[SPEAKER_02]: It's political Thank you, radical I'm in a decent mood on this Tuesday evening. [SPEAKER_00]: You and I've been working today, but you're in a good mood. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm in a good mood [SPEAKER_00]: You're ready to have two women in the bar. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, of course, I mean two women at the microphones and then everybody else hanging out in the bar. [SPEAKER_07]: Yes. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, me, too, because we're going to have, came early Johnson, the way Johnson.

[SPEAKER_00]: We, yes, the smart and wonderful Johnson, she will be here in the politics bar, which I believe. [SPEAKER_00]: We have a very good drink of the day as well. [SPEAKER_00]: This one, it stacks up. [SPEAKER_00]: It's kind of tall itself, except there's more important stuff below. [SPEAKER_00]: We also, of course, have all the stuff from the news on tap. [SPEAKER_00]: A lot of, it was a responsibility today, Jodie. [SPEAKER_00]: A lot of dodging responsibility, shall we say?

[SPEAKER_00]: Donald Dodging, Republicans in Congress Dodging, Supreme Court Dodging, yeah, screwed them. [SPEAKER_00]: By the way, today is a trans day of visibility. [SPEAKER_00]: So if you know somebody who is trans, congratulate them and thank them. [SPEAKER_00]: And just remember, they're visible every day, and they should be visible every day. [SPEAKER_00]: Because there are people just like the rest of us.

[SPEAKER_00]: And if you have a problem with somebody because their trans, the problem is actually, [SPEAKER_00]: just saying. [SPEAKER_00]: Okay. [SPEAKER_00]: Sorry, that's my little PSA for that.

[SPEAKER_00]: By the way, thank you everybody who is coming in here and joining us in the bar for whatever corner of the world you are, whether you are joining us from our friends at AM950 in Minneapolis, April or our friends in Georgia, Georgia now radio, maybe you are listening on WCPT AMA 20 Chicago or D2 or talk in Tennessee or progressive voices radio or a line wherever you happen to be or. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I know you're like damn it. [SPEAKER_00]: I forgot the detour.

[SPEAKER_04]: I forgot that. [SPEAKER_04]: I'm like it's intensity. [SPEAKER_00]: I know it's in there somewhere Well, your brain took a detour because you were right at the end of the Stephanie Miller show and your brain just took a detour and then we're like, I'm trying to remember I'm sorry, detour.

[SPEAKER_04]: I'm sorry you guys are so sorry [SPEAKER_00]: She looked like we all understand we have all been in that place There's a difference between miss speaking because your brain is you know looking a one thing I did that yesterday while I was here in the bar and we're talking BDD, you know It's you know something goes on over here and you're like somebody does something over there No, okay, wait wait.

[SPEAKER_00]: There's a difference between that and completely dodging responsibility [SPEAKER_04]: So I apologize to the detour radio listeners, I do. [SPEAKER_00]: No, that's okay. [SPEAKER_00]: We love the detour radio listeners. [SPEAKER_00]: So, and I appreciate that you do apologize. [SPEAKER_00]: See, that's, that's integrity, right there. [SPEAKER_00]: Jodie has integrity. [SPEAKER_00]: Not everybody does that kind of, I was shocked this morning.

[SPEAKER_00]: Actually, I was shocked yesterday. [SPEAKER_00]: When we were, before we were coming into the bar, I got Katie Turr actually during journalism, which, and she did it again this afternoon too, which was great. [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, maybe she's pissed off at her husband Tony. [SPEAKER_00]: And I'm rightfully so, because everybody else is too. [SPEAKER_04]: That's who her husband is. [SPEAKER_04]: Is Tony Dokepill? [SPEAKER_04]: Uh-huh. [SPEAKER_04]: Oh, wow.

[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: So, and, and look, MS now seems to be actually going, they are going a lot more towards journalists with integrity. [SPEAKER_00]: And I'm pretty glad about this. [SPEAKER_00]: Some lower court judges are taking responsibility. [SPEAKER_00]: A federal judge in, I believe it was DC, temporarily blocked the White House ballroom construction today. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it was that was right as we were heading towards the bar here.

[SPEAKER_04]: We'll get the details for you that will be later But I was like I say just do pull a Donald Trump and pull as many stunts as you can to keep it in the courts as long as you possibly can Well, and speaking of stunts tomorrow will be April 1st. [SPEAKER_00]: Do not don't have any cunning stunts here and notice I say those words very carefully [SPEAKER_00]: If you don't understand, try to save them five times fast and then you'll figure it out.

[SPEAKER_04]: Oh no, I had an old boss that we had to do that with. [SPEAKER_04]: Say those say those two words not those, but it was another combat combo plate of similar things Motherfax and plucker close buncha it's like don't say that too fast. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's your I I know you're looking at me like don't say it don't say it Don't do it. [SPEAKER_04]: I don't want to believe you [SPEAKER_00]: it's only happened once this year.

[SPEAKER_00]: So I honestly, I almost bleep myself even before we got to the bar today because I was looking at the the super girl, the new trailer for that. [SPEAKER_04]: I can't wait to see that. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, unless, well, we'll talk about the unless thing. [SPEAKER_00]: We'll talk about a little bit later. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm like, you know, if you can't have that character that I like so much, we don't have some problems there. [SPEAKER_04]: Well, we'll know soon enough, you know.

[SPEAKER_00]: I know, I just, you know, I actually said that. [SPEAKER_00]: I went over to Twitter because that's where James Gunn is. [SPEAKER_00]: And I was like, you could have taken the character off. [SPEAKER_00]: We don't have some problems, boy. [SPEAKER_04]: I just have a feeling that no which character it is and I doubt it. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, I hope I hope so, but that's just it. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't trust Hollywood anymore.

[SPEAKER_00]: I don't trust, you know, they're like, this is the key character for this show. [SPEAKER_00]: We're going to kill them off. [SPEAKER_00]: Because I don't think they have the responsibility a lot of times. [SPEAKER_00]: They're like, I want the ratings. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm like, I want a good story. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm a care if you want to kill them off. [SPEAKER_00]: And I, it's that kind of irresponsibility that drives us all a little bit nuts.

[SPEAKER_00]: It's also quite frankly, the whole thing is, I also dislike that that when people are being irresponsible, they do things like Donald and Kegbreath did today, and the first round on the news on a tap, Trump's Iron War Blame Games. [SPEAKER_00]: So, Donnie had Kegbreath walk out there today, long and short. [SPEAKER_00]: It's basically been, well, I broke the whole thing, but everybody else in the world can fix it.

[SPEAKER_00]: That's that's Donald he literally is telling our allies and pretty much everyone else around the world Well, you can get your own well from the straight or home use. [SPEAKER_00]: I broke the damn thing, but you can do it [SPEAKER_04]: Well, I think that what Europe is doing is pulling away from us so that they can get their oil from there.

[SPEAKER_04]: Because if they keep pulling away from the United States, Iran has said outright, if you are aligned with the United States, none of your ships are going to get through. [SPEAKER_04]: Nothing is going through. [SPEAKER_00]: If you're not aligned with them or Israel, you just want to do your own thing. [SPEAKER_00]: Now, they're not going to give up Israel, but they might give up baby. [SPEAKER_00]: We'll see.

[SPEAKER_00]: But the bigger thing is the fact that [SPEAKER_00]: It's more and more clear that Donald is a puppet, both of Netanyahu and of the UAE in the Saudis. [SPEAKER_00]: We've got that story second in the news on Tap today that the Gulf allies are urging Trump. [SPEAKER_00]: You keep doing it. [SPEAKER_00]: You're, you're, you're our pocket bully. [SPEAKER_00]: You go pick on them for us. [SPEAKER_00]: You'll go start to fight with us.

[SPEAKER_00]: My thought is, you guys have enough money. [SPEAKER_00]: higher and get your own army. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, mercenaries. [SPEAKER_00]: Right, or whoever conscripts your people and Saudi Arabia. [SPEAKER_00]: They absolutely the laws. [SPEAKER_00]: They can do it there. [SPEAKER_00]: You want to do it. [SPEAKER_00]: You want to have war. [SPEAKER_00]: Do it yourself. [SPEAKER_00]: But we are not here to be your army. [SPEAKER_04]: Right. [SPEAKER_00]: So suck it.

[SPEAKER_04]: Well, and you're up is right by saying F you like you can't fly over us. [SPEAKER_04]: You can't land here. [SPEAKER_04]: You can't Italy set it now and she's you know because she's she's kind of aligned with it. [SPEAKER_00]: She's got her own political problems. [SPEAKER_00]: She's got her own domestic stuff at home.

[SPEAKER_04]: home she didn't have the political capital anymore to let Donnie drag her all over the exactly she's smarter than that and so Spain has said no Francis said no Italy has said no it's like soon the entire the UK is saying F you and it's just like [SPEAKER_04]: What I said earlier on the last two shows I did, I do believe that because Putin is helping Iran, it's a big FU to these United States for messing with their war in Afghanistan.

[SPEAKER_04]: because we have to tell a ban and what happened to the USSR. [SPEAKER_00]: That is went. [SPEAKER_00]: Don't. [SPEAKER_00]: I think you're right. [SPEAKER_00]: That is very, that is very Putin. [SPEAKER_00]: That is very Putin. [SPEAKER_00]: It's, I'm gonna get you back in the same way that I think we were gotten by you. [SPEAKER_04]: And he plays a liar game. [SPEAKER_04]: He plays a long game. [SPEAKER_00]: Uh-huh. [SPEAKER_00]: Johnny's right.

[SPEAKER_00]: I'm gonna ask Melia tomorrow. [SPEAKER_04]: But, you know, I just seriously, I think that's what, that's why Putin is playing both sides. [SPEAKER_04]: Plus he's gonna make money either way. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, look, and, and it's damaging. [SPEAKER_00]: Look, we have a photo in the photo collage today of that radar aircraft extremely expensive boom touched.

[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, it's the whole thing is, and this is publicly, you've got keg breath out there going, you know, and donning it all, you need to do it yourself. [SPEAKER_00]: And privately, what they're saying is, yeah, we can end the war without reopening the street. [SPEAKER_00]: We could just end the war and say it's basically done because he wants out. [SPEAKER_00]: He's done. [SPEAKER_00]: He's bored with this. [SPEAKER_04]: Yes, he's very bored.

[SPEAKER_04]: And if they don't reopen the street, [SPEAKER_04]: Who screwed up? [SPEAKER_04]: We are. [SPEAKER_04]: And that's up. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh my god. [SPEAKER_00]: Uh huh. [SPEAKER_00]: Yep. [SPEAKER_00]: He's right again. [SPEAKER_00]: So you look at this. [SPEAKER_00]: Smart women smart women being right is something that I really enjoy.

[SPEAKER_00]: You know, I'm just saying, and I enjoy that I get to do the show with, you know, a brilliant woman who is smart on a regular basis, which, you know, it helps, you know, it makes me look better. [SPEAKER_00]: I'll say that much. [SPEAKER_00]: And you're saying it doesn't make you look better. [SPEAKER_04]: No, it makes you look better. [UNKNOWN]: I do [SPEAKER_00]: I think you are plenty smart. [SPEAKER_00]: I think you are very smart on that.

[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously, like I said, Kimberly Johnson, we'll be coming in very soon on all of this. [SPEAKER_00]: I've got to say the growing cost of the war, this is the thing that's hurting everybody. [SPEAKER_00]: So gasoline hit $4 a gallon officially, a highest price since 2022, and Republicans and Congress have an idea to make things cheaper. [SPEAKER_00]: They want to cut more money to your healthcare. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: The fund Donald's war.

[SPEAKER_04]: I think the people in the villages would love that. [SPEAKER_04]: Don't you? [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, look, your health care costs are not expensive enough according to Republicans. [SPEAKER_00]: We've literally got the story in the first round under the growing cost of the war.

[SPEAKER_00]: Didn't a news on tap, which you can get free at the politicsbar.com, but literally Republicans want to go in and cut money for Medicare and Medicaid to fund Donald's stupid ass war in Iran. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't understand in any way how that is, in any way, workable. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't, I don't get it. [SPEAKER_00]: It doesn't make sense to me. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't understand. [SPEAKER_04]: I don't understand. [SPEAKER_04]: I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't.

[SPEAKER_00]: Do you say juicy Kimberly around here? [SPEAKER_00]: Kimberly are you there? [SPEAKER_00]: I'm here. [SPEAKER_00]: Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha

[SPEAKER_00]: Well, you know, look, it's, it's, it is important to actually have all of our friends here and hanging out and, and talking about things, especially when, you know, obviously, uh, today, I'm, I'm sure you knew this today is Trans Day of Visibility, and we all have some Trans friends. [SPEAKER_00]: Yes. [SPEAKER_00]: And, and I, I just, I, so this, this Olympics thing, we, we had it a few days back that we talked about that the, the Olympics are now going to disallow.

[SPEAKER_00]: or they're going to try to disallow, but only women. [SPEAKER_00]: Only trans women. [SPEAKER_00]: Of course. [SPEAKER_00]: Of course. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm like, this is so, because I remember both of you, both of you, Jody and Kimberley, you both have this, you get mad, I get mad at it too, but you guys are like, wait a minute, why aren't they not banning trans men if they're gonna ban trans women?

[SPEAKER_08]: Well, you know, because I think John Lennon said it best, which I will not say. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't even know if we can say it on the radio. [SPEAKER_08]: But I would not, but he was correct. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, I just, it just, it bothers me. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm like, look, trans people are just people. [SPEAKER_00]: They are people like all the rest of us. [SPEAKER_00]: And since today is trans day of visibility.

[SPEAKER_00]: And I know that we have the story there last week's news on tap. [SPEAKER_00]: It just, I'm sitting there going, you know, who's going to get affected by this most? [SPEAKER_00]: People like Caster Seminiere, who is what? [SPEAKER_00]: A two-time Olympian? [SPEAKER_00]: Am I right now? [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I think so. [SPEAKER_04]: I think you're correct.

[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, two-time Olympian, and yet she's got a chromosome with difference or whatever, and so that was one of the things that they originally came up with the tests. [SPEAKER_00]: Parker Malloy did a great piece. [SPEAKER_00]: We should include that maybe tomorrow here in the news on tap, talking about how literally that's who's going to be affected more by this stupid ass thing. [SPEAKER_00]: And I'm sitting there going.

[SPEAKER_00]: This is just, it's, it's like the abortion thing. [SPEAKER_00]: It's like the, well, it's like the, the stupid ass case that the Supreme Court decided today. [SPEAKER_00]: We will, we'll talk about how have they sliced the bacon so thin on that one. [SPEAKER_00]: But I'm just like, Jesus, people, it's just let trans people live for God's sake. [SPEAKER_08]: Go ahead, people.

[SPEAKER_08]: I think what we're seeing here, and I mean, I absolutely do not want to or mean to any like diminish what's happening. [SPEAKER_08]: But I think that because the fascists are losing, they're going for everything all that wants. [SPEAKER_08]: And I'm not, of course, the people, of course it does. [SPEAKER_08]: But I don't think this is going to be what lasts. [SPEAKER_08]: It's painful right now.

[SPEAKER_08]: And until it can be changed back, and you know, [SPEAKER_08]: progressive legislation, which we come up to make happen, you know, on the thing, wishful thinking, I'm saying, you're saying we got a plan for this stuff. [SPEAKER_00]: And we do look, Kimberly Johnson is here. [SPEAKER_00]: It is a Tuesday night. [SPEAKER_00]: We got two brilliant women here. [SPEAKER_00]: And well, two brilliant women at the microphone.

[SPEAKER_00]: A lot of women hanging out in the audience and some intelligent men as well. [SPEAKER_00]: Fresh in your drink and we'll come back and talk more with Kimberly in just a bit. [SPEAKER_00]: Hang on. [SPEAKER_03]: We'll be right back after we pay some bills at the politics bar. [SPEAKER_00]: It is Tuesday night here at the politics bar, and you got the one, the only Kimberly Johnson other start me on podcasts We're joining us here in the politics bar.

[SPEAKER_00]: We always love when you come in. [SPEAKER_00]: We set we set the thermostat a little bit lower Because Bob always told us that that's just you know, it's the way you like your rooms to say it We aim to please as you know, so how you been? [SPEAKER_00]: What even up to lately? [SPEAKER_08]: You know, just the same old stuff trying to keep a same head during these weird gods. [SPEAKER_08]: I mean, that's really old.

[SPEAKER_08]: I'm trying to do I don't like I'm obsessed over Dana nurse Dana from the pit. [SPEAKER_08]: Oh, I love her so much right [SPEAKER_00]: We're all like we're all like there's day to the pit. [SPEAKER_00]: She's a badass. [SPEAKER_00]: I love this so much. [SPEAKER_00]: The actress is great too, but I love the character. [SPEAKER_08]: I love all of her. [SPEAKER_08]: She's my hero. [SPEAKER_08]: Catherine Vanessa is my hero. [SPEAKER_08]: I love her stina.

[SPEAKER_08]: I love her accent. [SPEAKER_08]: I love that thing about her. [SPEAKER_08]: And she's got the Pittsburgh accent perfect. [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah, she does. [SPEAKER_00]: She's she's really she's really I love the character. [SPEAKER_00]: I have known I have I have been blessed to know some women like that and I'm always I am always I would rather prefer to have somebody in my life like that who has I've joked about her before my friend who goes by the name rhubarb.

[SPEAKER_00]: She's up in the cities up in the AM 950 area When when we first met we were in college doing theater stuff and she always had a stick [SPEAKER_00]: for like, when guys would ask stupid questions, she'd just go up or wrap you on the back of the head. [SPEAKER_00]: We call it her Board of Education. [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: You know, and I'm like, I would rather that. [SPEAKER_00]: Because then, then I know if I'm going too far, it's not like she's mean about it.

[SPEAKER_00]: She's like, oh, hey, don't ask. [SPEAKER_00]: And you go, oh, right. [SPEAKER_00]: Sorry. [SPEAKER_04]: I'm like, hey, Jen, don't. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Maybe Jen, don't. [SPEAKER_04]: How was she doing? [SPEAKER_04]: Wait. [SPEAKER_00]: It's great. [SPEAKER_00]: Look, there's there. [SPEAKER_00]: There's a lot of news today. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if you heard this news yet, Kimberly.

[SPEAKER_00]: We heard this when we were coming to the bar today that federal judge in DC temporarily put a stop to Donald's construction of his ballroom. [SPEAKER_00]: So that that was a good thing. [SPEAKER_00]: The other big, you know, legal stuff today, you know, as we were hitting here before the break. [SPEAKER_00]: So the Supreme Court case came down today that was talking about the it's a case at a Colorado some folks may not have been paying attention to it.

[SPEAKER_00]: And you know, this is the kind of of crap thing that some of the monsters on the Supreme Court do, especially because it's trans day of visibility. [SPEAKER_00]: you know that somebody said we're going to do this purposely we're going to try to punch the trans community in the chest just to do this on today. [SPEAKER_04]: What's the gay community and the trans community?

[SPEAKER_00]: It's a common bit to you right exactly LGBTQIA right exactly you just like you jackasses but okay so the case for those of you who don't know um Colorado and about 30 other states I believe it is have a rule that bands conversion therapy because scientifically conversion therapy is proven to be torture it's torture it's absolutely torture

[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, so this case goes on a specific Colorado law that says if a therapist is confronted about this, the way that they wrote the Colorado law is that they basically said that they really can't really talk about conversion therapy. [SPEAKER_00]: It pushes the questioning person towards transitioning. [SPEAKER_00]: Which is fine. [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, you know, conversion therapy is torture, so yes, let's push them away from tortures first. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm concerned.

[SPEAKER_00]: The Supreme Court in an eight to one decision today. [SPEAKER_00]: Only one who was good on this was Judge Kataji Brown. [SPEAKER_04]: It's amazing. [SPEAKER_04]: Love her. [SPEAKER_00]: And she gave her a bottle from the bench. [SPEAKER_00]: So that girl knows she was pissed. [SPEAKER_00]: Right. [SPEAKER_00]: So, but their decision today was that the way that the Colorado law, and this is something you guys have to listen to very carefully.

[SPEAKER_00]: Everybody here in the bar. [SPEAKER_00]: The way the Colorado law is written. [SPEAKER_00]: It can't be done because it blocks first amendment rights to speech. [SPEAKER_00]: However, I know a lot of the media is running with conversion therapy is open again. [SPEAKER_00]: And that is not correct. [SPEAKER_00]: The Colorado law, banning conversion therapy is still in effect. [SPEAKER_00]: But the other law that says that they can't talk about it.

[SPEAKER_00]: That one is going back down to the lower courts. [SPEAKER_00]: We have a great piece of Aaron Reed in the news on Tap. [SPEAKER_00]: She is a great journalist who happens to be transgender. [SPEAKER_00]: She is a great legal journalist about this type of stuff. [SPEAKER_00]: And you would think somebody who is trans who is dealing with all the fear would have a problem going straight down the line and she does pretty damn amazing.

[SPEAKER_00]: So you can read that to the first article in the disordered in the court section. [SPEAKER_00]: But she talks about how this is going to go down to the lower courts. [SPEAKER_00]: And this is the key. [SPEAKER_00]: I listen to and I ask questions of a few lawyers today and this is this is what I found. [SPEAKER_00]: And I want you to talk to me on this Kimberly.

[SPEAKER_00]: I want you to talk to Jody and I and this because here's the thing that what I got from the lawyers so far is that it's accurate to say that the practice of conversion therapy in the state of Colorado is still banned by this

[SPEAKER_04]: that that's changed well that's a lot of therapy by the way is talk therapy right and that's where this runs into that wall right so i mean you know just because they can't physically torture them anymore doesn't mean they can't torture them mentally right

[SPEAKER_08]: Right, I think that, you know, I'm going to go, I'm just going to go back to what I was originally saying before the break and that, like right now, we're just going to have to deal with all of the fascist, I don't even want to call it legislation fascist. [SPEAKER_08]: They fall on us and it's going to hurt, you know, whether it's icing your neighborhood, whether it's journalist being arrested. [SPEAKER_08]: I mean, just the list goes on.

[SPEAKER_08]: Are we going to be nuking somebody? [SPEAKER_08]: Is that actually going to happen? [SPEAKER_08]: I mean, it's going to happen. [SPEAKER_08]: So, I mean, and if we nuk someone, okay, that's something that's going to be a lot harder to undo. [SPEAKER_08]: Okay. [SPEAKER_08]: Hi, no kidding. [SPEAKER_00]: No, I oopsies no takebacks on that. [SPEAKER_08]: I'm going to remain hopeful that we don't, you know, I don't have anything else. [SPEAKER_08]: I can't do anything about it.

[SPEAKER_08]: But, you know, with all these other pieces of legislation or rules or whatever they come up with and they're horrid, rain of terror, when this is over, it is our job. [SPEAKER_08]: It is our job right now to decide that it will be over, that we will make sure it will be over. [SPEAKER_08]: It's important, but we need action. [SPEAKER_08]: We need to get behind, you know, at all this bottom for democracy and get out and do things for it.

[SPEAKER_00]: And then we know this stuff we've been doing for all of the rallies. [SPEAKER_00]: This is planning, this is planning and teaching us how to plan and how to act collectively. [SPEAKER_00]: And it will help us on things like changing the laws in our cities and our states. [SPEAKER_00]: And yes, eventually in the federal government that we have from this worthwhile.

[SPEAKER_08]: I think it's really important, just in a general sense, no matter what's happening, it's obviously we have to be aware of what's happening, we have to understand it intelligently, and we have to understand, what is the better alternative, what can we do, but not what our focus on what, I mean, there's so much that makes us angry, and there are, I see things that make me angry all day, but my effort is not [SPEAKER_08]: to stay in that anger.

[SPEAKER_08]: My effort is like, okay, I'm angry. [SPEAKER_08]: There are problems. [SPEAKER_08]: What are we going to do? [SPEAKER_08]: Because if we stay in the, if we just stay in the energy of anger, we kind of give them the power. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_08]: But if we say, okay, we're angry, we're going to do something. [SPEAKER_08]: We're going to turn this anger into action. [SPEAKER_08]: I think people, I see more people doing that.

[SPEAKER_08]: I see fewer Democrats do [SPEAKER_08]: Please, again, do not misunderstand. [SPEAKER_08]: I'm not saying pretend things are different or ignore. [SPEAKER_08]: We have to face what's going on, but we all have the choice to stay in the anger of it or to say, okay, I'm going to use this to motivate me to action.

[SPEAKER_00]: Amen. [SPEAKER_00]: Amen. [SPEAKER_00]: I think I saw you on, I can't remember which social platform it is, saying something like that's here like last week or so being like, no. [SPEAKER_00]: You don't want to choose a couple of things, maybe to get angry about it and the rest of it, focus on some positive focus on getting things done, do not focus on the stuff that makes you angry. [SPEAKER_00]: It always reminds me, my mom used to say it, my dad used to say it, my stepdad.

[SPEAKER_00]: He used to remind me big time because it was one of his big things that he learned from A.A. [SPEAKER_00]: Was was the fact of do not make major decisions in anger ready to say that all the damn time on Absolutely because when we make decisions in anger All we make some really stupid.

[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so I think your advice is a hundred percent correct on this game Really and I think what people need to know about this particular decision from the Supreme Court and especially because Justice Kagan [SPEAKER_00]: Well, she did decide to, you know, hang with the others. [SPEAKER_00]: Which is what they're looking for. [SPEAKER_04]: Speech stuff is what they all decide to write.

[SPEAKER_00]: But she gave a pathway, basically, because she wrote a separate kind of concurrence if you will, and that's often times where they will lay out their pathways, saying to people, this is how you get it done. [SPEAKER_00]: If you're in Colorado, if you're listening to us in Denver, Fort Collins or Boulder or wherever our vada, wherever you happen to be, you all need to get on the stick now. [SPEAKER_00]: Now you need to go to your legislators.

[SPEAKER_00]: because what Kagan did is she said if you go back in and adjust and specify the hell out of this law because this law is going back down to the 10th circuit this is go back to the 10th and this isn't the conversion therapy law this is the talking about conversion therapy law

[SPEAKER_00]: So you need to specify that it is as neutral as possible so that when the court then picks this back up because it's getting said back to them, they will look at the state of Colorado and say, what did you do? [SPEAKER_00]: If Colorado sets out a great example of what to do, those other 29 states that have similar laws, knocking down conversion therapy, they'll know what to do too. [SPEAKER_00]: and they'll be able to better protect the trans people who live in those states.

[SPEAKER_00]: So now you guys got to get informed and make sure that you go inform your state legislators there in Colorado. [SPEAKER_08]: And that is action, you can take if you're angry, you can take that action, another thing that you can do that's not necessarily about this topic or issue.

[SPEAKER_08]: But I keep telling people that indivisible is such a great resource for keeping up with your community because authoritarianism and fascism, it's harder to take hold when you have strong communities that are back in each other out. [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah, that's true. [SPEAKER_08]: We have, you know, people think there's nothing I can do. [SPEAKER_08]: They're writing all these laws. [SPEAKER_08]: They're passing all these laws.

[SPEAKER_08]: Yes, there is something you can do and it has nothing to do with the legislation. [SPEAKER_08]: It's going and buying five dollars with the canned foods and donating them to, you know, the homeless shelter. [SPEAKER_08]: or sometimes the shelters for women who are getting, you know, they need clothes, go through your closet.

[SPEAKER_08]: If you don't have a lot of money, you can still do things whether it's donating your time, donating, you know, stuff from around your home because the stuff that you're not using, a woman who is just left in abuse of relationship needs everything. [SPEAKER_08]: She has a care of each other and I think that, you know, people just look to government, [SPEAKER_08]: visible.org and there are local chapters and there's all kinds of things to do.

[SPEAKER_08]: In fact, I will say I had a wonderful guest on. [SPEAKER_08]: She's on YouTube. [SPEAKER_08]: She's called Knitting Cult Lady and she was talking about because she was raised in a cult and escaped. [SPEAKER_08]: Anyway, she nits, right? [SPEAKER_08]: All the time and there's also Park Rose permaculture. [SPEAKER_08]: So it's obvious, uh, millennials and they nits and she was talking about, you know, just go join a group.

[SPEAKER_08]: Like, I, I won't join a group of knitters just because I'm not done in it. [SPEAKER_08]: But I've got it. [SPEAKER_08]: But I mean, I would like the idea of knitting, I know I won't do it. [SPEAKER_04]: Joyce fans would, Joyce fans would totally, because she's in there. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, she's probably not. [SPEAKER_08]: But the whole thing is that these women get together and then they organize.

[SPEAKER_08]: So it's, you know, the knitting, it's not about the knitting or the book or the whatever reason you're calling your group, it's about getting together with people in your area and socializing and then sometimes it's just going to come up that you're going to, hey, let's let's go to this where Ali, hey, let's organize this event or something like that.

[SPEAKER_08]: It's a lot we can do if you're sitting there going there's nothing I can do that's not true go to Indivis and I don't work for indisvisible. [SPEAKER_00]: No, I know that There's a much for MSW which we also love so yeah, especially Kimberly because she [SPEAKER_00]: Exactly, but here's the thing. [SPEAKER_00]: It's funny that you say that because I was reminded of this. [SPEAKER_00]: I saw a right up was it's alternate. [SPEAKER_00]: Maybe it was talking.

[SPEAKER_00]: I don't remember something like that. [SPEAKER_00]: Maybe Ross story about Dan Goldman, who some people don't necessarily like, but he has followed Catabagasela's lead. [SPEAKER_00]: If you remember Catabagasela who was running in Chicago and she did very well, she did very well. [SPEAKER_00]: But she turned her campaign offices into mutual aid hubs, to help people with food and with clothing, with all these type of things.

[SPEAKER_00]: So Dan Goldman has decided to turn his office, which is right across the street from the immigration court.

[SPEAKER_00]: into an aid office for people who have immigration problems literally he's like you can come right across the street So you got the problem you come right to my office and and conveniently we have lawyers in my office who handle immigration and and so I'm I'm going I'm I'm glad to see you advocating this I'm glad to see you know indivisible, but I'm also glad to see actually in campaign

[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, that somebody else's following Kat's lead and you know what, I mean Goldman's a lawyer. [SPEAKER_00]: He's got a bunch of lawyers. [SPEAKER_00]: That's the thing that he can provide. [SPEAKER_00]: So he's providing what he can to help people and he's doing it for free, which is what she did to with her mutual. [SPEAKER_00]: That's that's the thing is you you do what you can with what you have. [SPEAKER_00]: It ain't perfect.

[SPEAKER_00]: Ain't nobody going to be perfect, but you do what you can with what you have. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm like, that's the way we should be doing it. [SPEAKER_00]: I just love the fact that you are exactly in that corner of the universe with us, Kimberly. [SPEAKER_00]: You are freaking brilliant, which we love. [SPEAKER_04]: She is not bad to look at either, by the way. [SPEAKER_00]: No, I was going to say there's that, too, you know? [SPEAKER_00]: There's the whole thing.

[SPEAKER_00]: And she's good friends with this guy, Bob, that we know. [SPEAKER_04]: Oh, Bob and Stephanie got divorced according to AI. [SPEAKER_00]: Okay, we got to talk more about that. [SPEAKER_00]: Everybody, you know, Kimberly, you also know That's that's the thing everybody around here does anyway. [SPEAKER_00]: Look Kimberly can we hang around for another another round here at least?

[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, Kimberly Johnson of the start of me a podcast here on a Tuesday night with Jody and me and you Fresh and you drank do what you got to do. [SPEAKER_00]: Hey if you missed it Jody's been wearing those politics bar t-shirts on the Stephanie Miller show this week You can get one just like her at the politics bar dot com store go there get your t-shirt You can do that during the break if you want it's easy. [SPEAKER_00]: Check it out.

[SPEAKER_00]: We'll come back more with Kimberly Johnson here. [SPEAKER_00]: It's politics bar hang on [SPEAKER_00]: And we'll be right back after we pay some bills at the politics bar.

[SPEAKER_00]: everybody who reaches out to us on the bar line two on three six seven seven seventy two fifty eight that's two one three six seven seven seven seven seven two five eight or two one three six seven seven soft like in your margarita big thanks also to everybody who reaches out to us on social media whether you are at threads or blue sky or Instagram Facebook Substack

[SPEAKER_00]: Twitter or YouTube, we're on all of those at the politics bar, which conveniently is where the one or only Kimberly Johnson is. [SPEAKER_00]: She's hanging out with us tonight. [SPEAKER_00]: By the way, looking over here at some of the stuff, Scano, over here at the Blue Sky Corner of the bargain, he says, look what Trump has gone. [SPEAKER_00]: We have to be out of the streets and record numbers, celebrating his demise.

[SPEAKER_00]: You sure I was saying, well, you need to quite go that far with it, but Scano did say, if we don't, we are not going to be able to earn the trust of any of our allies. [SPEAKER_00]: I agree. [SPEAKER_08]: Oh, I don't think we have to worry about that. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, God, you have you seen the polls? [SPEAKER_00]: We've got that a little bit for that out of the fourth round under pole positions. [SPEAKER_00]: From approval rating in the latest UMass Amherst poll is 33 percent.

[SPEAKER_04]: No president has ever been that low even Nixon wasn't that low. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, here's the thing during what are the people rating in two two new poll averages. [SPEAKER_00]: One of is the New York Times poll average. [SPEAKER_00]: This is an average of multiple polls. [SPEAKER_00]: You're talking like six to 12 polls. [SPEAKER_00]: Their poll average for Donald Trump's approval for the first time ever has gone below 40%. [SPEAKER_00]: That's the average.

[SPEAKER_04]: And I don't think any other president has been that low. [SPEAKER_04]: ever.

[SPEAKER_08]: No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no

[SPEAKER_08]: Yeah, I think that's what we're going to see I did too. [SPEAKER_00]: I think I think so do I Kimway what do you what do you I this has this has been my my content here for the last few weeks I think there is a perfect memorial to Donald Trump when when whenever he departs I think the perfect memorial That that will it will be a help it will be more of a help than Donald has ever been will be the Donald J. Trump Memorial urinal [SPEAKER_04]: on Hollywood Boulevard.

[SPEAKER_04]: We already have one by the way. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but see, but people have to clean that up. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm like, this will be more self-cleaning. [SPEAKER_00]: Although somebody tried to do that, actually. [SPEAKER_00]: We have that story, by the way, in the miscellaneous, but important. [SPEAKER_00]: There is a giant gold toilet that has appeared in that. [SPEAKER_00]: And that's so much.

[SPEAKER_00]: In front of the Lincoln Memorial, mocking Trump and his trying to remodel the White House, which as we mentioned earlier, a judge says, now you have to stop that, Donald. [SPEAKER_04]: No, Charlie Pierce said he's going to go out there because he's in DC right now. [SPEAKER_00]: Yes, he is. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm trying to catch up with him at some point, but he's got to, he's got to get up early and get his. [SPEAKER_04]: And this Supreme Court tomorrow because 14th Amendment stuff.

[SPEAKER_00]: He's got to go watch those boobs. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, speaking of boobs. [SPEAKER_04]: Nice segue young man. [SPEAKER_00]: Thank you. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, you know, look there. [SPEAKER_00]: The idiots at the Supreme Court. [SPEAKER_00]: There's the good ones and then there's the idiots. [SPEAKER_00]: Speaking of boobs. [SPEAKER_00]: So we didn't even put this in the news on tap.

[SPEAKER_00]: There's a couple of stories out there from MediaEight and the Daily Mail about Christy Nome and her husband who apparently likes to wear a pair of very misshapen boobs. [SPEAKER_04]: Well, and I'm sorry, uh, and hot pants.

[SPEAKER_04]: I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't

[SPEAKER_04]: two reporters also spoke get the fetish models who he was talking to obviously had an online relationship with gnome involving bimbledification. [SPEAKER_00]: Wait a minute, you mean he doesn't get enough of that at home? [SPEAKER_00]: No, it's a kick set. [SPEAKER_04]: I know he's got a Barbie at home, but it's a kick center around women becoming real life Barbie dolls with gigantic proportions.

[SPEAKER_00]: So, you know what, God bless him for that, you know, you do, you do, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you

[SPEAKER_00]: Well, you don't have to be open about it, but don't rail against other people who do. [SPEAKER_00]: Thank you. [SPEAKER_00]: Right. [SPEAKER_00]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_00]: It's kind of like Lindsey Graham, who, I don't know if you've heard this one, Kimberly. [SPEAKER_00]: I know Stephanie loves playing it, but I built this one and, you know, gave it to her, and obviously, you know, we have it here at the bar.

[SPEAKER_00]: But Lindsey Graham, somebody who's been doing this for years, obviously, we all know what Lindsey Graham is for activities are, and we don't care. [SPEAKER_00]: But he's always afraid like somebody's going to go somebody's going to reveal you and I'm like, I'm sorry.

[SPEAKER_00]: It's pretty obvious to tell when you say things kind of like, I don't think what it is, I don't think that's really well, I don't know because this is so this this comes from everything he did with with Maria Bart Romo it was like 90 seconds out of like a five minute interview and I just went in and remove the words that that he wasn't saying so so I can do this. [SPEAKER_00]: we're going to be all our needs. [SPEAKER_00]: We're going to blow that hell out of these people.

[SPEAKER_00]: Best money ever spent. [SPEAKER_08]: I'm just saying, you know what I'm saying is, and I can't be too clear, but I was someone who told me some information and I can't share it. [SPEAKER_08]: Sure. [SPEAKER_08]: But I'm going to work on the Hill back in the day. [SPEAKER_08]: There is supposedly information on Lindsay and some of the things that he did and it's not about him being a homosexual, it's about him purchasing. [SPEAKER_08]: some things.

[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, well, I mean, whatever, whatever his thing is, I'm like, if it was illegal, you should be held responsible. [SPEAKER_00]: And if it was legal, but maybe you're just scared to people find it out, dude, I have the idea. [SPEAKER_08]: I don't think it's, I mean, I seriously at this point in, like, there's so many, I know that the Republicans don't like the whole idea of gay people, but they would probably [SPEAKER_08]: the gate. [SPEAKER_08]: I mean, I don't know.

[SPEAKER_08]: I don't think they're going to have a big problem with them, because everybody has gay relatives. [SPEAKER_08]: It's just, it's not that ideal. [SPEAKER_08]: No, not anymore. [SPEAKER_08]: They try to make it a big deal and it's just not anymore. [SPEAKER_08]: There's going to be the home of folks out there, but I just don't think so. [SPEAKER_08]: I think it's much worse.

[SPEAKER_08]: I think that it was that he, you know, somebody told me, you know, back in the day, there was certain people outside of the hill and there was purchasing involved and they were very young. [SPEAKER_08]: So that's all. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, I'm that that could be got to remember the, uh, uh, what was, what was the old capital Hill phrase, uh, a dead, a dead, a dead hooker and a live hooker or a dead boy. [SPEAKER_04]: No, a live boy in a dead hooker. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, okay, right.

[SPEAKER_00]: No, you're right. [SPEAKER_00]: Joe, he's right. [SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, but, but. [SPEAKER_00]: But look, I mean, you know, there are other rumors that are floating around right now. [SPEAKER_00]: For example, unconfirmed, obviously, it's why we call them rumors. [SPEAKER_00]: We're in a bar, we can talk about them, but that Donald is mad at Stephen Miller.

[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, well, because he doesn't he doesn't he's he's realized that the way they've handled the immigration thing is heard his numbers significantly and and he apparently told everybody including Miller to back the hell off [SPEAKER_00]: That's why they put, you know, dump the lump back in charge over there temporarily at ice, and that's why they put in, you know, Mark Wayne, who I'm sorry. [SPEAKER_00]: I can't say it other than other than David, you know, over Bob show.

[SPEAKER_04]: Cause of Wayne McQueen McQueen. [SPEAKER_00]: right, but he's he's mad he's uh... that was mad because he told them all to back off this stuff because it was giving him bad numbers and then like what you say yesterday during that that over the weekend uh... yeah at uh... near marilago he wanted ice in dhs or cp he wanted people to instigate on Saturday

[SPEAKER_00]: which Miller saying that and people actually finding out and saying that Miller said that is exact is in exact opposition to what Donald wants and if Donald finds that out and he probably will because you know all the people that Oval Office surrounding him all got knives out for each other of course that would be like he'll be like excuse me Stephen what they held it I just said so yeah I'm obviously unconfirmed on that but I I [SPEAKER_08]: You're going to see the public there.

[SPEAKER_08]: Oh my god, but I don't know. [SPEAKER_08]: I don't look the the president of the United States is suffering. [SPEAKER_08]: What do they call it? [SPEAKER_08]: Temporal frontal lobe dementia. [SPEAKER_08]: I don't know what it is. [SPEAKER_08]: He's got no. [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_08]: He's his brain is active. [SPEAKER_08]: It's [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_08]: He's written this point. [SPEAKER_04]: He's written this point.

[SPEAKER_04]: He's written this point. [SPEAKER_04]: He's written this point. [SPEAKER_00]: He's written this point. [SPEAKER_00]: He's written this point. [SPEAKER_00]: He's written this point. [SPEAKER_00]: He's written this point. [SPEAKER_00]: He's written this point. [SPEAKER_00]: He's written this point. [SPEAKER_00]: He's written this point. [SPEAKER_00]: He's written this point.

[SPEAKER_00]: now I know carefully that you you you you love animals you're an animal lover you care about them greatly as do Jody and I hear bar absolutely so I am a little worried there is this new super girl um trailer that's out today and I'm gonna kill him [SPEAKER_00]: Krypton dog for those of you who don't want to know anything about it just get two and a half a second Krypton the dog gets injured by one of the bad guys and I being somebody who doesn't Don't tell me what any more.

[SPEAKER_00]: I'm like you better not kill him. [SPEAKER_08]: They want no Krypton. [SPEAKER_08]: No, they want No, I'm not gonna. [SPEAKER_08]: And you know what? [SPEAKER_08]: I mean, I'm right there with you because I can watch people getting murdered

[SPEAKER_08]: I think the dog will just get hurt and then it'll be this happy ending. [SPEAKER_04]: No, I think crypto is going to be fine. [SPEAKER_08]: Look, I trust I trust the two of you so I am very helpful to you too. [SPEAKER_08]: I'm fine with watching humans get murdered. [SPEAKER_08]: It's the animal. [SPEAKER_04]: Always when I saw legend and other movies.

[SPEAKER_04]: I'm like, do not it would an independent stay when they they had the dog with the first lady I'm like do not kill that dog do not right I think kill that dog right right although although you know I'm not a big fan of AI.

[SPEAKER_00]: I did see something that kind of made me go it has some uses I don't know if either a YouTube have seen this There's a clip out there where somebody redid the never-ending story and so a tray is horse actually lives Oh no [SPEAKER_00]: And then it all ends up happy anyway and you're like, okay, I'm good with that. [SPEAKER_00]: See the horse limbs so I'm good for it now I love that everyone story and it was very sad.

[SPEAKER_00]: Right, but that's why I'm saying the horse limbs in this it's so they go back and they go we fixed it and you're like, oh well [SPEAKER_04]: Well, I mean, Stephanie's dog, by the way, Bonnie, is the saddest looking dog at all times. [SPEAKER_04]: And I go, look, old yellow-lived, don't worry. [SPEAKER_04]: It's fine. [SPEAKER_00]: And then I heard, then I heard Bonnie's brother, basically scarfed her treats this pain. [SPEAKER_04]: He did.

[SPEAKER_04]: No ice, I've totally, in fact, Stephanie came down when we were done today. [SPEAKER_04]: And she goes, okay, the dogs barked to get down here today. [SPEAKER_08]: So you did Stephanie and then Bob and then this same on Thursday. [SPEAKER_08]: look at you. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that's what I'm saying. [SPEAKER_00]: She's she's super girl. [SPEAKER_00]: She's our own super girl and and no no killing of crypto. [SPEAKER_04]: That's no that's not going to happen. [SPEAKER_04]: Trust me.

[SPEAKER_00]: He won't do it because that will just. [SPEAKER_00]: Kimberly and Jody said it's not going to happen. [SPEAKER_00]: So my. [SPEAKER_00]: My. [SPEAKER_00]: My. [SPEAKER_04]: He's going to make us all cry.

[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, okay, but I'm just saying I'm I'm now trusting the two of you on this one So people should trust you Carefully that they can actually go to start me up thinking we've got the link right there in the guest section of the news on tap Who do you have do you have some of the guests that you know that you're got coming up or some people that you've had recently that you're looking at saying hey you guys can check this out

[SPEAKER_04]: She's a beautiful Johnson. [SPEAKER_04]: She's a tall Johnson. [SPEAKER_00]: Unlike she's a Johnson that we have in our Congress, which I really would like to get rid of.

[SPEAKER_04]: not that way I mean I just want him out of you know Congress I saw one guy on it was a video taping the L.A. March on Saturday and he's like oh look at everybody and look we have Mike Mike Johnson and he just went to a garbage can and he goes he looks better now than he's ever looked well you know if it's a it's a small garbage can [SPEAKER_00]: And look, I'm not saying, I mean, the man is not he is vertically challenged, but that's not why we call him tiny.

[SPEAKER_00]: Go and tiny because he's a small man. [SPEAKER_00]: Yes. [SPEAKER_00]: So just just saying that if you guys have not subscribed to the news on tap, you absolutely should do that. [SPEAKER_00]: That'll give you all the updates on things like the Iran War and of [SPEAKER_00]: Of course, the economics, Trumponomics is failing the first segment in our second round of the news on Tap tonight. [SPEAKER_00]: New report out today, Jody shows the US hiring rate fell to 3.1% in February.

[SPEAKER_00]: That's the lowest read since April 2020 at the beginning of the COVID pandemic. [SPEAKER_07]: Shocker. [SPEAKER_00]: You're so surprised. [SPEAKER_00]: Wow, please. [SPEAKER_00]: No, we're not. [SPEAKER_00]: Right, look. [SPEAKER_00]: Trump, they keep doing things that are so stupid. [SPEAKER_00]: The Trump regime has dealt a serious blow to new businesses. [SPEAKER_00]: there is a piece there.

[SPEAKER_00]: We've got it from the new republic but we've got a free link that you can go in and check it out. [SPEAKER_00]: Talking about how the Trump regime is banning green card holders. [SPEAKER_00]: These are legal permanent residents from receiving small business loans to help and to start new businesses and they're also banning any business that has somebody who is part of a partnership.

[SPEAKER_04]: Who is a green card [SPEAKER_00]: It is because during this time when the economy is sucking and we need all the new businesses that if you have the backing and you want to put some money towards it But you need a little bit of help. [SPEAKER_00]: That's what the small business administration is therefore try to help a little bit [SPEAKER_00]: But this is saying, no, no, no, no, you're brown or black. [SPEAKER_00]: You're not from here originally.

[SPEAKER_04]: OK, I just want to say the green card holders that are, say, you know, Aryan looking or they still get no, no, no. [SPEAKER_04]: So it's so it's still messing with them, not that many, but it's still messing with them. [SPEAKER_04]: Elon Musk, hi. [SPEAKER_04]: Well, he doesn't need them anymore, but still.

[SPEAKER_00]: well at one time he did and that's that's the thing is it's it's just it's it's it's ass and I it's absolutely absolutely well and the it goes along with the Republicans in Congress have been doing in the second part of the second round Republicans can't govern the shutdown disaster he's Brown has a great piece for MS now where he basically echoes what we said yesterday Johnson and House Republicans totally owned this DHS shutdown Donald is even begging Congress to come back from the recess

[SPEAKER_00]: I don't look I get he's from the CEO class where they say look we think you're great and we want to tell you employees you're great so instead of paying you more we'll offer you a pizza party [SPEAKER_04]: First off, if they come back from their vacation, they should come to work, not to go to a party. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, well, you know, that's, but it doesn't, here's the thing, the TSA agents that have left, many of them are not coming back.

[SPEAKER_00]: Because they got paid again, because Donald used money that he's not supposed to use from a big ugly bill. [SPEAKER_00]: But they don't know when they're going to get another check. [SPEAKER_04]: They got one and not all of their back pay. [SPEAKER_00]: No. [SPEAKER_04]: And not any overtime. [SPEAKER_00]: No. [SPEAKER_00]: No. [SPEAKER_00]: So not not overtime, not back pay. [SPEAKER_00]: You get a check. [SPEAKER_00]: It's some of the money we owe you.

[SPEAKER_00]: But not all of it. [SPEAKER_00]: And we don't know when you're getting another one. [SPEAKER_04]: Because Tiny Johnson won't allow it. [SPEAKER_00]: because tiny johnson doesn't seem to understand the meeting of compromise so in the meantime Republicans in the house stand there grabbing their tiny johnson and shaking your matters. [SPEAKER_00]: He's an angry little tiny johnson, but I'm sorry he's also impotent.

[SPEAKER_04]: But some of the people in the house are like killer filibuster. [SPEAKER_04]: Part of me is like, yes, do it because then the public will know what the Republicans actually stand for, which is why the filibuster is never going to be killed by either party. [SPEAKER_04]: I think Democrats should do it just get stuff done. [SPEAKER_04]: But. [SPEAKER_00]: a kill it and then re-institute it. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I think they could do it. [SPEAKER_00]: They could do it.

[SPEAKER_00]: Republicans would do it. [SPEAKER_04]: Get done and just, but, but the Republicans, their policies are not popular or good for the country. [SPEAKER_04]: So, kill it. [SPEAKER_00]: Kill it. [SPEAKER_00]: That's, that's, that's the, the thing is, I understand why they keep it and in some of some way. [SPEAKER_00]: Of course, it saves their asses. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, absolutely. [SPEAKER_00]: And it's a the ass of of whoever is in the minority, which currently Democrats.

[SPEAKER_04]: No, it saves the asses in the majority, because if the minority is still a bustering, it saves that ass because they, but it's do something political, political cover so that they can ups well. [SPEAKER_00]: We couldn't do it because it was the film. [SPEAKER_04]: That guy said I couldn't do it. [SPEAKER_04]: So, I mean, it's like the filibuster, because the house doesn't have that. [SPEAKER_00]: No, well, look, and this is this is something that not everybody understands.

[SPEAKER_00]: The House and the Senate, they're not all chummy. [SPEAKER_00]: Just building the same building. [SPEAKER_00]: There are a lot of, yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: And listen, Judd, this one. [SPEAKER_00]: There are a lot of house members that do not, I don't even say they don't like. [SPEAKER_00]: Some of them openly hate senators, not for anything specific, other than the fact that they're senators.

[SPEAKER_00]: Right. [SPEAKER_00]: And House members wish they had some of the tools that the Senate did. [SPEAKER_00]: And the Senate sometimes wishes that they had some of the tools that the House did. [SPEAKER_00]: But there are two different bodies with two different sets of rules for specific reasons. [SPEAKER_00]: And you will go back in history. [SPEAKER_00]: You will see this going back all the way to the beginning of the nation here.

[SPEAKER_00]: Where you'll see house members in some leaflet. [SPEAKER_00]: Lipping off.

[SPEAKER_00]: their version of it in 1700s about how the Senate should get well and I technically the the the the Phil Buster is more like hundred and some years old but whatever go back to the beginning of the Phil Buster and you'll see they they they will from from the beginning of the Phil Buster they will say oh well you know you should get rid of it that sucks you should do things the way we do them over here both houses do it both the house in the Senate they both look at each other and go you suck and I'm better than you but remember house the house you

[SPEAKER_04]: Well, for the 17th Amendment, I believe it is. [SPEAKER_00]: Some like you have before we direct elected them. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, because there was a lot of corruption with that. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, and that's, oh, speaking of corruption. [SPEAKER_00]: We got a whole segment on that nice segue, Jodie. [UNKNOWN]: Okay. [SPEAKER_00]: Look, we both can do the same way since good. [SPEAKER_00]: We've got a segment there and the third round today called Trump land keeps climbing.

[SPEAKER_00]: So there's a new report out confirming that Pete Higgs has snuck broker attempted to make investments in defense industries just prior to their array and more. [SPEAKER_00]: That's right, soccer. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, for all those people, you've 13 of you who 13 families who have service members who've died. [SPEAKER_00]: And the hundreds who've been wounded, congratulations.

[SPEAKER_00]: The Secretary of Defense, his broker, [SPEAKER_00]: Reportedly and this is reportedly you guys can check the report yourself.

[SPEAKER_00]: It comes from the financial times We've got a link And they're not that pretty conservative correct financial times is actually really conservative in a lot of ways But they're old fashioned conservative, you know honest as opposed to you know just kissing Donald's ass I understand but my name's in times basically says that as Pete's stockbroker was trying to make some money off of the war Before it started oh [SPEAKER_00]: which is absolutely disgusting and shabby illegal.

[SPEAKER_00]: Oh absolutely and also the fact that if the secretary of defense is making money off of war, I'm sorry that's that is some of the most disrespectful I makes me want to as as a veteran it makes me just I don't like the guy anyway. [SPEAKER_04]: Well, my problem with it is that BlackRock, who they were trying to invest with, which they flagged it, thankfully, but they have people that can invest in war. [SPEAKER_04]: So they're investing in death and destruction.

[SPEAKER_00]: Well, but they're investing in the death of American citizens. [SPEAKER_04]: And anywhere else, it's both. [SPEAKER_00]: It's safe. [SPEAKER_00]: Because we do kill people from other countries, unfortunately. [SPEAKER_00]: But also the fact that our military is all volunteer.

[SPEAKER_00]: So you are literally taking your fellow Americans, looking at them, they who had the courage to volunteer themselves and saying, yeah, once you go get Kelts back and make a buck, which is, which should be, I mean, the fact that BlackRock has a whole thing about investing in death. [SPEAKER_04]: of our citizens and others across the world. [SPEAKER_04]: They're discussing to me that people invest in that. [SPEAKER_04]: That's disgusting to me.

[SPEAKER_00]: These prediction markets are very similar. [SPEAKER_00]: Those are the worst. [SPEAKER_00]: They should be illegal. [SPEAKER_00]: We need to make things. [SPEAKER_00]: We need to get back into the business as a nation of smart regulation. [SPEAKER_00]: Yes, this is certainly more regulation, but smart regulation. [SPEAKER_00]: Thank you. [SPEAKER_00]: Because we need to be a hell of a lot better than we are right now. [SPEAKER_04]: Guys, this is a bit of a ridiculous.

[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: uh... also in the trumpland keeps priming section uh... january six insurrection who's pardon my trump has got a new prison sentence for possessing enormous amounts of child pornography do you think i don't believe it will pardon him because you know he's a kindred spirit [SPEAKER_00]: Well, y'all already pardon him once, I suppose he could pardon him a second time. [SPEAKER_04]: There's no reason he could. [SPEAKER_04]: It was at a state frame or federal crime.

[SPEAKER_00]: We, well, federal, because, you know, right, Donald and also the fact that, you know, it's one of the few times that you will hear somebody like the proud boys going around saying pardon me, pardon me, but. [SPEAKER_00]: just say and it's the only time they're nice like that.

[SPEAKER_00]: Another new report actually about the proud boys and other insurrectionists from the January 6th mob, they are suing US capital police members who helped to fend off the attack because the proud boys suffered emotional distress. [SPEAKER_00]: You try to stop me from beating your head in and pooping on the floor of the Capitol. [SPEAKER_00]: You're supposed to let me poop in the Capitol wherever I want.

[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, seriously, the capital of the lease, we're trying to defend Congress people. [SPEAKER_00]: They were trying to defend our job. [SPEAKER_00]: Our capital, the capital of the United States of which we are citizens. [SPEAKER_04]: Yes. [SPEAKER_00]: Jesus. [SPEAKER_04]: And those A-holes are trying to get money? [SPEAKER_00]: Two. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.

[SPEAKER_00]: Kind of like Pete trying to make money off of wars and he's going to get us into and kill other people's kids. [SPEAKER_00]: Uh-huh. [SPEAKER_00]: They are number one and I am in complete agreement with you on that journey. [SPEAKER_00]: That's that these are that that's that's why I titled that segment Trump land keeps climbing.

[SPEAKER_00]: I remember when I first heard uh as Valentin Maxwell and Jess McIntosh used the word climbing and it was like that is a brilliant freaking word.

[SPEAKER_00]: and quite frankly that's it's it's not quite legally convicted crime but it is climbing and that's the garbage that these monsters are doing but you know it's it's what it automatically i tell us when they show you who they are believe them the first time especially but i god believe them if they do it more than once anyway look i need a drink do you need a no drink do you want to we can make a drink [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, okay.

[SPEAKER_00]: Okay. [SPEAKER_00]: We haven't done the drink the day yet, so we have not made a drink. [SPEAKER_04]: No, no, we have not [SPEAKER_00]: No, no, no. [SPEAKER_00]: Joe is giving you a little hint for those of you who are subscribed to the drink of the day. [SPEAKER_00]: You guys know what she's talking about, and for those of you who are not, you absolutely should subscribe to the drink of the day. [SPEAKER_00]: We're going to go through it next.

[SPEAKER_00]: Remember, you can view the history for the drink of the day online for free at thepoliticsbar.com. [SPEAKER_00]: But you don't get the recipe. [SPEAKER_00]: And this one, this is a very specific recipe. [SPEAKER_00]: It's very specific.

[SPEAKER_00]: you want to subscribe to it's go check out the details there there at the politics bar dot com coming back with more the drink of the day and more news on tap it's you me and joney hanging out on a Tuesday night here at the politics bar we'll be right back after we pay some bills at the politics bar [SPEAKER_00]: it is Tuesday night, here at the politics bar. [SPEAKER_00]: Thank you so much for joining us from whatever corner of the universe.

[SPEAKER_00]: You are, you know, we always love you guys hanging out with us and making comments on all of our social media. [SPEAKER_00]: Look, you can find us on any of those whether you are at blue sky or Instagram, Facebook,

[SPEAKER_00]: Substack threads Twitter YouTube weren't all of them at the politics Mark got to give you this one Jody Mego lightly won over in the threads corner the bar over here She was referencing this video with a Colorado state Republican representative and She was like, you know We have our kids go down for a tour of this take capital and this jackass Said that teachers were lying about climate change. [SPEAKER_05]: What? [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Can you believe what she says?

[SPEAKER_00]: And she's Republicans are never going to stop this garbage lying to school kids during a record heat wave that has caused multiple wired wildfires already in the West. [SPEAKER_00]: She's like, what the hell? [SPEAKER_00]: And I told her I said, look, if Republicans stop lying, they would stop existing. [SPEAKER_00]: Seriously, think about it. [SPEAKER_00]: If Republicans told the truth constantly, they'd have to accept that most people actually hate their ideas, first of all.

[SPEAKER_00]: And second of all, they would actually have to accept the fact that most of their ideas are completely unrealistic and cannot work. [SPEAKER_00]: Yep. [SPEAKER_00]: So if they did that, basically, they would be Democrats. [SPEAKER_00]: It's like sometimes people come up with really stupid ideas and sometimes people just come up with ideas that nobody has ever really heard or seen.

[SPEAKER_00]: I think that kind of leads us into tonight's drink of the day, which is a fun way of getting to that. [SPEAKER_04]: That's one way. [SPEAKER_00]: What is the drink of the day? [SPEAKER_00]: Because when you give the title of the drink, people will know what it is. [SPEAKER_00]: So what's the drink in the inspiration? [SPEAKER_04]: It's called the like tour, I fell cocktail.

[SPEAKER_04]: And I'll say, and it's dedicated to March 3, 1889, when the Eiffel Tower was finally dedicated in Paris. [SPEAKER_04]: It had been built for a while, but it's just a formal dedication. [SPEAKER_00]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_00]: Certainly provided by Gustaf Eiffel, the tower's designer, who many people said, that'll never work. [SPEAKER_00]: You're putting steel together, that'll never work. [SPEAKER_04]: No, it won't glass. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, they were.

[SPEAKER_00]: And also, the fact is, the Eiffel Tower, while it's beautiful and great and a great symbol of Paris, it's actually not the most important thing, or at least some people think of that. [SPEAKER_00]: Especially when you're hanging out in a bar here. [SPEAKER_00]: You've got a great history. [SPEAKER_00]: I love this.

[SPEAKER_00]: I think I've got a couple of pictures that I added, and one of the things, wow, you know, you've got to help your friends, the thing is, the Eiffel Tower gets the tourists.

[SPEAKER_00]: And the bridges that that he did they don't people look at those that's absolutely I will also designed quite a few distilleries they did and you got some great pictures here of some of these distilleries it's in the drink of the day at the politics market as known as a cover and a call it combia of distillerie i mean it's it's remy martin distillerie uh... uh... look they produced triple sec and lucid absent which we can't get here [SPEAKER_00]: You can get Lucid Absent here.

[SPEAKER_00]: Lucid is the one that's legal. [SPEAKER_00]: Lucid is the new one, right? [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, the old one we can't get here. [SPEAKER_04]: No, we can't get you high. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: But look, all of those even sues, if you know what that is, that's good. [SPEAKER_00]: All of those are infosilities where their iron work was done by Gustaf Eithel. [SPEAKER_04]: Me? [SPEAKER_00]: So, very cool. [SPEAKER_00]: What is in a Latouri-Felcactel?

[SPEAKER_04]: It's a little similar to a French 75. [SPEAKER_00]: definitely got a lot of alcohol and and the fun thing is virtually all of the alcohol in here comes from facilities that work where the the mental framing was done by gust of people see that's how it works so what you're going to need is a mixing glass some ice a pre-chilled champagne flute which we don't use that often okay tuna has us of cognac [SPEAKER_00]: Right.

[SPEAKER_00]: Now, if you got it, use the Revy Martin Cognac, because Gustafi felt designed. [SPEAKER_00]: They're still ringing. [SPEAKER_04]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_00]: You can even use the VSOP. [SPEAKER_00]: It's a little bit less expensive. [SPEAKER_04]: So, well, it's still good. [SPEAKER_04]: A half ounce of quantro or combier. [SPEAKER_04]: It's lesser known than quantro, but if you have it, it's perfect because it went in the distillery.

[SPEAKER_00]: Right, from an e-feldesign, does this design distilleries say that in times fast? [SPEAKER_04]: We. [SPEAKER_04]: Half-hounds of shoes. [SPEAKER_04]: It's also from the distilleries. [SPEAKER_04]: And a splash of lucid absence. [SPEAKER_04]: And then a garnish of lemon twist, which reminds me literally of our French 75 a little bit.

[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I mean, the the look of it and I mean, it's more yellow than a French 75, but it's I think I've been made one by mistake once I like it doesn't taste like it but it's good. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's good. [SPEAKER_00]: It's just it's not what I expected But I think it's got a little bit more of a kick than a French 75. [SPEAKER_00]: Yes, well, there's more booze. [SPEAKER_00]: How do how do how do you make this one?

[SPEAKER_04]: Okay, splash a small amount of the absent into the chilled glass and swirl it to coat it, so it's just a week. [SPEAKER_00]: Just a taste. [SPEAKER_04]: Just a swirly thing. [SPEAKER_04]: And then you add the remaining ingredients to your mixing glass. [SPEAKER_04]: You add ice, and you stir it stir to chill. [SPEAKER_04]: And then you strain it into your flute and you garnish with a lemon twist. [SPEAKER_00]: Boom, it's big up. [SPEAKER_00]: Leave it also there.

[SPEAKER_04]: And Julie Patney said, Ulla la. [SPEAKER_00]: Yes, she did, Julie, over here in the sub-stack corner. [SPEAKER_00]: We love you. [SPEAKER_00]: Thank you very much. [SPEAKER_00]: She's amazing. [SPEAKER_04]: She tries all of our drinks. [SPEAKER_04]: She's amazing. [SPEAKER_04]: And we love Julie. [SPEAKER_00]: Look, we love all of you guys who, listen and of course, subscribe at the politicsbar.com. [SPEAKER_00]: If you missed any part of the drink of the day, you know what to do?

[SPEAKER_00]: Go subscribe there. [SPEAKER_00]: entertainment portion of the evening looking at the stuff in the fifth round of the news on tap Taylor Swift getting sued for trademark infringing over the last album she did the life of a show girl which [SPEAKER_00]: You know, if you read the piece and you read the case, it's like, I can kind of get it, but I still think they're different enough. [SPEAKER_00]: I think she'll be fine. [SPEAKER_00]: I think side said, Taylor's got good lawyers.

[SPEAKER_00]: So I just, I think somebody who is searching for a payday and I hope they don't get it. [SPEAKER_00]: There's Jeffrey Epstein TV series in the works. [SPEAKER_00]: Laura Dern is now slated to play journalist Julie K Brown. [SPEAKER_00]: That's yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and of course the script for that can't be completely finished yet. [SPEAKER_04]: Obviously.

[SPEAKER_04]: I think Laura will be great in it and because she's first off a great actor and she's a great human and I adore Laura. [SPEAKER_00]: And you know Laura, which is good to say. [SPEAKER_04]: I know her. [SPEAKER_04]: I mean, we went to high school sort of together because she was working when I went there. [SPEAKER_00]: So she was in and out in and out. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, she was working, but then at graduation, she was so sweet.

[SPEAKER_04]: She was like, oh my god, you're so nice to invite me to stuff. [SPEAKER_04]: I'm like, Hi, Laura, it's Jodie. [SPEAKER_04]: And her mom was very sweet to me and I've met her father. [SPEAKER_04]: And then she, she played my mom's daughter on palm rail. [SPEAKER_04]: So, [SPEAKER_05]: Yes, she did. [SPEAKER_05]: Yes, she did. [SPEAKER_04]: No, Laura is a very sweet human being and she's a hell of an actor.

[SPEAKER_00]: And when this goes to TV, maybe she'll come by the barn hang out. [SPEAKER_00]: Because I know she's politically active. [SPEAKER_00]: She is, which is all she is. [SPEAKER_04]: And she's an amazing human. [SPEAKER_04]: So watch it when it comes out. [SPEAKER_00]: If, by the way, you want to watch the super girl trailer, we have a link on that. [SPEAKER_00]: So we talked about that earlier. [SPEAKER_00]: Obviously, we did.

[SPEAKER_00]: So Florida police have confirmed that Tiger Woods had hydrocodone pills in his pants after the view I roll over crash and he appeared severely impaired. [SPEAKER_04]: So it wasn't drunk. [SPEAKER_04]: He knew not to pee. [SPEAKER_04]: He knew that would be in his urine. [SPEAKER_04]: He should have just had a driver. [SPEAKER_04]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_04]: That as well. [SPEAKER_04]: I mean the man who's been pulled over and had problems four times.

[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, because of because of wrecking a car. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, just so I mean, I'm glad he hasn't killed himself or anyone else, but others more than himself, by the way, because he keeps doing it. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, I just, I'm like, look, dude, get yourself some help. [SPEAKER_00]: I understand. [SPEAKER_00]: Look, I don't care how famous or infamous you are, addiction, Michael Jackson, Tom Petty, Prince, Whitney Houston, Prince. [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, yeah, God, Prince, yeah.

[SPEAKER_00]: That one every time you say it's still hurts, but yeah, I mean, these are all ungodly talented people fantastic people who we love Who had problems because and it wasn't because any of them that you know Princeton go out Michael Jackson did a whole thing back in the day against drugs It isn't like any of these people are like, hey, you know, this is what I want to do.

[SPEAKER_00]: It was because they too had injuries They got prescribed stuff [SPEAKER_04]: Well, Michael was, you know, as a child was given drugs. [SPEAKER_04]: I mean, Judy Garland basically was Michael, and Prince got issues with his back or something. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, a lot of it was the opioids and that's just it. [SPEAKER_00]: So I'm like, there's go get yourself, get yourself some help there, Tiger.

[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, uh, some some, uh, athlete who not having problems by the way, uh, Luca Dodchick is suspended in case you missed it on the Lakers. [SPEAKER_00]: So 41 year old LeBron James put the team on his back got 21 points at a triple double and powered the Lakers to a 1-21-1 win over the Washington. [SPEAKER_04]: That's where he's the king. [SPEAKER_00]: Also, I mean, it is kind of easy to beat the wizards. [SPEAKER_04]: But you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you.

[SPEAKER_04]: But so me is 41. [SPEAKER_04]: That's not easy. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, easy basketball. [SPEAKER_00]: Joe, you, you did hear about that case that was here in DC. [SPEAKER_00]: There was, there was this, um, uh, custody case. [SPEAKER_00]: So this kid, the judge has this kid in front of him. [SPEAKER_00]: And then back and forth between mom and dad and this kind of thing and and the judge finally says, well, you know, do you want to go with your mom?

[SPEAKER_00]: You want to go with your dad and the kid says, no, no, judge. [SPEAKER_00]: I want to go with the washing of wizards and judge says, why and he says, because they don't be nobody. [SPEAKER_00]: Just saying, just saying anyway. [SPEAKER_00]: You do a little work there on the offseason wizard to anyway.

[SPEAKER_00]: Women's NCAA final four repeat of last season yet same four teams headed once again by undefeated rating national championship Yukon so it's Yukon Texas, South Carolina and of course you're UCLA Bruins, Jody what's not mine It's my mom your carols right now. [SPEAKER_04]: I didn't go to UCLA. [SPEAKER_04]: I couldn't get it. [SPEAKER_00]: No, but you you cheer you cheer them because of course my mama [SPEAKER_00]: Right, but you know, Carol, we love your Bruins.

[SPEAKER_00]: That's fine. [SPEAKER_00]: And the Bruins women are kicking ass. [SPEAKER_00]: So it'll be it'll be fun weekend. [SPEAKER_00]: The men's and women's NCAA final fours this weekend. [SPEAKER_00]: So there you go. [SPEAKER_00]: All right. [SPEAKER_00]: I suppose we should get back to you know, some other actual news. [SPEAKER_00]: Look, it is the politics bar. [SPEAKER_00]: We do have political news here, so we should talk about some of that kind of stuff I suppose.

[SPEAKER_00]: Probably. [SPEAKER_00]: There's something actually I'm really, really glad about. [SPEAKER_00]: So Donald Trump and Republicans have shown us who they are. [SPEAKER_00]: Democrats are showing us who they are as well in Washington state fills corner the bar out in Seattle Washington state. [SPEAKER_00]: It's now law led by their Democrats and their Democratic governor has adopted a new tax on incomes over $1 million a well tax.

[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, and is it permanent like his California wants to do a one thing. [SPEAKER_00]: No, no, no. [SPEAKER_00]: Look the one time thing we know we can see this with the TSA folks and the fact that Elon Musk was oh, I'll help you pay the TSA folks once once is not enough on top of which there's no reason they shouldn't be paying their taxes [SPEAKER_00]: And the people who we want to charge for these taxes can afford people who are right. [SPEAKER_00]: They're so wealthy.

[SPEAKER_00]: They are never going to miss it. [SPEAKER_00]: No, it's not like they're going to go, oh, crap. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't have enough for dinner. [SPEAKER_00]: They will never miss a meal. [SPEAKER_00]: They will not lose one of their homes or their 17 cars or their lines or yachts, right? [SPEAKER_00]: They're not going to miss a damn thing.

[SPEAKER_00]: No. [SPEAKER_00]: So there's no reason not to tax them because among other things, they create a lot of people don't don't realize wealthy people create an outsized burden on the rest of society. [SPEAKER_04]: They use us, they use our taxpayer dollars to pay for their roads, to get whatever they produce to them. [SPEAKER_00]: They also put all of us more at risk with their schemes that are on the stock market.

[SPEAKER_00]: They put the economy that the rest of us live on in significant danger because when they put their chips down on the table, they have enough chips that they can slant the table. [SPEAKER_00]: metaphorically speaking, you and I might have a chip or two or half a chip, some of us, some of us, just a chip off the chip. [SPEAKER_00]: But they got piles of chips.

[SPEAKER_00]: And if they lose, they make a bad bet, like say a stupid war, for example, or a really dumb politician who gets us into a stupid war, that can screw up the chips of everybody else. [SPEAKER_00]: So I'm sorry. [SPEAKER_04]: I know, and the fact that my governor is against the one time, I don't understand a Gavin. [SPEAKER_04]: He's afraid, and it's like you're not running for governor again. [SPEAKER_04]: So just let it go.

[SPEAKER_00]: That's just the thing, Democrats in general, need to be looking at the polls and need to be looking what people said this week and especially at the no Kings rallies and what they're saying every day, stop.

[SPEAKER_00]: being afraid just because you tell somebody something that they don't necessarily like doesn't mean that they may not vote for hell they may respect you more because you came out and told them the truth and told them what the hell is going on and they go I don't like what I'm hearing but at least I'm glad that you were honest with me about it. [SPEAKER_04]: Well, the thing with Gazzam, Gazzam, with Gazzam, with Gazzam, with Gazzam, I'm not going to go there.

[SPEAKER_00]: I know, well, you can't hide. [SPEAKER_04]: He's free anyway. [SPEAKER_04]: He's very pretty. [SPEAKER_04]: With Mr. Newsom, we'll just go with that. [SPEAKER_04]: Is he's worried that people who've out of state? [SPEAKER_04]: No. [SPEAKER_00]: And if they do so what they are so wealthy, many of them will still keep a house. [SPEAKER_00]: Maybe it's not their primary house, but congratulations, they're still doing this.

[SPEAKER_04]: And their companies are going to still stay here because they're getting, you know, there are ways to tax them. [SPEAKER_00]: And that's the thing is they have the money, we mean the money, and quite frankly, [SPEAKER_00]: Our governments, local state and federal for the last 40 plus years, have been handing out tax cuts like candy to children. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, anybody can have a tax cut. [SPEAKER_00]: Tax cuts cost money. [SPEAKER_00]: They are not free.

[SPEAKER_00]: Nope. [SPEAKER_00]: And it is time that we took back some of that money because the rest of us need it. [SPEAKER_00]: We needed to fix our roads and our infrastructure and they need it too. [SPEAKER_00]: Because if we have more educated people here with less debt, they'll be happier when they go work for these people. [SPEAKER_04]: So they don't want to seducate it either. [SPEAKER_04]: So there's that.

[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, we talked about that sometime when we're talking about robots and AI, and all of that garbage. [SPEAKER_04]: But Ronald Reagan started that. [SPEAKER_00]: Stop teaching civics people because then people know what's going on people need to learn civics more people also need to be more informed We have one more round here. [SPEAKER_00]: You ready to hang out with me and run this one down, Jody?

[SPEAKER_00]: Sure. [SPEAKER_00]: It's my job Well, there's that last call on a Tuesday night. [SPEAKER_00]: You got Jody Hamilton shots with Pierce. [SPEAKER_00]: That's me and you hang it out of the politics bar fresh in your drink and come right back [SPEAKER_03]: We'll be right back after we pay some bills at the politics bar. [SPEAKER_00]: I know. [SPEAKER_00]: Judges kind of like, okay, okay, she shrug that one off. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't care if I'll be 80 years old.

[SPEAKER_00]: I will still find that joke funny. [SPEAKER_00]: Just saying. [SPEAKER_00]: It's so old. [SPEAKER_00]: It's so old, but it's a fun joke. [SPEAKER_00]: Look, if you're like, man, you were doing better earlier in the show. [SPEAKER_00]: That's fine. [SPEAKER_00]: You can roll it back if you want to. [SPEAKER_00]: All you gotta do is subscribe at thepaltixbar.com or on your favorite podcast player.

[SPEAKER_00]: We appreciate if you subscribe on your favorite podcast player but the benefit of subscribing at thepaltixbar.com. [SPEAKER_00]: It's $6 a month. [SPEAKER_00]: You get the podcast ad free. [SPEAKER_00]: You can listen to it at twice speed if you want to or have speed. [SPEAKER_00]: We don't judge. [SPEAKER_00]: And you get the news on tap which we throw in for free and you get the drink of the day with the recipe.

[SPEAKER_00]: So that way you know how to make the wonderful Eiffelic cocktail that we had. [SPEAKER_04]: The story fell at whatever it was called. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that's good. [SPEAKER_00]: It's good. [SPEAKER_00]: So look, details are all there. [SPEAKER_00]: You know where they're at at the politics bar dot com. [SPEAKER_00]: I am still heartened. [SPEAKER_00]: I know we talked with Kimberly Johnson earlier tonight about the Spring Court ruling today about the the case in Colorado.

[SPEAKER_00]: about the conversion therapy, crap. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: And look, look, this is what I said. [SPEAKER_00]: I said that conversion therapy is still illegal in Colorado. [SPEAKER_00]: And look, you guys can check the details out and the link we have Erin Readler, a great piece, and she confirms it too. [SPEAKER_00]: But I also said, if you look, I listened to a couple of the legal experts.

[SPEAKER_00]: I asked a few questions online, both out in the open and in private. [SPEAKER_00]: And what the experts of I know said is this is a narrow ruling and it can be defeated in the state in the state of Colorado if the Colorado legislature gets on the stick. [SPEAKER_00]: And the cool thing is, you were telling me, Jody, that Chris just, Justin Otley. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, he's, look, he's headed to bed now. [SPEAKER_00]: So, I Chris can I. I Chris.

[SPEAKER_00]: Little Adrian, but he's booked, well, remind me who Justin Otley is. [SPEAKER_00]: I know he's been on Steph's show before. [SPEAKER_00]: Obviously, you're filling it for Steph's. [SPEAKER_04]: Here, I'm just gonna read this. [SPEAKER_04]: Justin Ali he's a friend of Chris is by the way. [SPEAKER_04]: Oh, okay. [SPEAKER_04]: He wants a band conversion therapy, obviously. [SPEAKER_04]: But he wants to explain why the ruling is super narrow and can be defeated in other ways.

[SPEAKER_04]: He's been blah blah blah. [SPEAKER_00]: He's been at the forefront of the the effort to basically band that he went under it as a Mormon. [SPEAKER_04]: Oh wow, so he's got a first-hand thing on what it is and he's been there and done that before and so I am I'm so happy that Chris Booked him because that's thank you, Chris over Thank you very much Chris.

[SPEAKER_00]: Look, that's it's so just and at least gonna join you tomorrow on the Stephanie Miller show and confirm What we were just saying right here, and I think it'll calm a lot of people down [SPEAKER_04]: Look, that's the the biggest thing we were when we were talking about it when Bob brought it up because I didn't know I'm like, oh, no, I'm angry. [SPEAKER_00]: Right. [SPEAKER_00]: Right. [SPEAKER_00]: And it look, I understand.

[SPEAKER_00]: Because you were busy with a staff show and then you were in a Bob's house and then and then you did the show there and and it happened, you know, mid, mid late morning, whatever. [SPEAKER_00]: But here's the thing. [SPEAKER_00]: The fact of the matter is, uh, [SPEAKER_00]: I've started to cotton on to the way that these idiots do things. [SPEAKER_00]: One of the things that they are constantly doing is trying to piss us off.

[SPEAKER_00]: They want us to be so angry that we can't see straight. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: So then we can't fight them. [SPEAKER_00]: Because we're so busy, steam coming out our ears. [SPEAKER_00]: Eyeballs, molding out of our head, so pissed off. [SPEAKER_04]: Like Kimberly said, anger is great motivator, but just like you said, don't do anything in anger. [SPEAKER_00]: Right, don't make decisions in anger.

[SPEAKER_00]: Randy Rhodes said that a billion times for those of you who are here in the bar and used to listen to her all the time. [SPEAKER_00]: She was correct on that as well. [SPEAKER_04]: Absolutely. [SPEAKER_00]: She perpetually gets the bell just because she was right about most things. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, she was. [SPEAKER_00]: The fact of the matter is, it's very simple guys.

[SPEAKER_00]: This is that look, look, listen to Maro, listen to you, Jodi, fill in a first half on the Stephanie Miller show. [SPEAKER_04]: It's a top of the second hour tomorrow. [SPEAKER_00]: Okay, there you go. [SPEAKER_00]: So there you go. [SPEAKER_00]: Now, you know, something else that Donald has been doing to piss people off is obviously screwing with the White House. [SPEAKER_00]: So we got more details on that.

[SPEAKER_00]: This came down a little bit earlier today before we came into the bars when I was leaving my house to come to the bar. [SPEAKER_00]: Federal Judging Washington DC issued an order temporarily blocking the construction or any modification of Trump.

[SPEAKER_00]: uh... the white house ball room or any basically further modification it's uh... let's see u.s. district judge richard leon and appointee a president George w bush so a republican appointee a republican republican obviously somebody who was vetted by the uh... federal society because that's the only ones that bush picked uh... they've done it [SPEAKER_00]: Right. [SPEAKER_00]: I said, quote, I have concluded that the national trust is likely to succeed on the merits.

[SPEAKER_00]: The merits of their case stopping Trump from messing with the White House because no statute comes close to giving the president the authority he claims to have. [SPEAKER_04]: Well, let's hope they just, my view is just keep it in the courts, because once it's still in the courts, then contractors and other people that are hired will not dare touch it. [SPEAKER_00]: This is an expansive ruling.

[SPEAKER_00]: Jody, this goes to including, but not limited to any further demolition, site prep work, landscape alteration, excavation, foundation work, or other construction or related work. [SPEAKER_00]: Other than actions that are strictly necessary to ensure the safety and security of the White House and his grounds. [SPEAKER_00]: Now, Judge Leon posed the order for a pause the order from taking effect for 14 days to allow them to appeal, which you know that Trump will appeal.

[SPEAKER_04]: Right. [SPEAKER_00]: But the judge took his time looking over all of this and he said very clearly there is no law that allows Donald Trump to do this stuff. [SPEAKER_00]: none. [SPEAKER_00]: And he wrote a less than till Congress blesses this project through statutory authorization, construction has to stop. [SPEAKER_00]: Leon wrote that the president of the United States is the quote steward of the White House for the generations of first families.

[SPEAKER_00]: He is not however the owner. [SPEAKER_04]: Thank you. [SPEAKER_04]: We are exactly. [SPEAKER_04]: He's a tenant that doesn't have to pay rent basically. [SPEAKER_00]: He's a rancher who pretty much destroyed one third of the house that we let him live in for four years. [SPEAKER_04]: And and the fact that he did that should so many reasons to arrest this man.

[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, the list of reasons, I mean, the least of our reasons, but still look, I am glad that that our friend, Glenn Kirchner, is all about the American accountability project now, which I still love the fact that we came up with that name here at the bar, and we and Glenn came up with the bar here for the American accountability project. [SPEAKER_00]: And we love the fact that he is using that, but people need to be paying attention.

[SPEAKER_00]: By the way, if you have not subscribed to Glenn Kirchner, sub-stack at you, definitely. [SPEAKER_00]: We're gonna get Glenn back in here, but the point is, [SPEAKER_00]: And for all of the things that these monsters do to us, their mortal, they are human, they fail, they piss each other off, they make errors, they make mistakes, they are not invincible monsters that cannot be defeated. [SPEAKER_00]: And I think this last weekend was a nice reminder.

[SPEAKER_00]: Across the country in so-and-place did you did you catch after we got home from bar did you catch Rachel on actually No, you probably went home with us later. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so Rachel spent I think she did two segments Where she was going around and had pictures and video from all like small towns and big cities She must have hit like 60 some places across the country. [SPEAKER_04]: Did you get the place in Alaska? [SPEAKER_00]: I think I saw Alaska one point.

[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I saw I was Hastings, Nebraska. [SPEAKER_00]: I saw that. [SPEAKER_00]: I saw all kinds of small towns and big cities and suburbs and every corner of the US. [SPEAKER_00]: And I was really freaking proud of y'all. [SPEAKER_04]: And Tom Hartman agreed with me. [SPEAKER_04]: He's like, look.

[SPEAKER_04]: there was they're saying it's nine million people that showed right but don't forget the people that live tweeted or live you know right boosted online like gdd and me and couldn't go because of work or other reasons that wanted to be there and you online version went that way right and then the others that were honking he goes we we hit the three point five percent i think we've hit it i think we how to hit it in october but we definitely hit it now

[SPEAKER_00]: Look at that, both Tom and Randy good bells today. [SPEAKER_00]: Neither one of them were here in the bargain right. [SPEAKER_04]: So we'll try to get Tom. [SPEAKER_00]: We'll pass them on this. [SPEAKER_00]: We'll pass the bells to them. [SPEAKER_00]: But the idea is just the fact that now we got to sustain this.

[SPEAKER_00]: And one of the things that helps sustain it is making sure that like Kimberly was saying early, that we're not doing, that we're not doing scrolling, that we're not wasting our time, that we're not wasting our energy. [SPEAKER_00]: Fighting these people. [SPEAKER_00]: If you go have you noticed that there have been more more trolls on some of the other different social media platforms. [SPEAKER_04]: I only go on when I have to.

[SPEAKER_00]: I don't you go on check a couple things and then you hop off. [SPEAKER_04]: Then I I've never been a doomskroller because it's depressing. [SPEAKER_00]: Understand how to percent I mean I go in and I interact with certain certain different people and I you know Sometimes I can tell when the alley rhythm is pushing me.

[SPEAKER_00]: I can usually tell pretty well And I know that I am seeing more of the bots on the other platforms too Not just on Twitter or Facebook, but you're seeing it on the other platforms too And not just the meta stuff on other things No, I mean it's just for me when it was funny. [SPEAKER_04]: There early time in my podcast years ago Somebody [SPEAKER_04]: Somebody said that I look like a Chernobyl victim because I was so thin.

[SPEAKER_04]: I'm like, oh, you think I'm skinny [SPEAKER_05]: Thank you. [SPEAKER_04]: I just went to the queue. [SPEAKER_00]: I just need to say, I get it, but especially now, the ones I've seen lately, there have been ones popping into my mentions, who are, you know, those dogs, Democrats don't get it, elected Democrats are horrible.

[SPEAKER_00]: Look, can't I, because I was a friend of mine and she was railing against somebody against elected Democrats, but even she will give credit where it is due. [SPEAKER_00]: Absolutely. [SPEAKER_00]: Democrats who are doing a good job. [SPEAKER_00]: And there are a lot of Democrats who are coming around. [SPEAKER_00]: Cory Booker's got a new book out. [SPEAKER_00]: Maybe we'll see if we can get Senator Booker here. [SPEAKER_04]: That's on you, not on me. [SPEAKER_04]: You know who?

[SPEAKER_00]: No, I know. [SPEAKER_00]: I got to get it. [SPEAKER_00]: I know he's still technically, I think he's still technically in newlyweds, I think it's been a year. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Now maybe two years, whatever. [SPEAKER_00]: But the fact of the matter is, Booker was saying recently that we do need new leadership. [SPEAKER_00]: That he's not on. [SPEAKER_00]: That the Democratic Party needs new leadership.

[SPEAKER_04]: Because they are, especially in the Senate, [SPEAKER_00]: It's not just old though age. [SPEAKER_00]: It's old mindset. [SPEAKER_00]: That's it. [SPEAKER_04]: That's it. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: There are some Democrats who are young and have an old mindset. [SPEAKER_00]: We got to start trying new things. [SPEAKER_00]: We got to be on afraid to be uncomfortable. [SPEAKER_04]: Nancy Pelosi.

[SPEAKER_00]: She's in her 80s and it's still like go AOC go go do she's still mentoring folks And she's said that when she gets out she will still help mentor folks She wants to make sure the her 90s. [SPEAKER_00]: She's one of the speed dial Christine's great and I know she's running a good campaign out there in California So I'll just I'll I'll leave that at that because I don't want to buy us any button.

[SPEAKER_04]: I don't buy it But I think she should probably [SPEAKER_00]: It'd be great to have a great game of bar just stands the same thing, but [SPEAKER_00]: I am glad to see all of our friends, people who are like Joe Walsh, like Bruce Bartlett, who's like, you don't need to come on, I'm like, I should, but, oh, Sherry Jakobis is coming in this. [SPEAKER_00]: I know, I can't wait.

[SPEAKER_00]: And people from everybody from that end, obviously we want to see if we can get Carlos House Rocky back here and House Barks, who are definitely more on the left end of the spectrum. [SPEAKER_00]: And everybody in between, we are proud to be part of the broad left, and part of the fact [SPEAKER_00]: like Kimberly Johnson was saying in the hour one, we don't need to sit here and stew. [SPEAKER_00]: We need to get active.

[SPEAKER_04]: We need to, if, if you have ever, it is, like you said, you can volunteer, you can just, whatever it is. [SPEAKER_00]: Whatever it is in your community, that's going to help out. [SPEAKER_00]: Start local, start local. [SPEAKER_00]: Do, if you know statewide stuff, if, if your particular thing is maybe gardening, [SPEAKER_00]: There are, there are places where you can, yeah, whatever it is, find a way to help.

[SPEAKER_00]: But get out, get involved, get busy, live in, get busy, doing the things you need to do to help out the people in your community, not just here at the bar, but in your local community wherever you are, because that's how we're going to defeat these months. [SPEAKER_04]: Absolutely. [SPEAKER_04]: Which is why the far right, it's like, it's not community. [SPEAKER_04]: What are you thinking? [SPEAKER_04]: I'm like, dude, did you not go to a rally?

[SPEAKER_00]: Well, look, to the far right people, I would say, first you need to talk to Pete Kegbrest Stockbroker, then you probably need to talk to a Christy Nome's husband. [SPEAKER_00]: He's a boom. [SPEAKER_04]: Well, saying he likes boobs. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, he's married to her, so anyway.

[SPEAKER_00]: We'll update you tomorrow on that get home safe, whatever you're doing, obviously I can share your cobs later in the week, and of course on Friday, you know, we got Karen and Anita as well, more great guests, more great talk tomorrow, get home safe, and we'll see you here tomorrow night at the politics party.
