapting. [SPEAKER_10]: So right, but I'm I'm going to say something that maybe your listeners might find take issue with I don't care, but.
[SPEAKER_10]: If they have a problem with that, then stop going to see Tyler Perry movies because he lives in that space. [SPEAKER_10]: And that is one of the reasons why I have never liked Tyler Perry. [SPEAKER_10]: I always felt like, you know, he's a smart intelligent brother, he, but he consistently goes after the lowest common denominator and he doesn't have. [SPEAKER_05]: Kind of the modern day black exploitation is what you're thinking?
[SPEAKER_12]: that's what they were saying about Paul's movie was it was a little black exploitation with the lady characters in the film and just it was just it was just tiana that the daughter was right i think she was the only one and and i think it's all adapted to screenplay he did and um but then uh because sinners want it for original [SPEAKER_05]: right exactly and that's what I'm talking about is it was like, hey, I mean, one was adapted, one was original.
[SPEAKER_05]: So when you're adapting somebody else's screenplay, they're certain you can go too far away. [SPEAKER_12]: It was a book I believe that he was adapting from and then people were complaining because he's a white guy. [SPEAKER_12]: Yes, but he just have four mixed-race children by the way. [SPEAKER_12]: Come on. [SPEAKER_10]: I think people are are getting carried away over that stuff. [SPEAKER_10]: Isn't he in a long-term relationship with my Rudolph forever?
[SPEAKER_12]: They have four children. [SPEAKER_10]: Right. [SPEAKER_10]: Come on now. [SPEAKER_10]: Come on. [SPEAKER_10]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_10]: Whatever. [SPEAKER_10]: It's he's to me. [SPEAKER_10]: And I'm someone who loves loves loves movies and and that's why. [SPEAKER_10]: Yeah, despite the fact that I frequently say I hate the award shows.
[SPEAKER_10]: I watch the Oscars every year and I do and I wasn't even familiar with [SPEAKER_10]: Paul Thomas Anderson like as a person I didn't I wasn't I hadn't heard him speak I hadn't seen his vibe his energy he's good right dude seems like totally like a nice nice guy he is the number the the the films that he's done I mean he's done some really good film but no I mean what he said last night is beautiful yeah [SPEAKER_10]: I love how we shared the spotlight with the other nominees.
[SPEAKER_10]: Yeah, that was, you know. [SPEAKER_12]: Oh my god, I've known Paul since we were very little. [SPEAKER_12]: Really? [SPEAKER_12]: Again, we used to torment him. [SPEAKER_05]: Are we talking like like nine, ten, some were running? [SPEAKER_12]: Yeah, we were so mean to him. [SPEAKER_12]: And I wish I had been nicer because hi, I get work. [SPEAKER_12]: He comes to the bar hang out.
[SPEAKER_12]: We don't we'll see if he'll come because it's me, but he's he Is one of the nicest and most talented humans that I've been lucky to know since I was a good 10 years old so I've known him for almost 50 years [SPEAKER_05]: Look, and it's good to see your friends do well, which I'm so proud of him part of the reason why some of the other entertainment news that's out there, Nathan Fillion. [SPEAKER_05]: Many of you know, I feel like some stuff he's not like Castle.
[SPEAKER_05]: I like that series. [SPEAKER_12]: I love Castle. [SPEAKER_12]: Yeah, I like the rookie. [SPEAKER_05]: Some people really like the rookie too. [SPEAKER_10]: They've [SPEAKER_12]: Yes, what he was a voice of the octopus on resident alien. [SPEAKER_05]: Well, because Alan is is on that was on resident alien, he was he was a star of that show. [SPEAKER_05]: Right, Nathan announced that firefly that that wonderful show that there are some people really love it.
[SPEAKER_05]: They're going to do an animated series now in development. [SPEAKER_05]: Basically, they just need a distributor for it, but they're going to get it in pieces. [SPEAKER_05]: I'm pretty sure they will. [SPEAKER_05]: I got it. [SPEAKER_05]: I've interacted with dual state a number of times over different social media. [SPEAKER_05]: She's I like dual state. [SPEAKER_05]: She's great.
[SPEAKER_05]: And but I think it's I think it's the the best way to do it because instead of having to deal with their current ages, the ages of all the actors, you can animate it and they can do their voice work and they can make they can put them wherever they need to be in the timeline. [SPEAKER_05]: And I'm like, oh, that's nice. [SPEAKER_12]: That's a beauty animation. [SPEAKER_05]: The the guy who played Shepherd and fortunately passed away back in 20 years. [SPEAKER_05]: I saw that.
[SPEAKER_05]: He was a fantastic actor. [SPEAKER_05]: Who was? [SPEAKER_10]: Who was it? [SPEAKER_05]: I can remember his name right now. [SPEAKER_10]: Oh speaking of which not to get off this, but did you guys see how many celebrities in the in the memoriam last night? [SPEAKER_10]: Yes, in the Oscars. [SPEAKER_05]: And did you see how many they left out? [SPEAKER_10]: No. [SPEAKER_10]: Yeah, they were more than than what we saw because I was bold over like holy cow.
[SPEAKER_05]: Yes, Robert Redford and unfortunately, they left them, they left, look, Ron Glass is the guy that we're looking for. [SPEAKER_12]: Ron Glass, oh God, in fact, most such a great actor.
[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, but but here's the thing is is that I you and I Jody were talking about that that we understand that they left some of these people out because some of them did more TV than film and Here's the thing I understood them leaving him out on the TV on that that version, but on the online version to me there's no excuse because There's no you don't have to have a certain amount of time you don't have to have a certain amount of space they could have included and you didn't have to be in so many movies
[SPEAKER_05]: Right, you could have just done a couple of movies, which, you know, or worked on so many movies because wrong glass. [SPEAKER_12]: And he was great. [SPEAKER_12]: God was great on one. [SPEAKER_05]: He was a delicious, he was a delicious, a lot of, a lot of things. [SPEAKER_12]: Bernie Miller, baby. [SPEAKER_12]: He was on Bernie Miller. [SPEAKER_12]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_12]: No, but I mean, because I just noticed, and I'm going to make sure that my cousin knows this.
[SPEAKER_12]: Her father was [SPEAKER_12]: honored on the online version because he passed away last April that your cousin right that that her dad was was honored in the online version but not in the TV version and he should have been because he was an Elvis movie for F. sake. [SPEAKER_05]: I get that but like I said, I get it for timing. [SPEAKER_05]: There are certain things you can understand. [SPEAKER_05]: Here's one I can't understand.
[SPEAKER_05]: So Trump's FCC chair, good old little tiny [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, mom, I'm giving this to you as hard as I can and most middle of fingers as many middle fingers as we can do. [SPEAKER_05]: He is threatening to revoke broadcasters licenses over Iran war coverage. [SPEAKER_05]: Okay. [SPEAKER_05]: Don't be us. [SPEAKER_05]: First of all, well, hello North Korea. [SPEAKER_05]: I'll give you that one. [SPEAKER_12]: Good morning, Vietnam. [SPEAKER_12]: I mean, it's real that.
[SPEAKER_05]: But he's trying to threaten like CNN and MS now, and it's like, hey, Jack asked, do you understand the mandate for the agency for which you happen to hold the current chairmanship you. [SPEAKER_12]: Oh, by the way, CNN and MS now have nothing to do with broadcast. [SPEAKER_05]: Right. [SPEAKER_05]: So he can't revoke their broadcast license because they don't have them.
[SPEAKER_05]: If you're going to revoke somebody's broadcast license, you're going to revoke an individual station. [SPEAKER_05]: There are some stations. [SPEAKER_05]: NBC ABC CBS. [SPEAKER_05]: They own some locals. [SPEAKER_05]: They have what's known as ONOS owned and operated. [SPEAKER_05]: So they are both the network and they own, but it's actually a very, very few. [SPEAKER_05]: Most local stations are owned by... Sinclair. [SPEAKER_05]: Well, these days, that's where a lot of them are.
[SPEAKER_02]: Right. [SPEAKER_05]: Next are, and right, some of the biggies like that, that are what's known as regional, and they own a number in different regions. [SPEAKER_05]: Here's the thing. [SPEAKER_05]: That's who he'd be going after. [SPEAKER_05]: Is their stations. [SPEAKER_05]: He wouldn't, he's not going to hurt ABC, like when Donald, you know, try to get Kimmel fired. [SPEAKER_05]: And Kimmel was like, okay, well, if you're not on Sinclair or next star, we're still doing the show.
[SPEAKER_05]: And they were like, wait, wait, you can't do that without me and the ABC went, no one's a matter of fact, we can, because that's literally how the relationship between the networks and the affiliates. [SPEAKER_05]: You have your thing. [SPEAKER_05]: You have to worry about the tower with the network we don't. [SPEAKER_10]: So it's so bizarre to me that they are picking all of these fights that A, they cannot win and B, make them look really, really pathetic. [SPEAKER_10]: A men.
[SPEAKER_05]: A men. [SPEAKER_10]: If you have news that's worthy of being touted and celebrated, then bring it. [SPEAKER_10]: But you're not bringing any news that's good, like what's his face? [SPEAKER_10]: Pete Hegseth was complaining that [SPEAKER_10]: Well, why aren't you giving us good headlines because your head, because the news you're giving us to report is garbage. [SPEAKER_05]: Right. [SPEAKER_05]: I'm doing stupid things.
[SPEAKER_05]: Why are you reporting all the stupid things I do? [SPEAKER_05]: Because we just are what they're saying. [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, yes, we report you decide. [SPEAKER_11]: I believe that was a fox news, right? [SPEAKER_11]: We report you decide, right? [SPEAKER_05]: Look, that's that's that's the fact that they they can't I love the fact, though that one of your friends and mind, Jodie representative Ted Lou who [SPEAKER_12]: I love him so much.
[SPEAKER_05]: Basically, he replied to FCC chair car on Twitter and basically custom out literally it. [SPEAKER_05]: Customs said, if you try this crap, you're going to be sued and you will lose, where I didn't expect Ted Lou to get support. [SPEAKER_05]: Rep. Luke got support from Senator Johnson, Senator Ron Johnson. [SPEAKER_05]: If I was like, really? [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, even Johnson was like, Brendan, you need to sit your butt down because that's not acceptable.
[SPEAKER_12]: No, it's a first and minute issue. [SPEAKER_05]: It is. [SPEAKER_05]: And this is one of these things where I sit there and go, to me, it is, like you said, BDD, it is, it's pathetic that they're making themselves look this pathetic. [SPEAKER_05]: And with this Iran war thing, oh my God, they are making themselves look so pathetic. [SPEAKER_05]: So stupid. [SPEAKER_05]: It's like, if somebody tells you not to run headlong into a wall and you do it, you look like an idiot.
[SPEAKER_10]: Let me, let me ask you a question, right? [SPEAKER_10]: Yeah, if [SPEAKER_10]: Trump is saying that he is 100% obliterated around their defensive capabilities, their offensive capabilities that just blown to smithereens why is he begging all of these countries to help him?
[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, see this is this is one of these things where you sit there and you go, um, and also why is he mad when they're like, yeah, if that's the case, then you can do it yourself, Donnie, you can you can handle it, obviously, I say we send a Navy ship with just Baron Eric Don Jr. Ivanka Jared Malania [SPEAKER_05]: Wait, are you leaving Tiffany off the boat? [SPEAKER_12]: Of course, because she's fine. [SPEAKER_05]: Um, no, no, no, I say look, you know, do get them all.
[SPEAKER_05]: You care about Tiffany. [SPEAKER_05]: Make him like Pokemon, get them all. [SPEAKER_12]: And then all his cabinet. [SPEAKER_05]: Oh, yeah, oh God, especially because Marco and the whole thing with Cuba, it's something that some of the national media is talking about a little bit, but not a whole lot. [SPEAKER_05]: Well, basically we've been blocking, well, we've been blocking Cuba's oil for almost a month now. [SPEAKER_10]: Um, they basically set up black out.
[SPEAKER_05]: Oh, yeah. [SPEAKER_05]: They've been losing power and all kinds of stuff. [SPEAKER_05]: Oh, I can't get there because they can't refuel if they land. [SPEAKER_05]: Um, it is it's a mess. [SPEAKER_05]: And yet, basically what the Trump regime is trying to do is to say, well, we're just letting the whole thing collapse. [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, letting it collapse by blockading it so that it does collapse. [SPEAKER_05]: So that then they can take credit for ending.
[SPEAKER_05]: Communism in Cuba. [SPEAKER_05]: Which I'm like, well, that's great. [SPEAKER_05]: But do you have a solution? [SPEAKER_05]: No, because clearly you didn't have a plan in a round. [SPEAKER_05]: Do you have a solution in Cuba? [SPEAKER_05]: And of course the answer is no. [SPEAKER_10]: It sounds like you're teeing up a humanitarian crisis. [SPEAKER_05]: Yep. [SPEAKER_05]: Yep. [SPEAKER_05]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_05]: They are indeed teeing up a humanitarian crisis.
[SPEAKER_05]: BDD, you're correct on that. [SPEAKER_05]: I did scary and it's dumb and it's unnecessary pretty much the those descriptions describe almost everything that these idiots have done and the fact that the [SPEAKER_05]: told everyone was going to happen if they got back in the power. [SPEAKER_05]: Anyway, look, we have at least one more round here with Brooklyn Dad to fly in.
[SPEAKER_05]: Mr. Monday evening, y'all are playing there in this instruments, but this is, and I just have to give credit to Lonnie. [SPEAKER_05]: We love that.
[SPEAKER_05]: We will, on the way back, we will talk about some more of the stuff from the news on tap fresh in your drink, and if you haven't had a chance to do it, you know, go down the hall, left right and center, we aim to please hear the politics bar, but you aim to please, and then come right back, all right, all right, we'll be right back after we pay some bills at the politics bar. [SPEAKER_05]: Monday night. [SPEAKER_05]: Thanks so much.

[SPEAKER_05]: It's all there at the politics bar dot com notice BDD I did not break the entire time you were in. [SPEAKER_05]: You know what? [SPEAKER_05]: What? [SPEAKER_10]: That wasn't even for you Sean. [SPEAKER_10]: That was that was for Jody. [SPEAKER_05]: Look, I'm glad I'm glad you were making her laugh.
[SPEAKER_12]: I said in sign language you make me laugh. [SPEAKER_05]: I was I was so focused on just doing this to the camera. [SPEAKER_05]: I didn't even I knew you guys were We're making hand signs and I just was like, nope, I'm gonna the gunna focus. [SPEAKER_10]: I'm not gonna with you I know I have to like bring some off the wall stuff Yeah, to make you break so. [SPEAKER_10]: Oh, no, we will do it.
[SPEAKER_12]: One of these days next week one of these days Machete will just get together before the show [SPEAKER_05]: because I'm that. [SPEAKER_05]: Look, this goes back all the way to high school. [SPEAKER_05]: There was a group of people, and I still interact with a few of them here and there, but we used to do a lot of theater together.
[SPEAKER_05]: And there were a small hand, even smaller handful of them, like literally three or four, that would try to do something on the last night of every play or musical that we did. [SPEAKER_05]: Right. [SPEAKER_05]: And so it's been more than 30 years now. [SPEAKER_05]: And you can still refer to with one of these people. [SPEAKER_05]: You can say, oh, wait, she took the silverware.
[SPEAKER_05]: and people go no one else will know this but there is a very small group of people who actually know what the hell that means and you say that and it just it was a thing in the play it absolutely made us made everybody break and nobody else knew what the hell it meant and this is now 35 years later and I'm telling everybody around the country but oh no when my mom was doing I do I do with rock Hudson okay all right in the mid-shap god I was
[SPEAKER_12]: eight or nine, so we're talking 1970s. [SPEAKER_12]: 76-ish. [SPEAKER_12]: And so she was touring the country. [SPEAKER_12]: And so in St. Louis, they were doing a couple of weeks of shows. [SPEAKER_12]: And so it was towards the end of the tour. [SPEAKER_12]: Because they flew me out. [SPEAKER_05]: Oh, nice. [SPEAKER_12]: Because at one point, she has to walk off stage as Agnes. [SPEAKER_12]: and brings these water glasses. [SPEAKER_12]: And it's a quick walk off walk back on.
[SPEAKER_07]: Oh, okay. [SPEAKER_12]: So they flew me out and I handed her the glasses. [SPEAKER_12]: She had no idea what's going to be there. [SPEAKER_12]: And then one time, my brother Jeffrey was doing her makeup that tour, and they had a woman who I think was working on the show, not in the show, but she was just her booze, we're just vacant, like, non-existent. [SPEAKER_12]: Well, no, they were here, but no bra, no shirts, and she handed her the glasses too.
[SPEAKER_05]: I'm trying to try to get your mom shocked and surprised. [SPEAKER_12]: Yes, I remember his hand here in the glasses. [SPEAKER_12]: She's like, what are you doing here? [SPEAKER_12]: And you had to go back on stage. [SPEAKER_12]: We're chatting out. [SPEAKER_02]: I was not there. [SPEAKER_12]: So I remember my brother told me, oh, we had a girl come out with her boobs out. [SPEAKER_12]: Yeah, no, it's like, here you go, Carol.
[SPEAKER_12]: Agnes actually that's her name and I do I do and it was just so funny that they kept messing with her The end of that tour and yet your mom did not break No, she did not and Mr. Hudson I think now [SPEAKER_05]: Oh, see, that's kind of, so I get it, I get it. [SPEAKER_05]: So when you guys do that, that's fine. [SPEAKER_05]: Just, you know, there's no need to bring anybody into the bar with their shirt off.
[SPEAKER_05]: That's because we do have some... Oh, you know, we're doing to do that. [UNKNOWN]: Ha ha ha ha ha. [SPEAKER_05]: Look, we have some rolls here. [SPEAKER_05]: It isn't, you know, I mean, you know, capacity, we don't have to worry about that. [SPEAKER_05]: Or maybe one around the world. [SPEAKER_05]: Oh, for the most part, I mean, you know, we are in broadcast radio, so, you know. [SPEAKER_12]: Yeah, that's a family part. [SPEAKER_05]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_05]: That's the family part.
[SPEAKER_05]: The non-family part is the after hours, which week we could do that later if you've got time for after hours because then we can, you know, Curse you suppose the exposed boobs would be a waste on on broadcast radio. [SPEAKER_05]: Although have you have you heard some of the guys on sports talk radio, they are in fact exposed boobs all [SPEAKER_12]: Nice segue young man. [SPEAKER_05]: Thank you. [SPEAKER_05]: Well, you know, we say we aim to please you're speaking of exposed boobs.
[SPEAKER_05]: Tom will trump in news on tap today. [SPEAKER_05]: I still can't believe this one BDD. [SPEAKER_05]: Did you? [SPEAKER_05]: I don't know if you caught this piece. [SPEAKER_05]: We got it in the first round under the cost of war section. [SPEAKER_05]: The Wall Street Journal has a good piece and we've got a free link to it there.
[SPEAKER_05]: Trump was warned about the risk of a ran blocking the streets of [SPEAKER_05]: of staff chairman raisin came on with yeah he's like a general raisin came isn't that cool isn't that a neat name dude can he do the job well obviously he can but he told him he said they're gonna do it and I'll did it anyway
[SPEAKER_10]: And now he's like, okay, well now that I've screwed up everything for the whole world how about everybody coming help me and a whole world is like, yeah, no, we're not interested were he's he's completely either in a state of delusion or just a straight up liar because earlier today he had a I don't know if it was a press briefing was some some kind of meeting and in the same breath where he said that he [SPEAKER_10]: predicted that 9-11 was Yes, yep a year ahead of time.
[SPEAKER_10]: Yeah, we have So said that he predicted that the that Iran was going to do it. [SPEAKER_10]: Uh-huh straight of hormones. [SPEAKER_05]: Oh, no, we have that. [SPEAKER_05]: We have that for those for those for those people who missed it here. [SPEAKER_01]: Lying put it on the DVR here. [SPEAKER_01]: I knew about the straight that it would be a weapon. [SPEAKER_01]: which I predicted a long time ago, predicted all of this stuff.
[SPEAKER_01]: You guys were very generous and that I predicted all of it. [SPEAKER_01]: I predicted Nathan. [SPEAKER_01]: Osama bin Laden would... No. [SPEAKER_01]: Knock out the World Trade Center. [SPEAKER_01]: No. [SPEAKER_01]: That prediction a year before he did. [SPEAKER_01]: I said, you better get him to a bad guy. [SPEAKER_01]: I watched him be interviewed one time and I said, that's a bad guy, you better get him. [SPEAKER_01]: No, he's delusional.
[SPEAKER_05]: He's just, he's definitely got mental issues. [SPEAKER_05]: He's got mental health issues and I think we all know that. [SPEAKER_05]: And you know, if this were not something that affected everybody on earth. [SPEAKER_05]: I would find this infinitely more amusing. [SPEAKER_05]: Well, this was some TV show or a movie or something. [SPEAKER_05]: I'd be like, God, nobody is so dumb that they would do the things that this jackass is done. [SPEAKER_12]: I know, if you wrote a script.
[SPEAKER_12]: What he's been doing right they'd be like nobody's that stupid they would like turn it down That's it's it's no that could never happen right right and yet. [SPEAKER_05]: Okay. [SPEAKER_05]: There's there's a whole list of things If you go to the third round under the corruption and Trump land section Trump in a new email fundraising letter featured the dead US soldiers that he killed in the R&D do not get me started on that [SPEAKER_09]: I'm going to learn about it.
[SPEAKER_09]: I don't know anything about it. [SPEAKER_09]: Some people did it and then they sent it and all use my name. [SPEAKER_09]: I didn't know about it. [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, no, no. [SPEAKER_05]: Sorry. [SPEAKER_05]: Oh, yes. [SPEAKER_05]: And then, okay. [SPEAKER_05]: So here's another one. [SPEAKER_05]: The Trump appointee to the federal arts commission wants to replace the simple classic White House columns with or Nate gotty ones because that's what Trump likes.
[SPEAKER_05]: the design. [SPEAKER_05]: You look at the front of the White House. [SPEAKER_05]: We're talking about the top of the columns with that one simple kind of a curl on it. [SPEAKER_05]: No, Donald wants them to have to be the florets and all, you know, lots of dotty and no, no, no, no, no, no. [SPEAKER_10]: Why is that a concern? [SPEAKER_12]: Oh, it's for him to make it look like Donald's house. [SPEAKER_05]: It's for him to try to put his imprint on something long after he's gone.
[SPEAKER_05]: So then he can say, see, I did that. [SPEAKER_05]: I am still there with you. [SPEAKER_12]: I can't wait for him to paint it gold. [SPEAKER_10]: You know, I think it really hurt his soul when people started talking about President Biden's contributions and how they were saying that he was consequential.
[SPEAKER_10]: Yes. [SPEAKER_10]: Now he is going out of his way to do things that make him [SPEAKER_10]: consequential does it make sure it look we're never going to forget you Donnie we are never going to forget you because as soon as you die people are going to be looking up how can i visit this guy's grave and leave something behind i have finally figured out the absolute perfect uh memorial for Donald Trump i'm not kidding a urinal
[SPEAKER_05]: correct 100% because that is the only way that you can guarantee that what people are going to do anyway will actually end up being look we say here we aim to please and we want you to aim to please in this case quite literally because it would make it a little bit easier for the park people who are going to have to take care. [SPEAKER_05]: Yes, well just saying also it would then it would be like oh my god Donald Trump has finally done something useful.
[SPEAKER_05]: So, you know, I make his memorial a urinal. [SPEAKER_05]: I'm perfectly fine with that, you know? [SPEAKER_05]: Just saying. [SPEAKER_05]: You're no kicks forever and there you go, you know? [SPEAKER_05]: Nice set, everybody's happy that way. [SPEAKER_12]: With his face on him. [SPEAKER_05]: Oh, of course, absolutely. [SPEAKER_05]: And for those people who don't think that women can use urinals, they can't... Oh, no, we can figure it out.
[SPEAKER_05]: They can't if they're just not correctly. [SPEAKER_05]: Look, we have we have the will here in America. [SPEAKER_05]: We have the intelligence of the brain power. [SPEAKER_05]: We can design a memorial. [SPEAKER_05]: The Donald J. Trump Memorial urinal. [SPEAKER_05]: On that lines are starting now. [SPEAKER_12]: We'll raise money for that. [SPEAKER_05]: That is that is one idea. [SPEAKER_05]: You cannot flush.
[SPEAKER_05]: I just say he's so dumb about so many of the things that he has done and the fact that he was told he was warned, he was and that we as as as Americans were warned. [SPEAKER_05]: Look tomorrow if you are, if you haven't been Illinois, y'all best get your asses out there. [SPEAKER_05]: W. B. [SPEAKER_05]: B. M. Chicago has a piece in our news on tap today. [SPEAKER_05]: Chicago early voting turned out for the 2026 Illinois primary is higher.
[SPEAKER_05]: then elections pass so that's keeping up if you know if you're you're not sure of what to expect by the way if you are listening on WC PT tomorrow night they will have live coverage so you will probably not hear us tomorrow we will be pre-empted but the nice thing is you can listen to us on the podcast so don't worry about it don't miss a show do that and of course listen WC PT tomorrow night if you're in Chicago.
[SPEAKER_05]: Obviously, one election, by the way, that was finished late Friday. [SPEAKER_05]: We did not get that one into Friday. [SPEAKER_05]: It's hot. [SPEAKER_05]: Yes, exactly. [SPEAKER_05]: Democrat, anti-tops, inflicted the Bokwanton mayor, even three plus years. [SPEAKER_05]: Sight vote. [SPEAKER_05]: Yes, correct. [SPEAKER_05]: Five of the initiatives. [SPEAKER_05]: The initial count is that he'd only won by one vote.
[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_05]: And then they did, like, I think a technical recount. [SPEAKER_05]: And I think it was like six votes or something, and then they did another, like manual hand recount, and it was five. [SPEAKER_12]: So he won by five every vote counts. [SPEAKER_12]: Thank you.
[SPEAKER_05]: every freaking vote counts always does if you are in Illinois and I'm not saying who you should vote for I know you who know he you want to I'm just saying I thoroughly support catabacasala That's fine. [SPEAKER_05]: You could support who you want to but I like cat because I'm another things She doesn't pull nasty internet stunts.
[SPEAKER_05]: We talked about that last week if you missed it You should go back to listen and she also dropped a lot f-bombs and s-bombs She did but [SPEAKER_10]: the primary or regular. [SPEAKER_10]: Oh, yeah. [SPEAKER_05]: This is the primary. [SPEAKER_05]: This is the primary. [SPEAKER_05]: Although there are some other localized issues around the state of Illinois. [SPEAKER_05]: So if you don't know what to expect in your election that's why we have a piece in the news on tap.
[SPEAKER_05]: It says what to expect if you're an Illinois and you're going to election tomorrow. [SPEAKER_05]: So you might want to go read up on that tonight. [SPEAKER_05]: Brooklyn identified as already agreed. [SPEAKER_05]: He's going to hang out with us here in one more segment in the after hours. [SPEAKER_05]: He's been involved in some of the war stuff in the Middle East. [SPEAKER_05]: So he knows about that as well. [SPEAKER_05]: So he's going to be a very good guest tomorrow. [SPEAKER_05]: And of course, we got Bob Sessen coming up on Wednesday and maybe some of the treats during the week. [SPEAKER_05]: Look. [SPEAKER_05]: We'll fill you into tomorrow for those of you joining us over at the politics bar. [SPEAKER_05]: We'll see you there in a moment.
