Episode description

Welcome to the podcast, Jordan Smith! Jordan has been in the Japanese poetry community on various projects, serving as Editor-in-Chief for Tokyo Poetry Journal and co-founder of KOTOBA, the national poetry slam of Japan. He produces programs for BBC Radio 4 on Japanese poetry and culture, with some of the projects turning into book projects (Sea of Trees: Poetic Gateways to Aokigahara). Author of poetry and art-dialogue volume Syzygy (Awai Books, 2020) and translator of many of Japan’s leading poets, Jordan uses every means possible to bring Japanese poetry to the world. As Partner/Creator for the digital creative studio Digital Will and as curator for DIESEL Art Gallery (Shibuya), he also plans and produces a variety of tech-oriented art and branding projects around Tokyo. Co-founder of the emerging collective Cōem, which creates new software and poetic experiences through collaborative experiments with coders and poets. Listen in as he and Amanda talk about everything in the Japanese poetry scene!
