[SPEAKER_07]: Then a call. [SPEAKER_06]: Thank you. [SPEAKER_07]: Then a call. [SPEAKER_07]: Then a call. [SPEAKER_07]: Then a call. [SPEAKER_07]: Then a call. [SPEAKER_07]: Then a call. [SPEAKER_07]: Then a call. [SPEAKER_07]: Then a call. [SPEAKER_07]: Then a call. [SPEAKER_07]: Then a call. [SPEAKER_07]: Then a call. [SPEAKER_07]: Then a call. [SPEAKER_06]: Then a call. [SPEAKER_06]: Then a call. [SPEAKER_06]: Then a call. [SPEAKER_06]: Then a call. [SPEAKER_06]: Then a call.
[SPEAKER_06]: Then a call. [SPEAKER_03]: Then a call. [SPEAKER_03]: Then a call. [SPEAKER_03]: Then a call. [SPEAKER_03]: Then a call. [SPEAKER_03]: Then a call. [SPEAKER_11]: Then a call. [SPEAKER_03]: Then a call. [SPEAKER_11]: I'm tired too. [SPEAKER_11]: It's been a long, as week. [SPEAKER_11]: It's been a long weekend from a lot of people out there. [SPEAKER_11]: So look, we're gonna hang with you here this Friday night.
[SPEAKER_11]: Regardless of what temperature it is, where you're at, or what you're doing, and that's what we like to do. [SPEAKER_11]: We do have some updates on ice, and also some updates on ice. [SPEAKER_11]: which look, if you know, you know, whatever look, we will also do a great drink of the day that has some ice in it. [SPEAKER_11]: It does. [SPEAKER_11]: I mean, easy pie, fam, easy for me to say, so I did that as well.
[SPEAKER_11]: Look, by the way, thank you to everybody who is coming in to us from all of our great radio affiliates, whether you are coming to us. [SPEAKER_11]: from the great folks at WCBT AMA 20 in Chicago, or maybe you are listening in the city, as many Apple St. Paul's AM950, maybe you are listening in Atlanta on Georgia now, radio, or maybe you are listening in the Tri-City's area of Tennessee on D2 or talk radio, or maybe you're somewhere else.
[SPEAKER_11]: You could be anywhere in the world. [SPEAKER_11]: Now you'd be in the International Space Station, listening on progressive voices radio, or a live. [SPEAKER_11]: So you go, or maybe you're one of those really cool future people. [UNKNOWN]: Mm-hmm.
[SPEAKER_11]: You got the the whole thing going with podcast you got any phone or maybe you really are great and you've actually paid your six dollars at the politics bar dot com and you're going to podcast ad free there you go entirely possible oh so we got a really well you didn't get up early year I got a little earlier today so I got up in my normal time yeah well okay I got a little earlier [SPEAKER_03]: That was up to hours before I saw you this morning.
[SPEAKER_11]: So well, I had I had to go go walk Christopher and normally I would normally be getting up about that time anyway and listening to Richard into the being on Richard show. [SPEAKER_11]: So I had to get up beforehand so that Christopher could go walk and do his business and then we could be on Richard show on WCP team. [SPEAKER_03]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_03]: Thank you again to Richard. [SPEAKER_03]: He's amazing. [SPEAKER_03]: I love him. [SPEAKER_11]: he is fantastic.
[SPEAKER_11]: We love all of our great radio affiliates. [SPEAKER_11]: I've got to see if we could get back with our friends over at eight night, 50. [SPEAKER_11]: And of course, run down in Atlanta. [SPEAKER_11]: Look, we love all you go. [SPEAKER_11]: And we are glad to be part of your programming day. [SPEAKER_11]: Absolutely. [SPEAKER_11]: The key, I think, did you read that piece yesterday from honorary cocks that we had in the news on tap? [SPEAKER_03]: Not really.
[SPEAKER_11]: Oh, it's just buzzed it because it's it's it's a good piece. [SPEAKER_11]: And I think more people should go back and read it because it really it's really showing out what's going on up in Minnesota.
[SPEAKER_11]: The reason why they're doing as well as they are given the ridiculousness of the ice and the ice it is they've got this wonderful community thing that a [SPEAKER_11]: It sounds almost like I'm cheapening it when I say that, but I mean, it is a strong sense of community within the cities and within the state of Minnesota in general, by the way, temperatures, temperature notes today.
[SPEAKER_11]: Temperatures with the wind show, this was around noon today, I believe it was negative 43 in Duluth, my friend Dixon lives up there. [SPEAKER_11]: So it was negative 36 in the [SPEAKER_11]: And negative 34 in Chicago, the forecast is for, especially if you're in that band kind of rentanacy and Kentucky kind of going over towards Atlanta, but a half inch to an inch of ice. [SPEAKER_03]: They're not used to that.
[SPEAKER_11]: No, uh, this is look as as somebody who you guys, y'all know I've said this before. [SPEAKER_11]: I'm from Nebraska. [SPEAKER_11]: I know storms. [SPEAKER_11]: Um, this is a serious storm. [SPEAKER_11]: This is a a no kidding there. [SPEAKER_11]: They're saying here. [SPEAKER_11]: Um, then some people still in the DC area are still doing Republicans know we're going to get a two inches. [SPEAKER_11]: going to get sex give me a break. [SPEAKER_11]: He nice.
[SPEAKER_11]: And some of this is going to be in a lot of these areas is going to be mixed snow and sleet. [SPEAKER_11]: And basically the the cold and the mix of precept is. [SPEAKER_11]: pretty much everywhere from east of about Grand Island. [SPEAKER_11]: If you know where Grand Island Nebraska is, if you look at a map of the continent in the US and you draw a line through the center of it. [SPEAKER_11]: Grand Island is about in the center. [SPEAKER_11]: Everything to the east is screwed.
[SPEAKER_11]: some direction by temperature, by precipitation, or some combination there of for the next few days. [SPEAKER_11]: So, and people are being so stupid. [SPEAKER_11]: Don't even mean. [SPEAKER_11]: Okay, so my wife has made this this observation more than once. [SPEAKER_11]: Here we are in the D.C. Metro area northern Virginia part of it, and she says do these people eat there's no shovels? [SPEAKER_11]: What the hell do they do?
[SPEAKER_11]: She's a sales manager of furniture store now, but she used to work for lows. [SPEAKER_11]: And you'd get these people come in and they're like, oh, I need 17 shovels. [SPEAKER_11]: What the hell did you do with the shovels you got last year? [SPEAKER_11]: You look, they literally made, she used to, when she worked at Lose. [SPEAKER_11]: She would see some of the same, but she, she recognizes them. [SPEAKER_11]: They came in, they got shovels last year.
[SPEAKER_11]: What did they do with them? [SPEAKER_11]: They're in the yard, I don't know. [SPEAKER_11]: But these people come in and they clear out everything in a grocery store. [SPEAKER_11]: There's a wiggman's or a chain that's up here. [SPEAKER_11]: And she said, somebody showed some pictures on one of her social media platforms. [SPEAKER_11]: And showed the wiggman's in Leesburg, the entirety of the produce department is like a couple of leaves of lettuce and maybe not great tomato.
[SPEAKER_11]: It's about it, you know. [SPEAKER_11]: It's like, are you people insane? [SPEAKER_03]: Well, I mean, is the forecast saying get enough food and stuff for the next few days, is that what it's saying? [SPEAKER_11]: For some people, yeah, and they are tending to recommend it. [SPEAKER_11]: But here's the thing, people are getting way more than they need. [SPEAKER_11]: And it's like, folks, I just, I shake my head at it because I'm like, be smart about these kinds of things.
[SPEAKER_11]: And you should have a lot of this stuff at home. [SPEAKER_11]: You should be able to in your house assuming you got the money. [SPEAKER_11]: most people have a little bit. [SPEAKER_11]: You should be able to make it a few days. [SPEAKER_11]: If you don't get to the, do you do grocery shopping like once a week or, yeah, okay, a lot of people do. [SPEAKER_11]: But you don't got a grocery store, but it's a bodega, you know, I could, I could, I can go a few days.
[SPEAKER_11]: In fact, I can go literally like a week and a half and not make one of those regular trips. [SPEAKER_11]: Right. [SPEAKER_11]: But, um, even us, we're like, okay, we do a major shop about once a week. [SPEAKER_11]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_11]: If we're smart about it, I mean, no, we're, we'll probably run out of milk. [SPEAKER_11]: We'll probably run out of orange juice, whatever. [SPEAKER_11]: But like I said, I go to the birthday, go to the grocery store, whatever.
[SPEAKER_11]: I could go grab that major shop. [SPEAKER_11]: We easily do two weeks. [SPEAKER_11]: And I think a lot of people are the same way. [SPEAKER_11]: They have extra pasta. [SPEAKER_11]: They have, you know, whatever. [SPEAKER_11]: So I'm like, why are these people clearing everything way in it? [SPEAKER_03]: Well, a problem isn't going to last that long because it's produce. [SPEAKER_11]: Well, that's true.
[SPEAKER_11]: But some of the other pictures and stuff that I'm seeing from some of these shelves, too. [SPEAKER_11]: I'm like people, people, people. [SPEAKER_03]: No, I remember when the pandemic began. [SPEAKER_03]: I went to go get just bread. [SPEAKER_03]: Right. [SPEAKER_03]: And I went to one store because I was at a thing. [SPEAKER_03]: And so I was walking home because me. [SPEAKER_03]: And I went into this one grocery store near where I was walking.
[SPEAKER_03]: And we have one very close to me the same chain. [SPEAKER_03]: And I walked in and there was nothing. [SPEAKER_03]: So I went to a small market that is basically a liquor store market. [SPEAKER_11]: Okay, yeah, and they had bread and toilet paper. [SPEAKER_03]: I went boom and boom and yeah, took what I needed And because that was that wasn't sold out yet.
[SPEAKER_11]: I want people to take what you need and Think of other people and remember there are the folks This is how the folks in Minnesota are getting through ice monsters are starting to attack in Maine Thankfully it looks like there's a sheriff up there that not happy [SPEAKER_11]: literally one of the people who was was in the program to become a sheriff and the ice monsters grab him. [SPEAKER_11]: We have that story in the news news on tap today.
[SPEAKER_03]: And the sheriff was a supporter of what was going on until what yesterday. [SPEAKER_11]: Well, yeah, as but look, what have we said before is the modern Republican motto? [SPEAKER_11]: I've got mine F U. [SPEAKER_11]: This is by the way why I'm telling you be nice when you go to the grocery stores if you still haven't yet. [SPEAKER_11]: Don't worry about, I've got mine. [SPEAKER_11]: Start thinking about other people.
[SPEAKER_11]: Get what you need, get what you need, and actually be serious in thinking about what you need. [SPEAKER_11]: And be mindful of other people and what they need. [SPEAKER_11]: That's that is a key about community. [SPEAKER_11]: It's thinking not necessarily of yourself, but thinking about everybody around you. [SPEAKER_11]: and thinking about the fact that whether we like it or not, we have limited resources. [SPEAKER_11]: We are all mortal, Lord knows.
[SPEAKER_11]: I thought about that before, by the way. [SPEAKER_11]: Do you have to think about that? [SPEAKER_11]: But some people were like, oh, I'd love to live forever, I'm like, no, but if you live forever, but all the people you loved and cared about didn't. [SPEAKER_11]: That's suck. [SPEAKER_11]: I don't want to live forever. [SPEAKER_11]: Right, but some people are like some some people they and I'm going, nah, isn't that so much fun?
[SPEAKER_11]: It's only fun if all the people that you care about live forever and the thing is as long as you live the more people you care about, that's just it's not it's not realistic, man. [SPEAKER_11]: And it's not realistic to go in and be like, I'm making it every day because, you know, if everybody else gets there before you, then you got nothing. [SPEAKER_03]: Oh, trust me, after an earthquake, it's, [SPEAKER_11]: Right. [SPEAKER_11]: Right. [SPEAKER_11]: Exactly.
[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, I have my earthquake hit and I have to replenish it every five years. [SPEAKER_11]: But you got to think about these things advanced, you got to play. [SPEAKER_03]: I know. [SPEAKER_03]: I have enough for a few days with, with, if we need water, well, I have a pool. [SPEAKER_03]: So I can, you know, utilize that. [SPEAKER_03]: But, you know, we have, we have food and blankets and lanterns and things that you are an excellent producer and an excellent human being.
[SPEAKER_03]: So I mean, most, most native Angelina's did. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I mean, anybody that lived through the Northridge earthquake? [SPEAKER_11]: Mm, especially anybody who's lived through the Northridge earthquake, yeah, that's stuff. [SPEAKER_03]: And I mean, I just, I think I need to check because it's a big duffel bag full of stuff.
[SPEAKER_11]: Yeah, look, I, yeah, I had a friend up in the P.N.W. [SPEAKER_11]: I'm something Northwest who, uh, he's a nurse, um, and they were down in Panama. [SPEAKER_11]: He had an assignment down there for like two years or whatever. [SPEAKER_11]: But unfortunately, they lost their house and lost like everything in one of the big ass fires up there, but they, they all plan for the, the big wildfires and stuff that come through up there. [SPEAKER_11]: A lot of folks in Pacific Northwest do.
[SPEAKER_03]: Well, I mean, unlike our fire last year, which is urban, I mean, it started in a what as a wildfire, and then it just became the pal says one started.
[SPEAKER_11]: it in the hill that's a whole other that's a whole other planning thing that we can I mean you can't plan for you're not thinking no but urban planners should plan for that and a lot of them haven't so yeah but you know same with the altidina it was all urban right you know but this all of this that's going on especially right now in Minnesota
[SPEAKER_11]: They had set up these community networks, starting basically back five, six years ago, six years ago now with the George Floyd stuff and the pandemic, and they kept some of these friendships and some of these connections and some of that community and because of that and because it was about planning and organizing.
[SPEAKER_11]: It was a lot easier for them to kind of get in and turn key and get a lot of this community going in the cities and throughout a lot of places in Minnesota. [SPEAKER_11]: It's been great to see. [SPEAKER_11]: We have some great stories today in the news on Tap about all that. [SPEAKER_11]: Obviously, the first round, we got Mother Nature. [SPEAKER_11]: By the way, I know Greg Bavino and his it is not very tall. [SPEAKER_11]: He is a small man with a small man's problem.
[SPEAKER_03]: He lives in the Lali pop guild. [SPEAKER_11]: Jody is right, but also he's also in the sognist and I can bet that he wishes his ice were as powerful as Mother Nature's, but I'm sorry she's a woman and she's much more powerful than you did just say anyway. [SPEAKER_11]: But we do also have a whole section there in the second around the ice monsters versus America.
[SPEAKER_11]: We're going to talk about that about how Minnesota is striking back and about how the law is also punching at these ice monsters and doing a pretty good job of it. [SPEAKER_11]: There is some frustrating news. [SPEAKER_11]: Obviously from Capitol Hill, we'll talk about some of that today. [SPEAKER_11]: Yeah, some foreign affairs clean up because Donnie went to Davos and gave everyone the finger. [SPEAKER_11]: Well, that's, but everybody else is giving him the finger too.
[SPEAKER_11]: You're number one, Donnie. [SPEAKER_11]: Anyway, we do also have a really good drink of the day. [SPEAKER_11]: It is, um, it's a sweetest pie. [SPEAKER_03]: I gotta say. [SPEAKER_03]: I, I, I, what? [SPEAKER_03]: It's based on my favorite pie. [SPEAKER_12]: I can't. [SPEAKER_12]: I am so not going to say the next thing that I was going to say. [SPEAKER_11]: No, just saying. [SPEAKER_11]: No. [SPEAKER_11]: Just saying.
[SPEAKER_11]: Look, if you know you know, and if you don't, you should subscribe and get the drink of the day. [SPEAKER_11]: There you go. [SPEAKER_11]: Oh, also Karen and Anita, Anita is back. [SPEAKER_11]: She will be here with us tonight. [SPEAKER_11]: So they both will look fresh in your drink and come on back. [SPEAKER_05]: We'll get more from the news on tap right back after we pay some bills at the politics bar. [SPEAKER_11]: It is Friday here at the politics bar.
[SPEAKER_11]: Yes, we love that it's Friday because, you know, on Friday, among other things we care and need it in here and also, you know, oftentimes, we're just kind of a little bit lighter on the news. [SPEAKER_11]: Yes, we'll cover the news, but we've been covering it all week. [SPEAKER_11]: And it's been another heavy week in news. [SPEAKER_03]: I gotta say, it's a god bless Jack Smith. [SPEAKER_11]: I'm just gonna... Oh, hell yes, love Jack Smith here. [SPEAKER_11]: Yeah, I'm blessed.
[SPEAKER_11]: Also, also for the police officers like Michael Flanagan and his friends, Helia. [SPEAKER_03]: Oh my god, I can't believe they allowed Stuart Rhodes in the same chamber. [SPEAKER_11]: Oh, it doesn't surprise me at all. [SPEAKER_11]: It doesn't surprise me at all. [SPEAKER_11]: Look, there are some of those insurrectionist traders who were sitting there on the Republican side. [SPEAKER_11]: During that whole jacksmith thing, I was so freaking frustrated.
[SPEAKER_11]: By the way, just have to note, if you guys, you know, you want to get a hold of us, you can reach out to us on all of our social media here. [SPEAKER_11]: Remember, you can get to us on Blue Sky Threads, Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, Substack, YouTube, or at the politics bar on all those. [SPEAKER_11]: And of course, you can call us on the bar phone as well, 213-677-7258 or 213-677 salt, like in your Margarita. [SPEAKER_11]: Paul and Seattle by the way, Jody be the barlines.
[SPEAKER_11]: Jody is right. [SPEAKER_11]: Whispering is one of the worst things you can do for your voice. [SPEAKER_11]: So also he wanted to let you know that he has a Lewis black button bar with things that we can't air on. [SPEAKER_11]: Oh, I bet that's funny. [SPEAKER_11]: He's black. [SPEAKER_11]: I mean, come on. [SPEAKER_11]: He's funny. [SPEAKER_11]: He's great. [SPEAKER_11]: He's great. [SPEAKER_11]: Oh, speaking of somebody else who's great.
[SPEAKER_11]: Got a good congratulations to Bello with the CD. [SPEAKER_11]: And one year, one year over at Steph's. [SPEAKER_03]: I was there that day because she was still in training. [SPEAKER_03]: I was there. [SPEAKER_11]: Yeah, which I remember and it was like, you know, I think I remember like turning turning on and going, what? [SPEAKER_11]: Huh? [SPEAKER_11]: What? [SPEAKER_03]: Oh, I remember it was between her and another person and she was the right choice.
[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, I'm sure the other person would be fine, but there's her personality is just perfect for the show. [SPEAKER_11]: It is. [SPEAKER_11]: She's great. [SPEAKER_11]: She's great hanging out over there. [SPEAKER_11]: She is amazing. [SPEAKER_11]: And she's with smart and she's doing her own YouTube thing now. [SPEAKER_03]: Mm-hmm. [SPEAKER_03]: She's doing a lot. [SPEAKER_03]: She's working her butt off. [SPEAKER_03]: talented talented persons. [SPEAKER_11]: Congrats, Bella.
[SPEAKER_11]: There you go. [SPEAKER_11]: Any. [SPEAKER_11]: So we were talking about the Jackson Miss stuff from yesterday and you know we do have that today in the fourth round and the more news to drink about the we have a section called Jackson Smith speaks out and we do have if you missed it the full story about Jackson Smith testifying in the house hearing yesterday about the Trump investigations.
[SPEAKER_11]: Um [SPEAKER_11]: I honestly, we didn't play this one yesterday and we could have, and I think it's really good, because Premier Lejiapal really did a fantastic run-out of, remember we were saying yesterday that some of the Democrats were doing very great things, asking the right questions. [SPEAKER_11]: This is an example of that, and let me play this for you.
[SPEAKER_00]: Did your investigation find that Donald Trump attempted to manufacture fraudulent states' flights of presidential electors in seven states that he lost? [SPEAKER_08]: Yes. [SPEAKER_00]: Did he pressure officials to ignore true vote counts in those states? [SPEAKER_08]: Yes. [SPEAKER_00]: Did he spread lies and conspiracies to his followers to make them believe that the election [SPEAKER_08]: Yes. [SPEAKER_00]: Did he pressure DOJ officials to stop the certification of the election?
[SPEAKER_08]: He did. [SPEAKER_00]: Did he pressure his own vice president, Mike Pence, to stop the certification against the oath of office that he had sworn to the Constitution? [SPEAKER_09]: He did. [SPEAKER_00]: And when all of this didn't work, did he Donald Trump motivate and inspire an angry mob to the US Capitol to stop the certification? [SPEAKER_09]: Our proof showed that he caused what happened on January 6th, that it was foreseeable and that he exploited that violence.
[SPEAKER_03]: Amen. [SPEAKER_11]: Look, that is the way to do it. [SPEAKER_11]: That is the way to question the witness like that. [SPEAKER_11]: That is the way to get the facts out there. [SPEAKER_11]: Yeah, I'm really glad look I still want to see we've got to see if we can get Glenn back in here again Or maybe one of the other people from our legal bars. [SPEAKER_11]: So we have quite a few of them here.
[SPEAKER_11]: We do And see if it because I believe it was it was either Glenn or Harry that we talked to a while back That said one way or another that second volume has got to come out. [SPEAKER_03]: Yes, it does [SPEAKER_11]: And when it does, obviously, repraskin and the other Democrats on the committee there made it clear that they will ask Jack Smith back for more questions, which will be a good thing. [SPEAKER_11]: Yep. [SPEAKER_11]: Pretty thrilled about that.
[SPEAKER_11]: But I just, the fact that it's so clear that Donald Trump is a criminal, and yet there are people like Troy Nails. [SPEAKER_11]: This is why we're saying among other things. [SPEAKER_11]: We're glad for Mike Fanon. [SPEAKER_03]: Yes, God bless him. [SPEAKER_11]: Well, and then there was, who was that other guy some right wing propaganda's douchebag that he thought within the hall? [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, he made a real lick, something like that.
[SPEAKER_11]: I butlick, whatever his name is, yeah. [SPEAKER_11]: He's, he's a jerk, he's a real, and he's, and he's one of those fascist nut jobs.
[SPEAKER_03]: and uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh
[SPEAKER_11]: We love Harry. [SPEAKER_11]: He's great. [SPEAKER_11]: Actually, maybe we should see if we could, you know, ask agency if we could get Harry in the mar. [SPEAKER_11]: I know Harry's always getting the mar. [SPEAKER_11]: As a bouncer or otherwise, just saying. [SPEAKER_11]: So, but Troy now is decided that he was going to not honor the police officers who were there. [SPEAKER_11]: Now, he was going to poke at him. [SPEAKER_11]: Yeah, he'll only play this too.
[SPEAKER_10]: I would like to quickly address the police officer of January 6th. [SPEAKER_10]: Mr. Don, Mr. Phenone, Mr. Gonell, Mr. Hodges. [SPEAKER_10]: I'm a member of the New Select Committee to actually examine what happened that day. [SPEAKER_10]: And I can tell you, gentlemen, that the fault does not lie with Donald Trump. [SPEAKER_10]: It lies with Yogan on the Pittman and the U.S. Capitol Leadership Team.
[SPEAKER_11]: We know, we know, they had the intelligence, and they're... Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha
[SPEAKER_11]: And you still have jackasses like Troy Nails and some of those other Republicans. [SPEAKER_03]: Wasn't Troy Nails there on January 6th? [SPEAKER_11]: I might have been. [SPEAKER_11]: Mine had been. [SPEAKER_11]: Jim Jordan was. [SPEAKER_03]: Oh yeah, he was. [SPEAKER_11]: And reportedly Jim Jordan was absolute coward like most of the Republicans. [SPEAKER_03]: Well, I mean, it was a frightening. [SPEAKER_11]: It's not completely frightening, but they're the ones that caused it.
[SPEAKER_11]: They are the ones who caused that problem and they are the ones that have caused the problem for the folks that are in the cities right now. [SPEAKER_11]: Let's jump back up to the second round of the news on tap today. [SPEAKER_11]: Ice sponsors versus America.
[SPEAKER_11]: So Minnesotans today called a general strike and from reporting on the ground, [SPEAKER_11]: a lot of people followed through no work, no school, no major shopping and hundreds of clergy of pretty much every background in kind you can think of have also descended on Minneapolis and they have joined the resistance efforts there, which damn y'all let's [SPEAKER_11]: I mean, they got God from every corner of the building and even the forces of nature that aren't God.
[SPEAKER_11]: I mean, you know, you got atheist leaders out there too. [SPEAKER_11]: You got me. [SPEAKER_11]: I'm going. [SPEAKER_11]: It's great. [SPEAKER_11]: And at the same time. [SPEAKER_11]: So we talked about it with John yesterday. [SPEAKER_11]: Hold on security and FBI arrested three protesters who disrupted a church service at a southern Baptist church there. [SPEAKER_11]: Um, uh, federal judge by the way rejected the Trump DOJ's attempt to bring charges against down women.
[SPEAKER_03]: And Pam Bonnie has a side about it. [SPEAKER_11]: Oh, Pam Bonnie is so mad about it. [SPEAKER_11]: Here's a hit, Pam. [SPEAKER_11]: Put in your bikini and go to the beach and then walk into the ocean. [SPEAKER_11]: notice that's my last instruction. [SPEAKER_11]: Keep walking anyway. [SPEAKER_03]: I mean, she just, it's like first off, I remember a guy going into a church, killing people, and then the police took him to Burger King. [SPEAKER_11]: Yeah, exactly.
[SPEAKER_11]: My thought is you got a lot of other things given everything that's going on in the [SPEAKER_11]: Don Levin these days independent journalist a better journalist now than when he was with CNN Because he's not being you know shackle him didn't right But you're worried about some independent journalists didn't do any damage Didn't just just put in his microphone in his camera and getting people's opinions.
[SPEAKER_11]: He got he got the protesters and he got the people from the church He got both sides if you're saying well, it's all biased [SPEAKER_03]: Well, and was anybody hurt in the church and was the church damaged? [SPEAKER_03]: No. [SPEAKER_03]: No. [SPEAKER_03]: No. [SPEAKER_03]: What's illegal about what they did? [SPEAKER_11]: You can't have an opinion, Joe.
[SPEAKER_11]: He didn't, you know, and Donald Trump's American, unless your opinion matches his, you can't have an opinion, and you certainly can't have it on media. [SPEAKER_03]: Because like Stephanie brought up and happened to friends of mine, their families during the AIDS, the beginning of AIDS when people were dying. [SPEAKER_03]: And they were, A hole is going into churches protesting because of the gay disease. [SPEAKER_03]: And they never got arrested. [SPEAKER_03]: Right.
[SPEAKER_11]: But among other things back then, most people wherever they were on the ideological spectrum actually believed in the [SPEAKER_11]: And now we have a compared to the majority of us, a small group of people known as MAGA. [SPEAKER_11]: And even some of them aren't against aren't for this. [SPEAKER_11]: Even smaller group called ICE. [SPEAKER_11]: And they believe that laws don't apply to them. [SPEAKER_11]: Pam Bondi of course is kind of in that group as well.
[SPEAKER_11]: Actually, we're jumping around a little bit of the news on tap today. [SPEAKER_11]: If you do go down to the war in the court section under the fourth round. [SPEAKER_11]: Newly on sealed document today proves that DHS violated the first amendment, citing foreign students writing and protests before their arrest. [SPEAKER_11]: Uh-huh. [SPEAKER_11]: Um-huh. [SPEAKER_11]: Um-huh. [SPEAKER_11]: Um-huh. [SPEAKER_11]: Um-huh. [SPEAKER_11]: Um-huh. [SPEAKER_11]: Um-huh.
[SPEAKER_11]: Um-huh. [SPEAKER_11]: Um-huh. [SPEAKER_11]: Um-huh. [SPEAKER_11]: That is against the first amendment.
[SPEAKER_11]: And yet that's what this Trump regime you don't get to have an opinion and unless your opinion Exactly matches them how dare you that's their attitude and their attitude is not only that But that they should be able to send their thugs to bash down your door fourth amendment be damned [SPEAKER_11]: And if they decide to what they want to stay in your house, hey, third amendment, D.B. [SPEAKER_11]: Damned, too.
[SPEAKER_11]: Yep. [SPEAKER_11]: And if you have guns, you better not use them because they're definitely going to say, hell, no, do you having your second member rights? [SPEAKER_11]: First, second, third, fourth, right there. [SPEAKER_03]: Yep. [SPEAKER_03]: Well, and then you're not allowed to invoke your fifth amendment rights. [SPEAKER_11]: Right, they don't want you to, right? [SPEAKER_11]: They don't want you to have any rights. [SPEAKER_11]: They want all the rights.
[SPEAKER_11]: They don't want you to have them. [SPEAKER_11]: That's fascism folks and yet the folks in Minneapolis and around the country up in Maine They have all learned and they've been passing these things on back and forth to each other and I am I am heartened To some degree. [SPEAKER_11]: I mean look there's it thinks they're still damn scary. [SPEAKER_11]: I mean ice kidnapped a five-year-old boy [SPEAKER_03]: who could have gone to other family members stayed at the school.
[SPEAKER_03]: There was no reason for ice to have taken him anywhere. [SPEAKER_11]: Right, literally. [SPEAKER_11]: They kidnapped this child. [SPEAKER_11]: Yes, Mary Granland, school board chair for the Columbia Heights Minnesota public schools. [SPEAKER_11]: They were doing a little press or earlier today. [SPEAKER_11]: I grabbed this. [SPEAKER_11]: I can't remember what source. [SPEAKER_11]: I think it's actually from the local local Fox station up there.
[SPEAKER_11]: Here, let me play this on the DVR. [SPEAKER_01]: So I was on my way to get my own children from school and I heard the commotion and saw all the people. [SPEAKER_01]: And as I got out of my car and came around the corner, I heard, what are you doing? [SPEAKER_01]: Don't take the child. [SPEAKER_01]: There are people here that can take him there and there was another adult who lived in the home that was there saying, I will take the child. [SPEAKER_01]: I will take the child.
[SPEAKER_01]: Somebody else was yelling they saw that I was there and said school is here. [SPEAKER_01]: They can take the child you don't have to take them and there was ample opportunity to be able to safely hand that child off to adults. [SPEAKER_01]: And mom, mom was there.
[SPEAKER_01]: She saw the window and dad was yelling, please do not open the door, don't open the door because of the other picture that I'm sure you've seen, where there's a little boy knocking at the door with an icy glooming over him. [UNKNOWN]: Mm. [SPEAKER_11]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_11]: And so the dad was saying, the dad knew that that moment was going to happen, if you say. [SPEAKER_03]: Of course she did.
[SPEAKER_11]: And thankfully, I guess, the dad and the little boy, Liam Romus, are at a family detention facility. [SPEAKER_11]: A family, a family concentration camp. [SPEAKER_11]: That's what it is. [SPEAKER_11]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_03]: I mean, there are basically ISIS, a little slay patrols. [SPEAKER_11]: Sorry, he had something to say. [SPEAKER_03]: That's OK. ISIS, what we used to call slay patrols.
[SPEAKER_11]: they are we don't have to go to Germany we can just stay at home when we want to give them a bad title oh yeah but i mean they are they are a a different iteration different modern combination of this stuff and it is just i am glad for all the people who are standing up to them whether it is in the streets or in the courts uh the Minnesota judges there are a lot of them they're rejecting the arrest warrants
[SPEAKER_11]: in those ice protests they're just saying now we know the stuff that you guys are doing is illegal we will not allow those warrants to go through because among other things if they come up to a regular you know another court they're like no no who authorizes right you can't do that right so it's look there there are so many other people who are standing up to and we've got a few more of those as well and yeah they're standing up to a main and in Chicago [SPEAKER_11]: Ice Sox, man.
[SPEAKER_11]: And I don't just mean the what? [SPEAKER_11]: Ice Sox. [SPEAKER_11]: And for anybody who thinks you can reform it, man, we have a talk about this. [SPEAKER_11]: There are certain things beyond which you got to go into a big bad fix. [SPEAKER_11]: And this is this one in things. [SPEAKER_11]: Let's take a breath. [SPEAKER_11]: Let's get a drink. [SPEAKER_11]: You want to do the drink the day, maybe get a little something to eat?
[SPEAKER_11]: Sure. [SPEAKER_11]: We'll pire or something. [SPEAKER_11]: Sure or something like that. [SPEAKER_11]: Okay. [SPEAKER_11]: Cool. [SPEAKER_11]: We do that. [SPEAKER_11]: We will do that next here at the politics bar. [SPEAKER_11]: Freshing your drink and come on back. [SPEAKER_11]: We'll throw you some pie too, alright? [SPEAKER_05]: Alright. [SPEAKER_11]: Friday nights here's politics bar. [SPEAKER_11]: Thank you very much for hanging out with us from whatever you happen to be.
[SPEAKER_11]: Of course we are thankful to everybody who's listening and all of our great radio affiliates. [SPEAKER_11]: And if you're busy you're doing something maybe you're shoveling snow maybe you get a middleless snowball fight while you're listening to show with possible. [SPEAKER_11]: Wow. [SPEAKER_11]: Look, easy thing you can do is subscribe to the podcast. [SPEAKER_11]: You can do it on your favorite podcast player, or you can do it here at politicsbar.com $6 a month.
[SPEAKER_11]: It's real simple, man. [SPEAKER_11]: It's like less than a buck 50 a week. [SPEAKER_11]: It gets you the podcast ad-free. [SPEAKER_11]: It gets you the drink of the day with the recipe, and it gets you the news on tap. [SPEAKER_11]: Just check it out, go there. [SPEAKER_11]: It's politicsbar.com. [SPEAKER_11]: All right, Jodie. [SPEAKER_11]: We've been hinting at it a little bit this evening, because, you know, we would like to do that.
[SPEAKER_11]: For those people who subscribe, they get a little something extra. [SPEAKER_11]: It's like a little bonus, a little magic for them. [SPEAKER_11]: Because they switched, which one is the extra? [SPEAKER_10]: He's the extra. [SPEAKER_11]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_11]: That's where I was. [SPEAKER_11]: That's the word I was looking for. [SPEAKER_11]: My brain wouldn't find it right now. [SPEAKER_11]: But yeah, although, there's an Easter pie.
[SPEAKER_11]: Is there such a thing as a pie that really matches [SPEAKER_11]: I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, it says it's a springy flavor. [SPEAKER_11]: It might work. [SPEAKER_11]: That would work. [SPEAKER_11]: What what speaking of pile just what what is the drink of the day and and what is the reason for the drink? [SPEAKER_03]: the drink of the day is called a lemon chiffon pie cocktail and it is inspired by national pie day.
[SPEAKER_11]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_11]: I know that's it's that's different. [SPEAKER_11]: That's the other pie that you're thinking. [SPEAKER_03]: Not 0.314 now it's not that it's it's it's it's it's different it's the American pie cancel is a thing. [SPEAKER_11]: It is, you can actually go to the drink of the day-to-day click on the link and it will take you to the American.
[SPEAKER_11]: It's a thing, it's a total thing, and I know not the American Pie Council, it's not about the movie, it's about pie. [SPEAKER_03]: And all of the history that I got was from NationalToday.com, which is pretty cool about how pie started on the planet, what our traditions are, it's very interesting. [SPEAKER_11]: Pie goes back a long way and they used it they didn't eat the crust at first and it was savory at first We were talking to the break.
[SPEAKER_11]: Um, you're not a big fan of savory pies. [SPEAKER_11]: Mm-hmm I like savory pies. [SPEAKER_11]: I like sweet pie. [SPEAKER_11]: I like pies in general of pretty much most kinds [SPEAKER_11]: Handpies are basically usually like more savory like your meat pies Some people you might even consider like a hot pocket. [SPEAKER_03]: That's a pie. [SPEAKER_11]: Right. [SPEAKER_11]: Okay. [SPEAKER_11]: Well, I consider a runsa a hand pie You know what a runs is. [SPEAKER_11]: Mm-hmm.
[SPEAKER_11]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_11]: See, Jody knows so it is Chris Levo. [SPEAKER_11]: So I Like those. [SPEAKER_11]: I mean, you know, it's it's fun. [SPEAKER_11]: It's good because among other things if a hand pie is created well You can eat with one hand and do other things with the other [SPEAKER_11]: You know you can drive if you need to. [SPEAKER_11]: It's it's it's it's convenient. [SPEAKER_11]: It's food on the go. [SPEAKER_11]: Mm-hmm. [SPEAKER_11]: Pye on the go. [SPEAKER_11]: Mm-hmm.
[SPEAKER_11]: So that's that's that's kind of like that. [SPEAKER_11]: That's a my thing. [SPEAKER_11]: Oh, I like that. [SPEAKER_11]: There are a ton of other prizes. [SPEAKER_11]: What's your favorite sweet pie? [SPEAKER_03]: I have a few chocolate cream, lemon meringue, banana cream, oom. [SPEAKER_03]: Vanilla cream, all sorts of it. [SPEAKER_03]: There's very little that I don't like.
[SPEAKER_11]: Yeah, let's say there isn't none there is not a single one of those pies that you mentioned that I am not a fan of I and we've got a lot of pie facts to things like 186 million pies are sold in stores each year in America. [SPEAKER_11]: Just us. [SPEAKER_11]: There's a lot of pie. [SPEAKER_11]: A lot of pie. [SPEAKER_11]: There's a lot of pie. [SPEAKER_03]: The largest pie ever baked was 10,540 kilograms. [SPEAKER_11]: I don't have to do the conversion. [SPEAKER_11]: I don't know.
[SPEAKER_11]: That's a lot. [SPEAKER_11]: That's that's a big pie that that that is a big pie a one and five Americans admit they've eaten a whole pie by themselves. [SPEAKER_11]: You're eating a whole pie by yourself? [SPEAKER_11]: Probably. [SPEAKER_11]: I will admit that I have, but I didn't eat it in all in one sitting. [SPEAKER_11]: Because I would like an apple pie and, you know, I ate it over the course of a week. [SPEAKER_03]: Well, but I think they mean in one sitting.
[SPEAKER_11]: Okay, no, and it's still counts. [SPEAKER_11]: I ate the whole thing. [SPEAKER_03]: No, I'm sure I have. [SPEAKER_03]: I'm sure of it. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, probably in one sitting. [SPEAKER_11]: At one time, I think, you know, most of us have at some point in time. [SPEAKER_11]: You know, it's like eating the whole bag of Doritos. [SPEAKER_03]: Oh, no. [SPEAKER_03]: An entire half gallon of ice cream.
[SPEAKER_11]: Oh, well, many times, but now, you know, and now and for a number of years, you have the politics bar, so you don't get sad, need a whole half ground. [SPEAKER_03]: I didn't say we're sad, I just ate it. [SPEAKER_11]: I know those people who, you know, that's, that's how they get pasted for us, that goes. [SPEAKER_11]: Jodi, what is in a lemon chiffon pie cocktail, the drink of the day on national pie day?
[SPEAKER_03]: Okay, you're going to need a blender, some ice, a pre-chilled coop glass, an ounce of light white rum, but if you don't want to drink alcohol, liars white rum alternative is very good for that. [SPEAKER_11]: Right. [SPEAKER_11]: So we got the cocktail in the cocktail. [SPEAKER_03]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_03]: And an ounce of white cream to cacao, the cure, or moan and white chocolate coffee syrup, that's not alcoholic.
[SPEAKER_03]: An ounce of lemon juice, freshly squeezed, two scoops of vanilla ice cream, and you grated lemon zest. [SPEAKER_03]: See, blend all the ingredients with ice. [SPEAKER_11]: in the blender. [SPEAKER_03]: Yes, you pour into the coop glass and you garnish with the lemon zest. [SPEAKER_03]: It's just a little bit of ice. [SPEAKER_03]: I don't think you need that much ice just because you've got the ice cream, but I think it waters it down ever so slightly.
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_11]: So it makes it kind of soft and creamy. [SPEAKER_11]: That would be pretty cool. [SPEAKER_11]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_11]: Look, if you miss the recipe or you missed any part of the drink of the day, you guys don't want to do. [SPEAKER_11]: You just subscribe. [SPEAKER_11]: It's politics bar dot com. [SPEAKER_11]: Alrighty, uh, something else that is uh, going on, um, I have to say, yeah, I know your 49ers are not in.
[SPEAKER_11]: Yeah, I'm sorry, too soon, but okay, between Patriots and Broncos and Rams and Seahawks, who would you pick? [SPEAKER_11]: Patriots or Broncos? [SPEAKER_11]: I know that's going to be the tough one for you. [SPEAKER_11]: You've had a week to think about it. [SPEAKER_03]: I'd go, uh, I hate both teams. [SPEAKER_03]: Um, [SPEAKER_11]: Okay, that's fair. [SPEAKER_11]: That's fair. [SPEAKER_03]: And all my friends in Colorado would be happy that I said that.
[SPEAKER_03]: And then obviously the Rams over Seattle, but if Seattle wins, I'm fine. [SPEAKER_11]: Okay, see, that's, there's nothing wrong with that. [SPEAKER_03]: I just want the NFC to win the game, the big one. [SPEAKER_11]: Okay, look, everybody has, well, I'm an NFC girl. [SPEAKER_11]: There is absolutely nothing wrong with having a favorite at this point, even if it isn't necessarily your team. [SPEAKER_11]: So I'm like, you know, whatever that, that's cool.
[SPEAKER_11]: I don't have a dog in the honey either way. [SPEAKER_11]: I just hope, you know, people are happy and nobody gets significantly hurt. [SPEAKER_03]: And I'm looking forward to what does it green day and bad bunny, is that it? [SPEAKER_11]: Yeah, which that's the part that I was looking forward to. [SPEAKER_11]: I like, I like the the artist this year, green day, and bad bunny, and, you know, the ads used to be bigger, but there still will be some good ads.
[SPEAKER_11]: I hope it come out this year. [SPEAKER_11]: usually do around the Super Bowl and so on. [SPEAKER_03]: Well, they cost a fortune to place, so you might as well do it, right? [SPEAKER_11]: It's where I'm like when somebody's pays a ton of money for Super Bowl ads. [SPEAKER_11]: And then their crap, I'm like, are you kidding me? [SPEAKER_11]: And you can tell sometimes it was just, it was poorly written.
[SPEAKER_11]: And you're like, oh my god, you should have spent more of your budget on the writing. [SPEAKER_11]: Holy crap. [SPEAKER_03]: beat get get somebody who's creative and not garbage what the hell I hear that people that do all the progressive commercials they are so good no no I was I meant to do that sorry yeah people that write the progressive insurance commercials because they're all different [SPEAKER_11]: there's a whole variety of those.
[SPEAKER_11]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_03]: That out agency and who writes that it's just really well done. [SPEAKER_11]: Oh, and the Liberty Mutual, I like those two. [SPEAKER_03]: Liberty, Liberty. [SPEAKER_11]: Yep. [SPEAKER_11]: Oh, God, you see. [SPEAKER_11]: He's bad. [SPEAKER_11]: Well, well, and the the Liberty guy is bad. [SPEAKER_03]: He's bad. [SPEAKER_11]: Now he's found his love. [SPEAKER_03]: He's found a love. [SPEAKER_03]: And it's very cute. [SPEAKER_11]: You know, that's, that's okay.
[SPEAKER_11]: Stupid people to need love, too. [SPEAKER_03]: Well, I saw that actor and something else where he played like a badass. [SPEAKER_03]: And I'm like, hey, that's the Liberty guy. [SPEAKER_11]: That's the thing, that's one of the things with these commercials being so successful. [SPEAKER_11]: Sometimes, is it some of the, some of the actors who are in them all of a sudden kind of get a little bit of a tag that way?
[SPEAKER_03]: Oh my god, you're... Well, the woman that plays Flow on one of the progressives. [SPEAKER_03]: That's all she does. [SPEAKER_03]: She makes a fortune doing it. [SPEAKER_11]: Oh, yeah. [SPEAKER_03]: Stephanie Courtney I think is her name. [SPEAKER_03]: She's saying she's a very talented actor but you know she does maybe five commercials a year and makes millions of dollars. [SPEAKER_11]: Good for her. [SPEAKER_11]: And I can guarantee you I know who her insurance company is.
[SPEAKER_11]: So, yes, so there, there is some football, by the way, other football news college football playoff, the playoff will remain at 12 teams, the SEC and the Big 10 failed to green and expansion, which is fine. [SPEAKER_11]: There's always going to be some little mode of controversy and somebody else will always say I should have been in [SPEAKER_11]: even if they shouldn't have, they would, whatever. [SPEAKER_11]: They can go in their AI and pretend.
[SPEAKER_11]: Speaking of which, a major actor's and musician's group has launched stealing isn't innovation, a whole campaign to protest big text abuse of copyrighted works in AI. [SPEAKER_03]: I'm with them, I support that 100%. [SPEAKER_11]: Amen, I agree with that, 100% on that. [SPEAKER_11]: Razzy nominations came out this week. [SPEAKER_11]: Snow White and Ice Cube's War of the World, both lead with six nods, and the weekend is the worst actor [SPEAKER_03]: I would find more of the worlds.
[SPEAKER_03]: I watched it. [SPEAKER_03]: It was fine. [SPEAKER_03]: It wasn't it was a great but it was fine. [SPEAKER_03]: If you got nothing better to watch. [SPEAKER_03]: It's fine. [SPEAKER_11]: It's fine. [SPEAKER_11]: It's fine. [SPEAKER_11]: It's fine. [SPEAKER_03]: It's fine. [SPEAKER_03]: It's it's it's it's interesting. [SPEAKER_03]: Take on how it's done. [SPEAKER_03]: It's different. [SPEAKER_11]: But I was like look not every movie is going to be your flavor movie.
[SPEAKER_03]: That's just [SPEAKER_11]: That's one of the reasons why I still kind of like TV. [SPEAKER_11]: I still have, you know, okay, I mean, I've YouTube TV in my house as well. [SPEAKER_11]: Let's flip through the channel sometimes and be like, oh, okay, you know, whatever. [SPEAKER_11]: So, um, TikTok, by the way, one more new story in the media entertainment and more segment. [SPEAKER_11]: Uh, that deal. [SPEAKER_11]: TikTok has finalized the deal to create a new US entity.
[SPEAKER_03]: And Donald is taking all the credit for it. [SPEAKER_11]: Well, but people who are his stuages basically only and they've been a few stories where they're they're saying oh well we're just going to tweak the algorithm. [SPEAKER_11]: Uh-huh, sure you are. [SPEAKER_11]: I do not. [SPEAKER_11]: I still think they need to make the algorithms on all social media. [SPEAKER_11]: Open available and understandable.
[SPEAKER_03]: So like voting machine proprietary information, that'd be great. [SPEAKER_11]: Yeah, but also also just so that you the user can pick the algorithm you want. [SPEAKER_11]: If you want hate filled content, look, that you can do that. [SPEAKER_11]: That's up to you. [SPEAKER_11]: But if you want algorithms that feed you certain things, maybe you're a shopaholic and you want an algorithm that is it fills your feed with whatever social media it is with shopping stuff.
[SPEAKER_11]: Okay, that's that's your choice. [SPEAKER_11]: Um, I would prefer chronological. [SPEAKER_11]: Same. [SPEAKER_11]: I missed that on Facebook. [SPEAKER_11]: Boy, how are you? [SPEAKER_11]: Yeah, so do I. [SPEAKER_11]: And, um, I would prefer basically the people that I have cultivated my own feeds.
[SPEAKER_03]: Well, I noticed, uh, I think was during the 2016 election, uh, and, and again, in 2020, [SPEAKER_03]: OK, because what I was posting about Black Lives Matter, late for hair, and things that are definitely geared towards Black women and not white women, and I thought it was hilarious. [SPEAKER_03]: I mean, I have Black friends going, really? [SPEAKER_03]: I'm like, yeah, I got this out, not out. [SPEAKER_03]: And they just started laughing.
[SPEAKER_11]: National Radio presenter Toby Nap, friend of mine here in the DC area. [SPEAKER_11]: He specifically years ago on his Facebook changed his gender and his Facebook to female. [SPEAKER_11]: Oh, I bet he got a whole different it gets exactly whole different set of ads then it does even though he's clearly a guy I mean balled and you know big man and the whole thing so it's just kind of funny.
[SPEAKER_11]: I'm just like what ever dude whatever it's [SPEAKER_11]: I would love to have the algorithms out there so we could pick and choose the ones that we want and Blue skies pretty good. [SPEAKER_03]: They pretty good about that. [SPEAKER_03]: They're good about that. [SPEAKER_03]: They don't really try to feed you stuff You just go get what you want. [SPEAKER_11]: It is.
[SPEAKER_11]: In fact, actually we got some comments from some of the folks on our social media We will talk about those next hour. [SPEAKER_11]: We also have Karen and Anita from Shruble politics coming in [SPEAKER_11]: I'm more of the news on TAF for you. [SPEAKER_11]: It's a Friday night. [SPEAKER_11]: You guys know it. [SPEAKER_11]: We're chill. [SPEAKER_11]: Here's the top of the hour. [SPEAKER_11]: If you haven't done it already, you know what to do. [SPEAKER_11]: Down the hall.
[SPEAKER_11]: Left right center. [SPEAKER_11]: Look. [SPEAKER_11]: You know what we say here. [SPEAKER_11]: We aim to please here at the politics bar. [SPEAKER_11]: You aim to please. [SPEAKER_11]: And then come on back. [SPEAKER_11]: Fresh in your drink. [SPEAKER_11]: Have a seat. [SPEAKER_11]: And we'll talk about more of it here at the politics bar. [SPEAKER_11]: On a Friday night. [SPEAKER_05]: We'll be right back. [SPEAKER_14]: After we pay some bills at the politics bar.
[SPEAKER_06]: Polinocone! [SPEAKER_06]: Celebrate to the fire! [SPEAKER_07]: Ready to come! [SPEAKER_07]: Don't think it's the fire! [SPEAKER_07]: Wherever you are, the politics must! [SPEAKER_06]: Shotsmith Pearson, Jodie Helton! [SPEAKER_11]: Jodie! [UNKNOWN]: God! [SPEAKER_11]: Hello, hello, how are you doing? [SPEAKER_11]: How are you doing? [SPEAKER_11]: I'm fine. [SPEAKER_11]: You're fine. [SPEAKER_11]: All right. [SPEAKER_11]: Look, we are hoping you are all right.
[SPEAKER_11]: And okay, and we are hoping you are warm. [SPEAKER_11]: Especially if you are in, basically, the two thirds of the United States are half the United States and the continental US that is getting hit by this ugly ass storm. [SPEAKER_11]: We'll talk about that. [SPEAKER_11]: Lobby's like Karen and Anita are coming in and Karen isn't Chicago where it is. [SPEAKER_11]: Shelly, shelly is an understanding. [SPEAKER_03]: Aren't they aren't they worried in Texas too?
[SPEAKER_03]: I've saw something with Greg Abbott, so. [SPEAKER_03]: Oh yeah, not only are they worried in Texas. [SPEAKER_03]: Look, the Ted Cruz already split, so you know it's going to be bad. [SPEAKER_12]: We almost collided, getting to that one. [SPEAKER_12]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_11]: We know it, it's you guys do as well.
[SPEAKER_11]: Thank you, by the way, to everybody who is joining us on all of our great radio affiliates, whether you are listening at WAA, WCBTAMA20 in Chicago, or maybe you're listening at land on Georgia now, radio, maybe you are listening up in the cities, many of the St. Paul's AM950, or maybe you are listening to the D2 we're talking Tennessee, a progressive [SPEAKER_11]: Maybe you are a podcast loser.
[SPEAKER_11]: Your future people and maybe it's Saturday and you're listening to us now, even though we're here on Friday. [SPEAKER_11]: But whatever, we don't mind. [SPEAKER_11]: Look, you're busy prepping for that that storms are coming through. [SPEAKER_11]: Great. [SPEAKER_11]: I believe I heard this morning as we were on a WCPT on Richard Chew Show. [SPEAKER_11]: I believe I heard Jennifer Vuchitsky. [SPEAKER_03]: Vuchitsky.
[SPEAKER_11]: What jeeds get from from weatherology they have they have good weather And also her name is not as hard to spell as you think But if the you tread no it's trust me you're not gonna you're not gonna spell I think I heard you're say when she'll's gonna be a negative 45 tonight Oh, she got it been been in that don't want to do that again Yeah, that's just okay I still like I said like I said this morning. [SPEAKER_11]: I keep thinking [SPEAKER_11]: I mean, it's a question of physics.
[SPEAKER_11]: How do you get it so you can have an automatic system? [SPEAKER_11]: So there's no people there, but that it sprays the ice guys and saying it would stop them. [SPEAKER_11]: You get you get wet and cold when it's negative 45. [SPEAKER_11]: With that wind are you're good. [SPEAKER_03]: You're never going to freeze. [SPEAKER_11]: You have about three minutes to get your ass inside. [SPEAKER_11]: Uh-huh.
[SPEAKER_11]: So, you know, and I am, I'm glad for all the smart protesters who were out there today in the cities. [SPEAKER_11]: Their ice out protest today seems to have been really successful. [SPEAKER_11]: So, congratulations to everybody who was up in the cities and wherever you happen to be today. [SPEAKER_11]: The only ice out protest, I heard that there were 290 or something like that. [SPEAKER_11]: Partner sites, they were just trying local issues wherever they were in the country.
[UNKNOWN]: Good. [SPEAKER_11]: I, I'm glad for all the good people who are working together, but I still think it would have been a hell of a lot easier if certain people would have just gotten their asses out there and voted. [SPEAKER_11]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_11]: For common one. [SPEAKER_03]: Well, I've been hearing, in fact, Richard Chu had somebody on, I think it was yesterday who has been studying the voting. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_03]: And going, hey, it's not right in the swing state.
[SPEAKER_03]: Something ain't right. [SPEAKER_03]: He's like, this isn't how humans vote. [SPEAKER_03]: This is not. [SPEAKER_11]: Hinkie. [SPEAKER_03]: It's about the counting of the votes always. [SPEAKER_03]: It's not who voted. [SPEAKER_03]: It's about how the votes were counted. [SPEAKER_11]: Well, it's about who votes, but it's also about who counts the votes.
[SPEAKER_03]: And he said that several million people thought they voted because they mailed it, but it might not have gotten in time. [SPEAKER_11]: And remember now that please get it in early.
[SPEAKER_03]: If you're going to do mail in whatever contest you're doing get it in early and your taxes are coming up kids make sure that you get those in time if you don't electronically file because if you file by mail and you turn it in on the tents or the fifth or the 11 or 12, you're not going to get the postmark in time. [SPEAKER_11]: You may not. [SPEAKER_11]: It might or you might not, but it's, I don't know. [SPEAKER_11]: You want to risk that kind of a crap shoot.
[SPEAKER_03]: Don't risk it. [SPEAKER_03]: Well, people used to. [SPEAKER_03]: I mean, I remember seeing people drive and then post office people picking up their tax returns on a phone for the team. [SPEAKER_11]: Yeah, they, there are a lot of things that our federal government used to do and doesn't anymore because it happens to be this federal government. [SPEAKER_11]: And I am. [SPEAKER_11]: Oh, we warned y'all, we warned y'all this kind of stuff would happen.
[SPEAKER_11]: Especially these attacks. [SPEAKER_11]: And honestly, how do you live with yourself if you're one of these ice monsters? [SPEAKER_11]: JoJo, we love to have you back, JoJo. [SPEAKER_11]: So we're out to see if she comes back to the mark. [SPEAKER_11]: She's over on threads saying, imagine getting up and going to work every day when your job includes kidnapping five-year-old kids. [SPEAKER_03]: I don't, I mean, how do you do that?
[SPEAKER_03]: Jonathan Ross, whose name we're not supposed to mention, Jonathan Ross. [SPEAKER_03]: Jonathan Ross. [SPEAKER_03]: Yes, Jonathan Ross. [SPEAKER_03]: Is that the guy who murdered when I good? [SPEAKER_03]: Yes, Jonathan Ross, I believe his name. [SPEAKER_11]: And I believe Jonathan Ross is the guy who shot and killed when I get you. [SPEAKER_03]: Yes. [SPEAKER_03]: And Jonathan Ross apparently lied to his neighbors about what he did for a living.
[SPEAKER_03]: When he said he was a botanist? [SPEAKER_03]: Something like that. [SPEAKER_11]: Jack has. [SPEAKER_03]: Because he knew that his neighbors would not [SPEAKER_11]: I don't have any problem. [SPEAKER_11]: If if you happen to have a neighbor that you know works for ice, I'm not saying you have to be nice to them. [SPEAKER_11]: In fact, I'm saying you may not necessarily want to be nice to them. [SPEAKER_11]: I'm not saying do anything, you know, seriously, they don't break the law.
[SPEAKER_11]: Don't be stupid. [SPEAKER_11]: But, you know, at these temperatures, air goods at [SPEAKER_11]: I'm not saying remove the stem. [SPEAKER_11]: I'm just saying if Eric had said a tires and it does sometimes and he's kind of temperature just saying it does. [SPEAKER_03]: I'm just going to be over here. [SPEAKER_11]: I didn't tell anybody to do anything. [SPEAKER_03]: I was there in your cards and letters to show on at I love and culture.com.
[SPEAKER_11]: Look, then the fact that they are, if they were hiring people, if they were even hiring people who, [SPEAKER_03]: there are some people used to work at ice that don't that no longer work at ice because even they said I cannot put up with this garbage now I mean you know the the people that are doing what we're witnessing are newer members of the brigade I mean Jonathan Ross had been around for 10 years but well but he came in under Trump's first regime. [SPEAKER_11]: Right.
[SPEAKER_11]: The facts, I've said it a hundred times now, it seems like that they think they're going to get away with stuff. [SPEAKER_11]: They're not. [SPEAKER_11]: So there was another ice failure.
[SPEAKER_11]: The target of a viral botched ice rate, remember the monk man, they took out Justin his, his, his, his, his, his, his, his, his, his, his, his, his, his, his, his, his, his, his, his, his, his, his, his, his, his, his, his, his, his, his, his, his, his, his, his, his, his, his, his, his, his, his, his, his, his, his, his, his, his, his, his, his, his, his, his, his, his, his, his, his, his, his, his, his, his, his, his, his, his, his, his, his, his, his,
[SPEAKER_11]: now they finally admitted that they said well the guy we were looking for he was one of these two people and somebody else looked into it they're already in prison and that's easy enough any lame person can find out this then ice should have known any law enforcement officer worth their salt and that's beyond us ice is not law enforcement no they are not but any any law enforcement person worth their salt mm-hmm
[SPEAKER_11]: Wood would look that up they think that's one of the first things is the person in custody It do we know where this person is and if so where is this person? [SPEAKER_11]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_11]: It's not complicating just part of your job.
[SPEAKER_11]: Yeah [SPEAKER_11]: uh... federal jury by the way has acquitted the man accused of being part of a murder plot murder for higher of the kill Greg bovino in chicago uh... in part because the attorney called on the jury to stop the overreaching government with the jury nullification or just that they proved that they don't know the case they just said that they just said dude's not guilty by [SPEAKER_11]: But there are judges, there are juries that are blowing this stuff off.
[SPEAKER_11]: And as he mentioned earlier, Maine's Governor Mills is speaking out about this stuff. [SPEAKER_11]: A local sheriff confirmed an ICE, confirm that ICE arrested one of his recruits. [SPEAKER_11]: Yep. [SPEAKER_11]: They are arresting white people, citizens, white women they are killing, and they are arresting other members of law enforcement. [SPEAKER_03]: Oh, and Minneapolis, too. [SPEAKER_03]: There were what six or seven people that had been pulled over.
[SPEAKER_03]: They were off duty police officers. [SPEAKER_11]: For kids, if you don't think that they're coming for you, they're coming for all of us. [SPEAKER_11]: And the only way to stop them is for all of us. [SPEAKER_11]: Good folks to stand against them. [SPEAKER_11]: That's how this works. [SPEAKER_11]: We work as a community together to stand against them. [SPEAKER_11]: And there are way, way, way, way more of us than there are. [SPEAKER_11]: Yes, they're just simply are.
[SPEAKER_11]: There aren't even Magofokes who are like, you know, what I did not sign on for this. [SPEAKER_11]: I didn't sign on to to, you know, have people that I'm paying for kidnapped five year old kids. [SPEAKER_11]: You know, I'm not saying you have to marry to them, but I'm saying if on that particular thing, they're like, hey, but unfortunately, so some, what do you want to call him?
[SPEAKER_11]: Winpy, I guess, week, centrist house Democrats, seven of them, join their Republicans and pass the spending bill without putting any serious shackles on ice. [SPEAKER_11]: Right. [SPEAKER_11]: And then the house narrowly voted down the Democrat House Republicans narrowly voted down the Democratic-led war powers act. [SPEAKER_03]: It was a tie. [SPEAKER_11]: Two Republicans did join the Democrats. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_03]: It was a tie.
[SPEAKER_03]: And even Tom Massey voted against ICE funding. [SPEAKER_11]: Which look, I am glad, I don't care if you are a Republican or an independent or a Democrat. [SPEAKER_11]: If you're doing the right thing, we'll give you praise. [SPEAKER_11]: We give praise where do and criticism to, because that's how it should be. [SPEAKER_11]: If you do the right thing, but for those people who are still, especially those Democrats who are still thinking, well, I can find some common ground.
[SPEAKER_11]: How do you find common ground with people who kidnapped five-year-olds and use them as bait to get their parents? [SPEAKER_11]: Where is their common ground with that? [SPEAKER_11]: That's like I can find common ground with Jeffrey Epstein. [SPEAKER_11]: Sorry.
[SPEAKER_11]: No. [SPEAKER_11]: No. [SPEAKER_11]: I mean, look, we found common ground with Marjorie Taylor Green, but it's because she came to the same side and said, yes, the Epstein victims deserve some type of accountability. [SPEAKER_11]: That's great. [SPEAKER_11]: We'll find common ground. [SPEAKER_11]: If you come over here to the same area of the universe, I'm fine with that.
[SPEAKER_11]: But I'm not going to be looking for common ground with rapists and thugs and murderers and thieves. [SPEAKER_11]: I'm sorry. [SPEAKER_11]: I'm not looking for that. [SPEAKER_11]: That's not where I'm at. [SPEAKER_11]: Right. [SPEAKER_11]: So I'm not looking for common ground with Greg Bavino. [SPEAKER_03]: Same. [SPEAKER_11]: I don't know. [SPEAKER_11]: I just want to end things. [SPEAKER_11]: One of them things. [SPEAKER_11]: You just kind of shake your head.
[SPEAKER_11]: Any who. [SPEAKER_11]: What else do we have here in the news on tap today? [SPEAKER_11]: Because, you know, there is still some clean up obviously from Donald Trump coming back from Davos. [SPEAKER_11]: Oh, hey, hey, look the popped up as I was just yakin' on about $10,000. [SPEAKER_11]: No, it's a one-only care and burn from true blue politics. [SPEAKER_11]: We know what need it will be in fairly soon.
[SPEAKER_11]: She's coming in behind you here a little bit different vehicles today. [SPEAKER_11]: Obviously, yes definitely. [SPEAKER_11]: Definitely, we drove this separately. [SPEAKER_11]: How cold is it there right now? [SPEAKER_04]: It's a very cold. [SPEAKER_04]: It's a very cold. [SPEAKER_04]: It feels like, oh yeah, sure does. [SPEAKER_04]: Here, I'm going to check my weather bug. [SPEAKER_05]: Okay. [SPEAKER_04]: Let's see what it is right now, hourly. [SPEAKER_04]: It's weird.
[SPEAKER_04]: We are at about negative two right now. [SPEAKER_11]: Oh, okay. [SPEAKER_11]: That's a little bit better than I thought. [SPEAKER_11]: What's the windshield though? [SPEAKER_11]: I figured. [SPEAKER_11]: Yeah, well, that's that. [SPEAKER_04]: It feels like negative 16. [SPEAKER_11]: There you go, okay, see? [SPEAKER_04]: Yes. [SPEAKER_04]: So it's called, it's called, yeah. [SPEAKER_11]: Just a little bit more frigid than then I would like.
[SPEAKER_11]: And obviously later tonight, as it gets closer to midnight and stuff, it's gonna get really, really cool. [SPEAKER_11]: Hey, look, what is that, too? [SPEAKER_11]: I am. [SPEAKER_11]: Right before we get to the break, we're gonna have to ask you about where you been, but you've been up to, absolutely. [SPEAKER_11]: Obviously, we will ask you where Ted Cruz is, because I think you know that one as well.
[SPEAKER_11]: I don't know actually actually he he went to go visit Jodi in Southern California because we really want him here. [SPEAKER_03]: Oh yeah. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: We don't want to be there. [SPEAKER_02]: We don't want to be there. [SPEAKER_11]: We will talk about all of that and more. [SPEAKER_11]: We've got Karen and Anita from True Blue Politics podcast. [SPEAKER_11]: It is a Friday night. [SPEAKER_11]: Fresh in your drink.
[SPEAKER_11]: Do what you got to do and come on back. [SPEAKER_11]: It is the politics bar after all. [SPEAKER_11]: And we love to have you here. [SPEAKER_11]: Hang on. [SPEAKER_05]: We'll be right back after we'd pay some bills at the politics bar. [SPEAKER_11]: Friday night, here's Potsett's bar, don't know what that means, we've got him here, it's Karen and Anita from true blue politics podcast in the house, and yes, we have both Karen and Anita.
[SPEAKER_11]: So Anita, you got to tell us what happened. [SPEAKER_03]: Are you okay? [SPEAKER_03]: Are you feeling better? [SPEAKER_13]: Are they figuring out? [SPEAKER_13]: I'm feeling much better. [SPEAKER_13]: I had some little problem, some a problem, man. [SPEAKER_13]: I ended up having losing a lot of blood and I had blood transfusions. [SPEAKER_11]: Okay, but you're good now. [SPEAKER_13]: I'm good now.
[SPEAKER_13]: Yeah. [UNKNOWN]: Okay. [SPEAKER_13]: No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no
[SPEAKER_11]: Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, you're telling me that you had a stress-related health issue. [SPEAKER_13]: Oh, yeah. [SPEAKER_11]: During during the second Donald Trump regime? [SPEAKER_11]: No. [SPEAKER_13]: And now I'm going to move on. [SPEAKER_13]: I'm going to move on. [SPEAKER_13]: I'm going to move on. [SPEAKER_11]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_11]: And I'm going to move on. [SPEAKER_11]: Things are, things are so, things are so screwed.
[SPEAKER_11]: And speaking of which, hey, Karen, what about your bed that broke? [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_11]: We were talking to Karen this morning, Joni and I on Richard shoes show on WCPT and Karen just blindly, you know, let's out that oh by the way, you know, my husband and I last night three of the morning of the bed bed.

[SPEAKER_04]: Earthquake. [SPEAKER_11]: Yeah, understandable. [SPEAKER_11]: I'm, look, I mean, Vichicago doesn't usually have earthquakes, so no. [SPEAKER_11]: No. [SPEAKER_13]: No. [SPEAKER_03]: No. [SPEAKER_03]: No. [SPEAKER_03]: No. [SPEAKER_03]: No. [SPEAKER_03]: No. [SPEAKER_03]: No. [SPEAKER_03]: No. [SPEAKER_03]: No. [SPEAKER_03]: No. [SPEAKER_03]: No. [SPEAKER_03]: No. [SPEAKER_03]: No. [SPEAKER_03]: No. [SPEAKER_03]: No. [SPEAKER_03]: No. [SPEAKER_03]: No. [SPEAKER_03]: No.
[SPEAKER_03]: No. [SPEAKER_03]: No. [SPEAKER_03]: No. [SPEAKER_03]: No. [SPEAKER_03]: No. [SPEAKER_03]: No. [SPEAKER_03]: No. [SPEAKER_03]: No. [SPEAKER_03]: No. [SPEAKER_03]: No. [SPEAKER_03]: No. [SPEAKER_03]: No. [SPEAKER_03]: No. [SPEAKER_03]: No. [SPEAKER_11]: No. [SPEAKER_11]: No. [SPEAKER_11]: No. [SPEAKER_11]: No. [SPEAKER_11]: No. [SPEAKER_11]: No. [SPEAKER_11]: No. [SPEAKER_11]: No. [SPEAKER_11]: No. [SPEAKER_11]: No. [SPEAKER_11]: No. [SPEAKER_11]: No. [SPEAKER_11]: No.
[SPEAKER_11]: No. [SPEAKER_11]: No. [SPEAKER_11]: No. [SPEAKER_11]: No. [SPEAKER_11]: No. [SPEAKER_11]: No. [SPEAKER_11]: No. [SPEAKER_11]: No. [SPEAKER_04]: No. [SPEAKER_04]: No. [SPEAKER_04]: No. [SPEAKER_04]: No. [SPEAKER_04]: No. [SPEAKER_04]: No. [SPEAKER_04]: No. [SPEAKER_04]: No. [SPEAKER_04]: No. [SPEAKER_04]: No. [SPEAKER_04]: No. [SPEAKER_04]: No. [SPEAKER_04]: No. [SPEAKER_04]: No. [SPEAKER_04]: No. [SPEAKER_04]: No. [SPEAKER_04]: No. [SPEAKER_04]: No. [SPEAKER_04]: No.
[SPEAKER_04]: No. [SPEAKER_04]: No. [SPEAKER_04]: No. [SPEAKER_04]: No. [SPEAKER_04]: No. [SPEAKER_04]: No. [SPEAKER_04]: No. [SPEAKER_04]: No. [SPEAKER_04]: No. [SPEAKER_04]: No. [SPEAKER_04]: No. [SPEAKER_04]: No. [SPEAKER_04]: No. [SPEAKER_04]: No. [SPEAKER_04]: No. [SPEAKER_04]: No. [SPEAKER_04]: No. [SPEAKER_04]: No. [SPEAKER_04]: No. [SPEAKER_04]: No. [UNKNOWN]: No. [SPEAKER_11]: Carol, please, just say and say it's, it's a cumulative, it could be, it could be that bad.
[SPEAKER_11]: You just say we don't know if it, if it could talk, it could not be on the air right now because it would be [SPEAKER_11]: Yeah, okay. [SPEAKER_11]: I got it. [SPEAKER_11]: I got it. [SPEAKER_11]: I got it. [SPEAKER_11]: I got it. [SPEAKER_11]: We'll look back and glad you guys are both healthy and safe. [SPEAKER_11]: Yeah, one things are okay. [SPEAKER_11]: Even though it is, um, I'm betting the temperature's already going down to probably about 25 now.
[SPEAKER_11]: Okay, now it sounds gone down there because that's, I mean, look, the whole thing is as soon as something goes down, it gets, uh, you get like negative 25 negative 30, um, uh, notice earlier, like I said, I did, uh, new and today I did a check with my friend, [SPEAKER_11]: and it was negative 43 at noon today. [SPEAKER_11]: Oh my god, and those people are out outside. [SPEAKER_11]: Yeah, it's negative 43 with the windshield.
[SPEAKER_11]: So I'll probably now, it's probably somewhere in the negative 50s or negative 60s below. [SPEAKER_04]: It's so cold. [SPEAKER_04]: Chromecasters are out there. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, isn't it something? [SPEAKER_11]: Like then they have been amazing doing an amazing job protesting in the cities and keeping things Relatively safe when you have an invasion like that.
[SPEAKER_11]: Although I got to say there was some good news that came out of Minnesota today looks like Senator Clovisharr may soon become governor Clovisharr Filder Filder paperwork to run so my assumption is she's not just filing paperwork to you know have something to do [SPEAKER_04]: It's official she's running cool love that they had a good ruling out of there today too Didn't they oh there were several good rulings today actually.
[SPEAKER_11]: Let's see in the war in the court section in the news on tap today Obviously we took the church right oh well yeah, but dinner on we've got several things I'm first of all the the federal judge appears very skeptical of DOJ's argument for the White House ballroom construction [SPEAKER_11]: I'm sure about that. [SPEAKER_11]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_11]: Yes, we love that.
[SPEAKER_11]: Filly is seeing the Trump regime because Donald's version of a National Park people decided to take the slavery exhibits down from the National Park President's house site in Filly. [SPEAKER_11]: Which [SPEAKER_13]: My God, seriously, you think it's people. [SPEAKER_03]: They don't want history. [SPEAKER_13]: Right? [SPEAKER_13]: They don't want anything that just doesn't fit their narrative. [SPEAKER_02]: Mm-hmm. [SPEAKER_02]: Right. [SPEAKER_02]: They want people good.
[SPEAKER_04]: They think wrong. [SPEAKER_04]: Right. [SPEAKER_04]: God. [SPEAKER_04]: So ridiculous. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_11]: How do they think that that doesn't make them look weaker?
[SPEAKER_04]: Well, and the, you know, just the ridiculousness of it, too, with global project against hate and extremism, you know, Wendy, our friends, Wendy, and Heidi, and they, you know, they do these updates about Project 2025 and where we're at, and I mean, they're rounding up indigenous people, homeless people, they rounded up for from the, I can't remember the exact [SPEAKER_04]: It's just, it's, don't tell me that this has anything to do with, you know, immigration.
[SPEAKER_03]: Well, I mean, rounding up people in the sous-triber, wherever I want to say it began with an obit. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_03]: It's not there. [SPEAKER_03]: Um, it's like going into Canada and just taking Canadians off Canadian soil. [SPEAKER_13]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_13]: I just can't believe we're a place where they can just go around and just harass people by face upon the color of their skin.
[SPEAKER_13]: Or if they have an accent and they want to see your papers, they can and they can't. [SPEAKER_11]: For every single one of those, you can go find some phone video, some somebody's blogging, somebody's reports about a lawyer. [SPEAKER_11]: I happened on one last night where there was a woman, she happened to be the lawyer for some immigrants who are in their procedure to get their citizenship. [SPEAKER_11]: And it's great, whatever, they're in this procedure.
[SPEAKER_11]: And the ice monsters decided to come to the neighborhood and this is the the lawyer was leaving so she and some of the other neighbors yelled him chasing the ice guy was like I don't know and she's like, you know the guys like you don't know these people she goes I'm their lawyer right you have no reason to be to get the hell out and they yelled at them and they chased them out of the neighborhood so for every every story right of something there is you know two or three stories of somebody chasing off the ice monsters I
[SPEAKER_13]: it shouldn't be happening at all. [SPEAKER_13]: Thank you. [SPEAKER_11]: No, it shouldn't. [SPEAKER_11]: If we had legitimate federal government, I still think I still think more of the state governments, I still want to see more action from state governments. [SPEAKER_11]: And so it is the Oglala suit, thank you. [SPEAKER_11]: Yeah, Oglala suit. [SPEAKER_11]: Okay. [SPEAKER_13]: But they're stopping law enforcement. [SPEAKER_13]: Yeah, off duty, because they're black or brown.
[SPEAKER_11]: And they're in their papers. [SPEAKER_11]: And they're arresting. [SPEAKER_11]: We had a story in the news on tap today of a sheriff, up in Maine, who one of his recruits was Gangned by ICE. [SPEAKER_11]: This guy is a recruit to be a sheriff. [SPEAKER_11]: Like I. Yep. [SPEAKER_11]: I am. [SPEAKER_13]: And they say it right there. [SPEAKER_13]: They'll be like, well, you know, you have an accent. [SPEAKER_13]: Yes, yep, a lot of these clips.
[SPEAKER_03]: I know someone that's got an accent and she sometimes stays at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. [SPEAKER_03]: Oh, yeah. [SPEAKER_03]: Well, I think she has a movie now. [SPEAKER_03]: She's up to it open today, I think. [SPEAKER_11]: Yeah, but it also it also was kicked out of wasn't it pulled from some that they were going to do screenings and then those screenings were pulled. [SPEAKER_03]: I heard that people seeing it as a preview were booing at.
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, it's like the dumbest thing that Amazon could have done with a waste of money. [SPEAKER_13]: And it's climate, they need to read the world, I mean, come on. [SPEAKER_11]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_11]: Well, and here's the thing that I will continue to harp on this because of the fact that so many people and so many business leaders are so short-sighted. [SPEAKER_11]: All right, guys, tell me anybody, anybody know how old Jeff Bezos is off top their head.
[SPEAKER_03]: He said it's mid sixties. [SPEAKER_11]: Okay. [SPEAKER_11]: So assume that Bezos is going to live another 20 years. [SPEAKER_11]: And that he wants his space project continue. [SPEAKER_11]: Donald is not going to live another 20 years. [SPEAKER_11]: And J.D. [SPEAKER_11]: Vance. [SPEAKER_11]: There was a piece I didn't even put it. [SPEAKER_11]: I didn't even throw it to you today, Jody, but I, you know, I thought about it.
[SPEAKER_11]: I'm like, and we got too many other good things, but Politico did a little thing. [SPEAKER_11]: Mm-hmm, did focus group of young, yeah, I'm trying to remember her name too and she did and political wrote it up and she did a focus group of young white men who, you know, they helped Trump win this last time. [SPEAKER_11]: And they're all like, no, F.M. [SPEAKER_11]: F.M. [SPEAKER_11]: We're done with him. [SPEAKER_11]: They want to be as far away from him as possible.
[SPEAKER_13]: And he is like the premises don't like him. [SPEAKER_13]: The boy first hate him. [SPEAKER_11]: Yeah, right, JD. [SPEAKER_11]: Yeah, they hate him, but they also, they don't like Trump right now either. [SPEAKER_11]: But I'm going, Donald Trump is not going to live another 20 years. [SPEAKER_11]: If Jeff Bezos says, well, you know, I was doing this, and this, and this Donald Trump, I don't think we'll live. [SPEAKER_11]: I thought he might pass last year.
[SPEAKER_11]: I still think his illness is getting worse. [SPEAKER_11]: It is. [SPEAKER_11]: I think I think the White House is lying to us about it now. [SPEAKER_04]: Oh, yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: And I think the hand? [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Yes. [SPEAKER_04]: It looks terrible. [SPEAKER_04]: I mean, I was watching a video from him like five years ago. [SPEAKER_04]: Oh, it's just like night and day. [SPEAKER_11]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_11]: Totally.
[SPEAKER_11]: And the stream of consciousness speaking. [SPEAKER_11]: Yeah, my God. [SPEAKER_13]: Well, he's always been crazy, okay? [SPEAKER_13]: And he said these ideas in his head like the fine green man. [SPEAKER_13]: He talked about that in the first term. [SPEAKER_11]: Right. [SPEAKER_13]: But he posted the legs. [SPEAKER_13]: I mean, but he had, he had a gold grip. [SPEAKER_13]: Right. [SPEAKER_11]: And his, he used to be able to like, you can do when you're talking.
[SPEAKER_11]: And I do this sometimes. [SPEAKER_11]: It's like you're doing a map and you draw a map. [SPEAKER_11]: You're going here to hear, to hear, and then that's fine. [SPEAKER_11]: Um, Donald doesn't even draw a map anymore sometimes he just his thoughts or just we talked about it earlier this week. [SPEAKER_11]: How it's very much stream of consciousness. [SPEAKER_11]: It's literally whatever the next thought that's coming right. [SPEAKER_13]: And he was doing the donor campaign.
[SPEAKER_13]: He's always done that. [SPEAKER_13]: But it's just those words. [SPEAKER_13]: Well, now it doesn't seem to like he was saying. [SPEAKER_13]: He doesn't remember somebody asked him about the checks, the rebate checks for the, he was like, what, what did it any, he never said that today, wait, what? [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, he's talking about, yeah.
[SPEAKER_11]: Yeah, but the whole thing is, these business leaders like Blake Basos, like others, some of these law firm leaders, some of these, you know, collegiate leaders. [SPEAKER_11]: I'm sorry, but even they would probably say the same thing, even if they're maga. [SPEAKER_11]: There are many maga who are like, yeah, Donald's not going to live forever. [SPEAKER_11]: He's not going to live another 20 years. [SPEAKER_11]: So why would you put all of your chips on that?
[SPEAKER_11]: Because when that comes, done, done, and it will. [SPEAKER_11]: JD Vance isn't going to be able to pick up the reins of that beast. [SPEAKER_11]: He's not going to be able to drive that machine. [SPEAKER_11]: So that whole project for them comes and done. [SPEAKER_11]: And then accountability will help me. [SPEAKER_11]: Well, exactly. [SPEAKER_11]: He's right.
[SPEAKER_04]: And he hates his calls, but I mean, the biggest problem in, you know, nobody will kind of speak to the, the heads of these, you know, universities and the, the media corporations and all over. [SPEAKER_04]: It's these are the Epstein elite. [SPEAKER_04]: This is the Epstein.
[SPEAKER_04]: class and they look out for each other and it's me me me me me me me and I've never understood this about the Republican Party when you're talking about things like climate change or when you're talking about things like, you know, [SPEAKER_11]: So, but look, it's, it's, it's why I've said all of this. [SPEAKER_11]: It's why I've said for years, the modern Republican motto is just those five words. [SPEAKER_11]: I've got mine, F. You. [SPEAKER_11]: Right.
[SPEAKER_13]: I mean, they were the things protected. [SPEAKER_13]: I think they actually think that, you know, their kids will be protected. [SPEAKER_04]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_13]: They don't have hair about hurting everybody else with kids. [SPEAKER_04]: It was he looking out for his daughter, not Liz, the lesbian. [SPEAKER_04]: Darryl? [SPEAKER_13]: He'd be here. [SPEAKER_13]: He changed his position on LGBTQ, right? [SPEAKER_04]: He did. [SPEAKER_04]: Right.
[SPEAKER_04]: But how many people had to be hurt before that? [SPEAKER_04]: Many men. [SPEAKER_13]: Because he's only thinking exactly. [SPEAKER_13]: Once again, they don't think that unless it affects them. [SPEAKER_04]: Right. [SPEAKER_13]: And that daughter was gay. [SPEAKER_13]: I've seen this before.
[SPEAKER_11]: That's why I, when people say occasionally, if you're, you know, if you put stick your head over there and right wing world and they'll say, oh, we have a community and I'm like, you don't have a community because community requires thinking about other people right. [SPEAKER_11]: We have a community. [SPEAKER_11]: You can see it. [SPEAKER_11]: What's going on in the cities that they that there are a ton of people. [SPEAKER_11]: They're out there for people, they don't even know.
[SPEAKER_11]: They're out there for people that they will never meet and they're taking care of their community as a whole. [SPEAKER_04]: Yes, that's inherent in community that you look out for the having good right that's the whole thing and they are just a bunch of That will each other. [SPEAKER_11]: Yeah, yeah, exactly Exactly And whenever whenever Trump's arteries win that war It is going to be it's going to be an absolute [SPEAKER_11]: bloodbath fest politically.
[SPEAKER_11]: I'm not going to literally because JD does not have. [SPEAKER_11]: He can't control it and there are a whole bunch of other people. [SPEAKER_11]: Well, yeah, there's that, too. [SPEAKER_11]: There are a whole bunch of other people who are going to want their own pieces of that whole thing into it. [SPEAKER_11]: It'll tear the Republican party or what's left of it apart. [SPEAKER_11]: Yep. [SPEAKER_11]: So crazy. [SPEAKER_04]: I can't wait.
[SPEAKER_11]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_11]: No, I want you to. [SPEAKER_11]: I want you to know. [SPEAKER_11]: All right. [SPEAKER_11]: Well, we got one more segment here. [SPEAKER_11]: We got to close out the week. [SPEAKER_11]: Obviously, we're going to have you two here. [SPEAKER_11]: Maybe we'll do some after hours. [SPEAKER_11]: We'll see if Karen and Anita are up for that. [SPEAKER_11]: So, look. [SPEAKER_11]: Do you can't freshen up your drink.
[SPEAKER_11]: If you need some good duds, you know what to do. [SPEAKER_11]: Go check out the politicsbar.com store, new shirts. [SPEAKER_11]: You can get short. [SPEAKER_11]: We're long. [SPEAKER_11]: Hey, you know, I don't judge. [SPEAKER_11]: Do what you want that way. [SPEAKER_11]: But whatever you do, freshen you drink and then come on back. [SPEAKER_11]: And you can hang out with Chody and Karen and Anita and me. [SPEAKER_05]: Here at politics war hang on.
[SPEAKER_11]: Last call of the week here at the politics bar on a Friday night.
[SPEAKER_11]: Thank you so much everybody who has reached out to us on all of our social media platforms Everybody who listens to us live on the radio and everybody who listens to us on your favorite podcast player or of course If you subscribe to politics bar dot com $6 a month less than a buck 50 week you know how I say this, but it's look think of it this way You love what Jody and I do you love the great guest that we bring in like Karen and Anita and you're like you know what
[SPEAKER_11]: I just give him a tip. [SPEAKER_11]: $6 a month. [SPEAKER_11]: Boom. [SPEAKER_11]: So go check it out. [SPEAKER_11]: It's the politics bar. [SPEAKER_11]: Back up. [SPEAKER_11]: All right, y'all. [SPEAKER_11]: It was a busy week of news. [SPEAKER_11]: Obviously, Donald would over-made an ass of himself in Europe, which we all knew. [SPEAKER_11]: Obviously, the stuff going on in Minnesota. [SPEAKER_11]: Jack Smith. [SPEAKER_11]: We just got that. [SPEAKER_11]: That was fantastic.
[SPEAKER_11]: That was something. [SPEAKER_11]: One of you two think were kind of some of the big stories of the week that actually kind of caught your attention. [SPEAKER_13]: Well, the whole green landing, of course, and that Donald Trump backed down, and it was just so obvious, because to know they're demanding, saying we have to have green land, it's it we need title, we have to ownership for national security or really made a big deal about this right and then to turn around and go.
[SPEAKER_13]: Well, we got a framework of a framework of a concept of a deal. [SPEAKER_03]: Yes, this is exactly what the deal was always over the last 50, 60 years. [SPEAKER_03]: That way, exactly. [SPEAKER_13]: That dimension, the NATO premier general said they never talked about green. [SPEAKER_13]: Right. [SPEAKER_02]: Right. [SPEAKER_13]: And then the Denmark, the Prime Minister and the Greenman's Prime Minister were like, no, we never talked about it.
[SPEAKER_13]: So he's just making it up.
[SPEAKER_11]: it's not that it's not that it's not that it's not that it's not that it's not that it's not that it's not that it's not that it's not that it's not that it's not that it's not that it's not that it's not that it's not that it's not that it's not that it's not that it's not that it's not that it's not that it's not that it's not that it's not that it's not that it's not that it's not that it's not that it's not that it's not that it's not that it's not that it's not that it's not that it's not that it's not that it's not that it's not that it's not that it's not that it's not that it's not that it's not that it's not that it's not that it's not that it's not that it's not that it's not that it's not that it's not that it's not that it's not that it's not that it's not
[SPEAKER_11]: And so on C, C, C, and B, C, and a couple of we're noting that a couple of bond traders, big bond traders, made it over to Davos who don't usually go to Davos and had a meeting with Donald. [SPEAKER_11]: That was the, that was basically the extent of what they said. [SPEAKER_11]: But even that to me is a big huge deal because the bond, the bond market folks, the folks who control the bond markets are really the folks who have the most amount of power.
[SPEAKER_11]: Yeah, because they're the ones that set the interest rates for everything and they're the ones I mean, they they they have and Conveniently right after they met with Donald he comes up with this Idea I've got a framework of a framework and I have said it's it's my can it's it's my content. [SPEAKER_11]: It's my hypothetical It's my guess That the bond market people basically said looked on he's a deal.
[SPEAKER_11]: You're gonna do this real nice and you're gonna fix this thing You're gonna you're gonna take it away an exact oh you're gonna do this. [SPEAKER_11]: What's gonna do he? [SPEAKER_11]: Right, and and there are people who go, I don't know, and I go, look, you know, there is there is one person I know that most of the people here in the bar know I wish she would talk about it. [SPEAKER_11]: She probably won't but she could and that would be Stephanie rule.
[SPEAKER_13]: So if you're out to bet it. [SPEAKER_11]: uh... she might tonight or show her shows after ours later so i'm going you know but uh... might might might my my speculation is the fact that uh... uh... she i'm pretty sure she knows the people who would know [SPEAKER_11]: And I'm, that is, that is just my thought is that somebody who has some real serious influence said, Donnie, this ain't the way to do it, boy. [SPEAKER_11]: So. [SPEAKER_13]: But the damage is done.
[SPEAKER_13]: Right. [SPEAKER_13]: He gets so much damage. [SPEAKER_11]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_11]: Because nobody trusts, nobody trusts us. [SPEAKER_11]: Our allies don't trust us. [SPEAKER_11]: And enemies don't trust us. [SPEAKER_11]: That's right. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: For me, I think the Jax Smith testimony was, [SPEAKER_04]: I mean, I, I think it's significant. [SPEAKER_04]: I think it's still, you know, is it, did we learn anything new?
[SPEAKER_04]: No, we didn't. [SPEAKER_04]: But I think it's important that while we have the attention of people that maybe haven't been paying attention, you know, the, the, the percentage of independence and people that maybe didn't vote, you know, for that to come out and for people to be able to share that. [SPEAKER_04]: hearing. [SPEAKER_04]: It's reminding people. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_13]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_13]: Yes, he tried to overturn our election.
[SPEAKER_03]: And if I lean cannons lifting goes through in the middle of next month, like it's a poster, Jamie Raskin said, we're going to have you back to testify about the last thing that I was talking about. [SPEAKER_11]: And we'll find out what is in that second
[SPEAKER_11]: And there's that statute of limitations folks, and in this case, that kind of thing does not have a statute of limitations, so, you know, yes, okay, so if Donald died, they're not going to take the case after him, but but it will allow us to Correct whatever they tried to rewrite in history and make sure that the history is actually correct and shows that he was a criminal because he is a criminal and he had a whole bunch of fixtures around him like Michael Cohen, who apparently is
[SPEAKER_11]: There's that well there we talked about that a little bit this week, y'all he didn't wait just a little bit.
[SPEAKER_11]: Yeah, I I never I never really trusted Michael Cohen and the reason I didn't is because he didn't he didn't really have anything to lose and he didn't right he'd already lost everything right He didn't have anything to put on the line [SPEAKER_04]: I think it's just disgraceful because it's all coming up because he's been asked questions about the Epstein files and of course it makes sense.
[SPEAKER_04]: If he was intimidating, stormy Daniels, and you know, that of course he would know something about the Epstein files. [SPEAKER_04]: That was his whole thing, so it's kind of like, oh, yeah, that would be right around the [SPEAKER_13]: He doesn't want to talk about it. [SPEAKER_11]: He doesn't want to talk about the rush of stuff either, which I always know, right, so there's all kinds of stuff.
[SPEAKER_11]: And I'm sure one of the reasons that he doesn't want to talk about some of that stuff now is that he doesn't think he has any protection and that he knows that some of the stuff he did was not legal and then some of those people who probably are on the Epstein list or whatever, um, [SPEAKER_11]: But what you say in that kind of situation is you say things like, you know, I can't talk about it because it might end up getting me in trouble.
[SPEAKER_11]: I'd like to talk with you about it, but I can't. [SPEAKER_11]: that's all you have. [SPEAKER_11]: Well, it's, it's a version of playing play. [SPEAKER_11]: It's, it's a version of cleaning a fifth in the public and just saying, but I can't because it might get me in trouble. [SPEAKER_11]: Maybe it wouldn't, but maybe it would and given all the trouble, I've gone through, I don't want to test that. [SPEAKER_11]: Right.
[SPEAKER_04]: So, but I mean, what it's like, shame on him, I mean, he's got daughters, right? [SPEAKER_04]: He's got to be just one daughter.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: And, you know, Lev Parnus, of course, now he said he goes, he's, he's, [SPEAKER_04]: got some good information that he's but it's been weeks that he's been over making talking to the Trump camp and that the way that it up, you know, he dropped the substack and then right away Fox News, all of these right wing media entities started like reporting on it. [SPEAKER_11]: I just look and say, I, with some of this stuff, it, it all eventually will come out.
[SPEAKER_11]: There will be accountability. [SPEAKER_11]: There is going to be accountability. [SPEAKER_11]: I have never understood the people who think that they're going to outlive accountability.
[SPEAKER_11]: Because even if even if you die, your image, your image, your image, your image, your image, your image, your image, your image, your image, your image, your image, your image, your image, your image, your image, your image, your image, your image, your image, your image, your image, your image, your image, your image, your image, your image, your image, your image, your image, your image, your image, your image, your image, your image, your image, your image, your image, your image, your image, your image, your image, your image, your image, your image, your image, your image, your image, your image, your image, your image
[SPEAKER_11]: but when you're dead, you can't do anything to control it. [SPEAKER_11]: You can't do anything to manage it. [SPEAKER_11]: And there will be accountability for you. [SPEAKER_11]: Whether you feel it directly or not, there will be accountability. [SPEAKER_11]: So the idea of, oh, we're not going to have accountability. [SPEAKER_11]: You know, I, I'm going to get away with this. [SPEAKER_11]: Really? [SPEAKER_11]: You ever had a comma?
[SPEAKER_13]: It's like the Donald Trump his family are going to get a can of gold. [SPEAKER_11]: There's a whole lot of karma coming that direction. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_03]: It Tiffany's just happy that daddy doesn't like her that much. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_03]: I'm going to get much attention anyway.
[SPEAKER_11]: Sometimes, sometimes that's the thing, but some of these Republicans have there who have thought that being quiet was the way Don Bacon, for example, who is leaving Tom Tillis, who is leaving? [SPEAKER_11]: How convenient now that they have found their voices? [SPEAKER_11]: And yes, for whatever reason I'm glad they have found their voices. [SPEAKER_11]: But [SPEAKER_11]: It would have been nice if they would have found their voices. [SPEAKER_11]: They all their spines.
[SPEAKER_11]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: They all do it. [SPEAKER_04]: I mean Paul Ryan did it, Jeff. [SPEAKER_04]: Blake did it. [SPEAKER_11]: Look, there's going to be, there's going to be some archaeologists going to be digging around. [SPEAKER_11]: And I'll be like, look, oh, okay. [SPEAKER_11]: Oh, so we're digging here into the early 20th or 21st century. [SPEAKER_11]: And oh, we found an iPhone. [SPEAKER_11]: Oh, look, look what we found. [SPEAKER_11]: It's a Republicans.
[SPEAKER_11]: Yeah, steam files.
[SPEAKER_03]: what's his name that uh... work to throw con of this and try to get Thomas massy man now he's not retiring no he's the one that actually is putting it yeah he's trying to yeah he's putting it on the line uh... he's putting it but Thomas massy he also voted to defund ice yesterday he didn't really he didn't really [SPEAKER_11]: I think Thomas, well, Thomas Massey is in a very, very deep red district, so it's, but I think Thomas Massey is doing the smart thing.
[SPEAKER_11]: The smart thing now is cut ties and all of those principles that you claimed as a Republican, but you didn't actually follow when you were following Donald Trump. [SPEAKER_11]: You've claimed them even though, you know, anybody smart knows you didn't actually [SPEAKER_11]: But before most of the people realize you didn't actually believe them, if you're smart, you still have the ability to pick up those principles and close yourself in them and say, I've always been this way.
[SPEAKER_11]: And I think that's what Thomas Massey is doing. [SPEAKER_13]: I hear so many, I've heard this so many times. [SPEAKER_13]: I'm a Thomas Massey Republican. [SPEAKER_03]: Oh, wow. [SPEAKER_13]: They're saying that you're hearing that now. [SPEAKER_13]: You're hearing it. [SPEAKER_13]: I've heard it. [SPEAKER_13]: I'm like, see span on the call. [SPEAKER_13]: Those call. [SPEAKER_11]: Oh, God. [SPEAKER_11]: Okay. [SPEAKER_13]: Yeah, yeah, they always say on people being interviewed.
[SPEAKER_13]: And interesting. [SPEAKER_13]: I'm a Thomas Matthew Republican. [SPEAKER_13]: That's a watch. [SPEAKER_11]: That lens credence that lens credence to my thought process. [SPEAKER_11]: Then because yeah, that's because look, there is going to be an after Trump. [SPEAKER_11]: there absolutely is going to be an after Trump and in that after Trump, somebody going to have to have the flag on that side of the aisle.
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_11]: And I think Thomas Massey is positioning himself to be the person if not one of the people who grabs that flag on that side of the aisle and he can take it wherever he wants to take it. [SPEAKER_11]: Look, they're hard to tell. [SPEAKER_11]: No, no, no, but depending on what she does, she could do a podcast show. [SPEAKER_13]: Well, you know, she could she could come a Fox host, whatever, but, um, asses a smarter guy and he's just, he's, um, more like Rand Paul.
[SPEAKER_13]: Rand Paul is also another one. [SPEAKER_11]: But Rand Paul has, Rand Paul has always kept a little bit of distance from the rest of the Republican Party. [SPEAKER_11]: So Rand Paul will be another one of those who at least has one hand on that flag guiding it. [SPEAKER_11]: I'm, that I know doubt, I agree with you on that 100 percent of need. [SPEAKER_11]: But they're going to have to be a lot of people on their side figuring that out, figuring out where they're going to go.
[SPEAKER_11]: I just want to see more people on our side. [SPEAKER_11]: And I'm seeing a lot of, you know, look, I love Pritzker. [SPEAKER_11]: God, Gavin, I wish you wouldn't do the dumb things, but he's done some smart things this week too, yeah, I know, but like after the Iraq war, okay? [SPEAKER_13]: And a lot of these Republicans, I mean, now they just try to distance himself from that, right? [SPEAKER_03]: Right? [SPEAKER_13]: That they ever supported that.
[SPEAKER_13]: Most of them, if you talk to any Republican voters now that I got, you know, they didn't vote for George and Debbie Bush, you think nobody vote for George [SPEAKER_11]: So if you go John Cgo saying has said many times that that's the case that we'd like 10 years for now. [SPEAKER_11]: I never I don't know who Donald Trump is right. [SPEAKER_13]: Yeah, so I mean like the Ron calls of the rampals who are in the Iraq war at the time.
[SPEAKER_11]: Like like when we're talking this morning with Richard, we need to be in opposition party, but we also need to be a proposition party. [SPEAKER_11]: We need to actually it's not just what we're against. [SPEAKER_11]: We really need to have more people on our side saying what we're for.
[SPEAKER_11]: and what we what how our plans are to get there not necessarily specific but you know in general plans of how to get there um yeah we we could talk about that on the after hours if you guys are cool with that you uh huh I'm sorry [SPEAKER_11]: So look, Jody, Karen, and Anita, and me. [SPEAKER_11]: We are all gonna hang here at the bar. [SPEAKER_11]: If you are listening on any of our great radio affiliates, look, the simple thing to do is just go check out the podcast.
[SPEAKER_11]: We will make sure that after hours is free and available for you. [SPEAKER_11]: And then of course, you know if you wanna get the rest of the podcast, we don't complain about that as well. [SPEAKER_11]: Next week, let's see who's going to be at, oh, I know, uh, BDD obviously on Monday. [SPEAKER_11]: Jared Rizzy is coming on Tuesday. [SPEAKER_11]: We love that as well. [SPEAKER_11]: Uh, we're going to do the after hours now, though.
[SPEAKER_11]: So, uh, for those of you, uh, head now to have a good night, be safe. [SPEAKER_11]: Stay warm this weekend. [SPEAKER_11]: I got to stay warm. [SPEAKER_11]: And for those of us coming over the after hours, come join us over the politics bar. [SPEAKER_11]: We'll see you guys back here Monday night on the politics bar. [SPEAKER_11]: Of course.
