[SPEAKER_10]: It's political. [SPEAKER_10]: Thinking, radical. [SPEAKER_09]: Shotsmith, Pearson, Cody Hamilton. [SPEAKER_08]: Hey, Johnny. [SPEAKER_08]: Hey, Sean. [SPEAKER_08]: Hey, it's Thursday. [SPEAKER_08]: That's kind of like Friday Eve, right? [SPEAKER_08]: It is. [SPEAKER_08]: It's Friday. [SPEAKER_08]: Okay. [SPEAKER_08]: I'm good with that. [SPEAKER_08]: I'm good with that because man, the amount of news it's out there today. [SPEAKER_08]: Man, it is all burning up out there.

[SPEAKER_08]: There's the heat dome in the western half of the U.S. [SPEAKER_08]: again and of course. [SPEAKER_08]: And Trump's got his pants on fire, at least he would, if, you know, you liar liar pants on fire kind of thing. [SPEAKER_08]: We will talk about all of that. [SPEAKER_08]: And more, it is a Thursday night. [SPEAKER_08]: We are very glad that you are joining us here at the politics bar for more ever you happen to be.

[SPEAKER_08]: Whether that is WCPTA, M.A. [SPEAKER_08]: Twenty, D.J. [SPEAKER_08]: or talk in Tennessee, AM-Nine, Fifty and Minneapolis, April, America, one radio in Atlanta, or progressive voices radio worldwide, wherever you happen to be. [SPEAKER_08]: Or hey, maybe you're listening on the podcast and it is a completely different time of day in which case. [SPEAKER_13]: Hello future people. [SPEAKER_08]: Hello future people have a good day. [SPEAKER_08]: Whatever time of day or less.

[SPEAKER_08]: Yeah, exactly exactly exactly. [SPEAKER_08]: So how was your day so far? [SPEAKER_13]: Well, it should be less weird on the show today.

[SPEAKER_08]: less weird because yesterday Bob had something going on and then I had the doorbell was ringing right and there's a fire alarm in my apartment building before hand and then there was the other thing right yet yesterday was a little bit kind of weird that way I got that but I'm just happy that we have our new flashlights working because I'm anticipating an earthquake so [SPEAKER_13]: Why are you anticipating earthquake because what's been going on around the planet?

[SPEAKER_13]: We are way over. [SPEAKER_08]: No, no, no, I get that. [SPEAKER_08]: I get that. [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah, I understand. [SPEAKER_13]: I live in the ring of fire, baby. [SPEAKER_13]: I mean, no, no, this is true. [SPEAKER_08]: The ring of fire, not just something to describe Donald Trump's sex life, but [SPEAKER_08]: I know I get it.

[SPEAKER_08]: I am I am always hopeful that it's one of those things I guess if if you live in Southern California you always kind of anticipate and earthquake kind of like you know if you live in the Midwest you're always anticipating a tornado or weird weather you know if you live on the coast you're always a little bit thinking hey there could be you know well [SPEAKER_08]: big old storm, big old hurricane coming in anytime. [SPEAKER_08]: Okay, you know, you know, weirdness abounds.

[SPEAKER_08]: Everybody's got their own weirdness. [SPEAKER_08]: Some areas have fire. [SPEAKER_08]: Oh, God. [SPEAKER_08]: Have you seen the wildfires going on that West? [SPEAKER_08]: Uh, yeah. [SPEAKER_08]: Well, I mean, obviously, I'm not asking if you've seen them out your door because that would right now. [SPEAKER_08]: But there that is one of the stories that is in the news on tap today. [SPEAKER_08]: If you missed the news on tap, look, you can subscribe to that for free.

[SPEAKER_08]: That's the politics bar dot com in today's news on tap. [SPEAKER_08]: The Grand Canyon Dragon Bravo wildfire. [SPEAKER_08]: We're talking about this on and off. [SPEAKER_08]: It's been burning since July fourth. [SPEAKER_08]: It's over a month. [SPEAKER_03]: That's crazy. [SPEAKER_08]: Huge, massive fire. [SPEAKER_08]: We got some stories. [SPEAKER_08]: We got some clips as well in the news on tap that kind of shows all of that. [SPEAKER_08]: It is crazy, but it's not just here.

[SPEAKER_08]: France also battling the largest wildfire they've had in seventy five years. [SPEAKER_08]: That one just started Tuesday and it got that big over there. [SPEAKER_13]: I'm not surprised. [SPEAKER_08]: It's just crazy, but I'm going to it's it's [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah, the, the, the, the, well, meanwhile, meanwhile, J.D. [SPEAKER_08]: Vance decided that, uh, similar to, but different than how Donald Trump exploited the water issues in California earlier this year.

[SPEAKER_08]: Yeah, that's J.D. [SPEAKER_08]: Vance had, um, the Corps of Engineers, um, raised the level of the Ohio River for his family's boat trip supposedly to make it safer. [SPEAKER_13]: No, that was so that his little canoes, I guess he got fat. [SPEAKER_13]: People in his family are something, so it wouldn't scrape. [SPEAKER_13]: I don't know, but you don't do that for one family. [SPEAKER_13]: I'm sorry. [SPEAKER_13]: You just don't.

[SPEAKER_13]: If there's a problem in the river, that's one thing, but this is just for a family vacation. [SPEAKER_08]: Right, right. [SPEAKER_08]: This is, this is the kind of thing. [SPEAKER_08]: I mean, this is this is what JD Vance does. [SPEAKER_08]: I mean, you know, and this is what they, this is what all of the, the Trumpian idiots do. [SPEAKER_08]: They take things that are don't belong to them and then abuse them.

[SPEAKER_08]: This is what they've been doing with with, you know, the big story, one of the biggest stories is the redistricting war. [SPEAKER_08]: And I'm very glad the Democrats are still fighting fire with fire on this. [SPEAKER_08]: But [SPEAKER_08]: When we say that folks, we do not mean that it is okay to literally, you know, throw fire like bomb threats. [SPEAKER_08]: There was a bomb threats. [SPEAKER_08]: Chicago. [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_08]: We heard about a little less.

[SPEAKER_08]: Not I wanted to wait and see if they found out any more information. [SPEAKER_08]: So in case you missed it, there was a bomb threat yesterday at a Chicago hotel where some Texas Democrats were staying. [SPEAKER_08]: They may or may not have moved. [SPEAKER_08]: We don't know. [SPEAKER_08]: And you don't know either. [SPEAKER_08]: And that's kind of the point.

[SPEAKER_08]: But Senator John Corne has been throwing fire claiming now that the FBI is going to help locate these absent Texas Democrats. [SPEAKER_13]: Why they have broken zero laws. [SPEAKER_13]: It's not a federal issue. [SPEAKER_13]: You can cross state lines. [SPEAKER_13]: I still think still legally in this country without papers. [SPEAKER_08]: Yes. [SPEAKER_08]: We don't have that kind of a paper's please act unless well, maybe if you're, you know, an immigrant or something like that.

[SPEAKER_08]: But look, Pritzker, he was over with the modest touch folks. [SPEAKER_08]: Leave earlier today. [SPEAKER_08]: Well, he was talking about some of this here. [SPEAKER_08]: Let me get this up on the DVR here. [SPEAKER_00]: First of all, yes, it's true that John Kornin, who was running for reelection to the United States Senate in Texas, called up the president to get the FBI involved. [SPEAKER_00]: And then you've got ten packs in the AG of Texas.

[SPEAKER_00]: who is fighting to beat John Kornin and he says that Texas can't actually engage the federal government in this and he's right about that. [SPEAKER_00]: But he wants to send the Texas Rangers to Illinois instead of the FBI with, as you rightly point out, a civil warrant issued by the Texas House Representative Speaker.

[SPEAKER_00]: But, you know, the fact is that neither Texas nor the FBI at the federal level have the ability to arrest these Texas Democrats who are breaking quorum. [SPEAKER_00]: They just don't. [SPEAKER_00]: There is no legal precedent for that. [SPEAKER_00]: There's no law on the books that would allow them to do that. [SPEAKER_08]: There we go. [SPEAKER_08]: Thank you, JB Pritzker. [SPEAKER_08]: Thank you very much. [SPEAKER_08]: I like Pritzker.

[SPEAKER_08]: You know, honestly, if Pritzker is one of the candidates that's possibly running, coming up in twenty eight, I'd be fine with him. [SPEAKER_08]: He's good. [SPEAKER_13]: He's good. [SPEAKER_13]: The fact of the matter, though, is he's super, super wealthy, but he's acting more like an FDR than anybody else that's the problem. [SPEAKER_08]: Being rich is not the problem. [SPEAKER_08]: Being rich is there. [SPEAKER_08]: There are, you know, rich people.

[SPEAKER_08]: I've known rich people. [SPEAKER_08]: We being rich is not the problem. [SPEAKER_08]: The problem is the rich people for whom [SPEAKER_08]: They have a hole in their soul. [SPEAKER_08]: And there is no amount of money that will fill that hole. [SPEAKER_08]: And yet they are constantly more, more, more. [SPEAKER_13]: Yeah, if they didn't have money, we'd call them hoarders. [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah, exactly. [SPEAKER_08]: Oh my God, yeah, a hundred percent.

[SPEAKER_08]: So yeah, it is absolutely insane how many of those folks act. [SPEAKER_08]: But the biggest thing about all of this folks is exactly what Pritzker said. [SPEAKER_08]: I know there's a lot of fire being thrown, but the long and the short of it is, they can't do squat. [SPEAKER_08]: And if they do, people say, well, then what? [SPEAKER_08]: Well, then when things are a whole lot different, you know, you've got to remember, laws, they, how do I put this?

[SPEAKER_08]: They protect people on both sides of whatever it is. [SPEAKER_08]: And I hate, I hate both sides and things. [SPEAKER_13]: But no, that's what they're there for. [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah, well, look, if if if Republicans decide screw this, we're just going to start arresting people for no reason. [SPEAKER_08]: And yes, I realize they have done this to some degree with the immigration stuff.

[SPEAKER_08]: And then they overwhelmingly let those people go because they can't get away with it. [SPEAKER_08]: And especially if they start arresting, we're talking like arresting the Texas Democrats. [SPEAKER_13]: Right. [SPEAKER_13]: And if we're doing literally nothing illegal, they have done nothing illegal. [SPEAKER_08]: Especially with these redistricting wars, if they decide to go after the Texas Democrats and arrest them, then we're in a whole different area.

[SPEAKER_08]: And then I want to see Democrats in other states arresting Republicans for S and G's for no reason for S's and giggles. [SPEAKER_08]: You bet you. [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah, I think we go. [SPEAKER_08]: Well, it's fair for you. [SPEAKER_08]: It's fair for me. [SPEAKER_08]: You guys want to do it. [SPEAKER_08]: You want to bring it on. [SPEAKER_08]: Let's go. [SPEAKER_08]: They're just mad. [SPEAKER_13]: They're mad that the Democrats are finally fighting them based on their rules.

[SPEAKER_08]: Right. [SPEAKER_08]: Right. [SPEAKER_08]: Based on the rules that they have set down on the rules that Republicans have set down. [SPEAKER_08]: Democrats are finally saying, you know what, instead of playing by oils rules or whatever, you know, instead of playing by the rules the way they should be, we're actually playing the same way they are. [SPEAKER_08]: But unfortunately, you still get jackasses like this Derek van Orden from Wisconsin.

[SPEAKER_08]: who he's not even originally from Wisconsin. [SPEAKER_08]: If he's born in Minnesota, Jack asks, but he says, well, the Democrats are the ones who are really doing it. [SPEAKER_01]: Unless it's time for a reckoning, the Democrats are going to do this regardless. [SPEAKER_01]: And now they're they're griping because Republicans have caught on to their game. [SPEAKER_01]: wrong and it's tight as I said for a reckoning.

[SPEAKER_01]: We need to get this stuff established and laid out so that we can have the appropriate amount of representation for each party in Congress. [SPEAKER_01]: It's very simple actually. [SPEAKER_08]: He wants a proper, so what, wait a minute, I think I'm hearing him say that he wants proportional representation, which is one of those things that we've talked about before. [SPEAKER_08]: But if he want a proportional representation, OK, Jack, ask, let's look at this.

[SPEAKER_08]: If you look at just randomly, I'm going to pick one here. [SPEAKER_08]: Pew poll, twenty four, registered voters in the US, forty nine percent Democratic, forty eight percent Republican, three percent independent or other. [SPEAKER_12]: Right. [SPEAKER_08]: So you want that kind of fine. [SPEAKER_08]: Let's do proportional representation.

[SPEAKER_08]: Democrats then will control the House and we will have Speaker Jeffries or maybe we're going to go with a twenty twenty four Gallup poll. [SPEAKER_08]: That's that technically there was twenty eight percent Democrats twenty eight percent Republicans and forty three percent who are registered as independent. [SPEAKER_08]: I think there's one percent other. [SPEAKER_08]: I mean if we want to do proportional representation if this jackass wants to go with that.

[SPEAKER_08]: Like I've been saying, you feeling froggy boy? [SPEAKER_08]: Let's jump. [SPEAKER_08]: But I don't think that's what he really wants. [SPEAKER_08]: Because if he does, Republicans are going to lose. [SPEAKER_08]: Right. [SPEAKER_08]: That's what all this is about.

[SPEAKER_08]: When Republicans are forced to play fairly, to play by the same rules that everybody else does, they get their asses kicked and they get their asses kicked because overwhelmingly in poll after poll after poll, the actual policies, which is what the government is in large part about, [SPEAKER_08]: Americans prefer the policies of Democrats. [SPEAKER_08]: Do you remember last last fall when the presidential election was going on? [SPEAKER_08]: I cannot remember who it was.

[SPEAKER_08]: I tried to find it and I couldn't, but there was a poll where they did ten different policies didn't say whether it was Trump or Kamala Harris. [SPEAKER_08]: Right. [SPEAKER_08]: voters overwhelmingly, fifty percent or more picked the ten policies that were Harris's policies, not Trump's. [SPEAKER_08]: And this was Republicans Democrats and independence across the board. [SPEAKER_08]: They all Trump's policies. [SPEAKER_08]: None of them got more than about forty forty two percent.

[SPEAKER_08]: So, you know, it's not surprising. [SPEAKER_08]: If people want to do proportional with it, you know, let's do proportional. [SPEAKER_08]: Okay, let's go. [SPEAKER_08]: But Republicans are going to lose every time. [SPEAKER_08]: And that is why they are fighting so desperately hard right now. [SPEAKER_08]: There's a good piece in here from Lisa Needham today, over at public notice. [SPEAKER_08]: That is Aaron Rupert's piece. [SPEAKER_08]: And it's great.

[SPEAKER_08]: It basically says, look, the Republicans are doing their jerrymandering frenzy, this redistricting war. [SPEAKER_08]: It's a huge sign of how weak they are and how afraid they are. [SPEAKER_08]: They're doing this in Texas. [SPEAKER_08]: Who was it? [SPEAKER_08]: They're earlier this week that said that here. [SPEAKER_08]: God, I'm trying to remember. [SPEAKER_08]: Was that cliff? [SPEAKER_08]: Was that the last week? [SPEAKER_08]: I mean, those last week.

[SPEAKER_08]: I can't, but look, we had somebody in here was mentioning this earlier and said the reason they're doing this now in Texas is because they are terrified. [SPEAKER_08]: They're going to get their asses. [SPEAKER_13]: And that that boads well for us having a real. [SPEAKER_13]: Lichita mid election next year. [SPEAKER_08]: It does. [SPEAKER_08]: It also keeps voting well.

[SPEAKER_08]: I think God, who did I hear was somebody on Steph showed today who was talking about and saying, Hey, I think it was Carl Frish, who said the other good sign is that they keep talking about elections. [SPEAKER_08]: So it actually sounds like they want to have elections. [SPEAKER_13]: Because if they if they weren't worried, they wouldn't be doing this. [SPEAKER_08]: right, because they know when the playing field is fair, we will kick their ass.

[SPEAKER_13]: Hi, welcome to California fair maps. [SPEAKER_13]: And yes, what? [SPEAKER_08]: Once again, Jodie is right. [SPEAKER_13]: We have fair maps and because we have fair maps, we have a predominantly democratically run in state. [SPEAKER_08]: make sense to me. [SPEAKER_08]: Love it of it. [SPEAKER_08]: Oh, look, we've got more news on tap. [SPEAKER_08]: We've got the drink of the day. [SPEAKER_08]: John Fugo saying we'll be joining us from the West Coast in the bar tonight.

[SPEAKER_08]: Very cool. [SPEAKER_08]: Look, get yourself a fresh and drink. [SPEAKER_08]: Come on back for another round. [SPEAKER_08]: It's Thursday night with Jody and Sean and you. [SPEAKER_08]: Here at the politics bar. [SPEAKER_11]: We'll be right back after we'd pay some bills at the politics bar. [SPEAKER_08]: It is a Tuesday night here at the politics bar. [SPEAKER_08]: No wait. [SPEAKER_13]: It's Thursday night at Thursday Tuesdays when I'm also with Bob and David.

[SPEAKER_08]: Yeah, I forget that. [SPEAKER_08]: You know, I know you go and you hang out with Bob and I don't get to listen to the podcast until later because, you know, I'm getting ready here. [SPEAKER_08]: You got ready before. [SPEAKER_08]: Then you go to the podcast and then you come to the bar. [SPEAKER_08]: It's a complicated schedule folks. [SPEAKER_08]: Look, you can listen to us whenever you happen to be available.

[SPEAKER_08]: Just get on your favorite podcast player and type in the politics bar or you can listen at the politics bar dot com. [SPEAKER_08]: We got that podcast there at free. [SPEAKER_08]: Six dollars a month is that cover charge. [SPEAKER_08]: Politics bar dot com. [SPEAKER_08]: All right, Jody. [SPEAKER_08]: Um, I hate to say this because you know I love tacos.

[SPEAKER_08]: But there are no more tacos Donald Trump has decided to let those really ugly stupid tariffs snap into effect raising the US import taxes to their highest level since the Great Depression. [SPEAKER_13]: But what's funny is to remember the last time he let them go into effect in April. [SPEAKER_13]: It only took a weekend for him to pull it back. [SPEAKER_08]: Well, right, and he may or may not. [SPEAKER_08]: God knows. [SPEAKER_08]: I mean, you know, he does do that.

[SPEAKER_08]: He jerks himself around all the, and I don't. [SPEAKER_13]: He does it because he's manipulating the stock market. [SPEAKER_13]: That's exactly what he's doing. [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_08]: I, I don't disagree. [SPEAKER_08]: I know that Bob has said that. [SPEAKER_08]: I know others have said that. [SPEAKER_08]: I, but I look at it in just it is extremely frustrating. [SPEAKER_08]: Oh, yeah.

[SPEAKER_08]: And the worst, the worst part about it is as far as for me is when you look at the actual economy, the way that the economy is, well, [SPEAKER_08]: John Burman did a really good piece. [SPEAKER_08]: I know I'm not usually a fan of the feces flinging fest on CNN, but I caught this and this is on the DVR from last night. [SPEAKER_08]: So first you'll hear Trump lying about all the prices of things. [SPEAKER_08]: And then Burman does a very, very nice fact check on this.

[SPEAKER_08]: Check this out. [SPEAKER_05]: gasoline down it's gonna soon I believe be less than two hours a gallon the price of groceries are down will exit down everything down right just down the only thing that's up is stock prices the watches group of people on on CNN and MS DNC to the same where they say well costs have gone up close African up they've gone down no [SPEAKER_05]: No. [SPEAKER_06]: Oh, a quick reality check before we discuss average.

[SPEAKER_06]: Ask prices while they are down. [SPEAKER_06]: No, we're near below two dollars. [SPEAKER_06]: In fact, the lowest average in Mississippi is above two, seventy for made a June from his government statistics. [SPEAKER_06]: The price of groceries are up. [SPEAKER_06]: that includes coffee, steak, chicken, apples and oranges, also more expensive, clothing, furniture, electronics and toys.

[SPEAKER_06]: There are prices that are lower or steadier, dairy, cereal, new cars, airfare and lodging, because eggs always seem to be a political, football, prices are at their lowest since November, however, they're higher than they were a year ago. [SPEAKER_06]: Well, five. [SPEAKER_06]: I was president from March of twenty twenty three to August of last year. [SPEAKER_06]: No, for all items in June compared to the same month.

[SPEAKER_06]: The year ago have increased to point seven percent food prices specifically are up. [SPEAKER_06]: Three percent. [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_08]: So Trump's claim that all these prices are down. [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_08]: He's he's full of crap. [SPEAKER_08]: He's full of crap. [SPEAKER_08]: And we all know it. [SPEAKER_08]: We all know it. [SPEAKER_08]: It look whether he wants to try to mess around with the data or not.

[SPEAKER_08]: You and I, and everybody here in the bar, we all know what things cost. [SPEAKER_08]: We go to the stores ourselves. [SPEAKER_08]: We see what's coming into the bank count and what's not. [SPEAKER_08]: We know these things. [SPEAKER_08]: And yeah, so we all know, and here's the thing that here's here's some of the things at the same time that they're they're setting fires that we see. [SPEAKER_08]: They're setting fires that people aren't going to see like this one.

[SPEAKER_08]: Trump signing new executive order that will allow volatile assets like crypto and private equity into your four or one case. [SPEAKER_08]: For one case, we're supposed to be stable. [SPEAKER_08]: So that you can retire on it. [SPEAKER_08]: And now they're going to let crypto in there, which is just stupid. [SPEAKER_08]: And of course, as we've been mentioning, as our friend Charles Gaba has been saying for months and months now, the ACA premiums are going to go up.

[SPEAKER_08]: KFF did a whole thing. [SPEAKER_08]: Media increase of eighteen percent. [SPEAKER_13]: I can't afford that. [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah, neither can many. [SPEAKER_08]: That's that. [SPEAKER_08]: And you can thank your local Republican member of Congress who voted for that big ugly bill. [SPEAKER_08]: Of course, the best way that you can thank them vote for a Democrat and get rid of the Republicans in Congress. [SPEAKER_13]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_08]: All of them. [SPEAKER_08]: Weip them out.

[SPEAKER_08]: Finished them. [SPEAKER_08]: I'm fine with that. [SPEAKER_08]: Look, get rid of them. [SPEAKER_08]: Get them out of there. [SPEAKER_08]: Because I just, you know, uh, yeah, they have screwed things up so damn badly. [SPEAKER_08]: And meanwhile Donald Trump still dottering around still.

[SPEAKER_08]: he's been doing a lot of this lately where he's threatening to crack down in DC I guess big balls got himself a mess and I hope he's going to be okay you know you don't nobody wants to go through anything like that that's not saying that he I'm not saying that he deserved to get a punch in the face but I'm also not not saying well I mean it wasn't about his politics they were going to carjack himself [SPEAKER_08]: Right, right, exactly.

[SPEAKER_08]: Which is that's, and they, I guess they caught the teenagers that we're doing. [SPEAKER_08]: They were, but Trump has been bellowing these threats like an old man yelling at clouds. [SPEAKER_08]: But I want to take over D.C. [SPEAKER_08]: They are actually rules about what he can and cannot do. [SPEAKER_08]: We happen to have those in the news on tap today. [SPEAKER_08]: So if you are really worried that he's going to take over D.C. [SPEAKER_08]: He really can't.

[SPEAKER_08]: Right. [SPEAKER_08]: Unless he wants to actually send in the troops and then remember each individual soldier happens to have their own will. [SPEAKER_08]: And if they know it's wrong, and they know there is a statute of limitations on these things, many of them will refuse. [SPEAKER_08]: So folks, I get it.

[SPEAKER_08]: It's really easy to be really afraid, but part of us standing up to them is having the courage and having the facts and knowing the facts and saying, [SPEAKER_08]: Kind of like, you know, you did in the LA area of the bar. [SPEAKER_08]: You folks out there handle that pretty good. [SPEAKER_08]: They've been pulling all the soldiers and the National Guards people out. [SPEAKER_08]: Mayor Karen Bass has been pretty strong. [SPEAKER_13]: Amazing.

[SPEAKER_08]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_08]: She really does. [SPEAKER_08]: When when we get scared about these things, it doesn't mean having courage doesn't mean that you're not scared. [SPEAKER_08]: It doesn't. [SPEAKER_08]: It doesn't mean that [SPEAKER_08]: There are some people who say that I'm polyanish, which I'm not. [SPEAKER_08]: God, I know that because I know some people who are about, you know, everything that's going on here.

[SPEAKER_08]: But I do try to focus on the positive in part because it is the default of so many of the people who are on the left who come and join us here at the politics bar to, it's, it's the default of the left that the fault is, is E. Or. [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_08]: Oh, that sucks. [SPEAKER_08]: Everything's normal. [SPEAKER_08]: We're not gonna die.

[SPEAKER_08]: first of all that drives me nuts drives me up a wall makes me makes me want to throw things and I then I have to clean it up here and I don't want to do that so but not only that the fact is if you think they're all kinds of great biographies they're all kinds of great documentaries of people who've been through scary things wars the holocaust car jackings like we mentioned you know big balls was whatever

[SPEAKER_08]: People who are terrified, and yet they do the right thing anyway. [SPEAKER_08]: And that's really what courage is. [SPEAKER_08]: It doesn't mean that you're not terrified. [SPEAKER_08]: It doesn't mean you're not scared. [SPEAKER_08]: It doesn't mean you're not worried. [SPEAKER_08]: It doesn't mean you don't prepare. [SPEAKER_08]: But it also means that you don't let it take over every single moment of your life. [SPEAKER_08]: Exactly.

[SPEAKER_08]: And it doesn't mean that you don't stand proud that you don't help other people keep motivated, keep focusing on the positive, serious to God. [SPEAKER_08]: Look, look at that. [SPEAKER_08]: If you have, if you are a black American with a long family history in this country, [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah, no, no, I'm saying about this already because what is it? [SPEAKER_08]: It's Stefan Chris joke in the mornings. [SPEAKER_08]: They say that black women are early warning system.

[SPEAKER_13]: They are the early warning systems. [SPEAKER_08]: They are, but they also happen to be, I think, our true collective wisdom. [SPEAKER_08]: Black women, Hispanic women, Asian women in general, but especially women of color. [SPEAKER_02]: Absolutely. [SPEAKER_08]: To be because, and especially if there are families that have been here in the United States for a long time, because y'all know what I'm talking about.

[SPEAKER_08]: At some of the best gospel songs came from the people who went through hell as slaves and yet they are some of them. [SPEAKER_08]: It's some of the most joyous music because they knew how to keep joy. [SPEAKER_08]: They knew how to keep a positive attitude because they knew you can't let the bastards beat you before they beat you.

[SPEAKER_08]: And I think a lot of times it's like I said I'm not I'm not I'm not being polyanish I'm saying be aware God we put the work that we put into the news on tap the work that we put into gathering the facts and the clips and the all that for you guys it's a lot of work. [SPEAKER_08]: But it's worth it so that you guys have the facts that you're armed, but then don't get depressed about it. [SPEAKER_08]: Just be, all right. [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_08]: And does it make sense?

[SPEAKER_13]: It makes sense. [SPEAKER_13]: And that's why not only do we just, we don't just talk about politics. [SPEAKER_13]: We talk about sports. [SPEAKER_13]: We talk about entertainment. [SPEAKER_13]: We try to not just give you doom and gloom. [SPEAKER_13]: And then there's, you know, sometimes nice reporting about how Donald Trump is underwater in the whole year. [SPEAKER_08]: Last minute. [SPEAKER_08]: There was something I stuck in last minute. [SPEAKER_08]: I didn't send it to you.

[SPEAKER_08]: We said a final document were like, oh, we agree. [SPEAKER_08]: And sometimes, you know, new news pops up or whatever. [SPEAKER_08]: And this is a story I'd seen earlier, but I didn't know if we'd have room, but I got to stick it in. [SPEAKER_08]: The first female umpire is going to be called up for a regular season major league baseball this weekend. [SPEAKER_08]: CBS and a little bit on it. [SPEAKER_08]: I got the the clip I put that on the news on tap today.

[SPEAKER_08]: Like I said, women are freaking important. [SPEAKER_08]: Women are, I love women and not just because I love women, but I love women because they're strong, they're great. [SPEAKER_08]: And I'm loving to see that [SPEAKER_08]: Who says that a woman on fire? [SPEAKER_08]: In fact, I bet the woman on fire. [SPEAKER_08]: I bet there are multiple women on purpose, but I bet this particular one. [SPEAKER_08]: I think she's going to be great. [SPEAKER_08]: But I bet she already is great.

[SPEAKER_08]: I, you know, Jen Paul is her NPAWOL. [SPEAKER_08]: And she's been doing minor league stuff. [SPEAKER_08]: Um, you know, I, I didn't, I didn't really, you know, I didn't really keep a good eye on her, but from, you know, looking at it, you know, what she said and I looked at, you know, went to see if there was some comments or whatever. [SPEAKER_08]: First of all, there didn't seem to be a whole lot of negative comments about her. [SPEAKER_08]: That's good.

[SPEAKER_13]: Which is rare with an empire. [SPEAKER_08]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_08]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_08]: People will get up by, you know, there's a lot of people that will call out and look, I'm glad that they do call out bad on buyers, but I believe that she is more accurate. [SPEAKER_08]: And I bet she's freaking fantastic. [SPEAKER_08]: And you know, that is something that we should celebrate because what the hell, man?

[SPEAKER_08]: You know, I mean, look, you, especially guys who are here at the bar, you look, you can look at me. [SPEAKER_08]: You know this, you've been judged by women already. [SPEAKER_08]: There's no reason that this woman cannot accurately judge baseball. [SPEAKER_08]: I'm just saying she's got good eyesight. [SPEAKER_13]: That's all she needs really understands the rules of the game. [SPEAKER_13]: Those are the two things.

[SPEAKER_13]: Understand the rules of the game and have good eyesight. [SPEAKER_08]: That's all you need. [SPEAKER_08]: That's why I'm like, you know, great. [SPEAKER_08]: Let's let's get women, um, let's get trans, um, let's get anybody because we have a lot of um, who suck. [SPEAKER_08]: So let's get better, um, in there. [SPEAKER_08]: And that's, that's, you know, that is something to be celebrated. [SPEAKER_08]: That kind of thing.

[SPEAKER_08]: That's, you know, that's [SPEAKER_08]: That's good and positive news. [SPEAKER_08]: Something else positive baseball related since we're talking about this. [SPEAKER_08]: I caught like three innings of the game. [SPEAKER_08]: I caught the last three innings of the game. [SPEAKER_08]: The Amazon DDR, whatever, but because I wanted to see it, your favorite baseball team obviously Dodgers. [SPEAKER_13]: Yes. [SPEAKER_08]: Okay. [SPEAKER_08]: I knew I back in the day worked with him.

[SPEAKER_08]: Then he went to work with him Milwaukee Brewers. [SPEAKER_08]: Last time I checked he left him gone and do something else. [SPEAKER_08]: But the Brewers, their fans are fun in general. [SPEAKER_08]: You know, fun team. [SPEAKER_08]: Nobody expects a whole lot of them though. [SPEAKER_08]: They are the first major league baseball team to reach seventy wins during this season. [SPEAKER_08]: None of the sports. [SPEAKER_08]: Wow. [SPEAKER_08]: None of the better.

[SPEAKER_08]: Yeah, nobody thought everybody's like, who the hell? [SPEAKER_08]: And they don't, they don't have any big names. [SPEAKER_08]: They don't have, you know, you're, you're, yeah, they're just, they're just a bunch of guys getting out there playing play and ball. [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah, having fun, which it's like, that's, that's the kind of thing where you're like, there's not a whole lot more American than that. [SPEAKER_08]: Pretty geeked up about that.

[SPEAKER_08]: Yes, we do have the fun news. [SPEAKER_08]: We have other news as well. [SPEAKER_08]: Just because, you know, it's a politics bar and we talk about news and politics. [SPEAKER_08]: Something is fun for us and not fun for Trump. [SPEAKER_08]: The Trump Epstein scandal not going away. [SPEAKER_08]: So this happened earlier today, I believe, while you were recording the podcast with Bob and David came out.

[SPEAKER_08]: So last night, I think we caught it in play because it's annoying, but Trump and Vance yesterday did this thing. [SPEAKER_08]: There's nobody there. [SPEAKER_08]: It was nothing to see here with the, so there was the comment. [SPEAKER_08]: We had the story yesterday in the news on tap that [SPEAKER_08]: There was supposed to be a meeting last night between Jayden and they were going to cancel it, but they sort of had it. [SPEAKER_08]: Right.

[SPEAKER_08]: It actually ended up not only did they have it, they had it at the White House, which has the highest level of security. [SPEAKER_08]: And of course, you can shut out the media. [SPEAKER_12]: Oh, yeah. [SPEAKER_08]: That's exactly what they did. [SPEAKER_08]: They shot out the media. [SPEAKER_08]: They had it. [SPEAKER_08]: Nobody's even written up this story. [SPEAKER_08]: But that if that popped a mid-late afternoon, where I believe was NBC, I think, had it first said, oh, yeah.

[SPEAKER_08]: By the way, they actually kind of had the meeting anyway. [SPEAKER_13]: Well, because they need to, they need to do some PR. [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah, they need to get their stories straight. [SPEAKER_13]: Yeah, they need to get their story straight. [SPEAKER_13]: They need, they need an Olivia Pope to help with this.

[SPEAKER_08]: I'm sorry, it is it is all a bunch of horse garbage, but as far as I'm concerned, because we all know, look, if they actually Steve Bennett had a good piece over at MSNBC, and we stuck that in the news on Tap today, very clearly. [SPEAKER_08]: Republicans do not want Alex Acosta, the prosecutor who made Epstein's sweetheart deal. [SPEAKER_08]: They don't want him to testify.

[SPEAKER_08]: If they wanted the truth, you've said before, if they wanted the truth, they would bring forward the victims. [SPEAKER_13]: And the victims and there are several that are willing to testify. [SPEAKER_08]: And if they one of the truth, they went out of Alex Acosta and the victims, and they would have them tested for them. [SPEAKER_08]: Oh, and they would have them tested for them. [SPEAKER_08]: Oh, and they would have them tested for them.

[SPEAKER_08]: Oh, and they would have them tested for them. [SPEAKER_08]: Oh, and they would have them tested for me. [SPEAKER_08]: Oh, and they would have them tested for me. [SPEAKER_08]: Oh, and they would have them tested for me. [SPEAKER_08]: Oh, and they would have them tested for me.

[SPEAKER_08]: Oh, and they would have them tested for me. [SPEAKER_08]: Oh, and they would have them tested for me. [SPEAKER_08]: Oh, and they would have them tested for [SPEAKER_08]: It is a Thursday night.

[SPEAKER_08]: Yeah, I got it wrong. [SPEAKER_08]: I was looking in the next week. [SPEAKER_08]: I was looking at guests. [SPEAKER_08]: Shut up. [SPEAKER_08]: Fine. [SPEAKER_13]: No, I have a calendar right up in front of me. [SPEAKER_08]: No, I did it too. [SPEAKER_08]: I did the idea. [SPEAKER_08]: You know, you love lamp. [SPEAKER_08]: I read off the teleprompter thing. [SPEAKER_08]: I apologize. [SPEAKER_08]: But look, it is a Thursday night. [SPEAKER_08]: We've got a great drink of the day.

[SPEAKER_08]: Good story that goes along with that. [SPEAKER_13]: And it's a very complicated one. [SPEAKER_13]: It's not as simple as the vodka martini the other day. [SPEAKER_08]: You want to take some time and actually do that today? [SPEAKER_08]: We'll do that next. [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah, let's do that. [SPEAKER_08]: We'll try and give it a coming up here at the politics bar. [SPEAKER_11]: We'll be right back after we pay some bills at the politics bar.

[SPEAKER_08]: Thursday nights, here at the politics bar, I got it right this time. [SPEAKER_08]: I looked at the right day. [SPEAKER_08]: Yay. [SPEAKER_08]: Thank you. [SPEAKER_08]: Thank you. [SPEAKER_08]: I can read hopefully you can too. [SPEAKER_08]: You can follow along with us. [SPEAKER_08]: Look if you miss any of the show or you miss the drink of the day. [SPEAKER_08]: Look, you should just be subscribed.

[SPEAKER_08]: You go to the politics bar dot com six dollars a month gets you the podcast ad free and gets you those drink of the day recipes. [SPEAKER_08]: You can kind of have them then you look really cool when you have a party to your house because you know what you're doing. [SPEAKER_08]: We've got kudos this week on our sub stack for giving out the recipes you can get them to just subscribe at the politics bar dot com.

[SPEAKER_08]: All right, Johnny, we talked about this one a little bit complicated. [SPEAKER_08]: Very complicated. [SPEAKER_13]: Sorry kids. [SPEAKER_13]: No, it's not technically complicated. [SPEAKER_13]: If it is sort of complicated. [SPEAKER_08]: It's a little bit complicated. [SPEAKER_08]: And it's, well, tell them what the drink of the day is, Jodie. [SPEAKER_13]: It's called a Ramos Jinfiz. [SPEAKER_13]: I assume that's how we pronounce his last name.

[SPEAKER_08]: I believe Henry Charles Ramos, who invented the drink, uh, I don't know. [SPEAKER_08]: He started at the Imperial Cabinet bar in New Orleans, eighteen eighty seven. [SPEAKER_08]: Now, you bartenders, not exactly, uh, infamous or famous people per se. [SPEAKER_08]: Usually, if a drink is made about, if a drink is named after bartender, it doesn't usually get named after them until they're dead. [SPEAKER_08]: Usually, yes.

[SPEAKER_08]: Okay. [SPEAKER_08]: Well, this particular gentleman happens to have a drink named after him, and it was named after him while he was alive. [SPEAKER_08]: Jinfus is a popular, but this is a very specific specific type of line. [SPEAKER_08]: It's almost like it. [SPEAKER_08]: It's almost like an egg cream. [SPEAKER_13]: Yes, I believe I agree. [SPEAKER_13]: I have to make it one of these days. [SPEAKER_13]: And like a citrusy. [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah, I love.

[SPEAKER_08]: I didn't really get into egg creams at all until I moved to South Florida. [SPEAKER_08]: And then there's this place called two days freaking fantastic. [SPEAKER_08]: I love two jays. [SPEAKER_08]: If you listening, you like two jays, you can message us. [SPEAKER_08]: Just follow us at the politics bar and universal media. [SPEAKER_08]: But look, I love two jays. [SPEAKER_08]: I love egg creams. [SPEAKER_08]: And this, this particular Romo's chin for it.

[SPEAKER_08]: Jinfiz is a [SPEAKER_08]: It's kind of like that. [SPEAKER_08]: It is. [SPEAKER_13]: Okay. [SPEAKER_13]: It's going to take me an hour. [SPEAKER_13]: Okay. [SPEAKER_13]: So. [SPEAKER_08]: Okay. [SPEAKER_13]: You need a chilled Collins glass. [SPEAKER_13]: You need two shakers for this because there's a specific reason for it. [SPEAKER_13]: You need some ice. [SPEAKER_11]: Okay. [SPEAKER_13]: Two ounces of gin.

[SPEAKER_13]: a half ounce of lemon juice freshly squeezed half ounce of lime juice freshly squeezed three quarters of an ounce of simple syrup one twenty fourth of an ounce of orange blossom or orange flower water three drops like a hint like a hint of the exactly a three drops of vanilla extract and that's optional I would do it just because it's a good flavor right three quarter ounce of an egg egg white so basically you make your egg whites and measure it to three quarters of an ounce

[SPEAKER_09]: Okay. [SPEAKER_13]: Three quarters of the ounce of single, uh, excuse me, three quarters of single cream, single cream or half and half, depending on how thick. [SPEAKER_08]: You can use cream or you can use half and half, I think. [SPEAKER_13]: I think the cream would be slightly sweeter and the half and half would be slightly less sweet. [SPEAKER_08]: Just what I was thinking.

[SPEAKER_13]: Okay. [SPEAKER_13]: And then you top it off with the suggestion is Thomas Henry soda water, but any kind of soda water doesn't matter. [SPEAKER_13]: And then a quarter orange wheel for garnish. [SPEAKER_13]: And you can add an option of mint sprig with the orange peel the orange wheel. [SPEAKER_08]: What do you want for the flavor? [SPEAKER_13]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_13]: So okay. [SPEAKER_13]: So step one.

[SPEAKER_13]: You take the first eight ingredients, and I will go through them again. [SPEAKER_13]: The gym, the lemon juice, the lime juice, the simple syrup, the orange blossom water, the vanilla extract, egg white, and a half and half. [SPEAKER_13]: Put that into a shaker with ice, and you shake it up, right? [SPEAKER_13]: So this is where the second shaker comes in. [SPEAKER_13]: Now there's other ways to do this, but this is where the second shaker comes in.

[SPEAKER_13]: You strain the chilled iced ingredients into a shaker that has no ice. [SPEAKER_13]: Okay. [SPEAKER_11]: All right. [SPEAKER_11]: Got it. [SPEAKER_13]: And then you dry shake that, which means it emulsifies everything. [SPEAKER_13]: I think what happens is the cream and the egg whites start to foam up a little. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_03]: Okay. [SPEAKER_13]: Okay. [SPEAKER_13]: Then, okay.

[SPEAKER_13]: This is something that if we were on video would be easier for me to show you slowly pour two thirds of the shakers contents. [SPEAKER_13]: from a higher than normal height. [SPEAKER_13]: So you guys have all seen on in movies where the bartender kind of just lifts his or her arm up when they're pouring a drink. [SPEAKER_13]: It's it's high, you know, it's at least you're doing it so you can get that extra froth. [SPEAKER_13]: Yes, and you pour that.

[SPEAKER_13]: While simultaneously pouring the soda, so you're it's two handed kids. [SPEAKER_13]: So got it. [SPEAKER_13]: So they both kind of do it.

[SPEAKER_13]: Yeah, if you don't have good coordination, find somebody who does or like when I was taking my bartender's test and I had gotten bitten by a dog and had to get a tetanus shot in one arm and my other arm had the bite in it and [SPEAKER_13]: I think I got something, so many things happened, and so I'm hobbling in, and my teacher spider was his name, is his name. [SPEAKER_13]: And he said, what's wrong? [SPEAKER_13]: And I said, I told him, because, oh my God, can you do anything?

[SPEAKER_13]: Because I had an antibiotic shot and one butt cheek, and I mean, I was just all messed up. [SPEAKER_13]: And so he let me do my test with just one hand. [SPEAKER_08]: Oh wow. [SPEAKER_08]: He did it one at a time. [SPEAKER_13]: because there are some drinks where you have to do it to it at a time. [SPEAKER_13]: And so he let me do it one handed and he gave me an extra three minutes or something.

[SPEAKER_08]: So you could, you could do one handed if you wanted to, if you didn't necessarily want to. [SPEAKER_13]: But if you want to see the whole point of doing it with the other hand is so that they come up simultaneously. [SPEAKER_08]: At the exact same time. [SPEAKER_13]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_13]: And so as your, as when the description is as when pouring again is to achieve the perfect head on the remostion phase, leave it to settle for at least a minute [SPEAKER_08]: Right.

[SPEAKER_08]: The idea is you want the foam, you want it to get a little bit of a head, you want it to settle a little bit. [SPEAKER_08]: Maybe you can put it in your fridge for a moment or two or whatever. [SPEAKER_13]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_13]: And then so the final thing is you take the last third of what was in the shaker, the last of the mix and pour the rest of it in and then the head should kind of come up like a little souffle. [SPEAKER_08]: Right. [SPEAKER_08]: That works great.

[SPEAKER_13]: And then you garnish with your quarter orange wheel and and or your mint, right? [SPEAKER_13]: And or your mint and enjoy all that because you're going to you're going to be tired after you make that. [SPEAKER_08]: So that is that's the kind of fancy drink that you know, it helps to actually have the recipes for these kinds. [SPEAKER_13]: Oh, yeah. [SPEAKER_13]: I mean, not kind of you have a dream. [SPEAKER_13]: You want to get that at a bar.

[SPEAKER_13]: You bring them the recipe. [SPEAKER_08]: Well, and that is a nice thing. [SPEAKER_08]: If you're subscribed at the politics bar.com, you can take your drink of the day recipes and you can hand the bartender your phone and be like, look, can you do this? [SPEAKER_08]: Chances are if they're a good bartender, they can. [SPEAKER_08]: But it's just nice to be able to say, look, can you do this? [SPEAKER_08]: I would like one of these. [SPEAKER_08]: And there you go.

[SPEAKER_08]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_08]: Very simple. [SPEAKER_08]: Lots of reasons to subscribe at the politics bar. [SPEAKER_08]: Alrighty, so more of the news on tap today, the wars of the rights are not going away. [SPEAKER_08]: Trump today did something unusually stupid, which for him is difficult because- It's usually stupid. [SPEAKER_08]: What's again, Jodie is right.

[SPEAKER_08]: Yeah, so what he did today is, and this ties in immigration, this also ties into the redistricting wars a little bit. [SPEAKER_08]: He said that he is trying to push the commerce department to order a new sense, a new census. [SPEAKER_08]: That first of all, [SPEAKER_08]: for those of you who are worried about this, Jack asked cannot order a new census whenever he wants. [SPEAKER_08]: Constitution mandates that a census is once every ten years.

[SPEAKER_08]: Second of all, they are already now getting ready for the twenty-thirty census. [SPEAKER_08]: It takes them roughly about six, seven years these days because a census is huge. [SPEAKER_08]: It's huge. [SPEAKER_08]: You were supposed to conduct the census within the year [SPEAKER_08]: So, three hundred and roughly fifty million people they have to count. [SPEAKER_13]: Here's the other thing.

[SPEAKER_13]: But they don't want to count people that are here without documentation, which is against the law. [SPEAKER_08]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_08]: The Constitution says the whole, it says, quote, whole number of persons in each state. [SPEAKER_08]: And quote, that is what the US Constitution says. [SPEAKER_08]: That means the whole number. [SPEAKER_08]: That means everybody in the state must be counted.

[SPEAKER_08]: That includes both documented people, people who are born here and have birth certificates and undocumented people because the numbers that they use from the census they use for all kinds of things, including

[SPEAKER_08]: If you're, if you're somebody who, you know, you're big into deportation and things like that, the money that they a lot for certain departments in order to handle illegal immigration, the only way they know how to get the correct numbers is because of the census. [SPEAKER_08]: Right. [SPEAKER_08]: So you can't just say, well, we're not doing what I'm going to do a census whenever I want, because Trump wants him to do a census, not count undocumented immigrants.

[SPEAKER_08]: And then try to sway the numbers to basically do the same thing that they're trying to do with the redistricting wars, which is sway the house. [SPEAKER_13]: Well, and remember last time he tried to have a citizenship question. [SPEAKER_08]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_08]: And not only did lower courts, this Supreme Court kind of kicked it out on a technicality, but lots of multiple lower courts said, no, no, no. [SPEAKER_08]: Because it's in the Constitution, you can't do it.

[SPEAKER_08]: And here's the thing, even if Trump wanted to, and he says, well, by God, I'm going to order the commerce secretary who's a complete jerk. [SPEAKER_08]: I'm going to order the commerce secretary to do this. [SPEAKER_08]: The people actually have to do with themselves. [SPEAKER_08]: They actually have to go about the process of doing these kinds of things. [SPEAKER_08]: Look, I understand. [SPEAKER_08]: It has to deal with immigration.

[SPEAKER_08]: And Louis, we had a call on the bar. [SPEAKER_08]: By the way, you can call us on the bar phone anytime you want to.

[SPEAKER_08]: One, three, six, seven, seven, seven, seven, seven, seven, seven, seven, seven, seven, seven, seven, seven, seven, seven, seven, seven, seven, seven, seven, seven, seven, seven, seven, seven, seven, seven, seven, seven, seven, seven, seven, seven, seven, seven, seven, seven, seven, seven, seven, seven, seven, seven, seven, seven, seven, seven, seven, seven, seven, seven, seven, seven, seven, seven, seven, seven, seven, seven, seven, seven, seven, seven, seven, seven, seven, seven, seven, seven, seven, seven, seven, seven, seven, seven, seven, seven,

[SPEAKER_08]: We had a call yesterday here on the on the voicemail. [SPEAKER_08]: Let me play this from the voicemail. [SPEAKER_08]: I've got this for you, Joe. [SPEAKER_08]: Here it is. [SPEAKER_07]: It's Palm Fiel. [SPEAKER_07]: You know, I'm listening to all the issue about Texas and Jeremy and ring. [SPEAKER_07]: One thing I think about so is California. [SPEAKER_07]: You can't have the Olympics in California in twenty twenty eight. [SPEAKER_07]: So he lives in California.

[SPEAKER_07]: You've got to get hold of your US representatives here. [SPEAKER_07]: Representative in Congress and your senator and and also your state representatives and tell them to urge Governor Newsom or whoever the governor is at the time. [SPEAKER_07]: We know what Donald Trump is going to do to try and make a huge train wreck of the Olympics in twenty twenty eight and also who bears California and all the blues in California.

[SPEAKER_07]: He was with hold back in federal funding and time for the [SPEAKER_07]: to build a facility to make a giant absolute mess dumpster fire out of it and then point your point and figure out and say look what they can't do anything don't even give them a chance just you've got to stop it and it would be no different than selling the IOC the Olympic International Olympic Committee that we have in the earthquake we can't do it sorry and the whole world knows why [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah.

[SPEAKER_08]: Look, Paul, Paul is is Paul is right. [SPEAKER_13]: But didn't Donald just make himself the head of the Olympics? [SPEAKER_08]: He did. [SPEAKER_08]: We had that story in yesterday's news on tap. [SPEAKER_08]: Trump just made himself the head of the Olympic twenty twenty. [SPEAKER_08]: I don't know what's going to happen. [SPEAKER_08]: Twenty twenty. [SPEAKER_08]: God, I don't even know what's going to happen next year. [SPEAKER_08]: Right.

[SPEAKER_13]: With the congrats World Cup, too, is coming. [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah, exactly. [SPEAKER_08]: And there are people who have said, look, that they know some folks dealing with World Cup stuff who have made some backup preparations to move games, all the games into Canada and Mexico if they need to, and I would not be surprised if they haven't made those. [SPEAKER_08]: We don't know what's going to go on with that stuff.

[SPEAKER_08]: That said, Paul is right in calling and saying that you need to constantly call your representatives and your senators, even if they're Republicans and be like, look, enough of this, especially if you want to have at the Olympics. [SPEAKER_08]: You want to have, I mean, the Olympics is the platform where the world looks at us. [SPEAKER_08]: They get to see what we are. [SPEAKER_08]: And you want to have a decent showing.

[SPEAKER_08]: You don't want to embarrass the whole damn country. [SPEAKER_08]: You really should, you know, be saying, hey, look, let's prepare properly. [SPEAKER_08]: Let's act properly. [SPEAKER_08]: Let's do the right things. [SPEAKER_08]: So I'm with Paul and saying, look, and there is no guarantee that Trump isn't going to try to undercut it. [SPEAKER_08]: Because that's, that's the kind of a stupid ridiculous amateur childish thing that he does.

[SPEAKER_08]: Yes, am I concerned as we talked about earlier? [SPEAKER_08]: Yes. [SPEAKER_08]: Am I, oh my God, worried? [SPEAKER_08]: No. [SPEAKER_08]: But do I think that you need to be calling your Congress members and you know, tell them, hey, you know, get on Trump and find out about all the things, including the Epstein stuff. [SPEAKER_08]: I absolutely do. [SPEAKER_08]: Call them and tell them, they need to subpoena Alex Costa. [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_08]: Absolutely.

[SPEAKER_08]: Look, it is a Thursday night. [SPEAKER_08]: Jody, I know who we have. [SPEAKER_08]: Who do we have coming up? [SPEAKER_08]: John, few who sang. [SPEAKER_08]: He's going off on the west coast in of the bar tonight. [SPEAKER_08]: He will be coming in even more west than I am. [SPEAKER_08]: True, exactly. [SPEAKER_08]: Look, best thing you can do. [SPEAKER_08]: Get your drink refreshed. [SPEAKER_08]: Come on back for another round.

[SPEAKER_08]: It's Thursday night here at the politics bar. [SPEAKER_11]: We'll be right back after we pay some bills at the politics bar. [SPEAKER_08]: It's political I like that completely different response which is always good you always keep me on my toes and I appreciate that [SPEAKER_08]: his Tony Hamilton is awesome. [SPEAKER_08]: She also was generally right. [SPEAKER_08]: Cause that's just what we say around here at the politics. [SPEAKER_08]: Mark Thursday night.

[SPEAKER_08]: Another guy who is right. [SPEAKER_08]: John Fugel sang is coming in from the West Coast. [SPEAKER_08]: He's not coming in on the train today. [SPEAKER_08]: He actually has I believe a rental card. [SPEAKER_08]: And you know, his family's with him. [SPEAKER_08]: So kind of fun. [SPEAKER_08]: Look, it's always the way it is. [SPEAKER_08]: It's fun when you hang out with us here at the politics bar. [SPEAKER_08]: Thank you, by the way.

[SPEAKER_08]: Wherever you happen to be coming in from tonight, whether that happens to be America, one radio in Atlanta or AM-Nine, Fifty, Minneapolis, Saint Paul. [SPEAKER_08]: Maybe you're listening on the detour talk in Tennessee or WCPTA in May, Tony Chicago, or maybe you are listening on progressive voices radio worldwide, wherever you happen to be.

[SPEAKER_08]: You know, you could be listening on the podcast too, and it could be a completely different time of day, and we have no idea what time it is, where you are. [SPEAKER_08]: Yes, yes. [SPEAKER_08]: If you have a cat, tell them we said hello as well. [SPEAKER_13]: Yeah, hi, kiddies. [SPEAKER_08]: Just make sure you're subscribed to the to the podcast, the favorite podcast player type it in the politics bar. [SPEAKER_08]: All righty, Jodie. [SPEAKER_08]: We have more news on tap today.

[SPEAKER_08]: And it is the desperation of not just Trump, obviously, with the Epstein thing. [SPEAKER_08]: I mean, that the man is desperate in and his team is to in trying to get people to know nothing to see here, nothing to see here. [SPEAKER_08]: But then you look at some of the departments that are having issues. [SPEAKER_08]: You know, they've thrown ice for a perfect example. [SPEAKER_08]: Sorry, I had a little cough there. [SPEAKER_08]: I just, this is, this is hilarious to me.

[SPEAKER_08]: The Trump administration is forcibly reassigning FEMA workers during hurricane season to go work at ICE in order to boost the staffing of ICE. [SPEAKER_13]: Well, so you mean can be with them? [SPEAKER_08]: Oh, yeah. [SPEAKER_08]: The right wing nut job former Superman actor. [SPEAKER_08]: Worst Superman. [SPEAKER_08]: exactly, total jerk. [SPEAKER_08]: He is, well, what can I say about his, his, his performances other than they are disappointed.

[SPEAKER_08]: Yeah, you know, it's very disappointing. [SPEAKER_08]: But yeah, he's, he says he's now working for ICE as well. [SPEAKER_08]: But so it's not only their reassigning people, homeland security is removing the age limits for their ICE recruits. [SPEAKER_13]: What do you mean like, fourteen year olds? [SPEAKER_08]: Well, they are removing, especially on the upper end.

[SPEAKER_13]: Okay. [SPEAKER_08]: So normally they're like, you know, you can only be having a forty five or something. [SPEAKER_08]: I don't know. [SPEAKER_08]: Now they're doing the old, but they're they are suggesting doing, you know, older teenagers as well. [SPEAKER_08]: Here's the funny thing in their their efforts to do this. [SPEAKER_08]: They've been pushing this meme out there. [SPEAKER_08]: where they're like, oh, look, there's a younger man in an older man.

[SPEAKER_08]: Obviously, they had AI put this stupid thing together because they're literally, they're mean that they're pushing. [SPEAKER_08]: It is so mirror image of a meme that the Nazis use. [SPEAKER_08]: Oh, God. [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah, but here it is. [SPEAKER_08]: It was near the end of World War II when the Nazis were desperate to get soldiers. [SPEAKER_08]: So they also lowered the age and increased the age.

[SPEAKER_08]: Basically said to any old people, because I'm going, you couldn't put up a more blatant sign that says, we are freaking desperate. [SPEAKER_08]: We are freaking desperate. [SPEAKER_08]: That's what ice is doing. [SPEAKER_08]: And here's the thing. [SPEAKER_08]: We had this in the news on tap earlier this week. [SPEAKER_08]: They already have agreed to lower the number that they said they were going to get.

[SPEAKER_08]: The number of people are trying to get because they know that they can't get because they've gotten the criminals. [SPEAKER_08]: That's why they're picking up people who are not criminals. [SPEAKER_08]: They're still we're gonna do this and we're gonna do that.

[SPEAKER_08]: They can't justify the money that they're gonna be getting from this big ugly bill and they can't justify their their threats because they've already gotten most of the people that they could get that they should have been getting that they promised they were going to get. [SPEAKER_08]: They're just left with average people who are just happened to be immigrants like the the [SPEAKER_08]: ancestors of a lot of people in this country. [SPEAKER_08]: Oh yeah.

[SPEAKER_08]: And now they don't know what are we going to do? [SPEAKER_08]: So I'm I'm said they're going my god. [SPEAKER_08]: You you saw that you saw the thing. [SPEAKER_08]: I think you did. [SPEAKER_08]: Did you hear this morning? [SPEAKER_08]: Mayor Bass on Steph show. [SPEAKER_13]: Oh yeah, no, no, the pensky truck that was rented. [SPEAKER_13]: And and pensky is looking into it because you're not supposed to put human beings in the back of a cargo truck. [SPEAKER_08]: Right exactly.

[SPEAKER_08]: That's totally illegal. [SPEAKER_13]: I think they're and it it violates their contract. [SPEAKER_08]: That's the thing. [SPEAKER_08]: This is where the law comes in. [SPEAKER_08]: It not only violates their contract, but it could ban the feds from renting pensky trucks. [SPEAKER_08]: They could, they could say, no, we're sorry, but because you broke it. [SPEAKER_13]: You violated our contract, so I'm not going to contract with you again.

[SPEAKER_13]: Now, hopefully budget and others gap in and all these other places will follow suit so that they can't do that anymore. [SPEAKER_13]: It's ridiculous. [SPEAKER_13]: They claim that they're own, we're in marked vehicles. [SPEAKER_13]: Well, those aren't marked vehicles. [SPEAKER_08]: Well, and I'm sure their lawyers will try to claim something like, well, it was marked. [SPEAKER_08]: Yes. [SPEAKER_08]: It was marked with a pensky label on the side. [SPEAKER_08]: It didn't say ice.

[SPEAKER_12]: Right. [SPEAKER_08]: Oh, sorry. [SPEAKER_08]: Just drives me nuts. [SPEAKER_08]: Just, it's one of those things. [SPEAKER_08]: You just, you sit there and you're like, oh man, come on guys. [SPEAKER_08]: Just. [SPEAKER_08]: I have to shut my shut my mic off occasionally and just curse because I understand.

[SPEAKER_08]: We are on broadcast radio after all and I can't I can't always say what I want to say about these ice monsters, but they they are definitely what's the right word word ice holes. [SPEAKER_13]: There you go. [SPEAKER_13]: Farging ice holes. [SPEAKER_08]: The farging ice holes, exactly. [SPEAKER_08]: Always, always a good phrase on that. [SPEAKER_08]: Look, you want to read any of these stories. [SPEAKER_08]: We've got the more in-depth.

[SPEAKER_08]: You can check it out at the news on tap. [SPEAKER_08]: That's at thepaltxbar.com. [SPEAKER_08]: There is some better news, certain things. [SPEAKER_08]: South Park. [SPEAKER_08]: They had another episode last night. [SPEAKER_13]: I haven't seen it yet. [SPEAKER_13]: I can't wait. [SPEAKER_08]: Okay. [SPEAKER_08]: Okay. [SPEAKER_08]: I was going to say, I don't want to spoil it for those people who haven't seen it.

[SPEAKER_08]: We had a little south couple of the South Park images on the news graphic today for the news on tap. [SPEAKER_08]: Long and short today. [SPEAKER_08]: They mocked Christie. [SPEAKER_08]: No. [SPEAKER_08]: And they had JD Vance kind of be the [SPEAKER_08]: I have any of you remember the old fantasy island TV show. [SPEAKER_08]: I know you do, Joe. [SPEAKER_08]: You have a delicious image. [SPEAKER_08]: Right. [SPEAKER_08]: Basically, they made JD Vance of a villagers.

[SPEAKER_08]: They made him tattoo from a plane, the plane. [SPEAKER_08]: Right. [SPEAKER_08]: Which I've always, I've always joked about that. [SPEAKER_08]: Back in the day, when that show was on, I said that character would make the perfect flight attendant for helping people off. [SPEAKER_13]: Deplane. [SPEAKER_13]: Deplane. [SPEAKER_13]: Get off deplane. [SPEAKER_08]: Sometimes people just do not seem to understand. [SPEAKER_08]: The flight is landed, collect your stuff, and get off.

[SPEAKER_08]: This is not target, but still, we're closed. [SPEAKER_08]: Please, thank you. [SPEAKER_08]: The bar is open. [SPEAKER_08]: I'm just saying anyway, never mind. [SPEAKER_08]: There's just a look inside my weird mind there anyway. [SPEAKER_08]: So some interesting news in entertainment too. [SPEAKER_08]: Kelly Clarkson. [SPEAKER_08]: She's got that Vegas residency. [SPEAKER_08]: Right. [SPEAKER_08]: She has revealed that her ex husband is ill and seriously ill, I guess.

[SPEAKER_13]: And that kids don't they? [SPEAKER_08]: And yeah, they have two and they're young. [SPEAKER_08]: I think they're ten and seven. [SPEAKER_08]: And so she's helping out that way. [SPEAKER_13]: And I know they divorced during COVID during the beginning of COVID because they were spending too much time together, I guess.

[SPEAKER_08]: Well, and I also guess that he, I don't, I if I remember the, if I remember that story, Rickley, that he did some things with her money that he wasn't supposed to. [SPEAKER_08]: Right. [SPEAKER_13]: Yeah, it was a bad falling out for sure. [SPEAKER_08]: And yet, she is still being the mature parent. [SPEAKER_08]: And saying, look, I need to do, I need to take care of my kids. [SPEAKER_08]: I need to do those things, I need to go spend some time.

[SPEAKER_08]: And so she is doing that. [SPEAKER_08]: So some people are, yeah, I mean, I applaud her for doing that. [SPEAKER_08]: Some people are still like, well, and I'm like, no, you can't knock her for being a good mom. [SPEAKER_08]: You can't knock her for being a good parent. [SPEAKER_13]: Yeah, it's her kid's dad. [SPEAKER_08]: This is one of these weird things. [SPEAKER_08]: Your mom is your mom. [SPEAKER_08]: Your mom is Carol Burnett, but your mom is also your mom.

[SPEAKER_12]: Right. [SPEAKER_08]: Their mom is Kelly Clarkson, but their mom is still their mom. [SPEAKER_12]: Right. [SPEAKER_08]: There was somebody posted, was it on some stack last night? [SPEAKER_08]: I think it was, or was it Facebook? [SPEAKER_08]: I can't remember. [SPEAKER_08]: About how, you know, I just can't believe that your uncle Jim. [SPEAKER_12]: Oh, yeah. [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_08]: And I'm like, yeah. [SPEAKER_08]: I mean, yes, your uncle Jim is Jim neighbors.

[SPEAKER_13]: Yes. [SPEAKER_08]: But he's also your uncle Jim. [SPEAKER_13]: He's my godfather. [SPEAKER_13]: He was my godfather. [SPEAKER_08]: Right. [SPEAKER_08]: I mean, you know, growing up he was he was uncle Jim. [SPEAKER_08]: It wasn't, you know, hey, there's that amazing singer and actor Jim neighbors. [SPEAKER_13]: It was he was also a certified public accountant. [SPEAKER_13]: No way, really.

[SPEAKER_08]: Yeah, if he had had an issue like Kelly Clarkson did, he wouldn't have had that issue. [SPEAKER_08]: Just saying a Kelly Clarkson or CPA, she would not have had that issue because she would have known. [SPEAKER_13]: No, Uncle Jim definitely reviewed his taxes, you know, things like that and understood it. [SPEAKER_08]: Famous people can be other things other than famous. [SPEAKER_08]: That's just how it is. [SPEAKER_08]: Famous people are not always just famous.

[SPEAKER_08]: They are also sometimes just normal people. [SPEAKER_08]: Hey, hey, look who just walked into the bar. [SPEAKER_08]: Somebody who's also famous and normal and still very cool. [SPEAKER_08]: Trump's like, he's looking around like, wait a minute, I'm famous. [SPEAKER_04]: Okay. [SPEAKER_04]: I'm a working artist, it's better, trust me. [SPEAKER_08]: Look, you have all people, all of the fantastic people that you've interviewed over the years.

[SPEAKER_08]: I mean, we had a commenter on one of our social media platforms who was just shocked because Jody refers to her uncle Jim as her uncle Jim, because he is her uncle Jim. [SPEAKER_08]: And yet the commenter was like, I can't believe you didn't tell us he was Jim neighbors. [SPEAKER_08]: And it's like, yeah, I mean, it's it's her uncle. [SPEAKER_13]: And so he also was a macadamian at farmer. [SPEAKER_08]: No way. [SPEAKER_13]: Yeah, he had a huge farm on Maui.

[SPEAKER_08]: See, they're all kinds of interesting things about your uncle that I did not know about. [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah, that's that was kind of the point is that we were talking that the people do not really a lot of times people think that famous people [SPEAKER_08]: I guess I don't know what they think of them because I've always thought, you know, they're just people who happen to be famous or infamous, whatever.

[SPEAKER_04]: And you know what, I was just having this conversation with Jack Nicholson about how much I hate name droppers and I'll tell you something. [SPEAKER_04]: Celebrities are so much like the rest of us, because whenever I'm going down to seven, eleven with Ben Kingsley, like he hates name droppers as much as I do. [SPEAKER_04]: And you know, so I guess they really are just like us. [SPEAKER_08]: I get it. [SPEAKER_08]: I get it.

[SPEAKER_08]: There are there are some things about famous people that didn't make them different, but there are a lot of things. [SPEAKER_08]: We were talking about the Kelly Clarkson thing. [SPEAKER_08]: She's paused her Vegas residency because her ex husband, I guess he's got a serious illness. [SPEAKER_08]: Oh, did he really? [SPEAKER_08]: Oh, that's gross. [SPEAKER_08]: Wow. [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah, but she said she she said she did it because she needed to take care of the kids.

[SPEAKER_08]: They're ten and seven and she says she's got to go and I'm going, well, that's what that's what a good mom. [SPEAKER_08]: That's what a good parent would do if you're co parenting with an ex. [SPEAKER_08]: That's just what you do. [SPEAKER_08]: And some people are like, well, I can't believe it's going through with the show. [SPEAKER_04]: They're going to call you a monster. [SPEAKER_04]: Exactly.

[SPEAKER_12]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_04]: And I was talking about this with Kelly last week. [SPEAKER_04]: Kelly, she's very sensitive to these critiques from people because she really is just like us and these words hurt. [SPEAKER_08]: I think in many ways, Kelly Clarkson actually is closer to a more normal person in a lot of ways. [SPEAKER_08]: I do think that she [SPEAKER_08]: There's a part of her, just the way that she acts and from things that I've heard that she didn't.

[SPEAKER_08]: She always kind of said, yes, it would be neat to be a singing star. [SPEAKER_08]: But she didn't necessarily think about the star part of it so much. [SPEAKER_08]: And there's a lot of the ways that she acts is just where she's like, oh crap, I guess I am famous. [SPEAKER_08]: I didn't quite realize that. [SPEAKER_04]: And it's nice. [SPEAKER_04]: I guess I haven't thought about it enough. [SPEAKER_04]: I guess I haven't thought about it enough.

[SPEAKER_04]: But like most of us, most of us, she has work with Justin Guarini at some point. [SPEAKER_08]: She should just come on your show on serious exam at some point. [SPEAKER_08]: That's, you should interview her. [SPEAKER_04]: When she's back in New York, if we, if we have any space in the calendar, I'd love to make it happen. [SPEAKER_04]: I'd be great. [SPEAKER_08]: Thank you for coming into the bar tonight. [SPEAKER_08]: You are hanging out with us.

[SPEAKER_08]: We've got a new piece from you on the sub stack that you put out earlier today. [SPEAKER_08]: We've got some of the news on tap. [SPEAKER_08]: We want to get your wonderful wisdom about. [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah, I know. [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah, yeah, I don't give me that luck. [SPEAKER_08]: Look, you have wisdom. [SPEAKER_08]: You're smart about all these kinds of things. [SPEAKER_04]: Look, I think what RFK is doing with the MRN Day vaccines is great.

[SPEAKER_04]: We finally created something that works in this century, and then we have to drop it. [SPEAKER_04]: I get what he's doing. [SPEAKER_09]: It's brilliant. [SPEAKER_09]: What's talk about that? [SPEAKER_09]: Why do you trust man? [SPEAKER_11]: Four decades. [SPEAKER_11]: Get yourself another round and come back. [SPEAKER_11]: We'll be right back after we pay some bills at the politics bar.

[SPEAKER_08]: Thursday night, or you could call it, but early Friday, depending on when you're listening, that's true. [SPEAKER_08]: We're here at the politics bar with the one and only John Fuelsang who is joining us from the west coast end of the bar this evening. [SPEAKER_08]: you're not an usual seat man. [SPEAKER_08]: It's you know, a little bit different background.

[SPEAKER_08]: I'm I'm so used to you being in that, you know, dark New York apartment with this, you know, great big black thing that moves behind you, known as you son who was Jagged at the tall here. [SPEAKER_04]: It's all oat milk and astrology here. [SPEAKER_08]: Look, it's great. [SPEAKER_08]: It's great to have you out of the West Coast in of the bar.

[SPEAKER_08]: Okay, do things look different from the West Coast in of the bar as far as a Trump and Epstein, or does it still look like he's lying his ass off? [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I mean, West Coast East Coast, the story's never going away. [SPEAKER_04]: It's, I love never going away. [SPEAKER_04]: Like some of the rashes Donald Trump has had since he knew Epstein. [SPEAKER_04]: It's never going away.

[SPEAKER_04]: Party system will never release the names of all of these donors to both parties that were raping children on this island. [SPEAKER_04]: So this story will never go away because he promised something and he cannot deliver on it. [SPEAKER_04]: Right. [SPEAKER_04]: They could have G-Lane Maxwell [SPEAKER_04]: give them a name, give them a bunch of names from her prison cell. [SPEAKER_04]: But that's not going to be the same as releasing the files he promised so many times to release.

[SPEAKER_04]: And it's great that this lady is like the most famous sex trafficker, arguably the most famous rapist in America. [SPEAKER_04]: And now she's going to get Pilates and movie nights. [SPEAKER_04]: And put out. [SPEAKER_04]: She gets, she gets cucumber in her water now at the new jail. [SPEAKER_04]: It's great that he's doing so much for her. [SPEAKER_04]: And if the Democratic Party can't do anything about it, then they don't deserve to win. [SPEAKER_08]: They've been pushing.

[SPEAKER_08]: They've been pushing. [SPEAKER_08]: They've been pushing. [SPEAKER_04]: They have to know. [SPEAKER_08]: They're getting the Epstein files. [SPEAKER_08]: And I love they've been pushing. [SPEAKER_08]: But the thing is, so the Republicans decided to subpoena those ten different people, including the Clintons and, you know, [SPEAKER_08]: But here's the, the one person they, I'm sorry. [SPEAKER_04]: I'm sorry. [SPEAKER_04]: I'm sorry.

[SPEAKER_04]: I thought the Republicans decided to not try to release the files, but subpoena other people for others. [SPEAKER_04]: Like try to get the grand jury testimony from four years ago. [SPEAKER_04]: Not actually releasing the files. [SPEAKER_04]: They said they were there to release. [SPEAKER_04]: So I understand what we're talking about. [SPEAKER_08]: Right, right, right.

[SPEAKER_08]: But they got that they, they're, there were enough Republicans that the Democrats got to agree with them to release the files. [SPEAKER_08]: But then they also had these subpoenas. [SPEAKER_08]: But the one thing the Democrats and Congress pushing for before they went on break here was at least with respect in the oversight committee to these subpoenas. [SPEAKER_08]: Democrats are like fine. [SPEAKER_08]: You want to subpoena these people.

[SPEAKER_08]: And the Democrats said subpoena Alex Acosta, the guy who gave the sweetheart deal to Epstein in the first place. [SPEAKER_08]: And Republicans said, la, la, la, la, la, I'm sorry. [SPEAKER_08]: I can't hear you. [SPEAKER_08]: We'll subpoena Bill Barr. [SPEAKER_08]: We'll subpoena James Komi. [SPEAKER_08]: We'll subpoena Bill and Hillary Clinton. [SPEAKER_08]: But we won't actually subpoena the guy who got Epstein this week, hard deal. [SPEAKER_08]: Or coming starter.

[SPEAKER_08]: Oh, yeah. [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_08]: And they don't want to bring it. [SPEAKER_08]: They don't want to, this was your idea, Joe. [SPEAKER_08]: You act surprised by this. [SPEAKER_08]: They should bring forward the victims and have them testify in an open session of Congress as well. [SPEAKER_08]: I'm a hundred percent with you on that. [SPEAKER_13]: Yeah, the ones who want to testify, they should be able to. [SPEAKER_13]: I have no problems with that.

[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, but they don't want answers. [SPEAKER_04]: They want distractions and so they're doing Trump's bidding and it's going to get more and more awkward for the Republicans because the reality is Trump is never running for office again, but they still have to. [SPEAKER_04]: Really how much does it help them to defend protecting child rapists at the behest of this man who never has to seek office again, but they'll have to.

[SPEAKER_04]: Some of them may want to affect them at all, but honestly, I'm on oligarch watch full time. [SPEAKER_04]: I am no longer. [SPEAKER_04]: I said this last week on your show. [SPEAKER_04]: I am no longer waiting for the MAGA underlings to realize that they put their faith in someone above them. [SPEAKER_04]: No, I'm ready for the oligarchs to cut this guy loose.

[SPEAKER_04]: The people who actually own this country, the landlords of America, Donald Trump is the guy standing in front of their velvet rope saying, no, no, poor is allowed in the afternoon. [SPEAKER_04]: But he's never been one of them. [SPEAKER_04]: And when Rupert Murdock released the story of Donald Trump's Jeff Epstein birthday card and Trump sued this ninety four-year-old billionaire for twenty billion dollars and Murdock responded to the lawsuit by laughing in his face.

[SPEAKER_04]: And announcing in the Wall Street Journal that Pam Bondi told Trump in May, he was in the files. [SPEAKER_04]: That tells me the oligarchs are done with this guy. [SPEAKER_04]: And like a bond villain, they are pushing a button that says delete asset. [SPEAKER_04]: They don't need him anymore. [SPEAKER_04]: They could have the same kind of governance from vans or one of the bushes without all this embarrassment. [SPEAKER_04]: They got their crypto bill.

[SPEAKER_04]: They got their loopholes. [SPEAKER_04]: They got their deregulation. [SPEAKER_04]: They can pollute. [SPEAKER_04]: They got their tax cut. [SPEAKER_04]: They don't deserve or need. [SPEAKER_04]: They don't need Trump anymore. [SPEAKER_04]: Watch the people above him to break up with him and stop waiting for the idiots. [SPEAKER_08]: Well, he's failing, too. [SPEAKER_08]: Did you?

[SPEAKER_08]: Did you see the little dog and pony show he did yesterday with the J. V. Vance and the head of Apple. [SPEAKER_08]: Tim, Tim Apple. [SPEAKER_08]: And okay, but did you did you notice how he kind of couldn't keep track of the people who were behind him? [SPEAKER_08]: He was kind of bumbling around like an old man. [SPEAKER_08]: Some like I'm sitting there going he's done.

[SPEAKER_08]: He did he did the thing he went up on the roof of the White House this week and said we should put nuclear missiles up there. [SPEAKER_08]: He did the thing again with numbers where he got that you know, I'm gonna I'm gonna make sure your drugs are fifteen hundred percent cheaper.

[SPEAKER_04]: where you're like, um, dude, you're going to take a hundred percent cheaper, like, again, if this was Biden, Jake Tapper would have written nine books exactly exactly exactly that's that that's something they're going. [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah, I don't disagree with you that this is, um,

[SPEAKER_04]: That's why I'm having a harder time going on like on CNN because I can't sit across the table from these people and not acknowledge the fact that no one can believe anything this president says right like I like the last time I had to say to Scott Jennings you think you would find one day since he was sworn and he didn't lie to you and your family like the media's job is getting ratings right journalist job is telling the truth the media's job is getting ratings right and they feel

[SPEAKER_04]: They can't get ratings if they come out and say the truth, which is that this man cannot stop lying to all of us. [SPEAKER_04]: He has no control over his impulses. [SPEAKER_04]: He has no control over his lying mouth. [SPEAKER_04]: They can't say it. [SPEAKER_04]: So they got to play dumb and pretend that that's objectivity.

[SPEAKER_08]: Yeah, and I still I keep noticing that the stupid things that they keep repeating like today when Trump says that he's going to order a new census and I was looking. [SPEAKER_08]: I was looking through all of the different news. [SPEAKER_08]: And at first, I went through God, what was it? [SPEAKER_08]: I went through I think three or four and a five different mainstream news outlets. [SPEAKER_08]: And they all were like what Trump says that he's going to order a new census.

[SPEAKER_08]: Finally got to Axios, which I did not expect them to have it. [SPEAKER_08]: And Axios actually has the facts in there that Trump cannot order a new census whenever he wants. [SPEAKER_08]: It's only every ten years. [SPEAKER_08]: And that Trump was saying, well, he wants to make sure that we don't count any of the undocumented people. [SPEAKER_08]: It's like the Constitution literally, I said this last hour job. [SPEAKER_08]: I, I quoted this to Jodi here.

[SPEAKER_08]: I'll quote it again in the Constitution. [SPEAKER_08]: It says that he's here's the people who are supposed to be counted. [SPEAKER_08]: Quote whole number of persons in each state. [SPEAKER_04]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_04]: By the way, and when you look at prisons, yeah, part of the racket because those people can't vote. [SPEAKER_04]: But they still get counted as populations for federal funding to come to counties, which is why.

[SPEAKER_04]: So many of these red states want these big prisons. [SPEAKER_04]: What the people in them to have the right to democracy, but they want to get the money from the federal government. [SPEAKER_13]: Not only money, but it's more seats in the House potentially. [SPEAKER_04]: Exactly right. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Population numbers. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: And again, what we're seeing here with Texas and these really truly impressive brave Democrats.

[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: There's so much we can talk about with this, and I know it's easy to get really, really sick of it because it's dominating the news so much, but I mean, this shows how scared they are. [SPEAKER_04]: See, that's the whole story here. [SPEAKER_04]: All of this business with the guys in Texas, leaving the state to hide and and Jamie Pritzker, protected. [SPEAKER_04]: They are so terrified already that they are trying to have a mid decade census rejigger.

[SPEAKER_04]: because they're so scared of losing seats in Texas, eighteen months from now. [SPEAKER_04]: You've got to take a step back and look at the real story, which is this redistricting? [SPEAKER_04]: They are panicking. [SPEAKER_04]: They already control sixty-six percent of the congressional seats in their state, with just fifty-six percent of the votes, and they looked at their insanely rig map, and were like, you don't want to be great if this was even less democratic.

[SPEAKER_04]: And Trump ordered them. [SPEAKER_04]: So whenever they hit rock bottom, they drill through it. [SPEAKER_04]: And these brave Texas Democrats are like, you know what, we're not into this Hunger Games nonsense. [SPEAKER_04]: They broke war. [SPEAKER_04]: I'm they have fled to other states.

[SPEAKER_04]: Republicans are flipping out, but now Greg Gabba is trying to arrest legislators for not helping him steal [SPEAKER_08]: Well, he's, he's, he's threatening to, but he can't so long as they're in. [SPEAKER_08]: They, uh, who was it, uh, Coranan has said today. [SPEAKER_08]: Oh, we got to help you. [SPEAKER_08]: But the FBI can't touch him either unless these legislators do something blatantly illegal.

[SPEAKER_08]: or they step foot back in Texas, they cannot touch them with a ten thousand foot pull. [SPEAKER_04]: Exactly, right by the way, Corna, who needs to worry about his own electability. [SPEAKER_04]: He called the Democrats selfish for a skipping town. [SPEAKER_04]: This party just took a six week vacation during a debt ceiling crisis and called it legislative self care. [SPEAKER_04]: They're literally running away from DC to protect child rapists. [SPEAKER_04]: on top of all of this.

[SPEAKER_04]: And these Democrats. [SPEAKER_04]: Right. [SPEAKER_04]: Well, yeah, these Democrats gain nothing personally from this protest. [SPEAKER_04]: These new maps aren't going to affect their own seats. [SPEAKER_04]: These Democrats and Texas are risking their jobs and their reputations. [SPEAKER_04]: And now they're freedom. [SPEAKER_04]: They're liberty to protect other Texans right to a fair vote.

[SPEAKER_04]: This is like we're watching firefighters bravely run into a burning building. [SPEAKER_04]: Mm-hmm. [SPEAKER_04]: And they are sinister outside suing the fire department for property damage. [SPEAKER_13]: exactly. [SPEAKER_08]: Did you have you have you gone through? [SPEAKER_08]: I haven't heard.

[SPEAKER_08]: Whether you've gone through the PVI stuff too, John, but because I, you know, we're here in the bar in the evenings and I know you're on your show, too, but I hadn't gotten a chance to listen to this yet. [SPEAKER_08]: You know what I mean when I say the PVI stuff as far as that goes, the partisan voter index. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_08]: So for those of you made out of been here last night, it look.

[SPEAKER_08]: There are Republicans, especially in the US House now in Texas who are freaking out about this because they're like, look, you are going to change the partisan voter news. [SPEAKER_08]: The PVI from a plus fourteen in my district where I really don't have to run and I can win to like a plus nine where I'm actually going to have to work my ass off to keep my seat. [SPEAKER_08]: Missouri where they've been pushing.

[SPEAKER_08]: There are now Republicans in Missouri who are saying the same thing and they're saying [SPEAKER_08]: get out of my state because we don't need to mess around with that. [SPEAKER_08]: They already know how Jerry Mander their states are. [SPEAKER_04]: That's correct. [SPEAKER_04]: That it's already unpopular, too. [SPEAKER_04]: Right. [SPEAKER_04]: It's not exactly the voters top issue anywhere. [SPEAKER_08]: Right. [SPEAKER_08]: It isn't, but I think they're starting to make it.

[SPEAKER_08]: I think Republicans specifically Trump is driving these Republicans to make it rise up on the stack of issues that are important because people go, look, I may disagree with you. [SPEAKER_08]: But at least if we're going to compete, let's have it be somewhat fair. [SPEAKER_08]: This is this is going way outside fairness. [SPEAKER_08]: This isn't just tilting the pinball machine. [SPEAKER_08]: This is trying to topple the damn thing over.

[SPEAKER_04]: This is the great cast of he-ha, staging a violent crew is what this is, right? [SPEAKER_04]: Yes, yes, absolutely. [SPEAKER_04]: I mean, this is about politicians picking voters, right? [SPEAKER_04]: Like, they're assembling an Avengers team of bootlickers. [SPEAKER_04]: It's not about voters picking politicians at all. [SPEAKER_08]: Right. [SPEAKER_08]: Yep. [SPEAKER_08]: And people people, you know, it's, it is, there's certain levels of cheating that people will scoff at.

[SPEAKER_08]: They're, they're realized that there's, but this, like I said, it's, it's like tilt. [SPEAKER_08]: This has gone beyond that level. [SPEAKER_08]: And it's going beyond that level in such an ugly way that people are like, give me break. [SPEAKER_08]: Come on. [SPEAKER_08]: It's funny to watch this kind of stuff. [SPEAKER_08]: Also, it pairs along with we had this in the news on tap earlier in the week.

[SPEAKER_08]: You mentioned this earlier when we were doing stuff in the break that there are now two Confederate statues that are going back up here in the DC. [SPEAKER_04]: Isn't that great? [SPEAKER_04]: Isn't that terrific? [SPEAKER_04]: This confederate man. [SPEAKER_08]: Kegbreath is all who about one of them. [SPEAKER_08]: Um, it's it's in Arlington. [SPEAKER_08]: If they took it that because it was in Arlington and they were right.

[SPEAKER_04]: Arlington nothing says defending America like honoring the white supremacist traders who tried to destroy America. [SPEAKER_12]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_04]: First, it was Trump with the general, the coward. [SPEAKER_04]: And now it's the reconciliation monument, the Confederate Memorial by Moses Ezekiel, who is a huge white supremacist and heroic Jewator. [SPEAKER_04]: And they are one of restore this literal monument to white supremacy, fantasy, fan fiction.

[SPEAKER_04]: It's not about history. [SPEAKER_04]: It's about glorifying treason. [SPEAKER_04]: It's about an bombing racism in marble. [SPEAKER_04]: It's beautiful in historic. [SPEAKER_04]: Well, syphilis is historic. [SPEAKER_04]: I don't need a statue of it. [SPEAKER_04]: This guy who made the statue flew to Europe and flew the white supremacist traitor flag and Rome.

[SPEAKER_04]: And he filled this sculpture with these black caricatures to show how slaves really love their their it was more an internship really been slavery really about a real challenging fun rewarding internship and it's this is not about patriotism this is necrophilia for white supremacy the [SPEAKER_04]: Federal Sea lasted five years. [SPEAKER_04]: That's shorter than a TikTok trend.

[SPEAKER_04]: And now they say this is about honoring American history in Arlington, which was built on Robert E. Lee's seized plantation just to disgrace him, burying Union soldiers on this land was the original clapback to these white supremacist douchebags. [SPEAKER_04]: And we don't really need to get into how slavery doesn't really upset this current party of Lincoln. [SPEAKER_04]: They're a bit more the party of John Wilkes Booth if you get into their politics. [SPEAKER_08]: Absolutely.

[SPEAKER_08]: That's beautiful. [SPEAKER_08]: Absolutely. [SPEAKER_04]: Absolutely. [SPEAKER_08]: Absolutely. [SPEAKER_08]: Absolutely. [SPEAKER_08]: Absolutely. [SPEAKER_08]: Absolutely. [SPEAKER_08]: Absolutely. [SPEAKER_08]: Absolutely. [SPEAKER_08]: Absolutely. [SPEAKER_08]: Absolutely. [SPEAKER_08]: Absolutely. [SPEAKER_08]: Absolutely. [SPEAKER_08]: Absolutely. [SPEAKER_04]: Make America, eighteen, fifty-nine again. [SPEAKER_04]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_04]: Exactly.

[SPEAKER_12]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_08]: They are, they are so, so stupid about some of that stuff. [SPEAKER_08]: Just blows my mind and they hate America. [SPEAKER_04]: They hate America. [SPEAKER_04]: You don't get to say that you love the Confederate flag and the United States flag. [SPEAKER_04]: Okay, boo-boo. [SPEAKER_04]: You don't get to food for both the Smurfs and Gargamel. [SPEAKER_04]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_04]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_04]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_08]: Exactly.

[SPEAKER_08]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_08]: By the way, is anybody seen that New Smurfs movie? [SPEAKER_08]: I have yet to see that one. [SPEAKER_04]: I have not. [SPEAKER_04]: I was going to see it, but that was my day to go perform for Laceo on the homeless. [SPEAKER_04]: So I couldn't make it. [SPEAKER_04]: I hope to get down there at some point. [SPEAKER_04]: I really do. [SPEAKER_04]: Really wanted to go that day. [SPEAKER_08]: I, I, I, I, I, I take it.

[SPEAKER_08]: That's a no. [SPEAKER_08]: Okay. [SPEAKER_04]: I got a thirteen year old. [SPEAKER_04]: I finally aged out of having this he smurf film sir. [SPEAKER_08]: Hey, we can talk about that. [SPEAKER_08]: We can talk about your vacation, which you're technically on vacation now. [SPEAKER_08]: I think, yes. [SPEAKER_04]: I'm technically working. [SPEAKER_04]: I come to LA because I just want to be more pale than everybody else. [SPEAKER_08]: We'll talk about that.

[SPEAKER_08]: We'll talk about more of the news on tap. [SPEAKER_08]: We've got the wonderful John Fuckel saying here in the bar with us, come on back for last call on a Thursday night with Joey, me and John Hang on. [SPEAKER_11]: We'll be right back after we pay some bills at the politics bar. [SPEAKER_08]: I know. [SPEAKER_08]: Look, it's Thursday night here at the politics bar. [SPEAKER_08]: You got Jody Hamilton. [SPEAKER_08]: You got me.

[SPEAKER_08]: And you got the one and only John Fugel saying, hangin' out with us from the West Coast end of the bar. [SPEAKER_08]: I do like that little background you've got now with the lights. [SPEAKER_08]: That thing is kind of cool. [SPEAKER_08]: It's kind of funky lights behind you there. [SPEAKER_08]: But, you know, it's working for you, John. [SPEAKER_08]: It's working for you. [SPEAKER_04]: I call it my kids bedroom. [SPEAKER_08]: Thank you, Jack. [SPEAKER_08]: Thank you.

[SPEAKER_08]: Hopefully he will get something good for the holidays because I do know that Trump dynamics is definitely here no more tacos Trump is decided he's actually going to let these ex just horrible tariffs go into effect he wasn't just manipulating the stock market this time he fully for times shame on me, but now he's really doing it and get ready for Americans to get a great civics lesson and how this whole thing really works

[SPEAKER_08]: Oh, yeah, I mean, and the price is we were we were talking in the break here. [SPEAKER_08]: I still have some friends who work at retail level. [SPEAKER_08]: I have some friends who a specific friend whose nickname is Huggie Bear. [SPEAKER_08]: And he still works at the Walmart when he and I started this Walmart, two thousand three. [SPEAKER_08]: I worked there, you know, along with working in the radio because hey, radio, we all know, doesn't exactly pay the best sometimes.

[SPEAKER_08]: So when they start a new building, it is very normal at a Walmart. [SPEAKER_08]: They will have build it. [SPEAKER_08]: They enclose it. [SPEAKER_08]: And then the people that they've hired to do everything from cash sharing and work in the apartments actually help finish the inside of it. [SPEAKER_08]: It's kind of, yeah, anyway. [SPEAKER_08]: They are, they've been pushing a lot of the stuff earlier. [SPEAKER_08]: They pushed the back to school stuff earlier this year.

[SPEAKER_08]: They've been pushing the Halloween stuff earlier this year. [SPEAKER_08]: And the reason they're doing is because the big retailers, Walmart being one of the biggest, [SPEAKER_08]: bought a bunch of their Christmas, Hanukkah, New Years, whatever stuff, and they bought it, and they're pushing it out earlier. [SPEAKER_08]: They don't have a place to put all this stuff in the warehouses.

[SPEAKER_08]: So they got to get rid of the Halloween stuff, so that way they have room for the Christmas stuff. [SPEAKER_08]: So of course, they pushed it out. [SPEAKER_08]: That's why you're seeing it in all these stores so early, because yeah, and look, it's a physical product. [SPEAKER_08]: They got to find a place to put it. [SPEAKER_04]: I just need to know am I going to blame the egg prices on hunter Biden or trans kids or migrants? [SPEAKER_04]: Yes. [SPEAKER_04]: And you helped me.

[SPEAKER_04]: Can you hook me up Sean in advance? [SPEAKER_04]: I don't. [SPEAKER_04]: I just I got to know. [SPEAKER_08]: I believe I believe it will be Alex Acosta and by God we should put him in alligator alcatraz and they will never hear from him again. [SPEAKER_08]: Just you know that's that's that's that's my thought as far as some of these people that are involved with that stuff.

[SPEAKER_08]: That's that's kind of my thought of where they're going to try to but [SPEAKER_04]: look you gotta look at this way okay the prices are gonna go up prices for food are gonna go up they don't want to do anything about gun violence they don't want to do anything about climate change they don't want to do anything about income inequality [SPEAKER_04]: But they're going to do something about these damn paper straws. [SPEAKER_04]: So let's just be grateful.

[SPEAKER_04]: The Republican Party is on the case, all right? [SPEAKER_08]: What they did, what they do about terrorism. [SPEAKER_08]: This was a story. [SPEAKER_08]: Can't remember where we had it yesterday, the day before or whether I just saw it, we didn't stick it in. [SPEAKER_08]: The Trump administration has pulled back fifty four million dollars in terrorism prevention from New York City.

[SPEAKER_08]: And they did it in part because of after this this mass shooting that just occurred at the NFL headquarters building where they had four people get shot and killed and yeah, I'm I'm sitting there going how do you look at that and justify pulling back a mass shooting is by definition terrorism and yet nope there they're on it when it comes to guns John they think there should be more violence not less [SPEAKER_04]: They don't care about anything the power shown true.

[SPEAKER_04]: They don't care about abortion. [SPEAKER_04]: Yep. [SPEAKER_04]: They don't care about immigration. [SPEAKER_04]: They care about power and it will say and believe and fight for anything they have to publicly say believe and fight for. [SPEAKER_04]: to get the power that they believe God intends for them to have. [SPEAKER_09]: Right. [SPEAKER_04]: That's it. [SPEAKER_04]: They believe in nothing but themselves and their own specialness.

[SPEAKER_04]: And anybody they tell are allowed because God likes them so much more than the rest of us that lies get a pass. [SPEAKER_08]: That is definitely a topic I know that's on your mind because your new book separation of church and hate comes out September night for those of you who have not already purchased the book. [SPEAKER_08]: We've got to link to it in the guest section under John's watch. [SPEAKER_04]: This guy's good, Jody. [SPEAKER_04]: Thank you very much.

[SPEAKER_08]: That the politics bar in the news on tap today. [SPEAKER_08]: Look, it's very simple. [SPEAKER_08]: This is I want to get my copy. [SPEAKER_08]: I want to know when you're coming down here to DC. [SPEAKER_08]: So I can have you sign it. [SPEAKER_08]: And also we can actually have a real drink at the same time in the same physical location together.

[SPEAKER_04]: But there is going to be a tour there will be a, it will probably more like sporadic gicking, but there will be a tour of hoping to [SPEAKER_04]: I know we're doing the ninety-second street why in New York City on September twenty fifth. [SPEAKER_04]: I think that's the only data I'm allowed to announce so far, but we will be coming around.

[SPEAKER_08]: uh... look i want this book to be banned as many confederate states as possible so i will be on the road doing my best to make sure that this book is banned and vilified by all the right people right on the it's it's about the kind of people who have really destroyed the the you know if if you thought the republican party had anything uh... decent in it these people have destroyed it and they've done a lot of destroyer politics they are they're not Christians they're fake Christians they are what do you call them fans like Elvis is that's like Elvis is fans

[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, there's a lot of names you can call them, right? [SPEAKER_04]: You can you can call them fake Christians. [SPEAKER_04]: You can call them Christians in name only. [SPEAKER_04]: Um, you go, I can't, I can't, I can't say what I, I call them grab them by the pee van jellicles. [SPEAKER_04]: All right. [SPEAKER_04]: All kinds of things you can call them.

[SPEAKER_04]: Um, Christian nationalism is going to become an umbrella term for all matter of right wing Christian and fundamentalist. [SPEAKER_04]: But they don't fight for any of the things that the character of Jesus in the book fights for. [SPEAKER_04]: And I wrote this book for anybody of any belief system, atheist, agnostic, Christian, any religion, anyone who has to deal with these flock fleeting frauds, with these fascists, with these fundamentalists.

[SPEAKER_04]: Because I got tired of seeing my parents' religion used to justify a lot of meanness. [SPEAKER_04]: And there's like nothing that Jesus commands people to do, that the Donald Trump movement [SPEAKER_04]: fights for. [SPEAKER_12]: Right. [SPEAKER_04]: So this is the movement that hides behind a giant shiny gold cross so they can take a big dump on a new testament. [SPEAKER_04]: And that's what they do. [SPEAKER_04]: Jesus is a prop to these people.

[SPEAKER_04]: You don't need to believe in the Bible as literal fact. [SPEAKER_04]: You don't need to believe in any of it. [SPEAKER_04]: to take it away from these people and stop letting them use the Bible as a cloaking device for their own hate to stop letting them use Jesus as camouflage. [SPEAKER_04]: So that's why I wrote it for anybody of any belief system who's ever had to deal with these people to show that their theology is and has always been completely full of crap.

[SPEAKER_04]: There's a really incredible history of real Christianity in this country and it is always always come.

[SPEAKER_04]: as resistance to right wing conservative authoritarian Christianity, the abolition movement for slavery, ending the civil rights movement to end the white Christian culture of segregation, homophobia, labor rights, women's rights, everything in this country that has been actual Christian activism has been because actual Christians have overcome these right wing frauds who just believe in their own power.

[SPEAKER_08]: Actual Christians also like actual Muslims and actual Jews and actual atheists. [SPEAKER_08]: So I'm kind of yeah, I kind of like actual Christians. [SPEAKER_04]: I mean, I think I'll say Jesus followers too, you know, like Christians, propped up slavery. [SPEAKER_04]: Jesus followers were the resistance. [SPEAKER_04]: Right. [SPEAKER_04]: Propped up, you know, apartheid for a hundred years, Jesus followers pushed back.

[SPEAKER_04]: You know, Christians are the ones with all this homophobia. [SPEAKER_04]: It's been the Jesus followers who've convinced their parents and grandparents to drop all the homophobia over the last thirty years. [SPEAKER_04]: For all these areas you can go through throughout our entire country's history, you will see these incredible acts of evil coming from Christians.

[SPEAKER_04]: But people who actually followed the teachings of Jesus have always pushed back, including their non-Christian allies, have always pushed back against these frauds. [SPEAKER_13]: Amen. [SPEAKER_08]: Amen. [SPEAKER_08]: I have a right now, a beef with somebody who I know is Christian, and is generally in favor of LGBTQ people, and it's [SPEAKER_08]: bothering me a little bit. [SPEAKER_04]: I don't know what's going on.

[SPEAKER_08]: Well Pete Buttigieg is kind of following a little bit in the the steps of Gavin Newsom with respect to waffling on trans issues. [SPEAKER_08]: It seems to be there was an interview that he did and he wasn't he's like, well, we we need to give some of these these anti-trans big hits. [SPEAKER_08]: He didn't use that phrase, but that's what they are.

[SPEAKER_08]: A little bit more [SPEAKER_08]: room to breathe when it comes and I'm like no we don't the first thing we need to say is trans rights are human rights the second thing we say is trans persons are people like everybody else yeah if you can't meet those two low bars which are just the way it is [SPEAKER_08]: then we understand you're an ad at trans big it and that's fine. [SPEAKER_08]: That's who you are.

[SPEAKER_08]: Well, that's let's start with those those those things and go forward to there. [SPEAKER_04]: Two things are true and we're also in a very conservative culture that is very afraid of things and people they don't understand. [SPEAKER_03]: Yes. [SPEAKER_04]: And so what we're witnessing Buttigieg and Newsom and we'll be seeing a lot of Democrats do it is a bit of a reckoning.

[SPEAKER_04]: In previous generations, Democrats were, you know, called unkind things because they like black people too much. [SPEAKER_12]: Right. [SPEAKER_04]: Or they like feminism too much. [SPEAKER_12]: Right. [SPEAKER_04]: Now they're being attacked for like engaged too much and you've always got to find a way to balance it out. [SPEAKER_04]: How do you be true to your ethics and be true to what's right and be true to the promise of America?

[SPEAKER_04]: While still being mindful of the fact that we're around a lot of uptight white folks. [SPEAKER_04]: with a very, very, very, very, very big, very big, very big, very big, very big, very big, very big, very big, very big, very big, very big, very big, very big, very big, very big, very big, very big, very big, very big, very big, very big, very big, very big, very big, very big, very big, very big.

[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, you've got to let men wear dresses and go into your little girls room. [SPEAKER_04]: Like that's that's the conventional wisdom and our corporate media has back that up and that dishonest conventional wisdom is getting evil right wing people elected. [SPEAKER_04]: So I empathize with Buddha judge and do some because I get the spot there in.

[SPEAKER_04]: You don't want to embrace cruelty to our fellow American citizens and you want to say yes, trans rights are human rights at the same time. [SPEAKER_04]: We're around a lot of bigoted people. [SPEAKER_04]: We don't have to start having those really unpleasant conversations about how do I have the integrity to stand up for our transgender brother and sisters while not letting myself get tagged as someone who is in thrall to one minority.

[SPEAKER_04]: Look what they've done with the sports. [SPEAKER_04]: It's all dishonest and they have beaten the crap out of Democrats with these lines. [SPEAKER_04]: I think it's really easy for Democrats to push past this, but they're scared and they're scared because we got a lot of dumb people out there. [SPEAKER_04]: when it's kind of big. [SPEAKER_04]: That's the problem. [SPEAKER_08]: That's the problem. [SPEAKER_04]: So they're trying to figure out a way around it.

[SPEAKER_04]: I get with food and judges doing it. [SPEAKER_08]: But I look at it, but I look at it at the same way as, you know, with the Texas Democrats are doing, which is you stand up and you punch them in the mouth. [SPEAKER_08]: It's very clear. [SPEAKER_08]: You want to be a bigot. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, fine. [SPEAKER_08]: We're going to call you a bigot. [SPEAKER_08]: You want to be an A whole. [SPEAKER_08]: We're going to call you an A whole.

[SPEAKER_08]: If you have a problem with it, there's the door. [SPEAKER_08]: Don't let it hit you in the ass. [SPEAKER_04]: I don't care that the Democrats are afraid of all those moderate independent white people being scared of men and dresses and voting Republican. [SPEAKER_04]: And that's what Democrats are mindful of that's the unfortunate bigoted really freaking dumb reality that Democrats are trying to navigate. [SPEAKER_13]: Exactly.

[SPEAKER_13]: I mean, the problem is with a lot of these people when it comes to the trans community. [SPEAKER_13]: They don't know anybody that's trans or if they do, they don't know that that person is trans. [SPEAKER_13]: And they don't know what they're going through. [SPEAKER_13]: I mean, I have my from Bridget past away, but my, my grand niece, who just started transitioning when she was in her mid-twenties. [SPEAKER_13]: And my friend Michael, who's an actor.

[SPEAKER_13]: And Michael, especially, I didn't know he had to tell us. [SPEAKER_13]: he was doing a one-man show about his life and he's by the way I was born female I'm like oh I didn't know that okay you know and so I mean a lot of people don't understand it and they're afraid of things they don't understand and until they know somebody or or [SPEAKER_13]: or it's presented to them in a way that makes sense to them, because I've tried to tell people years ago.

[SPEAKER_13]: A friend of mine was like, well, it's a sex thing. [SPEAKER_13]: I said, has nothing to do with sexuality. [SPEAKER_13]: It has to do with who you are as a human. [SPEAKER_04]: Getting the majority to leave homophobia behind. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: It was not a straight line. [SPEAKER_04]: You know, no. [SPEAKER_04]: And I would tell me in the nineties that we'd have gay marriage and a black president and legal weed in thirty years, I wouldn't have believed it.

[SPEAKER_04]: Same. [SPEAKER_04]: I know. [SPEAKER_08]: But I look at, I look at all the polls and I look at the stuff and what they say is people Democratic voters and people who are likely to vote Democratic, they want them to stand and fight. [SPEAKER_08]: And they want them to stand and fight. [SPEAKER_08]: And what's right. [SPEAKER_04]: And by the way, I actually believe that Democrats need to get guts here and defending our transgender protesters.

[SPEAKER_04]: Because real conservatives will respect that. [SPEAKER_04]: These are Americans, damn it. [SPEAKER_04]: And they are entitled to the same rights and protections under the law as blah, blah, blah. [SPEAKER_04]: Do it Democrats, man up. [SPEAKER_04]: Amen. [SPEAKER_04]: See? [SPEAKER_04]: Or was it up? [SPEAKER_08]: People saying is right. [SPEAKER_08]: John, thank you so much for coming by the bar this evening. [SPEAKER_08]: We always love it.

[SPEAKER_08]: We will see you here next week. [SPEAKER_08]: I hope yes. [SPEAKER_08]: Yes, we will absolutely tomorrow Friday. [SPEAKER_08]: We've got Karen and Anita from true blue politics. [SPEAKER_08]: Next week. [SPEAKER_08]: I believe we've got Carlos we do have Carlos Carlos. [SPEAKER_08]: I was Rocky will be in the bar next week as well. [SPEAKER_08]: We got a couple of people who are working on [SPEAKER_08]: It's going to be a very good Friday that we still have to get through Friday.

[SPEAKER_08]: So look, go home, rest up, and then come on back tomorrow night and meet us here at the politics party.
