[SPEAKER_04]: the bar is political thank you credit card where you are the politics bar shocksmith Pearson Jody Hamilton hey Jody hey Sean how you doing I'm okay how you doing you know honestly it is a little bit hot at this end of the bar and it is a very cooler and you know look you had it how did you're in you sent it this way that's fine the fact that our bar stretches from coast to coast and around the world
[SPEAKER_04]: And makes it difficult to heat and cool the entire thing, you know, correctly. [SPEAKER_04]: But we aim to please hear the politics bar as, as all of you know, thank you, by the way, for all of you who are listening on all of our great radio stations. [SPEAKER_04]: Whether you are listening on WCPT, AMA 20 in Chicago, maybe you're listening on AM-950, Minneapolis Saint Paul. [SPEAKER_04]: Good folks there as well.
[SPEAKER_04]: Maybe you are in the Georgia area around Atlanta listening on Georgia now. [SPEAKER_04]: Maybe you are listening in Tennessee. [SPEAKER_04]: I'm a detour talk. [SPEAKER_04]: Maybe you're somewhere else on planet Earth, or maybe you're on the space station. [SPEAKER_04]: You're not even on the planet. [SPEAKER_04]: and you're listening on progressive voices radio wide. [SPEAKER_04]: Or you could be one of those people. [SPEAKER_04]: No, I don't mean those people.
[SPEAKER_04]: Those people, the future people. [SPEAKER_07]: Right. [SPEAKER_04]: Which we like the future people. [SPEAKER_04]: We just, we continue to wish that you future people would send us the lottery number. [SPEAKER_07]: Yes, please. [SPEAKER_04]: You know, or at least, you know, baseball scores, although honestly, it's been pretty easy this week. [SPEAKER_04]: There it is. [SPEAKER_04]: There you go.
[SPEAKER_04]: See. [SPEAKER_04]: That's pretty sure that the Dodgers are going to win last night. [SPEAKER_04]: Wipped up on the mats, eight and a row of the mats have lost. [SPEAKER_07]: Sorry, Matt. [SPEAKER_07]: I'm so sorry, guys. [SPEAKER_04]: I am, and I'm not. [SPEAKER_04]: I mean, because, you know, the Dodgers winning makes you happy. [SPEAKER_07]: It does, but still the mats.
[SPEAKER_04]: You feel bad for them, but at the same time, it's kind of like somebody who chooses to pick a fight with the Pope. [SPEAKER_07]: Oh, I don't think that. [SPEAKER_04]: You're like, well, okay. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_07]: Don't pick a fight. [SPEAKER_07]: When you're a JD Vance, and you say, when you want to talk about theology, to the Pope. [SPEAKER_04]: Right. [SPEAKER_04]: That's a... [SPEAKER_04]: moment.
[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, that's that's he's he's the leader of your new religion JD. [SPEAKER_04]: It's kind of like it's kind of like going to a restaurant and the the cook of the chef comes out and you're like [SPEAKER_04]: Man, the idiot in the back doesn't know what the hell they're doing and you're saying this to them, and really I can guarantee you your food will be slamshady to that point. [SPEAKER_07]: So just it's just like it's just He's the pope. [SPEAKER_07]: He knows popping.
[SPEAKER_07]: He knows that theology. [SPEAKER_07]: He knows this dogma. [SPEAKER_07]: He knows exactly. [SPEAKER_04]: This is what he does the idea of a Pope Bob like whoa exactly Chris exactly job. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I mean, theology is literally theology, morality. [SPEAKER_04]: It's a joke. [SPEAKER_04]: It's a joke. [SPEAKER_04]: Yes, Joe, he's right. [SPEAKER_04]: So, any, welcome to all of you who are here in the bar of this by the way.
[SPEAKER_04]: It is Thursday night, and John Fughalsang is going to be back in the next days with people. [SPEAKER_07]: Feel theologians? [SPEAKER_04]: Well, yeah, I mean, like today. [SPEAKER_07]: See you in the next Thursday. [SPEAKER_04]: Oh, interesting. [SPEAKER_04]: Well, look, I mean, it's one of those things. [SPEAKER_04]: I mean, this is Christian theology. [SPEAKER_04]: There's, you know, there's a Jewish theology, Muslim theology.
[SPEAKER_04]: There's all kinds of, there's general theology. [SPEAKER_04]: It's great. [SPEAKER_04]: This is just, you know, obviously focusing on the Pope, because the dumbass Donnie and his cabal of morons, have decided to go to war with the Pope. [SPEAKER_04]: which is just stupid. [SPEAKER_04]: We've got the details in the news on tap. [SPEAKER_04]: Obviously, we're going to jump down to the second round today, start there on their unfit for service.
[SPEAKER_04]: So other Trump lands war with the Pope. [SPEAKER_04]: Um, did you hear about this one? [SPEAKER_04]: In fact, I know you did because you sent me a version of it and I had a version of it too. [SPEAKER_04]: Trump yanking millions of Catholic charity. [SPEAKER_07]: Are you kidding me? [SPEAKER_07]: Really?
[SPEAKER_07]: It's over 50 years that they've been to 60 years now that they've been [SPEAKER_04]: I'm siding with you, but on the ass, and if you don't do what I want, I'm just getting yanked this funding. [SPEAKER_04]: Um, that's literally not how we do things in the room. [SPEAKER_04]: We're not supposed to. [SPEAKER_04]: Once again, Jodie's right. [SPEAKER_07]: It's just it's petty. [SPEAKER_07]: It's petty. [SPEAKER_07]: It's childlike childish. [SPEAKER_04]: It's not childlike.
[SPEAKER_04]: It's childish. [SPEAKER_04]: Small-minded, small-hearted, um, bully. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, yeah, just it shows everybody how small of a peen you have as as Jojo says which he doesn't mean look dot Donald does have a bit we don't told to say in stormy can confirm mushroom head here but I'm just saying that the whole thing is that that Donald is I mean look he's he's not tiny Johnson but what a tiny Johnson's over to house
[SPEAKER_04]: say, maybe he is because I don't, anyway, I'm, I'm not judging whatever you do you, but uh, hopefully you're by the way, uh, big hearted, uh, big man, uh, obviously. [SPEAKER_04]: And I made this feud with Trump condemned the tyrants who, here's his quote, manipulate religion and the very name of God for, actually wait a minute here. [SPEAKER_04]: I think I've got this on the DVR.
[SPEAKER_04]: Let me actually let the Pope himself say what he said about, well, tyrants like Donald Trump. [SPEAKER_04]: Yep. [SPEAKER_01]: wall to those who manipulate religion in the very name of God for their own military economic or political gain, dragging that which is sacred into darkness and filth, the work that's being ravaged by a handful of tyrants, it is held together by a multitude of supportive brothers and sisters.
[SPEAKER_04]: Well, and if he did, he'd probably go to Chicago because, you know, got to go home have some pizza, I kind of think. [SPEAKER_07]: Well, we have good deep dish here. [SPEAKER_07]: We have Chicago style here. [SPEAKER_04]: Well, we have, we have both. [SPEAKER_04]: We have all the good foods here, because this is America. [SPEAKER_04]: We have people from every corner of the world here, including people who happen to make movies like, for example, I don't know, pulp fiction, maybe.
[SPEAKER_04]: That's Johnny Percy's real hips. [SPEAKER_04]: How dumb do you have to be? [SPEAKER_04]: To be somebody like Pete Kegbreth and claiming that a biblical Bible verse is, well, it's not. [SPEAKER_04]: He's claiming that a line from Pope fiction is a biblical Bible verse. [SPEAKER_04]: I wonder, make sure I get it right, yes.
[SPEAKER_04]: So the original verse, Kay breath had his, his monthly Pentagon prayer service, which I've told you about that I know a few people who are, that really just wrinkles the hell out of them. [SPEAKER_04]: I would imagine that a lot of the rank and file folks, you've got 10 to 15,000 people who work at the five-sided building here in DC into the bar. [SPEAKER_04]: They are people from every corner and every walk. [SPEAKER_04]: And they should be. [SPEAKER_04]: Right, exactly.
[SPEAKER_04]: They're the best of the best of what they do, most of them, other than some of the ones who have their jobs because they happen to kiss up to Trump's ass, which normally we don't have, but most of them are some of the best people in their fields doing whatever they do. [SPEAKER_04]: That's great. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, congratulations. [SPEAKER_04]: Thank you very much.
[SPEAKER_04]: But. [SPEAKER_04]: they get pissed when you try to bring in theology into their work because their work is all about numbers and data, probabilities, preparation, logistics, has nothing to do with the [SPEAKER_07]: Or at least we're not supposed to be. [SPEAKER_04]: No, we're not. [SPEAKER_04]: We're not. [SPEAKER_04]: We're not officially. [SPEAKER_04]: Because a crusade, you know, like if you're talking about Middle East, you know, I'm not Middle East, Middle Ages.
[SPEAKER_04]: You know, I got Middle Ages, well, and it was the Crusades were in the Middle East. [SPEAKER_04]: They were wars. [SPEAKER_04]: And we are not officially in a war, even though Donald has called it a war and we don't know it's a war. [SPEAKER_04]: It's a war.
[SPEAKER_04]: but in order to be a crusade it would have to be well back then it was official because the king decreed it now would have to be official because the congress decreed it congress did not in fact decree any of that in fact if you go up in the first round of the news on tap uh... you can see by the way that uh... in the political cost of the aran war house republicans blocked the war power resolution um...
[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know how much longer they're going to be able to do that. [SPEAKER_04]: Some Republicans are getting a little bit itchy on that. [SPEAKER_04]: The Senate blocked the Democrats yesterday, so Democrats are still keeping pushing on this. [SPEAKER_07]: As they should, because it shows the Republicans who are running for reelection to their constituents that they're willing to go along with Donnie. [SPEAKER_04]: Oh, they're they're willing to just shut up.
[SPEAKER_04]: Okay, sure, whatever we in fact have a piece on that. [SPEAKER_04]: Under the political cost of the Iran war in group chats and meetings, Republicans are privately petrified. [SPEAKER_04]: The Iran war will cost them the midterms. [SPEAKER_04]: Well, congratulations, morons. [SPEAKER_04]: You finally woke up. [SPEAKER_04]: Congrats. [SPEAKER_04]: Wow. [SPEAKER_04]: Now you're going to do something about it. [SPEAKER_04]: Of course they won't.
[SPEAKER_04]: New Quinnipiac poll out today shows most Americans are correctly blaming Trump of the Republicans for the high gas prices and the high prices of everything else. [SPEAKER_04]: And another new poll shows that Trump is hemorrhaging support from Latinos over the war and immigration and the economy, which of course is tied to the war, so congratulations. [SPEAKER_04]: Good job there, Donnie. [SPEAKER_04]: Somebody that Bella knows was just deployed.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, you said that yesterday, which I'm like, that's... [SPEAKER_04]: And who knows what's going to happen. [SPEAKER_04]: Donald today said that that, oh, well, you know, we, we might have a, he announced before even Israel or Lebanon had the chance to announce it a 10 day ceasefire. [SPEAKER_04]: The current ceasefire, by the way, that we have with a ran, we've got six more days on that thing. [SPEAKER_04]: Now, we all know that Donald has been manipulating the markets.
[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, totally. [SPEAKER_04]: Well, right. [SPEAKER_04]: And markets hit record highs. [SPEAKER_04]: uh... when said was it last night all we're pretty close when it all came at the morning all we're whatever but the fact of matter is gas prices still triple a gas price nationally they was four dollars nine point three cents uh... it's down one penny from yesterday but it's still whatever it sits um... depending on where you go in my neighborhood if you're lucky it's under six dollars
[SPEAKER_04]: Oh yeah, west coast basically everybody west of the Rockies, you're looking at significantly higher costs as far as that goes, which it wasn't the case, but it is. [SPEAKER_07]: Let me count for you. [SPEAKER_07]: We do things to our gasoline, which makes it go up because it's cleaner. [SPEAKER_04]: Right. [SPEAKER_04]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_04]: And there are some states and territories and areas that have higher gas taxes.
[SPEAKER_04]: And, of course, some of the Republican ones have temporarily pulled the gas taxes, except they're going to have to put the gas taxes. [SPEAKER_04]: I know that you don't do that. [SPEAKER_07]: That's what happened when Governor before Schwarzenegger, who's. [SPEAKER_04]: Oh, yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Now, yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: That's right. [SPEAKER_04]: It's been happening. [SPEAKER_07]: When happened was he lowered the registration fees for cars.
[SPEAKER_07]: right and people got used to it for a few years and then he just put him back up to where they were and people got all angry and it's like dude I was an angry. [SPEAKER_07]: I'm like no, it was a it was a vacation. [SPEAKER_07]: It wasn't a No, I remember that. [SPEAKER_04]: Great Davis. [SPEAKER_04]: That's what his name is. [SPEAKER_04]: That's who it was. [SPEAKER_07]: And I was like, why is everybody mad at him for doing what he said he was gonna do?
[SPEAKER_04]: Because they don't like how it actually feels they don't like how things actually happen to roll out [SPEAKER_04]: And this is the thing is, this is where that fight with a Pope gets into people are very devoted to their ideologies to their religions. [SPEAKER_04]: I got no issues with that. [SPEAKER_04]: That's fine. [SPEAKER_04]: That's a good thing. [SPEAKER_04]: But here's the thing. [SPEAKER_04]: People really don't like it when you twist and mess up their beliefs.
[SPEAKER_04]: It's like making fun of where somebody is from when I was a kid and we moved to Iowa for a few years and then we moved back to Nebraska. [SPEAKER_04]: And some of the kids there were, oh, you were an eye-weegin. [SPEAKER_04]: You're not, I'm like, I was born at the hospital right over here and Lincoln. [SPEAKER_04]: They're like, no, you're an eye-weegin. [SPEAKER_04]: I'm like, well, first of all, it's eye-when you get it.
[SPEAKER_04]: And I wasn't really, I was just, I'm going, you know, it's eye-when, not eye-weegin. [SPEAKER_04]: But of course, the kids are doing it on purpose. [SPEAKER_04]: Of course. [SPEAKER_04]: Just like, you know, somebody says, oh, cross dude. [SPEAKER_04]: And then somebody else goes, excuse me, Christian. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, sure thing, cross dude, whatever. [SPEAKER_04]: And that'll make right. [SPEAKER_04]: I've heard that.
[SPEAKER_04]: I've heard that used as an insult to somebody who's a Christian. [SPEAKER_04]: I've never heard that. [SPEAKER_04]: You're the cross dude people. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: I heard that what's well, it's designed to piss somebody off. [SPEAKER_04]: Which I look at and I go, you don't mess with somebody's belief system quite like that. [SPEAKER_04]: They, especially people you don't know.
[SPEAKER_04]: And that's basically, and if you lie about it and claim that it's the actual thing. [SPEAKER_04]: Oh, yeah, see, I have the book of Jebis. [SPEAKER_04]: And right, look, we got to talk about Pete Kegreth and his ridiculousness that goes right along with Pope fiction. [SPEAKER_04]: Pope fiction is not the Bible, by the way. [SPEAKER_04]: So if you love it very much, I understand, but it is not the Bible. [SPEAKER_04]: And the Christian Bible, or any other Bible for that matter.
[SPEAKER_04]: So filmmaking Bible, maybe, but we'll talk about that. [SPEAKER_04]: Uh, look, uh, it is a Thursday night, John Fugle's angle be here. [SPEAKER_04]: We have a really good drink to celebrate an amazing actor, and we'll talk about that as well. [SPEAKER_04]: Of course, Jody and I are here hanging out with you, and if you need a news t-shirt, and get your politics bar t-shirt at thepoliticsbar store.com.
[SPEAKER_04]: Fresh in your drink and come right back on a Thursday night at the politics bar. [SPEAKER_12]: We'll be right back after we pay some bills at the politics bar. [SPEAKER_04]: In his Thursday nights, here's the politics bar. [SPEAKER_04]: We hope your week has been going, okay?

[SPEAKER_04]: It's the politics bar.
[SPEAKER_04]: Thanks by the way, do everybody also who reaches out to us on the bar line and on the social media bar line 213 6777 7258 That's 213 6777 7258 or 213 677 salt like in your margarita or on your chips or whatever you put salt on thanks by the way If you're stopping by our social media pages and replying and leaving messages there as well blue sky and threads, Instagram Facebook, Substack, Twitter and YouTube [SPEAKER_04]: is where you're at right now.
[SPEAKER_07]: And we do know that blue skies have been having issues since at least 3 AM LA time. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, blue skies had issues on and off all freaking out. [SPEAKER_04]: I don't know what the issue is with that. [SPEAKER_04]: I do know by the way, one of our friends, Mary, had an absolutely perfect comment today, Mary, Mary Trump.
[SPEAKER_04]: She was, um, over on Twitter and she just said, who among us has not mistaken the holy words of Quentin Tarantino's Pulp fiction for biblical scripture. [SPEAKER_04]: And I have to say, [SPEAKER_04]: Oh my, did you, when you, when you saw this today were you like, wait, no, and then I was like, no, yeah. [SPEAKER_14]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: No. [SPEAKER_04]: No. [SPEAKER_04]: Okay. [SPEAKER_04]: For those of you who missed it.
[SPEAKER_04]: So Kegbrath had his little prayer party at the Pentagon. [SPEAKER_04]: And he was supposedly quoting Ezekiel 25 17 note. [SPEAKER_04]: Now, well, we'll have to ask John Fiegel saying, obviously the ecclesiastical MOOC who knows all of this stuff, but. [SPEAKER_04]: I wrote it down just so that, you know, I would not mess this up.
[SPEAKER_04]: So the app, the actual biblical verse is, quote, and I will execute great vengeance upon them with furious rebukes, and they shall know that I am the Lord when I shall lay my vengeance upon them. [SPEAKER_04]: Believe that's the King James version. [SPEAKER_07]: And that is Old Testament. [SPEAKER_04]: Right, right, and it's and it's detailing God's promise of vengeance against those who harmed Israel Primarily he was you know, calling out the Philistines whatever.
[SPEAKER_04]: Okay, so that's that's the actual biblical verse right now If you know Pope fiction the movie and we do and we like it Thank you Sam Thank you John. [SPEAKER_04]: Thank you Quinn. [SPEAKER_04]: You know all good people were involved in thank you Lexus Alexis yeah, a lot of people yes exactly a lot of a lot of good people involved in that movie [SPEAKER_04]: There's a line in there where, uh, Sam Jackson's character. [SPEAKER_07]: Who is just a murderer?
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, Jules is not exactly the, uh, cleanest, kindest, you know, but, but Jules, he has his, he has his morality in his head. [SPEAKER_04]: Okay, this is true. [SPEAKER_04]: Since we're talking about J.V. [SPEAKER_04]: Vance and morality, right? [SPEAKER_04]: But Jules and Vincent are, they have this guy in the talk, and basically, a Jules recites a version, a version of his E.C.L. [SPEAKER_04]: 25.17. [SPEAKER_04]: Now it's not her baby. [SPEAKER_04]: Right, exactly.
[SPEAKER_04]: It's his version. [SPEAKER_04]: Right, Tarantino has admitted that he stole and slightly modified that version from my think Marshall Arts movie or something. [SPEAKER_04]: Right, that's it. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, okay. [SPEAKER_04]: Kegbreath of forces. [SPEAKER_04]: No, no, no, no, no, I was doing it for the Bible. [SPEAKER_04]: Somebody thankfully out online here, a public name AI, I don't know they are. [SPEAKER_04]: But they decided to put these back-to-back together.
[SPEAKER_04]: on top of each other, audio-wise, so that you can hear Sam Jackson and Pete Kegreth recite virtually the same thing here. [SPEAKER_04]: Let me play this on the DVR. [SPEAKER_02]: It's equal to 25, 17.
[SPEAKER_13]: The path of a down-to-to-to-to-to-to-to-to-to-to-to-to-to-to-to-to-to-to-to-to-to-to-to-to-to-to-to-to-to-to-to-to-to-to-to-to-to-to-to-to-to-to-to-to-to-to-to-to-to-to-to-to-to-to-to-to-to-to-to-to-to-to-to-to-to-to-to-to-to-to-to-to-to-to-to-to-to-to-to-to-to-to-to- [SPEAKER_17]: Let's see his name of commanding name, chapter the law through the valley of dark. [SPEAKER_17]: Separates the weak through the valley of darkness. [SPEAKER_17]: Oh, he is truly his brother's keeper.
[SPEAKER_17]: And the finder of lost joy. [SPEAKER_15]: And I will strike down upon him and would insure his anger. [SPEAKER_15]: And I will strike down upon him and would insure his anger. [SPEAKER_15]: And I will strike him to destroy him. [SPEAKER_15]: For attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. [SPEAKER_14]: And you will know my concern. [SPEAKER_14]: And I love my things. [SPEAKER_05]: I think it's up on me. [SPEAKER_05]: You cannot listen to that.
[SPEAKER_05]: I'm like, who the hell helped Cagbraff with this Melania? [SPEAKER_04]: I mean, if you're looking for, you know, somebody plagiarizes, she's, she's very good at it. [SPEAKER_04]: She's excellent at it. [SPEAKER_04]: Just ask Michelle Obama, she has plagiarized lots of times. [SPEAKER_04]: But I'm just saying, you can't do that. [SPEAKER_04]: And Kegbreath, who I'm so religious, I have a prayer service at the Pentagon. [SPEAKER_04]: And this is this particular Bible verse.
[SPEAKER_04]: Cool. [SPEAKER_07]: It's from a very r-rated movie. [SPEAKER_07]: A very violent r-rated movie, which shouldn't good Christians not be seeing those. [SPEAKER_04]: Well, I mean, you can, you can be a good Christian, but not necessarily maybe Kegbrath's kind of Christian. [SPEAKER_04]: Although maybe, maybe it is if you think that Sam Jackson is one of your avenging angel, whatever. [SPEAKER_04]: It's right after this, um, Sam Jackson said anything yet.
[SPEAKER_04]: I have not seen any response by that yet. [SPEAKER_04]: I am curious. [SPEAKER_04]: But right after this, um, Sam and John Travoltaic characters, Jules and Vincent, you know, [SPEAKER_04]: Tell the hell out of a Alexis care.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, but but anyway, the point being is you can't claim all this Piety and then go Well, actually, I just copied a line from a movie A fictional movie because you know [SPEAKER_07]: I can't wait for Tarantino and Sam Jackson in particular to comment. [SPEAKER_04]: I have not seen any comment. [SPEAKER_07]: I would be on the phone with these people right now. [SPEAKER_04]: I would hope that some of their producers have reached out to them and been like, you got to come in?
[SPEAKER_04]: They could even reach out to Travolta. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: I mean, find out the people who were in the movie and whatever. [SPEAKER_07]: I just... [SPEAKER_07]: It was the Lexus and somebody else was in that scene with him. [SPEAKER_07]: He was in... Oh. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Who's the other guy? [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: I'm trying to remember maybe, actor. [SPEAKER_04]: Okay. [SPEAKER_04]: You can do that.
[SPEAKER_04]: Okay. [SPEAKER_04]: She's she's she's she's looking at him. [SPEAKER_04]: Here's the thing is that what what Kegbrath is trying to hint at without saying is that God is on my side And that we can have violence and if you want to know what it leads to here's what it leads to Chicago police Investigated a bomb threat today the suburban Chicago home of Pope Pope Leo's brother who happens to be a Trump supporter [SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, it's Frank Walley.
[SPEAKER_07]: He was also in that same. [SPEAKER_04]: Oh, yep. [SPEAKER_04]: That's got to see. [SPEAKER_04]: There you go. [SPEAKER_07]: There we go. [SPEAKER_07]: See you. [SPEAKER_04]: I can. [SPEAKER_04]: But no, that's fine. [SPEAKER_04]: This IMDB is a great resource. [SPEAKER_04]: We don't have it. [SPEAKER_04]: But, but here's the thing, K-Breath is trying to say that God is on my side so that I can you know commit violence and do whatever the hell I want.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, as as Pope Leo actually said today when he was kicking me where he was he was in the African nation he's doing a tour of multiple African nations again, let me just play the first part of this here, okay, because [SPEAKER_04]: Let's just say Leo's not exactly a fan of Kegbreath, dragging God in his dirty military war.
[SPEAKER_01]: World to those who manipulate religion in the very name of God for their own military economic or political gain, dragging that which is sacred into darkness and filth. [SPEAKER_04]: You don't have to be in the same religion as the Pope to understand. [SPEAKER_04]: That's what I was saying earlier, you don't take something that means so much to somebody else like that and drag that crap through the mud. [SPEAKER_04]: This is funny, I'm going to use it for my own abuse.
[SPEAKER_04]: How long do you have to be, especially when you are supposed to be when you are a cabinet secretary? [SPEAKER_04]: When you are an elected official, you represent [SPEAKER_04]: when you're a producer or an editor. [SPEAKER_04]: Uh-huh. [SPEAKER_04]: Like here, like we're both talent here on our show and we're both producers. [SPEAKER_04]: We represent [SPEAKER_04]: our show together.
[SPEAKER_04]: We also represent all of you who are hanging out in the bar with us, tell your friends, hey, this is great. [SPEAKER_04]: We represent you as well. [SPEAKER_04]: So if we do something that's, you know, shady, which is we don't, but if we would call it right, it would flag badly on you.
[SPEAKER_04]: That's one of the reasons that if you're in a position, you're not supposed to put people like Kegbreath in a position like that, because the stupid things that they do are going to reflect poorly on everybody that they are responsible for. [SPEAKER_06]: And this is Ken breath saying, well, God is on my side to commit war, and by the way, this stupid Pope guy. [SPEAKER_07]: He just stopped, he knows his job. [SPEAKER_07]: He's very, very good at it.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: people like JD should go fight a couch and keg breath just climb back in his model being, you know, these two, man, it's just like don't even spending your whole hair. [SPEAKER_04]: Oh, no, it's okay. [SPEAKER_04]: They're not, they're not the only ones who were incompetent. [SPEAKER_04]: And to end the second round of the news on tap, we have more from the failing Trump regime.
[SPEAKER_04]: Um, uh, for those of you who are in the Midwest, um, this does scare you and probably scares me a little bit. [SPEAKER_04]: So National Weather Service will all depend on it. [SPEAKER_04]: A lot of places around the country, but there were five [SPEAKER_04]: Which is prompting people to go wait a minute. [SPEAKER_04]: What the hell? [SPEAKER_04]: Dose. [SPEAKER_04]: Mm-hmm. [SPEAKER_04]: Budget cuts. [SPEAKER_04]: From the Trump regime.
[SPEAKER_07]: I have noticed here that they're using the European weather information. [SPEAKER_04]: A lot of the forecasters who are in media on your local TV and radio stations, who is at the the forecasters that we hear occasionally on the WCPT, they're they're using the euro as well, a lot of them because they've continued to invest in their weather technology, whereas here it's, oh, we'll just [SPEAKER_04]: And then five tornadoes happen to pop up around Kansas City.
[SPEAKER_07]: I mean, the story cell that opened up on Monday. [SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, here it was over here over over here and so saying yeah, you're you're going to buy Yeah, go home and I'm like what it was sunny and then it was just huge like monsoonal weather cell and you had anyway Like and you had like no real notification that there might be a storm that day You're 0% chance of storms and then poof.
[SPEAKER_07]: I mean I mean my phone might have had it, but it was just like okay [SPEAKER_04]: Well, but that's just is that in order to get the information out, it takes a lot of work to get information out. [SPEAKER_04]: We can be, we're honest with you guys all the time here. [SPEAKER_04]: If you're confused by today's news elsewhere, we understand, because a lot of the mainstream outlets did not organize things properly today.
[SPEAKER_04]: They were all over the place, little of this, little of that, and we put stuff together in the news on tap for you, which you can subscribe to for free at thepoliticsbar.com, although, you know. [SPEAKER_04]: We prefer a little tip, maybe do one of that. [SPEAKER_04]: We love that. [SPEAKER_04]: Exactly.
[SPEAKER_04]: But the reason we put the news on tap together is so that when you want to be part of the conversation, leave messages and leave comments on the social media and leave comments on the sub-stack and the website and all that. [SPEAKER_04]: Um, it's so that you're not talking out of your ass so that you guys know what the hell you're talking about. [SPEAKER_04]: So you can be part of the of the conversation and have fun to be like, oh, that's funny.
[SPEAKER_04]: And all right, did you see this or whatever, as we love that. [SPEAKER_04]: That's great. [SPEAKER_04]: That's that's why you're here in the bar hanging out with us. [SPEAKER_04]: You could message to your friends, which some of us, some of you have told us that you do. [SPEAKER_04]: But that's that's great. [SPEAKER_04]: Y'all are talking over here in the different corners and because you know what's going on.
[SPEAKER_04]: But it takes a lot of work to make sure that things are organized in a very logical way. [SPEAKER_04]: And there's a lot of people in national media these days that don't bother to do it. [SPEAKER_04]: They're like, hey, you'll figure it out on your own. [SPEAKER_04]: Well, you got things to do. [SPEAKER_04]: You got jobs. [SPEAKER_04]: You got work. [SPEAKER_04]: You got families. [SPEAKER_04]: You got religions. [SPEAKER_04]: You got other things that you're part of.
[SPEAKER_04]: You want to be able to get in. [SPEAKER_04]: flip through it, maybe on your phone in like two minutes, just scroll through and be like, okay, that's what happened today. [SPEAKER_04]: And that's why we put it together and news on tap for you. [SPEAKER_04]: So like I said, not not the only idiots, uh, Kegbreath in the Trump regime. [SPEAKER_04]: Uh, D.N.I. [SPEAKER_04]: Gabbard has revived the deep state conspiracy claims. [SPEAKER_07]: Sounds going on, man.
[SPEAKER_07]: She's starting to keep her job. [SPEAKER_07]: That's what matters. [SPEAKER_04]: I think you're right. [SPEAKER_04]: I think you are 100% correct that she's she's a little scared. [SPEAKER_04]: I think a lot of them are scared for their job is because they saw you know Trump axonome and it's look so I I should be worried labor secretary. [SPEAKER_07]: Why are you still there? [SPEAKER_04]: Judd he's right.
[SPEAKER_04]: Uh, texts reportedly show the embattled Trump labor secretary Lori Chavez to remember ordering an aid to bring her wine Right [SPEAKER_04]: I need somebody who works for me to bring me why. [SPEAKER_07]: And a hotel, which means you can not just order from room service at that point.
[SPEAKER_04]: you've done stuff as as a producer to to help talent you can have gone and gotten food or whatever I mean that's because that's part of our jobs that's that's different than this is a job that is that is not part of going and playing fetch and getting wine for the director of the agency is not a part of any of the jobs that are anybody at the labor department there is no wine geter or food geter that's not
[SPEAKER_04]: And the folks who, you know, if they happen to have in their cafeteria, those folks are third party and they go through their bosses in order to get anything like that. [SPEAKER_04]: You have to fill out the correct paper. [SPEAKER_04]: It's not it's not the labor secretary or the secretary of whatever department going, hey, bring the bottle of wine in my room.
[SPEAKER_04]: Uh, by the way, uh, uh, related to the Trump regime, uh, judge this afternoon, halted construction once again of Trump's White House ballroom and any other modifications above ground to the White House, but he did say the work on the underground security bunker. [SPEAKER_07]: That's different. [SPEAKER_07]: That I'm, I will not disagree with that. [SPEAKER_04]: I'm perfectly fine with that, too.
[SPEAKER_07]: But I want to make sure when the next guy gets in or the next lady gets in and they office that we check it for bugs. [SPEAKER_04]: Uh-huh. [SPEAKER_04]: Oh, yeah, because you know that the Russians are probably all Russians in the Chinese are going to Iranians maybe. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, they're all be like, well, Donnie let us in. [SPEAKER_07]: Well, there is four and steel coming in.
[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, we had we had that here was that last week of the week before we had that story in the news on tab man. [SPEAKER_04]: It's it's it's it's I'm not saying it's like the red baiting from the 1950s But yeah, just to scoosh just to speak in the which by the way actually we that that's kind of related to the drink of the day to do a bit Let's just just a little bit week. [SPEAKER_04]: We have a great cocktail from a little bit of a trend. [SPEAKER_04]: We'll just we'll put it though.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, just to scoosh [SPEAKER_04]: Let's stick around. [SPEAKER_04]: We will do that drink of the day next. [SPEAKER_04]: If you're subscribed, you already know we're talking about and if you don't Well, you probably should be listen live on the radio and of course subscribe at the politics bar dot com coming back with the drink of the day. [SPEAKER_04]: Hang on [SPEAKER_12]: We'll be right back after we pay some bills at the politics bar.
[SPEAKER_04]: We tell fun stories to each other here at politics bar. [SPEAKER_04]: While we are, you know, helping you guys pay the bills and you know, getting your drinks ready for the next round, which is always a good thing. [SPEAKER_04]: By the way, if you are wanting to help us, help you. [SPEAKER_04]: I know that's kind of the whole, uh, very German question. [SPEAKER_04]: Very German question. [SPEAKER_04]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_04]: Help me help you. [SPEAKER_04]: Kind of thing.
[SPEAKER_04]: Look, the way you can help is by subscribing at the politicsbar.com. [SPEAKER_04]: $6 a month. [SPEAKER_04]: Get to the podcast and free. [SPEAKER_04]: Get to the news on tap and get you the drink of the day with the recipe.
[SPEAKER_04]: you don't get the recipe if you don't subscribe and look you add it up it's a buck 50 a week I mean you can't do that $6 a month you cannot get more than maybe one like dirt cheap coffee from Starbucks or somewhere like that for like six bucks and just look it's inexpensive it's a good deal for you I'm decides that then you help us check it out Baltic bar.com [SPEAKER_04]: All right, Jody, um, it is Thursday night. [SPEAKER_04]: John Fucosang will be in a little bit.
[SPEAKER_04]: Well, now we know John, you know, he's a great host. [SPEAKER_04]: He's a great author. [SPEAKER_04]: He's a great comedian. [SPEAKER_04]: He's a good actor, too. [SPEAKER_04]: Uh, at least I think he's a good. [SPEAKER_04]: I won't never say he's a good actor, but I think he's a good actor. [SPEAKER_04]: So today's drink of the day celebrates somebody who maybe a little bit better of an actor would you say, just a little bit maybe he was very good.
[SPEAKER_04]: He was an excellent actor. [SPEAKER_04]: I can't talk about it really unless because even the name of the drink will give it away. [SPEAKER_07]: It is true. [SPEAKER_04]: Okay. [SPEAKER_07]: All right. [SPEAKER_07]: So the name of the drink is Charlie Chaplin cocktail because it is his birthday today. [SPEAKER_07]: He was Charles Spencer Chaplin Jr. [SPEAKER_07]: It was born in London, England.
[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, today in 1889. [SPEAKER_04]: It's been a few years, just a little bit. [SPEAKER_07]: I met his, I met his granddaughter Geraldine. [SPEAKER_07]: Oh, wow. [SPEAKER_07]: She was in the movie, a wedding with my mom. [SPEAKER_04]: I did not know that. [SPEAKER_07]: Very nice, little odd, but very nice lady. [SPEAKER_07]: Well, I mean, and look, his whole life has played his grandmother or his mother in chaplain with Robert Downey.
[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, wow, which, by the way, you got the, this is, this is really good, this is a really good history. [SPEAKER_04]: It highlights some of his better films, not all of them, obviously, really good, really good history, really good pictures. [SPEAKER_07]: This is all from the Charlie Chaplin historical website, everything I got from there. [SPEAKER_04]: Which is great. [SPEAKER_04]: And thanks to them, by the way, for allowing us to, to help share the history, which is very good.
[SPEAKER_04]: Look, it is, it's a full thing. [SPEAKER_04]: I really like the fact, though. [SPEAKER_04]: that's uh a lot of people do not necessarily understand united artist which yeah i can't remember who is is amazon mgm actually owns the united artist label now and they are bringing it to their they're bringing it back but they won't be like you it was. [SPEAKER_04]: No, no, no, won't be. [SPEAKER_04]: Well, UA was it was it was a union it was a union.
[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, look, we've got the details of that happen to be here. [SPEAKER_07]: Very pick for it. [SPEAKER_07]: I think was involved. [SPEAKER_04]: Huh, exactly exactly. [SPEAKER_04]: So look, Chaplin had his own contract, Mary Pickford, great actress of the time Douglas Fairbanks, another great actor of the time. [SPEAKER_04]: But the studios were kind of screwing them around.
[SPEAKER_04]: They were talking about basically behind the scenes and not telling these actors that they were going to put together a plan to basically lock out the actors from getting significant contracts and just basically make them wage slaves. [SPEAKER_07]: Well, the studio system was like that for the longest time. [SPEAKER_04]: Right, and this was before they're trying to do that.
[SPEAKER_04]: But this is why pickford and fair banks and DW Griffith and of course Charlie Chaplin together formed United Artist. [SPEAKER_04]: Um, really it's it's a really great history obviously with the labor and then talks about obviously chaplain's movie some of his personal stuff and a little bit of the sketch personal history. [SPEAKER_04]: I'm not going to lie about that. [SPEAKER_04]: But um, pretty amazing history. [SPEAKER_04]: You got it here.
[SPEAKER_04]: I was very, very, look at this and going. [SPEAKER_04]: Wow. [SPEAKER_04]: This is awesome. [SPEAKER_07]: Well, that's all that's a Charlie Chaplin dot com. [SPEAKER_07]: Thank you. [SPEAKER_07]: It's all them. [SPEAKER_04]: Oh, yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: And here's here's the big thing though is that Chaplin. [SPEAKER_04]: The big red scare of the 1950s Chaplin was a real liberal.
[SPEAKER_04]: He was he was not Jewish, although he said he said about being Jewish and people, you know, accused of being a Jew and he said I'm sorry. [SPEAKER_04]: I do not have that pleasure. [SPEAKER_04]: and the right-wing extremists, the nut jobs, the McCarthyites, what they would become. [SPEAKER_04]: Redbaters. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: In fact, I can honestly say that in trying to debate the people of the left, they were indeed masters. [SPEAKER_04]: Day one.
[SPEAKER_04]: I, I, Joe, he shaked her head and me. [SPEAKER_04]: Anyway, look, Chaplin denied being a communist. [SPEAKER_04]: He just believed that, you know, for example, you shouldn't go to war for stupid reasons. [SPEAKER_04]: He kind of agreed with the Pope on that interesting shocker actually agrees with most of America about that interesting. [SPEAKER_04]: But they basically, they locked him out of the United States. [SPEAKER_04]: They did.
[SPEAKER_07]: He wasn't allowed to come back until many years later. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, the full history is there. [SPEAKER_04]: You guys definitely should read it. [SPEAKER_04]: It is great and interesting. [SPEAKER_04]: And yes, we have a clip from the Robert Downey Jr. Jr. And we have the great dictator as well. [SPEAKER_04]: Oh, yes, if you wanted, that is his last speech as I believe the Ram, the Triumph. [SPEAKER_07]: But it looks so hitler-esque and it was so brilliant.
[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Well, hitler reportedly was first rated because of the fact that that Chaplin looks so much like him. [SPEAKER_04]: So you guys can read the full full version. [SPEAKER_04]: It's all there in the drink at the day. [SPEAKER_04]: But what is in a Charlie Chaplin cocktail? [SPEAKER_04]: Because I want to get to drink in that day. [SPEAKER_07]: It's okay, it's a pre-chilled coop glass.
[SPEAKER_07]: Shaker, ice, three quarters of an ounce of Laxada, apricot, albioca. [SPEAKER_04]: Mm-hmm. [SPEAKER_07]: That's what I think it is. [SPEAKER_07]: Albioca, albioca, albioca, albioca, albioca, albioca, albioca, albioca, albioca, albioca, albioca, albioca, albioca, albioca, albioca, albioca, albioca, albioca, albioca, albioca, albioca, albioca, albioca, albioca, albioca, albioca, albioca, albioca, albioca, albioca, albioca, albioca, albio [SPEAKER_07]: always freshly squeezed.
[SPEAKER_07]: Of course. [SPEAKER_07]: A third of an ounce of chilled water, unless you're using quote Wet Ice, which is ice that's going to start melting. [SPEAKER_04]: Right, ice that's been around a little bit. [SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, it's not just right out of the freezer. [SPEAKER_07]: It's got to have started to. [SPEAKER_07]: It's just to kind of cut the sharpness a little bit. [SPEAKER_07]: Exactly, because that is definitely the flavors.
[SPEAKER_07]: And then an apricot wedge or dried apricot half for your garnish. [SPEAKER_04]: And please, if you're gonna do it, don't use a little Brock's candy apricots. [SPEAKER_04]: Use actual apricots, can you break? [SPEAKER_07]: Come on. [SPEAKER_07]: So you shake all your ingredients with ice until it's cold, you strain it to your coop glass and you're garnished with the wedge or dried apricot on the rim. [SPEAKER_04]: There you go.
[SPEAKER_04]: Charlie Chaplin had a good quote about this. [SPEAKER_04]: He said nothing is permanent in this wicked world Not even our troubles Which we all we have Yeah, look hey there there are times when we're like man this sucks You know as I've joked before sometimes when you looking you you things things are sucking you look at a friend and you go This is gonna suck you all right.
[SPEAKER_04]: Let's go [SPEAKER_04]: people go are you nuts and you go no i just really wish that this sucky part was over no i'm i'm not but i also wish it were over true anyway look if you missed any part of the drink of the day you know what to do go subscribe the politics bar dot count and your entertainment section out for today uh... yes i did put the dotters i tried to put the dotters game if it's a good one in their uh... autonomy skipped about he did not bat last night interesting
[SPEAKER_04]: I still pitch 10 strikeouts, Dodgers. [SPEAKER_04]: So what the math's for Nathan? [SPEAKER_07]: And he can pitch and hit. [SPEAKER_07]: So that's for a pitcher. [SPEAKER_04]: I like it when he does both because then it's fun. [SPEAKER_04]: Because then you're like, oh, I can just watch one player. [SPEAKER_04]: And it's like, oh, what pass on defense? [SPEAKER_04]: What pass on offense? [SPEAKER_04]: What pass on defense? [SPEAKER_04]: What pass on offense?
[SPEAKER_04]: That's fun to watch. [SPEAKER_07]: And normally the reason is because pitchers are practicing more pitching and not as much hitting because they're pitchers. [SPEAKER_07]: So they get good at that. [SPEAKER_04]: So show it. [SPEAKER_04]: He's just that good. [SPEAKER_07]: Well, he's, you know, yeah, it's like pictures and catchers are normally not good, battered, but this thing that he is. [SPEAKER_04]: And I tell playoffs by the way, have arrived.
[SPEAKER_04]: Colorado, Dallas and Vegas. [SPEAKER_04]: My brother is happy since he happens to be an avalanche fan, so that's good. [SPEAKER_04]: Also, LA related to our California related, really. [SPEAKER_04]: Steph Curry and Alhorford came back. [SPEAKER_04]: Warriors were down on like 20 points last night. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, did to come back.
[SPEAKER_04]: 126, 121 into the clip for season and got the Warriors into the playoffs [SPEAKER_04]: Maxis scored 31 to lead the sixers past the magic and they are in the playoffs as well This is something related to kind of one of the other drinks we did was it Monday. [SPEAKER_04]: I think it was A lot of Del Rey has released a new theme song for the upper point James Bond video game 007 first light.
[SPEAKER_04]: It's really good [SPEAKER_04]: We've got the link that happens to be in the entertainment section of the news on tap. [SPEAKER_04]: I, I, I'm like, that's, and I know video games are very cinematic today very much like movies. [SPEAKER_04]: You can play, but this song, it's, it's a banger. [SPEAKER_04]: It's good. [SPEAKER_04]: Okay. [SPEAKER_04]: So yeah, I recommend it.
[SPEAKER_04]: By the way, MGM says their search for the new James Bond actor, the reason they're just taking time is because they want to make sure they get it right. [SPEAKER_07]: I think they need to get it on known actor. [SPEAKER_07]: I think it would be good if they got to introduce elbow, but they also said he's, you know, he's not willing and he's going to be in his senses. [SPEAKER_07]: He's at least my age. [SPEAKER_04]: Right. [SPEAKER_04]: Right.
[SPEAKER_04]: And he's like, and they want somebody who's going to be available for a decade. [SPEAKER_04]: And he's like, he probably not me.
[SPEAKER_04]: So I think I would love him, but I hope they find somebody that maybe we don't we've not heard of here in these or maybe they can maybe they can do like a talent search well but kind of a past thing where they where they go back and they look in the past and they're like and maybe he wouldn't be double a seven maybe like double a five or something like that and they do do like a little scene where it was a few years back and then introduce all those a secret agent you go oh he kind of got in with that way I mean they you know they're
[SPEAKER_07]: I would love it if you're selling blood to be a double-o in one of the movies. [SPEAKER_07]: Exactly, I'm talking about C. Intersell, but double-o, just one, just, you know, a couple small scenes, that's all I'm asking. [SPEAKER_07]: Let him do his stuff because I've been watching him in this TV series that he's been doing on Apple. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: And look, he's just he's a good actor. [SPEAKER_04]: So wonderful actor. [SPEAKER_04]: That's where I'm at.
[SPEAKER_04]: I'm speaking good actors and fun actors. [SPEAKER_04]: Spaceballs, too, as a new trailer. [SPEAKER_04]: I saw it out. [SPEAKER_07]: I didn't see the trailer. [SPEAKER_07]: I did see the Mel Brooks talking about it. [SPEAKER_04]: Right. [SPEAKER_04]: And that was actually a spaceballs, the new one. [SPEAKER_07]: Because it's newer than the old one. [SPEAKER_04]: right exactly. [SPEAKER_04]: A lot of fun stuff going to be in that one. [SPEAKER_04]: There is a new trailer.
[SPEAKER_04]: You actually can see the full trailer of that. [SPEAKER_04]: We have the link for that in the entertainment section today. [SPEAKER_04]: The soccer and law trailer. [SPEAKER_04]: That's right. [SPEAKER_04]: That's going to be fun. [SPEAKER_07]: She is. [SPEAKER_04]: Those fuckers. [SPEAKER_07]: And Danero literally said she was one of the funnest comedy scene partners. [SPEAKER_07]: He's ever worked with. [SPEAKER_04]: I've heard that she is significantly underrated as an actress.
[SPEAKER_07]: I think she's fantastic. [SPEAKER_04]: I think that she's really fun and funny and I mean, look, she started as a Disney kid, you know? [SPEAKER_04]: So she, it's not like she's been, you know, she just fall off the turn-up front. [SPEAKER_07]: No, she can sing amazingly and she has really good comedic timing. [SPEAKER_07]: I've, I saw it in Wicked, she's very good comedic time. [SPEAKER_07]: Right.
[SPEAKER_04]: I'm not, I'm not going to be, I'm sorry, Bella, but I'm not going to be like, you know, Bieber is better than the Beatles because he's not, and that's just the truth. [SPEAKER_04]: But some of these newer folks are, you know, newer relative to, you know, people like De Niro. [SPEAKER_07]: And for him to say that she's a really good scene partner, I mean, can you imagine at what is she 30 maybe? [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_07]: And Robert De Niro is saying that about you.
[SPEAKER_04]: That's where you're like, you know what? [SPEAKER_04]: It's a good life. [SPEAKER_07]: I'm just like, that's it. [SPEAKER_04]: Now they are probably not going to make an AI of her, you know, for what, but maybe they have, I don't know. [SPEAKER_04]: There is a new trailer for that movie as deep as the grave. [SPEAKER_04]: The one that has the AI Val Kilmer. [SPEAKER_04]: We got that picture in the news collage today.
[SPEAKER_04]: his family authorized it they had to okay everything it still bothers me too because i'm like and but he really wanted to do it he i guess he really really really wanted to do the movie and the blessing before he died so i assume his son is vocalizing for him because the son does sound a lot like him [SPEAKER_04]: I think they did a mixed his vocals with voice parts that they pulled from it's one of the things that they can do with magic of technology these days.
[SPEAKER_04]: So we'll have to see it when it's free. [SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, exactly. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I'm not going to get the max. [SPEAKER_07]: I'm sorry, Kilmer family, but I think you did the wrong thing. [SPEAKER_04]: So those still get some we see them. [SPEAKER_04]: Disney Plus or HBO Max or Netflix or whatever. [SPEAKER_04]: So, you know. [SPEAKER_04]: Anyway, look, we've got more news on tap.
[SPEAKER_04]: We've got John Fugelsang coming in tonight, which has been a couple of weeks since he's been here. [SPEAKER_07]: Well, he's last guest was Martin Sheen, so we were not going to get him crap for that. [SPEAKER_04]: Well, sure. [SPEAKER_04]: Fine, go hang out with Uncle Martin. [SPEAKER_07]: Whatever. [SPEAKER_04]: We have you on the market exactly. [SPEAKER_04]: We do we do. [SPEAKER_04]: Thank you very much, Barton. [SPEAKER_04]: Oh, this is going to be fun, this is, this is like watching the Dodgers play the mats. [SPEAKER_04]: You're just like, it's just, I'm just saying, it's fun to watch somebody work up on somebody else sometimes. [SPEAKER_07]: Well, I mean, the Pope, because he's from Chicago. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_07]: Probably has a lot of swear words in his head, but because he's popping, he can't say it. [SPEAKER_04]: Oh my God, can you imagine his internal sensor?
[SPEAKER_07]: And his brother got something happen to him? [SPEAKER_04]: I'll talk about that here by the way. [SPEAKER_04]: Thank you. [SPEAKER_04]: So yes, speaking of it looks like nothing happened, although submitting a false claim of a
[SPEAKER_04]: just remind people that our police are still investigating the bomb threat of uh... polio's brother who lives in suburban chicago and is that the one that it's the maca one or is it a plan i think i'm pretty sure that's the maca one yeah but i'm like i just don't don't do this to anybody people i don't care right yes do not do not do not do not threaten and of course seriously you're threatening the violence against the other brother [SPEAKER_04]: Right.
[SPEAKER_04]: You got to be kidding me. [SPEAKER_04]: Are you freaking insane? [SPEAKER_04]: Are you nuts? [SPEAKER_07]: Don't do that. [SPEAKER_04]: That's just yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: That's that's that's that's that's the kind of thing like going out of a golf course during a thunderstorm and you know raising up a golf club and you know yelling at God you will get struck with your aluminum umbrella. [SPEAKER_04]: Thank you, Cathy check.
[SPEAKER_07]: Oh, no, there's a sketch of, well, I'll send it to you with a little bit of water. [SPEAKER_04]: Oh, you're talking about, oh, that's sketch. [SPEAKER_04]: Oh, yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: I even, I hadn't even noticed. [SPEAKER_04]: It's a little sketch. [SPEAKER_07]: Conway is her husband and he keeps wanting to kill her. [SPEAKER_04]: Yes. [SPEAKER_07]: Because she's adorable and really annoying. [SPEAKER_07]: And at one point.
[SPEAKER_07]: He gives her an aluminum bat and an aluminum umbrella to go onto a thunderstorm. [SPEAKER_04]: Right. [SPEAKER_04]: Right. [SPEAKER_04]: Well, we'll have to put that up. [SPEAKER_04]: You've got the social. [SPEAKER_05]: Those are funny. [SPEAKER_05]: Those are very funny. [SPEAKER_05]: The long and short is you do not do that kind of thing. [SPEAKER_04]: And yet these idiots, and of course you have, you know, Kegbreath basically threatening.
[SPEAKER_04]: Well, you know, I'm the secretary of war. [SPEAKER_04]: What? [SPEAKER_04]: What is the acronym for secretary of war? [SPEAKER_04]: Sau. [UNKNOWN]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, that's just dumb. [SPEAKER_07]: I don't call him that. [SPEAKER_07]: I mean, I don't either. [SPEAKER_04]: It's because it's it's it's it's it's it's it's defense department secretary DOD secretary. [SPEAKER_04]: Right. [SPEAKER_04]: Psych deaf. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Psych deaf perfectly fine.
[SPEAKER_04]: If you if you want to use a nickname, that's anyway. [SPEAKER_04]: Sir who or yeah, well, I was small peen. [SPEAKER_04]: He does. [SPEAKER_04]: Johnny's right. [SPEAKER_04]: He does have a small peen. [SPEAKER_07]: I'm just saying because people with big peen don't have to say. [SPEAKER_07]: Sir who or see. [SPEAKER_04]: This is, this is one of the great reasons that, that Jodi is here, because you know some stuff.
[SPEAKER_04]: There, there are other wars going on at the right is is having in today in the third round of the rights of many wars. [SPEAKER_04]: So, House Democrats absolutely blasted RFK Jr today, just being in case they should. [SPEAKER_04]: Well, it's the same time this story comes out about RFK Jr chopping off a dead raccoon's pain. [SPEAKER_04]: to study later while they were on a family road trip. [SPEAKER_07]: What is wrong with him?
[SPEAKER_07]: And then he was thinking as he's mutilating this corpse of a little baby raccoon to put a little boy as he's mutilating the corpse of this animal. [SPEAKER_07]: He's thinking how weird his family is. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, no, no. [SPEAKER_07]: Well, she's doing something completely insane. [SPEAKER_07]: His father was like looking down, going, what? [SPEAKER_07]: Why? [SPEAKER_07]: What did I do?
[SPEAKER_04]: I should be speaking of, speaking of weird, by the way, Dr. Oz revealed that Trump believes diet itself kills cancer cells. [SPEAKER_07]: According to his Caroline, it was a joke. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, no, they they try to pawn that off and everything. [SPEAKER_04]: Oh, you know, Donald Trump says let launch nuclear weapon.
[SPEAKER_07]: He's kidding and apparently according to some rumors [SPEAKER_07]: Somebody said to him, tell them that the Jesus thing was doctored, and he might have misheard. [SPEAKER_04]: And said it was a doctor in the picture. [SPEAKER_04]: If you go back and look, there is documentation. [SPEAKER_04]: The guy who put up the AI image of Trump as Jesus, we looked at he initially in his initial post said that Donald Trump was healing America. [SPEAKER_07]: That's what Giba was doing.
[SPEAKER_07]: He was healing, but he wasn't a doctor. [SPEAKER_04]: Well, right, but that's... [SPEAKER_04]: I just look at the whole thing and say, all of this is just absolutely insane, and dumb, and... [SPEAKER_07]: But the memes are great coming out from that.
[SPEAKER_04]: uh... in actual uh... information uh... the house did something i was shocked at a they advanced to build a restore temporary protected status for Haitian immigrants only got the house did something worthwhile six republicans joined over the press voting in defiance of trump good for that [SPEAKER_04]: And ooh, story last minute I got this in before I sent it out. [SPEAKER_04]: I don't think you saw this one.
[SPEAKER_04]: On the ice agent was charged today in Minneapolis, second degree assault in Minnesota for pointing a gun at civilians. [SPEAKER_04]: So congratulations to you folks up in the cities. [SPEAKER_04]: Y'all are still showing everybody else. [SPEAKER_04]: How it's done. [SPEAKER_07]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_07]: You love that. [SPEAKER_04]: Keep that up, man.
[SPEAKER_04]: Then of course, since we're talking about the courts, [SPEAKER_04]: Did you, I mean, what do you think about the Supreme's doing all of this? [SPEAKER_04]: It seems weird, right? [SPEAKER_04]: It is and it isn't. [SPEAKER_04]: A lot of this stuff was going on kind of behind the scenes, but now they're actually doing in places where like see span and sort of in private events, so just a sort of my sort of my or made a comment a while back.
[SPEAKER_04]: She apologized to it in public for she's made a minor swipe at Kevin or whatever. [SPEAKER_04]: Uh-huh. [SPEAKER_04]: Just, just as Kataji Brown Jackson is correct, the, the use and abuse of the shadow docket by the right wingers on the court. [SPEAKER_07]: It should be used for like, you know, stopping executions originally was called the emergency docket. [SPEAKER_04]: It's supposed to be right. [SPEAKER_04]: Like you said for emergencies.
[SPEAKER_04]: Not for regular, reminds me of like a college kid who's like, hey, my parents, did I go to this credit card for the emergency? [SPEAKER_04]: Want to buy a pizza? [SPEAKER_07]: You know, I mean, when I got my my parents signed off on my very first credit card I had a $500 limit. [UNKNOWN]: Ooh. [SPEAKER_07]: I was a lot in 1984, I mean, that's a lot. [SPEAKER_04]: No disagreement there, no one. [SPEAKER_07]: And I paid the bills, though. [SPEAKER_07]: They just co-signed it.
[SPEAKER_07]: And so that's how I built credit starting at 17 years old. [SPEAKER_04]: Wait, and look, I get all of that. [SPEAKER_04]: But I'm also like, you know, that is not what the Shadow Doctor is supposed to be. [SPEAKER_04]: You know, but Clarence Thomas decided that he just wanted to take a broad shot and basically say that progressiveism in its entirety is a threat to America. [SPEAKER_04]: And I'm sorry, I'm sorry without it.
[SPEAKER_07]: He would not be able to be married to the woman that he's married to. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, Jenny. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, who was a university in Nebraska graduate unfortunately? [SPEAKER_07]: But I mean, they progressives helped loving get past. [SPEAKER_04]: You're correct. [SPEAKER_04]: Yes, Jordi's right. [SPEAKER_07]: Oh, and helped him not to be still a slave. [SPEAKER_04]: Look, we've said this before. [SPEAKER_04]: The modern Republican motto is very simple.
[SPEAKER_04]: I've got mine, FU. [SPEAKER_04]: He's fine with it because he has his. [SPEAKER_04]: You want rights? [SPEAKER_04]: Oh, you silly progressive person. [SPEAKER_04]: You're not supposed to have rights? [SPEAKER_04]: Only I get them because I'm on the Supreme Court. [SPEAKER_04]: I heard Katie Tursay something earlier today as I was getting ready to come to the bar. [SPEAKER_04]: She had some body on and she was, was God who was it, was it choice, was it's Katie Fang?
[SPEAKER_04]: I can't remember who was, it was, it was, anyway. [SPEAKER_04]: And she was talking and she said something like, well, I'm going to take the counter position. [SPEAKER_04]: It doesn't make it bad that they're out and they're talking about these things in public because they're supposed to be, you know, haunted and high up and all of this and I go, [SPEAKER_04]: No, no, no, they are supposed to, they are not supposed to be put on pedestals. [SPEAKER_07]: I agree.
[SPEAKER_04]: They're judges, but they're supposed to be people who have knowledge of the law. [SPEAKER_07]: The constitution specifically is what they're jobbing. [SPEAKER_04]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_04]: And that they, not to overuse the word, but judiciously apply these, this knowledge. [SPEAKER_04]: for the benefit of all of us to make sure that things stay in line with the Constitution. [SPEAKER_04]: but they're not supposed to be considered gods or above us in any way.
[SPEAKER_04]: They're supposed to be people just like us who's job happens to be to make sure that the laws we have stay in line with the Constitution. [SPEAKER_04]: You know, that's basically that they're, yes, they are all political people. [SPEAKER_04]: And yes, for a very long time now, they have tried to hide this behind doors in, you know, private clubs and things. [SPEAKER_04]: I think it's good.
[SPEAKER_04]: that they're, that you're seeing this stuff on C-SPAN, that they're coming out and saying this stuff because they are political actors. [SPEAKER_04]: It's, it's like, it's like the same thing when people say about journalists in media. [SPEAKER_04]: They're like, oh, well, you know, there's no such thing as, you know, unbiased. [SPEAKER_04]: You're right. [SPEAKER_04]: There's no such thing as as what, what, that journalists and professor J. Rosen says, the view from nowhere.
[SPEAKER_04]: There is no such thing as the view from nowhere. [SPEAKER_04]: Every single person has a bias of some kind or another on every single topic. [SPEAKER_04]: Absolutely. [SPEAKER_07]: So, you know, and with, especially like television media, is the producers, and they're the ones that have the bias more than say the anchors.
[SPEAKER_04]: And even more, even more than movies, but yeah, television and of course, you know, people who make videos for, for, online and who don't have a whole series of stuff like in movies where you got to hold every, people who are, our TV producers tend to be more hands on.
[SPEAKER_07]: and that was well yeah but i mean i'm talking television producers for uh... news all year and major control yes you're david viewers and they have some control over what they will cause there may be one i talked about their talent and producers like us yes but again
[SPEAKER_07]: The on high guy has more control over that person unless that person has a really really great contract I mean it's all about that because you're David Mewers who I he's very handsome by the way He's a handsome guy Very pretty Speaking of exactly speaking of handsome guy who's pretty [SPEAKER_04]: Yes, so as is John Hugo saying oh, no, no, no, no. [SPEAKER_03]: I'm I'm I'm good.
[SPEAKER_03]: Thank you guys good to see you both Hi, hi, you're working the New York studio back in the New York studios But I want to let everyone know at my website. [SPEAKER_03]: I'm selling some really swell discounts on swallwell for governor merch that I [SPEAKER_03]: I was offered like, I was an ugly low of T-shirts last week, and I didn't know it was going on. [SPEAKER_03]: It seemed like a good deal. [SPEAKER_03]: So I thought, yeah, I could make a buck off this.
[SPEAKER_03]: So now they're really affordable folks if you want. [SPEAKER_03]: It's there for you. [SPEAKER_04]: Well, remember, you have to give him money. [SPEAKER_04]: You can't just reach out and grow for it. [SPEAKER_04]: I'm sorry, that was just there. [SPEAKER_04]: Look, we're wondering if you can take the break as you come in. [SPEAKER_04]: Look, we'll get you a drink. [SPEAKER_04]: We've got plenty to talk.
[SPEAKER_04]: We're obviously talking today a lot about Donald and his kvall of idiots trying to go to war with the Pope. [SPEAKER_04]: Yes. [SPEAKER_04]: And instead whipping out pulp fiction is infinitely hilarious to us. [SPEAKER_03]: Oh, I have thoughts to do. [SPEAKER_03]: So I'm sure you do. [SPEAKER_03]: But he managed to play, he managed to plagiarize both his E-keel and Quentin Tarantino in the same opinion. [SPEAKER_03]: I know. [SPEAKER_04]: Right, exactly.
[SPEAKER_04]: We're just like, really? [SPEAKER_04]: Really? [SPEAKER_04]: Look, it's Thursday night. [SPEAKER_04]: John Fugal is here for at least a couple rounds, so I'll look fresh in your drink and do what you've got to do. [SPEAKER_04]: If you do not have a politics bar t-shirt, you can go check it out at thepoliticsbar.com store, get your shirt, your glass, mug, whatever. [SPEAKER_04]: Fresh in your drink, we'll be right back with John on the Thursday night.
[SPEAKER_12]: We'll be right back after we pay some bills at the politics bar. [SPEAKER_04]: It is Thursday nights, and our favorite ecclesiastical MOOC back in the bar, the one that only John Fubles sang, hanging out with us, correcting us on all the places we're wrong and making sure that we stay right with. [SPEAKER_04]: That's what I do.
[SPEAKER_04]: I'm a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you
[SPEAKER_04]: And which makes you, it makes me, it makes me look at it and go, Pete may not have anybody around him. [SPEAKER_04]: Who is like, you know, X-N-A on the ear bay today. [SPEAKER_03]: Oh, and the people who work in the Pentagon and also respect Pete Hexeth, when he's doing jealous shots in between Call of Duty games. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, to my knowledge, to my knowledge, there are no people who respect Pete Hexeth. [SPEAKER_03]: Oh, come these generals, we'll party with me, Praha.
[SPEAKER_03]: I just can't believe how stupid. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, it's embarrassing. [SPEAKER_04]: Well, the fact that he has this prayer service, which pisses off these folks that I know that work at the Pentagon anyway, because they're like, dude, we don't mix theology, that kind of stuff with what we do. [SPEAKER_04]: This is about strategy. [SPEAKER_04]: This is about making things ready. [SPEAKER_04]: This is not about none of that. [SPEAKER_04]: None of that here.
[SPEAKER_04]: And, you know, he's he's doing whatever, but the fact of him that he claims that it's Ezekiel and, of course, it's not, I know. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_03]: But you're saying he's, you're saying the Pete Hexette is an idiot who doesn't really know the Bible. [SPEAKER_03]: Is that what you're breaking to me? [SPEAKER_03]: Sean, I, oh no, like I was breaking, I just breathed, I got to breathe a little bad.
[SPEAKER_05]: Sean, it's just, it's just, it's just the fact that he actually uses the, it claims, I mean, he, he, he literally took, we, [SPEAKER_04]: We, we play earlier.
[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, have you, have you heard it back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back
[SPEAKER_02]: The path of a down-toe man is about 6% on all sides by the enemy. [SPEAKER_02]: By the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. [SPEAKER_13]: Blessed is he, his name of commemorating name, the chapter of the law through the valley of dark. [SPEAKER_13]: Separate the weak through the valley of darkness.
[SPEAKER_17]: We've made the right through the script, we've made the script, we've made the script, we've made the script, we've made the right of darkness, we've made the right of darkness, we've made the right of darkness, we've made the right of darkness, we've made the right of darkness, we've made the right of darkness, we've made the right of darkness, we've made the right of darkness, we've made the right of darkness, we've made the right of darkness, we've made the right of darkness, we've made the right of darkness, we've made the right of darkness, we've made the right of darkness, we've made the right of darkness
[SPEAKER_16]: And I will strike down on him when he was in greater danger than I said with you. [SPEAKER_15]: You're a happiness, boy. [SPEAKER_15]: For the tip to poison and destroy my brothers. [SPEAKER_03]: And you will know my call side is the seed of my call side. [SPEAKER_14]: And I love my things. [SPEAKER_03]: It's so embarrassing. [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_05]: It's embarrassing. [SPEAKER_03]: So embarrassing.
[SPEAKER_05]: But the fact that somebody could do that so easily, lay the two of them on and you can sit there and listen. [SPEAKER_03]: Wait, that would be good. [SPEAKER_03]: That would be like the first lady taking wholesale Michelle Obama quotes for a speech of her own. [SPEAKER_03]: Wouldn't it? [SPEAKER_03]: Hard to imagine. [SPEAKER_03]: These idiots would less something like that slip by don't you think they're so usually they're attention to detail is so thorough in this outfit, right?
[SPEAKER_03]: Shocked. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: No. [SPEAKER_04]: No. [SPEAKER_04]: No, I look.
[SPEAKER_04]: This is why we call them half-ashist, but it's just it's when it's when it's that blatant And I get now the pollzing and a lot of the the [SPEAKER_04]: You know, Christians are are now they're going I can't believe you tried to do the first he did the Trump as American Jesus and then he did the buddy Jesus thing and and going Now that's the pope and one meme right that was like whoa was that as the first first version of our mirror I'm going
[SPEAKER_05]: Now when Francis died last year, yeah, the now you guys are offended after everything else he's done all the kids he's killed, although the now you're offended really, now it's now it's blast me the care about not not not thousands of children that are dead in Africa because of the USA ID. [SPEAKER_03]: Thank you steepest cuts to far and aid in history so he can make billionaires richer and save no money with doge.
[SPEAKER_03]: This guy is out here furious that the Pope won't endorse war, which is amazing guys because historically, you know, Pope's have done a lot of evil things. [SPEAKER_03]: Not being a war enough is not one of the things people usually complain about. [SPEAKER_03]: And this Pope follows Jesus who also famously had problems with imporers demanding loyalty. [SPEAKER_03]: Now Leo, like Francis said nothing controversial. [SPEAKER_03]: Leo walked up to a mic and essentially he dropped a
[SPEAKER_03]: right like he's a cover band at the state fair the less of the piecemaker is love your enemy put away your sword those who live but so basic Christianity one-on-one right like right wash your hands don't eat the silica packet like really in the fundamentals right right so then trump celebrates Easter threatening to wipe out an entire civilization uh... by dinner time and and and and you know leos comes out and and quotes jesus again and he calls him weak on crime
[SPEAKER_03]: terrible this is a fella convicted felon cause calling the pope week on a this is a rapist calling the pope week on crime in a liberal right is nothing screams radical like don't bomb children uh... my favorite line was uh... i want i don't want a pope who criticizes the president because i hope you guys know i'm catholic bit but the pope's job description is regional manager of trump's ego that's actually what he has to do
[SPEAKER_03]: So what we see here is one man is quoting Jesus and one man is fighting with Jesus and this is why you Don't need to do more than quote the Bible to these guys and make them argue with God make them argue with Jesus Because they're not on the side of this prop they wave around this book they pretend to follow being mad [SPEAKER_03]: that the pope won't endorse your war. [SPEAKER_03]: That's like being mad that your doctor won't endorse your cocaine habit.
[SPEAKER_03]: These guys are stupid. [SPEAKER_03]: And they're counting on Americans being too stupid. [SPEAKER_07]: Well, Jamie fans coming out going, he doesn't know theology. [SPEAKER_03]: Right. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_03]: He doesn't know if they haven't read his book. [SPEAKER_03]: Striction matters of morality, pope. [SPEAKER_03]: Well, he's supposed to war. [SPEAKER_05]: Oh, and then tiny Johnson was his whole thing. [SPEAKER_05]: Well, pope likes war sometimes.
[SPEAKER_05]: And I'm like, [SPEAKER_03]: That was correct, wasn't it? [SPEAKER_03]: Oh, well, let me, I'm going, I'm just so convinced that Kevin Spacey has to play Mike Johnson in the movie. [SPEAKER_03]: I'm sorry, I'm going to fight for this. [SPEAKER_03]: Let me Bible-splane Christianity to you, your holiness, may I? [SPEAKER_03]: This Pope waded into politics. [SPEAKER_03]: Why is this Pope waded?
[SPEAKER_03]: I don't want to criticize the clerics, but there's just war theory, and he literally did that. [SPEAKER_04]: Here's Basie doing. [SPEAKER_03]: Oh Kevin, but see I also think Kevin Spacey should play Trump in the movie, so I'm conflicted because that's a whole other, that's a whole other thing. [SPEAKER_03]: So like this whole thing is, you know, the pope shouldn't wait into politics, think about that.
[SPEAKER_03]: like Jesus never talked about violence or power or empire right Jesus was just making Ted talks about carpentry I guess. [SPEAKER_04]: He never was in the church and you know throughout the tax collectors who are part of the government. [SPEAKER_03]: He did worse than that he threw out the money changers who were there to search price then gouge the poor people worshiping for Passover. [SPEAKER_05]: But the much angers think about who were agents of the government.
[SPEAKER_05]: Well, yeah, it's it was literally directly interacting with the government and saying you're screwing the people on the temple flip out with him attacking the center of commerce for all of Jerusalem. [SPEAKER_03]: I mean, this was the empire and the religious bosses at the same time, and never forget because they're just bosses. [SPEAKER_03]: Right. [SPEAKER_03]: So conservative religious bosses joining forces with authoritarian government is literally what killed Jesus.
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, literally. [SPEAKER_03]: But think about, you know, right wing right wing Christianity is weighted into politics to support slavery and deny women the vote and support segregation and invade Iraq and ban abortion. [SPEAKER_03]: But the pope needs to stay out of politics.
[SPEAKER_03]: And if I may, can I just say about this joint, this this just war, Dr. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, that's what I was going to ask you to explain this because they're not everybody understands the whole just war doctor. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, it's more or less like Christianity's a scapeach from Jesus' teachings of non-violence, but right around the time that Rome took over the operation and again.
[SPEAKER_03]: wrecking it because for the first 300 years of Christianity, he was very no war, like they Rome fed these people to the lions because they wouldn't join the army, like Christianity was following Christ the first 300 years, no war. [SPEAKER_03]: Once Rome took over, you got the just war theory, you know, Augustine did a lot of great things, he's the hero of this, of this Pope. [SPEAKER_03]: This is what is shaped Christian attitudes to warfare for like 70 and 100 years.
[SPEAKER_03]: He said that war can be acceptable You can get around Jesus because again Jesus pretty put away your sword He was with a sword.
[SPEAKER_03]: I love your enemy turn the other cheek not a lot of wiggle room with Jesus Augustine said if you're if you're fighting for a just cause if you're not starting it and if you've exhausted all other all other As a news to pay if you're not starting it and you've exhausted all their avenues just noting those two things [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, as well as, you know, it's, it's supposed to restore peace. [SPEAKER_03]: It's got to be declared by a legitimate authority.
[SPEAKER_03]: There's a lot of terms for it. [SPEAKER_03]: It's a 40-like, like, like, like there's more, yeah, war can be fought in the service of God. [SPEAKER_03]: But yeah, so we've done none of that, right? [SPEAKER_03]: But you're, exactly. [SPEAKER_03]: The whole just war theory is fake, Christian garbage. [SPEAKER_03]: And with, all respect to Augustine. [SPEAKER_03]: I mean, it just, it completely contradicts Jesus. [SPEAKER_03]: It abandoned loving your enemy.
[SPEAKER_03]: It completely contradicts the first 300 years of the church. [SPEAKER_03]: It always, [SPEAKER_03]: favors those in power, and it's led to the crusades, and it's led to everything from killing the Indians of the Vietnam War. [SPEAKER_03]: Jesus said what he said, but the church invented the loopholes, and that's the racket. [SPEAKER_03]: This is how Christian nationalism uses it. [SPEAKER_03]: So it's completely based on nothing.
[SPEAKER_03]: These people are not frequent Christian. [SPEAKER_04]: Well, but as you said, it's the loophole and even tiny Johnson is saying, well, okay, we want a loophole from the loophole, and I'm like, at that point, he didn't Christianity by Warner. [SPEAKER_04]: I'm sorry. [SPEAKER_04]: It's just not right. [SPEAKER_03]: It's not. [SPEAKER_04]: It's not. [SPEAKER_03]: Mike Johnson's here. [SPEAKER_03]: You're yelper of viewing the Vatican. [SPEAKER_03]: I mean, my God. [SPEAKER_03]: No.
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_03]: There's nothing to say about Donald Trump when Trump talks about obliterating entire nations. [SPEAKER_03]: He has no comment on genocide in Gaza, but now he's a theologian when the Pope says, maybe God's not into all this death, you know?
[SPEAKER_07]: right genocide gets a shrug and the new testament gets a fact check from these guys their frauds we have to call them out which is why I say to Caroline talking about Eric Swallwell and what people knew and she's literally had the gall to say [SPEAKER_07]: Hey, all these Democrats knew what Eric was doing. [SPEAKER_07]: It was disgusting. [SPEAKER_07]: And Brebe, really? [SPEAKER_07]: You worked for an adjudicated rapist.
[SPEAKER_08]: Uh-huh. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I was also reprimand sawless, by the way. [SPEAKER_04]: Also the other guy who's in Florida, who's actually still in, and then, and then, I mean, if we want to go down a list of people who are still sleeping, it's always as a result. [SPEAKER_03]: Oh, yeah.
[SPEAKER_03]: Mike Johnson had to spend several months pretending he hadn't seen the tweet to know the story of Johnson, whose married lover committed suicide by sending herself on fire and the husband sending the tweets all over. [SPEAKER_03]: Mike Johnson's had to blame them about this for months. [SPEAKER_03]: Now that Swallwell's going, Mike Johnson will not lose his one-seated vantage, so suddenly Mike Johnson's found his bold conscience, and is making representative Gonzalez leave.
[SPEAKER_03]: These people are complete for odds. [SPEAKER_03]: Oh, yes. [SPEAKER_03]: This is the Christian nationalism. [SPEAKER_03]: It's not about following Jesus. [SPEAKER_03]: It's about using Jesus [SPEAKER_04]: You are correct sir. [SPEAKER_04]: He's a prop. [SPEAKER_04]: He's a prop to them. [SPEAKER_04]: And and and we we said this earlier this week about this wall well stuff. [SPEAKER_04]: This is my my contention. [SPEAKER_04]: I mean, look, I am.
[SPEAKER_04]: I have a degree and I have 30 some years working as as a journalist or somebody who's in news media who You know, operates under journalists there. [SPEAKER_03]: You go Sean playing the credibility card in the end. [SPEAKER_03]: I know. [SPEAKER_03]: I know. [SPEAKER_04]: I know. [SPEAKER_04]: I don't want to par whatever. [SPEAKER_07]: But so I don't have any of that. [SPEAKER_04]: Except for, and, you know, entertainment, TV movies, well, that too.
[SPEAKER_04]: She's definitely, I want to vote. [SPEAKER_04]: So, the three of us in the microphone's here, she is definitely a hot one. [SPEAKER_04]: No question there. [SPEAKER_04]: But, here's the thing.
[SPEAKER_04]: So, there are a lot of people in the media who were saying, well, we kind of knew, and my intention, I'm sorry, is if sexual assault, rape, anything in that corner of the universe, if you believe that it's bad, and it is, yes, there are standards that we have to follow [SPEAKER_04]: We have to follow them, but the people who actually helped surface the swallel stuff, their influencers, they're not journalists, they're bloggers, they're influencers.
[SPEAKER_04]: We don't have to follow it, but we also don't have to go, oh, well you know, on this whole Epstein thing, we happen to know that swallel was on a committee and I happen to have his phone number in his email right here and I know that he'll respond.
[SPEAKER_04]: Mr. producer on MSNow or CNN, [SPEAKER_04]: And so all I'm going to do, Mr. New York Times editor, it's just dial up the guy I know that I can get a quote from in two seconds, even though I also happen to know that he may be involved in some hanky stuff, and then it will make my media organization, my journalistic organization look crap. [SPEAKER_04]: No, I'm just going to do what's easy instead of doing what's right.
[SPEAKER_04]: And I'm like, no, either you're doing it the right way or you're not. [SPEAKER_04]: And if you're not, because you're doing it the easy way, then congratulations, you're part of the problem. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: So I, that's that's and there have been a number of people that I've had a few public comments with, but more of the the private messages and they get pissed at me because they always get pissed at me when I say crap like that.
[SPEAKER_04]: And I'm like, either we're doing this job right and helping people get the news and the information correctly or we're affin it up. [SPEAKER_04]: And I'm sorry, but just because you happen to have the phone number of Erics while we're there, the phone number of Gavin Newsom does not excuse you.
[SPEAKER_04]: Well, it's really easy, I just, you know, I want to comment for somebody big in California, all this call up Newsom, and then I'll just push him forward as the leading candidate for because I happen to have his number. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, no. [SPEAKER_04]: That's not how this works. [SPEAKER_04]: And if you're doing it that way, then you're doing it wrong. [SPEAKER_04]: So that's. [SPEAKER_04]: Sorry, it's, you know, my part of my religion, I guess.
[SPEAKER_03]: This is why I'm not a journalist, because I'm not a journalist. [SPEAKER_03]: I'm not held back by standards. [SPEAKER_03]: It's not easier for me. [SPEAKER_03]: I can be like one of those, one of those people. [SPEAKER_04]: You're just held back by standards like ethics. [SPEAKER_04]: And it's no, I'm violent. [SPEAKER_03]: I'm beyond the melancholy yoga ethics. [SPEAKER_03]: I'm just a clown. [SPEAKER_03]: So, you know, I don't have nothing to prove.
[SPEAKER_04]: I just have to show up and, but as a comedian, John, I think in some ways, you're actually more held to it, because for comedy to be good, it has to be honest. [SPEAKER_04]: And that's how we, that's one of the ways that we know that you're honest. [SPEAKER_04]: So one of the ways that we know, cold there is honest. [SPEAKER_04]: It's one of the ways that we know Jimmy Kimmel is honest is because they're funny. [SPEAKER_04]: Because their comedy is honest.
[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, thank you. [SPEAKER_03]: Thank you guys. [SPEAKER_03]: I want you know, I'll be, I'll be funny and honest on the Ali Velshi show this Sunday on MS now. [SPEAKER_03]: She brings minimum tell your friends, bring more people, come on down. [SPEAKER_04]: We love that. [SPEAKER_04]: We also love Ali. [SPEAKER_04]: He's great.
[SPEAKER_04]: I had to go to DC last week and to do Santa for Carl Frish because I'm still working five nights a week and so I missed it because I was doing something and I wanted to go, but I just I couldn't get to it, but Kyle's great. [SPEAKER_04]: It looks very fun. [SPEAKER_03]: It was a lot of fun now. [SPEAKER_03]: Glenn Kirchner showed up and it was a packed house and was a lot of fun. [SPEAKER_03]: I'll do anything for that guy. [SPEAKER_03]: He's such a good man.
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, Carl Carl is crazy. [SPEAKER_04]: We love Carl. [SPEAKER_04]: And the fact that I happened to live in Fairfax County and he happens to be on the school board. [SPEAKER_04]: It's a good deal. [SPEAKER_03]: Sorry that I missed you guys last week. [SPEAKER_03]: I was taping with Martin Sheen at my kitchen table, right during our usual time. [SPEAKER_07]: And he was there for like 17 hours because that's wonderful. [SPEAKER_03]: I just had to be still there.
[SPEAKER_03]: I didn't let him leave. [SPEAKER_03]: He and his daughter were chained to the radio right now. [SPEAKER_03]: I was stressed you know what? [SPEAKER_07]: I'm with you on that Yeah, it's easy. [SPEAKER_04]: It's easy to get into long conversation Martin. [SPEAKER_04]: He is fantastic We love it. [SPEAKER_04]: Can we have you around for at least one more? [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, sure thing.
[SPEAKER_04]: Uh, it is Thursday night We've got John Fugle saying in the bar hanging out with him having great conversations about all kinds of stuff So freshing your drink. [SPEAKER_04]: Do what you gotta do Go buy a podcast or a shirt from the politics bar dot com and we'll be back with more with John Fugle saying hang on [SPEAKER_12]: We'll be right back after we pay some bills at the politics bar. [SPEAKER_04]: Let's call here on the Thursday nights.
[SPEAKER_04]: We have a good time here hanging out discussing. [SPEAKER_04]: It is fantastic to do so with all of your friends who are well informed. [SPEAKER_04]: We have some great friends coming in, Karen and Anita will be here tomorrow night. [SPEAKER_04]: Brooklyn dad defied back on Monday. [SPEAKER_04]: Terrific. [SPEAKER_04]: Definitely going to be in too, right? [SPEAKER_04]: Bob says, we'll be back next week too. [SPEAKER_04]: It's always good.
[SPEAKER_04]: And of course, we have the one and only John Fuegel saying here, if you missed any of the show so far, the best thing to do, look, go subscribe to the politicsbar.com $6 a month get to the podcast, add free, and then we don't miss anything. [SPEAKER_04]: Check it out. [SPEAKER_04]: It's there at the politicsbar.com. [SPEAKER_04]: So we were in the break here talking a little bit more about the, the, the, the, the
[SPEAKER_04]: We get to put the bar in whatever that's fine, but we're talking about the accountability and what different factors, I really hate the fact that so many people think that there's, they think of it as a binary, they think of it as either somebody is innocent or they have to be held accountable under law and I'm like, there is the accountability we're talking about of the media, but there's also the accountability of people in politics that includes political parties, there's lots of levels of accountability.
[SPEAKER_04]: And it can't be the reason necessarily justice. [SPEAKER_04]: I hate it when someone says, Oh, well, you know, that guy who killed those people, he got justice. [SPEAKER_04]: No justice would be them still being alive, but they're being held accountable in whatever way. [SPEAKER_04]: There are multiple ways of accountability. [SPEAKER_04]: And yeah, people, there are a lot of ways, so I was already being held accountable in somewhere.
[SPEAKER_07]: Yes, his wife is probably going to leave him. [SPEAKER_04]: Oh, I would not be surprised. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I mean, here's the thing, like I agree, like no one, including Swallwell, should be declared legally guilty without proof because of the question here. [SPEAKER_03]: The question is, what is the political party O America when credibility and the governor ship of California are at stake legal innocence?
[SPEAKER_03]: and politics aren't the same thing right like do do process tells us if someone deserves to go to jail and politics tells us if someone should be holding power right now and they're very different standards. [SPEAKER_03]: I mean, perfect. [SPEAKER_03]: Can this person credibly serve and represent others while this cloud exists? [SPEAKER_03]: Right. [SPEAKER_03]: Is not the same as can this be proven in court? [SPEAKER_03]: It's not abandoning do process.
[SPEAKER_03]: You're you're recognizing that politics is based on trust and and not verdicts [SPEAKER_03]: Like someone continue wielding power under these serious unresolved allegations, multiple claims of sexual assault from staffers, multiple women with new picks from Snapchat, and all that. [SPEAKER_03]: Like stepping aside is not the same as being convicted. [SPEAKER_03]: It's a political decision, it's not a guy in Congress.
[SPEAKER_03]: doing questionable stuff with staff or subordinates doesn't need to meet the legal definition of any kind of crime to become politically radioactive. [SPEAKER_03]: This is why I guess you're more involved. [SPEAKER_03]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_03]: He was a Republican.
[SPEAKER_03]: He'd be up six points and saying the deep state's trying to get me and the old, and then after they get me, they're going to get you and the only thing keeping the deep state from accusing having multiple women accused you of sexual assault is me. [SPEAKER_03]: But you know, that's exact. [SPEAKER_03]: But the Democrats are different. [SPEAKER_03]: They're going to be the party running against Epstein running against hypocrisy. [SPEAKER_03]: We can't corruption and abuse.
[SPEAKER_03]: They can't. [SPEAKER_03]: We better. [SPEAKER_03]: We can't say that. [SPEAKER_03]: We can't say that. [SPEAKER_03]: We can't say that. [SPEAKER_03]: We can't say that. [SPEAKER_03]: We can't say that. [SPEAKER_03]: We can't say that. [SPEAKER_03]: We can't say that. [SPEAKER_03]: We can't say that. [SPEAKER_05]: We can't say that. [SPEAKER_05]: We can't say that. [SPEAKER_05]: We can't say that. [SPEAKER_05]: We can't say that. [SPEAKER_05]: We can't say that.
[SPEAKER_05]: We can't say that. [SPEAKER_05]: We can't say that. [SPEAKER_05]: We can't say that. [SPEAKER_03]: We can't say that. [SPEAKER_03]: We can't say that. [SPEAKER_03]: We can't say that. [SPEAKER_03]: We can't say that. [SPEAKER_03]: We can't say that.
[SPEAKER_03]: We can't say that. [SPEAKER_03]: We can't [SPEAKER_04]: Exactly, but look, I I understand there are there are races. [SPEAKER_04]: I think there's a race in Pennsylvania that or maybe New York I'm trying to remember where it is that there's a Republic and he was going to be in but now he has some problems now he's not and now the Republicans are screaming because it doesn't look like they'll be able to get a candidate by the filing date.
[SPEAKER_04]: I get it if, if Swalwell was the only Democrat running for the Democratic nomination of Governor of California, I could understand, you know, some of the Democratic voters and the people in the California Democrat are probably sweating in a little bit. [SPEAKER_04]: I'm sorry, there is a benefit of riches of all kinds of great candidates who are running for the Democratic nomination for Governor. [SPEAKER_04]: Right, I'd like more and more you look at more and more.
[SPEAKER_04]: I look. [SPEAKER_04]: I like him. [SPEAKER_04]: Jody, I think you're right. [SPEAKER_04]: But yeah, I'm going. [SPEAKER_03]: I think for Sarah's the one by the way, at least Tom Stier can buy it, you know, right now. [SPEAKER_03]: So, I mean, if he's like, I mean, I'd like to see this be the thing that persuades Kamala Harris to get in the race and I'm very troubled that she's not. [SPEAKER_03]: I wish she was. [SPEAKER_03]: I wish she were great for her. [SPEAKER_03]: Great.
[SPEAKER_03]: I think she could do it and she'd be great at the job, but I mean, yeah, I've had this to be with a lot of people who were who thought that he was pushed out like Biden or like Al Franken was. [SPEAKER_03]: I'll be the first to say Al Franken deserved an investigation, but like yeah.
[SPEAKER_03]: you know you've got to have credibility now not vindication in two years they don't have the luxury of saying let's let's wait for the evidence to come out have a trial over the next year and a half the elections in November so the the wisest thing and and he's smart enough to know he had to get out I got nothing against him personally he's always been very kind to me [SPEAKER_03]: He's been on my show multiple times.
[SPEAKER_03]: All I can say is that I hope this awful experience is the beginning of the best period of his life, and it's not in front of cameras. [SPEAKER_03]: And he's got to try to rebuild what he just burned down. [SPEAKER_07]: His family, I mean, yes. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_03]: That's what matters now, like I can't judge someone's sin, I can't judge someone's addiction or whatever their thing is. [SPEAKER_03]: We're all messed up in different ways.
[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, Jody, you and I are complete freaks. [SPEAKER_03]: You know, Jody doesn't care about consent, but whatever. [SPEAKER_03]: You know, Judgements aside, he had to go. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_04]: Democrats eject them Republicans reelect them exactly John is right and there's the thing like I said there are multiple kinds of accountability This is it's not hard for people to understand that there are multiple layers of accountability People have had you know seven layers salad We don't understand that it's very hard for people to understand that it shouldn't be it shouldn't be I'm sorry if you do a crime If you do a crime in your city that's illegal at the city level
[SPEAKER_05]: and illegal at the state level, and illegal at the federal level. [SPEAKER_03]: I know a president should do this, my city. [SPEAKER_05]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_05]: I'm sorry. [SPEAKER_05]: They can charge you if they want to at each of those levels. [SPEAKER_04]: Same crime. [SPEAKER_04]: They can charge you. [SPEAKER_04]: That's fine. [SPEAKER_04]: So multiple layers. [SPEAKER_04]: I get it.
[SPEAKER_04]: And, you know, this, this whole thing that speaking of accountability, I am seeing more people in the mainstream media start to pay attention. [SPEAKER_04]: We love this by the way, John. [SPEAKER_04]: We were pretty sure Hillary's been in the bar here a few times, because as you know, we've talked about accountability and affordability here at the bar since we opened it and even before when Jody was on step show when I was on Randy show, accountability, affordability.
[SPEAKER_04]: Look, Democrats, the United States needs AA. [SPEAKER_04]: it does affordability and accountability. [SPEAKER_04]: And one of the ways of being held accountable is, for example, when corporations get their asses kicked for doing illegal things. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Like these ticket bastards. [SPEAKER_03]: There's a real good story, right? [SPEAKER_03]: Oh, yeah. [SPEAKER_03]: A good story. [SPEAKER_03]: I mean, that's a federal jury. [SPEAKER_07]: Go LA.
[SPEAKER_03]: buying tickets buying concert tickets in America should not be an emotional hazing ritual you know we're going to get a second mortgage on your home to buy tickets have to pay forty seven dollars to print your ticket in your house you know when they still when when I still worked for was it premier I think is when they all started to get to the premier which is a syndicated arm of clerical slash i-harts [SPEAKER_04]: slash live nation because at the time they were all connected.
[SPEAKER_04]: So it was ticket master live nation I heart slash clear channels slash premier all one thing. [SPEAKER_04]: So we on the whole thing up and down the jazz going that's a monopoly Yeah, and a week of like a couple of really great stories.
[SPEAKER_03]: This is one of the great ones because Joe Biden's administration brought this case against ticket master [SPEAKER_03]: And then under Trump, the DOJ basically looked at this monopoly and it was like, yeah, how about how about you just strangle the industry a little more gently? [SPEAKER_03]: Okay, we'll call it even. [SPEAKER_03]: So all the states attorneys general came together and filed this suit. [SPEAKER_03]: And this week, this federal jury confirmed it.
[SPEAKER_03]: The ticket master is a monopoly. [SPEAKER_03]: with a cover charge and a service charge and a processing charge and a charge for noticing the other charges charge and you know for years live nation and ticket master have had this like villain buddy act we're totally separate I sold a venue I run the venue I sold a tickets we're not together [SPEAKER_03]: And then, you know, it's not capitalism. [SPEAKER_03]: It's corrupt cronyism in a capitalist cover band.
[SPEAKER_03]: And this is such a great, great story to happen, because this is how, not just because this is how Monopoly's work, but anybody who's tried to buy a ticket to a concert in the last 25 years and spent 900 bucks to sit behind a cement column, while they were watching Taylor Swift, knows exactly how corrupt this racket is. [SPEAKER_03]: And this is the sort of thing, like Victor Ruebond, that I think could ripple across economies [SPEAKER_04]: from your lips.
[SPEAKER_04]: I hope I'm so great. [SPEAKER_03]: And this is something that actually affects people's lives and young people can care about this as well and get drawn into this. [SPEAKER_03]: And a new generation has to learn how these monopolies get formed and how it's, you know, it's death by too many subscriptions in this country. [SPEAKER_04]: So I think it's great.
[SPEAKER_04]: And it's like, look, the Maga people, there are things that, you know, we may not agree with them on, you know, things like race or, you know, gender issues, you know, being equal, any of those things. [SPEAKER_04]: But they don't like getting screwed either. [SPEAKER_04]: This was this is from MS now. [SPEAKER_04]: This is a little clip here. [SPEAKER_04]: One of the reporters did this about Trump and his war thing, about his Pope thing. [SPEAKER_04]: This is just a comment.
[SPEAKER_04]: These are Trump voters in Florida. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_10]: I can't believe he's just being as arrogant as he is. [SPEAKER_10]: And not working on solving the issue. [SPEAKER_10]: Yes, with war, we're not supposed to be in wars. [SPEAKER_10]: He promised us no new wars by the way. [SPEAKER_10]: Here we are. [SPEAKER_09]: Oh, it's things. [SPEAKER_09]: Just like everything, I mean, crisis of everything going up. [SPEAKER_09]: Grosh, it affects everything.
[SPEAKER_09]: You know, the truckers taking everything and groceries go up, everything goes up. [SPEAKER_04]: Things that they don't like. [SPEAKER_04]: One of the things they don't like, monopolies and getting screwed. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, this is how morons learn not to play in traffic and smoke and bed. [SPEAKER_03]: You know, Germans had to see Berlin and Rubble before they could accept that their fear might have been a little bit full of crap and we're witnessing the same thing.
[SPEAKER_03]: Boy, I liked it when he was having cops beaten for a lie. [SPEAKER_03]: I liked it when he was lying at the Haitians reading pets and that Obama wasn't one of us. [SPEAKER_03]: I mean, you know, but then when it affects them, they're like, oh, way of a painful thing about this is that there's going to be so much of this in the next two and a half years and we cannot meet this with smugg liberal, I told you.
[SPEAKER_03]: I know, I know, I have every time someone wakes on the matrix, but, but it's big, but also it's not enough, right? [SPEAKER_03]: Like Tucker Carlson's turned on him, but has the same ideology. [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_03]: Well, Carlson doesn't want to do anything economically different. [SPEAKER_03]: Marjorie Taylor Greene has turned on him, but she still wants to give billionaires a tax cut and destroy labor unions.
[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, so this whole Republican figuring things out, we saw this after Bush and Cheney, right? [SPEAKER_03]: They all got behind this horrible economy of Bush and Cheney and this horrible evil war. [SPEAKER_03]: And then what happened? [SPEAKER_03]: Bush and Cheney were the fall guys and took all the blame for everything and they went back to their mansions in Texas and the same rat bastards who had upheld the system stayed in DC.
[SPEAKER_03]: And Mago will still be in power after Trump's arteries have done what the Lord has sent them here to do. [SPEAKER_03]: the same evil people will still be fighting against working folks against minorities against the margin a lot. [SPEAKER_04]: That's why we've got to work to do what we can no matter what happens with them. [SPEAKER_04]: We've got to keep pushing press and forward on this. [SPEAKER_04]: I don't necessarily say, you know, you are more kind than I am.
[SPEAKER_04]: I think you are because I say you know around here at the bar we say look you can ride the bus to sanity with us That's fine. [SPEAKER_04]: We say to the maga folks at least on you know this particular issue like you know to take a master thing What are you gonna ride the bus with us to sanity?
[SPEAKER_04]: But you don't get to drive and you sure say I'll don't get an navigate get on a bus get into back sit down and shut up [SPEAKER_04]: And you go have to sit there for a while with a whole bunch of people, you don't necessarily like, but we all agree on these particular issues like Epstein, like this is the lesson of the Orban, right? [SPEAKER_03]: The left has to get two big lessons out of this.
[SPEAKER_03]: You know, one of them is that Madya are one by going in after predatory billionaires who own everything and extract the rest from the people. [SPEAKER_03]: I mean smart Democrats and smart Republicans. [SPEAKER_03]: can start running against the billionaire class yesterday, but the really painful lesson Democrats need to take is that a maggar is not a liberal, he's not a radical, a radical or anything.
[SPEAKER_03]: He is a radical, a conservative, and it took the liberals and the moderates and the conservatives, united together, behind one conservative, to get the fascist dictator out. [SPEAKER_03]: And a tumpree with these purity tests, a lot of guys who don't have you to risk is in Michigan couldn't bring themselves to vote for Hillary, and that women are leading out.
[SPEAKER_03]: But yeah, well, no, for Hillary, and now women lost their rights, I mean, now women are bleeding out in hospital ER parking lots, because dude bros were too pure to compromise my values to vote for Hillary Clinton, who I only agree with on 80% of stuff.
[SPEAKER_03]: This guy was authentic with voters, but again, Orban wasn't just Hungarian, he was a model for this whole kind of Trumpy leader that rigs the system, calls it democracy, and it showed that for all of its flaws in democracy, there's one really inconvenient feature for authoritarians.
[SPEAKER_04]: people get to change their minds we're witnessing it here now we love having you here John you are so brilliant and for those of you who he's he's got ahead we can't do it after hours but John's gonna go because he's gonna go to serious sex and so for those of you who are like I want more job people saying the simple thing is go to there's a podcast there's a live show five nights a week for my miserable existence and there's even a sub-stack is by law yet to do that now
[SPEAKER_04]: Exactly, so go do that and if you haven't bought John's book do that again We'll see you next week John tomorrow night Friday night in the week with Karen and Anita Which we love and of course Monday Brooklyn dad defined we'll see you guys here tomorrow night at the politics bar
