[SPEAKER_04]: It is right under the first round. [SPEAKER_04]: We have a little discount button right there. [SPEAKER_04]: Nice. [SPEAKER_04]: And we'll put the discount, we'll put the discount out on our social media as well, but it's a birthday gift to everybody.

[SPEAKER_04]: So if you were newing for the month, that's fine. [SPEAKER_04]: If you're newing annually, that's fine. [SPEAKER_04]: I mean, it's basically it's it's birthday gift for everybody who's subscribing. [SPEAKER_04]: So if you're not subscribing and you still want the gift, I mean, you could do that. [SPEAKER_04]: It's easy. [SPEAKER_04]: Without the discount, it is $6 a month. [SPEAKER_04]: That's about 50 a week. [SPEAKER_04]: And then we're even giving, it's a 10% discount.

[SPEAKER_04]: So you know, whatever you do, there you go. [SPEAKER_04]: So pink, make life easy. [SPEAKER_08]: For new and existing customers, subscribers, we love you all. [SPEAKER_08]: Because we're not going to be like a phone company and just give it to new people. [SPEAKER_04]: I always hate that. [SPEAKER_04]: I do too. [SPEAKER_08]: It's like, I've been a customer of yours for how long and then you're giving somebody else this huge discount.

[SPEAKER_04]: It's like that that meme where the guy is walking with his girlfriend, but his heads turned around and just looking at the other girl, you know, like really new and you've been really, really. [SPEAKER_04]: Uh-huh. [SPEAKER_04]: Anyway, wait. [SPEAKER_04]: that guy clearly could do better. [SPEAKER_04]: We all couldn't do better. [SPEAKER_04]: I got into a little discussion today online with a friend park on the way. [SPEAKER_04]: I did not have the the time.

[SPEAKER_04]: I think she was busy were juggling stuff, but I was like, we got to get her back in here. [SPEAKER_04]: But there's this, there has been a lot of slamming of President Obama, even though the interview with Colbert [SPEAKER_04]: Well, well, we'll talk about that, but it's something that is on my mind today. [SPEAKER_04]: And I definitely should remind me later. [SPEAKER_04]: I want to talk about that clearly.

[SPEAKER_04]: We can do a little bit better with the news and it's stupid ass war. [SPEAKER_04]: Oh my god. [SPEAKER_04]: First round of the news on tap today, Trump's stupid Iran war rolls on. [SPEAKER_04]: So the US and Iran are still exploring a 30 day deal during which they can write an actual deal. [SPEAKER_04]: So it's the pastiche of a notion of a deal. [SPEAKER_08]: Well, I mean, what they, what did Marco Rubio basically say the other day? [SPEAKER_08]: We just need the straight open.

[SPEAKER_08]: It was! [SPEAKER_04]: Mm-hmm. [SPEAKER_04]: Judd is right. [SPEAKER_04]: It was open before you started all this stupid ass stuff.

[SPEAKER_04]: You freaking moron, but that's, uh, look at the, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh uh, uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh

[SPEAKER_04]: We, we understand, we're the ones that coined the term half fascism here. [SPEAKER_04]: It is half-assed. [SPEAKER_04]: It is attempted fascism. [SPEAKER_04]: They are very good at it. [SPEAKER_04]: Thank God. [SPEAKER_04]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_04]: True. [SPEAKER_04]: But. [SPEAKER_04]: So like yesterday, uh, when was it yesterday day before when when Trump did a U-turn on that whole, um, uh, project freedom, we're going to escort the ship.

[SPEAKER_08]: It was Tuesday night because he started it Sunday and then by Tuesday, he talked out. [SPEAKER_08]: So because it was Taco Tuesday. [SPEAKER_04]: Oh, that's right. [SPEAKER_04]: See, I now you're mind me now. [SPEAKER_04]: I'm okay. [SPEAKER_04]: So yes. [SPEAKER_04]: Of course, the actual story came out a little while later. [SPEAKER_04]: We happen to have that in the news on tap. [SPEAKER_04]: It's a third story down in the first round of updates from Middle East.

[SPEAKER_04]: So Trump's abrupt U-turn on his escort plan came after Saudi Arabia's suspended U.S. military visibility to use its bases and airspace to carry out the operation. [SPEAKER_04]: Full story basically is Iran says we're willing [SPEAKER_04]: to do and you have to talk more and and to do a deal, which is what they've been saying all along.

[SPEAKER_04]: But we're not going to do it with you guys having your military ships go through the streets or moves and possibly cause a military incident. [SPEAKER_04]: So Iran called Pakistan and said, here's the deal. [SPEAKER_04]: This is what we want. [SPEAKER_04]: Pakistan called Saudi Arabia and said, OK, here's the deal. [SPEAKER_04]: This is what we want. [SPEAKER_04]: Saudi Arabia had one of two ways to go about it.

[SPEAKER_04]: They could have gently suggested it to the United States that this is what they heard from their friends in Pakistan who heard from their friends in Iran. [SPEAKER_04]: Or they could say, hey, Donnie, this is what's going to happen. [SPEAKER_04]: Get it? [SPEAKER_04]: they chose option number two. [SPEAKER_08]: Of course, because MBS has stuff on Donald just like Russia just like Iran, just like China, I mean.

[SPEAKER_04]: But MBS is, I remember I said this while back, it is interesting to me that the things that we say here at the bar, and I say stuff and then people are like, well, who do how are you and where do you know this stuff? [SPEAKER_04]: And I'm like, well, I can't tell you where I know this stuff and I'm somebody who's been doing this kind of thing for 30 some years. [SPEAKER_04]: So that's who.

[SPEAKER_04]: The dealing and information is kind of my thing has been professionally for literally more than half my life. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: So, um, and as far as an adult, pretty much most of my adult life. [SPEAKER_04]: Mm-hmm. [SPEAKER_04]: So, I said that that MBS was tired of this crap. [SPEAKER_04]: That MBS is patients is pretty much done. [SPEAKER_04]: And sure enough, that's actually why Donald decided to go, you know, we're not doing that.

[SPEAKER_04]: But of course, he didn't say any of that because Donald will never ever let anybody. [SPEAKER_04]: And none of the turds around him, you can't show that the emperor has no clothes, which I'm sorry. [SPEAKER_04]: Sorry if I put that image in your head, that's just really, did you have to say that? [SPEAKER_08]: Didn't meet, well, that's the kid's story. [SPEAKER_04]: I mean, you know me with his testicles that are down in his knees, I mean, there's that. [SPEAKER_08]: It's so true.

[SPEAKER_08]: He's 80. [SPEAKER_04]: It's so true. [SPEAKER_04]: But look, the whole thing is, Donald is not the monster that, I mean, he's a monster, but he doesn't have the kind of, you know, I'm a god king. [SPEAKER_04]: You're not a douchebag. [SPEAKER_04]: You have control of [SPEAKER_04]: Basically, a little more than half of the government right now. [SPEAKER_04]: But you barely have control of the house. [SPEAKER_04]: You barely have control of the Senate.

[SPEAKER_04]: Yes, technically, you shove through all your stuff in the stupid illegitimate Supreme Court. [SPEAKER_04]: And we got to talk about that, too. [SPEAKER_04]: Balls and strikes, my ass. [SPEAKER_04]: Speaking of all. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Just say, in Balls and strikes, you weren't talking to the other stuff. [SPEAKER_04]: We didn't talk baseball basketball there. [SPEAKER_08]: I used to technical term. [SPEAKER_04]: Um, don't it? [SPEAKER_08]: I used testicles.

[SPEAKER_04]: This is true. [SPEAKER_04]: This is true. [SPEAKER_04]: Anyway, but look Donald's not all powerful and and people aren't doing what it is real is they struck by bay roots last night for the first time since the 11 on signal. [SPEAKER_04]: Remember diplomatically. [SPEAKER_04]: It's still a ceasefire. [SPEAKER_04]: whether that will hold, who the hell knows?

[SPEAKER_04]: And even more, so the CIA, there's a new report that leaked out, contrary to the Trump regime claims, the new CIA report shows that Iran can, in fact, withstand a US blockade, they could do that for another two to four months. [SPEAKER_04]: You know, who couldn't withstand that kind of a blockade? [SPEAKER_04]: Joe, he's like me. [SPEAKER_04]: Like, try, try everybody else. [SPEAKER_04]: Us, most of the world, and China.

[SPEAKER_04]: Remember, I have been saying that China has had it up to here too? [SPEAKER_04]: And sure enough, there's more news, we didn't get a piece in the news on tap, but I have seen and heard more stuff on CNN on MS now on NBC streamer that said, Oh yeah, China's wanting to get this stuff cleaned up too before the, because they don't want to go into this next week going Donnie Donnie. [SPEAKER_04]: What are you doing? [SPEAKER_04]: What are you doing?

[SPEAKER_04]: So, this is not when we talk to you guys, while I'm telling you stuff here, what I'm telling you folks people eat stuff here at the bar. [SPEAKER_04]: I mean, I'm telling you what I can tell you. [SPEAKER_04]: But I'm not just floating it go. [SPEAKER_04]: Hey, I'm just blowing smoke up your butt. [SPEAKER_04]: You don't do that here. [SPEAKER_04]: It's not what we do. [SPEAKER_04]: Not even close. [SPEAKER_04]: The rest of the world is tired of this crap.

[SPEAKER_04]: And everybody else says, even if a Ron could hold out, the rest of the world can't. [SPEAKER_04]: And everybody else is sick and tired of this. [SPEAKER_04]: So they are all saying, we could do better. [SPEAKER_04]: How convenient. [SPEAKER_02]: Hmm. [SPEAKER_02]: Yep. [SPEAKER_04]: I went back to it today. [SPEAKER_04]: It has been in my mind a lot. [SPEAKER_04]: It was on the shirt that I wore yesterday. [SPEAKER_04]: Well, we had Bobman.

[SPEAKER_04]: The cat Abigail Fraes from her campaign. [SPEAKER_04]: What if we didn't suck? [SPEAKER_04]: That isn't to say. [SPEAKER_04]: That isn't to say that there are only two positions. [SPEAKER_04]: Everything is great and everything sucks. [SPEAKER_04]: Because somehow that seems to be the position of a whole lot of people. [SPEAKER_04]: And I'm like, do you do gray at all? [SPEAKER_04]: Do you understand colors?

[SPEAKER_04]: Do you understand everything between, I can't see it's so dark, I can't see it. [SPEAKER_04]: Oh my God, it's so bright, I can't see. [SPEAKER_04]: Do you understand that there's these things called gradients, folks? [SPEAKER_04]: Some of you do, I think. [SPEAKER_04]: We can do better.

[SPEAKER_04]: And just because something [SPEAKER_04]: sucks doesn't mean that that's the end point of suckage right this regime under Trump sucks it could be worse they could be competent fashion right now they could be competent at their evil right we're lucky that they're not right but i'm saying it also could be better what if it sucked less yeah democratic party some folks all democratic party

[SPEAKER_04]: But then they brag well, you know, areas like New York City or fantastic, see it's so much better living in New York City than is the red areas. [SPEAKER_04]: Anybody remember anybody here in the bar, remember what Mayor M. Danny ran on? [SPEAKER_04]: Anybody? [SPEAKER_04]: Anybody? [SPEAKER_04]: Affordability. [SPEAKER_04]: Mm-hmm. [SPEAKER_04]: Accountability. [SPEAKER_04]: Basically saying New York City is great.

[SPEAKER_08]: but we could do better and he's already doing better because he has a city council that's willing to work with him which is helpful for him because when you make these kind of promises you better hope that the people that actually pass the bills [SPEAKER_08]: do what you want to do. [SPEAKER_04]: Governor Hockel got this came out to I saw it at least I saw it after we put the stuff out from the news on tap today.

[SPEAKER_04]: Governor Hockel put out her budget and it actually has the Pita tear tax. [SPEAKER_04]: Good for her. [SPEAKER_04]: The tax on the the rich people. [SPEAKER_04]: Lend Annie worked with her. [SPEAKER_04]: She said she wasn't going to do it at first and she did. [SPEAKER_04]: Mm-hmm. [SPEAKER_04]: That's better. [SPEAKER_04]: Now for anybody who goes, well, you're just praising her. [SPEAKER_04]: No. [SPEAKER_04]: Better does not mean best.

[SPEAKER_04]: No. [SPEAKER_08]: worst does not mean worst right there's these things called gradients so low between here and there I mean the fact that all the billionaires are so angry with the potential billionaires tax here in California and the the Pieter tax in in New York it's like I'm getting out then find get out go bye go [SPEAKER_08]: They, they already, um, they don't pay taxes at that point. [SPEAKER_08]: So, I mean, what's the point? [SPEAKER_08]: They're not paying taxes anyway.

[SPEAKER_08]: So, move. [SPEAKER_04]: But there, there are places. [SPEAKER_04]: Just good Boston. [SPEAKER_04]: Mayor Wu, put in a tax on the ultra rich folks. [SPEAKER_04]: And they're still there. [SPEAKER_04]: Guess what? [SPEAKER_04]: There's more rich folks now in Boston. [SPEAKER_08]: Because their kids can go to school and they get better services and things are better for everybody when you are taxed properly. [SPEAKER_04]: See, you can do better, but guess what?

[SPEAKER_04]: Mayor Wooster doesn't say that things are, up, that's it, we did better. [SPEAKER_04]: That's good, that is the best that we can do. [SPEAKER_04]: No, she's still trying to make folks do better. [SPEAKER_04]: So these people, when somebody says, well, it's worse. [SPEAKER_04]: Well, it could be worse. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, it's supposed to be right. [SPEAKER_04]: It's supposed to be good in doors, yes.

[SPEAKER_04]: Or it could be better, but just because something is better doesn't make it fast and just because something is worse doesn't make it worse. [SPEAKER_04]: Right. [SPEAKER_04]: Jesus. [SPEAKER_04]: Ethan. [SPEAKER_08]: I'm with you. [SPEAKER_04]: I know, but it drives me nuts that that happens to be the default for an awful lot of people. [SPEAKER_04]: When you say something like, well, Governor Hockel did this thing. [SPEAKER_04]: We're gonna marry my mom, Donnie.

[SPEAKER_04]: Well, fine. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, she wanted a corporate Democrats. [SPEAKER_04]: I'm shut up. [SPEAKER_04]: She did something good. [SPEAKER_04]: Give credit where do and give criticism too. [SPEAKER_04]: You can do this, folks. [SPEAKER_04]: There's a whole lot of gradients between dark and light. [SPEAKER_04]: Mm-hmm. [SPEAKER_04]: This is how we get better. [SPEAKER_04]: Instead of just, you know, constantly playing the snarky card. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I agree.

[SPEAKER_04]: Stuff the snarky card back in the box and let's try to make things better. [SPEAKER_04]: That's, let's start there. [SPEAKER_04]: Okay? [SPEAKER_04]: Okay, I'm good, I'm good, I'm sorry. [SPEAKER_04]: Just a little one of those, one of those days where you're just like, Jesus, this stupid is so strong in the news today. [SPEAKER_04]: And I just know we can do better than this.

[SPEAKER_04]: Ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah [SPEAKER_04]: I don't know what you want to call it, urban, maybe cosmopolitan, can I?

[SPEAKER_04]: Ish, ish, freshen your drink and come on back. [SPEAKER_04]: It's Thursday night, here at the politics bar. [SPEAKER_07]: We'll be right back after we pay some bills at the politics bar. [SPEAKER_04]: It's Thursday night already. [SPEAKER_02]: All right. [SPEAKER_04]: Hi, no crazy week, right? [SPEAKER_04]: Thursday night here at Paltag to our thank you very much.

[SPEAKER_04]: For hanging out with us from wherever you happen to be, thank you to everybody who reaches out on the barline 2136777258. [SPEAKER_04]: That's 213677758 or 213677 salt. [SPEAKER_04]: I like in your Margarine. [SPEAKER_04]: Thanks if you reach out on the social media platforms as well. [SPEAKER_04]: On Blue Sky or Threads, Instagram, Facebook, [SPEAKER_04]: All ticks bar, which is where you are at tonight. [SPEAKER_04]: So, thanks.

[SPEAKER_04]: We appreciate you guys coming by and hanging out with us. [SPEAKER_04]: Tom, our friend Tom Schafer, by the way. [SPEAKER_04]: The other blue sky corner of the bar here says that Marco Rubio has so many jobs now. [SPEAKER_04]: You'd think he was a character from the Heyman sketch of Inliving Colour, which [SPEAKER_08]: I got some stuff from away gone by. [SPEAKER_04]: Oh, look, even included a clip of that. [SPEAKER_04]: I all see if I can now repost that. [SPEAKER_04]: That's fun.

[SPEAKER_04]: Our bar socials. [SPEAKER_04]: I think he sent it to my personal one. [SPEAKER_08]: But I love that show. [SPEAKER_08]: I was living color with such a great television show. [SPEAKER_08]: It really was. [SPEAKER_08]: It was ahead of its time. [SPEAKER_08]: It was very funny. [SPEAKER_04]: It was great. [SPEAKER_04]: I really good. [SPEAKER_04]: I loved that. [SPEAKER_04]: I love the Arsenio Hall show back when back when, you know, to me, Fox was not evil.

[SPEAKER_08]: No, they were at the, they were flat. [SPEAKER_08]: I mean, married with children, the Simpsons, Tracy. [SPEAKER_04]: Oh, man. [SPEAKER_08]: I mean, they started with, and they took risks. [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah, like good ones too. [SPEAKER_04]: When you're trying to make things better, that's one of the things you have to do is take risks. [SPEAKER_04]: When you're trying to get, you know, keep doing the same old crap you've been doing because hey, why not?

[SPEAKER_04]: You don't, and it is costly to say the least. [SPEAKER_04]: Speaking of costly, in the first round of the news on tap, the cost of war today section, increasing cost of war, gas prices, top $4.50, nationally for the first time since July, 2022, and we were coming out of the pandemic still. [SPEAKER_04]: Only three states remain below $4.00.

[SPEAKER_04]: uh... meanwhile trumps friends in big oil uh... at shell report nearly seven billion dollars in profit after oil prices searched see so my question is so gas oil is but what hundred twelve dollars a barrel or some of them might be uh... it's somewhere around there right now yeah okay so [SPEAKER_04]: actually it's kind of it's it's been fascinating back and forth between about 110 and about 75.

[SPEAKER_04]: It depends on whether they're feeling positive that there's going to be a deal or whether they go a crap not again. [SPEAKER_08]: So the question that I have to these guys that are buying it wholesale because the the oil then is wholesale and then they refine it so it costs money to refine. [SPEAKER_08]: I get that and they're making better profits than they should be. [SPEAKER_04]: But Jillians.

[SPEAKER_04]: Yes, that's why we want things that like, you know, Senator Warren has said before, I think Senator Sanders has joined this, too, about taxes that when companies make a little too much money when they're profiting a little bit too much on the the pain of everyone's taxes or yeah, thank you. [SPEAKER_04]: That's what I was looking for. [SPEAKER_04]: Win fall. [SPEAKER_04]: Sorry, Donald Trump being against wind may be kind of knock that out of my head anyway.

[SPEAKER_04]: But yes, windfall taxes, which it would be great if we did more windfall to that would be another way we could do things. [SPEAKER_04]: It would stop price gouging. [SPEAKER_04]: Hmm. [SPEAKER_04]: Can't wait a minute. [SPEAKER_04]: Tony, who was, who was saying that she would, all right, the black woman. [SPEAKER_08]: Hmm. [SPEAKER_04]: Kamala Harris.

[SPEAKER_08]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, actually, there's a nice black woman at the grocery store in my neighborhood Behind the counter. [SPEAKER_04]: I was like, how you doing? [SPEAKER_04]: She's a calm tire long day. [SPEAKER_04]: There's a me too. [SPEAKER_04]: She says, oh, this is what you've been to sell stupid news.

[SPEAKER_04]: She says, oh, yeah I said, man, you know, it's I just think's what have been so much better if all the good have done is vote for the damn black woman She just looks at me. [SPEAKER_04]: She goes [SPEAKER_04]: I like you. [SPEAKER_04]: You're one of those white boys. [SPEAKER_04]: Yes, ma'am. [SPEAKER_04]: I understand. [SPEAKER_04]: Black women are, indeed, the early warning system and the solution to, oh, speaking of which I, you know, who I woke up with this morning, Jodie.

[SPEAKER_04]: I had I had Francis and one ear and in. [SPEAKER_08]: I heard them. [SPEAKER_04]: Well, you know, Frangela was on Richard's show, by the way. [SPEAKER_04]: I WCPT and A.M. And we're going to be on Richard's show tomorrow. [SPEAKER_04]: Ooh, yeah, that's, and then Frangela's going to be here later this month. [SPEAKER_04]: I saw in the 26th. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, look at that. [SPEAKER_04]: See, we're all kind of connected.

[SPEAKER_04]: But yeah, I woke up with Frangela my ears today, so that was nice. [SPEAKER_04]: That was nice. [SPEAKER_08]: It was nice to hear them. [SPEAKER_04]: Isn't it? [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, but it was one of the things where [SPEAKER_04]: I know that voice and then it actually wakes up and it says now you're awake and Francis is in your ear. [SPEAKER_08]: I have a feeling they pre-recorded that.

[SPEAKER_08]: I don't know, but I know that when he interviewed Dana, he definitely reported that so well. [SPEAKER_04]: And all the fans. [SPEAKER_08]: I mean, it was five a, that even five a.m. Our time, and they live here. [SPEAKER_04]: This is true. [SPEAKER_04]: This is true. [SPEAKER_04]: Look, we can do a lot of things in pre-recording, helps things go better sometimes. [SPEAKER_04]: I was surprised at how well Rubio did today over with the Pope.

[SPEAKER_04]: So Rubio is over with Pope Bob over in Italy, and he didn't make a complete asset [SPEAKER_04]: you know, they swapped gifts, whatever. [SPEAKER_04]: There isn't anything coming out of it that seems to be bad. [SPEAKER_04]: Rubio is is, he's not a Catholic that's undercutting the Pope like J.D. [SPEAKER_04]: Vance. [SPEAKER_04]: He's actually a Catholic that's kind of going along with the Pope for the most part. [SPEAKER_04]: So we'll see. [SPEAKER_04]: I'm not.

[SPEAKER_08]: I mean, I would imagine if you're a practicing Catholic and you get to meet. [SPEAKER_04]: the Pope. [SPEAKER_04]: The head of your religion. [SPEAKER_08]: That would be a humbling experience. [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_08]: And the fact that with this Pope, we don't need an English translator because he's from Chicago. [SPEAKER_08]: So they can speak freely. [SPEAKER_08]: It's like a slice. [SPEAKER_08]: I like a deep dish. [SPEAKER_08]: What?

[SPEAKER_07]: and cracker crust, cracker crust. [SPEAKER_08]: And so, but I mean, I remember this story was told to me when my parents were in Italy, in Rome. [SPEAKER_08]: Right. [SPEAKER_08]: When Kerry was too... No, Mom was pregnant with me, so she was out to her pregnant. [SPEAKER_04]: And Kerry... You were there, kind of. [SPEAKER_08]: I don't remember. [SPEAKER_08]: I was in Udoro, but so she was, and my mom and dad hired a woman to be carries baby nurse, basically.

[SPEAKER_08]: She was kind of like the nanny. [SPEAKER_08]: And D.D. [SPEAKER_08]: was God-restress all first off the softest fingers. [SPEAKER_08]: Anyway, three nice lady, I miss her. [SPEAKER_08]: She, they went near the Vatican and they got to go in, you know, and then she saw the Pope's elevator.

[SPEAKER_08]: Oh yeah, and it was open and it was behind the velvet rope and all this stuff and he carry was a super blonde kid So all the southern Italians were like look at her because she's super blonde, right? [SPEAKER_08]: Right, and so they already liked the little baby girl that was that blonde and she was two and a half-three And you just are like haul asked for the elevator. [SPEAKER_08]: She's three. [SPEAKER_08]: It was DD.

[SPEAKER_08]: She picked her up And ran grab some holy water [SPEAKER_08]: Dipped in some holy water, ran to the elevator, sat in it, and blessed carry in the elevator. [SPEAKER_05]: Wow. [SPEAKER_08]: And then ran out, and luckily nobody got arrested. [SPEAKER_08]: Because he was a devout Christian. [SPEAKER_08]: She was in a Catholic, but she was a devout Christian. [SPEAKER_08]: And she went to church every Sunday.

[SPEAKER_08]: Okay. [SPEAKER_08]: And I went to church with her once, and it was a lovely Baptist church in Malibu. [SPEAKER_08]: I was like, I don't like church. [SPEAKER_08]: Because I was used to Catholic churches.

[SPEAKER_04]: everybody's going to die it was fun I'll have to I'll have to tell you that that that story someday but yeah I mean it was lovely and it was it was small it was it was I had the best time like I like this church why do I have to go to the other one party church right exactly some some will look it rubio I don't know these partying but you know he's doing okay we actually we have a picture of him in the Pope in the news collage today which wasn't too bad um

[SPEAKER_04]: You know, if Rubio didn't have so many damn hats like DJ Tom Schafer said, he's got he's just and of course Rubio's just because I'm saying the Rubio is doing [SPEAKER_04]: diplomatic relations, I guess is the word that you could just because he's the secretary's supposed to do this, but it's his job. [SPEAKER_04]: It doesn't mean that I like him. [SPEAKER_04]: It doesn't mean that see this is that's where my head's bases today.

[SPEAKER_04]: Let's let's jump down to the second second round because we can go a little bit further in this. [SPEAKER_04]: So in the second round of the return of Confederacy, the Tennessee Republicans unveiled their new congressional map that carved up the one remaining blackhouse district and then they voted on it in the house today in Tennessee just ran that second right through the entire state now is red. [SPEAKER_04]: Well, that's what they're going to try to do.

[SPEAKER_04]: John Nichols has a great piece on it about Republicans, Jim Crow, Jerry Mandarin, ripping up Memphis, which is just stupid about this stuff. [SPEAKER_04]: Yes, this is the Confederacy rising again. [SPEAKER_04]: It is. [SPEAKER_04]: This is, they, they were never fully taken care of. [SPEAKER_08]: They were never fully punished for what they did.

[SPEAKER_04]: Yes. [SPEAKER_08]: I mean, people were kicked out of the Senate, people kicked out of the house at the time and make sure things that they had to pay fines and fees and whatever. [SPEAKER_04]: But yes, they were not punished enough. [SPEAKER_04]: No. [SPEAKER_04]: No. [SPEAKER_04]: No. [SPEAKER_04]: No. [SPEAKER_04]: No. [SPEAKER_04]: No. [SPEAKER_04]: No. [SPEAKER_04]: No. [SPEAKER_04]: No. [SPEAKER_04]: No. [SPEAKER_04]: No. [SPEAKER_04]: No.

[UNKNOWN]: No. [UNKNOWN]: No. [UNKNOWN]: No. [UNKNOWN]: No. [SPEAKER_04]: When somebody like me says that they need to be sermonized, I am not actually advocating what General Sherman did. [SPEAKER_04]: Now, but I've mentioned it here before to different guests that we've had in the bar that a friend of mine who grew up on the floor to Georgia line, um, he's as liberal as anybody. [SPEAKER_04]: But you mentioned General Sherman, and it still gets his hackles up.

[SPEAKER_04]: He obviously was not a live back then. [SPEAKER_04]: But it was such a drastic event for that region that it is in the collective memory of everybody who lives in that region. [SPEAKER_04]: How stark it was.

[SPEAKER_04]: And that kind of collective memory says, if you go near things, like the Confederacy, like the racism, [SPEAKER_04]: You damn well better be ready to have every damn living thing that you know and see burn to the ground and everything killed Well, I mean that is a shock, and they go, you know, you want to be racist. [SPEAKER_04]: We'll go maybe over here to Alabama. [SPEAKER_08]: Alabama.

[SPEAKER_08]: Well, what if I'm many of you, I'm sure have seen the film and I've read the book going with the wind. [SPEAKER_08]: Right. [SPEAKER_08]: The most expensive scene to that point in time was one page and one sentence at Lanna Burns. [SPEAKER_04]: Right. [SPEAKER_04]: Two words, right? [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: I mean, but that was an event that shocked their collective memory. [SPEAKER_08]: And it, yeah, makes sense.

[SPEAKER_04]: And that's the kind of pain that needs to be put to those kinds of people, who are racist, who want to try to take away the votes of black people and women and LGBTQ people. [SPEAKER_04]: Let's be honest, they want everybody who is not like them to be second class citizen. [SPEAKER_04]: And it has to be a shock. [SPEAKER_04]: And then it has to be something that is [SPEAKER_04]: that that we continue with. [SPEAKER_04]: And people say, well, you don't want to be violent.

[SPEAKER_08]: No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no

[SPEAKER_04]: Right, so the the preclearance part has to always apply to all of us and to see if we can rewrite the law so that it works and that is what we are going to have to do it's want it going to be one of the things we're going to have to Make significant modifications to the Supreme Court speaking of which the segment in the second round called balls and strikes my ass.

[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, so Chief Justice John Roberts was apparently in a political conference whining the American public wrongly things that we're political actors. [SPEAKER_04]: I'm sorry, John, but you are. [SPEAKER_04]: Johnny's right. [SPEAKER_04]: John Roberts is wrong. [SPEAKER_04]: You play pinball. [SPEAKER_04]: I have. [SPEAKER_04]: You guys play pinball? [SPEAKER_04]: Cubby? [SPEAKER_04]: OK. [SPEAKER_04]: Some of you here in the bar play pinball.

[SPEAKER_04]: You can, especially if you get familiar with the pinball machine, you can learn how far you can, you can put how far you're how to tilt it, you can feel it. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Right, exactly. [SPEAKER_04]: And you can tilt it some. [SPEAKER_04]: You put a little English on the ball as the phrase goes. [SPEAKER_04]: Right. [SPEAKER_04]: But if you tilt it too far, you lose. [SPEAKER_04]: Right.

[SPEAKER_04]: These idiots think that, well, we just want to tilt it like 90 degrees. [SPEAKER_04]: And then you're telling us it's laying in the floor, come off. [SPEAKER_04]: I can't believe you're saying that. [SPEAKER_04]: I mean, it's absolutely gaslighting. [SPEAKER_04]: And I'm sorry, but I don't care who you are. [SPEAKER_04]: You can be in a dictatorship when a dictatorship a real true fascist authoritarian dictatorship.

[SPEAKER_04]: And when they go too far, [SPEAKER_04]: Um, God, I'm trying to remember which dictator it was. [SPEAKER_04]: There is the story of, and I can't remember which dictator it was, but one of them did this and he kept coming out every week and making, you know, proudsmen, and they disappeared people. [SPEAKER_04]: They did really things.

[SPEAKER_04]: One time he comes out, things were really bad economically, and he comes out in his balcony and goes through this again, and one person, one person in a low in it, shouts out, and then another, and then another, and then another.

[SPEAKER_04]: that's the moment it broke that's the moment that he tilted it too far and then he got wiped out what's the emperor has no clothes it's the child pointing up he's naked right and at that moment everybody suddenly oh well I guess he is this that's that's the moment where John Roberts is right now for those people who didn't I'm sorry but this ridiculousness of oh we weren't political [SPEAKER_08]: on our Federalist Society people.

[SPEAKER_08]: I mean, he and Kavanaugh alone tried to overturn well, they helped to make sure that George W. Bush got elected. [SPEAKER_04]: Well, and not only that, we can prove it. [SPEAKER_04]: Here, we've got two stories that happen to be next to that here in the news on tap. [SPEAKER_04]: So this is from last week. [SPEAKER_04]: The newly revealed Supreme Court memos. [SPEAKER_04]: Highlight chief just just John Roberts activism.

[SPEAKER_04]: And then there's a story from the New York Times. [SPEAKER_04]: We still have the gift link. [SPEAKER_04]: We just pulled it from last week. [SPEAKER_04]: The inside story of how John Roberts weaponized the shadow dot. [SPEAKER_04]: And he weaponized it by being political. [SPEAKER_04]: Oh, I'm sorry. [SPEAKER_04]: I'm not going to let Obama do the green energy thing because I don't like green energy.

[SPEAKER_08]: They have children right in his wife have children and grandchildren, yeah, but apparently they don't like their children or grandchildren. [SPEAKER_04]: Well, remember the modern Republican motto, I've got mine, F.U. [SPEAKER_04]: That applies to their kids and other family members as well. [SPEAKER_04]: As long as they have theirs, well, the kids can get theirs, right? [SPEAKER_04]: I've got mine. [SPEAKER_08]: Well, there was it at the moment, but who knows?

[SPEAKER_04]: Uh-huh. [SPEAKER_04]: That's why we don't have that kind of, that's why we don't recommend having that kind of attitude. [SPEAKER_04]: We say, you can actually do better than that. [SPEAKER_08]: I don't have kids, and I want green energy. [SPEAKER_04]: I won't be dead before it's a problem. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I want the world to be better, too. [SPEAKER_04]: Call me crazy. [SPEAKER_04]: Anyway, look, we do have something that'll make things a little bit better for you.

[SPEAKER_04]: We have a great drink of the tea together. [SPEAKER_04]: And we're going to do that next. [SPEAKER_04]: John Fubelsang is coming in. [SPEAKER_04]: It's Thursday night. [SPEAKER_04]: The week's almost done. [SPEAKER_04]: We are aiming to make your week just a little bit better. [SPEAKER_04]: Thank you for hanging out with us here on this Thursday night. [SPEAKER_04]: Drink of the day coming up next with Jody and me and you. [SPEAKER_04]: Here at the politics party.

[SPEAKER_07]: We'll be right back after we pay some bills at the politics bar. [SPEAKER_04]: And it's Thursday night. [SPEAKER_04]: Hey, thanks very much, hanging out with us. [SPEAKER_04]: Jody and I are here, hanging with you, which is good. [SPEAKER_04]: You know, it's one of those days. [SPEAKER_04]: I can understand you needing an extra drink, needing something that is classic, needing something that is, you know, just right for the moments.

[SPEAKER_04]: You could do it if you're annual. [SPEAKER_04]: You go back in. [SPEAKER_04]: You do this fine. [SPEAKER_08]: So there you go. [SPEAKER_08]: There you go. [SPEAKER_04]: We aim to please, and pardon me, sorry. [SPEAKER_04]: Goodness. [SPEAKER_04]: Well, you can tell I need a drink. [SPEAKER_04]: Today's drink, especially for our friends at AM-950, and Minneapolis Saint Paul, it actually started there.

[SPEAKER_04]: And people will think about this as a New York drink, but it's not a New York drink. [SPEAKER_04]: Sorry for those of you who are listening to New York City, this is not show drink. [SPEAKER_04]: This is the mini apple drink, not the big apple drink. [SPEAKER_04]: It's kind of fun to say that, so what is today's drink of the day and what is the inspiration for you? [SPEAKER_08]: The drink of the day is a cosmopolitan, not like my mom's, which we had last year on our first episode.

[SPEAKER_08]: It's slightly different because here's this pinker, she likes it a certain way, but this is your classic cosmopolitan because today is National Cosmopolitan, who knew? [SPEAKER_04]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_08]: Oh, she doesn't like that. [SPEAKER_04]: That's exactly. [SPEAKER_04]: I liked it too. [SPEAKER_04]: We got the Sex and the City clip in there. [SPEAKER_04]: I had to. [SPEAKER_04]: It was just, yeah, it makes sense. [SPEAKER_04]: Look, I mean, it makes sense to me, too.

[SPEAKER_04]: But there are a lot of different kinds of cosmos. [SPEAKER_04]: As you know, there are one, there's your mom's cosmos. [SPEAKER_04]: They actually go back to, uh, literally, I believe the 1920s. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, 30s. [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah, 1927. [SPEAKER_04]: and 1934. [SPEAKER_04]: There's multiple different kinds of cosmos, but the modern cosmopolitan, this is the thing. [SPEAKER_04]: So there are our multiple different stories.

[SPEAKER_04]: Some people say a Cheryl, Cheryl charming, okay, a miss charming. [SPEAKER_04]: She wrote a whole book on it called the cocktail companion says that in 1989, Cheryl cook, then known as the martini queen of South Beach. [SPEAKER_04]: She's bartender Miami Beach that she created it. [SPEAKER_04]: OK, you've got a good story about that. [SPEAKER_04]: But then there's another guy by the name of Neil Murray.

[SPEAKER_04]: Young black man in Minneapolis took his first bartending position at the cork and cleaver in Golden Valley and in 1975. [SPEAKER_04]: And that he created it. [SPEAKER_04]: And then there's a whole thing. [SPEAKER_04]: We have multiple sources, and I kind of decided to put it in monological. [SPEAKER_02]: Thank you for doing that. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: You're welcome.

[SPEAKER_04]: I saw that you had it, and I was like, it's good, but it's not chronological. [SPEAKER_04]: So what happened is Neil made it Minneapolis, and then Neil went to San Francisco. [SPEAKER_04]: So, you want to San Francisco and show to other people, including Patrick Pattie Mitton, how to make the Cosmo the way that he did. [SPEAKER_04]: Then Mitton took the Cosmopolitan move to New York City, continued Tending Bar, and he taught other bar tenders.

[SPEAKER_04]: Some of whom actually served to two people like Sarah Jessica Parker, and then those bar tenders took it and upgraded it. [SPEAKER_04]: It's like, [SPEAKER_04]: Wow. [SPEAKER_04]: So you get to see where it goes miniapolis here. [SPEAKER_04]: For Cisco, New York City, hey, bats are out, obviously Miami Beach was separate, but somewhere, it's kind of cool. [SPEAKER_04]: It's a really cool story, and I really like the history in it today, which is very good.

[SPEAKER_04]: By the way, Julie and the sub-stack corner of Bar over here, she says, we are always living in history. [SPEAKER_04]: So we should all remember that, and that the Cosmos won a her favorite drink. [SPEAKER_08]: Oh nice. [SPEAKER_04]: She says, thank you very much. [SPEAKER_04]: She really appreciates it. [SPEAKER_04]: So. [SPEAKER_04]: Um, this particular sense to class at Cosmo. [SPEAKER_04]: What is in this particular dream?

[SPEAKER_08]: Well, you're going to need a pre-chilled coo class, a shake or some ice. [SPEAKER_08]: Two ounces of vodka now they suggest absolute cistern or any citrus flavored vodka will work. [SPEAKER_08]: Okay, so it's not a, it's not a plain vodka. [SPEAKER_08]: You have to have a little flavor to it. [SPEAKER_08]: I'm three quarters of an ounce of quantro.

[SPEAKER_08]: Okay. [SPEAKER_08]: Three quarters of an ounce of freshly squeezed lime juice, a half ounce of cranberry juice, and you garnish with a lime wheel. [SPEAKER_08]: She basically take all of your ingredients, support it in your shaker with ice and shake it until it's cold and you strain it into your glass and you grunge with the lime wheel on the rim of said glass. [SPEAKER_08]: And enjoy.

[SPEAKER_08]: Bam. [SPEAKER_08]: Talk to Miranda and Charlotte and... [SPEAKER_04]: It is an excellent drink. [SPEAKER_04]: There are like you said. [SPEAKER_04]: There's some people like, wait a minute. [SPEAKER_04]: Your mom, you know, there's a Carol Cosmo. [SPEAKER_04]: There is. [SPEAKER_04]: There's a lot of different Cosmos, but this is the modern version of the classic. [SPEAKER_04]: Look, if you happen to be subscribed, you have the recipe now.

[SPEAKER_04]: Sitting in your email box, I'm gonna be you've just saved it off to your desktop. [SPEAKER_04]: That's fine too. [SPEAKER_04]: You can do whatever saved on your phone, however you do it. [SPEAKER_04]: It's there if you subscribe at the politicsbar.com. [SPEAKER_04]: Amen. [SPEAKER_04]: All righty. [SPEAKER_04]: Let's see here, fifth round a day in the entertainment section for today, Saturday not live UK. [SPEAKER_08]: Have you seen any of those, Jody?

[SPEAKER_08]: I've seen some of the odd there Malania thing about her talking about Epstein was hilarious. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_08]: There were three people in like a backyard in England, and she just shows up. [SPEAKER_08]: I did not know, Jeffrey, we weren't even talking about you or anything. [SPEAKER_08]: What are you doing here? [SPEAKER_08]: I did not know. [SPEAKER_08]: Oh, you need to be do a lipid. [SPEAKER_04]: I mean, it's funny. [SPEAKER_04]: They got renewed for a second.

[SPEAKER_04]: Good. [SPEAKER_04]: They shouldn't. [SPEAKER_08]: I don't know why they didn't do it. [SPEAKER_08]: I don't know why Lauren waited so long. [SPEAKER_04]: not sure either, but it's it's nice to see they're doing well, you know, over there on that side of the pond. [SPEAKER_04]: A couple of concert reviews in the entertainment segment today. [SPEAKER_04]: No doubt is at the Vegas sphere. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, they're playing the hits, but it sounds like it's a pretty good concert.

[SPEAKER_04]: So if you happen to be heading to Vegas or you're there, or you know, maybe you're close to it, and you like no doubt definitely see you can get yourself some tickets on that. [SPEAKER_08]: We almost went when we were there a couple of weekends ago. [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_08]: Um, and. [SPEAKER_08]: We're going to see the Wizard of Oz. [SPEAKER_04]: Ooh, I've heard that's a good one too. [SPEAKER_08]: What? [SPEAKER_08]: The cheap seats, like, were you not in the middle?

[SPEAKER_08]: You're like, kind of, you know. [SPEAKER_04]: Closer to the edge, right? [SPEAKER_08]: 125 dollars a person. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, it's, it's pricey. [SPEAKER_08]: I mean, I hear it to my brother saw it, and I know some other people that saw it. [SPEAKER_08]: And it's like, yes, we all know the movie, blah, blah, blah. [SPEAKER_04]: It's what it is that. [SPEAKER_04]: It's amazing. [SPEAKER_08]: And it's like everywhere.

[SPEAKER_08]: The visuals, the wind, the smells, the fire, when the wizard comes in, and is all scary, and then when the witch dies, and blah, blah, dies. [SPEAKER_08]: Um, if you've seen wicked, you know what I'm saying. [SPEAKER_08]: Um, but it's all like it's an experience, and I'm like, I understand that, but we is pulling out. [SPEAKER_08]: So. [SPEAKER_04]: Right. [SPEAKER_04]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_04]: And I describe it the politics.

[SPEAKER_08]: I knew the mega death, their tickets were going for $2,000. [SPEAKER_04]: Seriously? [SPEAKER_08]: So no doubts, probably up there. [SPEAKER_04]: Uh, kind of think of it, but, you know, some people, they go to Vegas, they want to, that's a vacation they can do it. [SPEAKER_04]: Billy Eilish, if you'd rather do your concert vacation at home, her new concert video, actually is pretty good. [SPEAKER_04]: They said James Cameron directed a Titanic concert film.

[SPEAKER_04]: I know money, but whatever. [SPEAKER_04]: In sports, Wendy and the spurs handed the timber wolves, they're largest postseason to feet last night. [SPEAKER_04]: I'm not sure what things are doing tonight, but right now the series is tied one piece. [SPEAKER_04]: Jalen Brunsett helped the next take a two-o lead over the sixers, one-o-way one-o-two ducks beat the golden night to the NIHL-3-1 series is tied one piece with Anaheim and Montreal Sabers.

[SPEAKER_04]: I only figured out they have the power to play second round series. [SPEAKER_04]: I got an open runway over Montreal. [SPEAKER_04]: So there you go for those of you who lack a little bit of entertainment mixed in with your politics, which look. [SPEAKER_04]: Politics can be entertaining, but it also should be something that is [SPEAKER_04]: better, that is effective. [SPEAKER_04]: And I think this kind of gets to the thing I've been handing out here.

[SPEAKER_04]: I'm going to play this, we, we meant to play this yesterday. [SPEAKER_04]: Um, uh, speaking of entertainment and politics mixing, Barack Obama, uh, if you didn't see it, if you didn't hear it, if you haven't seen clips, uh, he did do little, uh, interview. [SPEAKER_04]: Well, significant interview. [SPEAKER_04]: Uh, we see the whole hour. [SPEAKER_08]: What's that? [SPEAKER_04]: Oh, yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Here's here's a clip from in here because this, this is a pertinent part here.

[SPEAKER_04]: Let me play this. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm not as worried about this so-called rift between the left and liberals as he described it. [SPEAKER_00]: Because I think that within the Democratic Party and I would argue a bunch of independents and even some Republicans as well, the brothers over arching belief in equality, fairness. [SPEAKER_00]: If you work, you should be able to make a living wage and support a family, and retire with dignity and respect.

[SPEAKER_00]: Okay. [SPEAKER_00]: We should not allow companies to just run a rough shot over the rights of workers. [SPEAKER_00]: There are a bunch of things that we agree on. [SPEAKER_00]: And it's really more of a question of what are the specific things that we have to do. [SPEAKER_00]: You look at something like Mondami.

[SPEAKER_00]: Do I think it's an extraordinary talent right he wants people to be able to afford housing in New York crazy idea crazy that's wacky I would assume liberals in New York want the same thing and so I don't worry as much about some of these these issues

[SPEAKER_08]: uh... within the democratic party what i'm more interested in uh... for democrats dinner just talk to regular people like we're not in a college seminar now so people were giving him crap for saying that because he always talks like a professor you are correct because i like i can't believe that obama's the one who said that i can because he actually okay the two thousand four democratic convention when he spoke

[SPEAKER_08]: First off, purple guy, not blue and red guy, so everybody will remember that. [SPEAKER_08]: He was always kind of a middle of the road guy who wanted to work with people. [SPEAKER_08]: Yes, he has to actually get things done. [SPEAKER_08]: To get things done, because he knows how things work. [SPEAKER_08]: Secondly, constitutional professor. [SPEAKER_02]: Professionally.

[SPEAKER_08]: But when he spoke at that convention, [SPEAKER_08]: I was like, we were watching, we had a TV on, we have this room, we call the bar. [SPEAKER_08]: And we had a TV on and we were watching it at the bar. [SPEAKER_08]: And I looked at Lonnie and said, that guy's gonna be present. [SPEAKER_08]: We didn't know he was gonna be four years later, but I said that.

[SPEAKER_08]: And then I believe it was a Wednesday or Thursday, we were taking our trashes to the curb, you know, our bins, and my neighbors next to it, we all finished. [SPEAKER_08]: eating or doing whatever until he was done. [SPEAKER_08]: We all walked out taking our trash bins away. [SPEAKER_08]: That guy. [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah, that guy. [SPEAKER_08]: We're all like that guy.

[SPEAKER_04]: Look, what President Obama and and for all those people who denigrate the West Wing, which pisses me off, because the TV show were just the West Wing in general. [SPEAKER_04]: The TV show. [SPEAKER_04]: Oh, okay. [SPEAKER_04]: Wow. [SPEAKER_04]: Why? [SPEAKER_04]: I'm like, screw you. [SPEAKER_04]: Well, because they're like, oh, they're the problem that we had all this. [SPEAKER_04]: No. [SPEAKER_04]: What?

[SPEAKER_08]: Yeah, they're really good writing and really good acting is a problem. [SPEAKER_04]: Well, and they, they integrate the newsroom. [SPEAKER_04]: They go, well, that's not really how the newsroom works. [SPEAKER_04]: The morning show, you're the member, you're the person that's in the audience, who isn't in journalism and doesn't know. [SPEAKER_04]: The show was written to make you feel and get the experience that they're of. [SPEAKER_04]: It's not going to be exactly.

[SPEAKER_04]: A documentary. [SPEAKER_08]: No. [SPEAKER_04]: idiots and that's what the west bring was about politics. [SPEAKER_04]: It was so that people would get informed and get passionate and want to be more informed. [SPEAKER_08]: Well studio 60 on the Sunset strip, which was like the drama version of the rock. [SPEAKER_08]: I was like, yeah, that's how it's done.

[SPEAKER_04]: right because I was behind the scenes at a sketch comedy show for years right and the and the thing is is that is it exactly how it was done what does it give you the feeling as a viewer right well we will continue this discussion because this is the discussion that actually came from from stuff from online earlier today and

[SPEAKER_04]: It's important to you guys because we can do better and the idea that they go well, you know, stupid Western people and stupid Obama telling us that we don't need to talk like Being educated is not a bad thing. [SPEAKER_04]: No, we can do we can do so much better. [SPEAKER_04]: One of the ways we can do better is stop trying to be the queen of snark. [SPEAKER_04]: Stop trying to be the king of snark.

[SPEAKER_08]: Well, and I mean Elizabeth Warren is a professor, but she knows how to talk to people in non-professorial ways. [SPEAKER_04]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_04]: John Fugelsan, comedian, Bajeno's how to talk to people about politics and religion. [SPEAKER_04]: And he will be here next to ours without being creature. [SPEAKER_04]: Oh, yeah, look, look, he'll be here. [SPEAKER_04]: Flesh and your drink can come on now. [SPEAKER_04]: Can't write back.

[SPEAKER_09]: After we pay some bills of the politics bar. [SPEAKER_06]: Well, let it go! [SPEAKER_06]: Thank you! [SPEAKER_06]: Let it go! [SPEAKER_05]: You think it's the far way that you are! [SPEAKER_06]: The politics march! [SPEAKER_06]: Shotsmith, Pearson, Jody Hamilton! [SPEAKER_04]: The fourth round of the week, second hour of the show. [SPEAKER_04]: So Thursday night, second hour, that is where you are at here at politics bar.

[SPEAKER_04]: Thank you, by the way, for coming in from wherever you are physically located. [SPEAKER_04]: Whatever radio station you are listening to us on, we do appreciate your ears and your time. [SPEAKER_04]: Thank you very much to everybody listening on AM950, Minneapolis, St. Paul, and the folks listening in Georgia on Georgia now, radio.

[SPEAKER_04]: Thank you, by the way, if you are listening in Chicago on WCPTA, AMA 20, or maybe you are in the Tri-City's area of Tennessee, thank you for listening on the G2 or talk, or maybe.

[SPEAKER_04]: maybe you're somewhere else and you were listening on progressive voices radio worldwide and we thank you to that as well and of course to everybody listening on your favorite podcast player thank you very much of course we really appreciate those people who are subscribed to the politicsbar.com we have our birthday sale on now indeed no we are not wearing our birthday suits it's under my clothes

[SPEAKER_04]: Well, I had, when I was a kid, I actually had a, well, I mean, I actually had a suit for going to birthdays. [SPEAKER_04]: Things when I was bright. [SPEAKER_04]: Right. [SPEAKER_04]: Not this birthday suit. [SPEAKER_08]: I had a little thing with my Mary Jane, so it was a little. [SPEAKER_04]: There you go. [SPEAKER_04]: Right. [SPEAKER_04]: It's any shoes. [SPEAKER_04]: Right. [SPEAKER_04]: Right. [SPEAKER_04]: The whole thing. [SPEAKER_04]: Anyway, look, we do have the discount.

[SPEAKER_04]: You guys can check it out. [SPEAKER_04]: It's there at the politics bar.com. [SPEAKER_04]: Okay. [SPEAKER_04]: So back to the discussion. [SPEAKER_04]: We were having for the top of the hour here. [SPEAKER_04]: President Obama, former President Obama, had this, it was a great bit, and hopefully you guys have seen some of the clips that are occurring there on YouTube, there are a lot of the social media platforms as well.

[SPEAKER_04]: But it is this clip that seems to have the further left in sense. [SPEAKER_04]: How dare he say to us that Democrats should talk like normal people talk. [SPEAKER_04]: And this is the whole thing where I bring in somebody who is further left, and who puts her actions where her mouth is kind of a gazelle, who did it in her campaign and had this Logan. [SPEAKER_04]: What if we didn't suck? [SPEAKER_04]: And now she has a public service organization called Capau.

[SPEAKER_04]: You guys can look that up. [SPEAKER_04]: We'll tweet some stuff. [SPEAKER_04]: I'll put some stuff out on different social media platforms and stuff later about that. [SPEAKER_04]: But because she's putting her mouth, [SPEAKER_04]: which he's putting her actions were her mouth gross, but just look like a bob. [SPEAKER_08]: He walks the book. [SPEAKER_08]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_04]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_04]: Barack Obama does too.

[SPEAKER_04]: And what he means by saying that Democrats need to talk like normal people talk. [SPEAKER_04]: Um, here's a good example. [SPEAKER_04]: So Barack Obama pauses a lot. [SPEAKER_08]: He does, because he's thinking. [SPEAKER_04]: Yes, yes, drove, uh, drove, lower income nuts, absolutely. [SPEAKER_04]: When she was just doing her radio show and I was pulling cuts, I pulled a cut of President Obama from something back then in 2016.

[SPEAKER_04]: I think it was like a minute and a half minute, 40 seconds, something like that. [SPEAKER_04]: And I cut it down to about 45, 47 seconds, something like that. [SPEAKER_04]: He'll go really without taking out any context. [SPEAKER_04]: I just took it out of the process. [SPEAKER_04]: And the verbal questions, you know, I did that too, yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: But that just tells you how many of those that he has in there while he's thinking about stuff.

[SPEAKER_04]: And I was able to, you know, kind of think, oh, my God. [SPEAKER_04]: And it sounded like normal. [SPEAKER_04]: It just sounded like he was speaking continually. [SPEAKER_04]: Like he'd already thought it out, written it out and was just delivering the whole thing. [SPEAKER_04]: Right. [SPEAKER_04]: But what Barack Obama always did, what Joe Biden did, what Hillary Clinton did, what Kamala Harris has done, what a lot of good politicians have done.

[SPEAKER_04]: Pritzkers, good at this, so it was news some, they want you to be educated. [SPEAKER_04]: Of course. [SPEAKER_04]: That's why we do the whole news on tap thing. [SPEAKER_04]: You guys aren't dumb. [SPEAKER_04]: You guys get it. [SPEAKER_04]: We couched the, we changed the headlines and a lot of these stories. [SPEAKER_04]: So you guys know a little bit more of what's in them and what you're looking for. [SPEAKER_04]: So you know the framing a little bit more.

[SPEAKER_04]: Once you get into it, even if it's a little complicated, maybe some complicated economics or maybe there's a little complicated legal crap in there. [SPEAKER_04]: And if it's really complicated, we bring in somebody. [SPEAKER_04]: Some of our legal folks bar and plan and you go, oh, I get it. [SPEAKER_04]: Sure. [SPEAKER_04]: Because you're not dumb, you're here in the bar because you're intelligent, you love hanging out.

[SPEAKER_04]: What Obama is saying is, you can also get to be too hung up on that stuff. [SPEAKER_04]: The perfect example of that was this week wasn't last night with two nights ago. [SPEAKER_04]: There had been two nights of debates for the California gubernatorial race. [SPEAKER_04]: But Sarah's actually doing really well. [SPEAKER_04]: We've got that into these news on tap-ass. [SPEAKER_08]: I voted for him today. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, if I don't he has her sticker on.

[SPEAKER_04]: Joe, he has an eye voted sticker for all panelists of you, just starting evening. [SPEAKER_08]: And I voted for my mayor, and they also had a debate last night, Karen did a word. [SPEAKER_04]: They did. [SPEAKER_04]: And then two stories of that in the polls of politics. [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah, she and Spencer Pratt were getting on the state in the Senate. [SPEAKER_08]: I forget her in the Senate. [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah, the count remains, yeah.

[SPEAKER_04]: Spencer Pratt, are you freaking kidding? [SPEAKER_08]: I know, but hopefully he will not be, I mean, there's so many people want to do not go to next door. [SPEAKER_08]: Just don't go there. [SPEAKER_04]: The app. [SPEAKER_04]: You can go next door to your, you know, your name. [SPEAKER_04]: Do not go on that app.

[SPEAKER_08]: It's just, I don't know, I remember my niece signed me up for it because when she was living in the neighborhood, she was like, let's, you know, in case, don't go there. [SPEAKER_08]: It makes Twitter look nice. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, it's weird.

[SPEAKER_04]: Anyway, but look, [SPEAKER_04]: So Bacera was attacked pretty much on Tuesday night and he responded poorly in the last night he responded a lot better to this because hopefully he paid attention to some of the people saying the same thing. [SPEAKER_04]: Medicare for all is a brand. [SPEAKER_04]: It is not a specific series of plans.

[SPEAKER_04]: that this is where some of the people on the further left get their their panning your bunch and a bunch and yeah exactly they get their well that care for all of you are the same about some of those policies folks as the religious right nut jobs are who say well you could worship Jesus but it's only right if you worship my kind of Jesus.

[SPEAKER_08]: which is like, shut up, I want single pair and when we got the ACA I actually wrote President Obama and his social secretary who I met was so sweet and he goes, I put it on his desk. [SPEAKER_08]: That's awesome. [SPEAKER_08]: Which is really cool of him to do. [SPEAKER_08]: But I said, you know what? [SPEAKER_08]: I really appreciate that now my insurance rates have gone down because of what you and Nancy Pelosi have done.

[SPEAKER_04]: Right. [SPEAKER_04]: And I really appreciate that. [SPEAKER_04]: And I need to Republicans have worked to make them go back up. [SPEAKER_08]: I know. [SPEAKER_08]: And I said, you know, I really wanted single pair, but I know how difficult a lift that is, but I really appreciate what you have tried to do and have accomplished thus far. [SPEAKER_04]: Right. [SPEAKER_04]: And that is 100% the way to put it. [SPEAKER_04]: Accomplished thus far.

[SPEAKER_04]: We're glad that Obama came in and made it better when he says that he wants people that he wants Democrats to talk to normal people, talk like all of us here at the bar talk with each other. [SPEAKER_04]: That doesn't mean sometimes talking with normally, talking like normal people talk, involves teaching somebody. [SPEAKER_08]: My friend Jeff, who taught me about not the Jeff, you know, different Jeff.

[SPEAKER_08]: Okay, Jeff. [SPEAKER_08]: He taught me about how bad a flat tax would be. [SPEAKER_04]: Right. [SPEAKER_04]: Okay. [SPEAKER_04]: That was like. [SPEAKER_04]: Thank you. [SPEAKER_04]: There are political things like that. [SPEAKER_04]: There are there are there are there are sports things people. [SPEAKER_04]: Oh, I don't like sports or whatever. [SPEAKER_04]: And then they get a little educated, especially like around Olympic sports oftentimes, but you can do it too.

[SPEAKER_04]: That's simple stuff, baseball, basketball, football, whatever. [SPEAKER_04]: And once somebody has a little bit of knowledge, they go, I can kind of enjoy it or at least respect it now. [SPEAKER_04]: They didn't know. [SPEAKER_04]: It's fine. [SPEAKER_04]: It doesn't mean that they were stupid, it meant that just because you're not fully educated enough to be part of the discussion, doesn't mean that you can't be educated. [SPEAKER_04]: And so sometimes President Obama did that.

[SPEAKER_04]: If actually did that, a lot over the years, because he knew when he was talking to you and me and everybody out there. [SPEAKER_04]: He wanted to, as he's presenting the information that he knows in the way that he can, to at least give everybody a baseline. [SPEAKER_04]: This is what's going on. [SPEAKER_04]: If you didn't understand, this is what this meant. [SPEAKER_04]: This is what this meant. [SPEAKER_04]: Okay, so this is what's going on, and now you know what's going on.

[SPEAKER_04]: And some people say, well, that's professorial. [SPEAKER_04]: Well, would you rather be a dumbass and not know what the hell's going on? [SPEAKER_04]: Would you rather somebody conveniently, politely friendly said, hey, this is this, this is that, now you know what's going on. [SPEAKER_04]: So now you can be involved in the discussion too. [SPEAKER_04]: So you can do things like vote intelligently. [SPEAKER_08]: Well, I mean, do you want somebody to explain their position or not?

[SPEAKER_04]: Well, and their position relative to what? [SPEAKER_08]: To what, whatever it is, whether it's healthcare, the voting rights, the dog catcher. [SPEAKER_08]: I don't care. [SPEAKER_04]: I want to know what your position is. [SPEAKER_04]: Yes. [SPEAKER_04]: Right. [SPEAKER_04]: In order to know what your position is, I often have to know the context. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Which? [SPEAKER_04]: None of the words that we have said have been really complicated.

[SPEAKER_04]: We haven't said anything that has like five syllables in it. [SPEAKER_04]: This is what President Obama was talking about. [SPEAKER_04]: And Democrats a lot of times, we get caught up in the details, because Democrats in general love policy details. [SPEAKER_04]: Okay, we're walking. [SPEAKER_04]: We're walking.

[SPEAKER_04]: We like to make sure that the machinery works well because we know how complicated the machinery is and we know that Republicans in general, like what they're doing with attacking the voting rights act, they like to take not just a stick, but giant baseball bat and just jam that sucker in the gears and blow everything up. [SPEAKER_04]: But democracy, [SPEAKER_04]: and capitalism when they are properly regulated and properly work well are extremely complex machines.

[SPEAKER_04]: Yes. [SPEAKER_04]: That's not simple. [SPEAKER_04]: Transmission times 10. [SPEAKER_08]: I mean, I love movie Dave. [SPEAKER_08]: I love the movie Dave. [SPEAKER_08]: I think it's a fantastic movie, but it made it look really simple. [SPEAKER_04]: But Dave also, Aaron Sarkin. [SPEAKER_04]: Aaron Sarkin is great at taking things like politics and media and making it simple enough that you can understand and that you will be interested.

[SPEAKER_04]: I just saw a study here not too long ago. [SPEAKER_04]: I didn't put it in the news on tap because it wasn't pertinent what we were talking about. [SPEAKER_04]: But I saw a study that said, [SPEAKER_04]: It's more important to get people interested in a subject than it is necessarily to get them all the details first. [SPEAKER_04]: Right. [SPEAKER_04]: If people are interested, they'll dig in and find the details later. [SPEAKER_04]: I agree.

[SPEAKER_04]: That's what the West Wing TV show was all about. [SPEAKER_04]: Was getting you educated enough to know what they were talking about. [SPEAKER_04]: So when I say, POTUS, we all know what that is now. [SPEAKER_04]: President of the United States, I say, Scotus, Supreme Court of the United States. [SPEAKER_04]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_04]: People, oh yeah, yeah, we know that, but you didn't always know that. [SPEAKER_04]: No. [SPEAKER_04]: Somebody had to take the time to educate you.

[SPEAKER_04]: Somebody had to take the time to educate you about things like the filibuster, about reconciliation things. [SPEAKER_04]: You didn't always know these things.

[SPEAKER_04]: It's good to have a little knowledge and Democrats need to be able to give people a little bit of knowledge so then we can say this is our position relative to the Republicans position and that's the Republicans position and that's a stupid ass position to dumb ass position and then say it that way don't say well the position of my friend my opponent is [SPEAKER_04]: That's what President Obama is saying the Democrats shouldn't do.

[SPEAKER_04]: And Democrats also should not go, OK, well, there are 17 different things that you need to know to. [SPEAKER_04]: When we get into this policy discussions, those people who are in the room and those, remember this last year, the couple different times at Democrats held their ground on the filibuster. [SPEAKER_04]: How much time did we take and how many times did we take to explain to hear the barjote? [SPEAKER_08]: of the time? [SPEAKER_04]: A lot of time.

[SPEAKER_04]: But we were able to boil it down to three different things. [SPEAKER_04]: Three simple things that Democrats wanted. [SPEAKER_04]: And then people were like, I get that. [SPEAKER_04]: And then they tell their friends when they leave the bar. [SPEAKER_04]: And they tell their friends when they leave the bar. [SPEAKER_04]: And they were able to tell their Democratic members of the House and Senate. [SPEAKER_04]: You know what? [SPEAKER_04]: I get it.

[SPEAKER_04]: I understand those three things. [SPEAKER_04]: I know what you're standing for, and I'm with you on that. [SPEAKER_04]: and they were able to do that because we educated folks with a very simple thing and we did it in simple language. [SPEAKER_04]: That's what President Obama is saying. [SPEAKER_04]: He's saying things can be better. [SPEAKER_04]: But this idea of, well, Mr. [SPEAKER_04]: Professor is telling us to talk simply. [SPEAKER_04]: Good. [SPEAKER_04]: Get over it.

[SPEAKER_04]: Get over yourself. [SPEAKER_08]: And the dad's will be doing the same thing with ballroom money. [SPEAKER_08]: That's what Bob just calls it ballroom. [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_08]: He doesn't call it the ballroom. [SPEAKER_08]: He goes ballroom. [SPEAKER_04]: Ballroom. [SPEAKER_04]: And it's we can make funny jokes with it that way, too.

[SPEAKER_04]: Because literally Donald is sitting there in his chair in the elbow office when he's not nodding off, uh, you know, uh, he is just sitting there playing with his ballroom. [SPEAKER_04]: I didn't buzz. [SPEAKER_08]: He doesn't even have enough of the balls to put in said room. [SPEAKER_04]: Although, Joe, he's true about that. [SPEAKER_04]: She's right, maybe that maybe I should have been more of a, anyway, it's Joe, he's right.

[SPEAKER_04]: Look, John Fucle saying is just about getting off the train, he will be here shortly. [SPEAKER_04]: But I think you guys, I hope you guys should understand. [SPEAKER_04]: We can do better. [SPEAKER_04]: And one of the things we should be doing better about, [SPEAKER_04]: don't ding people about trying to get educated and don't ding people about trying to educate people enough to get into the conversation. [SPEAKER_04]: We want more people in the conversation.

[SPEAKER_04]: And we want people to stand up and vote. [SPEAKER_04]: That's being part of the conversation. [SPEAKER_04]: That's who we are. [UNKNOWN]: So, here. [SPEAKER_04]: Look, John Fucosek will be next. [SPEAKER_04]: We will talk more about all of the news on tap for the day. [SPEAKER_04]: Fresh in your drink. [SPEAKER_04]: Do what you got to do if you got to do it down the hall. [SPEAKER_04]: Left right in center. [SPEAKER_04]: We aim to please. [SPEAKER_04]: You aim to please.

[SPEAKER_04]: And then come right back to the [SPEAKER_04]: We'll be right back after we pay some bills at the politics bar. [SPEAKER_04]: John Fugo saying thank you. [SPEAKER_04]: Thank you for bar from the he's in the LA studios this evening Which you know I always like that you you seem to get a little more air a little bit more Breath you fresh air out there Also also you happen to have a gig coming up next Tuesday night.

[SPEAKER_04]: He's too excited [SPEAKER_01]: oh yes i do in fact i'm out here in the west coast and i came out here just to work on a book and uh... hide from people and i got roped into a really great event uh... the california rising life concert benefiting blue wave california to two two stag at the l-ray theater [SPEAKER_01]: featuring Jean Smart, Andy Richter, Lisa Low, Rufus Wayne Wright, Allison Gill, Dana Goldberg, me and others, and that's at bluewavecalifornia.org slash concert.

[SPEAKER_01]: I'll do whatever I can do to try to get Democrats elected in California. [SPEAKER_04]: Yes, that is fan damn tested I was I was I've been actually somewhat cheered about The LA mayor always last polls I saw Mayor Bass is doing well.

[SPEAKER_08]: She is I mean she's close with Spencer [SPEAKER_04]: I still think I still think she's gonna end up doing better as far as I think I think she'll get another term What she should and then of course obviously new pole comes out showing Bacera is now leading the the Britt who unlike hell yes because what the hell first of all [SPEAKER_04]: he's bread. [SPEAKER_04]: He's only been an American for like five years. [SPEAKER_04]: Also he's a Fox TV host. [SPEAKER_04]: He's never been.

[SPEAKER_01]: Well, that's a problem. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, let's not be prejudiced against against Florida's running for office. [SPEAKER_01]: Jen Grant home was a great governor, great great, great captain member. [SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, Fox News Fox News, that's where I draw the line.

[SPEAKER_01]: right right look he's he hasn't been involved in government in you got it you got it you know get some training wheels that don't like that stopped the reality show racist landlord had no involvement government come on now and yet and look well time star he's not he's never been in government and he nobody's got a lot of experience with running for things with no qualifications so that counts for something right i mean look if he becomes the number two on this i'm voting for him

[SPEAKER_08]: I'm not voting. [SPEAKER_08]: I did not vote for him today. [SPEAKER_01]: We are moving to pick your favorite billionaire. [SPEAKER_01]: That's going to be our elections. [SPEAKER_01]: I know. [SPEAKER_08]: I mean, I know Pritzker is a militant billionaire, but he's also been governor. [SPEAKER_08]: I don't know if he'd done anything prior to that. [SPEAKER_08]: But he's a very good governor. [SPEAKER_08]: So Tom Stire, I don't know. [SPEAKER_08]: Maybe he'd be there.

[SPEAKER_01]: And Pritzker has a record of fighting for non-billionaires. [SPEAKER_01]: Thank you. [SPEAKER_01]: You know. [SPEAKER_01]: So yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, look, and when Tom Stier starts talking about taxing the rich in single payer, I'll feel a little more comfortable talking about taxing the rich here. [SPEAKER_08]: He has been talking about that here, and he has been talking about universal health care. [SPEAKER_01]: So I, well, that's much better than having the voting rights act.

[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm all fine, I'm all fine. [SPEAKER_04]: Well, that's, that's been one of the things, too. [SPEAKER_04]: So we, we, we just talked to this last segment John about today. [SPEAKER_04]: There's, there's been a lot of people obviously blasting some people loving the fact of of seeing form of president Obama on the Colbert show, which was good.

[SPEAKER_04]: I like other people blasting Obama for basically saying that Democrats needed to talk more, need to talk more like normal people and they're going, oh, Mr. [SPEAKER_04]: Professor.

[SPEAKER_01]: I just said, look, we can do a whole lot better and the idea of what is talk like normal people mean dumb it down is what I'm hearing there dumb it down is where Barack Obama's one of the few people I would include Pete Buttigieg in this who can be as nerdy as he wants and still be accessible to folks I think we just have to face the democratic need to hate people who only agree with each other on 85% of issues that's exactly exactly this is the whole thing of and and and

[SPEAKER_04]: Let it in earlier talked a little about this online talk about a little in the show.

[SPEAKER_04]: I think Mayor M. Taney He literally ran you know that cuz got into this discussion and there were people who were you know Throwing things and being obnoxious and saying oh yeah, well, it's better to live in New York City And I said it it yeah, I mean it's better maybe that especially for you know things like women's rights and and minority rights Then maybe like you know Alabama or Tennessee where you don't even get a vote now because they're Confederacy again, but

[SPEAKER_04]: Mayor Mandani literally ran on the fact of New York, you still get a vote. [SPEAKER_01]: You just don't get representation. [SPEAKER_04]: Right, and Tennessee, absolutely. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, but look, Mandani ran on New York City is great, but we can do better. [SPEAKER_04]: So let's make it better. [SPEAKER_04]: And then he got in and he's been working his ass off. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, yeah, he starts to make it.

[SPEAKER_01]: He's showing Democrats how to do it and he's showing Democrats how to get elected, running to the center is not going to work. [SPEAKER_01]: we are in a time when people need to be inspired and the ones who are going to do it and I'm not saying you have to clone Bernie Sanders, but that swinging for the fences energy of big ideas Donald Trump got there because he made big elaborate promises to dumb racist white people. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and again, you know,

[SPEAKER_01]: If Secretary Clinton had picked Bernie Sanders as her running mate, I'm sorry, none of this would be happening right now, because Democrats can be right on every issue morally intellectually and historically, but if there's not the enthusiasm, if there's not the rush, if there's not the excitement, you can't get people to get out of that, I mean, this is happening now because the folks who voted in 2020 didn't bother to show up when there wasn't a plague.

[SPEAKER_01]: They were out of a house and had better things to do than vote, now we're a war with a ram. [SPEAKER_04]: right well and and and then when you get somebody who has the the moral strength to come out and actually talk about [SPEAKER_04]: We've all been thrilled about Pope Bob. [SPEAKER_04]: Pull up Leopold technically, yes, but we, you know, Chicago Pope, Pope Bob.

[SPEAKER_04]: And Pope Bob, like lately, all he's been doing is, uh, this is a stupid war and, you know, God is not for wars. [SPEAKER_04]: Right. [SPEAKER_04]: We talked about when you're here last week, John. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Jesus, not in favor of killing. [SPEAKER_04]: I don't think that's very controversial, but obviously. [SPEAKER_01]: It's a very controversial song.

[SPEAKER_04]: Well, it's Donald, yeah, because he's like, you know, but I can kill people. [SPEAKER_04]: No. [SPEAKER_01]: To white Christian, I met to a lot of white Christian America is because they've had [SPEAKER_01]: Ever since Rome took over Jesus' start-up, and the trick is, you bring a guy and address in a funny hat to say a few words in Latin, and suddenly, your anti-Jesus' war is seemingly blessed by God, and this is the racket.

[SPEAKER_01]: And this is why it's terrible when organized, extremely conservative religion gets in bed with authoritarian politics. [SPEAKER_01]: That's literally what killed Jesus, and it's literally what's happening right now. [SPEAKER_01]: He's just quote in Jesus. [SPEAKER_01]: He's just stepping into the mic and doing Christianity 101 basics that like love your enemy put away your sword New list by the sword will die by the sword blessed not controversial.

[SPEAKER_01]: It's like don't eat the silica gel It's really basic stuff and that's what's making them crazy. [SPEAKER_01]: That's what you know the media Keep saying oh my Johnson and J.D. [SPEAKER_01]: Vance and Donald Trump and their battles with the Pope no [SPEAKER_01]: the Pope's just quoting Jesus. [SPEAKER_01]: These guys are fighting with Jesus. [SPEAKER_01]: And that is the framing we have to use going forward.

[SPEAKER_01]: They despise Jesus as a leader, but they value him as a tool for power. [SPEAKER_04]: Yes, amen. [SPEAKER_04]: And here's the thing. [SPEAKER_04]: It's even when he does have to describe things.

[SPEAKER_04]: Pope Leo happens to be very good at the same thing that Barack Obama was the same thing that people to judge is the same thing that Maryland Danny is the same thing that some degree at Hillary Clinton and Kamala Harris and you know we have a lot of Democrats who are pretty good at taking something educating the public a little bit so you understand what I'm going to talk about and then talking about it and then people go oh yeah I get it now now I get it like ten seconds ago I wasn't on board but now I understand what you're talking about.

[SPEAKER_04]: Great. [SPEAKER_04]: This is fine. [SPEAKER_04]: This is what people should be doing is educating a little bit, but doing it a normal speak. [SPEAKER_04]: Don't take, this is not a 20 minute seminar and some Democrats like to get out of the weeds. [SPEAKER_04]: I know we do. [SPEAKER_04]: We like policy. [SPEAKER_04]: It's fun. [SPEAKER_04]: It's neat, but not everybody does. [SPEAKER_04]: And that's all that that's all that Obama was saying.

[SPEAKER_04]: And in order to make things better, like Zarr and mom Danny went, you know what? [SPEAKER_04]: I'm going to do TikTok. [SPEAKER_04]: I'm going to go on the streets. [SPEAKER_04]: I'm going to ask people. [SPEAKER_04]: And when they say, hey, can we do this?

[UNKNOWN]: And [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I wish Obama had done his, you know, his story-time reading in the public school with Zora Mondani before the election, before the election, but you know what, I mean, look, it's great that it's there now, but this Pope, we should point out, just made a black man who's a famous son of a critic, the youngest of the [SPEAKER_01]: Bishop in America, Reverend Robert Boxy is only 41, and he's now going to be the Bishop of DC, young Bishop in the US.

[SPEAKER_01]: This was announced by Leo himself, and this guy is on the record saying that the attacks on DEI, [SPEAKER_01]: are on Christian. [SPEAKER_01]: And at the diversity, diversity is of God. [SPEAKER_01]: This is the archdiocese of Washington. [SPEAKER_01]: The men in these views are like headset, advanced in Rubio and Mike Johnson and Tom Holman in one third of this dirty six supreme court. [SPEAKER_01]: And Pope Leo just put a man who calls anti-DEI policies on Christian.

[SPEAKER_01]: In charge of their diocese. [SPEAKER_04]: I love he also did the the guy in West Virginia. [SPEAKER_04]: He put another, uh, Bishop another West Virginia who was an immigrant. [SPEAKER_01]: An immigrant. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, that was literally helped by wasn't wasn't he helped by like one of the the people who, uh, I think clerked for for Thomas or or something like that to get his citizenship. [SPEAKER_04]: It's like, they know the guy personally.

[SPEAKER_04]: He's like, he's just a short drive away West Virginia. [SPEAKER_04]: And now he's helping all the the immigrants there and they go, what? [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and while this is happening, Donald Trump is lying about this Pope saying that he wants Iran to have a new one. [SPEAKER_01]: He does not say that at this level of lying about popes. [SPEAKER_01]: Can you imagine if Joe Biden and Barack Obama kept repeating a lie about a pope?

[SPEAKER_01]: Can you imagine the media just saying, oh, that's just Tuesday. [SPEAKER_01]: That's just Biden being Biden. [SPEAKER_01]: Like Pope Leo has repeatedly said, no nations should have nuclear weapons. [SPEAKER_01]: But that gets into the really thority territory of who gets to have a weapon to defend themselves from attacks, especially when it's a nation We are in the midst of attacking Yeah, Iran's not going to launch nukes at other people.

[SPEAKER_01]: They don't want to get all blown up. [SPEAKER_01]: They want it for the same reason. [SPEAKER_01]: Israel wants it in Pakistan wanted it to keep themselves safe because America has this funny little Mac of overthrowing their rulers. [SPEAKER_01]: Eisenhower did it in 1992. [SPEAKER_01]: 1553 dead. [SPEAKER_01]: They used to have a democracy, Eisenhower put in their dictator, and then the religious cooks rose up and chased the dictator out.

[SPEAKER_01]: And that's why we're dealing with all this Republicans in Iran doing regime change, which, uh, man, baby is already back to away from. [SPEAKER_01]: He's no longer demanding regime change. [SPEAKER_01]: He was demanding a month ago that he would pick the new leader of Iran. [SPEAKER_01]: Now he is begging them, begging them to have Obama's exact deal in place again, begging them to let things go back to how they were before he broke it.

[SPEAKER_04]: except it's going to have obama's name washed off it because you can't have the black man's name on the same thing that he wanted you can't have your you can't have a black man's name in his home work.

[SPEAKER_01]: Oh man I caught such hell on say yeah I was on CNN over the weekend on Abby's beloved show with her all dough and I caught such hell over this because again we had a working piece with Iran no one talks about it Barack Obama [SPEAKER_01]: is the first person in history to earn his Nobel Peace Prize after he received it, but he did earn it and John Kerry and all the other nations.

[SPEAKER_01]: It wasn't just an American deal, and Donald Trump comes in and tears unilaterally, tears up a multinational deal that our military was swearing. [SPEAKER_01]: Iran was complying with. [SPEAKER_01]: So in any of these god lists, I wish you could, I could swear on your show. [SPEAKER_01]: Any of these schmucks. [SPEAKER_01]: You know, say the Obama deal was a fraud. [SPEAKER_01]: They are calling the military liars.

[SPEAKER_01]: Once again, the media and the Democrats don't have the guts to call that out. [SPEAKER_01]: So now they're just begging, begging to put the toothpaste back in the tube. [SPEAKER_01]: And they seem to think that gas prices won't be getting low enough by November, so they have to rig every election they can rig. [SPEAKER_01]: And John Roberts is there, the obedient aristocrat, destroying the black vote in the Confederate States, which has been his dream for years.

[SPEAKER_01]: John Roberts is like, inspectors, Jav Ver, and lay mis-erabla, chasing John, Val-John for decades, 2013. [SPEAKER_01]: They got in section five with the pre-clearance rules. [SPEAKER_01]: And now this and right away, right away, all these, I mean, the voting, right sect. [SPEAKER_01]: This was past because American people protested and marched and bled and were beaten and died for the right to vote.

[SPEAKER_01]: And these dirty six, five of whom were appointed by presidents who got the White House without winning the popular vote. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay, the people didn't choose five of them and one of them by a president who actually opposed the 1964 Civil Rights Act. [SPEAKER_01]: And they're telling us now, oh, voting right, it's gone a little too far.

[SPEAKER_01]: little too far and so this is their logic right race conscious college admissions to address his store discrimination that's illegal right race conscious voting maps to address historic racist vote dilution well that's illegal [SPEAKER_01]: But race conscious immigrant crackdowns, that's fine. [SPEAKER_01]: Race conscious policing, go for it. [SPEAKER_01]: Race conscious travel bands have at it, y'all. [SPEAKER_01]: Do you notice this Supreme Court?

[SPEAKER_01]: They only believe we have to be colorblind when it's a policy that helps minorities. [SPEAKER_01]: If it's a policy that hurts minorities, they don't think we should be colorblind at all.

[SPEAKER_01]: And then you got Roberts whining and complaining, how dare you say that we're politicians shut up this is going in his obituary This this this godless sweater vest aristocrat and again, it's so important to remember whether an awful president George W. Bush was you know the worst thing Trump has done is make us forget how awful Bush was

[SPEAKER_01]: The worst thing Bush did was make us forget how bad his dad was, but a leecho and robbers are going to be there to remind us that we are still paying for the majority voting against Bush, and we still got Bush anyway. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean right away, they ruled us down and like these Confederate states are they're acting like a bunch of raccoons and someone left the dumpster open. [SPEAKER_01]: They're just like, yeah, let's roll the race.

[SPEAKER_01]: It's like racist, cool, they demand bursting down a wall and say, oh yeah, we can Jerry Man do again. [SPEAKER_01]: And right away, it starts in one day and it only only targets majority black voting districts. [SPEAKER_01]: Right. [SPEAKER_01]: Only. [SPEAKER_01]: And it's not even it's it's it's it's it's it's it's a racist Instagram filter is what it is. [SPEAKER_01]: It's all called even wider.

[SPEAKER_04]: And the thing that the mainstream media is still missing is the fact that Democrats have made it very clear. [SPEAKER_04]: Even people like to came Jeffries have come out and said, fine, then everywhere we can do the same thing. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, we're going to. [SPEAKER_08]: And we're going to have the voter's approval first, too. [SPEAKER_04]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_01]: And I'm sorry, Democrats. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, I'm not a Democrat. [SPEAKER_01]: I forget that sometimes.

[SPEAKER_04]: Sorry. [SPEAKER_04]: That's OK. You're part of the broad left, which literally is basically what Barack Obama was saying to Stephen Colbert. [SPEAKER_08]: It's a good way. [SPEAKER_04]: It's a good way. [SPEAKER_04]: It's a good way. [SPEAKER_04]: It's a good way. [SPEAKER_04]: It's a good way. [SPEAKER_08]: It's a good way.

[SPEAKER_01]: Imagine you're in Alabama and you've already voted and they come to you today and say, sorry, you're voting no longer counts because we moved your district into a swamp behind the cracker barrel. [SPEAKER_01]: Like that's today. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: I will never forgive. [SPEAKER_04]: I didn't I wasn't planning on forgiving John Robert anyway, but I ain't gonna forgive him for any of this.

[SPEAKER_04]: This is Anyway, look, we got more news to talk about from the news on tap John Hugo saying is here, which we all we can blame John Roberts for the Iraq War and the Iran War if you want to get particular Correct. [SPEAKER_04]: Oh, yeah, that's definitely going on his sheet that he had when he goes to the pearly gates.

[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, he's definitely getting assessed today [SPEAKER_01]: They're gonna get rid of Jim Clyburn's entire district, like he's gonna be out of Congress, not because of age, but because the map looks like an octopus having a stroke now. [SPEAKER_04]: I know. [SPEAKER_04]: I know, look more with John and Jodie and me and you. [SPEAKER_04]: Here's politics bar, hang on. [SPEAKER_07]: We'll be right back after we pay some bills at the politics bar.

[SPEAKER_04]: How did we get to last call so fast already, Jody? [SPEAKER_04]: It happens. [SPEAKER_04]: I know. [SPEAKER_04]: I'm like, what the hell? [SPEAKER_04]: John Fugus, I hang in with Jody and me and you on the Thursday night here at the politics bar. [SPEAKER_04]: Thank you everybody who is listening to us on all of our great radio stations on the podcast players.

[SPEAKER_04]: I love that.

[SPEAKER_04]: Hey, if you have an extra billion despair, I'm not, I'm, you know, I'm not opposed to taking that kind of money for it. [SPEAKER_08]: Well, we don't need all of it. [SPEAKER_08]: Just a scoosh. [SPEAKER_01]: There was 200 million and then it was 400 million, but now that we're paying for it, oh, it's a billion price doubled overnight. [SPEAKER_08]: Oh, it's $1.4 billion because with the donors, it's technically $1.4 billion. [SPEAKER_04]: Show it.

[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: See, look, that's why you need the discounts at the politicsbar.com. [SPEAKER_04]: You go. [SPEAKER_04]: We've got it right there underneath the first round in the news on tap. [SPEAKER_04]: We'll put it out in the socials as well. [SPEAKER_04]: That way you can get the podcast, add free, get the drink of the day and the news on tap. [SPEAKER_08]: And by the way, when I say donors, I meant bribers. [SPEAKER_04]: Yes, exactly, bribery is the the name of the game when it comes to the Trump regime.

[SPEAKER_04]: I, yeah, we've got a whole section on corruption today in the news on tap, which you guys can read and you will shake your head, Jack Smith at a private net and you see literally calling out the DJ as being corrupted, look at the corruption is what they do.

[SPEAKER_04]: it is disgusting cash-patel and his giving everybody branded bottles of bourbon and it's like an and long time people have been in FBO again and still selling merch on his website and head of FBI staff are still selling his hoodies and such yeah.

[SPEAKER_01]: all of it all of it i mean taking a four hundred million dollar airplane bribe i mean from the kataris and and jeff dazos is still not done bribing this family jeff dazos just gave what seventy five million dollars for this propaganda video about this no talent racist wifah is that nobody watched but it didn't matter it wasn't done to to you know be a work of art it was done to be a bribe and now i mean if you guys

[SPEAKER_01]: heard that like they might be rebooting the show that helps trick millions of Americans into believing Trump is a business man in the first place. [SPEAKER_01]: Don Jr. [SPEAKER_01]: The rumor is that Don Jr. might star on a rebooted version of the apprentice. [SPEAKER_01]: This trust fund sweaty, cocared neppo baby, giving fake business. [SPEAKER_01]: What's Don Jr. going to teach? [SPEAKER_01]: How do we inherit money? [SPEAKER_01]: Is that what it's going to be?

[SPEAKER_01]: You're fired. [SPEAKER_01]: My dad says so. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I mean, Don June you're always looks like he just got kicked out of a buffalo wild wings for screaming at the waitress. [SPEAKER_01]: Amazon is just a loyalty program for authoritarians right now, but all of this is just Jeff Bezos jingling his keys in front of Trump saying don't investigate my contracts don't investigate my contracts because when he used to criticize Trump in the post.

[SPEAKER_04]: I don't think it'll get me, but if it did, it would go on CBS, which is, of course, No, no, it's going to go on Amazon. [SPEAKER_01]: No, Amazon, it'll go on Amazon. [SPEAKER_01]: We're nobody will watch because they'll have a host with all the petulence and none of the charisma.

[SPEAKER_04]: Just it's just so it is so maddening that and then sometimes so this goes into the discussion we were talking about earlier that I've been having before we got to the bar tonight about how some of the purer than thou on the left were just bashing Obama and you know blah, blah, blah and saying you know if you say something like Marco Rubio did his job [SPEAKER_01]: Or you're saying well, what do you mean by did his job?

[SPEAKER_01]: I don't want to be on the side of the Naibops, but I mean, what do you mean did his job? [SPEAKER_04]: He is a secretary of state. [SPEAKER_04]: He's supposed to meet with other actual people that are leaders and have dipped right. [SPEAKER_01]: That tells me that his job is helping to stop this war, but they don't want to actually stop the war. [SPEAKER_01]: They want the gas prices to go down, so these two real estate douchebags are over there doing Marco Rubio's job.

[SPEAKER_01]: To me, [SPEAKER_01]: sending off Marco over to the pope is just a matter of a formality in a little bit of damage control I don't think that's the secretary of state's job. [SPEAKER_01]: I get what you're saying about the purity test liprals who I who I blame for roe v. Wade not being there anymore right um you know and I'm as lefty as they come but come on guys you live in a swing state you don't get to vote Jill Stein anymore. [SPEAKER_04]: Thank you.

[SPEAKER_04]: And this is, and this is the thing of saying there are, there are degrees. [SPEAKER_04]: There are variances of just because I'm saying, oh, well, congratulations. [SPEAKER_04]: Marco Rubel was doing his job instead of the other five jobs he has today. [SPEAKER_04]: He was doing the primary job that he has, and they go, well, you love him. [SPEAKER_04]: No, no, no, I actually don't.

[SPEAKER_04]: If I'm saying, hey, somebody was found to be guilty of doing something that they shouldn't in the Trump regime, and they're like,

[SPEAKER_04]: Oh yeah, it's it's it's like it's all a hundred percent one way or the other and I'm going my god There are so many variations of gray that you've got a I'm I want to be better I don't want things to be worse just because things are Worse doesn't mean they can't get worse than worse just because things are getting better doesn't mean they're the best that they can be [SPEAKER_01]: It's almost like the ballroom's not making you happy, Sean. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't understand it.

[SPEAKER_01]: So beautiful. [SPEAKER_01]: He's doing it for you. [SPEAKER_04]: I've got enough ballroom. [SPEAKER_04]: Thank you very much. [SPEAKER_04]: Oh! [SPEAKER_04]: Oh! [SPEAKER_04]: That's the same. [SPEAKER_04]: Why not? [SPEAKER_08]: I don't think you want to write down to his knees. [SPEAKER_08]: I know that his right down to his knees. [SPEAKER_04]: Actually, actually one of our regularers over here is has been been saying, Joey, please don't talk about Donald's ballroom.

[SPEAKER_08]: It's, well, his balls are down to his knees. [SPEAKER_01]: This is imagery no one needs, Jody. [SPEAKER_01]: I hate to agree. [SPEAKER_01]: There's nothing I hate more than agreeing with Sean. [SPEAKER_01]: You know this. [SPEAKER_01]: We talk about him behind his back all the time. [SPEAKER_01]: But it's imagery no one needs, dear. [SPEAKER_01]: When I can't sleep tonight, I'll be thinking of you. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I always say empty, right? [SPEAKER_04]: Always empty.

[SPEAKER_04]: John Louise, just saying. [SPEAKER_04]: But yeah, it's, look, I want things to be better. [SPEAKER_04]: And I want things not to be worse. [SPEAKER_04]: So I'm like, if things don't get, you know, if they aren't horrendous, have we dropped a nuke on someone today? [SPEAKER_04]: No, yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Good thing. [SPEAKER_04]: Right, and somebody says, well, you're not, I'm like, I'm saying that's a good thing. [SPEAKER_04]: I'm trying to be positive.

[SPEAKER_04]: I'm trying to look on the positive side of things. [SPEAKER_08]: Like, Eric, Eric, Eric? [SPEAKER_04]: Oh, God. [SPEAKER_04]: Well, she actually tries to look on the J.D. [SPEAKER_04]: Vance side of things. [SPEAKER_01]: Hmm. [SPEAKER_01]: I think you've seen that latest video, her rhythm nation, her girl's video made for Etsy with the rhythm nation. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, where she's dressed like a European assassin with a silencer.

[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, like, who I had to talk about this over the weekend on CNN and on a panel with her rollo and wow, I mean, [SPEAKER_01]: I felt so dirty when I walked out. [SPEAKER_01]: I was kind of attacked for it. [SPEAKER_01]: I was really happy to see this comment when viral and got a lot of support, but I mean, this whole fetishization and reverence for Erica Kirk. [SPEAKER_01]: What happened to her husband was her rific?

[SPEAKER_01]: The political violence is evil, murder is evil, I mean, if it happened to my husband, I would have come out and talked about hard questions about gun access and radicalization and violent rhetoric. [SPEAKER_01]: If we had a law that said you have to store your guns in the home, then her husband never would have been shot, Sandy Hook never would have happened either, but no one wants to talk about that. [SPEAKER_01]: She's becoming the megan McCain of grievance cosplay.

[SPEAKER_01]: And this video where she blames liberals for everything, bad, even though her husband was shot by an independent from a Republican family, Trump's first assassin, that kid was a Republican, his second assassin on the golf course was a guy who had voted for Trump. [SPEAKER_01]: But it's the liberals, the ones who seek gun safety laws that are bad.

[SPEAKER_01]: And then she said that there's a serious, because Drewski did a video of her, and she doesn't understand that white face, [SPEAKER_01]: isn't a historic means of beating up on a minority, and that white face is not in any way a Pajard of towards a historically oppressed group, but she said that there is a serious epidemic of Dehumanization in this country, and I'm like lady

[SPEAKER_01]: you run turning point USA, you run the website that portrays teachers as groomers and Democrats hate America and LGBTQ people want to rape your kids and journalists and professors and blibrarians. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, this lady spends years with her group pouring gas on the culture war and then she wants to blame somebody else for the smoke and being angry at comedians. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, she wants the public celebrity. [SPEAKER_01]: She wants the power.

[SPEAKER_01]: If you choose to be the CEO of a multi-million dollar political machine, that pretty much exists to normalize white supremacy to college kids, then comics get to make jokes. [SPEAKER_01]: That's not persecution. [SPEAKER_01]: Her husband mocked the Paul Pelosi hammer attack. [SPEAKER_01]: Her husband loved the violence of Kyle Rittenhouse from the violence of the January 6 terrorists.

[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I don't have to go to all the racist and anti-Semitic and homophobic things [SPEAKER_01]: No one's dehumanizing her, she's being scrutinized because she's doing propaganda videos where she uses personal tragedy as a shield against criticism. [SPEAKER_01]: Every criticism is now persecution and it's like this is her entire business. [SPEAKER_01]: is radicalization with merch.

[SPEAKER_01]: They are grievance merchants who use Jesus to get power while doing the opposite of everything Jesus Christ says in that book they use as a prop. [SPEAKER_01]: They cause play as a Christian organization and I'm tired of it man. [SPEAKER_01]: They're not a ministry. [SPEAKER_01]: They're up. [SPEAKER_01]: They're a white supremacy grievance sweatshop. [SPEAKER_08]: Well, my favorite thing about her and people like her and I'm saying it to the women.

[SPEAKER_08]: She's like, be a tradwife. [SPEAKER_08]: Stay home. [SPEAKER_08]: Don't work. [SPEAKER_08]: I'm sorry, but you're working. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: That was her husband. [SPEAKER_01]: Her husband said women shouldn't work. [SPEAKER_01]: They should stay at home and serve their husband and raise children. [SPEAKER_01]: And then he marries her, which tells us something very crucial.

[SPEAKER_01]: We don't know how many of these people actually believe the garbage they spew right like these Joe web ons these Micropenist Christian Nationalist preachers talking about how women shouldn't have the vote blah blah blah we don't even know how much they actually mean it and how much they're just out there being what Jesus might call Fisher's a very mediocre men

[SPEAKER_01]: you know what I mean like they say that the flat earth society just exists so white supremacists control the most gullible people in the world and try to get them to join their groups right i mean so much of this is just doing it for the clicks hatred for the clicks misogyny against women for the clicks you know and they don't care what the human told of it is but none of it none of it as anything to do with Jesus and that's why i'm sorry man we have to call out these fake christian men call them out

[SPEAKER_04]: Amen. [SPEAKER_04]: I'm glad I'm glad, I mean obviously with your first book separation of church and hate, and I know you're working in something similar a little bit more extended. [SPEAKER_01]: And it's more about people like this than next book. [SPEAKER_04]: Good. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Because people like this should be called out for this. [SPEAKER_04]: I, you know, it is, it is disgusting. [SPEAKER_04]: Does it mean that they don't have to be conservative?

[SPEAKER_04]: Does it mean that they don't even have a fight? [SPEAKER_01]: They're not conservative. [SPEAKER_01]: I know not. [SPEAKER_04]: I know not. [SPEAKER_04]: Bruce Bartlin, I have argued about that many times, and he's like, no, they're not. [SPEAKER_04]: And I said, I agree with you. [SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, they're right-wing. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, exactly. [SPEAKER_04]: They they can be right wing and still be less hateful.

[SPEAKER_01]: They conservatives were really nice people who are wrong about everything Remember childhood kids. [SPEAKER_01]: They were still wrong about everything, but they were so nice We got along Right, that's now [SPEAKER_01]: Thank you, Mr. Trump, for lying to us that rich people would pay for the ballroom. [SPEAKER_01]: And thank you for lying to us that Mexico would pay for the wall. [SPEAKER_01]: And thanks for lying to us that you'd release all the Epstein files.

[SPEAKER_01]: And thanks for promising no new wars in the Middle East. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, that's it. [SPEAKER_01]: It's just about power and the illusion of control. [SPEAKER_01]: And that inflation would be down. [SPEAKER_01]: They love being lied to. [SPEAKER_01]: They're like a tragic girl at a frat party. [SPEAKER_04]: They are. [SPEAKER_08]: You're not wrong.

[SPEAKER_04]: and this is this is the thing is you go well that's great but we can do better and part of the ways that we can do better is we have to tell people we have to educate them a little bit it doesn't mean be professorial but it means educate people and yes I use the word professor are you all in everybody here knows exactly what the hell I was talking about when I said you don't need to talk like a teacher right

[SPEAKER_01]: Look, all this is redistricting is happening because Republicans know the demographic reality is finally catching up with their party and younger voters are more diverse and urban voters are more progressive and the country is changing and instead of broadening their appeal they want to just redraw democracy until it [SPEAKER_01]: stops bothering them. [SPEAKER_01]: That's why their maps always target the same folks, right?

[SPEAKER_01]: Black folks, urban voters, young voters, college students, immigrants, towns with colleges. [SPEAKER_01]: The same fact is all about limiting women's vote. [SPEAKER_01]: Anyone likely to oppose them because they know their policies suck out loud. [SPEAKER_01]: They know that they're going to get creamed in the midterms, so they're trying anything they can do to change whose votes count. [SPEAKER_04]: A man. [SPEAKER_04]: 100%.

[SPEAKER_04]: Look, that was really what the Confederacy in many ways was about. [SPEAKER_04]: And they still have changed. [SPEAKER_01]: Little worse. [SPEAKER_01]: Little worse, maybe. [SPEAKER_01]: Little worse. [SPEAKER_01]: Little worse. [SPEAKER_01]: But yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: We can do better than that. [SPEAKER_01]: Hey, man. [SPEAKER_01]: There are evil cosplayers. [SPEAKER_01]: These people are like Confederate fan fiction. [SPEAKER_01]: They were, they were. [SPEAKER_01]: They were.

[SPEAKER_01]: They were. [SPEAKER_01]: They were. [SPEAKER_01]: They were. [SPEAKER_01]: They were. [SPEAKER_01]: They were. [SPEAKER_01]: They were. [SPEAKER_01]: They were. [SPEAKER_01]: They were. [SPEAKER_04]: I agree. [SPEAKER_04]: John is right and John is right, pretty much every night of the week you can listen to it over on Sirius XM. [SPEAKER_04]: Of course you can find his sub-stack.

[SPEAKER_04]: We have a link to his great new piece about the spirit airlines in the politics bars, news on tap today. [SPEAKER_04]: John, have fun next Tuesday nights and we will see you next Thursday right back here at the politics bar.
