An article was published this week by Food & Wine Magazine about "The 25 Most Important Bourbons Ever Made," which caused quite a stir on the Bourbon-web. Will and the Greeze discuss it, and their friend Matt comes along for the ride. Then, after the 15, they drink Wild Turkey Rare Breed from the Greeze's stash.
Will tells the Greeze about three very cool bars he went to in San Diego, CA while on vacation: The Whiskey House, False Idol, and Aero Club Bar. Then, they take a bottle of Greeze's from his stash to sample on the 15. Folks on Instagram and Facebook picked FEW Bourbon.
Will and the Greeze received samples from J. Henry & Sons of their three bourbons. What you hear is Will and the Greeze's honest assessment. No positive review was promised in exchange for the samples. Check them out at jhenryandsons.com . They try the 5year old small batch, the Bellefontaine Reserve, and the Patton Road Reserve. Then, after the 15, the guys try Pikesville Rye. Enjoy.
Our friend Logan from the podcast BLT Lunchbreak comes over for a drink. You heard him last time when we visited his Geek Easy. They talk about lots of random things and, most importantly, the PodCruise. Then they hastily decide to drink some Old Granddad Bottled-in-Bond. Check out BLT Lunchbreak here
The air is warming up, so Will and the Greeze head back out to the Made South barn to drink whiskey with Chris ( @madesouth ) and Joe Bourbon ( @bourbonfindoftheday ) to blind each other with bourbon. This is the last week to book your cabin on the PodCruise at the discounted rate. $50 holds your spot for this epic trip on the Norwegian Epic. WWW.PODCRUISE.COM...
Today marks the 1 year anniversary of the PodCask's launch on Apple Podcasts and other providers. Listen as Will and the Greeze reflect on that year, while drinking of course.
Will and the GreeZe talk about Fred Minnick's article about the bourbon surprises at this year's San Francisco World Spirit Awards. But the real treat is when Momma Greeze arrives at the studio and starts drinking. Buckle your seat belts.
In this episode, John ( @subourbon_dad ) from DadsDrinkingBourbon.com was able to secure a bottle of the brand new Col. E.H. Taylor Four Grain, so he graciously brought it over to the PodCask studio and forced the Greeze to open it. Enjoy.
First, Will and the Greeze are given a special bottle of bourbon labeled "Bottled-in-Bond," but after closer investigation, all is not as it seems. So they try this inaccurately labeled whiskey... you know, for the show and all. Then after the 15 they drink Widow Jane 10 year. Finally, they close out the show with a special song written by friend of the show Brian Reynolds ( @tbryanreynolds on instagram). It is based on the Greeze's lyric "Whiskey may kill me but it wont break my heart." Enjoy...
On this episode, Will and Greeze talk about an article they read about "infinity bottles." In a nutshell, an infinity bottle is a bottle you keep adding to with different whiskies to create your own unique blend. After that, they toss some ideas of different kinds of infinity bottles they could make. Then, after the 15, Will and the Greeze try the newest release from Whistle Pig: FarmStock. A sample for the show was generously given to us by Joe Bourbon of @bourbonfindoftheday ....
In this episode, Will and the Greeze tell one of their favorite stories of all time. It involves booze, casinos, and Greeze being a high roller. By the end of it, you'll want to hang out with the Greeze even more than you already do. Then, after the 15, they drink some Ancient Ancient Age 10 Star (AAA 10 Star). Enjoy. Sign up now for the PodCruise 2018 -- Just $50 reserves your space -- www.Podcruise.com
We were given a sample of all 10 Four Roses recipes, so in honor of March Madness, we filled out a bracket of all 10 of them to crown a champion and our favorite recipe. We boil it all down to the Final Four Roses (which is actually 6), move on to the Final game, and then crown a champion.
This week Will and the Greeze announce that the PodCruise is happening. Go to www.podcruise.com to secure your space NOW! Only $50 reserves your spot. Then they talk with the Greeze's potential future brother-in-law, who just turned 21. They give him some fine whiskey, including Baby Saz, Rebel Yell 10 Year, 1792 High Rye, Heaven Hill 6 Year, and Four Roses OBSQ. Then they drink the OBSQ for the 15. Cheers!
Will and the Greeze went out to Whiskey Warmer in Franklin, TN a few weekends ago for a night of socializing, interviews, and, best of all, whiskey drinkin'.
Will and the Greeze talk about the blast they had at Whiskey Warmer and also about a new opportunity to hang out and drink with them: a cruise in spring of 2018. You can find out more about this cruise at www.whiskeypodcask.com then scroll to the bottom and click "PodCask Cruise!!!!" to sign up for more info. Then, after the 15, the guys try Garrison Brothers 2016 Bourbon.
In this episode, Will and the Greeze start talking about different bonded whiskies and which are their favorites. Then they start drinking a few new ones that they haven't had before: David Nicholson and Old Tub. Then they decide that they have drank enough whiskey for the day and call Greeze's mom for the 15... it couldn't go any better.
Just when Will thought the Greeze couldn't get any more "greezy," they went and recorded this episode. Greeze talks about eagles, deer, the jet stream, and all sorts of nonsense. They also talk about an awesome event they hosted, and one that is coming up MARCH 11: The Whiskey Warmer. Check it out at www.WhiskeyWarmer.com . Then, after the 15, they try Michter's 10 year old single barrel and rate it on their buy, bar, pass scale.
In this episode, Greeze tries to supply content by bringing over two different beers aged in bourbon barrels: Avery PumpKYn ale and Goose Island Bourbon County Brand Stout. A surprise awaits in that tasting. Then, after the 15, Will and the Greeze drink Eagle Rare 10 year Bourbon that was distilled at the Old Prentice Distillery. This dusty sample was graciously given to them by their friend Steve ( @fletcher_whiskeydog ). ALSO! Will and the Greeze will be PODCASTING from an excellent WHISKEY ev...
Will and the Greeze give our their top 5 accessible whiskies. Greeze goes on a rant about a nonexistent trap door at Jack Rose. And then, after the 15, they try High West Rendezvous Rye. All in all, a great episode.
Will and the Greeze discuss what bourbons are good for giving as gifts at parties. During that discussion, Greeze talks about a dream he had about an upcoming EH Taylor release, which reminds will of a shot that Joe Bourbon had sent them: Rebel Lightnin'. So, Will grabs some hot sauce and they shoot some whiskey. Then, for the 15, they decide to drink Orphan Barrel Gifted Horse -- a blend of 17 year and 4 year whiskey.
Greeze gives advice on all sorts of things that most folks shouldn't actually follow. Then they sort of talk about finished whiskies. After the 15, they try High West Yippee Ki-Yay finished rye.
Will and the Greeze make a trip to their buddy Logan's house to drink in his home bar. He's a collector of movie memorabilia, and decided to call his home bar the "Geek-easy," as a play off of the work speakeasy. Three out of the four whiskies they try even have tie-ins to movies. Will and the Greeze took over some Thomas H Handy for Logan to try, since he hadn't had it.
Will had to make a last-minute, whirlwind trip to DC for work, and while he was there he decided to stop into the famous Jack Rose Dining Saloon for some dinner and some whiskey. Even though he knew it was a "must do" for whiskey fans, he failed to grasp the immensity of the place. He went on a whiskey journey that may not be topped ever, drinking unicorns throughout the night. Then, after the 15, the guys try Rittenhouse Rye. Check out our newly updated website at www.whiskeypodcask.com...
Will and the Greeze start talking about changes in the bourbon industry, Greeze starts ranting, and they do a side by side of Elijah Craig Small Batch vs 13 year age stated... then Greeze rants some more. Then, after the 15, they try Maker's Cask Strength.
Last week the guys were talking about drinking bourbon and coke, so this week they decided to do a showdown. Using red solo cup style shot glasses, they mixed up this classic gameday cocktail with 5 different whiskies: Booker's, Old Fitzgerald, EH Taylor Single Barrel, Heaven Hill 6yr (90 proof), and Sazerac Rye. Then, they blind taste tested each of them and ranked them to find the perfect whiskey 'n coke. Then, after the 15, Will and the Greeze try Col. E.H. Taylor Single Barrel neat and give ...
Paul Steele of the Steele Speakeasy (sometimes called the Patron Saint of Bourbon by the PodCask) had Will and the Greeze back over for some good bourbon. As you'll hear, we planned on drinking 6 whiskies and ended up drinking 9. Two bourbons we drank were dusties bottled in the 60s: Austin Nichols Wild Turkey and Ezra Brooks 12 year. Among other things tasted: 4 from the Parker's Heritage collection, Old Heaven Hill Bottled in Bond, William Larue Weller 2016, 1792 Port Finish. ALSO -- the great...
It's a new year, and Will and the Greeze have a casual conversation about some of the things they've learned. Specifically, they talk about how they love the relationships built around whiskey, the progression from mixed to neat bourbon, and a few stories mixed in. Then, after the 15, they try Jim Beam Bonded bourbon. They thought it would be a good idea to try something more accessible, after last week's BourbonPaloozaExtravaganza. Enjoy.
We had an idea with our buddies Chris ( @MadeSouth ) and Joe Bourbon ( @bourbonfindoftheday ) to get a bunch of friends together and have a bourbon tasting for the ages. Each bottle we brought had to have a story behind it. Chris's friends over at 8 Lavender Lane catered the party with delicious southern fixin's. Although this was our Christmas party, it's focused on the whiskey, so it can be enjoyed at anytime of the year. Here's the bottle list: Blanton's Straight from the Barrel, A Midwinter ...
