[SPEAKER_09]: It's political. [SPEAKER_09]: Thank you, radical. [SPEAKER_09]: Don't think it's far away, but you are the politics bar. [SPEAKER_09]: Shotsmith, Pearson, Jody Hamilton. [SPEAKER_07]: Hey, hey, Jody. [SPEAKER_13]: I can't use my lab mic!
[SPEAKER_08]: Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha [SPEAKER_08]: Your spicy journey today is that it like I'm sorry.
[SPEAKER_08]: I just left wearing that shirt So Well, you know, we we do know that Lonnie has really good taste because you know that his favorite place. [SPEAKER_08]: It is the idea of a The politics bar [SPEAKER_08]: Hey, man. [SPEAKER_08]: It's Thursday. [SPEAKER_08]: It's been a busy week for all of us except for some of the government workers for whom it's been a busy week of twiddling your thumbs. [SPEAKER_08]: Look, we do have some advice for you folks.
[SPEAKER_08]: We will talk about that stuff today. [SPEAKER_08]: Of course, talk about the news, which there's some ward, there's some peace. [SPEAKER_08]: It's kind of here kind of there. [SPEAKER_08]: It's not really anywhere specific right now. [SPEAKER_08]: And of course, grandpa, grandpa has been making all kinds of appearances lately, which I keep looking at going [SPEAKER_08]: Big thanks by the way to all of you who are listening on all of our great affiliates.
[SPEAKER_08]: Thanks for coming here to the bar If you're coming from WCPT AMA 20 in Chicago, or maybe you're coming in from AM950 Minneapolis, Saint Paul Maybe you're coming from the D2 or talk in Tennessee or progressive voices radio worldwide or ever you happen to be or maybe Maybe you're one of those wonderful future people [SPEAKER_08]: Of course, you realize if you're like a month out in the future, you could also be listening on Georgia now. [SPEAKER_08]: That's possible.
[SPEAKER_13]: That's too. [SPEAKER_13]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_13]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_08]: I mean, you know, because if it's next. [SPEAKER_08]: If it's next month, the this time, you could be listening in Georgia on Georgia now. [SPEAKER_08]: Or elsewhere in Georgia now, depending on how you listen. [SPEAKER_13]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_08]: Lots of ways to listen, lots of news of the day as well. [SPEAKER_08]: How was your day, Jody? [SPEAKER_13]: I got up way too early again.
[SPEAKER_08]: Is it just, uh, like, uh, your, your internal clock thing going. [SPEAKER_13]: Hey, which is up and it's funny. [SPEAKER_13]: I literally yand on Bob show and he goes, did I just hear you, yand? [SPEAKER_08]: Yes, Bob. [SPEAKER_13]: I said, uh, and then he tried to play me the Jeff Bridges thing. [SPEAKER_13]: We're just trying to make it go to sleep. [SPEAKER_13]: I'm like, that's not helpful. [SPEAKER_08]: No, exactly.
[SPEAKER_13]: And then when I finish his show, he's like, you can take a nap now. [SPEAKER_13]: I said, no, I can't. [SPEAKER_13]: I have another show to do. [SPEAKER_08]: Bob, she has lots of shows. [SPEAKER_13]: Type another show, Bob. [SPEAKER_08]: She's not, she's not Allison Gill, who has more shows to do. [SPEAKER_08]: But you still have a lot of shows to do. [SPEAKER_08]: And, you know, we are awesome. [SPEAKER_08]: You and I together were very glad hanging out in this bar.
[SPEAKER_08]: Look, I know that there are a lot of people who are, they're, they're kind of frustrated right now because of the shut down and, and I, I absolutely understand that and and surprisingly, you know, we give Schumer and Jeffries a lot of crap because for good reason. [SPEAKER_08]: Well, yeah, lots of good reasons. [SPEAKER_08]: I don't necessarily think they're 100% up to the moment. [SPEAKER_13]: I agree.
[SPEAKER_08]: But I think that they were not, they and their staff were not trying very hard before. [SPEAKER_08]: I think they've actually played things very well for their part on the shutdown. [SPEAKER_08]: And I think they are trying hard now to do some of the things that they didn't use to do before. [SPEAKER_08]: Great.
[SPEAKER_08]: For example, you mentioned this yesterday we'll we'll play it we'll believe it here, but it's it's it's Chuck Schumer doing his best try to do a cool video for social media and for him, you know, he get some facts actually some pretty pertinent facts right here. [SPEAKER_11]: So now we're a government shutdown and you may be asking yourself how the hell did we get here?
[SPEAKER_11]: True. [SPEAKER_11]: Donald Trump and the Republican Party are hell-bent on taking health care away from 60 million people, closing community clinics, rural hospitals, nursing homes, also they can keep giving tax breaks to their billionaire friend. [SPEAKER_08]: True. [SPEAKER_11]: To disgrace. [SPEAKER_11]: So Democrats have three words for this. [SPEAKER_11]: No way. [SPEAKER_11]: It's literally life or death.
[SPEAKER_08]: which, you know, I have to admit that this and you know, he's trying exactly exactly but but he is 100% correct. [SPEAKER_08]: Chuck Schumer is right on one very important thing in that it is very much life or death. [SPEAKER_08]: Now, I don't know if you like watching C-Spanjoting or if you watch it dead very much. [SPEAKER_13]: I have watched it. [SPEAKER_13]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_08]: Okay. [SPEAKER_08]: They used to do this a lot.
[SPEAKER_08]: They haven't done it for a number of years. [SPEAKER_08]: And today was the first time in a number of years that the speaker, Donnie Johnson, went to the C-Span studios and took phone calls. [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_13]: Oh, I was trying to know because I would call. [SPEAKER_08]: Well, there were some stupid phone calls, but there was actually some, there was a really good phone call from a Republican woman actually here in Virginia.
[SPEAKER_08]: Let me play this for those people who haven't heard it, or maybe they've only heard a tiny part of it. [SPEAKER_08]: I want to actually play it so that you guys can hear it here in the bar in context. [SPEAKER_08]: Um, because when you hear it in context, when people say, oh, Chuck Schumer's exaggerating, Democrats are exaggerating, saying that the shutdown is life and death, um, well, you're just asking this woman who talked to Tiny Johnson today on Seasman.
[SPEAKER_12]: Hi, Mr. Johnson, so my question or comments are related to what you said yesterday about not being open to past any legislation to ensure that military gets paid. [SPEAKER_12]: I'm sure you can tell by my voice and very shaky, just want you to hear a little bit about my family. [SPEAKER_12]: I have two medically fragile children.
[SPEAKER_12]: I have a husband who actively serves this country, he suffers from PTSD from his [SPEAKER_12]: If we see a lapse in pay, come the 15th, my children do not get to get the medication that's needed for them to live their life. [SPEAKER_12]: Because we leave paycheck to paycheck. [SPEAKER_12]: I've heard you earlier say that you side with President Trump.
[SPEAKER_12]: Only thing that he says, well, I just wrote an article this morning that said he absolutely wholeheartedly believes that there needs to be legislation put in so that we do not miss a paycheck. [SPEAKER_12]: You have the power to do that. [SPEAKER_12]: And as we were public and I'm very disappointed in my party and I'm very disappointed in you because you do have the power to call the house back. [SPEAKER_12]: You did that or you refused to do that just for a show.
[SPEAKER_12]: I'm begging you to pass this legislation my kids could die. [SPEAKER_12]: We don't have the credit because of the medical bill that I have to pay regularly. [SPEAKER_12]: You could stop this and you could be the one that could say military is getting paid. [SPEAKER_12]: And I think that it is awful and the audacity of some of whom it's six figures a year to do this to military families is insane. [SPEAKER_08]: She's right.
[SPEAKER_13]: Yeah, and that's the thing, it's like people forget that they make almost $200,000 a year in Congress, which which is a really nice living even if you are in LA or New York or some of the biggest cities $200,000 you're $186 something a year you're doing fine.
[SPEAKER_08]: you're doing for and if you're not then you don't know how to budget well and on top of which there's all the money that comes from lobbyists all the money that comes from packs all the money that comes from there all doing very well most most of the people who are members of congress
[SPEAKER_08]: if they weren't millionaires before they get there in the millionaires after right and only takes a couple of years a couple of terms right to start making millions of dollars more even people are even for people who aren't gaming the system right so you have an event a year you know your your county democratic party your city democratic party your state democratic party Republicans have it on their side to
[SPEAKER_08]: And they want to get the the person of the moment or they want to get usually if it's your own member of Congress, they don't charge you. [SPEAKER_12]: Right. [SPEAKER_08]: But that's not always the case, but for the most part, but they want to get, you know, the big elected person, you, they want to get Jasmine Crocodone. [SPEAKER_08]: They're not in Texas. [SPEAKER_08]: They want to get Chuck Schumer and they're not in New York. [SPEAKER_08]: Or a game Jeffries.
[SPEAKER_08]: So, that person is a professional speaker. [SPEAKER_13]: Yeah, it's a speed fee. [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_08]: And that's speaking fee is $15,000. [SPEAKER_13]: Yeah, that's why. [SPEAKER_08]: Yep. [SPEAKER_08]: Mm-hmm. [SPEAKER_08]: And that's not to say that that's just what the standard fee is for somebody who is a talent at that level. [SPEAKER_13]: And I'm not going to begrudge anybody for making those fees ever.
[SPEAKER_13]: I'm never going to begrudge them, but the fact of the matter is, they're still making [SPEAKER_08]: Right. [SPEAKER_08]: And the fact that this woman whose spouse is a veteran of wars that we sent them to their kids are they medically necessary drug needs and they are living paycheck to paycheck like most of us here. [SPEAKER_08]: And Johnson is his, I, I, I, I didn't play his response because his response was just worthless.
[SPEAKER_08]: It was, well, you know, blah, blah, blah, blah, yack and yack and yack and yack, which right exactly exactly. [SPEAKER_08]: You, you all didn't see that move, and that's okay. [SPEAKER_08]: You didn't just, just imagine, Donnie dancing at one of his, his little events there. [SPEAKER_13]: When he does a handy J. There you go.
[SPEAKER_08]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_08]: But yeah, that's, [SPEAKER_08]: this is what it's about this is this is what it's about and quite frankly one of the other things that it's about there's a really good piece by Dave day in who we've talked about before great journalist over the American prospect and he reminds folks that yes all of this is about the health care but it is also [SPEAKER_08]: about the agreement to make sure there are no decisions.
[SPEAKER_08]: Democrats could win the battle on the health care and still lose on decisions and then Republicans will just say, nah, you know, we gave you the ACA subsidies, but we're taking it back. [SPEAKER_08]: Right. [SPEAKER_08]: So you got to win the battle and the war. [SPEAKER_05]: Mm-hmm. [SPEAKER_08]: And yes, Democrats have been winning the battle. [SPEAKER_08]: But unfortunately, in the meantime, there are casualties.
[SPEAKER_08]: and there are all kinds of casualties all over the country. [SPEAKER_08]: It's not just government workers too. [SPEAKER_08]: It's a lot of the businesses. [SPEAKER_08]: There is, there's another story happens to be in the second round in the news on tap. [SPEAKER_08]: Um, so, you think beer has anything to do with the shutdown Jody? [SPEAKER_13]: People need it. [SPEAKER_13]: Right now? [SPEAKER_08]: Well, yeah, more than ever.
[SPEAKER_08]: But if you're a small brewery or a small distillery, what do you do in the fall? [SPEAKER_13]: You make your boozes. [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah, but you make like specialty versions, right? [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah, you make all them version. [SPEAKER_13]: Yeah, half of these and those kinds of things. [SPEAKER_08]: Right. [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah, but in order to make a specialty version in states and with the Fed, you have to get each of those. [SPEAKER_08]: You have to go through the process.
[SPEAKER_08]: You have to get it authorized. [SPEAKER_08]: You have to get a label. [SPEAKER_08]: You have to get an official number for it and all of that. [SPEAKER_08]: Those offices to get all those licensed. [SPEAKER_08]: Bingo. [SPEAKER_08]: Jody's right. [SPEAKER_08]: And so all those small businesses, Republicans say, oh, I'm from the small businesses, but there's a lot of builders out there. [SPEAKER_04]: Mm-hmm.
[SPEAKER_08]: If they have to do anything that involves anything with registration for anything through the federal government right now, those offices? [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_08]: Also closed. [SPEAKER_08]: There are all kinds of you, and all the small businesses that are set up outside of government offices and government workplaces, those small businesses don't have the people coming in for breakfast and long, leaving for dinner, coming to get groceries on their way home.
[SPEAKER_08]: So, yeah, this is not anything small. [SPEAKER_08]: And yes, it's very big and it's very important about the health care. [SPEAKER_08]: God, everybody, it's very important about that. [SPEAKER_08]: But it is also about the fact that you've got these Republicans who are not thinking of, they're not thinking of their constituents, they're not thinking of other people just in general. [SPEAKER_08]: Whether they're constituents or not. [SPEAKER_08]: Right.
[SPEAKER_08]: They're not thinking of other Americans, even though that's literally their job is to think of and take care of the needs of other Americans. [SPEAKER_08]: One would think, yeah, my personal feeling is if they can't do their jobs. [SPEAKER_08]: Let's replace them. [SPEAKER_08]: I agree. [SPEAKER_08]: All right, it is a Thursday night. [SPEAKER_08]: Nice. [SPEAKER_08]: It's been, it's been kind of busy.
[SPEAKER_08]: JoJo was supposed to be here, but, um, [SPEAKER_08]: Let's just say there's a certain governor out there. [SPEAKER_13]: Who might be our future president? [SPEAKER_08]: WCP Tland, who decided that he wanted to talk to her. [SPEAKER_08]: So, well, we will have to get Joe Joe in on another night. [SPEAKER_08]: But, uh, she owes us, and so do you, Governor Pritzker, got to say that? [SPEAKER_08]: We'll get you here in the bar soon enough. [SPEAKER_08]: Look, it is Thursday night.
[SPEAKER_08]: Joe and I have more news on tap for you, and a very good drink of the day. [SPEAKER_08]: Come right back. [SPEAKER_10]: We'll be right back after we pay some bills at the politics bar. [SPEAKER_08]: It's a Thursday night here at the politics bar. [SPEAKER_08]: You got your me shots with Pierce and you got your show to Hamilton who was a fantastic friend and an amazing producer and a great air talent and just a wonderful person all around.
[SPEAKER_08]: Honestly, you should get her shirt. [SPEAKER_08]: It happens to be at the store at the politics bar. [SPEAKER_08]: Dad, couple of, we actually have two versions of the shirt that says Jodi is right because she is. [SPEAKER_13]: And we don't sure this has Sean has a story.
[SPEAKER_08]: Which god knows I have stories for damn near everything, but you know as as I used to say you get stories when you make mistakes And I have made a few Check out you can get your shirts and you glasses mugs pillows. [SPEAKER_08]: It's all there at the politics bar dot com just click on store [SPEAKER_08]: All right, Joni. [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah, there's some crazy stuff going on in the world of news. [SPEAKER_08]: There's some crazy stuff going on in the world of entertainment.
[SPEAKER_08]: Um, what do you want to go on the news on Tap today? [SPEAKER_08]: Because we could pour from any direction. [SPEAKER_08]: Uh, we probably maybe we should hit the, uh, the Trump's war in America or the peace quote unquote in the Middle East. [SPEAKER_13]: Well, you know what, if he, if it happens, it's Joe Biden's peace deal. [SPEAKER_08]: In many ways, yeah, for for those people who have forgotten or maybe you haven't heard yet, you've been busy doing to have a life, whatever.
[SPEAKER_08]: Uh, in the section under the fourth round today for in affairs, there's a paste plan. [SPEAKER_08]: I Israel and Amos have agreed to the first round crossing fingers as Judy is I chose everything.
[SPEAKER_08]: a crossing your eyes I'm not sure crossing eyes for peace would work it hurts after a while but you know well yeah there's a lot of people hurt no been sixty sixty seven thousand is the low-end estimates there estimates above a hundred thousand probably about half of them [SPEAKER_08]: kids, which is appalling. [SPEAKER_13]: Yes, it is. [SPEAKER_08]: But, uh, Israel and Hamas have agreed to the first phase of a peace plan to end the fighting and release the hostages.
[SPEAKER_08]: Uh, there are the details as Jody noted, basically are very similar to the peace plan that Joe Biden did. [SPEAKER_08]: And this is what a lot of people, none of the mainstream media has been reminding people or talking people about this. [SPEAKER_08]: It was January 15th. [SPEAKER_08]: literally less than 10 months ago. [SPEAKER_08]: Almost 10 months. [SPEAKER_08]: If it was next week, it would be 10 months.
[SPEAKER_02]: Right. [SPEAKER_08]: And Joe Biden, the Biden administration got Israel Hamas to reach a deal on a Gaza ceasefire and hostage release. [SPEAKER_08]: They got through phase one. [SPEAKER_08]: And then they went back to fighting. [SPEAKER_08]: This is why I'm not. [SPEAKER_08]: It's not that I'm not high on the idea of [SPEAKER_08]: piece there or I would like to see peace in most places. [SPEAKER_13]: Absolutely.
[SPEAKER_08]: I'm fine if you have to fight a fight if it's a worthwhile fight. [SPEAKER_08]: But if it's not, and oftentimes wars are not, then this is a stupid as fight. [SPEAKER_13]: It's gone on. [SPEAKER_13]: What Netanyahu [SPEAKER_08]: And proportional, proportional retaliation is the international military phrase, proportional retaliation, and I realize that when people are caught up in anger,
[SPEAKER_08]: there's there's no such thing as being angry and proportional retaliation the two of them don't work right if you know it's you can be angry at at somebody in your neighborhood all their dog keeps pooping on my lawn and they never pick it up and whatever and somebody just at that anger builds and builds and builds that's to some degree magas anger at the rest of us
[SPEAKER_08]: is because their anger stems from going back to really some ways, the 1970s is when some of the big corporations and big manufacturing started moving stuff out of the United States and definitely when Reagan hit in the 80s and all of that, the firing, the air traffic controllers, which they're threatening again, even though they anyway. [SPEAKER_08]: But I get being angry and I get that they have 50 years of anger boiled up.
[SPEAKER_08]: But it doesn't actually do a whole lot if you're trying to get things settled. [SPEAKER_13]: No. [SPEAKER_08]: And that's, this is, nothing is more obvious than what's going on with Israel and Moss. [SPEAKER_08]: Yes, Israel has an awful government, but there's a benefit because if they actually do get a peace plan that works, I would say, maybe a little bit further than the first stage, they'll be able to get rid of BB.
[SPEAKER_08]: We had a link to a poll I believe it was across fingers and eyes and toes again exactly. [SPEAKER_08]: We had a poll I think it was yesterday, the day before we were in the news on Tapio, 45% I believe or something would like that Yahoo to leave now. [SPEAKER_08]: Right now, like, right this evening. [SPEAKER_08]: Which great. [SPEAKER_08]: But as soon as they get an actual piece, then Yahoo's ass is out. [SPEAKER_13]: Yeah, and he doesn't want that.
[SPEAKER_08]: No, because then he's going to have to go to trial for all this up, and you can bet that there are a lot of people who want to see Netanyahu and the Yahoo's around him go to trial for the security mistakes that allowed October 7 to have. [SPEAKER_13]: Absolutely. [SPEAKER_13]: Just clear that up. [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_08]: Big time. [SPEAKER_08]: He's whatever life he has left, he's going to end up in court or in prison or both for the rest of it.
[SPEAKER_08]: It's not going to be a fun, fun way to end his life and anybody's name. [SPEAKER_13]: And he's trying to put that off as long as he can. [SPEAKER_13]: So yes, there's a deal. [SPEAKER_08]: But that's that's why I'm not. [SPEAKER_08]: I, you know, when I got up this morning, I was seeing all the, you know, looking around at that, the news, the national news and, and of course, they're all, oh, peace deal, peace deal.
[SPEAKER_08]: And I'm like, you know, I could, I could remember, man, well, when there was that January, yeah, that's when that was. [SPEAKER_08]: You all did the same thing. [SPEAKER_13]: And the Nobel Prize for Peace is coming out next week. [SPEAKER_08]: Friday. [SPEAKER_08]: Friday it'll be announced. [SPEAKER_13]: Okay, so Joe Biden. [SPEAKER_08]: I'm a Jody on that one. [SPEAKER_08]: But if nothing else, look, it should be shared and do not let the Orange Man bow guarded.
[SPEAKER_08]: So there's there's obviously clearly been a lot of work from and people who don't necessarily always agree. [SPEAKER_08]: Egyptians and the Turks, the folks in Turkey and Qatar. [SPEAKER_08]: I mean,
[SPEAKER_08]: they don't they don't all get along but they all they were the ones who were doing most of the heavy lifting as far as this piece deal so Jared Kushner who isn't even a member of the administration this time flew in in whatever he's trying to get more money kind yet that's that's what he's about always it's always a griff for them but he he wants to be richer than his father-in-law which he already is so there's that yeah i'm going you're all you've already achieved that dude anyone's going
[SPEAKER_08]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_08]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_08]: Back to the top of the news on tap. [SPEAKER_08]: So Trump's war in America, we do know that there have been court cases going on for Chicago and for Portland. [SPEAKER_08]: The Portland one, there was a small decision last night. [SPEAKER_08]: I think about the time we were getting out of here.
[SPEAKER_08]: Ninth Circuit Federal Pills Court ruled that the Oregon National Guard troops could remain under Trump's control, but could not be deployed to Portland. [SPEAKER_08]: You can you can be in control of them nominally, but you cannot send them there because there's nothing going on there. [SPEAKER_08]: There's there's going to be a furry dance this weekend there is less going on in Portland now. [SPEAKER_08]: Then there was before this stuff began.
[SPEAKER_08]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_08]: Portland is there's nothing going on there. [SPEAKER_08]: Nothing. [SPEAKER_08]: So there was however last night a large piece of protest in Chicago several hundred people that Michigan Avenue We've got a kind of a partial picture of that in the news collage at the top of the news on tap today By the way, if you have not subscribed you can subscribe to the news on tap. [SPEAKER_08]: It's free.
[SPEAKER_08]: So you guys go there hang out with us and be like, oh, hey, that's what they're talking about. [SPEAKER_08]: I don't want to read a little more [SPEAKER_08]: You can certainly read a little more. [SPEAKER_08]: You can view video clips of some of the stuff that we're doing, and then you're like, oh, now I'm better informed. [SPEAKER_08]: Plus, I got to hang out with Sean and Jody, you know, that's pretty cool.
[SPEAKER_08]: So, anyway, but yeah, so we don't know exactly what's going to happen, we know what should happen, we'll see how all of this goes. [SPEAKER_08]: I just, [SPEAKER_08]: I don't understand all the people who are giving in Donnie. [SPEAKER_13]: I don't either. [SPEAKER_08]: Whether it's in courts, whether it's in business, whether it's in whatever. [SPEAKER_08]: I don't understand. [SPEAKER_08]: I don't understand the, I can't remember who it was.
[SPEAKER_08]: Way went something on social media. [SPEAKER_08]: One of the platforms might have been Facebook or Insta who said, um, [SPEAKER_08]: uh... did you know that that the uh... a linsey haligan couldn't even get people in her office where they hear we knew that we didn't and they got a self-care line and we we knew that we knew that we knew that we that but she couldn't even get people in her office now for the call me thing now they're still trying to go after with tisha james
[SPEAKER_13]: what a waste of time and and tax payer money. [SPEAKER_08]: Great. [SPEAKER_08]: We pay for that. [SPEAKER_08]: Yes. [SPEAKER_08]: You can be paying for the medication for the for the wages and the medication of the woman who called tying Johnson days or her kids are fine. [SPEAKER_08]: Or you can be throwing money down a rat hole trying to go after Jim Komi and let tisha james the attorney general of New York.
[SPEAKER_08]: and for whom they've been searching for what the uh uh the Trump regime took over 10 months ago. [SPEAKER_05]: Yes. [SPEAKER_08]: January 20th. [SPEAKER_08]: So basically for nine months. [SPEAKER_08]: They had somebody searching and they didn't find anything and now they're trying to throw out charges anyway. [SPEAKER_13]: We even Durham couldn't find anything and they love that guy. [SPEAKER_08]: He was there for four years.
[SPEAKER_08]: Four freaking years couldn't find a damn thing. [SPEAKER_08]: So yeah, I [SPEAKER_08]: This is why you do not vote for Republicans, folks. [SPEAKER_08]: That's, and yes, there are some some good old fashion Republicans. [SPEAKER_13]: Like Eisenhower, but he's dead. [SPEAKER_08]: Or people like Michael Steele, but he's not running for office. [SPEAKER_08]: Or people like Joe, oh, no, he's a devil. [SPEAKER_13]: He's a devil now. [SPEAKER_13]: A David J. Wait.
[SPEAKER_08]: Oh, yeah, he's also a Democrat now. [SPEAKER_08]: Two. [SPEAKER_13]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_13]: Michael serves the only one I can come up with at this point. [SPEAKER_08]: Michael's deal is is pretty much the only Republican of any significant note that is still a Republican but he is pretty much completely at odds with his party. [SPEAKER_13]: I know, and it's sad that I mean, the woman that called Johnson, I mean, she's a Republican, and she's, and she is an integrate.
[SPEAKER_08]: Oh, God, okay. [SPEAKER_08]: So yesterday, I told you, I said that I said that if you heard Marge, you would not believe that it was Marge. [SPEAKER_08]: I know, we are great. [SPEAKER_08]: Okay, yeah, here you guys here. [SPEAKER_08]: I've got this on the DVR. [SPEAKER_08]: If you didn't know this was Marjorie Taylor Green, would you know this was Marjorie Taylor Green? [SPEAKER_00]: This is the number one issue I hear about my district.
[SPEAKER_00]: Health insurance premiums are unaffordable. [SPEAKER_00]: Not only for people on the ACA, but also families, maybe small business owners, that by their own health insurance. [SPEAKER_00]: And with the costs of living today, I think it's reached a boiling point. [SPEAKER_00]: I am personally against the government shut down. [SPEAKER_00]: I really want to be doing appropriations. [SPEAKER_00]: I believe in that process.
[SPEAKER_00]: That's our job bringing taxpayer dollars back to our districts that help our communities, roads, water projects, you name it. [SPEAKER_08]: Wow. [SPEAKER_08]: I'm not going to give you a full clap. [SPEAKER_08]: I could give her full applause. [SPEAKER_08]: But in golf flat, they're Marjorie, full golf cart. [SPEAKER_13]: Well, I mean, for her, it's personal because her children.
[SPEAKER_08]: But also you can you can tell that she is trying to separate herself slowly from not fast enough right, but she's trying to separate herself and that's great whatever that's and it's great that she's actually representing the interest of Yes her kids who I believe live in her district, but also the people who pay her to represent them. [SPEAKER_13]: Yep. [SPEAKER_08]: It doesn't mean she's great on anything else. [SPEAKER_13]: Look, just that and the Epstein stuff.
[SPEAKER_13]: That's it. [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah, whatever. [SPEAKER_08]: And she could change her mind tomorrow on either of those and we'd be like, you know, thank you very much, but... Well, I think a lot of Republicans are trying to pull away from Donald because they know. [SPEAKER_13]: He is good. [SPEAKER_13]: There's a problem with him right now. [SPEAKER_08]: And how can anybody on?
[SPEAKER_08]: How can Jake Tapper not be trying to write a new book [SPEAKER_13]: Daughtering Donnie is how bad his yeah, how did he get a stupid interview via text we don't know if it was Donnie [SPEAKER_08]: True. [SPEAKER_08]: You don't know who's on the other end. [SPEAKER_08]: You don't know. [SPEAKER_08]: It's a text exchange from a lot of the journalists who have since 20 15ish since Trump. [SPEAKER_08]: You know, okay, I'm down that stupid ass escalator.
[SPEAKER_08]: So his people keep a list of of media contacts for him. [SPEAKER_08]: Donald, they even keep them in his phone who knows in which case the the phone itself might be more valuable than anything else. [SPEAKER_08]: Not not for the the foreign information, but just even for the the contacts that it has and the [SPEAKER_08]: But out of the blue, he'll just basically maybe see in a promo for something, or he'll be flipping channels and then see somebody.
[SPEAKER_08]: And he's like, oh, I want to reach out to them. [SPEAKER_08]: Think, and he just texts. [SPEAKER_08]: This is what other journalists that he has reached out in God. [SPEAKER_08]: But that's the same thing that he's done the entire time that he's been a media figure. [SPEAKER_08]: He sees somebody and, oh, and he gets their information. [SPEAKER_08]: He just calls them up or text them.
[SPEAKER_08]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_08]: It's not the way to run a country, but it's also the fact that his mental health, his physical health. [SPEAKER_08]: I do not think that he is. [SPEAKER_08]: I didn't think he was capable up to the task of properly running the country to begin with. [SPEAKER_13]: Oh, yeah. [SPEAKER_08]: One of many reasons that, you know, I did feel for him. [SPEAKER_08]: I will never vouch for him in a million years if I live that one. [SPEAKER_08]: He's failing.
[SPEAKER_08]: He's failing and he's failing. [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_08]: And this part of it is the same thing as there were too many people around Biden who did not say, you know, we need to be careful about how to put him out there at media. [SPEAKER_08]: We need to to schedule the interaction. [SPEAKER_08]: They just rolled out out there and he just, well, we've got some of those brain dribblings. [SPEAKER_08]: We will play them on the DVR for you guys.
[SPEAKER_08]: We have something to dribbles. [SPEAKER_04]: How do we do? [SPEAKER_08]: A little bit. [SPEAKER_08]: And it's both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. [SPEAKER_08]: We got another one of those dual drinks for you. [SPEAKER_08]: We'll do that next. [SPEAKER_08]: It is the drink of the day. [SPEAKER_08]: Coming up here. [SPEAKER_08]: It's a Thursday night at the politics bar. [SPEAKER_08]: Freshing up your drink. [SPEAKER_08]: Come on back.
[SPEAKER_08]: You got a little bit more time with Jody and me. [SPEAKER_08]: Here in your radio. [SPEAKER_08]: Dates if you want to. [SPEAKER_10]: We'll be right back after we pay some bills at the politics bar. [SPEAKER_08]: Just, you know, your jazz album based on the music from the politics bar. [SPEAKER_08]: The A.A. [SPEAKER_08]: Jazz album based on the music from the politics bar. [SPEAKER_08]: Sounds better when he says it.
[SPEAKER_08]: Thank you guys by the way for listening from wherever you are if you happen to be missing any part of the show You're like, oh, hey, I just talking to my friend and then I you know gotten a car and turn it on the radio or whatever Simple thing you can do you can always subscribe to the podcast in your favorite podcast player or you can subscribe at the politics bar dot com six dollars a month Get you the podcast add free, which you know, that's pretty cool for you.
[SPEAKER_08]: You don't have to listen to the ads and we don't get the little bit of money And that's kind of nice, but you also get the drink of the day with the recipe [SPEAKER_08]: and you get the news on tap for free. [SPEAKER_08]: Check it out, it's the politicsbar.com. [SPEAKER_08]: All right, Jody, today's drink of the day. [SPEAKER_08]: We did something a little bit shorter, a little bit nicer.
[SPEAKER_08]: I think maybe in some ways, because look, there are a lot of folks who, I have been affected by the shutdown. [SPEAKER_13]: Absolutely, especially the lady that called Johnson today. [SPEAKER_08]: Oh God, yeah, yeah, which, you know, I'm, I will give Johnson a small, small bit of praise. [SPEAKER_08]: I do think it should be required for the speaker of the, I think it should be required for the principles as they used to call them.
[SPEAKER_08]: The president, the vice president, and the, the, you know, you'll just be the gang of eight or whatever. [SPEAKER_08]: The, the leaders, basically, of both major parties to go to C span once a month and take calls from anybody and get the absolute love and snott blasted out because if you listen [SPEAKER_08]: They'll do what I think of as kind of some people refer to it as a matter, isn't Rachel Maddo?
[SPEAKER_08]: So you start with something about, did you, did you know that the cicada? [SPEAKER_08]: And of course, the person's like, how the hell does this have anything to do with what? [SPEAKER_08]: And it ends up coming around and smacking them, like, you know, a baseball bat 10 times a size of a normal one made a foam, just poke, and they go, oh, crap, I just got smacked by it. [SPEAKER_13]: What's like question time in England? [SPEAKER_13]: Right, exactly.
[SPEAKER_08]: It's fun to watch it's it's it's similar question explain question time to the folks here in bar who do not know in the it's it's in the UK to the parliament It's in parliament and basically the prime minister goes and just basically gets yelled at [SPEAKER_13]: They take questions for everybody, it's great because they do get yelled at, depending on, you know, but they're getting yelled at by other
[SPEAKER_08]: And that's why I like the sea span thing because anybody can pick up a phone and call them. [SPEAKER_08]: And the rules there are the same rules that I operated on for years when I worked with Randy Rhodes. [SPEAKER_08]: They're the same rules to some degree that I think, you know, we use it, Steph's show, same rules. [SPEAKER_08]: A lot of good shows do this, where you're not screening for content. [SPEAKER_08]: The rules are simple.
[SPEAKER_08]: Do you have a phone that's pretty decent? [SPEAKER_08]: you're not hammering your hamburger found exactly right so is is is the phone quality decent the quality of the audio decent are you making sense with what you're saying and are you not swearing? [SPEAKER_13]: Right, those are very important. [SPEAKER_08]: Wait, if you can achieve those things, and by the way, if you can achieve all of those things, you too could leave us a message to the barcode if you want to.
[UNKNOWN]: 21367772582136777258. [SPEAKER_08]: It's 2136777 salt. [SPEAKER_08]: Lack on you, Margarita, man. [SPEAKER_08]: Of course, if you achieve those things, maybe we'll call you back and have you on the show. [SPEAKER_08]: But here's the thing. [SPEAKER_08]: I liked that. [SPEAKER_08]: I liked that. [SPEAKER_08]: He was actually taking calls. [SPEAKER_13]: Oh, I'll give him that. [SPEAKER_08]: I try to give credit words do and I'm like great because they haven't done it for a long time.
[SPEAKER_08]: He probably should have done previously, but whatever great fine. [SPEAKER_08]: But there are a lot of people who are being hurt by the shutdown. [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_08]: So for today's drink of the day, we try to do something that is focused on the shutdown and helps you guys add a little bit. [SPEAKER_08]: Johnny, what is the drink of the day? [SPEAKER_13]: It's literally called a shutdown cider cocktail.
[SPEAKER_13]: Nice. [SPEAKER_08]: Now, of course, you know, I know there's some Woppos doing it and some other organizations are doing things like discounted food and drink and whatever. [SPEAKER_08]: The simple drink today, this shutdown cider cocktail. [SPEAKER_08]: You may be able to do with some of the stuff you already have in your house in your liquor cabinet. [SPEAKER_08]: And you can do a virgin. [SPEAKER_08]: and you can do a version. [SPEAKER_08]: So you can do a loaded or unloaded.
[SPEAKER_13]: So the way to say it loaded or unloaded. [SPEAKER_13]: You could get loaded or not loaded. [SPEAKER_13]: It's exactly. [SPEAKER_08]: See, that's exactly where that comes from. [SPEAKER_08]: So Jody, what is in? [SPEAKER_08]: You shut down cider cocktail. [SPEAKER_13]: Okay, what you guys are going to need is a shake or some ice and a rocks glass.
[SPEAKER_13]: Okay, and then one and a half ounces of Pisco Brandy or other clear clean spirit like a [SPEAKER_13]: or a neutral vodka, or just don't have it if you want to go virgin. [SPEAKER_13]: Okay, that's it. [SPEAKER_08]: And you should probably, if you guys have, you know, alcohol in your house, you know, Pisco Brandy, grapple, white rum, silver tequila, or a neutral vodka, you probably got one of those in the cabinet right now.
[SPEAKER_13]: Most people that have any sort of liquor cabinet have at least one of those. [SPEAKER_13]: Right. [SPEAKER_13]: Two ounces of apple cider. [SPEAKER_08]: Mm-hmm. [SPEAKER_13]: And if you're building a virgin like use three ounces because of the one and a half ounces of the booze that you're not going to have, right? [SPEAKER_08]: Can it make sense? [SPEAKER_13]: An ounce of lemon juice. [SPEAKER_13]: A half ounce of simple syrup. [SPEAKER_13]: Two dashes of bitters.
[SPEAKER_13]: Okay. [SPEAKER_13]: An apple slice and or cinnamon stick for garnish, you can use them both. [SPEAKER_08]: That's nice. [SPEAKER_08]: That's I think most people have probably most of those things hanging around in their kitchen. [SPEAKER_13]: You're going to have an apple right here. [SPEAKER_13]: Lonnie loves his apples. [SPEAKER_13]: Yeah, apples are great. [SPEAKER_08]: How you like their apples, Lonnie? [SPEAKER_13]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_13]: He loves him.
[SPEAKER_13]: He loves them apples. [SPEAKER_13]: So what you're going to do is you add all of the ingredients to the shaker. [SPEAKER_13]: Shake it until it's called strain it into the rocks glass filled with ice. [SPEAKER_13]: It's very simple. [SPEAKER_13]: You just shake it till it's called. [SPEAKER_13]: And then you, you know, garnish with the apple slice and or the cinnamon for the customers. [SPEAKER_13]: It's easy. [SPEAKER_08]: It's a really simple drink.
[SPEAKER_08]: It's not going to take you a lot of work. [SPEAKER_08]: Nope. [SPEAKER_08]: That is. [SPEAKER_08]: I think it's a perfect drink for the shutdown. [SPEAKER_08]: Joe, you're a genius. [SPEAKER_08]: We love you. [SPEAKER_13]: You're not a genius. [SPEAKER_13]: I'm just happy with certain websites. [SPEAKER_08]: Well, if you guys want to go to the website and get the information for the drink of the day, you guys can always do that.
[SPEAKER_08]: You know where to subscribe for it, the politicsbar.com. [SPEAKER_08]: I do think it's important for people when you are, if the shutdown is affecting your regular normal stream of life, you keep yourself busy. [SPEAKER_08]: Look, the, the, the, [SPEAKER_08]: Some of these Republicans, most of these Republicans who are not willing to stand up to Trump, and especially Trump, they may think you're worthless, they may, and you may feel worthless.
[SPEAKER_08]: You may feel, you know, really socked out because of this don't. [SPEAKER_08]: It is not you, it is not, it is not your fault. [SPEAKER_08]: You did not do anything wrong. [SPEAKER_08]: So keep yourself busy, that list of that list of honey do, that your spouse, your significant other, that you left for yourself, that you're like, man, all these things I gotta do, don't do the things that cost you the extra money.
[SPEAKER_08]: But there's other stuff, like, you know, there's that room in your house that you gonna want to clean for a long time. [SPEAKER_08]: You got time, plan it out, attack that sucker. [SPEAKER_08]: You know, I mean, you got some gardening things you want to do. [SPEAKER_08]: You probably got to get your yard ready if you got one for the autumn coming up, you know, treason things. [SPEAKER_08]: I mean, use this as a beneficial time. [SPEAKER_13]: It'll help clear your brain, too.
[SPEAKER_08]: It just, hey, if you want to start reading the book, or maybe you have yet to read John Fugelsang's book, Separation of Church and Hate, which, by the way, John would normally be here on a Thursday night, but John had an event. [SPEAKER_08]: I believe in Chicago. [SPEAKER_13]: Yes, to last, I think it's some minor last time. [SPEAKER_08]: I think it was last night's, and then he's traveling back, I believe, in three years.
[SPEAKER_08]: So, but look, if you want to read, there's a great book, if you want to read, start that. [SPEAKER_08]: Plenty of things you should be doing to keep yourself busy. [SPEAKER_13]: And also to keep your mind off your troubles.
[SPEAKER_08]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_08]: If you're busy doing something, if you're busy laughing and you're hanging out with friends, if you're busy reading or, you know, playing in a room or playing in the yard, you're, you know, listening some good music, whatever your favorite kind of music is.
[SPEAKER_08]: Oh, oh, we didn't put it in there, but, um, [SPEAKER_08]: So there is a country artist, he's got a song that's not out yet, but they put out some previews and Republicans are already freaking out about it because he says nasty thing is about ice. [SPEAKER_08]: I think he said, oh yeah, I'm like, they're they're just looking for something to complain about. [SPEAKER_13]: when he's never, they think he's right, where are he's not?
[SPEAKER_13]: None of his music has ever been right wing, so it's like dude, it's like, it's like when Paul Ryan loved rage against a machine and Tommy Morella went, have you listened to our music man? [SPEAKER_08]: not if that intently they probably have it and that's look you can be whoever you want I used to make fun of Ben Sass when he was the the senator from Nebraska.
[SPEAKER_08]: I was with a group of people that we just decided to ruthlessly mock him and insist even upon being proven otherwise [SPEAKER_08]: So we just kept on on social media. [SPEAKER_08]: Oh, it was the Nickelback and and then it was, oh, I don't hate them. [SPEAKER_08]: Oh, I don't go. [SPEAKER_08]: Oh, you put him in that position and it's just and so then people would send him Nickelback things. [SPEAKER_08]: He's like, oh, I hate this.
[SPEAKER_08]: You guys saw things like, you know, because he was Nick Sass was a crappy senator. [SPEAKER_02]: Yes. [SPEAKER_08]: And you know, Nickelback is a band that gets way too much hate. [SPEAKER_08]: They do.
[SPEAKER_08]: I mean, unnecessarily, they, you know, whatever, but it was just one of those fun things to do because it would, you know, when you're talking about stuff like this and you're talking about fun stories you've had and then things you've done, you don't think about some of those things. [SPEAKER_08]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_08]: So, you know, keep your mind busy, keep your body busy, keep yourself doing the things that you should be doing.
[SPEAKER_13]: Touch grass, like Bella says, just touch some grass. [SPEAKER_08]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_08]: Bella with a Z, or Zella with a B. Zella with a B. I love you. [SPEAKER_08]: I love you guys started that over at Staff Show. [SPEAKER_08]: That was kind of funny. [SPEAKER_08]: That was good. [SPEAKER_08]: That's a good thing. [SPEAKER_08]: She is a good addition to the Stephanie Miller. [SPEAKER_08]: She's amazing. [SPEAKER_13]: I love her so much.
[SPEAKER_13]: She's just what a great hire she was. [SPEAKER_13]: She's really amazing. [SPEAKER_08]: Look, there are great producers, even amongst the youngsters. [SPEAKER_05]: Yes. [SPEAKER_08]: And a lot of the youngsters are also looking at a lot of the [SPEAKER_08]: governing crap that's going on like this shut down like the the oh hey we did a piece thing 10 months ago what we're doing a piece thing again stupid um and they're going we can do this better it is definitely something that
[SPEAKER_08]: I remember when, so, yes, my friend, cat, Abigail who's running in Illinois and I and who you guys should definitely go, you know, look at her site, cat for Illinois, she is still doing things different, when she first came out with her campaign slogan, what if we didn't suck? [SPEAKER_08]: Right. [SPEAKER_08]: And at first I was like, that's, that's a little harsh there, you know? [SPEAKER_08]: No, it's perfect.
[SPEAKER_08]: If you ask the question, [SPEAKER_08]: What if the Democratic Party, what if the Republican Party didn't suck? [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_08]: What if both parties didn't suck? [SPEAKER_08]: What if our political system didn't suck? [SPEAKER_08]: What if our governments at every level didn't suck? [SPEAKER_08]: So let's check question, ask yourself. [SPEAKER_08]: If those things happen, man, wouldn't you be better? [SPEAKER_08]: You probably have more money?
[SPEAKER_08]: I know I would. [SPEAKER_13]: Oh yeah. [SPEAKER_08]: You probably wouldn't worry about your healthcare right now. [SPEAKER_13]: Nope. [SPEAKER_08]: uh... you know you you wouldn't be worried if you're looking for a job you mean that's that's the point is to ask the question and then say what would you do differently when you get the chance and it's not if because it's when always [SPEAKER_08]: So, think about that carefully folks.
[SPEAKER_08]: There's a lot of things that we can do to fix things. [SPEAKER_08]: We just have to get involved in doing it. [SPEAKER_08]: And maybe that's what you spend some of your time doing. [SPEAKER_08]: If you happen to be, you know, less busy shall we say. [SPEAKER_08]: Maybe get yourself involved in a local or a state race or helping out a race elsewhere or maybe getting involved with your local political party.
[SPEAKER_08]: So, plenty of suggestions keep yourself a busy is what I am, I'm suggesting. [SPEAKER_08]: All right, we're going to keep ourselves busy. [SPEAKER_08]: We've got a whole other hour hanging out with you. [SPEAKER_08]: We got more news on tap. [SPEAKER_08]: We got some some good sports news, unless you're a Yankees fan. [SPEAKER_08]: Sorry, we're not laughing at you.
[SPEAKER_08]: Okay, maybe we are laughing at you a little bit, but let's just let's just let's just just just Look freshen up your drink or go do the thing. [SPEAKER_08]: It's a top of the hour. [SPEAKER_08]: So look you know where the rest rooms are, you know We aim to please you aim to please which you can get a shirt that says that by the way at the politics mark dot com. [SPEAKER_08]: Check it out hang out do your thing and come right back.
[SPEAKER_08]: We got a home other hour you and me and joney Thursday night [SPEAKER_10]: We'll be right back after we pay some bills at the politics bar. [SPEAKER_09]: I got to the bar. [SPEAKER_03]: It's political. [SPEAKER_09]: I got to the bar. [SPEAKER_09]: I ain't get to the bar. [SPEAKER_09]: I ain't get to the bar. [SPEAKER_09]: Wherever you are, the politics bar. [SPEAKER_09]: Sean Smith, Pearson, Jody Hamilton.

[SPEAKER_08]: So we are very glad you guys are hanging out with us in the bar for more than what we're having to be. [SPEAKER_08]: Oh, mm-mm. [SPEAKER_13]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah, well, you know, I need to sip it. [SPEAKER_08]: It is bar after all.
[SPEAKER_08]: We are very glad you're coming to us from whatever corner of the universe that happens to be Whether that is AM-950 Minneapolis saying, oh, maybe you are listening on the D2 we're talking to try city's area of Tennessee Maybe you're listening on AM-A20 Chicago WCPT or maybe you are listening on progressive voices radio worldwide Whatever you happen to be or maybe you're one of those future people in which case hello from the past
[SPEAKER_13]: Hi, what do we look like now in the future? [SPEAKER_08]: Please send us back to DeLorean. [SPEAKER_13]: Yes, please. [SPEAKER_08]: Please. [SPEAKER_13]: Please, we want to get out of Biff in the second movie. [SPEAKER_08]: Well, thank you for everybody. [SPEAKER_08]: If you're subscribed and your favorite podcast player, or at the politicsbar.com. [SPEAKER_08]: And remember, if you're like, you know, I like you guys, I think your cool. [SPEAKER_08]: This is fun.
[SPEAKER_08]: I just like to throw you a little money. [SPEAKER_08]: Just subscribe. [SPEAKER_08]: Please do that. [SPEAKER_08]: Yes, yes. [SPEAKER_08]: Just six bucks a month. [SPEAKER_08]: So, look, like a buck 50 a week. [SPEAKER_08]: Come on. [SPEAKER_13]: That's a way, please. [SPEAKER_08]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_08]: Especially if you go from Starbucks. [SPEAKER_08]: price have gone up freaking everywhere. [SPEAKER_13]: They're closing a bunch of stores too apparently.
[SPEAKER_08]: Yeah, I'm putting people out of work with you. [SPEAKER_08]: And it's not like they're making money. [SPEAKER_08]: God knows they are. [SPEAKER_13]: No, they don't like people trying to unionize. [SPEAKER_13]: That's what that's about. [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah, which. [SPEAKER_08]: I, as I've said before, if corporations did things properly, you all would need union. [SPEAKER_13]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_08]: And you. [SPEAKER_08]: All right. [SPEAKER_08]: It is a Thursday night.
[SPEAKER_08]: Yes, we were going to have Joe Joe from Jersey in, but she, you know, she got a call. [SPEAKER_13]: I've got a very important person and important person. [SPEAKER_13]: Oh, yeah, I was going to say he's not important, but An important person who might be our president at some point, so I'm going to give her any grief for that. [SPEAKER_13]: I got it. [SPEAKER_13]: I got it. [SPEAKER_08]: No, it's it's cool.
[SPEAKER_08]: And besides that, you know, we're hoping that she slides this his number. [SPEAKER_08]: And then, of course, we'll get Joe in at some point. [SPEAKER_13]: We will be back. [SPEAKER_08]: Trust me. [SPEAKER_13]: She feels bad about this. [SPEAKER_13]: She really does. [SPEAKER_08]: I'm glad that she feels bad about it because I was really looking forward to having you. [SPEAKER_08]: Me too. [SPEAKER_08]: I love her. [SPEAKER_08]: She's freaking hilarious.
[SPEAKER_08]: And you can just, I mean, you just find that she's wicked smart. [SPEAKER_08]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_08]: And you just, she's like one of those toys you had to get, you started off and it goes, you know, by the way. [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_08]: She's watching you laugh and you have fun. [SPEAKER_08]: So, which, you know. [SPEAKER_13]: She got ready too. [SPEAKER_08]: Well, there's that too. [SPEAKER_13]: She bad to look at. [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah, I'm, you know, yeah.
[SPEAKER_08]: I wouldn't hawker out of my hammock for eating crackers. [SPEAKER_08]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_08]: Anyway, but she will be back. [SPEAKER_08]: And John will be back hopefully next week as well. [SPEAKER_08]: So there you go. [SPEAKER_08]: We do have some other good guests coming up on the dock at Frangela is going to be back is that next week, which is very cool. [SPEAKER_08]: Jared Rizzi, I believe is coming back next week and Julie from Shell is going to be.
[SPEAKER_13]: I'm looking forward to that. [SPEAKER_08]: She's she's [SPEAKER_08]: And she's great in a lot of different ways. [SPEAKER_08]: I actually, I had a guy I knew when I was getting out of the Navy, when you're in, kind of, what do they call that? [SPEAKER_08]: TPH, temporary processing, holding something like that, anyway. [SPEAKER_08]: And he was no gibway. [SPEAKER_13]: Oh, wow.
[SPEAKER_08]: So I learned a few things because, you know, me, I like to ask questions and, you know, and I'm like, oh, cool, I've never met somebody who is from your tribe. [SPEAKER_02]: Right. [SPEAKER_08]: Okay. [SPEAKER_08]: So teach me things and he was a two-spirit and I didn't know what a two-spirit person was at that point and I'm like, okay, and we should talk about all kinds of stuff.
[SPEAKER_08]: And he was like, you just, like, soak all this stuff up, I go, yeah, that's kind of the way I do things. [SPEAKER_08]: I ask a question and soak up information, that's how you should be. [SPEAKER_08]: It's how I've always been. [SPEAKER_08]: My mom always used to say that she's like, you don't have anybody that you don't really know. [SPEAKER_08]: You just go up and ask to everybody questions.
[SPEAKER_08]: Which I did as a kid, I would, you know, people like people who, if people were really weird, I might. [SPEAKER_08]: But it's not necessarily people who look weird. [SPEAKER_08]: I mean, people if you have green hair or purple hair, pink hair, that doesn't mean that you look weird. [SPEAKER_08]: Like, you remember in a men in black, yes. [SPEAKER_08]: When will Smith's character identifies the girl. [SPEAKER_13]: When he's shooting right.
[SPEAKER_13]: Yeah, what are you doing here? [SPEAKER_13]: Wait, why is she there? [SPEAKER_08]: Right like all the monsters are hanging out and it's like, why is this girl in like two in the morning hanging out in a dark city corn right right right now That was very funny scene, and then Especially when I was younger I had a pretty good ability to identify weirdos like that little girl
[SPEAKER_08]: anybody else doesn't matter what you look like or whatever and I'd be like oh that's interesting and I would ask what some people would consider kind of rude questions sometimes but I was you know always interested in you know whatever some like I don't know that I would like to learn that yeah why not yeah well that's kind of my thought if you if you learn more well what's what's the phrase if you know better you do better
[SPEAKER_13]: Yeah, my sister, my oldest sister, my big little sister because she's short and I'm her daughter when she was about six years old because my sister Kathy worked in government her adult life. [SPEAKER_08]: cool what she like uh uh take our agency or just went from agency to agency. [SPEAKER_13]: She worked in Sacramento for years. [SPEAKER_13]: She worked for governors and all sorts of people. [SPEAKER_13]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_08]: Stay government nice.
[SPEAKER_08]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_13]: And so she worked in insurance insurance division at one point when I was having issues on like who do I call she goes this is what you call. [SPEAKER_08]: Um anyway, so we heard great to learn that stuff. [SPEAKER_13]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_13]: So when her daughter, my niece, was about six years old, she never talked to my niece as a child. [SPEAKER_13]: She talked to her as an adult.
[SPEAKER_13]: Okay. [SPEAKER_13]: Okay. [SPEAKER_13]: She would just, you know, have conversations with her as if she were an adult. [SPEAKER_13]: And so my niece would be at like, you know, parties with like politicians and all these, you know, monkey monks. [SPEAKER_13]: at like six, seven years old, and could have an adult conversation with adults. [SPEAKER_08]: Which, of course, is freaking out the adults because they're like, are they like, how do you know this?
[SPEAKER_13]: She knows what do you mean? [SPEAKER_13]: I'm, what? [SPEAKER_13]: You know, smart kid, by the way, still a smart, she's in her, she's pushing 15 now. [SPEAKER_13]: Oh, I'm kind of more. [SPEAKER_08]: No, it's called well-seasoned. [SPEAKER_13]: there we go. [SPEAKER_13]: But no, I mean, she would always, she never talked to her like she was a little kid. [SPEAKER_13]: And therefore, Megan, that's my niece's name, just grew up talking like an adult.
[SPEAKER_13]: I mean, granted, she was treated like a child because she was a kid. [SPEAKER_13]: But she was never talked down to her. [SPEAKER_08]: But that's, that's important. [SPEAKER_08]: I think it's important to learn as much as you can. [SPEAKER_08]: And to learn how to interact in the right ways to learn how to to [SPEAKER_08]: to interact with the right people in the right ways at the right times. [SPEAKER_13]: Yeah, I mean, she would literally hold her own at six, seven years old.
[SPEAKER_13]: which great major politicians and she'd be like holding her on. [SPEAKER_08]: See, that's you got to know how to interact with the right people in the the right places at the right times not everybody understands all of those kinds of things. [SPEAKER_08]: For example, there there are people who say, oh, well, this event happened. [SPEAKER_08]: You got to talk about it right now. [SPEAKER_08]: You got to talk about it right now. [SPEAKER_08]: You got to talk about it right now.
[SPEAKER_08]: If you don't know what you're talking about, why would you go on, you know, especially if you've got microphones like we do, or, you know, the cameras which we're working on which we will have a whole bunch of versions, you, if you don't know what we're talking about, why would you get on and say stuff you don't know? [SPEAKER_08]: Right. [SPEAKER_08]: Or if you're publishing something, website, newspaper, magazine, why would you publish stuff?
[SPEAKER_08]: I put out this link, oh my god, this happened. [SPEAKER_08]: People say, great. [SPEAKER_08]: What happened? [SPEAKER_08]: And you say, I have no details, but that happened. [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_08]: Right. [SPEAKER_08]: Well, there are details now, finally, on the Palisade's fire of New York Boulevard. [SPEAKER_08]: They got, they got him. [SPEAKER_13]: He moved to Florida.
[SPEAKER_08]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_08]: Well, actually, I think he was, he was from California, originally, and then he moved to Florida and then he came back. [SPEAKER_08]: So he was a Florida man.
[SPEAKER_13]: which does not who set the fire that he set it like a week before it re-smoldered basically what happened was he set the fire it they put it out but then it came back up because of the winds that's what they that that is what the the very initial thought was by the firefighters who is said we put a fire we we put one out there literally at the location last week yeah and
[SPEAKER_08]: There is, you know, if you hear any barking, that's you know, I, you know, there is a video you can see from KTLA we have that in the news on today and a couple of stories as well. [SPEAKER_08]: One of the things that is, it's one of the reasons why we need to regulate the AI that's out there. [SPEAKER_08]: Yes. [SPEAKER_08]: Most of it's not really AI. [SPEAKER_08]: So it's known as large language models. [SPEAKER_08]: This is one of these things that I've learned.
[SPEAKER_08]: Large language models are basically computer programs that are designed to please you. [SPEAKER_08]: They are always looking to the first thing to please you. [SPEAKER_08]: They, what do you want to know? [SPEAKER_08]: I'll tell you what you want to know. [SPEAKER_13]: It's the algorithms on Facebook and Twitter and all. [SPEAKER_08]: Oh, you, you, you look for this one thing once. [SPEAKER_08]: I'll give you 10,000 more of that.
[SPEAKER_08]: Yes. [SPEAKER_08]: Because obviously, you must be interested in this one particular thing. [SPEAKER_08]: You, you look for it once, therefore, you want 10,000 of it. [SPEAKER_13]: During during, uh, I want to say it was the 2012 election, I think, um, because I was liking a lot of things that some of my friends that are African-American on Facebook, all of a sudden I was getting ads for [SPEAKER_13]: straightening my hair as a black lady and I'm like that's fun.
[SPEAKER_08]: I don't need it, but think that the equivalent of where most AI is now is that's that's the equivalent intellect level of where it is.
[SPEAKER_08]: There are some some people who have dogs who are absolute people, please [SPEAKER_08]: and oh you brought me something great sometimes cats do it too if they're into our outdoor cats oh you brought me something and then they keep bringing you everything [SPEAKER_08]: because they thought that the active bringing you with something was what you wanted and they want to please you. [SPEAKER_08]: So it's it's I don't know. [SPEAKER_08]: Oh, here's a car.
[SPEAKER_08]: Here's a bus here. [SPEAKER_13]: Like that's actually so I cat bringing something to a point where this guy was cooking some stew. [SPEAKER_13]: Okay. [SPEAKER_13]: And the cat brought like a dead animal and just put it in the stew. [SPEAKER_08]: Oh, the cat was trying to be helpful. [SPEAKER_08]: And I [SPEAKER_08]: Right, but I get it, but that's, well, in any case, this firebug, who, uh, lit the fire that destroyed so much stuff out in the, uh, 12 people.
[SPEAKER_08]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_08]: Um, use chat GPT to generate images of burning forests and cities, which, if you were thinking about regulations and those kind of things, wouldn't you want to put in some kind of regulations for hazardous [SPEAKER_08]: When you want to flag stuff like that, and I'm not saying we don't want the Gestapo, but what we want is when people have stuff like that, it's like, you know, are you okay? [SPEAKER_08]: Here's some mental health stuff.
[SPEAKER_08]: Are you, you know? [SPEAKER_08]: And if somebody is using, like, they do have some limitations because the companies themselves have figured this out. [SPEAKER_08]: So they don't want you to use their AI stuff to make images of killing politicians and things. [SPEAKER_08]: they try, but my thought is they could try harder, and they need to try harder others. [SPEAKER_13]: They do. [SPEAKER_13]: I mean, week.
[SPEAKER_08]: Hey, like the question we asked before, last hour, what if they didn't suck? [SPEAKER_13]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_08]: What if they tried not to suck about being an AI company? [SPEAKER_08]: Well, they're not AI. [SPEAKER_08]: They're just large language model companies, and I wish they would say that. [SPEAKER_08]: Still, it's just, [SPEAKER_08]: Well, because artificial intelligence, man, that sells well, yeah, but it ain't about selling.
[SPEAKER_08]: It's about, you know, for example, in this case, making sure this guy who was clearly a fire bug and had some mental deficiencies was not feeding his urge to start a fire, which he inevitably did and, you know, 12 people died. [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_13]: Let alone the property damage and what has happened to part of my town. [SPEAKER_08]: Right.
[SPEAKER_08]: y'all can do things better out there folks and if you know somebody who is involved in that kind of thing hey help me do the good things and remind them if they're not doing good things that they should be doing things better because that's just how we do that's how we roll absolutely up we do have a more news on tap after all it is a Thursday night you got you joddy halton you got your main shots with peers and we got you here in the bar with us thank you very much for coming in for wherever you happen to be

[SPEAKER_08]: All right, Thursday night, Jody. [SPEAKER_08]: We forget things. [SPEAKER_08]: You and I sometimes we're not, we're not, you know, we're not super old, but we're not. [SPEAKER_08]: Well, let's, let's just say that that we're, we're not as bad as Donnie. [SPEAKER_08]: Oh, my God. [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah, did, did, did, did you see this? [SPEAKER_08]: I think this was this was yesterday or the day before.
[SPEAKER_13]: How we got rid of the first amendment or [SPEAKER_08]: Oh, well, yeah, we can do that one too. [SPEAKER_08]: I mean, I've got clips of both of those in the DVR here. [SPEAKER_08]: Yes, well, we'll do the first amendment one since you suggested it, because in case of those of you who didn't realize, you no longer have freedom of speech according to Donald Trump.
[SPEAKER_07]: We took the freedom of speech away because that's been through the courts and the courts and you have freedom of speech. [SPEAKER_07]: But what has happened is when they burn a flag and agitates and irritates grabs, they've never seen anything like it on the button. [SPEAKER_08]: No, no, we still have the freedom of speech. [SPEAKER_08]: Thank you very much. [SPEAKER_08]: So we can tell Donnie to pound sand. [SPEAKER_13]: And he irritates me when he speaks.
[SPEAKER_08]: So he irritates me pretty much every moment of his existence. [SPEAKER_08]: So God, but it's, if it were just one off, if it were just a one off thing, [SPEAKER_08]: I'd be like, okay, well, you know, he is almost 80. [SPEAKER_08]: That happens. [SPEAKER_08]: We'll get up there. [SPEAKER_13]: It's never just one with him. [SPEAKER_08]: It's never just one. [SPEAKER_08]: Oh my God, here's another one. [SPEAKER_08]: Okay, do you remember what a habeas corpus means?
[SPEAKER_13]: Yes, it's, uh, you have to produce the body, basically. [SPEAKER_08]: Mm-hmm, right. [SPEAKER_08]: It's not a person, right? [SPEAKER_13]: No. [SPEAKER_08]: Okay. [SPEAKER_08]: Well, this was Donnie yesterday, uh, along with, um, Kristi, no. [SPEAKER_13]: I just keep your dogs away.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Have you given any more thoughts to possibly suspended and be as corpus to not only deal with these insurrectionists across the nation, but also to continue rapidly depouringly glialis. [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, it's been, it's suspending who? [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, corpus. [SPEAKER_06]: So, I don't know. [SPEAKER_06]: I'd rather leave that to Kristi. [SPEAKER_06]: What do you think? [SPEAKER_00]: No, sir, I haven't been a part of any discussions on that.
[SPEAKER_13]: Remember when she was questioned in the Senate about habeas Corpus, and then she said, no, the president can do whatever he wants. [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah, yeah, she was wrong then, and she's wrong now. [SPEAKER_08]: But even more so, just the fact of Jesus, if you thought about giving any suspending habeas Corpus, habeas, who? [SPEAKER_13]: Yeah, who? [SPEAKER_08]: It's not a person. [SPEAKER_13]: No, it's a concept, it's a thing, it's... [SPEAKER_08]: He's failing.
[SPEAKER_08]: He is failing. [SPEAKER_08]: He is failing. [SPEAKER_08]: He's failing. [SPEAKER_08]: We've got some stories on that in the news on tap today. [SPEAKER_08]: You guys can read it. [SPEAKER_08]: You can actually go and click. [SPEAKER_08]: You can view that the Habius Corpus clip. [SPEAKER_08]: We have that in the free news on tap, which you can get at the politicsbar.com. [SPEAKER_08]: There is something that's tied to that that's in the news on tap today, Jody.
[SPEAKER_08]: Trump, he got his routine annual physical about six months ago. [SPEAKER_13]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_08]: He is now said to get another routine annual physical. [SPEAKER_13]: Yeah, but that was okay. [SPEAKER_13]: It's not a physical then it's a checkup is what I would call it. [SPEAKER_08]: But uh-huh, right because annual is once a year. [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah, just once a year. [SPEAKER_08]: Right. [SPEAKER_13]: That's what the year bug is an annual because it's once a year.
[SPEAKER_08]: Jody is right. [SPEAKER_08]: Yes, it's a year book is called an annual. [SPEAKER_08]: Another name for it because it's once a year.
[SPEAKER_13]: or semi-annual I mean it's just right any of those it's just not okay yeah I mean looks on people like to you know they they say hey I buy and maybe you are by annual that's fine it's up to you but anyway I mean I haven't seen my doctor twice a year but I have a physical once a year and I have a check-up six months later [SPEAKER_08]: Right. [SPEAKER_08]: Well, this is that Donnie's Pete.
[SPEAKER_08]: It was either Donnie himself or his people who said, hey, he's getting another annual medical check. [SPEAKER_08]: Got, um, no, it's not an annual, it's more than once a year. [SPEAKER_13]: Oh my god. [SPEAKER_08]: Okay, what we do more than just politics here at the politics bar, we definitely have to go down to the media and entertainment section.
[SPEAKER_08]: You know who is actually on the same side as us, Jody, as far as wanting more, wanting news media to have more integrity to be better as a whole. [SPEAKER_08]: Pope Leo. [SPEAKER_13]: I like Pope Bob. [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah, I do too. [SPEAKER_13]: I liked both of the poops. [SPEAKER_08]: You know, I was like, I was going to Frank, but I, you know, Pope Bob was pretty cool.
[SPEAKER_08]: And, and, and, and here's the thing is that I'm like, to fact that he's hitting on that, the fact that he's hitting on the, you know, take care of the stranger, as Jesus said, which is, you know, immigrants. [SPEAKER_08]: I mean, he's being a Christian as John mentions in his book. [SPEAKER_08]: So it's like, this is, you know, I'm like, [SPEAKER_08]: You talk to talk. [SPEAKER_08]: You walk the walk. [SPEAKER_08]: I kind of, you know, I dig that.
[SPEAKER_08]: That's, there are still things I disagree with the Pope on, you know, I still think there's no reason not to have, hey, Anglican Church now run by woman. [SPEAKER_08]: Thank you. [SPEAKER_08]: whatever whatever.
[SPEAKER_08]: I won't like to give you a baby steps for the Catholics just exactly exactly you give you give praise word do and criticism were due to absolutely that's great uh... Taylor Swift was on Seth Myers last night doing a talking about her new album and how Travis is kind of a gomba but that's fine Travis is he's [SPEAKER_08]: you know, whatever. [SPEAKER_08]: There were several baseball games today. [SPEAKER_08]: Do not tell us what they are. [SPEAKER_08]: I know somewhere.
[SPEAKER_08]: There's someone something on the background here somewhere. [SPEAKER_08]: But we're not looking at those yet. [SPEAKER_08]: I do know that the Toronto Blue Jays proved they were the top dog and they knocked out the New York Yankees. [SPEAKER_08]: Look, I'm sorry for you, Yankees fans. [SPEAKER_08]: I get it and I'm not, I'm not being mean to you or anything. [SPEAKER_08]: But I do have to tell you, if you're looking for somebody to blame.
[SPEAKER_08]: Like the, the Cubs have their curse. [SPEAKER_08]: Yes, they didn't know, which they thought they got rid of in 2016, maybe they didn't. [SPEAKER_13]: We had a whole drink about it. [SPEAKER_08]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_08]: Was that last week or this week? [SPEAKER_08]: No, it was this week. [SPEAKER_08]: It's Tuesday, Monday or Tuesday.
[SPEAKER_08]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_08]: But if you're a Yankees fan, or you know a Yankees fan, [SPEAKER_08]: and you're looking for who to blame for why the Yankees did not go to the World Series this year here. [SPEAKER_08]: I've got a little clip you absolutely should hear hang on. [SPEAKER_07]: You're gonna win, I'll tell you what, at Georgetown Brew is a great friend of mine, the whole family, it's a great family, and Randy is wonderful, and I will say you're gonna win.
[SPEAKER_07]: George used to go for some reason, I don't know what it was, we won every time I came, Randy is that right? [SPEAKER_07]: Every time I came, when the game was in Colme, he was a, you think that was easy, city with him for a game, and it wasn't just a brutal, you were exhausted at the end, but he won, and you're gonna win, you're gonna go all the way. [SPEAKER_08]: No, they're not going to go all the way, Donnie. [SPEAKER_08]: They are done for this season.
[SPEAKER_13]: Poor Yankees. [SPEAKER_13]: You don't want an endorsement from Donald right now, kids. [SPEAKER_13]: You just say exactly. [SPEAKER_08]: I don't think anybody should want an endorsement from him, but if you're a Yankees fan, that is who you can blame. [SPEAKER_08]: You can blame Donald Trump. [SPEAKER_08]: And just imagine the cognitive dissonance for certain magazines, especially if they're on Long Island, who are Donald Trump, mega-di-hards, and also Yankees fans.
[SPEAKER_08]: I know that's not everybody, but for those people who are, because they're like, you did it to us, you did it, you host us, you screw us, you jerk, which, you know, whatever, blame Donnie, blame Donnie, donnie to the scoops, blame him. [SPEAKER_08]: I have not seen the results of the Cubs Brewers, although the Cubs extended the season yesterday, Tigers did the same thing with Mariners, that game is tomorrow.
[SPEAKER_08]: But your Dodgers, yeah, they pulled off the sweep of Philly, so congratulations to Jerry. [SPEAKER_08]: And of course the L.A. [SPEAKER_08]: Dodgers. [SPEAKER_08]: We're moving on to the next round, which I'm glad for.
[SPEAKER_08]: Part of the reason I'm glad for that, of course, is because of the fact that basically, so after 2019, when the nationals won the World Series, the folks who own the team basically decided they didn't really want to put a whole lot more money into the team anymore, which
[SPEAKER_08]: And so the Philly is pretty much bought most of the people who, uh, because they have, uh, they have Harper, Christopher here, and they have, they, they, they have multiple people who basically were on the Washington National roster.
[SPEAKER_08]: There's, there's literally the heart of their batting order has three of the heart of, uh, when they, when they, when they were here, they, anyway, so if you're Philly fan, I'm sorry, but I still, I'm like, you know, I'm, I'm, I'm glad you're [SPEAKER_08]: But they ain't gonna get you to the world series this year. [SPEAKER_08]: So thank you and congrats to the Dodgers. [SPEAKER_08]: There you go.
[SPEAKER_08]: By the way, WNBA, I haven't seen anything on that either, but Asia Wilson, there's a reason she's a four-time MVP. [SPEAKER_08]: Last second shot. [SPEAKER_08]: If you missed the last second shot, you guys can view it. [SPEAKER_08]: We also included that clip in the news on Tap today for free. [SPEAKER_08]: She's, she is a freaking amazing all star. [SPEAKER_08]: She is just as a basketball player of any gender. [SPEAKER_08]: She absolutely kicks ass.
[SPEAKER_08]: It's pretty cool. [SPEAKER_08]: It's pretty cool. [SPEAKER_08]: I'm pretty sure the Vegas Aces are going to take a whole thing because that's, you know, they're good, they're good. [SPEAKER_08]: So see, we do entertainment, we do music, like we talked about, Dolly yesterday, and we do politics stuff because it is the politics. [SPEAKER_13]: I'm just glad Dolly's okay.
[SPEAKER_08]: I still don't understand how her sister didn't understand that putting out that would freak people out for the people who made missed yesterday's you know round here in the bar when we were talking about that what did Dolly sister. [SPEAKER_08]: This is her her youngest sister. [SPEAKER_13]: Yeah, Freda. [SPEAKER_13]: I believe is her name. [SPEAKER_13]: She's younger than She's she's not Stella.
[SPEAKER_13]: I think is also I think Stella's also younger but Freda is younger than Stella. [SPEAKER_13]: I think it's her youngest sister right and so she put out a prayers for my sister. [SPEAKER_08]: She's not doing well health-wise or something like that, just like a post on social media. [SPEAKER_13]: It was just so generically frightening that people rightfully sew, it's like, it's like with Betty White, you know, it's certain people you just don't freak us out about, man.
[SPEAKER_08]: Oh, I have to say this. [SPEAKER_08]: So Dick Van Dyke, who my wife is is my wife on her social media, when she was worried about Dolly, she was like, look, [SPEAKER_08]: 25, I got to deal with you. [SPEAKER_08]: Look, do not take Dolly. [SPEAKER_08]: If you need to take Bill Shattner, that's fine, but don't take out. [SPEAKER_08]: I was like, damn. [SPEAKER_13]: Don't take him either, by the way, a huge fan of his. [SPEAKER_08]: So, but that's it.
[SPEAKER_08]: I'm sure, look, you know, I guarantee that, you know, Bob and Mary overtrek politics would prefer that, you know, that did not happen either. [SPEAKER_08]: But any case, what one of those kind of people that we would like to not leave us is Dick [SPEAKER_08]: in December, which admittedly, when you get to be that old, every single day is, you know, heck, most of which should think of it that way. [SPEAKER_08]: Every single day is a blessing. [SPEAKER_08]: You're still here.
[SPEAKER_08]: Great. [SPEAKER_08]: You're going to hang out with the rest of us, which is pretty cool. [SPEAKER_08]: But Dick Van Dyke himself made a joke this week. [SPEAKER_13]: Well, he's funny. [SPEAKER_08]: He's just, he's generally great. [SPEAKER_13]: He's still dances. [SPEAKER_13]: He's in great shape now.
[SPEAKER_08]: he said I don't remember whether it was where what the outlet was but it came out that he said something the effect of uh... i'm going to be 100 if i knew is going to live this long i i would have treated myself better [SPEAKER_08]: which it's like, come on, dexterously mean. [SPEAKER_13]: He's I met him when I was young and he is a lovely human being to this day still. [SPEAKER_13]: And just in fact years ago, Lonnie and I went to a thing at Universal.
[SPEAKER_13]: at Universal Studios at the park up there and it was right by the Harry Potter thing they do this thing at Christmas time they light up the castle it's really really nice yeah they do like what the laser is like it's a whole thing and it's gorgeous and so we were there and then we look over and there's Dick Van Dyke just in there enjoying it [SPEAKER_08]: because he's a normal person too, even though he's dick freaking Van Dyke.
[SPEAKER_13]: I know, and I'm like, does anybody know who he is? [SPEAKER_13]: Good. [SPEAKER_13]: Like, because people were walking by and not realizing I'm like, that's Van Dyke. [SPEAKER_08]: Dick, can't die, man. [SPEAKER_08]: It's a, do you, he did, did you, I mean, did, did you, now, now here's the thing. [SPEAKER_13]: I didn't go up to him. [SPEAKER_13]: I didn't bother him because he was, and didn't want to bother him. [SPEAKER_08]: I can see and that and I understand that.
[SPEAKER_08]: That is kind of a polite thing. [SPEAKER_08]: You know, although admittedly you probably could have been like, hey, my mom says hi. [SPEAKER_13]: Oh, no. [SPEAKER_13]: I'm sure he would have been lovely about it. [SPEAKER_13]: In fact, I just, I told you earlier that because of his birthday, they're doing a thing for him. [SPEAKER_13]: I guess on AMC, I'm like, exactly sure. [SPEAKER_13]: And I had grab a sketch that he was on years ago. [SPEAKER_13]: Where?
[SPEAKER_13]: with my mom and literally in the sketch it's he's going to this uh to uh power like like the DWP here like his power bill his power was turned off right okay and so he goes and he goes why is my power off bubble but well you it's apparently you've been deceased he's like no I'm right here I'm alive they're like no no it says right here you're deceased so this is this is not the first time that he's been told that he's gone and he's not
[SPEAKER_13]: It was, it's a very funny sketch. [SPEAKER_13]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_08]: Rumors of his demise are greatly exaggerated. [SPEAKER_13]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_13]: And it's a very, very funny sketch. [SPEAKER_13]: So they want to, I think they're going to take the end of it because that's the funniest part of it. [SPEAKER_13]: But it's a very funny sketch. [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_08]: Okay. [SPEAKER_08]: I mean, if it's, if it's Dick Van Dyke and Carol. [SPEAKER_08]: I mean, come on.
[SPEAKER_13]: Oh, in Vicki, it's the three of them. [SPEAKER_08]: No, okay now now because okay your mom and Vicki all man Carolyn Vicki did the two of them You had being like stitches half the time when you were kid because especially I mean, you know hang around those two and and heart Corman and I mean, you know, that's
[SPEAKER_13]: Oh, my friend Laura Korman, Harvey's youngest, yeah, Katie's older, his youngest was she was on television here locally, the other day for what she's doing and her mom goes, that's lovely, she goes, yeah, who needs to be married to a famous guy when I'm on the TV for like two seconds. [SPEAKER_13]: I laughed at that, she thought it was funny because it's funny.
[SPEAKER_08]: everybody is everybody is a little bit famous in your neighborhood and your corner of the world in your work world wherever you happen to be but everybody here at the bar is just somebody here at the bar because you all are here at the bar and you all just people so if Mr. Van Dyke for whatever reason would be listening thank you very much for showing off but we got one more thing he is he's great [SPEAKER_08]: We'll be right back after we pay some bills at the politics bar.
[SPEAKER_08]: Last call for alcohol. [SPEAKER_08]: Hey, how are you here? [SPEAKER_08]: I know it's an awful dad joke. [SPEAKER_08]: I still like it no matter how many times I've told it. [SPEAKER_08]: And I've told it a lot of times over the years. [SPEAKER_08]: We are glad you guys are hanging out with us Thursday night here at the politics bar tomorrow night. [SPEAKER_08]: Of course, we got Karen. [SPEAKER_08]: We got Anita from True Blue Politics.
[SPEAKER_08]: And we got some great guests for next week as well. [SPEAKER_08]: You know, if you missed it, we mentioned it earlier in the show. [SPEAKER_08]: to miss anything, just subscribe to the politics bar, it's probably the podcast, you'll know, but won't list them for you here for next week. [SPEAKER_08]: You know, we've got some of the usual folks like Brooklyn, Dad, Defiant, John Fielo Singh's back and his normal Thursday spot.
[SPEAKER_08]: But we also happen to have people like Frangela and of course, Jared Rizzy and Julie Franchella look the best thing that you can do. [SPEAKER_08]: Bob Cesska will be back to, [SPEAKER_08]: Look, just subscribe, you get all the information, and you can hang out with us on your week nights as you're heading home, or as you're wrapping things up for the day, and we are very glad you guys do. [SPEAKER_13]: Amen. [SPEAKER_08]: Thanks for all of you coming and hanging out.
[SPEAKER_08]: I know, um, was it an hour one that we mentioned that all of this stupid asked stuff they're doing, throwing, trying to, well, uh, indict people they shouldn't be indicting? [SPEAKER_08]: Was that not our first hour we were talking about that tonight, Joe? [SPEAKER_13]: I think so, yeah. [SPEAKER_08]: It's been a while.
[SPEAKER_08]: Well, they did for for those people who missed it, they did also get an indictment today of New York Attorney General Latisha James, which is just stupid. [SPEAKER_13]: And this is based on nothing. [SPEAKER_13]: Her mortgage? [SPEAKER_13]: Is that it? [SPEAKER_08]: On a, like the Lisa Cutsch thing. [SPEAKER_13]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah, same, same basic thing as, as all of this crap, it comes from the FHA director, Bill Palty, who is basically a construction magnate.
[SPEAKER_08]: Behind a lot of construction and a lot of home things and stuff, he's basically taking information that he has access to because he's the FHA director's the federal housing agency director federal housing finance agency director technically is his position and he's taking information and using it to politically target Trump's enemies but didn't aren't there like at least three people in Donald's cabinet
[SPEAKER_08]: including Pulti himself who is committed the exact thing that they say is a crime, but it's not really a crime. [SPEAKER_08]: In normal situations when these kinds of things happen, what happens is is a bank or a government agency says, hey, there's an error on this particular thing, can you correct the error, the error is corrected, and nobody gets charged and nothing. [SPEAKER_08]: But he's trying to take a tiny grain of something that is a
[SPEAKER_13]: you didn't you didn't cross your tea or dot your eye how dare you or cross your eyes and dot your teas I like that one which I think is eyes are cross because he's just he's a hate I mean and and it's unless you're taking because basically that the problem is is if you have two residences and you're using them both to get quote a lower interest rate right I know I know that was the one that they tried to do at least a group
[SPEAKER_08]: right with with federal governor at least a cook but this is this is something along those same lines where supposedly you filled out this particular paperwork wrong and it's stupid they're they're calling it all what's bank fraud here's the thing um is the bank upset [SPEAKER_08]: No, the bank is not upset and the supposed case hit a stance to last month because federal agents and prosecutors, legitimate one, did not believe they had the evidence to secure a conviction.
[SPEAKER_08]: Basically, it's exactly like with Jim. [SPEAKER_08]: I can't like it, I think it was going James, Jim. [SPEAKER_13]: Call me. [SPEAKER_08]: Yes. [SPEAKER_08]: Hey, it's late. [SPEAKER_08]: I've had a few. [SPEAKER_08]: But it's exactly like it is with with Call me where they're not going to get in conviction. [SPEAKER_04]: No. [SPEAKER_08]: It's absolutely bull crap. [SPEAKER_08]: But because you know, how dare she try me for a crime and convict me 34 times of actual fraud.
[SPEAKER_08]: So now they're accusing her of fraud. [SPEAKER_08]: It's the Donald Trump version of, uh, was it rubber and glue? [SPEAKER_11]: Yeah, that's what that's that's that's all this is. [SPEAKER_08]: It's it's stupid, but what do you think it came from by the way, where what do you think this this remember folks they can in the phrase is that a grand jury can indict a ham sandwich because the standard for securing an indictment is virtually nothing.
[SPEAKER_13]: It's much lower than reasonable. [SPEAKER_08]: Way lower than to keep your conviction. [SPEAKER_13]: And it's only the prosecution that puts its case forwards. [SPEAKER_13]: You're only getting their information. [SPEAKER_08]: One side of the story, exactly. [SPEAKER_13]: And so, and they can. [SPEAKER_08]: Who do you think pushed? [SPEAKER_08]: Who do you think pushed this piece of garbage through today? [SPEAKER_13]: Ah, yeah.
[SPEAKER_13]: Was it our favorite girlfriend that looks like Hope Hicks? [SPEAKER_08]: Yes, yes. [SPEAKER_08]: Jody is right. [SPEAKER_08]: Lindsey Halligan, once again, the acting [SPEAKER_13]: She will not win any of these cases. [SPEAKER_08]: No, and she could, in fact, get this barred. [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah, because there is now a pattern. [SPEAKER_08]: There is now a pattern of her doing things that she knows or should know.
[SPEAKER_13]: Well, she's been told by other prosecutors in her office. [SPEAKER_08]: That's why so to get to go after Jim Komi, they've had to get people who were willing to work with Haligan. [SPEAKER_08]: Nobody in the Eastern District of Virginia was willing to go in on the charges against James Komi. [SPEAKER_08]: So they had to find somebody from South Carolina and there are conflicting reports that these people may not have really entirely knew what they were getting into.
[SPEAKER_08]: So they, and in theory, they can withdraw if they want to. [SPEAKER_13]: They might, you know, well, I mean, I believe in the iron of Trump, but I listen to a lovely podcast called Hashtag sisters in law with Joe Banks and Bart McWade and Joyce fans. [SPEAKER_08]: Bart, what we've had here, yeah. [SPEAKER_13]: And Kimberly, I can store. [SPEAKER_13]: I listen to that show. [SPEAKER_13]: And both Bart McWade and Joyce fans worked for the DOJ.
[SPEAKER_13]: Um, Barb is Michigan, Joyce is down south, um, but, uh, I know that I know that, um, um, Glenn, we're for East India. [SPEAKER_13]: He did, he did. [SPEAKER_13]: And, but they both have said, look, you don't bring a case unless you figure out that it's going to go to conviction and can withstand any appeals.
[SPEAKER_13]: That's, [SPEAKER_13]: what the DOJ that's the standard is that's the standard DOJ for bringing a case is that you can you have all the stuff you can prove it like 99% true and it will withstand appeals that's the thing is appeals is the concern that these lawyers usually have it's like I might be able to get a conviction but how will it withstand an appeal because most people will appeal conviction because that's your right to do that.
[SPEAKER_08]: right and so especially if it's a if it's a wrong conviction but like like with the Comi case there's nothing there there's absolutely nothing and you've got you know lightweight Lindsey Halligan on one side and you've got Fitzgerald representing Colmy on the other side two of you know DOJ's baddest ass. [SPEAKER_13]: Well and then leticia james herself is an amazing attorney. [SPEAKER_13]: Exactly.
[SPEAKER_13]: She's gonna hire amazing attorney so it's like [SPEAKER_08]: People forget the attorney generals of states, especially states like New York and New Jersey, they have a long history of dealing with organized crime and not just the mob. [SPEAKER_08]: I mean, they've also got Yakuza, they've got, they deal with all kinds of crime, including the current, well, it's questionable about the current mayor of New York, who is not running anymore. [SPEAKER_08]: But there are questions there.
[SPEAKER_08]: We'll just build that. [SPEAKER_08]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_08]: But they deal with people who are very, very serious at that point. [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_08]: So if you're the ageie of a state like New York, or California. [SPEAKER_13]: Hi, Kamala, you're my ageie. [SPEAKER_08]: Illinois, right, exactly. [SPEAKER_08]: You're going to know your stuff. [SPEAKER_08]: You're, you're not going to be a lightweight.
[SPEAKER_08]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_08]: And so you got the tisha james on one side versus the linty howl again. [SPEAKER_08]: I mean, they're not going to get a conviction. [SPEAKER_13]: No. [SPEAKER_08]: It's going to waste resources. [SPEAKER_13]: It's stupid. [SPEAKER_13]: It's a waste of our tax dollars.
[SPEAKER_08]: Yep, and in fact actually with this particular one, with them trying to go out for Latisha James, it's a waste of taxpayer dollars on two levels, because they're wasting the federal taxpayer dollars, and for those people who live in New York, they're also wasting your state tax payer dollars. [SPEAKER_13]: It's just, it's, it's, hi, Doge, where are you? [SPEAKER_13]: Hello. [SPEAKER_08]: Mm-hmm, yeah, exactly.
[SPEAKER_08]: they don't give a damn about that they don't it's that they want they want the fact that and look we have to announce the news because it is the news but they want the news to get out there and say oh well see it's it's like it's like what Trump did with Biden and Ukraine trying to say just you know just accuse him of doing something illegal it's it's not that he has to actually have done anything illegal or that it can be proven it just has to be the accusation
[SPEAKER_08]: But I think that there are an awful lot more people who are rising up to that, especially because if it's coming, if the accusations are coming from Trump, then everybody knows politically motivated. [SPEAKER_08]: Yes. [SPEAKER_08]: If there's nothing, if there's, there's probably no there there. [SPEAKER_13]: When it came out, I believe it was today that yes, he did not mean to publicly put out that thing to Pam Bondi.
[SPEAKER_13]: He meant it as, and by the way, is he, he thought it was, he thought wow. [SPEAKER_08]: God, there's that, too. [SPEAKER_08]: So he thought it was a private message to pay him on his social, I mean, is he always not secure platform? [SPEAKER_13]: It's he using that to talk to people in his government. [SPEAKER_08]: Clearly, clearly he is using it to DM people.
[SPEAKER_08]: And you can bet that if foreign intelligence agencies around the world have all tapped into his direct DMs, of course, you can bet that they've tapped in the direct DMs of pretty much anybody who is on Trump staff who would talk to him. [SPEAKER_08]: because obviously that's how they communicate or they try to communicate through signal. [SPEAKER_13]: Well, at least that's someone encrypted. [SPEAKER_13]: I mean, yeah, it's a bit encrypted, but truth central is not.
[SPEAKER_08]: Nope. [SPEAKER_08]: Nope. [SPEAKER_08]: That is. [SPEAKER_13]: I mean, you might as well just use y'all who or hotmail or, you know, put her on a billboard. [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_08]: I'd fly behind a plane. [SPEAKER_13]: These people. [SPEAKER_08]: Here are the nuclear codes. [SPEAKER_08]: Hope you got them safe. [SPEAKER_13]: Half-ashism is right, man, because these guys are just at least single-head sums. [SPEAKER_13]: It's like, like, what's up?
[SPEAKER_13]: At least that disappears. [SPEAKER_08]: Uh-huh. [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah, no, this is Donnie doesn't care. [SPEAKER_08]: It's in front of them. [SPEAKER_08]: This is what I use. [SPEAKER_08]: You guys clean up after me. [SPEAKER_08]: Which is what mob bosses do.
[SPEAKER_08]: Yes. [SPEAKER_08]: I'm going to do it my way and you clean up the mess, which is, [SPEAKER_08]: It's hubris hubris is arrogance beyond it's it's the it's the arrogance of You know, I don't think that the rules apply to me exactly and when you have as much power as somebody like Donald is it's it's it's what I've termed before you guys have heard me say it It's terminal stupidity
[SPEAKER_08]: because it's, you know, thinking that they do what they don't know and they don't care and they don't think they have to care. [SPEAKER_08]: In this case, Donald is, you know, I don't have to care. [SPEAKER_08]: I mean, I'm the president. [SPEAKER_08]: I'm president Trump, whatever they do. [SPEAKER_13]: Yeah, he's just, yeah. [SPEAKER_13]: I look forward to the time when we don't have to talk about him anymore. [SPEAKER_08]: Oh yeah, that would be my reaction when that happens.
[SPEAKER_13]: You know, when we have a present, Fritzker, you know, somebody like that. [SPEAKER_08]: I would, I'd be fine with that, President Fritzker is, is it, I would be good with that. [SPEAKER_08]: I'm more worried about the, uh, the, the current racers, though, uh, they had a, uh, the, the last debates. [SPEAKER_08]: Yes. [SPEAKER_08]: In the New Jersey's Governor race, Governor race, last, now, uh, thankfully. [SPEAKER_13]: She still up, though, isn't she?
[SPEAKER_08]: Yep. [SPEAKER_08]: She's up, uh, she's up. [SPEAKER_08]: Oh. [SPEAKER_08]: there's one in Virginia so the the right wing media has been trying to say oh well Jay Jones who is running for attorney general Virginia he he texted some nasty things about oh man now wish those guys were you know saying saying some nasty things about he wished ill on somebody and then somebody
[SPEAKER_08]: I don't know who but they gave it to me and I put it on social media last night that there's a 20 22 story about the guy who's currently the AG here for public and jackass here in Virginia and he basically did the same thing, but the right way media around the story and go the Democrats did it, Democrats should get out of the race, shut up. [SPEAKER_08]: Democrats didn't do anything different than the Republican did. [SPEAKER_08]: And in fact, the Democrats are going to win.
[SPEAKER_08]: They win if we vote for them. [SPEAKER_08]: And if you are smart, you will vote for every single Democrat across the board. [SPEAKER_13]: We have to survive. [SPEAKER_08]: Mm-hmm. [SPEAKER_08]: Kind of do it, guys. [SPEAKER_08]: That's just that's just our recommendation. [SPEAKER_08]: So, but tomorrow is Friday.
[SPEAKER_08]: We will have some more political news, we will have some more entertainment news, and we will have Karen and Anita, we will get good solid update from Karenville. [SPEAKER_08]: What's going on in Chicago at the Broadview Center, and hopefully Anita will have a little bit of update as far as what's going on, some things down in Texas with that. [SPEAKER_08]: best day for you to do get some rest.
[SPEAKER_08]: You know if you want to buy some gear you can do that at the politics bar.com store. [SPEAKER_08]: So you can do that. [SPEAKER_08]: And then tomorrow, Jody and I and you will be back. [SPEAKER_08]: We'll do this again when we'll finish the week's straw. [SPEAKER_08]: Let's just say that. [SPEAKER_13]: Amen. [SPEAKER_08]: All right, get yourself some sleep. [SPEAKER_08]: Jody and I will see you here tomorrow night at the politics bar.
